Reviews:
I used to have an Hitachi fs10. It was fantastic. I finally wore it out so I bought another one and it only good for chocking a wheel or something. It's sad what happened to that company. So I tried this unit and so far I like it. It's well designed and fits against the wall no problem. It's easy to adjust. Feels very accurate though it does have a bit of play. So a light hand for compound cuts will be needed. It's quite heavy so taking it to a job will be a little harder. People seem to like the dust collection but with out a vaccum the little bag is a joke. I could trim a house with this.Arrrghh
This is quite the saw! I gave it 5 starts but was considering 4 only because out of the box, one of the rollers at the bottom edge of the blade guard had fallen off. Luckily, I found the wheel in the bottom of the box and was able to find the locking or snap on cap at my local hardware store. Other than that, the accuracy was dead on except for the 45-degree left and right. That may have been my fault as I started messing with it before I discovered that there is a feature the tips it to 47-degrees. The setup, adjustments, and fine-tuning capabilities of this saw are excellent. Be sure to have an 8 mm open end wrench available. (A 5/16" ignition wrench will work too. What I had.) I also used my Wixey Digital Angle Gauge to check the settings which is MUCH easier than using a 12" Combination Square which they show in the manual. I also like the fact that one can lock the slide in or out and set the tension on how easily the slide will move. The manual has several pages on how to do different setups. After my setup/re-setup, I made several different types of cuts with scraps. The saw is very accurate. Bottom line… Open the box, READ the manual and then set up your new saw!Lumberjack1
I originally bought this saw after exhaustive research and found that the Bosch will save me some space and deliver superior quality and accuracy. Out of the box, cuts were not square. 90 degree cross-cuts were off by 1 degree. I followed the instructions and adjusted the miter detent with unequal angle measurements (90 degs) on both sides of the blade! I could never get it right. So, blade / fence angle could not be adjusted. I tried another brand new blade from Diablo and I still got the same issue. I never bothered checking miter or bevel angles as they would mean nothing with straight cuts being off. The far left screw head on the miter detent scale for adjustments was stripped off trying to unscrew it. The other 3 did not. Dust collection is useless with a very small dust port that collects some, but not most, of the dust. For the price and the name I expected to have better engineering. Bosch used to set the bar for quality products and machinery when made in Germany. For a hobbyist like me, price is expensive and I thought it reflected on quality – and that's what I needed for the fine work that I do – but on the contrary. It's frustrating having such an expensive tool sitting there without being able to use it while relying completely on my table saw. I will return it.Tarek

Reviews:
I have used this for renovation work over the last 6 months. It has been a great value for the price I paid. It has some issues with locking precisely onto the miter angle, but as long as you watch the indicator and double check to be sure you are on the right angle, it works great. BTW, if you aren't willing to double check your miter angle, you are free to buy a better, name brand saw for 5 times the price and save a few seconds of your time… Overall, this saw makes solid repeatable cuts and mounted on the folding, rolling stand I can set it up, make cuts and stow it away in minutes. Not a bad deal at all. BTW, this 12 in saw is a replacement for a HF 10 inch version I used for like 10-15 years for all kinds of stuff. I finally put the knife in its coffin putting a masonry blade on it and cutting a bunch of cement block and cutting the faces off regular bricks to make thin veneer bricks. That 10 inch saw is still in my shed and still works, but it is so rough and dirty that it is only for special jobs now.Scott V
The saw was very easy to assemble. The instructions were clear. Everything was perfectly aligned out of the box. The saw is easy to use and has lots of features. I love the dual lock releases. It's not too heavy given the size and your of saw that it is and the dual handles make it easy to carry. It came with a blade. The saw was on sale and was less expensive than every other saw I looked at for my project (cutting 4×4 posts and 12" boards). Tough to beat a bargain like this. It easily cut the wood (I go slowly to get clean cuts) and made precise cuts. The seems to be holding up well to the use and looks like it should last a long while. I mounted it on a stand which makes it comfortable for making my cuts. My only complaint is that the sawdust completely bypassed the collection bag. I was using it outdoors and there was a breeze. I'll add an update after I try it with my collector indoors.NJ Techie
I bought this after staring at it online for a few weeks, and I should have just done it sooner. Yes, it has it's drawbacks… like the screw stops for the side slide outs were bent on mine, neither miter angle gauges were accurate out of the box, the laser guide can't be seen in daylight, and it has the typical Chinese electric motor "is this thing on fire?" smell… but the saw has plenty of positives. The power is very good, the slides and position locks are pretty decent, and it has a nice large fence. I also really do like the nice and bright LED and even the laser guide, even though the laser is a little dim, I at least found it to be aligned dead on. Once you get it unpackaged, get a blade (sold separately) on it, square up the fence, and adjust the miter gauge arrows to be accurate… this is actually a fantastic saw for the money. I would definitely recommend this saw to anyone considering a saw in this price range. It's crazy to be able to get a sliding, dual bevel 12" miter saw at this price point and have it not suck.Rob

Reviews:
We purchased this miter saw for some immediate and upcoming projects since our last saw had just given up after 12 good years. Unfortunately, we are unable to use this at all. The blade screw is in so tight we are unable to loosen it at all. It is now completely stripped. So we now have to remove it from the stand (which had it's screws pretty tight as well), package it back up, and return to the store. The projects are delayed, we live a decent ways from the store, and the inconvience and frustration cannot be measured.mhawks
Bought this saw about 10 or so years ago and was great. Recently I can’t get 90 degree cuts. Saw is unplugged and guard is clamped. Arm is in the home position(up all the way) and I have my electronic Wixey gauge mounted to the side ( magnetic) of my new 12 inch blade with 100 teeth. Saw set at 90 degrees and I slowly bring the arm down all the way and my gauge reads 89.5 degrees. This is too much out of alignment for making jewelry boxes. Checked everything to manual and I believe that my problem is in the trunion and pivot pin. I need some help. When I call the customer service I get no help. They tell me to take it to a service center for $185.00. Has anyone experienced this problem, I need your help. Thanks, Abbey ThomasThomas543
This saw is the absolute worst saw I have ever had the misfortune of ending up with. Total junk. First the motor has almost zero power. Cutting baseboards, crown moulding and 2X4’s for framing it bogs down and struggles big time. I cut slowly and it still has a lot of trouble cutting through most wood products i put through it. Second is the blade on it. It’s great for cutting framing (if the motor had the power to keep the blade turning), but all the bolts in the saw were drown in loctite. So when it came time to remove the blade I fought to get the cover opened to get to the bolt holding the blade on. The bolt that holds the blade on is pretty much fused into the saw and nothing has been able to break the bolt free so far. I and a few other trades guys have used an assortment of wrenches, Allen keys and other tools but nothing will loosen that blade. First off Allen keys on this saw do not fit, we have tried imperial and metric sets. They are either too large or small and spin freely. Dewalt must have created a size all their own to get the bolt built. But if you want a highly underpowered saw with no hope of replacing the blade then this is the perfect saw for you. Just don’t try cutting anything thicker than a piece of paper or you may have issues (thin cardboard may be possible if you cut very slowly).DewaltNoMore

Reviews:
I have had this for over a year now, and because it is in the basement, I still use the older version of this because that one is in the garage. The problem this has is the redesigned dust bag. The older one has it pointing up which causes a lot of shavings to fall back out. The new version has it pointed more horizontal, but the opening in the housing is very narrow in the middle which plugs up immediately unless you are using a fine tooth finish blade. Sad, because that was one of the flaws of the old design. My shop vac has to work harder to clean up the workbench area now.JJ48
I got this during the Black Friday week for a lot less than its advertised price, but closer how much it is sold for on the big online retailer. So from my point of view I bought the cheapest branded mitre saw on the market and my review will keep that in mind. The saw comes in a fairly small box which is great as I can re-use it for storage. This is a non-sliding saw so it is limited in what it can do, but it met my needs for my project and buying this was essentially the same price as renting one, but it met my expectations in terms of the quality of the cut. The metal base feels cheap, I know they market it as light and it is heavy enough not to move when you push the trigger, but be careful not to drop it. The angle indicator could have been better, the line on the sticker is not at the same angle as the line on the clip you push to rotate it, this is annoying but in the end if you align the tip of the sticker you still get the proper angle. The dust collection bag does its job well, however the saw will send wood dust everywhere. I would say 2/3rd of the dust ended up outside of the bag, and I even replaced the bag with the ShopVac and it didn't help much. Plastics feel a bit cheap, but nothing that worries me. Like I said, for the low price I paid it was money well spent. This is not a professional unit but for the occasional home project, it will be perfect.Olivier212
Bought this saw to replace an aging Delta that had served me well for years. Chose Metabo due to great warranty and good experiences with their compressors. Had my saw now for about a month. Accurate, repeatable cuts. Hold down is new to me but appreciated when working with small stock. Much better dust collection (using either the supplied bag or my shop vac) than my old Delta had but I think the Metabo is somewhat nosier. Blade guard does a great job of being effective and unobtrusive.Don A

Reviews:
This appears to be a very nice saw ! Slider is very stable and moves smoothly . Blade , fence and tilt angels were right on . Have only cut a couple of pieces of wood to check operation and true . Plenty of power when cutting a 4×4 . Shadow laser was correct and easy to see . This is nicely made and much nicer than other saws in this price range . Fence and deck are very well finished and larger than other saws in this price range . Very impressed and hope to enjoy many years of service . Be aware if mounting on a work bench this saw requires about 6 inches more depth for full travel than a 12 inch non sliding miter saw . Had to add an extension to my bench but the added capability of a slider are worth it to me . The slide with a 10 inch blade allows me to cut larger pieces than my 12 inch non slider and blades are cheaper !moneypit
I have not worked on a project with it yet, but I have tested it Pluses: . Construction seems strong and beefy . Instruction book gives excellent directions on checking & adjusting for squareness . Convenient trigger location for either left or right hand operation . Have not changed blades but design seems much more accommodating than my last 10” single bevel sliding miter saw . Lighter than most other miter saws of the same size . Convenient & strong lock down arm (do need to get use to working it) . I like how this saw locks/unlocks when changing cutting angles (beefier than my last one) Minus: Just one: blade guard dies stick a little when I manually move … possibly lubricating the arm that it is attached to or the two wheel pinsFlyfishmanJD
I have never owned or used a Miter Saw until I received this saw. I had seen videos of miter saws being used by others to make both simple cross-cuts, miter cuts, bevel cuts and miter/bevel cuts and thought it must be very complicated to make such cuts. Was I ever wrong!! This saw is simple and easy to use. I bought it primarily to install a yard fence. therefore, it must easily cut the fence pickets and 4X4's. As advertised, this saw will cut a 4X4 in a single pass, out performing other makes of 12 inch saws. My unit required minor adjustments to perform square cross-cuts. I did have to work to bring the saw into making a square cut, but this is attribute to my lack of experience adjusting any saw. In summary, I could not have made a better purchase than this saw. My research on the web and YouTube proved to be correct in concluding the 10 inch Skil Dual Bevel Sliding Miter saw was the saw for me. The cross-cut capacity of this saw alone makes it the best value on the market. Looking forward to learning how to use this saw.New Miter User

Reviews:
Bought it on sale. Maybe I was lucky but all angles were perfect right out of box. Pros are that it is easy to set up, light weight, small footprint, cuts well – it just does the job. Cons are laser is hard to see or non existant outside and dust collection bag is useless – sawdust is everywhere except dust collection bag. But for the price it is an excellent little saw.Rob D
Just bought the saw on sale. Disappointed when I discovered that the It will only cut a 45 angle cut on one side. Means you have to cut from the bottom to get another 45 in the other direction. Even the cheapest machines angles on both sides. No extensions on either side of the machine to support lumber. The plate covering the saw bolt is micky mouse, the screw is so small it does not stay in place. Cheaply made. Not worth it even on sale. Problem, you have to put it together to realize these issues which means you can’t return it. Unfortunate. Would not purchase againLenF
I initially purchased the Evolution Sliding Mitre Saw due to the need to move it into place everytime I needed to use it (lower back issues). Although there are lighter mitre saws out there, the Evolution has a manageable weight and good reviews. I also love the fact that it has a slow start motor. It may be an issue for someone rushing to get a job done but I believe there's less chance for serious accidents when you hear the motor starting up and need to abort your cut. You can feel the quality of this saw. I use it as a homeowner and definitely recommend it.JakeC

Reviews:
Before buying this Milwaukee miter saw, I did some research shopping. 1) Not all miter saws are built the same way (ie. motor verses battery), 2) Cutting platform height and depth varies between brands (ie some have small blade height and large cutting width and visa versa), 3) Micro-angle adjustments verses whole angle adjustments, 4) Ease of adjustments (locking verses twisting), 5) Clamping and lighting accessories, 6) Hand holds for carrying and moving. Using this list provided me the best reason for buying a Milwaukee brand miter saw. However, buying this unit NEW was not an option (over $700). But when I found that they had refurbished units for hundreds less, I knew I found what I was looking for. The refurbished model I received looked like new! The best parts are that I can saw up to 8 high and up to 13.5 long. The sawdust catcher leaves very little mess to clean up (when cutting wood 4" high and smaller. Cutting wood against a level surface is much better than using a free-hand circular saw. And you do not have to worry about getting a blade because it comes with a full 12 cutting blade! This may not fit everyones budget, but the accessories and warranty that comes with this unit is by far a great investment and something every home remodeler needs to get the job done.teknolysis
OK .. First off, I must bow my head in shame. Even though I have a ridiculous amount of Milwaukee tools and nothing yellow, after reading all kinds of reviews from "experts" I fell for it and bought a DWS780. They were saying things like "Yellow tools have been in the saw business forever, they know what they're doing". Well, after 2 days of having that saw, I happened to be at a friend's place who just bought the Milwaukee. I used his saw and couldn't get over how much smoother it was in every way. The rails glided so much better, were on the bottom instead of the top, the tray rotated better, it had a passive start, constant RPM technology, an electric brake, a gear driven motor so no belts to stretch and break, the fine tuning actually came in really handy and did an awesome job, the digital readout was a welcome added bonus and the whole saw in general just feels better to work with!!! OH!! And the dust collection is night and day! Its SO much better on the Milwaukee!! For a tool I plan on having for years, the answer was clear and I returned that yellow piece of junk asap and got what I KNEW I should have bought in the first place! The only explanation I can think of that the yellow tool had more votes in the comparisons is those people are too sold on their yellow collection and have never bothered to even look at the specs of other saws! I also got to try out a blue just the other day and while the axial-glide system is maybe even slightly smoother then the Milwaukee, the Milwaukee is still by far better because of all the other reasons listed above and also that blue saw didn't seem to want to give an accurate cut, not sure if it was the blade or the saw causing the flex, but it just assured me that I had made the right choice in exchanging for the Milwaukee. After just over a month now with my Milwaukee, 1,200 feet of hardwood floor, moldings and currently working on building kitchen cabinets, this saw has worked wonderfully for me and I love it! RED TOOLS ARE BETTER!Pete
I haven't actually used this yet, but I'm reviewing the fact that I bought this because it was on sale, and the RIDGID Universal Mobile Mitre Saw Stand with Mounting Braces, that they say is universal. BUT with this saw, the way it rotates to the mitre spots, the mounting nut and bolds DO NOT WORK. They stick up too tall and don't allow full rotation, plus the back ones stop the saw from extending back. Even if you use their option 2 of mounting on a board, it still wouldn't work. My fix, after 2 days of trying to figure it out, was to turn the mounting bars around, buy new operator side hex nuts and bolts (5/8ths) that can sink in the spots and sawed off the back ones. You have to make sure they can be reachable inside the mounting bars. I like the saw and I like the stand, I'm just trying to make others less frustrated.DIY Guy

I took it out of the box and wasn't quite sure about it – it felt light and almost flimsy. I've used it for a couple light projects, though, and it's perfect. Great price, great quality for the price and handy and versatile. Excellent. The only down is the sawdust. The bag isn't as good as it could be and there was sawdust all over it when I finished both jobs, but nothing a little rag and elbow grease couldn't get out.JenD
Of all the tools I own, this is by far the most useful. I used to use a skill saw for all cutting and the mitering saw is more accurate and quicker. I've been looking for projects to do just so I can use it! I have only 2 small complaints. There is a sawdust catcher, but it only catches about a third of the wood dust. The rest flies out the back and I have to sweep it up afterward. The second complaint is the clamp that holds the wood in place is a bit finicky and I have to hold it a certain way or the tightening knob just keeps turning without actually clamping against the wood. The unit is not too heavy for a woman to carry. I have no reason not to recommend this product to anyone for home projects.Copes
I am really happy with this purchase. I was looking for a saw for small to medium size projects around the house and I am a Ryobi fan already. This is perfect for my needs. All reviews I looked into before my purchase were positive and true to what they say. Bonus if you can purchase it on sale too!Melissa

Reviews:
I have a small shop and most of my past projects have been for the family and friends consisting mostly of bookcases, blanket chests and other large items. Because of my age I began getting various injuries wrestling these things around. Then I started thinking about creating small boxes to satisfy the want lists of some of the women in my family. A whole new ballgame ensued; a degree off with crown molding could be covered up with putty, the same thing on a small jewel box just wouldn't fly. I really began focusing on quality of materials and precision of workmanship. My little Bosch jobsite table saw would give me excellent rips for small pieces but crosscutting was an endless source of frustration, plus neither it nor my other miter saw would cut stock more than 5 inches wide. My radial arm saw would give me 12" cuts, but it's a hassle to setup and a bit of overkill for the 1/4" X 12" X 24" Baltic birch stock I'm now working with. This Bosch sliding bevel saw is so light and compact that it's easily placed on my Festool MFT table, then can be placed on a modified industrial moving dolly that stows when not in use. I mostly use Rockler's universal dust extraction hose hooked up to my 2 1/2" Shop Vac that's very fast and efficient. Loosening the four Phillips Head screws I was able to get 90 degrees with dead on accuracy this time around. I'm very happy with this saw, it's a very worthwhile addition to my shop.Hugh T.
Very good saw, crummy blade, for a woodworker. I replaced the blade with a Freud 96 tooth crosscut blade, and this combo works great. Usually, woodworkers don't need double bevel, compound miter saws, as I've never used the bevel capability. Always did it on my table saw. Maybe different needs for construction workers. Saw came pretty well set up, I checked the accuracy and didn't have to change a thing. Easy to use. Just sight down the blade face to see your cut mark, and cut. Don't need a laser line, which never stay in tune. Really happy with this purchase.John B
Been doing renovations and needed my own chop saw. The bevel and slid capability only improved the proposition. Makes terrific cuts and can be tweaked to ensure the preset angles are exact. Quite compact and a terrific piece of engineering. Although a smaller blade (8.5”) it handled all the timber I was using without issue and the operation is very smooth, and was a great cost option compared to similar models by other well know brands.MacFunk

Reviews:
First off this thing is as smooth and accurate as can be! The detents are exact and rock solid making it easy to go from angle to angle. I’m a big fan of the shadow line indicator. It references off the blade giving you precise placement without ever having to calibrate (not sure how well it would do in the blaring sunlight). I took the dust bag off and hooked up my dust collector and it probably picked up over 90% which for a miter saw well exceeds my expectations. The worm drive makes it hands down the most powerful miter saw I’ve ever used! You need to go a bit slower with the stock blade to prevent chatter but I plan on switching it out with the newer blade I already have. This is definitely one of my new favorite tools and I couldn’t be happier to have it in the shop! They did it right on this one!Zaxe_woodworks
I have had this saw long enough to say that this is the best saw I ever owned. It gives you nice, clean accurate cuts. I think the only negative for me is the shadow line… I would have an easier time seeing it if it were a laser. All in all, if you are looking for a saw where you actually get what you pay for… Look no further.Joekers75
I gave it 5 Stars and never cut a piece of wood yet just checked it out , made some adjustments and ran it . I do have to say , I did find 3 loose screws and snugged them up . That said , You might ask ??? why did this guy give it 5 stars ?? Its simple , I'm not new to this and I been looking at saws for some time now and I have to say what they are given 4 & 5 stars to that I look at ?? Hmmm! you got me ? after looking at this thing and the way it's made it's second to none . why this SAW is not in the top 5 you got me ! BUT ! when I start my next job with it and IF I do find something wrong with it . I'll bite my tongue and repost and update , But don't hold your breath because this thing is a winner .Nathan

This saw comes out of the box looking like a Makita product. Compact, enough weight to stabilize it and beautiful machining. It cut perfect cross cuts and 45 deg cuts with no adjustment on my part. The bevel angle of the cuts was perfect at 90 deg. If you buy this saw, I encourge you to buy the table vise sold as an accessory. I think it is a unique accessory that will greatly improve both safety and accuracy of angle and bevel cuts.B.i.t.F.s.
I have been using this saw on my job sight. Over the years some 40+ years as a cabinet maker and cabinet installer I have owned maybe five different chop saws. This one by far is the best for many reasons. It cuts like butter even though the blade showed up with two carbide tips broken off of it. The blade was slightly loose as well and this affected it's performance in the beginning. Until I spoke with a service female who offered that the blade maybe was loose. She was correct and its been working beautifully ever since.Paul
This is a really nice saw. It seems well made with heavy gauge materials. Sturdy, very powerful, strong table and fence, and very accurate angled cuts. It does have braking when stopping, there was some discussion about that. Only four stars because the sales add clearly states "Made in the USA" and it is not. The complete saw is made in China. Also only having the two front legs for mounting on a bench or stand seems a dumb design to me. The saw starts and stops with a lot of torque that over the years might lead to cracking from stress being put only on the front legs. I modified one back leg to allow mounting on one back leg.M.

Reviews:
Just picked this up at my local Lowe’s today. Read a one star review that stated how difficult installation was. I put mine together in 5 minutes ( extremely easy and didn’t even need the instruction manual). Kudos to Craftsman, as this design is well thought out! I’m using this to make several cuts of quarter round trim after installing laminate flooring. The unit is perfect in size for similar jobs( not cumbersome like my large electric miter saw, but not flimsy either). I wish I bought this sooner bc it is a huge time saver from traditional hand saw/ miter box work. Great job Craftsman!!!Jtoomey

Save your money and DO NOT BUY!!! The biggest asset of this saw is its biggest LIABILITY, the laser. The laser is positioned in a spot where it is hit by sawdust and pitch by the blade and obscures the light. Cleaning it with a soft dampened cloth with dish detergent did not help and using anything stronger may ruin the clear plastic cover. By the way, I contacted Skil and the clear cover is not replaceable. Skil's answer was to replace the laser. REALLY??? I have to do that after every dozen or so cuts??? So much for the 3 year warranty!gardid
only fault i see so far is the lazer is useless. not bright enough unless you're in gim lightinghounddog
I followed the instructions for setting everything up, and they were easy to read and understand. Most things on this saw worked right out of the box, except the fence which wouldn't quite get to square. I found that the factory holes upon which the fence mounts would not allow for squaring, so I used a drill bit to mill them out some. Everything else works fine.Jeremy K

Reviews:
Bought this saw a few weeks ago to replace our job site/installation saw. I chose this saw because we have the same saw already, just under the Hitachi name. That saw has been the workhorse for my custom cabinetry business and the Metabo HPT saw is the exact same saw just under the new name. I’ve been extremely happy with this saw. It was almost perfectly accurate out of the box. We’ve done a big timber frame deck, cut composite decking, cut oak stair posts, cut trim, cut framing lumber, cut maple faceframe parts and plywood, and the list goes on in just a few weeks. This saw has been dependable, accurate, powerful, and durable (in the first few weeks of use). The only thing that’s taken some getting used to is the safety switch. You have to depress it, then Pull the trigger and it’s a bit less comfortable left handed. But I’m used to it now! In my opinion, this is the best miter saw in this price category and even better than saws almost twice as expensive. We chose this over highly reviewed other brands because we have experience with the product and you get so much quality for the price.KandEReview
I bought this saw a month ago to upgrade from my old 10 inch sliding miter saw. I'm very impressed with the how high the fence is for cutting large crown moulding vertically nested, which my old saw lacked. The numbers on the miter and bevel scales are easy to read and adjust. The extra cut capacity with this saw has also been a huge upgrade. It's been a great space saver in the shop since I don't have a lot of room to work with. Out of the box, the blade and fence were 90 degrees and didn't need any adjusting. The laser needed some tweaking, but was able to get it lined up with my cut lines. I also needed to put a little extra grease on the slide rails, which made it nice and smooth when slide cutting. Overall, I'd highly recommend the product if you're in the market to upgrade.SP3344
I bought this absolute monster of a saw a little over a month ago. My woodshop is really hard on tools, which is why I'm team green! This saw has cut through several White oak barnwood beams with absolutely no hesitation. I was actually not aware that this saw had a brake until I used it for the first time. It was a feature that I never knew I needed or wanted. Lots of time saved by not having to wait for the blade to spool down. An added benefit of the brake that a lot of people dont realize, is its ability to minimize the time spent in a dangerous situation should you get any sort of binding in the blade or something youre cutting shifts because you misjudged the balance of the lumber. This thing was absolutely PERFECTLY calibrated and adjusted straight from the factory. I absolutely hated fiddling with my old miter when I first got it. The laser adjustment knob is very handy. The ability to adjust which side of the blade your laser follows is invaluable if you have to cut a lot of lumber in large volume. The motor runs cool and quiet. The working table is flat. the bevel and angle adjustments are accurate and repeatable. If you work as hard and run through as much hardwood lumber as I do, this is an investment in your future, and in your workflow efficiency. Fantastically well done miter saw.Derekdgsww

This is not a review of blain's farm and fleet, i afm beyond pleased with them. This is about dewalt, a brand i no longer have faith in. This saw came with a defective blade guard, one that doesn't retract when plunging downward for a cut. Upon contacting dewalt, i was told it is defective and they'll send out a new blade guard link. Today in the mail i get an entire upper guard assembly, that requires a ton of work to replace, and is not even ther correct part. I'm a remodeling contractor and don't have time to fix their mistake, if I spend hundreds on a name brand tool, I expect it to work. Do yourself a favor and buy a Milwaukee or Makita. Terrible customer service on dewalt's end, I'll be returning this worthless, heavy saw. I can only trust dewalt with a plastic toolbox or maybe a screwdriver, last power tool i will ever buy from them.Jake091
I bought this to replace my. 19 yr old 10" Bosch compound slider with a bent arbor. I really like the capacity gained with the 12" blade. Set up was straight forward and the shipping packaging protected the product well. I'm getting smooth cuts with the blade it came with. I've cut mitered trim and picture frames and was pleased with the results.Pat
I finally got around to using my new 12 inch DeWalt compound slider. For years I have used a 10 inch Delta compound miter saw but the switch on it has started to become unreliable. I have always wanted a slider for stock larger than 2X6 and to be able to cut through 4×4's without having to turn the beam. I am an accountant by profession but do lots of DIY projects so my perspective is from that angle. I plan on doing a lot of deck work in the coming year. The box it came in was the size of a dorm room refrigerator and the weight was hard to believe. I am fairly strong but found it difficult to move. It must be 3 times heavier than my 10 inch Delta. I've used portable table saws lighter than this thing. I first used it to cut 2×8's,6's and 4's and found the slide action to be quite smooth. The miter adjustment is also very smooth and it is fairly quiet for such a beast of a saw. I have it mounted on a sturdy steel miter saw stand. The blade just slightly nicked the end of the plastic kerf plate. Not sure if the plate was made a little over-sized or what. It does not look like if was installed incorrectly. When I Googled parts for this saw the kerf plates were the first things to come up so I am guessing they get beat up. The dust chute is a joke on this saw. It is a flimsy two piece affair that looks like it would belong on a cheap kids toy. A more substantial one piece design would have been the way to go. I have not used the other accessories, like the side mount handles, that it came with since I have it mounted on the stand.DP

I own 3 construction companies we own over $150,000 worth of Milwaukee tools almost all the tools are top notch! (We love Milwaukee tools) Our use for this tool specifically is used to do trim work and job site framing lumber cutting typically we use this kind of tool 1 – 2 days per week. We own 2 of these saws one less than 1 year old the other less than 2 years old. We have had both saws break and be sent back in for repairs 2 times each…. When the tool is in use it is flawless. (We would continue buying these but the repairs are extremely costly with down time) Milwaukee and our local supplier have been great to deal with. But there must be some quality control things to address considering most of the other tools we have, don't have a high failure rate as this item. (the m18 air compressor also has had issues we own 5 of them they break very often) things that have broken 1-motor goes up in smoke (2 Times) 2-Switch failure (2 times) 3-Switch intermittent failure depending on what angle the saw is tipped at 1=(1 time)Zukauckas Enterprise
Most of the good reviews are of people who have barely used their new saw and some haven’t even used them and give it five stars. I’ve had mine for a little over a year. Spent a fortune on it and for the 12.0 batteries. Now no matter the battery I put in it drains it and won’t run. When it does run for 10 seconds the brakes won’t engage and saw blade keeps spinning. Every tool I own is Milwaukee and I think my loyalty clouded my judgement. My table saw is Milwaukee and have issues with that as well. Now I am going to have to send it out to be repaired and be without my second most used tool for who knows how long. You pay double for the red but the quality has fallen far from what I’m used to with the Milwaukee name. You’ve been warnedJames R
Even with 12ah and HO batteries the power is lacking. It will make one good cut in PT 2x material, but do 3+ cuts in rapid succession and it's starts to cut out and overheat. So not a great framing saw. That said it also isn't precise enough for a trim saw even after adjustment. Even if it was precise the arbor is a bit out of whack, even with a good FF blade the cuts are garbage. Also too big for a punch list saw soooooo….it is a great paperweight. Will hold your blueprints down even in the strongest winds but kind of expensive for that.Elevation

Reviews:
I have big compound mitres with stands, they weigh 80 pounds each. Wanted something small for light finishing work, did not want to spend a lot of money. Picked the 7 1/4” kobalt up on sale for $100. The good: decent deck, straight (not warped), roller bearings on the slide are decent, laser works decently, the handle/trigger combo is straightforward. It sorts up square to the blade easily (loosen 4 hex head bolts, move the rear vertical support square t the blade and cinch down the bolts), the okay…the mitre stops on 90,45,30 degrees etc could be a bit more concise (there seems to be a half degree of play) however – if you are doing finish work you know there is no such thing as a square doorway, window, etc when doing casing so perfect mitres are more a function of the operator and their savviness…so I gave the saw 4 out of 5 because the cord could be 4 feet longer and the blade it comes with could be a 40 tooth carbide tipped instead of a 24 (general construction). This saw would do okay framing a small basement Reno…or light finishing…if you want a forever tool go bigger this saw is what it is…a light duty finishing saw…best of luck with your Reno’s /etc hope this review was helpful.Canada Rob
Bought it, tried it and was very disappointed in it's lack of performance and how easily the cut is sent askew by slight off axis pressure on the handle. Also when you begin to tighten the sliding function lockout set screw, the whole saw cants to the left and makes a very crooked cut. The locking function for the angle allows a degree of inaccuracy in either direction. I've contacted customer service to return the saw and was told that since it was used they can't take it back and to contact the warranty department. How is one to know that the performance of a tool is extremely lacking unless you try it out? I made about a half dozen cuts in 2×4's and trim, nothing was satisfactorily cut. We shall see what the warranty department can offer me and I will update this review to reflect their answer.steyr36
