I’ve tried most of the Sun Screens at Sephora, plus UltaMd ones and a few amazing Japanese ones. This is my favorite (along with the Mermaid UV Skin gel Japanese one but it’s full chemical no zinc). The texture is amazing. My skin is hydrated but not greasy. It leaves with moisturized, wet, fresh, glass skin shine- a glow which is NOT a weird greasy film or a weird glitter sparkle like other sunscreens. Great for dry skin, and it has never irritated my skin, I even use it on my eyes lids and my eyes have never felt a sting. My only qualm is that it’s only 30 spf. Biossance, please make a 50 spf!!!!! I use this guy as my daily, casual, indoor with small errands to run sunscreen. But I do use other 50 spf sunscreens when I’m outdoors or when it’s very sunny outside. I don’t feel comfortable wearing by this as the weather heats up now in Spring. I know however that this will be my winter go-to, when I need something moisturizing and comfortable without such a need for high spf (although again, 50 spf would be much preferred). Highly recommend. For casual daily use, especially for indoor days. I wouldn’t use only this on sunny days or outdoor days however, on those days I recommend folks wear 50 spf.DamaraAndBast
Let me start by saying DO NOT use this if you have dark skin. I’m the palest person I know and you can see this on my skin. I think that’s just the nature of zinc oxide sunscreens but I’m not totally sure. I used to really like this and I had bought it because of Hyram like a lot of other people. One of my biggest concerns with this sunscreen is the fact that it has Isostearic Acid which is a well known acne causer but I didn’t realize this until my dermatologist pointed it out and it was too late to return this. I have not noticed any breakouts yet that I can contribute to this sunscreen but just know it’s a possibility because of that ingredients, Cosdna actually ranks it as a 5 in the acne category. My other quarrel with this sunscreen is just the way it applies. This is not moisturizing even though it might seem like it when you first put it on. It dries QUICK and will not blend into the skin properly if you let it dry before it’s fully rubbed in and you’ll also have white streaks on your face. This also dries down sticky and will have a bunch of hairs and dust stick to your face. I’ve also found that throughout the day at work, I’ll have white flakes pilling and flaking off on my chin and it’s very noticeable. As for actual sun protection, I’ve never actually used this in a setting where I would get sunburnt, I use this for daily wear so I’m not sure how well it protects against the sun yet. I came to the reviews in desperation to hopefully find some answers as to why this highly rated product wrecked my skin for over half a year. I’ve never had skin issues except for the occasional dry patch during winter time, but five doctor visits and three steroids later to treat the intense itchiness, redness, flakiness, and wrinkles from dry skin (!), I’m reflecting on how this might have started. Around January 2022, I tried two new products for myself: Skinfix face wash and Biossance’s sheer mineral sunscreen. I had returned the Skinfix face wash thinking that was the culprit – the irony here is that the Sephora employee said it was a “bad batch” and that there had been some sort of recall. I continued using the Biossance sunscreen because I always use SPF outside and I liked that it was a mineral sunscreen, left absolutely no white cast or pilling, and made my skin glow. However, I’ve noticed that when I go out and use this sunscreen, I have super itchy rashes and hives appearing on my face and/or neck. The redness and irritation can last for days, or on and off for months as I have been dealing with this. I’ve been making sure I’m hydrated and moisturized, so I’ve had my normal skin for almost a week now – until today. I used the Biossance SPF again and within 20 minutes of being outside, I began to feel the tingle on my jawline. It was too late and now I’m sure it’s been this product this whole time. The dermatologist had dismissed the SPF initially as a culprit, but seeing these reviews..yikes. I have literally lost sleep by using this product because I have been clawing at my face and neck from the intense irritation. I had high hopes for this sunscreen as I am a frequent user of Cetaphil products due to my highly sensitive and eczema prone skin. I've been wearing it every day while out and about in the southern heat and humidity. I will say that it is effective in that it doesn't melt off when I sweat and I definitely haven't gotten any sunburns while wearing it. It doesn't sting when I apply and has no scent. However, there is a reason it says "Ideal for under makeup" on the bottle. The white cast it leaves on your skin is intense. It has covered well with makeup (I use bareminerals original foundation), but there is no way you could use this and just walk out the door with nothing else over it. I have olive skin so I'm sure that doesn't help the situation. If you're looking for an under makeup sunscreen, this could be great for you. I however, enjoy not wearing makeup quite often so once I use this up, I won't be buying again.MamaAllDay
This is a lightweight mineral sunscreen, advertised as ideal for application under makeup. Wait, as far as I am aware, sunscreen should be applied as the last step in your skincare routine. Hm? Anyway, it worked for my skin, however, it is very basic, and it has a minimal white cast. I had to blend it well in order to avoid it. Be careful applying it over your makeup, because it is not fully transparent (minimal white cast). It did not cause any irritation/dryness, and it is lightweight as advertised. However, I am not sure if this sunscreen is reef safe. The other reviews are correct— this Cetaphil Sheer Liquid Sunscreen pills and flakes horribly. I have been using it for almost a year now and I own two bottles. I have applied it every way possible with the same unpleasant results on my face. The key to application with this product is to (1) squeeze a nickel to quarter sized amount in the palm of your hand (2) rub your palms (hands) together and then (3) gently pat the sunscreen onto your face like you are making hand paint impressions in art class. (4) keep patting until you don’t see the white cast. (5) if you need more coverage, repeat these same steps. When I apply this way, I do not get flaking and pulling. Trust me on this one, I’ve applied it other ways and I was out in these streets looking crazy. My husband even called me out a few times, like “what are those white flakes on your face?” I’ve tried other brands like Australian Gold and Coppertone but this Cetaphil sunscreen is the only one that actually keeps me from burning (that means it is working to block sun rays) and I would purchase it again until I find something better.Lena

This was my first time trying a sunscreen from this brand and I was not that impressed. I got this one and the non-tinted version of this, and both were just not that great. They don't sit well over certain moisturizers (I use cerave cream) and can pill/bunch up depending on the skincare you have underneath. The tint on this claims to be universal, but it was noticeably darker compared to my natural skintone. I'm Asian with light/fair skin (Fitzpatrick type 2), and the color difference was so obvious. I applied this to my face and neck, and it was so dark compared to my chest. I was confused because reviews with lighter skin said the tint was fine, but it might also be that people don't apply an appropriate amount for proper spf coverage. The tint on this is really suited for those who are a solid medium/tan skintone. This is also not dark-skinned friendly (I had my friend try it out), as it leaves you looking ghostly. Also, the smell is similar to that of rubber tires. I do like that it's spf 50 and lightweight, but the cons heavily outweigh the pros for me that I would not find myself ever purchasing this again.Kev

That was until I went searching for the best face sunscreen and found this. At first I was hesitant because of the price, and thought about it for a few months. I mean $37 for sunscreen is definitely a lot, but to those wondering if it's worth it: it definitely is. This sunscreen is absolutely amazing, it's light, fluid, makes me feel like I'm wearing nothing at all, and best of all leaves NO WHITE CAST!!! I love knowing that I'm protected and the spf 50 is great for someone like me with super pale skin. The only issue I have with it is that it does leave my face looking a little oily but usually I'll just put a bit of powder on and it looks normal. I would definitely be interested in trying something that has a more matte finish, if available. Also I will say if you use the recommended amount of sunscreen daily you will go through this bottle pretty quick. It lasted about 3-4 weeks for me, so it could be worth investing in a backup sunscreen that's cheaper, but overall I love this sunscreen it's the best one I've tried yet!!Cccmp
I'm so glad I decided to try this particular sunscreen from La Roche-Posay {already being happy with, -and using their SPF50 for children for both me and my son} wanting something that felt a bit lighter for the face and neck especially. I have very sensitive, reactive skin prone to redness {not diagnosed but ticks every box for Rosacea} and not only does this sunscreen not cause any irritations whatsoever, but my skin seem calmer and happier since I've started using this nearly daily and I've had no flare ups and putting it on. There's not even a hint of redness {that can even be brought on by my kind moisturiser that is great for me otherwise}. Anyone with finicky skin knows that this in itself is so nice to find, – but not only have I had these results every time for weeks now, but it also seem to make my make up look and last b e t t e r, which I find hard to expect from a sunscreen. So much so that I've stopped using a primer before make up application {and rather just use this sunscreen and then a cc cream and some translucent mineral veil, and I have had more compliments on my skin than ever}. The consistency is quite runny and light, but I find that to be a great feature for a sunscreen for the face as it melts in with no white cast whatsoever. It stays a bit tacky to the touch {and skin looks healthy 'glowy' on me}, which I now only appreciate as that might be what then has make up sit well on top too. Highly recommend for acne prone, textured skin. Simple fix to the tackiness is putting on bareminerals foundation over it. Buildable and leaves you with hydrated, moisturized, and protected skin. Alone it is very dewy and just the finish for hot dry Florida days. When the humidity kicks up, adding some powder to prevent transfer and keep it from feeling tacky is all you need. Perfect product! I've tried far too many high quality and "clean beauty" tinted spfs and this checks all my boxes. There is no such thing as a perfect spf but with a couple hacks this baby comes close. It's unscented, and water-based with none of the unhealthy ingredients that are already banned in other countries, but that can be sold legally in US cosmetics. It also contains some good ingredients such as niacinamide. The tint works for my light skin. It looks dark when it comes out of the tube but blended in well and has just enough pigment to even skintone without looking like you are wearing makeup. (For reference, my skin tone is about the same as Neutrogena Healthy Skin products in Fair to Light 20 tone.) It has a warm undertone, so would probably be better for people with the same. I'm not sure if it would leave a light cast for darker skin tones, but I don't believe it would leave that ghostly white cast some zinc oxide sunscreens do. I will say I appreciate the matte texture of this sunscreen. However, the color is way too dark. I look completely orange when I put this on my face. The other problem I have is that it pills no matter what I put underneath. I also find it to dry out my skin by the end of the day. I use a strong retinoid every night and I don't love the flaking. Had to return this one.
I use this all summer and have started to use it in winter also- just a smaller amount. It states it is a “primer” and I normally don’t use a primer because I don’t wear foundation but I just use this as I would a tinted moisturizer. I use a serum beforehand and the Tizo on top. I then use a loose powder over, like bare minerals mineral veil. The Tizo blurs pores, adds a really nice color to my fair complexion, and is a matte finish. A little goes a long way! It was originally recommended to me by my dermatologist.JDavis
This “primer” has a good texture and it’s good under makeup. I like that it’s all mineral and spf 40, higher than most primers. However, this tint is not universal and should come in different shades. I am very fair and this tint is much too dark for me. It might work for those with deeper skin tones.

The trick with this sunscreen if you are a POC. Is to incorporate tapping instead of rubbing it into your skin. Rubbing can sometimes irritate your skin and leave a weird feeling or dark color after application. Instead, when you apply play with it a little bit. Tap it around your whole face, I've found that it applies better and leaves a clear dewy finish. You will feel it somewhat on your face but minimal, compared to other mineral sunscreens. This is a great choice if you're looking for a mineral sunscreen that goes on sheer. Again, if you just rub it around it might leave a white cast. But if you tap with your fingers and the palm of your hand to help apply on your face, you won't be left with a white cast.jewel.b
I love this sheer spf! I have really dry skin but I hate the feel of spf for dry skin as it feels like it just sits on my skin. I also have tried spf for oily skin and love that there is no feeling of it being on my skin, but they dry my skin even more. This is the perfect medium for me. I’m pretty pale and this has a barely noticeable white cast on me only for a few minutes. It’s slightly hydrating and gives my skin a really beautiful glow without the oily feel. It’s a dream to reapply too. I spend the day outside during peak sun hours sometimes and I reapply this every 2 hours and I experience no pilling and no added greasyness that some spf can get. At the end of the day my face looks glowy and radiant but feels like i have a moisturizer on. It is slightly sticky for maybe 20-30 minutes after applying but well worth it for me. I did see some reviews talking about the smell and it’s really not that bad these people must use heavily fragranced products because this smells earthy and natural to me. The product comes out quite thick but is a bit greasy to apply and spreads thinly so only need a bit to cover an area, unless you layer. On my south asian/brown (Fitzpatrick 4) skin tone it does leave a slight white caste, especially when applied to the face. The caste does reduce abit after 10min, but is still there and leaves a slight purple-ish tone. It also settles in lines such as on the neck and smile lines, and be careful not to get any near your eyebrows or it looks a mess! It is fine to wear this sunscreen at home or in the garden, but I wouldnt go out in public with this on my face. My sunscreen I use must have a high zinc for protect my face skin from UVA-UVB. In iherb, only two of brand contain a high zinc, this one and Copertone. I use them interchangeably. Zinc sunscreens usually don't have PA. I had to find a sunscreen that high Pa++++ for used together because my country is so hot. Sunscreen is indispensable before leaving the house every time. I don't want my face to have premature wrinkles because the sun has reduced my collagen. I have been using sunscreen since childhood. This sunscreen is super easy to apply to my kids, though it has a weird smell to it. I wish it had a natural scent additive to it. I like that it doesn't leave my hands or the kids all oily or sticky like a lot of other brands. With it being spf50 I don't have to worry about my fair skin children getting burnt in the sun and I can also use it on myself on my sensitive skin areas (face and neck). I got the SPF 30 Mineral Powder Sunscreen Brush – Touch of Tan for my teenage daughter to try. What we found is that it takes a little practice to use of you're not used to makeup that comes out through the bristles. You cannot be fair skinned to use the touch of tan mineral powder. I personally would not be able to use it because it would contrast against my skin color and look like I put on a mask. My daughter on the other hand has a darker skin tone than I do, so the touch of tan just gave her a pretty glow. It's nice that you can adjust the tip of the brush for all over coverage or precision coverage around areas like your eyes and nose. She wore the powder outside while doing archery for several hours a few days in a row. She didn't show any signs of sunburn on her face. Sweat didn't seem to cause any issues with the powder either. I like that the brush is refillable and comes with instructions on how to clean it so you can reuse it. Well I know it is not cheap but it's really nice one sunscreen. If you think that you don't need sunscreen on the wintertime you are wrong. Is great when you skiing or walking on the mountains or just on your regular daily usage. I have a very fair skin tone and it's working for me. It's a mineral, translucent powder that you can put on the face after you do your makeup. Very easy to apply. The brush is so soft too. Is not greasy as the regular sunscreens are. Goes on smoothly without affecting your skin ton for flawless coverage. It's also very convenient, just put it to your purse on even to your pocket and carry whenever you want. Suffice it to say, I have cruddy skin and need to beware. I was pretty excited to give this brush-on sunblock a try, because I kind of hate a greasy face, especially since I sweat a lot. I probably used a lot more of this than was directed because, as designed by the manufacturer, it is translucent. So, I put it on until I could see a good powdery coating on my face and shoulders. After such, I proceeded to do my thing outdoors at the barn, and after only an hour and a half, I was burnt. Boo. My shoulders and neck and my high cheeks were strawberry red. So, I did not have a great experience in using this, but I will give it another try, but I will use a lotion sunscreen as a base. I'm thinking this will help the lotion wear better on my face so I'm not as slick or sticky. But like I said, the concept is great. The packaging is great—purse/pocket sized applicator. this sunscreen could be good, depending on what you’re looking for. it’s good for sensitive skin; it didn’t break me out, and it’s not oily, if anything it’s more drying. it is thick and hard to blend in, but it does eventually blend. it leaves a pretty bad white cast, makes me look like a zombie. also, when you reapply it feels like you have so many layers on your face. i like that its a physical sunscreen that isn’t going to break me out and it doesn’t have chemicals, but i think if i use it in the summer when i’m slightly tan the white cast will be extremely noticeable. ive mixed it with moisturizer that has spf in it and it was easier to blend with less white cast, but i’m afraid the moisturizer is diluting it. it’s a good amount for the price though so if you’re curious, it’s worth trying out.C
The brand is a reputable one and I was happy to find this sensitive skin sunscreen. The cream is very thick in consistency and does not spread easily. It takes some time to rub it on the skin. It's quite affordable but little expensive than other common brands. The cream stays on for few hours and needed to be reapplied. The best part was it did not cause allergies or rashes. I am an older adult – "Irish red" – with basal cell history – live in mid Maryland – got he product the week of 5-1-18, had a few days of 80 – 90 degree full or mostly sunny days. I normally avoid the sun altogether, wearing total clothing coverage, wide brim hats, and zinc ointment on my lips if I do go out during the day (cutting the grass). I even do most of my outdoor yard work in pre dawn hours. Thought would put the product to the full test. Aveeno's good reputation preceded my getting the Baby Continuous Protection Lotion – what prompted me to give it the full test was the brand, zinc oxide broad spectrum SPF 50 sweat and water resistant up to 80 minutes. I chose a day with no clouds, upper 80, lower 90s – went out mid day with a T-shirt, long pants, small cap hat to cover my scalp and hair, work gloves ( took to working in the yard where no shade for exactly 80 minutes ) even timed it. I put the lotion on exposed arms, ears, face, neck (front and back). With a poor or no sun screen at all – I would normally already be showing a developing (bad) burn with this type of exposure. When I ended my time it the sun – I could see my face and exposed arms were a "flushed" color – I was hoping and assuming from working in the heat for the 80 minutes. Got inside, cooled down and the flush color had disappeared – didn't want to claim any victories until I gave my skin several hours to see if a burn was going to show up. Waited 5 hours, took a shower and voila – no evidence of any kind of skin color change. I considered this a big win knowing my skin the way I do. Would highly recommend for any age – it is noted Pediatrician recommended. From my own personal experience – I would recommend careful use of any and all product on the very young – even in the shade, most skin covered – just face exposed, under an umbrella their tender skin can pick up the burn of sun rays just from reflecting from other objects, e.g., sand is a big one. Their tiny cheeks can pick up a bad burn that won't show up til late in a day – frequent application – follow any doctor instruction for the very young. Anyway, I was happy with the quality of EltaMD, but looking for something more moisturizing for my combination/dry skin and I found it in UV Facial. This is an incredibly moisturizing and rich formula that does not leave a white cast on my pale skin. It will leave an ever so slight shine on your face, which translates to a glow on my skin, so if you are oily or prefer a completely matte look then this product probably isn't for you. I find it wears lovely under my foundation–something that can be a challenge with sunscreens. I love this formula so much but had to knock a star off because of the use of chemical filters. If this sunscreen was purely physical it would be a 5/5 holy grail formulation. I keep testing out all-mineral sunscreens and always come back to this one. If you are on the drier side and don't mind a chemical sunscreen, try this out!roshni.p

Honestly I haven’t had a lot of luck with many sunscreens because of white-cast, oiliness, etc, but this one has been the best formula of the ones I’ve tried in the past. It’s a lightweight formula but you can definitely feel it on your face for the first 20 minutes after applying. It definitely protects your skin and it feels like a clean product, and not too heavy. It has a slight white-cast that goes away after a minute of rubbing in. My only downsides are that it leaves an oily/glossy finish (which I personally dislike) and that it pills with other products. The gloss isn’t terrible, you can certainly cover it up with some powder, but not too bad alone. It definitely can pill so I have opted out from using it with makeup or serums. I keep my morning skincare routine very minimal (just wash and moisturize) so that this sunscreen will not pill. I’ve had it pill before with the cerave vitamin c serum. Actually, this is the only sunscreen that has met all my criteria. It also makes my skin look and feel amazing. I have acne prone skin, I’m combo oily, I don’t like feeling anything on my face, and I enjoy makeup. I’m also on a retinoid. I have been using this sunscreen for over a year, and continue to come back to it when I go exploring to see if there’s something better. So far, there isn’t! The finish is natural. It’s not too shiny and not too matte. It literally just makes my skin look healthy and moisturized but not oily at all. There is absolutely no white cast. It does not pill under any makeup I’ve tried. It layers up beautifully. I’ve reapplied 3 times in a day and it manages to stay silky and not cakey on my skin. It does have a very mild, pleasant scent- which is great because I hate fragrances in products or ones that smell naturally of battery acid. It does not sting around my eyes AT ALL. It also has the added benefits of improving my skin texture and look of my complexion. Though it doesn’t add coverage, per say, I can go without my powder foundation when wearing this. I love this sunscreen. It works for me: it's so moisturizing and I love how it makes my skin look. It's so reasonably priced for a larger amount – and I'm so tired of sunscreen getting so expensive for small tubes, when it's arguably the most important step in skincare. It's definitely one of my holy grails, and I have two bottles on backup. However, while I see that the language on this page has changed, I'm concerned about the bottles still stating that this leaves "no ghostly white cast – seriously!" I'm fair-skinned and have found that I really need to rub it in for my skin to not have a purple tint. Once I do, it's great, but I'm worried that someone with a darker complexion that me will think they should be using less than they need to if they do end up having a cast from this. There is certainly less white cast than many other mineral sunscreens on the market, but I think that to market this as having no white cast, as it says on the bottle, could make some feel ostracized if they use this product and it doesn't end up working for them as it could for someone with lighter skin, despite this product stating otherwise.Lizzy
First the good: It's a mineral sunscreen, so it's effective immediately. I always want a mineral backup in case I don't get my sunscreen on early enough. It is pretty thin and goes on smooth. It has a bit of a white cast that mostly goes away decently well (I have fair skin though)–probably the least casty mineral foundation I've encountered. It hasn't caused my eyes to burn (which is more common in chemical sunscreens). On to the bad: My skin feels a little painful after applying. I can't feel any graininess in the lotion, but my eyelids feel like I just used a physical exfolint on them after using it. Makes my skin really greasy both in feeling it sitting on my face, never drying and in shine. For hours–until it's wiped/washed off. This may not happen if you're not using enough, but if you don't use enough you're not getting the SPF 50 labeled. I am still using this as my "work sunscreen" that I apply right before I leave the office, but if I find a better mineral one, this one will be replaced when the bottle is empty. I've been looking for a sunscreen for my extremely sensitive and rosacea-prone oily skin. This sunscreen blends in quickly (it's a liquidy texture rather than a cream) and makes skin look brighter and smoother – somehow healthier. It may leave a bit of a white cast, but I don't mind because it tones down my redness. Pores look a bit smoother. It doesn't slide around and make an oily mess on the face like many sunscreens do on me after a few hours of wear. It gives a "glowy" finish without being overly oily or greasy. I love the simple ingredients and that it doesn't cause any irritation, and I cause use it around my sensitive eyes without stinging or bothering my contacts. As a person of color, I have found in the past that other tinted sunscreens I've tried are targeted to much lighter skin tones than mine, which is frustrating. My skin is also a combination of dry with a very oily t-zone as well as sensitive to harsh chemicals and fragrances. This has caused me to break out or appear greasy when trying other products. However, the Solaire UV Mineral Multi-Defense Tinted Sunscreen addressed both these issues for me beautifully. I decided to test this free sample I received from BzzAgent on a day my daughter had a softball tournament because I knew I'd be at the field in full sun all day. The formulation felt smooth and lightweight on my face, which I appreciate as someone who rarely wears foundation. I was pleasantly surprised that the tint blended perfectly with my skin tone. Imperfections in my skin were slightly hidden while still appearing very natural, which I prefer. I reapplied the sunscreen once later in the day and was pleased that there was no flaking, build up, or noticeable issue with the application. I even shared it with a fellow team mom who had forgotten her sunscreen, and she also loved the lightweight feel and coverage. Overall, I really enjoyed using this product and would recommend it to all my POC who've had difficulty finding a time sunscreen that works with darker skin. Absolutely awful sunscreen. I understand that mineral sunscreen will always have some type of white cast, but this one was terrible. I had people come up to me in public and ask me what was on my face! LOL! It was that bad!! I'm like a 2 on the fitz scale so I'm pretty light skin and the cast was just so bad. It also felt very chalky, & drying on my face, yet at the same time looked greasy and felt heavy. This sunscreen really clung to, and accentuated dry patches on my face that I didn't even know was there. It burned upon application too, which I was so disappointed about because I heard fairly good things about this brand being good for people with sensitize skin. I bought this in the Spring & have used it every day for months. I’m in the sun a lot and as a sunscreen it works well. I use it once a day & it’s nearing the end now, lasting much longer than I expected. At this point in the products’ life, I can see a bit of oil separation, so I need to give it a small shake before using. Fortunately, I didn’t have any issues with packaging that other reviewers mentioned. I don’t wear concealer, foundation, or any kind of make-up on my skin. I bought this because I wanted something that could even out my skin tone without using make up. In the summer months I did NOT love it. Although the glow is nice, I found it was way too shiny & made my skin look oily & sweaty. That being said, I also bought the SUPERGOOP! (Re)setting powder SPF45 & found the combination of the two worked really well together. I would use this first thing in the morning, and reapply sunscreen with the resetting powder before heading out. The powder toned down the excessive shine while still maintaining the even look of my skin. Now that we’re coming to fall however, I actually really like this sunscreen by itself! I live in a place where the climate during fall & winter is much drier (the sun is also lower in the sky, which makes a difference for shine). As a result, my skin is a lot drier & the sunscreen actually works very well and looks really good. In summary, I would recommend this for the fall/winter, but not for the summer. In the future, I’ll probably just buy the mini size and use it when the climate is drier and find something more suitable for the summer.perogypizza
I was really reluctant to try this sunscreen to be honest, and mainly for the name “super goop”. To me that sounds like the sunscreen was going to be gooey and thick, and if you throw in the word “glow screen” I thought for sure I would be walking around like a disco ball. The consistency of the product itself is quite opposite of what I thought. i only apply a small amount because a little goes a long way. The consistency is thin enough to smooth onto my face and settles into the perfect finish. I’m on day two of trying this sunscreen because I’m wearing it with different products. Yesterday I tried under my full coverage makeup and no greasy face so yeah! This morning I tried it with some bronzing drops to add some color and again the consistency is gorgeous. Overall, I feel like this is a great product, especially for us oily face combination skin peeps, I’m really impressed. I also heard it goes great when mixed with tinted moisturizers so I will try that next. If I wear this sunscreen alone without makeup I may dab some powder in my t-zone for extra reassurance but I will try that next.joy.w
I loved This sunscreen, let’s start there. we went on vacation to Egypt and this was going to be my ultimate test as sweat and direct intense sun would be the test of all tests. I placed it over my vit c serum and moisturizer and applied as directed before leaving our hotels. We took it with us to reapply regularly. For the first couple days the formula kept together but then it separated into a clear liquid and what I am supposing is the golden part. I shook vigorously and it homologated together a bit. But back at the hotel under ac it came back together. This separating was a bummer because no amount of shaking (with normal strength not a machine) would not bring it back together under the heat which when we really needed it. This being said, it still did its job! Protected and nourished my skin while under that intense climate. I would like really like a water proof version for water sports as this washed away when at the beach and snorkeling but kept when sweating. As for people commenting about piling, the chemicals are reacting… what ever is being used underneath or on top is causing the split of the formula. This is as far as I go with face makeup and the more I use it the less hyperpigmentation I have thanks to avoiding nasty tints that sink into your pores and cause congestion. Highly recommend for acne prone, textured skin. Simple fix to the tackiness is putting on bareminerals foundation over it. Buildable and leaves you with hydrated, moisturized, and protected skin. Alone it is very dewy and just the finish for hot dry Florida days. When the humidity kicks up, adding some powder to prevent transfer and keep it from feeling tacky is all you need. Perfect product! I've tried far too many high quality and "clean beauty" tinted spfs and this checks all my boxes. There is no such thing as a perfect spf but with a couple hacks this baby comes close. Nice texture — silky but not oily. It leaves more of a dewy, than an oily look. It's unscented, and water-based with none of the unhealthy ingredients that are already banned in other countries, but that can be sold legally in US cosmetics. It also contains some good ingredients such as niacinamide. The tint works for my light skin. It looks dark when it comes out of the tube but blended in well and has just enough pigment to even skintone without looking like you are wearing makeup. (For reference, my skin tone is about the same as Neutrogena Healthy Skin products in Fair to Light 20 tone.) It has a warm undertone, so would probably be better for people with the same. I'm not sure if it would leave a light cast for darker skin tones, but I don't believe it would leave that ghostly white cast some zinc oxide sunscreens do. I received this from FAB for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say I am impressed with this product! I have sensitive, dry, rosacea-prone skin, and this sunscreen did not irritate my skin at all. There are no fragrant ingredients, but there is a super light, almost undetectable smell that I enjoyed. I have pretty fair skin (on the lighter side of Fitzpatrick Type II), and there was a slight white cast visible on me at first. It dissipated quickly after working the product in for a few seconds, though. I'm fairly confident it would leave a cast on darker skin tones. It spreads across the skin nicely and has calming, hydrating, and moisturizing ingredients. It isn't one of those sunscreens that disappears as soon as you apply it, but I like knowing I have sun protection on my face. It doesn't feel heavy or stifling under makeup. As mentioned before, you do have to work it in a little bit. I wish it was higher than SPF 30. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of product in the tube. I use A LOT of sunscreen, and the product lasted a lot longer (almost 2 months) than I thought it would. It is a little on the pricey side in my opinion, but I value a good mineral sunscreen. I bought this product with my own money, here are my pros and cons: Pros: first application goes on well, it blends into the skin very nicely and leaves barely any cast (I have light skin). I like to spread it on my skin and then dab it into my skin and it makes it kind of disappear. It has a natural finish, not too dewy not too dry, just perfect. The tube and design are very well made. Cons: I work in the sun and I reapply my sunscreen three times. Reapplying for the second time isn’t as seamless as the first time, but it’s okay, the cast becomes more visible. The third time just forget about it, I started wiping my face with micellar water before reapplication. It’s a difficult thing to have sensitive skin and have to find new skincare when a company reformulated its products, so I’m on a search for a new mineral facial sunscreen. After a nasty rash from a different company’s sunscreen, I tried this one since I’ve used FAB skincare in the past with good results. It’s in the middle of the pack in terms of texture and feeling on the skin – a bit moisturizing, but neither very lightweight nor too heavy. I can’t speak to any white cast – I’m so pale that there’s really nothing that leaves a white cast on my skin. (I have the opposite issue of not being able to use tinted sunscreens.) This doesn’t irritate my reactive skin, and it doesn’t have an expensive price tag. I like the pump, since it prevents the formula from oozing from the tube or collecting in the top. I bought this sunscreen because it was recommended by Hyram for its quality: it's fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and is a mineral sunscreen, which is more protective for the skin. However, I heard a LOT of complaints about the whitecast that this sunscreen leaves. Trust me when I say that it's avoidable! I do have very pale skin, so whitecast does not affect me as badly, but anyone can make this product absorb well if they apply small amounts at a time to each section of their face and gently pat it in with fingers until completely absorbed. The key is not to use too much. If you do and you smear it all over, it will definitely leave a whitecast. So apply the small amounts and do it in layers because this will help it better absorb, make sure your skin is fully protected, and make sure that it does not leave a whitecast. Your skin will just be a little bit brighter afterwards, and it won't feel overly greasy. Compared to a lot of other facial sunscreens with good ingredients, this one is more affordable and of just as good quality.Claire F
Pros!! – I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin. I’m also very sensitive to scents. I had no problems with this sunscreen. -Washed off well in the shower, just scrubbed my arms, etc a few times with honest co liquid shampoo. – Water repelling for water fun! I’m happier that someone wears sunscreen than not at all but I do prefer to follow the American Dermatology Association guidelines which recommend a combination of minerals and chemicals. This is my best easy explanation about sunscreen ingredients I would tell my clients and now I’m telling you. Minerals block and reflect the rays like a shield. Unfortunately, there are some tiny little pinholes in that shield. That's when chemical sunscreens come into play and they help to absorb the rays in a healthy manner instead of letting them become cancer, fine lines, or sun damage. So the combination is ideal. Also using one that has more minerals will be more oil-free and matte because minerals absorb oil. Mineral sunscreen is also more calming to sensitive skin than chemicals alone. So the combination is best. If you take a peek at your SPF and find it doesn’t meet these standards just finish up what you have because you should never throw something away. When you run out you’ll be prepared to upgrade your sunscreen game. Follow my “press and massage” method to apply your sunscreen without a white cast. And then my “hot spot” rule to know when to reapply. Let’s also not argue about SPF. I know recently that some products were found to have ingredients that are known to be cancer-causing. To me so is the sun. To begin, this sunscreen may be wonderful for those without hypersensitivities. I am on the autism spectrum, and my experiences will be different than those who aren’t. Additionally, I am allergic to chemical sunscreen. Because of this, I have tried various mineral sunscreens with SPF 30 or higher. My current favorite is Bare Republic (abbreviated BR). I order this sunscreen to try and replace my BR due to cost. I ultimately returned this Aveeno sunscreen after one use; it was that bad for me. The packaging is terrible, and the sunscreen actually leaked about 1 fl oz inside the box. After cleaning up the bottle, I decided to try it still. The sunscreen seems very thin in viscosity, however once applied it is very tacky, and feels like honey on my skin. It is difficult to spread, and tugs at your skin to get it done. Immediately after application, my face appeared greasy/oily. I waited 15 minutes to no avail, and dabbed excess shine away. Throughout the day, my face still felt tacky, like Elmer’s glue that won’t dry. Shine returned, for I do not wear makeup. At the end of my day, I was ready to wash this sunscreen off in the shower. My normal face/body wash removes BR in two washes, leaving my skin clean and fresh. I battled with this Aveeno sunscreen to remove it completely. The tackiness remained despite four washes with my facial cleanser. I attempted to use my body wash to remove the sticky residue to no avail. The bottle advertises water resistant, however, it does not advertise cleanser resistant. These factors are why I will not use this sunscreen again, and ultimately returned the item to Walmart. So far, BR matte mineral (not gel) as been the best option for me. I recommend it due to its silky texture, and decent ability to blend, leaving minimal white cast on my olive skin tone. This Aveeno sunscreen simply does not compare, and is revolting with a viscous, tacky texture that endures throughout the day, and remains still after repeated washes in the shower.B
Had never used mineral sunscreens before. Very gentle on sensitive skin, does not sting the eyes and, I have found ,works great for toddlers, as none of the ingredients seem to aggravate the gentlest of skin. It does leave a noticeable white cast. Like reeeeaaally noticeable. If you are not a fan of this, this is not for you. But I believe this is the case with any product containing zinc oxide, so it is not my intention to lambast this bad boy. I work around it by applying a tinted spf on the high points of my face afterwards. In doing that, I feel I get the best of both worlds, mineral and chemical. If you are doing this and you are on the oily side of combination, may be worth getting a chemical spf that settles matte. It says it is fragrance free, and while there is no strong smell, I get a bit of a whiff after I apply. Can't quite pin point what it is but it does have flower juice according to the ingredient list so that must be it. If you are averse to fragrance, even the slightest, mind that. At first, I am hesitant to buy and use this because I know I have sensitive skin, but when I read a few reviews, I decided to try it by myself. And now, I have honest reviews: 1) Since it was Dermatologist Recommended, I also recommended it to you. Even though I have sensitive skin, it helps my skin from sunburning because of SPF 50. at the same time, it was Naturally-Sourced and 100% Zinc Oxide Active Ingredients. 2) And it is proven to me also that this is Water Resistant (80 Min) 3) Very light feeling when you put it on your skin. I bought this while on vacation in FL and now I love it. I have been trying to find a sunscreen that works for me and this does. I have eczema and very sensitive skin but this doesn’t irritate me. My eyes are also very sensitive and I’m usually fine with this if I apply lightly around my eyes. The white cast is not great but if I rub it in for 30-60 seconds and follow with a blending brush I can get it to go away but I’m also very pale. When you sweat it can turn white (I had that happen in FL) so watch for that but for everyday use that’s not an issue for me. I despise when products pill on my face as many sunscreens do but that hasn’t been an issue for me. I also look very shiny with some other sunscreens and I don’t love that but this one finishes down much less shiny I wouldn’t say it’s matte though. So far it’s been one of my favorites. I finished a bottle of this around 1.5 to 2 years ago. It was one of the first few (10?) mineral sunscreens I tried with when I first learned about the sensitive skin safe sun filters. I could finally start to wear sunscreen without crying! Previously, I forgoed daily SPF because it would give me rashes, make my face burn (sting) and give me eye irritation. Since trying more mineral sunscreens (because who doesn’t go through a phase of obsessively trying all the mineral sunscreens you can get out there when trying to find a daily mineral SPF?), I have realized this isn’t a very good sunscreen. Using the proper amount, my face would be quite white/blue/purple? And that’s the white cast on someone fair (fair as in the lightest shade of concealer is a bit to too dark for me- fair). I can’t imagine the white cast from this SPF working on anybody, I wore it with a full face of makeup. The zinc (even with shaking the bottle to mix it) is a bit gritty and could irritate my skin when I was applying it. It clung to dry patches, and on top of that caused flaking and further dehydration. Dry skin and this sunscreen just do not mesh. The formula is super liquidy and not moisturizing at all. I think this would work well with oily skin types, but can not vouch as my skin is super dry.
I have been using this as my daily face sunscreen for over a decade. I have tried other brands and no other brand compares. I am asian with a pale complexion and don’t wear makeup. I like this because: 1. Goes on quickly and blends quickly 2. Makes my complexion look better – more even toned; reduces visibility of age spots 3. Does not get greasy or make my face shine as the day goes on 4. Provides good all day protection – used at amusement parks, on the beach in Hawaii I would cry if they stopped making this. In the past few years, they seem to run out of it online and in the stores over the summer months so I have learned to hoard them – lol.Reviewer
