I was quite looking forward to using this most from all my purchases. However, I was quite disappointed. It is more of a foam not mousse. The hold is not there and my hair is low porosity type 2b hair and i did not find it reducing frizz either. I pair this mousse with the Curl Enhancing Smoothie from the same product line and they work really well together! I section my hair and evenly distribute the Smoothie, then I use this Mousse to focus on my ends. Finally blowdry with a diffuser attachment. When I use both products together my curls clump together nicely and my ends stay frizz-free. I can also use the Mousse on its own for a more natural/less defined curl. I heard other reviews and videos rave about this mousse and had to try it. I have to say, they are right. I have fine texture, low porosity natural hair. My hair is short, but when stretched the back comes to my collar bone and the front comes to the end of my nose (to give you a reference). I get good definition using a gel, but this product really defined my hair, and I had more body. Body is a problem for those of us with fine hair. My curls lasted 4 days, especially in the top which is longer. My hair is shorter on the sides and since I sleep on my side the definition fades sooner. I still had a little definition on my sides day 4, but the top still had curls. The first time I used it I only used a moisturizing deep conditioner and the mousse. It did great defining my curls, but left my hair very dry. The next time I used a moisturizing deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, a moisturizing gel, and a sealing oil with the mousse. Sounds like a lot, but this is the process I have to use every wash day to keep my hair moisturized for 3 days. I did not have any problems with dry hair at all this time. I have thick heavy waves/curls. The product worked well when I used it with a leave in conditioner. The day I was in a rush and didn't put a leave in my hair was course and felt dehydrated. It doesn't help to clump your curls on it's own, but was easy to style and mold my curls with my brush. Dried quickly and smelled good. I didn't get a chance to use it for a long period of time to see the overall quality. The bottle untwisted just enough while under my sink and spilled. Luckily I had it in a container. The bottle easily untwist. You should keep the product right side up and make sure it doesn't knock over. Unfortunately it's the bottle quality that keeps me from buying this again. I would suggest checking The Doux’s channel on YouTube to see how she uses the styler depending on the length of the hair. I have a short natural tapered cut and the mousse works best went I finger twirl the top and front. I love the slip and the shine. Even though the hold is soft – it survives my sweaty workouts. I wanted to like this, but I just don’t. It leaves your hair feeling dirty and crusty the same way a sea salt mousse would. I use mouse in my hair quite often. I like the way gives my hair and curls bounce without stiffness. This one though whether your hair is clean or not, leaves your hair feeling dry, dirty and crusty. It’s supposed to be for dry curly hair. it’s supposed to soften, defined and volumize with a flexible hold. well it doesn’t hold flexibly. actually, after you put it in just makes your hair feel like straw. It smells amazing that much I love. it absolutely smells amazing. But it does not leave your hair feeling soft and it does not define your hair. My first impression is I love the packaging the blue and gold is very pretty. I also like the smell. It’s a really strong coconut scent. So if your not into strong or coconut fragrances I wouldn’t recommend this line of products from Maui Moisture. First I used this mousse first on my daughters tightly coiled hair along with the gel and it worked okay but nothing to rave about it defined the coils and gave a nice shine. The second day however I noticed her hair had so many flakes I had to wash it out. I would say that I will not use this again for her because it has somewhat of a drying effect on naturally coiled hair. When I used it on my hair I didn’t like the way it felt going on. It felt kinda stiff and drying so I didn’t use on my full head. I would not recommend to for thick coiled or tightly curled natural hair.kristina.b

How I use it: After washing and conditioning my hair, and applying a lightweight leave-in conditioner or cream, I use this mousse. With 3b curls that are dry, coarse, long, tangly and graying…I've been struggling lately. I want so badly to keep my hair long and grow it longer than I've ever had the patience to. I purchased this Ouidad VitalCurl mousse today (last one on the shelf!), because I was desperately trying to just get my hair to look good. I got home with my new product and hit the shower right away. After washing/conditioning I put a bit of my previously purchased Ouidad VitalCurl Tress Effects Gel in my palm and added a a nice dollop of this mousse on top and mixed it together until no foam remained and I was left with a wonderfully slippery gel-consistency. I repeated the process once more to make sure I coated everything. I used an Olivia Garden brush to distribute the product and let it dry naturally. It didn't take as long to fully dry as when I use my gel with other hair creams and my hair had a cast that was so perfect it still looked wet when it was fully dry. I was so happy with the results that I feel like I can let this unruly mom keep on growing. At least my ponytail would look good and not a frizzy mess like it usually does. This is THE one product from Ouidad that I feel I can't do without. Granted, I haven't used it by itself but when a curly girl finds her perfect recipe, it's a challenge to stray from it for fear of ruining the outcome. As a side note, I have used the gel mentioned above by itself and I loved the curl formation, however, it's a very foamy gel once I start applying it and it makes a squooshing noise and turns white. This mousse is INCREDIBLE!!! When you first apply it can feel drying and a bit sticky, but once it dries you can scrunch out the crunch and it leaves you with soft, defined, and decently held waves/curls. I found that this is THE BEST product I have ever used for air drying my hair. It comes out soft, not stringy or crunchy like other mousses. It also hold my curl all day. The next day I just use a spray water bottle, wet my hair, and scrunch in a little more mousse, let it air dry, and my results are just as good as day one. Best second day results I have ever had. I’ve used mousse in my hair for years. My mother got this mousse for herself and gave it to me because her hair is more on the wavy side and didn’t really work for her hair so she thought I should give it a try. I was super excited- it smells great, it has cute packaging. However, once I started applying it to my hair I realized it wasn’t going to work for me either. It made my hair feel instantly dry, it matted up my curls and did not define them and made my skin itch. I decided to give it a couple more tries, putting in different amounts of it and more moisturizing products and still, my hair felt dry and clumpy using this product. I'm a fan of the Bumble and Bumble mouse but it is pretty pricy. I have been giving more low-cost options a try lately and decided to buy this on a whim. It 100% smells like lemon cake. I don't mind that, but I was curious what the whole scent debate was about. When you do start to dispense the product, a lot comes out at once. It is a really light mouse, but it is also kind of thick. For having fine, 3B hair, I was worried. I worked it into my hair and combed it through. My hair was really wet as a note. Then I scrunched it with a microfiber towel and let my hair do its thing. It is really soft and bouncy and is holding its shape without being crunchy. So far so good. I bought this to try after using the curl talk cream and gel religiously for a while which I LOVE. I have mostly type 2b/c hair with some 3A pieces and don't usually have a problem with definition/volume, but this pretty much gave me neither just made my hair frizzy and I really don't like the way it feels to the touch. It leaves a pretty strong cast that is difficult to get out even when scrunching with oil and if you live in a super humid place like me, then so much humidity will make your hair crunchy all over again. I ignored the reviews in hopes that maybe it would work for me to simplify my routine, but I wish I had just repurchased my tried and true instead. I honestly prefer just my hair air dried with only a light leave in (pretty loose waves-not like what I get with the cream/gel but doable) to what this gives me. I'm gunna try to power through and finish this but I have a feeling I won't. Listen to the reviews and just save yourself the time and money it's not worth the like 2% chance this will actually work for you. Very sticky mousse! Dispensing this foam and rubbing it between my hands felt like I had just opened a bottle of hair spray and poured it into my hands. I couldn't believe how sticky this stuff was! I used a very small amount, applied to my roots first and the combed the rest through my hair with my fingers. After scrunching my hair, washing my hands and blow drying on the lowest setting with a diffuser I was left with wet-looking, crunchy curls. Trying to reactivate the next day by misting my hair with a little water and letting air dry I was left with really dry, hard hair feeling like I had used lots of hair spray. Couldn't get my fingers through it, no way a comb or brush would make it. So happy to wash this stuff out of my hair. Throwing this in the trash and will look for something else. Probably the worst hair product I have ever used and that's saying a lot!Debby
I have low porosity, medium density wavy/looser curly hair. The bottom part of my hair has tighter ringlets/curls while the hair closer to my crown is a bit looser and tends to be weighed down or fall. I use this after applying leave-in and curl cream on wet hair and scrunch in! If I’m using gel, I don’t usually use this since my hair doesn’t really need both! It smells really good (the entire line does!) and it doesn’t weigh my hair down! It’s really easy to emulsify, you don’t need a lot of product. It helps control my frizz and defines my curls much better and it’s so easy to refresh day 2-3 hair with this product too!maria.m

I heard other reviews and videos rave about this mousse and had to try it. I have to say, they are right. I have fine texture, low porosity natural hair. My hair is short, but when stretched the back comes to my collar bone and the front comes to the end of my nose (to give you a reference). I get good definition using a gel, but this product really defined my hair, and I had more body. Body is a problem for those of us with fine hair. My curls lasted 4 days, especially in the top which is longer. My hair is shorter on the sides and since I sleep on my side the definition fades sooner. I still had a little definition on my sides day 4, but the top still had curls. The first time I used it I only used a moisturizing deep conditioner and the mousse. It did great defining my curls, but left my hair very dry. The next time I used a moisturizing deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, a moisturizing gel, and a sealing oil with the mousse. Sounds like a lot, but this is the process I have to use every wash day to keep my hair moisturized for 3 days. I did not have any problems with dry hair at all this time. This mousse has become part of my weekly regimen.Breezinby
I have thick heavy waves/curls. The product worked well when I used it with a leave in conditioner. The day I was in a rush and didn't put a leave in my hair was course and felt dehydrated. It doesn't help to clump your curls on it's own, but was easy to style and mold my curls with my brush. Dried quickly and smelled good. I didn't get a chance to use it for a long period of time to see the overall quality. The bottle untwisted just enough while under my sink and spilled. Luckily I had it in a container. The bottle easily untwist. You should keep the product right side up and make sure it doesn't knock over. Unfortunately it's the bottle quality that keeps me from buying this again. I was able to try this product after i found it at the dollar store. I don't particularly use mousse very much anymore but I will use it from time to time. I really like got2b products and have had good experiences with them in the past so I ended up using this product daily. The product is supposed to give you extra volume which is something I really want in my style. It also has an average price of 6.99 which is an ok price for a drugstore mousse…. I was able to get it cheaper since i found it at the dollar store. After washing and towel dying my hair i put a handful of the product into my hair and style as desired. I found it didn't give a sticky or filmy feel to my hair and that my style held really well. I also had a pretty decent amount of hold and volume throughout the day. I'm not sure if i would purchase the product as I do not really use mousse, however it might be a good alternative to hairspray.ina.m
Does exactly what I want my mousee to do! Okay, just like the hairspray, the first thing I noticed was the heavenly scent. It really does smell great! To me, the scent was so nice that it almost smelled more like a perfume than a hair product. That matters to me, because, well, lets face it, our hair is right by our nose, and who wants a not-nice scent right there all day? So, before I even tried it, I liked the scent. I used it a few times, and was very happy with it. My hair is fairly long, and naturally wavy, but it's also really, really fine. So that means that it often can feel flat. And the roots especially can feel awful to me, just really super-flat and unattractive. So I really liked this mousse because it helped keep my waves in, and my hair where I wanted it to be, and, on top of all that, it gave it volume (especially at the roots! Yesssss!). The other thing I really liked was that it did all this without making my hair feel sticky, or gunky or anything, or too stiff. My hair still felt nice and soft. Oh, and, also, I really love the colours of the can of mousse….it's a pretty, vibrant, cheer-you-up combination of colours – a nice bright yellow, and a lovely bright magenta. Maybe that sounds like a strange thing to mention, but I am the kind of person who always notices all the details, and I'm also the type of person who likes things to look nice; if I'm going to have a can of mousse out on my bathroom counter, why not have it be something that looks nice, right?

I love that this product helps to hold my natural waves and it is so weightless, you use a lot and it never does with a crunchy feeling. Typically when I let my hair air dry, it does with a very inconsistent wave and very frizzy. I highly recommend and give it 5 stars without a doubt. For best coverage apply with a wide tooth comb or a brush. Once it dries, you can run your fingers through it and it's left feeling soft! If you see any little pieces setting quickly and frosting just wet and out a little more on that piece. On day two, just a little water and maybe a little more mouse, scrunch and it still looks great. Pictures show fully saturated after applying and what it looks like 12hrs later. I’ve tried so many different gels, mousses, creams, oils, to enhance my poor little damaged waves and I always come back to this. My hair started getting wavier in my teens but I just didn’t take care of my hair very much so my little waves were not flourishing as they could’ve. This product definitely helped enhance them while nourishing them to lock in my conditioner. My hair is slowly graduating from very damaged 2a to relatively damaged 2b hair! I love this product. It locks in your conditioner and adds that moisture you need while sealing up your waves. I like to put a little conditioner on my hair while it’s still really wet from the shower, then comb through my hair with a brush (if I use my fingers like I’m supposed to then the top of my hair at the roots gets really wonky so I have to use a wider wet brush to get some of it normal) then I put this stuff in and I scrunch it up and put it in my little hair towel and I’m done! I have fine, low-density 2C-3A curls and generally follow CGM, but I wanted to try a new mousse because it's still not spring and I'm super bored! I wish I'd looked at the ingredients more closely before buying this mousse, though, because it contains propane, which honestly just freaks me out. I still tried it because I spent money on it, but I wasn't super impressed. The mousse is ***VERY*** thick, so I mixed very small amounts with water before scrunching it into my hair. After diffusing and scrunching out the crunch, my curls were actually very well-defined and had good volume, but even though I used VERY little – an amount that was maybe the size of a plum for my entire head of hair (falls between jawline and shoulder) – my roots felt extremely gummy and gross. I know it's the mousse because the only other product I used was the ultra-light leave-in I've been using for years. I can't imagine being able to use much less product, though, just because of how the mousse comes out of the can. So overall, it does define curls, it may leave a gummy residue (my hair may really be just too fine), and it contains scary ingredients. The scent is also pleasant, but very strong and appears to last (I did my hair hours ago and I still smell like coconut). I wouldn't buy this again, but I'll probably save this as a back-up product in case I run out of my holy grails – and stay far away from open flames, yikes.CB

I love using this mousse. It really brings out my curls. It's a good value it's not too expensive I just wish it was a bigger size cause I have really long hair past my shoulders. I purchased this product at Walgreens. I have very thick and frizzy hair that is almost impossible to manage. I was looking for something that would allow me to look nice while wearing my hair down. This mousse works very well in doing that. My curls lasted for a long period of time. I even slept with my hair down and they still looked good. This product did a great job at preventing frizz in my hair as well. My only issue with this product is that it made my hair look darker or slightly wet the entire time it was in my hair. It didn't cause crunchy curls, it just caused my hair to look darker than it is. I am very pleased with this product and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have quick and easy curls.emily.d
My hair is fine and thin. I use a cream hair gel and mousse to tame my curls, so I have quite a bit of product to wash out after 2 days of not washing. That's the longest I can go without shampooing, even though they say longer is best. I typically lose quite a bit of hair when I shampoo for some reason. My typical routine between shampoos is to rinse my hair with water as best as I can then use a regular conditioner to ease out the tangles. I bought this product to give a try, since I heard that co-washing curly hair is better. While using this product I felt like my hair wasn't as clean as I would want it to be and still felt the need to use a regular conditioner. I'm glad I didn't buy the larger bottle. Love this product. I have wave/curls, and this makes my waves hold, prevents them from falling flat and frizzy, and allows my curls to actually form. I typically have to wash my hair every 3 days, and most products I’ve tried tend to build up and make my hair greasy before day 3. This one doesn’t. It’s super light, and I can easily refresh my hair each day by getting all my hair wet and adding in a little more mousse. The other thing I love is that it doesn’t have an overpowering scent. When i rub this product into my hands to apply to my hair it has a very off putting smell. I have used it a few times and it has done nothing for my hair as far as how it looks after i use it and does not make my hair smell nice. I have used Tresemme shampoo and conditioner products for a long time and really like how it makes my hair feel and smell. I wasted my money. I absolutely love this product. Not only does it help with frizz without stickiness but it smells great and leaves hair soft. I’d highly recommend it. The only issue I have is that I used a quarter of a bottle at one time and that wasn’t all my hair. Perhaps a spray would be better and if would have used less of it. Man I love this stuff. I use a curl refresh spray from Sexy Hair (I think, it's a blue can) for day two curls, and this stuff for days three to five. It's a little too heavy for clean hair but perfect for all the other days. There is a learning curve. Too much will make hair crunchy and gross, too little will do nothing. It took two uses to find the right amount for my hair. I have shoulder length wavy/curly hair, medium fine thickness with A LOT of hair. I pump four times in my hands and prayer hand it down a clump of hair as wide as my palms. It takes me four goes to get around my whole head. Then I scrunch lightly and done! It does leave hair feeling a little wet at first but dries quickly and my hair looks better than day one. No frizz at all, very defined curls. Especially for the price, it's better than any other curl reviving foam I've used. I'll never not use this baby.Kass

I honestly…love any type of mousse that can help my hair have more volume. This is one of those. I had gotten this mousse on sale at my local Walgreens with a coupon. So when I did try it out for the first time…I couldn't believe how little of product I used on my hair…and it still turned out fabulous…and side note: I have long hair…and I actually use just a little mousse combined with the hairspray …man..I couldn't believe how the outcome of my hair was…it was awesome!! ❤❤ my wavy curls lasted all day!!! I really love this product and a lot less expensive than Aquage root lift. Shake really well, hold the can upside down and apply directly to parted hair at scalp only. I don't use it as a traditional mousse, but I actually flip my hair upside down while it's still damp and work it in until it's absorbed, then I blow dry my hair like usual. The only reason I bought this is because there was a 3 for 2 deal. I have only used one other mousse before so I thought hey, lets give this a try. I have to say, after trying two different mousses, I'm not sure I'm a fan of them. This one said it doesn't leave scrunch in your hair, and whilst I did use more than a golf ball size on wet hair (I have thick and very long hair), it did leave a crunchy and sticky cast. It was a little difficult to scrunch out this scrunch too. However, I will say that I was surprised by the results. After it airdried completely and slept on it, I still have hold and definition. I didn't have as much as I would with a gel, but I actually liked this change because it did give my hair a more natural look in my opinion. It also didn't fall flat, it lasted like this for about 6 days. However, by the end of this week, my hair has definitely been feeling dry. I used a leave in conditioner underneath this, had a trim prior to using this nee product and used a strengthening conditioner before styling, so I know for a fact that it is this product. My hair doesn't usually feel like that. It did dry out my hair! It also left me with product build up. My scalp is flaking with more dandruff than usual, even though I barely focused the mouuse onto the roots to avoid this very issue. Maybe mouuse just isn't for me, but because of how it made my hair feel by the end of the week and for the other points mentioned, this definitely wont be a part of my weekly hair routine. Maybe this is best for occasional uses. I tend to find that mouuse is suppose to be used on more damp, towel dried hair as opposed to gels, which should be applied to more wet hair when you scrunch it into your hair. I find that my hair isn't dried out or causes product build up at all, I've only had this problem with mouuses. I don't hate this product, but I definitely don't love it either.Jay20
I really like this mousse. It gives me definition and hold without crunch. It works well in wet/damp hair and I even use it to refresh in between days on my hair when it is dry. It works really well for me. Light, not sticky – it's great all round! I usually scrunch out with a bit of the banana oil after my curls are nearly dry. Works a treat!
I'm so impressed with this mousse. I've not used a mouse in many years, not since I was a teenager in the 90's! My memories were of stiff, crunchy hair, but this is so different! It is a lovely mouse, great for adding texture, control and volume to my natural curls, without adding frizz and fluff! It is light and leaves no flakes. After styling, my hair feels nice and has defined curls. I've used it along with the curl jelly and it has given me curls that have been complimented every time. Well holy crap! This is a funky product! You pump some into your hands and scrunch for some easy, sexy volume and texture. The scent is great too. I bought this for $9 USD at Boxycharm PopUp and it is so worth it. My second day hair looks like q magnificent 70s rockstar. I find it doesn't weigh hair down or make it look greasy.
