Ok so to be honest I love Sheamoisture products because they use natural and organic ingredients. Unfortunately this product didn’t quite work for me. It was very drying and makes my face for prone to becoming dry through the day. It also irritated my skin, might be because I have some acne. I just returned this after losing interest in / giving up on it after about 2-3 weeks. First, it smells _divine_ and has some really nice ingredients. The problem is that you have these beautiful active ingredients mixed into a bad/cheap base carrier oil — this is primary sunflower oil, and it _feels_ like sunflower oil on your skin. It’s heavy and sticky and doesn’t quite absorb within any reasonable time frame. It doesn’t layer well with other products. In the beginning I used it twice a day and then I started only using it at night, but eventually I just stopped because I kept having to switch back to my normal routine. Every day I used it, a few of my pores would get visibly clogged within 24 hours and I had some minor breakouts. I typically use an oil as the last step of my nighttime routine and sometimes I will use it to seal in moisture during the daytime if my skin is looking a little dull. I was hoping this might outperform plum oil, but it doesn’t even come close. My skin was overall a bit dryer while using this. It felt like the active ingredients wanted to work but the occlusive sunflower oil made it less effective and made it difficult to wear light makeup on top of it. I would love to see them use a lighter, higher quality carrier oil (plum, argan, marula, etc) as their base and I would happily try it again (truly, it smells divine), but ultimately for their current product there are better oils at this price point that are more versatile and do more for your skin. I love their dream eye cream and the mushroom-based moisturizer, but this was the first big YTTP miss for me.lilyap
I love face oils and I have tried alllll the highly rated ones at Sephora and honestly this is my favorite!! I have oily acne prone skin but this actually calms down any acne and helps heal the marks after they’re gone. It gives such a beautiful glow! If I have an event, I mix it with my moisturizer and apply it about an hour before I apply my makeup and everyone asks me who did my make up because it looks airbrushed (and believe me I’m not even that good at makeup). On regular days I apply at night and my skin is so so soft. It doesn’t feel heavy at all, it absorbs so well. The absolute best!Luluuou
I didn’t like this at first Bc I was using it after serum or after serum AND moisturizer. That didn’t work well for me. But I started using it right after washing my face and I really like the way it looks and feels that way. I break out often in the summer humidity and I think using less products on my face will be better once it gets hot out. This does leave a beautiful glow and sinks into skin better just by itself. If you want to give your skin a break from a lot of products but still hydrate and have a glow, use this after washing your face/toning. It’s beautiful. I started a Sunday Riley cult among my friends, worshipping – Juno, Good Genes, Luna, and etc. Solid brand, solid products, cannot find real substitute. Since that times Juno got a lower price level, so at $72 it is still an everyday regular night routine must, I am trying other brands/products, but ultimately go back to my Juno every single time. This is my second time purchasing Juno Face oil from the Q. It's now my favorite face oil. This oil is very hydrating, and living in the southwest in dry conditions and with winter heat, I need the most hydrating products out there. This delivers and it feels so good on the skin. It's a bit thicker than most face oils I've tried, and it's not greasy at all. I typically apply it at night, and this really sinks into the skin. I can see and feel how soft my skin is the next morning. It's nice to apply during the day too for a boost of moisture. And, if you get the gift with purchase, it's is so worth it. The Fairy Godmother body oil that is the offer right now, is a full size body oil, with a slight shimmer, yet not glittery at all. As far aesthetics; this is an oil. In my opinion facial oils are facial oils and all feel quite similar on the skin. Sure, some might be thinner and seem more lightweight, but in general oils have a similar aesthetic and feel on the skin. I used to be quite generous with oils for their supposed antioxidant properties until I learned that seed oils are considered to be quite concentrated- so you truly do not need a lot of product on the face to reap the benefits. Seriously, you only need 2 maybe 3 drops max for the entire face. Plus, this will have a better aesthetic and feel on the skin. I must admit I am not the biggest fan of Sunday Riley's products in general. I find them to be full of fragrance and very expensive. This product is the definite exception since it is one of, if not the only S.R. product in their lineup. I had my suspicions of "magic skin oils," but this stuff really is magic. I was reccomended this oil by a friend when I had gotten new stretch marks on my breasts from the pill. I also had old white stretch marks on my thighs and butt. I saw results after just one day for my new scars! The marks on my breasts faded within a few days and it softened the look of the ones on my thighs! It by no means fully erases stretch marks, but rather fades them quite a bit. I am very fair skinned, 20 years old, and I have combination skin on my face but dry skin on my body. I have acne prone skin on my face so I wouldn't dare use this for my facial acne scars, but for my body it's amazing for stretch marks!! I love love love this product! I used this oil through 2 pregnancies, alternating with Palmer's Cocoa butter daily and I did not get one stretch mark (gained 22lbs on my first pregnancy and 20lbs on my second) and it also helped to reduce the ones I already had. It has a great smell to it! You don't need to use a lot because it's oil, which becomes a plus as this is a pricey (but totally worth it) product. I had two emergency c-sections so I used for a little while on my scar and noticed a decent difference to the color of my scar. I've seen some people using a few drops on their fingers and add to their hair (dry ends) and see good results with it. I did for a little bit but my hair is naturally oily so I had to stop. Had a c-section on October 11th, bought this product on October 20th and started using it that same day. I apply it 3 times a day and I allow it to soak in for about an hour. In the 6 days I've been using this I can see a huge difference in my incision! All the scabbing and redness has disappeared and now it's just a dark pink color (I can't really explain lol) but I was SUPER surprised with this product and somewhat skeptical. I was so surprised by this oil. I normally stray away from oils because my skin type is oily and I struggle with that throughout the day. But, this product is wonderful! I have to leave an honest review of this product as I feel some people would probably benefit from knowing what I know now, and unfortunately learned the hard way. Upon initial use, I thought it seemed really nice, and I probably would have recommended it. I honestly knew very little about green beauty at the time, nor did I know just how many sensitizing oils this product contains, and how even if things seem like they’re going okay for a while, eventually this product could really harm your skin. After using this product for about a month, with no adverse effects, my skin changed within a matter of days. It started stinging and burning constantly, became tight, dry, irritated, and exceptionally painful. I immediately discontinued the product. I now recognize that some of the oils in this product (specifically fir needle oil, pine needle oil, and jasmine oil) are well documented skin sensitizers, which can cause allergic contact dermatitis over time. I truly hate to say this but it’s been two years, and my skin is still not even close to normal. I have seen dermatologists and tried many gentle, replenishing routines to help fix my skin barrier, but I still experience constant tightness, dryness, and occasional stinging, as my skin is constantly inflamed. Prior to using this product, I had really easy, excellent skin for all of my life, and I have no other skin issues at all, nor have I ever had any issues with any other product I’ve tried. Got to try the Shea Moisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil daily hydration body oil and I works very well. Really enjoyed that you can put it on and the skin absorbs it pretty fast. Didn’t have that all day greasy feeling. I used it after shaving and made my skin feel so good and smooth. I also used it on an area that was healing since it was dry and itchy and it made it more hydrated so it didn’t itch as much. This does contain other oils too, Acacia Senegal, Coconut milk and Shea butter. It has a very nice scent and not overpowering of coconut. At first I was like does it really work? With a lot of oils all you get is oily and Not hydrated soft silky skin or you have let it soak up for hours to get any results. Plus most oils will oil stain your clothes, couch, bed, so how do you apply it and wear it? Yeah I don't know either. Who has time for it? The ingredients are wonderful. My skin and hair love organic jojoba oil. I gave it only 4 stars as the dropper is kind of messy and I would prefer a drop at a time like with bottles of essential oils. This oil has a slight scent. Almost like olive oil. For an oil, it has a thinner consistency which helps it soak into the skin quicker. I've been using this for about a month and haven't noticed any irritation. It does seem to help with my eczema (dry spots), but I also moisturize with a body moisturizer everyday as well. Works great as a body moisturizer, but I would stay away from the face. At least for me, it was a bit heavy for my face and caused some blemishes (which I don't get very often). I bought this about a month ago on a whim upon reading some reviews. I personally love unusual, herbal, earthy smells – it definitely has a green fish-oil scent and I adore it. I was dealing with hyperpigmentation, dehydration, dryness and breakouts due to dry winter air in my apartment. All that changed about my routine initially was the addition of this oil. Within a few days my skin was soft again. Within a week the breakouts subsided. My hyperpigmentation has started to dramatically clear up — I do want to note that I think that has more to do with my moisture barrier than with any brightening properties of the oil. I’ve started mixing this with my favourite rosehip oil, the Pai Skincare Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil (sorry TO, but it’s the best on the market) and my skin hasn’t looked this good in a very long time. I understand that everyone likes different smells and has slightly different sense of smell but to me it does smell a fishy so just be aware that it could smell that way for you as well. I’m wondering if I can add some frankincense or lavender essential oil and make the smell less prominent because I really love the feel and the effects. Just don’t love the smell. This oil is just beautiful. I use it in conjunction with the marine cream, either first on dry skin then the cream on top or on top of the cream once it has sunk in & they work really well together. I use it on top of the cream if I want more of a glow for day time but I believe on dry skin you’ll get the most benefit as your skin really drinks it in. The smell is so nice, think fresh cucumbers. As there is fragrance, if you’re sensitive I suppose there is potential for irritation but I have fairly sensitive skin and none of the Elemis products irritate me at all, I believe because it’s all natural. If you have extra sensitive skin it may be worth doing a patch test on any of their products. A little goes a long way with this oil, it leaves you super glowy! I do use slightly more than the recommended drops though as I like to use it down my neck and onto my chest & 3-4 isn’t quite enough for me I’d say more like 6, 3-4 is plenty for just the face though. It isn’t super oily/greasy, it’s more of a dry oil texture but this doesn’t take away from its hydration at all, I like the fact you can actually feel & see your skin drinking it, it doesn’t sit on top of the skin like a film. So if you’re looking for that sort of thing this may not be for you. It’s more an oil you have to pat in rather than use like a moisturiser in my opinion. I close my eyes and pat it on them too & it doesn’t irritate them at all. This tends to last me ages even when I use it morning and night but you can use it sparingly, maybe just once a day & you’ll still see the benefits for sure! This is great to take out with you as well if you’re out & want a quick boost of moisture or glow, I would say it’s light enough to use over makeup if you’re looking a bit cakey or dry. I use this with a jade roller & notice this really gives it a boost as it helps the skin drink it in so if you’re looking for a night time routine it’s a good add in to wake up looking refreshed & glowy. Great for winter when your skin’s a bit drier. I have acne prone skin and this does not clog up pores at all. In fact, this has helped a lot with keeping my skin clear. I expected this to be gentle because normally when I think superfood I think organic ingredients, fruit oils and antioxidants. I also expected it to be more special than it really is. Honestly its kind of just another clay mask if you ask me. Dont get me wrong I love a good clay mask. I was just looking for something that wouldnt dry me out and would plump and soften my skin. So I wasnt expecting a clay mask when I purchased this. It does work well, as a clay mask. But for the price Ive definitely tried better. After moving to a dessert climate I was desperate to nourish my skin. My skin was completely dehydrated due to the hot outside-climate and the lack of humidity inside my house created by the air conditioning. Being familiar with Elemis I purchased this oil hoping to upgrade the skin on my face and hands. It comes in a glass bottle and has a grassy-earthy smell which I completely love. For me is a direct reminder of the oil's ingredients. However, if you're looking for a subtle scent or one that would faint fast I believe this is not for you. I didn't achieve the results I wanted neither or my face nor in my hands. Nevertheless, I understand that it was not due to a lack of performance of the oil, it was just that I didn't apply it the right way. I over-applied it and as a result the product couldn't get fully absorbed into my skin. I used the whole bottle and it improved my skin: it became a little bit brighter, less inflamed and softer. However, if I would have been patient enough and apply only what's suggested the oil would have penetrated better. I would have avoided the embarrassing "oily face look" and the nourishing effects would have been amplified. I believe that it would have been beneficial (my skin was flaky) to do an exfoliation process prior to adding the Superfood Oil to my regime. My skin would have been cleared of at the outer-dry layer and absorption would have been easier. I'm planning to buy it again and use it sparingly. This was my GO TO product for YEARS! One of the only things I could use on my skin. I got zero pimples, and I stayed perfectly hydrated. The most recent bottle I bought is a slightly different color and had a smell. It NEVER had a smell before. It’s gross, like orange pledge. I was hesitant, but continued to use it. I wanted to try a new face oil since my current one was out of stock. I have severely dry skin and always look for hydrating face products that also contain clean ingredients since I'm also very sensitive and have eczema and lots of allergies to chemical additives in skincare and makeup. The ingredients are beautiful, the packaging is great, the brand itself is awesome and I love a lot of their products so I said what the hell. First off, this face oil smells…kinda gross lol but I think it's because there is no added fragrance so I understand and the smell goes away quickly luckily. The only thing about this product is, weirdly enough, for a face oil its not insanely hydrating as I'd like and it doesn't sink into the skin as much as I'd like either. It doesn't clear up my dry patches like my go to oil does, even with the same other face products I use and love. I think this is better as an under makeup type oil than a skincare step tbh. I think this would be amazing under a matte foundation or something if you have combo leaning dry skin but not for super dry skin like I have. I had been searching Everywhere for a new moisturizer that was an inexpensive light oil or serum; whose got the $ for trials & damaging errors. Moving from a humid climate to a dry climate wreaked havoc. Both climates I sweat like crazy but after moving, gels & lotions started to sit & feel crusty on my face. Icky! They recommend mixing but it is amazing in itself. Hydrating & light with a great glow that really lasts. It repaired the blemishes that I had and keeps new ones at bay. I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to share this because I found another use for this that has results so far above what I expected from a complete experiment. The oils for hair out there are either heavy or have fragrance, which I'm extremely sensitive too. I had a large bottle of this squalane oil for use on my face and body, but decided, what the heck, why not see how it works. I can't believe it. I have long hair that is dyed, and I want to keep it long. Anyone who has been in that position knows the lower half can start to get dried out …. it's hard to hold onto length as you age. But then I tried this, lightly coating my hands and smoothing over the lower portion, from about to my ears down to the ends on wet, just-shampooed hair, and then a light swipe with my hands with the residual oil on the top to help with flyaways. Then I briefly blow dry to seal the hair cuticle. I don't need the comments of people (but it has been nice) to know the nourished, healthy look my hair now has. With no effect on the color at all. I wanted to pass this along. It is so lightweight and fabulous, I use on my face, arms, hands and legs, and now hair! So happy to find this product that feels clean and nourishing. Thank you!Tracy M.
I absolutely love this oil instead of a moisturizer! Always leaves my skin feeling fresh and moisturized. At the first your skin might seem oily but give it like 10 minutes and it absorbs. Best thing to do before putting any makeup on and it just blends so well with my concealer! I can’t say enough! Okay so let me just say this is AMAZING! I purchased this product through Amazon for about $13.00 U.S dollars and I still have my bottle almost full so this product will last you forever unless you spill it lol but besides reading all of the positive reviews I purchased it because I augger from hyperpigmentation left from old acne, I have tried it all! I've tried a chemical peel wich did almost nothing for me, I do the monthly beauty facial and at home stuff let's just say I even burned my own skin with pure lemon because I didn't know what to try anymore so I have this a try and it's only been 3 weeks but I already see some spots lightening up! I'm so happy and it also does not leave the skin oily or greasy! I apply it at night just because I want to give the product a fair shot on it's own. There isn't a bad scent to it, to me it just smells like regular oil not roses lol. It does leave the face a little yellow but it comes off when you wash off the next day. So if your dealing wirh acne or even stretch marks or anything likw that or wrinkles or like me, hyperpigmentation I would not hesitate to give this a try it's a miracle!!vanessa.a
I ordered the rosehip oil after finding many glowingly positive reviews, and it has stood up to the expectations thus far. It's yellowish when I put a tiny bit on my hand to use on my face, but it doesn't make my face seem discoloured, which is nice. It has a quiet, good, natural scent, not overwhelming. Definitely not as strong as a perfume or a roll-on essential oil, but enough of a smell that it makes me happier when I use it. I haven't used it very long, but I have already noted some results. I have combination skin, so my skin is both too oily and too dry, but the oil helps with both problems! My skin is significantly less dry when I use it consistently, and it's less oily as well. At first, it seemed counterintuitive and almost wrong to put oil on my face when I wanted less oil, but as long as you use a small enough amount and rub it in well, there are no negative effects that I've seen so far. I usually put the palm of my hand tight over the top of the bottle and turn it upside down, then rightside up immediately after, and that is the perfect amount for my face. I apply it and make sure it's all rubbed in, and then I'm done! I'd recommend washing your face with a wet washcloth beforehand, just to make sure you're not trapping gunk, and then applying whatever face stuff you use that usually dries out your skin (I use teatree oil to calm my acne, and it works miracles), waiting for that to dry a bit, and then using the rosehip oil. I don't recommend purchasing anything form Cliganic as the information they provide is questionable. Before ordering this product I contacted Cliganic to make sure I was getting the rosa canina species of rose hip seed oil. Having read several research papers on the effects of oils from different rose species, I knew well that the rosa canina variety from eastern Europe was by far the best for skin care. I further carefully viewed the labelling on the product as posted on both Cliganic's website and iHerb's website before placing my order. Everything indicated that the rosehip oil was extracted from the rosa canina plant. I placed my order and when I received it, the labelling noted that the oil is of the rosa moschata plant. This is perfect oil to be used under makeup, light enough and absorbs fast. I re-purchased, since I love using this oil under KW facial makeup (both liquid and cream). I had been looking for a product that would hydrate and brighten my skin throughout the night and this oil does exactly that. For me, the oil takes too much time to seep into your skin, which is why I prefer to only use it during my nighttime skin care routine. However, when I wake up, the my face is still glowing and I love how soft my skin has become. I definitely recommend this product, although I can't use it in the daytime unless I am planning on not wearing makeup for the day. Love love love this oil! I have combination oily skin and cringed at the idea of putting oil of my face… not with this. It’s not a heavy oil when applied but it’s almost ‘thick’ enough that is doesn’t run everywhere when put in your hands. It mixes really well with other creams if you want to add drops or if you want to apply directly to the face. I have never had trouble with this pilling which is a big pet peeve of mine. Has a sublet smell that’s really nice. Everything about this is gentle. I have used this when my skin has a sensitive flare and it does not aggravate it. Lasts a long time. This product was gifted to me from Farmacy Beauty. I love their honey range! So far I am loving this facial oil. The packaging is of course lovely and it has a nice scent. I love to use this oil as the last step in my nighttime routine to lock in all the moisture and goodness from other products in the routine. It’s also amazing for the “slugging” technique. This oil leaves my skin wonderfully hydrated without being overly greasy or causing breakouts like a lot of other oils tend to do. I'm absolutely in love with how my skin feels! I recently purchased these three items to test the quality and I'm already obsessed. Not only are the containers cute with MAGANTIC wooden tops for the small spatula to stay on, the quality is 5 stars as you can literally smell the honey in the face oil. The hydrating mask that you massage onto your face and leave to sit for 10-15 minutes is incredible! I could really feel my face warm up and soak in the nutrients.
