I’ve tried most of the Sun Screens at Sephora, plus UltaMd ones and a few amazing Japanese ones. This is my favorite (along with the Mermaid UV Skin gel Japanese one but it’s full chemical no zinc). The texture is amazing. My skin is hydrated but not greasy. It leaves with moisturized, wet, fresh, glass skin shine- a glow which is NOT a weird greasy film or a weird glitter sparkle like other sunscreens. Great for dry skin, and it has never irritated my skin, I even use it on my eyes lids and my eyes have never felt a sting. My only qualm is that it’s only 30 spf. Biossance, please make a 50 spf!!!!! I use this guy as my daily, casual, indoor with small errands to run sunscreen. But I do use other 50 spf sunscreens when I’m outdoors or when it’s very sunny outside. I don’t feel comfortable wearing by this as the weather heats up now in Spring. I know however that this will be my winter go-to, when I need something moisturizing and comfortable without such a need for high spf (although again, 50 spf would be much preferred). Let me start by saying DO NOT use this if you have dark skin. I’m the palest person I know and you can see this on my skin. I think that’s just the nature of zinc oxide sunscreens but I’m not totally sure. I used to really like this and I had bought it because of Hyram like a lot of other people. One of my biggest concerns with this sunscreen is the fact that it has Isostearic Acid which is a well known acne causer but I didn’t realize this until my dermatologist pointed it out and it was too late to return this. I have not noticed any breakouts yet that I can contribute to this sunscreen but just know it’s a possibility because of that ingredients, Cosdna actually ranks it as a 5 in the acne category. My other quarrel with this sunscreen is just the way it applies. This is not moisturizing even though it might seem like it when you first put it on. It dries QUICK and will not blend into the skin properly if you let it dry before it’s fully rubbed in and you’ll also have white streaks on your face. This also dries down sticky and will have a bunch of hairs and dust stick to your face. I’ve also found that throughout the day at work, I’ll have white flakes pilling and flaking off on my chin and it’s very noticeable. As for actual sun protection, I’ve never actually used this in a setting where I would get sunburnt, I use this for daily wear so I’m not sure how well it protects against the sun yet. I came to the reviews in desperation to hopefully find some answers as to why this highly rated product wrecked my skin for over half a year. I’ve never had skin issues except for the occasional dry patch during winter time, but five doctor visits and three steroids later to treat the intense itchiness, redness, flakiness, and wrinkles from dry skin (!), I’m reflecting on how this might have started. Around January 2022, I tried two new products for myself: Skinfix face wash and Biossance’s sheer mineral sunscreen. I had returned the Skinfix face wash thinking that was the culprit – the irony here is that the Sephora employee said it was a “bad batch” and that there had been some sort of recall. I continued using the Biossance sunscreen because I always use SPF outside and I liked that it was a mineral sunscreen, left absolutely no white cast or pilling, and made my skin glow. However, I’ve noticed that when I go out and use this sunscreen, I have super itchy rashes and hives appearing on my face and/or neck. The redness and irritation can last for days, or on and off for months as I have been dealing with this. I’ve been making sure I’m hydrated and moisturized, so I’ve had my normal skin for almost a week now – until today. I used the Biossance SPF again and within 20 minutes of being outside, I began to feel the tingle on my jawline. It was too late and now I’m sure it’s been this product this whole time. The dermatologist had dismissed the SPF initially as a culprit, but seeing these reviews..yikes. I have literally lost sleep by using this product because I have been clawing at my face and neck from the intense irritation. This is as far as I go with face makeup and the more I use it the less hyperpigmentation I have thanks to avoiding nasty tints that sink into your pores and cause congestion. Highly recommend for acne prone, textured skin. Simple fix to the tackiness is putting on bareminerals foundation over it. Buildable and leaves you with hydrated, moisturized, and protected skin. Alone it is very dewy and just the finish for hot dry Florida days. When the humidity kicks up, adding some powder to prevent transfer and keep it from feeling tacky is all you need. Perfect product! I've tried far too many high quality and "clean beauty" tinted spfs and this checks all my boxes. There is no such thing as a perfect spf but with a couple hacks this baby comes close. Nice texture — silky but not oily. It leaves more of a dewy, than an oily look. It's unscented, and water-based with none of the unhealthy ingredients that are already banned in other countries, but that can be sold legally in US cosmetics. It also contains some good ingredients such as niacinamide. The tint works for my light skin. It looks dark when it comes out of the tube but blended in well and has just enough pigment to even skintone without looking like you are wearing makeup. (For reference, my skin tone is about the same as Neutrogena Healthy Skin products in Fair to Light 20 tone.) It has a warm undertone, so would probably be better for people with the same. I'm not sure if it would leave a light cast for darker skin tones, but I don't believe it would leave that ghostly white cast some zinc oxide sunscreens do. This was my first time trying a sunscreen from this brand and I was not that impressed. I got this one and the non-tinted version of this, and both were just not that great. They don't sit well over certain moisturizers (I use cerave cream) and can pill/bunch up depending on the skincare you have underneath. The tint on this claims to be universal, but it was noticeably darker compared to my natural skintone. I'm Asian with light/fair skin (Fitzpatrick type 2), and the color difference was so obvious. I applied this to my face and neck, and it was so dark compared to my chest. I was confused because reviews with lighter skin said the tint was fine, but it might also be that people don't apply an appropriate amount for proper spf coverage. The tint on this is really suited for those who are a solid medium/tan skintone. This is also not dark-skinned friendly (I had my friend try it out), as it leaves you looking ghostly. Also, the smell is similar to that of rubber tires. I do like that it's spf 50 and lightweight, but the cons heavily outweigh the pros for me that I would not find myself ever purchasing this again.Kev
Recently with the influx of skincare and makeup videos on apps like Instagram and tik tok, I've been seeing so many things about sunscreen and sun protection. I'm only 25 but I've started to notice some fine lines and signs of sun damage since I'm quite pale and fair skinned, which is all the more reason for me to use this. I mean $37 for sunscreen is definitely a lot, but to those wondering if it's worth it: it definitely is. This sunscreen is absolutely amazing, it's light, fluid, makes me feel like I'm wearing nothing at all, and best of all leaves NO WHITE CAST!!! I love knowing that I'm protected and the spf 50 is great for someone like me with super pale skin. The only issue I have with it is that it does leave my face looking a little oily but usually I'll just put a bit of powder on and it looks normal. I would definitely be interested in trying something that has a more matte finish, if available. Also I will say if you use the recommended amount of sunscreen daily you will go through this bottle pretty quick. I'm so glad I decided to try this particular sunscreen from La Roche-Posay {already being happy with, -and using their SPF50 for children for both me and my son} wanting something that felt a bit lighter for the face and neck especially. I have very sensitive, reactive skin prone to redness {not diagnosed but ticks every box for Rosacea} and not only does this sunscreen not cause any irritations whatsoever, but my skin seem calmer and happier since I've started using this nearly daily and I've had no flare ups and putting it on. There's not even a hint of redness {that can even be brought on by my kind moisturiser that is great for me otherwise}. Anyone with finicky skin knows that this in itself is so nice to find, – but not only have I had these results every time for weeks now, but it also seem to make my make up look and last b e t t e r, which I find hard to expect from a sunscreen. So much so that I've stopped using a primer before make up application {and rather just use this sunscreen and then a cc cream and some translucent mineral veil, and I have had more compliments on my skin than ever}. The consistency is quite runny and light, but I find that to be a great feature for a sunscreen for the face as it melts in with no white cast whatsoever. I had heard a lot about this sunscreen. I have sensitive skin and can only use mineral sunscreen. I am always looking for cleaner brands and I found this for $14.99 at target which is a great price. I find sunscreen to be seriously overpriced for how important it is, and this is half of what I usually pay. This has mixed reviews. I don't find it pills the way others complained, but I didn't use a bunch of serums just my usual vitamin c. This says it's moisturizing, but also mattifying and I can usually use sunscreen lotion as my lotion in the summer on my oily/combo skin but found I needed a light moisturizer with this. I don't know about cream to powder, whatever that means, but it was harder to rub in to get rid of the white cast and I am super pale. I cannot recommend this for anyone who isn't pale for that reason. This is supposed to be unscented, but it smells a bit like powder but it fades. It didn't irritate me or break me out. I usually wear a higher SPF if I'm really out in the sun, I just wear this walking around my neighborhood and I've been into wearing hats since reaching my early thirties and in that case this works fine. I like the price and that it's inexpensive, but I don't love the white cast and I have to wear with moisturizer so that makes a more expensive option that doesn't require moisturizer not as big a deal. So I don't think I'd repurchase this, but I will finish the tube.
This product is unusable. It pills upon application and immediately rubs off, making a mess. I had to double cleanse just to get this stuff off, and it left my skin so dry that it still felt weird after moisturizing it to the point where I thought I still hadn't gotten it all off. It's blue, so even with most of it rubbed off, my face looked white and streaky. I know this is technically not a face moisturizer, but I have tried other mineral sunscreens and body sunscreens on my face without any issue other than a few pimples. This is my first mineral sunscreen and I tried it because it was listed as one of the best ones to try for sensitive skin. When I apply the sunscreen, I shake it vigorously, place a small dollop (about 1/2 tbsp), rub it a little between my fingers, let my fingers warm it up a little bit, dot it around my face, and then I start to spread it evenly. Once it's set in, my skin does have a soft satin-y feel (similar to the feeling when I use a silicone based primer for my make up) and then after a minute or so my skin feels regular. So I'm not sure if people are just not rubbing it in enough or letting it warm up (I have read from dermatologists that warming up mineral sunscreens helps a lot with the application). I also wash my face and apply a light moisturizer before I apply the sunscreen. Basically in my experience it takes a smidge more time to apply the sunscreen, but I would say overall positive. I received this from FAB for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say I am impressed with this product! I have sensitive, dry, rosacea-prone skin, and this sunscreen did not irritate my skin at all. There are no fragrant ingredients, but there is a super light, almost undetectable smell that I enjoyed. I have pretty fair skin (on the lighter side of Fitzpatrick Type II), and there was a slight white cast visible on me at first. It dissipated quickly after working the product in for a few seconds, though. I'm fairly confident it would leave a cast on darker skin tones. It spreads across the skin nicely and has calming, hydrating, and moisturizing ingredients. It isn't one of those sunscreens that disappears as soon as you apply it, but I like knowing I have sun protection on my face. It doesn't feel heavy or stifling under makeup. As mentioned before, you do have to work it in a little bit. I wish it was higher than SPF 30. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of product in the tube. I use A LOT of sunscreen, and the product lasted a lot longer (almost 2 months) than I thought it would. It is a little on the pricey side in my opinion, but I value a good mineral sunscreen. I bought this product with my own money, here are my pros and cons: Pros: first application goes on well, it blends into the skin very nicely and leaves barely any cast (I have light skin). I like to spread it on my skin and then dab it into my skin and it makes it kind of disappear. It has a natural finish, not too dewy not too dry, just perfect. The tube and design are very well made. Cons: I work in the sun and I reapply my sunscreen three times. Reapplying for the second time isn’t as seamless as the first time, but it’s okay, the cast becomes more visible. The third time just forget about it, I started wiping my face with micellar water before reapplication. The sunscreen is not perfect but I would buy again, it has been the best so far as a non-tinted sunscreen. And it has 20% zinc oxide which is really good.HannahBerjaoui
It’s a difficult thing to have sensitive skin and have to find new skincare when a company reformulated its products, so I’m on a search for a new mineral facial sunscreen. After a nasty rash from a different company’s sunscreen, I tried this one since I’ve used FAB skincare in the past with good results. It’s in the middle of the pack in terms of texture and feeling on the skin – a bit moisturizing, but neither very lightweight nor too heavy. I can’t speak to any white cast – I’m so pale that there’s really nothing that leaves a white cast on my skin. (I have the opposite issue of not being able to use tinted sunscreens.) This doesn’t irritate my reactive skin, and it doesn’t have an expensive price tag. I like the pump, since it prevents the formula from oozing from the tube or collecting in the top. I got the SPF 30 Mineral Powder Sunscreen Brush – Touch of Tan for my teenage daughter to try. What we found is that it takes a little practice to use of you're not used to makeup that comes out through the bristles. You cannot be fair skinned to use the touch of tan mineral powder. I personally would not be able to use it because it would contrast against my skin color and look like I put on a mask. My daughter on the other hand has a darker skin tone than I do, so the touch of tan just gave her a pretty glow. It's nice that you can adjust the tip of the brush for all over coverage or precision coverage around areas like your eyes and nose. She wore the powder outside while doing archery for several hours a few days in a row. She didn't show any signs of sunburn on her face. Sweat didn't seem to cause any issues with the powder either. I like that the brush is refillable and comes with instructions on how to clean it so you can reuse it. Well I know it is not cheap but it's really nice one sunscreen. If you think that you don't need sunscreen on the wintertime you are wrong. Is great when you skiing or walking on the mountains or just on your regular daily usage. I have a very fair skin tone and it's working for me. It's a mineral, translucent powder that you can put on the face after you do your makeup. Very easy to apply. The brush is so soft too. Is not greasy as the regular sunscreens are. Goes on smoothly without affecting your skin ton for flawless coverage. It's also very convenient, just put it to your purse on even to your pocket and carry whenever you want. I received this sunscreen for free in exchange for my honest-to-goodness review. Sunscreen is uber important in my skincare routine. At 40 years old, I've had 3 spots removed on my face, and one Mohs surgery done, and my migraine medication causes even more sensitivity to the sun. Suffice it to say, I have cruddy skin and need to beware. I was pretty excited to give this brush-on sunblock a try, because I kind of hate a greasy face, especially since I sweat a lot. I probably used a lot more of this than was directed because, as designed by the manufacturer, it is translucent. So, I put it on until I could see a good powdery coating on my face and shoulders. After such, I proceeded to do my thing outdoors at the barn, and after only an hour and a half, I was burnt. Boo. My shoulders and neck and my high cheeks were strawberry red. So, I did not have a great experience in using this, but I will give it another try, but I will use a lotion sunscreen as a base. I'm thinking this will help the lotion wear better on my face so I'm not as slick or sticky. But like I said, the concept is great. The packaging is great—purse/pocket sized applicator. I originally tried this out after having a reaction to the cult favorite UV Clear–I think my skin disagrees with the niacinimide in that formulation. Anyway, I was happy with the quality of EltaMD, but looking for something more moisturizing for my combination/dry skin and I found it in UV Facial. This is an incredibly moisturizing and rich formula that does not leave a white cast on my pale skin. It will leave an ever so slight shine on your face, which translates to a glow on my skin, so if you are oily or prefer a completely matte look then this product probably isn't for you. I find it wears lovely under my foundation–something that can be a challenge with sunscreens. I love this formula so much but had to knock a star off because of the use of chemical filters. If this sunscreen was purely physical it would be a 5/5 holy grail formulation. I keep testing out all-mineral sunscreens and always come back to this one. If you are on the drier side and don't mind a chemical sunscreen, try this out!roshni.p
I use this as my daily sunscreen! Honestly I haven’t had a lot of luck with many sunscreens because of white-cast, oiliness, etc, but this one has been the best formula of the ones I’ve tried in the past. It’s a lightweight formula but you can definitely feel it on your face for the first 20 minutes after applying. It definitely protects your skin and it feels like a clean product, and not too heavy. It has a slight white-cast that goes away after a minute of rubbing in. My only downsides are that it leaves an oily/glossy finish (which I personally dislike) and that it pills with other products. The gloss isn’t terrible, you can certainly cover it up with some powder, but not too bad alone. It definitely can pill so I have opted out from using it with makeup or serums. I keep my morning skincare routine very minimal (just wash and moisturize) so that this sunscreen will not pill. I’ve had it pill before with the cerave vitamin c serum. I have literally tried over 20 sunscreens. Finding one that checks all the boxes ingredient wise and that had a nice finish is nearly impossible. Actually, this is the only sunscreen that has met all my criteria. It also makes my skin look and feel amazing. I have acne prone skin, I’m combo oily, I don’t like feeling anything on my face, and I enjoy makeup. I’m also on a retinoid. I have been using this sunscreen for over a year, and continue to come back to it when I go exploring to see if there’s something better. So far, there isn’t! The finish is natural. It’s not too shiny and not too matte. It literally just makes my skin look healthy and moisturized but not oily at all. There is absolutely no white cast. It does not pill under any makeup I’ve tried. It layers up beautifully. I’ve reapplied 3 times in a day and it manages to stay silky and not cakey on my skin. It does have a very mild, pleasant scent- which is great because I hate fragrances in products or ones that smell naturally of battery acid. It does not sting around my eyes AT ALL. It also has the added benefits of improving my skin texture and look of my complexion. Though it doesn’t add coverage, per say, I can go without my powder foundation when wearing this. I've been looking for a sunscreen for my extremely sensitive and rosacea-prone oily skin. This sunscreen blends in quickly (it's a liquidy texture rather than a cream) and makes skin look brighter and smoother – somehow healthier. It may leave a bit of a white cast, but I don't mind because it tones down my redness. Pores look a bit smoother. It doesn't slide around and make an oily mess on the face like many sunscreens do on me after a few hours of wear. It gives a "glowy" finish without being overly oily or greasy. As a person of color, I have found in the past that other tinted sunscreens I've tried are targeted to much lighter skin tones than mine, which is frustrating. My skin is also a combination of dry with a very oily t-zone as well as sensitive to harsh chemicals and fragrances. This has caused me to break out or appear greasy when trying other products. I decided to test this free sample I received from BzzAgent on a day my daughter had a softball tournament because I knew I'd be at the field in full sun all day. The formulation felt smooth and lightweight on my face, which I appreciate as someone who rarely wears foundation. I was pleasantly surprised that the tint blended perfectly with my skin tone. Imperfections in my skin were slightly hidden while still appearing very natural, which I prefer. I reapplied the sunscreen once later in the day and was pleased that there was no flaking, build up, or noticeable issue with the application. I even shared it with a fellow team mom who had forgotten her sunscreen, and she also loved the lightweight feel and coverage. Overall, I really enjoyed using this product and would recommend it to all my POC who've had difficulty finding a time sunscreen that works with darker skin. Absolutely awful sunscreen. I understand that mineral sunscreen will always have some type of white cast, but this one was terrible. I had people come up to me in public and ask me what was on my face! LOL! It was that bad!! I'm like a 2 on the fitz scale so I'm pretty light skin and the cast was just so bad. It also felt very chalky, & drying on my face, yet at the same time looked greasy and felt heavy. This sunscreen really clung to, and accentuated dry patches on my face that I didn't even know was there. It burned upon application too, which I was so disappointed about because I heard fairly good things about this brand being good for people with sensitize skin. Despite the title, this sunscreen is my new favorite, a pretty solid “Holy Grail” skincare product for me! The positives: has such a light, smooth texture, melts into my skin like no other product, allowing ease of reapplication throughout the day as well as general enjoyment of putting it on every day (im just one of those people that wont apply it daily unless I enjoy the experience) Additionally, i love that its a mineral filtered sunscreen (ive got eye sensitivities that prevent me from using chemical filtered spf on my face) as well as the luxurious ingredients and overall formula that agrees with my acne prone skin. I didnt experience any white cast, as it does have a very faint tint but I do have pale skin, so take that into consideration. Despite being white, I do still notice a huge difference between formulas that give a white cast versus those that dont, however I only have my and my friend (who has a much deeper skin tone than me) as real-world anecdotal evidence on the white cast of this product, so obviously thats not a huge sample size. The negatives: the PACKAGING for the cost is pretty abysmal… not only can you not look at this product without the lavender paint peeling off, but you just cant expect consumers to be that careful with a product they (should be) carrying around in their purses to reapply throughout the day! Especially because this is a $60 product from a HUGE name brand company that could very easily have paid more to develop better packaging. The overall bottle isnt bad, i love how thin it is and the dropper/applicator makes it a breeze to carry around and apply, but the paint flaking makes it look cheap. It may be a small gripe to some, but it really bothers me. I ended up taking a scrub brush to it and purposely removing the entire exterior paint on the bottle so that it didnt look so gross and bad. I cannot believe how well done this mineral sunscreen is. Let me start out by saying: if you are able to wear chemical filters, by all means – do that. Mineral filters are a huge pain. But unfortunately, they’re the only option for some of us with sensitive skin (self included). I’ve tried so many mineral sunscreens in my life, and been disappointed by the majority. Sticky, heavy, white cast, and a low SPF. As for THIS product: This was a pricey purchase for me, but I thought that if there was a chance it ended up being nice, it could be worth it. It turns out it’s not just nice. It’s phenomenal! It ticks every single box for me: beautiful application, unscented, non-irritating, no white cast, blurs my skin (what kind of wild bonus is THAT in a sunscreen!?) It’s a mineral sunscreen that – rather than leave my skin looking worse – I look better while wearing it!? A few notes: it’s a thin formula, so you want to be cautious in the application. Due to its price, PLEASE do not attempt to underapply. I’ll add that I like the packaging personally as I’m standing it up at my vanity, but know it doesn’t lend itself to just standing on its own. This is a great sunscreen that applies easily and blends into the skin beautiful without leaving a white cast or oily residue on the skin. It looks great on it’s own since it is slightly tinted so it leaves your skin looking more even and healthy after applying. It also serves as a great makeup primer under foundation. So far I’ve used it on it’s own and under both liquid and cream foundations. I had no issues with it pilling like some of the other reviews are claiming. My guess is that this conflicts with certain skincare products. Now onto the annoying part of this sunscreen – the packaging. For $60, I expect the packaging to be flawless. Unfortunately, like most Tatcha products, the packaging is just pretty to look at but not the most functional. I thought the bottle was so cute and easy to carry around when I first bought it. But after leaving it out on my bathroom counter, I realized that 1. The depth/width of the bottle is too thin for it to stand up on it’s own and gets easily knocked over or just falls over by itself. 2. I bought this in the Spring & have used it every day for months. I’m in the sun a lot and as a sunscreen it works well. I use it once a day & it’s nearing the end now, lasting much longer than I expected. At this point in the products’ life, I can see a bit of oil separation, so I need to give it a small shake before using. Fortunately, I didn’t have any issues with packaging that other reviewers mentioned. I don’t wear concealer, foundation, or any kind of make-up on my skin. I bought this because I wanted something that could even out my skin tone without using make up. In the summer months I did NOT love it. Although the glow is nice, I found it was way too shiny & made my skin look oily & sweaty. That being said, I also bought the SUPERGOOP! (Re)setting powder SPF45 & found the combination of the two worked really well together. I would use this first thing in the morning, and reapply sunscreen with the resetting powder before heading out. The powder toned down the excessive shine while still maintaining the even look of my skin. Now that we’re coming to fall however, I actually really like this sunscreen by itself! I live in a place where the climate during fall & winter is much drier (the sun is also lower in the sky, which makes a difference for shine). As a result, my skin is a lot drier & the sunscreen actually works very well and looks really good. In summary, I would recommend this for the fall/winter, but not for the summer. I was really reluctant to try this sunscreen to be honest, and mainly for the name “super goop”. To me that sounds like the sunscreen was going to be gooey and thick, and if you throw in the word “glow screen” I thought for sure I would be walking around like a disco ball. The consistency of the product itself is quite opposite of what I thought. i only apply a small amount because a little goes a long way. The consistency is thin enough to smooth onto my face and settles into the perfect finish. I’m on day two of trying this sunscreen because I’m wearing it with different products. Yesterday I tried under my full coverage makeup and no greasy face so yeah! This morning I tried it with some bronzing drops to add some color and again the consistency is gorgeous. Overall, I feel like this is a great product, especially for us oily face combination skin peeps, I’m really impressed. I also heard it goes great when mixed with tinted moisturizers so I will try that next. I loved This sunscreen, let’s start there. we went on vacation to Egypt and this was going to be my ultimate test as sweat and direct intense sun would be the test of all tests. I placed it over my vit c serum and moisturizer and applied as directed before leaving our hotels. We took it with us to reapply regularly. For the first couple days the formula kept together but then it separated into a clear liquid and what I am supposing is the golden part. I shook vigorously and it homologated together a bit. But back at the hotel under ac it came back together. This separating was a bummer because no amount of shaking (with normal strength not a machine) would not bring it back together under the heat which when we really needed it. This being said, it still did its job! Protected and nourished my skin while under that intense climate. I would like really like a water proof version for water sports as this washed away when at the beach and snorkeling but kept when sweating. As for people commenting about piling, the chemicals are reacting… what ever is being used underneath or on top is causing the split of the formula. I have acne prone skin that breaks out easily if I use products with irritating ingredients. I love that this sunscreen was formulated exactly for that problem! Most sunscreens on the market (mainly chemical sunscreens) cause me to break out even after double cleansing. I have malasma on my face, so I have to wear sunblock everyday/all day to prevent the dark spots from getting worse. To make matters worse, the most effective sunblock for malasma is zinc based or physical sunblock which leave a chalky white residue when applied. Furthermore I am acne prone. I was really struggling to find a sunblock I felt comfortable wearing to work and in public. When I discovered Amavara I almost cried. The product looks great on my skin – even providing a good amount of concealer for my skin spots. I have been using for months, applying multiple times a day and have not had a breakout. It is natural, unscented, reef and human safe. It has changed my life and made it easier to live with malasma. Be aware – as with any zinc based sunblock, if you are sweating a lot the sweat will bead up on your face. It doesn't impact the effectiveness. Just dab away with a tissue or something. I am 24 year olds and I have dealt with mild, moderate, and severe acne since I was 11 years old! I would rate this 1 million stars if I could. I'm an esthetician and use a ton of products. But this has remained my number one favorite. I use this as my everyday foundation. It is insane how much more confident I feel the second I put on this product. It makes my skin so glowy and hydrated, and evens out any redness on my face. I have converted clients of all fitzpatricks to this. I would suggest possibly putting out a paler tint and a darker tint, because the tint can pull orange on fitz 1/2. I want to love the **** out of this stuff I really do. I think what’s mainly throwing me off is this is a sunscreen and not a foundation. Which I 100% knew that when I bought it, but it’s obviously something to get use to if you mainly use foundation. I do have rosacea and by no means does it cover it up or any other blemishes I have, but it does give a nice tint. It gives your face a little bit of coverage all while looking extremely natural! Which I love! First time applying this I used a makeup brush and I didn’t like the finish. Second time was my finger tips and that looked a lot better. It’s extremely blendable when blended in with your fingers. I love that this is a sunscreen so I’m not so worried about “messing” my face up. Overall it’s a good product. I’m just still in the process of learning to love the way it looks. I love that it’s natural though overall. I’m 27 and love a lighter look now that I’m a mom/married. Alastin’s tinted sunscreen is the BEST. As you can see in the picture it looks darker than my actual skin tone, but it blends perfectly. A little bit goes a long way and I do not have to reapply throughout the day. I started using this product around 6 years ago and will faithfully continue to be dedicated purchaser of Alastin products. They have many products I use, but the tinted sun screen is my favorite (next is a toss up between their cleanser and restorative skin complex). I use it everyday and only purchase it 2x a year. To begin, this sunscreen may be wonderful for those without hypersensitivities. I am on the autism spectrum, and my experiences will be different than those who aren’t. Additionally, I am allergic to chemical sunscreen. Because of this, I have tried various mineral sunscreens with SPF 30 or higher. My current favorite is Bare Republic (abbreviated BR). I order this sunscreen to try and replace my BR due to cost. I ultimately returned this Aveeno sunscreen after one use; it was that bad for me. The packaging is terrible, and the sunscreen actually leaked about 1 fl oz inside the box. After cleaning up the bottle, I decided to try it still. The sunscreen seems very thin in viscosity, however once applied it is very tacky, and feels like honey on my skin. It is difficult to spread, and tugs at your skin to get it done. Immediately after application, my face appeared greasy/oily. I waited 15 minutes to no avail, and dabbed excess shine away. Throughout the day, my face still felt tacky, like Elmer’s glue that won’t dry. Shine returned, for I do not wear makeup. At the end of my day, I was ready to wash this sunscreen off in the shower. My normal face/body wash removes BR in two washes, leaving my skin clean and fresh. I battled with this Aveeno sunscreen to remove it completely. The tackiness remained despite four washes with my facial cleanser. I attempted to use my body wash to remove the sticky residue to no avail. The bottle advertises water resistant, however, it does not advertise cleanser resistant. These factors are why I will not use this sunscreen again, and ultimately returned the item to Walmart. So far, BR matte mineral (not gel) as been the best option for me. I recommend it due to its silky texture, and decent ability to blend, leaving minimal white cast on my olive skin tone. This Aveeno sunscreen simply does not compare, and is revolting with a viscous, tacky texture that endures throughout the day, and remains still after repeated washes in the shower.B
Had never used mineral sunscreens before. Very gentle on sensitive skin, does not sting the eyes and, I have found ,works great for toddlers, as none of the ingredients seem to aggravate the gentlest of skin. It does leave a noticeable white cast. Like reeeeaaally noticeable. If you are not a fan of this, this is not for you. But I believe this is the case with any product containing zinc oxide, so it is not my intention to lambast this bad boy. I work around it by applying a tinted spf on the high points of my face afterwards. In doing that, I feel I get the best of both worlds, mineral and chemical. If you are doing this and you are on the oily side of combination, may be worth getting a chemical spf that settles matte. It says it is fragrance free, and while there is no strong smell, I get a bit of a whiff after I apply. Can't quite pin point what it is but it does have flower juice according to the ingredient list so that must be it. If you are averse to fragrance, even the slightest, mind that. I bought this sunscreen because it was recommended by Hyram for its quality: it's fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and is a mineral sunscreen, which is more protective for the skin. However, I heard a LOT of complaints about the whitecast that this sunscreen leaves. Trust me when I say that it's avoidable! I do have very pale skin, so whitecast does not affect me as badly, but anyone can make this product absorb well if they apply small amounts at a time to each section of their face and gently pat it in with fingers until completely absorbed. The key is not to use too much. If you do and you smear it all over, it will definitely leave a whitecast. So apply the small amounts and do it in layers because this will help it better absorb, make sure your skin is fully protected, and make sure that it does not leave a whitecast. Your skin will just be a little bit brighter afterwards, and it won't feel overly greasy. Compared to a lot of other facial sunscreens with good ingredients, this one is more affordable and of just as good quality.Claire F
Pros!! – I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin. I’m also very sensitive to scents. I had no problems with this sunscreen. -Washed off well in the shower, just scrubbed my arms, etc a few times with honest co liquid shampoo. – Water repelling for water fun! I’m happier that someone wears sunscreen than not at all but I do prefer to follow the American Dermatology Association guidelines which recommend a combination of minerals and chemicals. This is my best easy explanation about sunscreen ingredients I would tell my clients and now I’m telling you. Minerals block and reflect the rays like a shield. Unfortunately, there are some tiny little pinholes in that shield. That's when chemical sunscreens come into play and they help to absorb the rays in a healthy manner instead of letting them become cancer, fine lines, or sun damage. So the combination is ideal. Also using one that has more minerals will be more oil-free and matte because minerals absorb oil. Mineral sunscreen is also more calming to sensitive skin than chemicals alone. So the combination is best. If you take a peek at your SPF and find it doesn’t meet these standards just finish up what you have because you should never throw something away. When you run out you’ll be prepared to upgrade your sunscreen game. Follow my “press and massage” method to apply your sunscreen without a white cast. And then my “hot spot” rule to know when to reapply. Let’s also not argue about SPF. I know recently that some products were found to have ingredients that are known to be cancer-causing. So this was my first time purchasing this specific kind of sunscreen from Bare Republic. I normally use the regular one that isn’t clear. Not a fan of the feel of the sunscreen. It has like little beads or something in it and feels weird as your putting it on. My kids didn’t like it. It does dry clear so that is accurate. It doesn’t smell like mango to me but that isn’t a big deal. It’s the ingredients that I’m not a big fan of. It’s not as clean as I thought it was. I much prefer their regular sunscreen. I wouldn’t buy again or recommend it if you care about what’s in your sunscreen. Disclosure: I received a sample of this product from Poshly for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. I ended up using this product twice this weekend and loved it. The first thing I noticed was the scent. It has a nice scent to it and I really enjoyed that it is not an overpowering scent and that it doesn't smell like coconut since most other sunscreens do. It came out in a light mist, so I didn't have to worry about it going on too thickly and not being able to absorb. After I sprayed it on, I didn't really even notice it was there because it wasn't greasy. While wearing this product I was working in my garden and appreciated that the dirt, mud, etc. wasn't clinging to the sunscreen as I worked. After I was done outside I took a shower and had no issue with the water repelling off my skin due to the remaining sunscreen. It also didn't leave any residue on my clothing. Finally, while wearing this product in direct sunlight for two hours, I have no signs of a sunburn or redness on my skin. I recommend this product and will continue using it in the future.Dream W.
I am going to Hawaii so I went to Target to get reef safe/friendly sunscreen. I looked at all the different options and I bought 4 different kinds. This Bare sunscreen leaves no white residue/white cast, it’s Hawaii reef compliant, water resistant AND it’s 100 spf! I definitely like this one the best. I also tried the Target brand Up&Up mineral 50spf, Neutrogena Sheer Mineral 50spf, and Coppertone Pure&Simple Kids mineral 50spf. Those all had white residue probably due to the zinc/minerals. Target only had the Bare Face but not the Body, I would love to try the Bare Body Clearscreen in the future as well!April G.

And this one is it. It’s got a (n excellent) rating of 1 on EWG’s SkinDeep database. It’s non-nano, reef safe, non-scented, mineral-based (in other words, ~safe~), and it’s easy to apply. I have a pretty fair complexion and need to spend a little time massaging this into/onto my skin because initially it looks a bit pale and splotchy. By ‘a little time,’ though, I mean about one minute 😸. I like to keep my morning skincare routine pretty short. I keep one in my medicine cabinet and one in my bag to reapply as needed. This is the most perfect Sunscreen. I haven’t been able to find a sunscreen that’s not so greasy, especially when you’re have oily skin. It’s like they only make it worse. Well I had my fingers crossed with this one since I’ve already purchased about 7-8 different kinds ranging from Sunday Riley’s, La roche posay, Peter Thomas Roth, neutrogena, Higher Education, and another one from Amazon that is a spray on that is great if it wouldn’t choke me up from the smell, and the chemicals from the aerosol can. I was so excited to finally try Eclipse Sheer Mineral Sunscreen with SPF 30, and it is so lovely. A little goes a long way, and it glides on skin easily and doesn’t leave a white cast or greasiness to the skin. It layers under makeup well, and it can be used all over the body. I especially love that it has ZERO scent! You almost forget you have any sunscreen on at all, and that makes it ideal for daily use. Aside from this, there are so many other great things about this sunscreen. For one, it is reef safe! So many of the sunscreens out there that are terrible for the oceans and marine life. My dermatologist recommended this brand stating that other commercial brands don't provide enough protection. I am a medium brown skinned woman and I decided to try the tinted one in the darkest shade. Some people have claimed that the tints are too light. While it does go on light, if you leave it for about 20 minutes it blends into the skin very well. It provides excellent coverage and I find can double as a lightweight foundation. This sunscreen is too concentrated for the recommended 1/4 teaspoon for the face. However, it is PERFECT as a second sunscreen to take away the white cast from another mineral sunscreen (I use Olay Mineral Regenerist SPF 30). It acts like an incredible foundation and evens out the skin tone (I use Medium – it has a strong yellow undertone). It blends into my skin flawlessly. I've never tried a tinted sunscreen or foundation (and I've sampled dozens) that glides on so smooth with zero cakiness. I still can't believe it. I've had no breakouts and it dries down to a nice finish (because I'm only using a small layer etc). I was reading some reviews about only using a pea sized amount. Remember, this ONLY works if you're not using it as your only sunscreen, but as a topper. The first photo attached shows the inside of my wrist. I'm not tanned there so it appears dark. The second picture is of the top of my hand and I'm very tanned and this shade blends right in. As I've said before, this product is perfect as a topper or mixed into your other mineral sunscreen to eliminate the white cast. I'm so in love with La Roche-Posay. I’m Chinese. I have very dry skin. I bought the T01 Fair along with the Illuminating banana powder. I was a bit worried that it might be too thick, giving me a cakey, yellow look. I was pleasantly surprised.1. I only have to use a small pea-size amount, and it glides on smoothly, not heavy at all, easy to use, just like putting on moisturizer; 2. It gives me an even tone, natural look that lasts the whole day; and 3. I look just as good as compared to the luxury brands cushion gel foundation, ultra-light foundation etc that I’ve been using. It has a light creamy consistency which absorbed quickly into my skin without feeling greasy. Did not irritate my skin nor do it leave a white cast. Since using this product my skin feels and looks smoother. I have sensitive skin and sunburn very easily so I know the importance of using sunscreen and this product provided the necessary sun protection while keeping my skin hydrated. It also comes in a pump dispenser which is very handy. Would be great if it came in a larger size and maybe a higher SPF factor but I definitely recommend using this product and will be adding it to my daily skincare routine from now on. I bought this cream from a local store and then bought more here on the Olay website. This mineral based cream is something I have been searching for. All mineral based sunscreens are pasty and greasy and leave a white film on my face. So many sunscreens make my face break out and I have predominately dry skin. This very light mineral based sunscreen went on smoothly. I did not feel any film or greasiness. AND, most importantly, it works! I did not get burned! Can’t believe this doesn’t have better reviews and more hype. I think Olay needs to market this one better because I’m completely into beauty products and I didn’t even know it had launched a while back until I came upon it. I only use mineral sunscreens on my face (have tried many because I’ve used sunscreen daily on my face for 20 years now) and I prefer only zinc oxide like this one. I usually use tinted versions due to the “white cast” of mineral sunscreens but sometimes it’s great to have a non tinted option due to tinted ones leaving marks on collars, can’t use tinted on neck and chest. This one feels creamy and elegant, lightweight yet protective. No white cast once it settles in (I am light/fair skinned). Great alone or under makeup! I use this on my neck too and sometimes chest. I love the thin sleek lightweight container and pump dispenser. Great for everyday use-goes on easily, spreads well, feels good, comes off more easily at end of the day because it’s not water resistant which I’m fine with. My two wishes would be a higher SPF 50 option (with maybe a light tint if needed to disguise the white cast at that higher spf). Also this is pricey …BUT is is the same size 1.7 as most face spf products! So really the price is not far off from industry standards for this size and lies in the reasonable range when looking at prices of similar products.
