20 Best Pastel Purple Hair Dye (Jan 2023 Update)

I have being dying my hair bright, vibrant red for just over five years now, and Arctic Fox has been part of my color maintenance routine since day one. Vibrant red hair is not easy to maintain and keep from fading quickly, which can very quickly do serious damage to your hair if your only using ammonia-based chemical dyes every time you need to refresh your color. Arctic Fox doesn't damage hair at all. In fact, it helps undue the damage caused by permanent dyes because it doesn't have any harsh chemicals that strip hair. Arctic Fox is actually GOOD for your hair and works just like a conditioner, not like a hair dye. I add Arctic Fox to my regular conditioner (sulfate free of course) so that every time I wash my hair I'm also keeping my red looking vibrant and even healthier every time. I always wash my hair using the coolest water I can tolerate and after I shampoo I apply my premixed bottle of 3/4 sulfate free conditioner, 1/4 Arctic Fox Wrath + a dollop of Violet Dream and let it sit on my hair secured on top of my with a claw clip while I finish the rest of my shower routine, just like I would do with a nourishing hair mask. Once my routine is done, I rinse out my hair thuroughly in cool water and towel dry it only so I get the most out of conditioning my hair, and viola! My looks, feels softer and healthier than before I washed it, plus my red still looks like it did the day I first day I dyed it. It's a win win. Not only does Artic Fox keep my red looking great, but it leaves my hair healthier every time also. Plus the custom colors you can create by mixing different different Arctic Fox colors together are endless! I was amazed at the color i got by mixing Purple AF + a touch of Aquamarine! It sounds crazy to mix aquamarine and deep purple together, but the color came out a multidimensional dark blue/purple-ish color that changes color depending on how the light hits it. It's my new favorite color! It does come out very dark, so I apply it (no conditioner added) to the bottom 1/3 of my hair and lightly pull the color upwards into my red to get a perfect blended fade from bright red to deep blue/purple. I have virgin dirty blonde hair. I bought the shade Transylvania which is a pure black color. I applied it last night to my clean hair, no products or nothing in it and let it sit in foil for about 40 minutes. I didn't apply the dye to my whole head, I just wanted to add pieces here and there throughout my hair like I've done in the past. Upon rinsing my hair out with cold water and letting it dry I noticed how faded the black looks. In the shower the water ran blue. I know black dyes typically contain blue but this was like a vibrant blueish green. In artificial lighting the dye in my hair looks like a dark grey, but in the natural sunlight it looks like a greyish green which isn't very pretty at the moment. I'm going to give it one more go before I decide whether or not to return this. I usually LOVE arctic fox dyes and have never had issues before but this black dye really needs to be reformulated.Jen

I’m trying to grow out my highlights & “embrace the grey” but have a bit of fun with temporary colour while I do so. I bought this product after a lot of internet research. Did my patch test, this is a “natural” product, no ammonia, parabens etc so was hopeful. All ok & did a couple of strand tests too. Ready to go! PLEASE make sure you wear gloves, mask around your face, ears & neck with a barrier cream, rinse hair out over a sink or bath. DON’T shower it off over your body! You will look like a Smurf! I wanted to temporarily colour my hair for the start of the football (soccer) season. I left the blue on for about 2 and a half hours & the purple & pink for about an hour and a half. I wrapped my head in cling film in case it dripped, it’s a nice thick gel, so I don’t think it would but better safe that sorry. It smells fruity so no stinky head while you wait. I loved the result! My hair felt soft & moisturised, still does. I knew the blue wouldn’t last as long, red tones grip better, so after 2 weeks & 13 double shampoo washes, the blue has almost gone but the pink & purple is going strong. I still get purple hands while showering but no skin transfer so all good. I forgot to take a before so the first photo is after the strand test but you can kind of see my highlighted, grey & mousey “before” hair. Second & third photos are a day after colouring. Fourth & fifth is to show how the pink & purple have washed out & the blue is almost gone after a lot of washes. If you want a longer lasting semi permanent colour, I would highly recommend this product! Love this product!! Used for over 10 yrs now. Use Vaseline around ears and edges of face to keep stains off skin. Nail polish remover will do the rest. I have black hair and it will only show on porous strands such as bleached or blonde – otherwise it has no where to go and will stain things as it comes off. What I love is that it DOES stain which means as it fades out you still have color stained hair until it fades to a more pastel color. Keeps from having to do all the time. I use gloves to apply liberally. Smells delicious! I then wrap in a cap (plastic bag will work, too) and let it stay on as long as I can- note that this method almost blends into my black hair until a first couple washes. Also note that I would lay a towel over my pillow until the first couple washes. Also, note that I use a special towel for drying bc color will come off the wet hair. Also note that I don't wear white or swim until after the first couple of washes. It's a stronger look than a salon color and lasts a VERY long time. So, if you want a fun color for the weekend, choose something else as it really is semi-permanent and doesn't just wash away from bleached or blonde hair. Hope this helps!CrazyHair Bae

I’ve been using Punky Colors since they were originally called ‘Jerome Russell Punky Colours’. I am a professional hairstylist and I love these non-pro colors for solid colors. Cherry on Top is the perfect bright warm red. It’s bright, it’s true to shade, and there isn’t a hint of cold undertone. That’s why I prefer to use Cherry On Top paired up with the diluting clear to create my pastel pinks in warmer colors than the actual Pink Flamingo or Pastel line. It lasts longer and looks like bubblegum. Yes, this color bleeds. A lot. It is a high concentrate of pigment which helps it last longer on bleached hair and coat non-bleached hair. My suggestion to a lot of you is to get a black towel and black pillowcase so you won’t ruin anything! Always wear gloves. And just rinse it the best you can before adding any shampoo. Shampoo is what makes the color spread all over the tub and stain it. Even if you do stain the tub, most porcelain tubs it will wear off. Porous plastic tubs you can get the foaming bleach cleaning spray from any store, spray it and let it set a while, it’ll lessen the red stains. Good luck!Cotton candy Cherry

I just had this put in my hair about 2 weeks ago. Realize that since this is a pastel colour, it's not going to last nearly as long as any of their other lines. Your hair must be lightened to at least a level 10, you MUST use sulfate free/colour safe shampoo & conditioner, and you absolutely must wash your hair no more than twice a week in cold water only. I'm going to try to deposit some colour into my shampoo and conditioner to help abit and see if i won't have to re-dye my hair every 2 weeks, but it's likely i will. I've only washed my hair 3xs in the past 2 weeks, all with the proper aftercare and i barely have any peach left on level 11 hair. I only use professional hair care products as well. That aside, it is a REALLY beautiful colour. It is a perfect peach and is very true to swatch. I hope that in time; since the pastels are one of the newer pravana lines, they will come out with better technology and get the pigments to last longer. Even if i have to re-dye every 2 weeks though, i'll still be keeping the peach for awhile. If you choose to go pastel peach, keep in mind it's not going to last and is going to require a lot more upkeep. It is worth it though, as it's a very fun shade to be if you're willing to put in the extra work to maintain it.Brie

So I'm going to start by saying that this hair dye is my go-to vivid dyes, they are amazing, all except for the pink. DON'T BUY THE PINK. Seriously, I have no idea why they are all amazing and that one color is such a dud but whatever. I've been doing vivids for over six years now and I have always used Pravana. I was absolutely bummed when they discontinued the Locked-In line because when you are doing multiple colors they can bleed together and the Locked-In prevented that and it was amazing. I really wish Pravana would bring it back because I know I'm not the only one who appreciated it. Unfortunately I did try the crystal colors and they were absolutely horrible, they left spots that were completely untouched and I had to completely redo my entire head. The regular vivids are amazeballs though and I will continue to use them.kathleen .h

I've been dyeing my hair probably longer than you've been alive. Hehe. That said, I've tried literally everything, and I can tell you that I always go back to Pravana for bright, semi-permanent color. It lasts a loooong time, can stain almost everything, but again, it lasts a long time and the colors are true to the tube. Keep the color wheel handy because it all depends on how you mix the color with your existing hair color and if it's pre-lightened, which is recommended. I'm usually in the blue ranges when it comes to hair color but will occasionally get out of my comfort zone and do a green or a purple like this one. To get around some of the staining, I make a custom color conditioner with 2/3rds conditioner to 1/3 of Pravana. I like to use a lighter, color safe conditioner and I use it every third shampoo. This will help the color last even longer even between the time I need to re-bleach my roots. I've got an esthetician license and I get mine that way, but I've seen it on Amazon. Read all the reviews though and use the Fakespot browser extension to check review legitimacy. I've read that they might be selling fake product, so buyer beware.lisa.b

This pink is NOT pastel any sense of the word! If this is pastel then I’m madonna ( I’m not). I had bleached out my my hair till level 10 was super excited To use this as I’ve had my hair every color of the rainbow and pastel pink is one of my favorites. I Checked my hair in about 10 minutes since it was so Highly pigmented. The dye did appear dark out of the bottle but that happens often and it doesn’t mean it’s the final color so I wasn’t really concerned. When I checked my hair 10 minutes in it was bright pink and when I say bright I’m talking about neon signs a blazing bright! Now I have nothing against neon pink hair it just doesn’t look right with my skin tone and it’s not the color I was going for. I honestly would not recommend this to anyone if they are looking for a pastel pink or even a light pink… a true pink …:magenta pink. The only time I would tell someone to go ahead and use this is if they want neon pink bright neon pink it does not wash out of your hair anytime soon. It does say 5 to 30 washes but let’s put it this way I ended up having to bleach my hair out again to get it out . So all in all I would never use it again I give it to storage because I mean the quality of the dye was very good for a direct dye color was vibrant he lasted quite a long time but it wasn’t the color it had Represented itself to befabianna.t

All the people complaining in the comments either are too impatient or have no skill at all. I suck at dying my hair but it took little effort to dye my whole hair. Not to mention I am latina! I have the thickest hair you have ever seen ! This thing is ammmazimg. I have tried other brands and they never washed off and ended up leaving the color on my hair for months. This is affordable and works if you want something temporary or like to change colors all the time without damaging it. This brand has never dried my hair out btw. The best thing about this is a little goes a long way & it is highly pigmanted. When I had hair up to my lower wings it was able to cover all of it. You just have to be patient! I like to keep my hair a pretty shade of light purple/lilac. While I was shopping at Walmart, I saw a few bottles of . on sale. My hair had been looking pretty blah lately, so I decided to try it out. I liked the fact that it was a "PASTEL" shade of purple, cruelty free vegan, and also was super strong and took as little as 10 minutes to fully develop. I brushed it onto the bottom half of my hair, which had been previously bleached numerous times in the past. I left it on for just over 2 hours, which I normally do with semi-permanent dyes like this (dyes like Manic Panic I leave on for even longer and blow dry for best results!). When I saw the color of the dye itself, I was SO excited! It was SUCH a beautiful shade of purple! Not dark, or harsh in any way, but it reminded me of cupcakes or sprinkles. What I got was a whole other story! My hair turned out SO dark! I only left the dye on so long to deposit the color, I never thought it would turn such a deep, dark, totally random color. I'm so disappointed in it, but everyone else thinks that it's the right color and I get a lot of compliments. I've washed it once so far and while it has lightened drastically, it hasn't lightened to a pastel anything, it's just a faded version of the super dark purple. I can't complain about it too much though, because it was a random purchase, and I only paid $3 a bottle and it only took 2 bottles. When using this you have to be super careful, because it stains everything around you quickly and permanently! It stains things much worse than other dyes like it that I have used. I also don't think they should necessarily call it a "pastel" purple, because straight out of the tube it is a much more brighter, more vivid purple than a pastel, and the color it made my hair is nowhere near a pastel. I would probably only recommend this dye to people who don't expect their dye to last a long time or change their hair color a lot, or it could be maybe good for someone dying their children's hair because it seems like it washes out pretty easily. Super easy to use, you have got to try this! Use on pre-lightened hair for processing. This formula does not mix with developer which makes it even more convenient to use! Literally, just apply to the hair (generously) and let it process. Make sure sections are fully saturated with product. Let process 25-45 min and voila! I got this color after a good talk with a rep @ Salon Centric, I wanted a cute color but not too distracting bc of work. She picked this purple for me but I never committed till recently! I got a more blunt mullet and I figured I deff need a color to match the edge and this was insanely pigmented 😻 so glad this was the color she recommended bc it wasn’t muted but also not a neon green scary color. I was scared it would be more dark but did it anyway and it wasn’t at all it was a super saturated purple …a blueish purple for sure. I went to the beach and it of course took most of the color out BUT it faded nicely and I had about 4 shampoos of decent color after that beach trip! So it deff has lasting power I left it in my hair for an hour – as it faded it became more of a lilac pastel purple 🥰🥰vanessa.z

Smells amazing and is easy to apply. Unfortunately that's where the good in my review ends. I bought the Magic Salem and pastel Iris colors and honestly? I wasn't impressed. They don't last (pastel Iris has only lasted one wash, Magic Salem – which was quoted to last 3 weeks – only lasted 3.) Not to mention, Magic Salem is their purple, but it came out blue rather than purple. And to make matters worse, the dyes faded super poorly? It looked awful.

I love Lunar Tides. The salon I go to for my highlights use this product. I also purchase this as a consumer for at home use in between salon visits. The dyes are super vibrant. A big plus is that Lunar Tides are vegan and cruelty free. I like mixing colors to make different shades. These are semi-permanent so they will wash out. I recommend washing your hair with cold water and use Watercolor Shampoo for whatever color your hair is. I bought 4 dyes from Lunar Tides: Juniper Green, Aurora Green, Pastel Iris, and their toner. the toner worked great, I loved it! however the dyes are absolutely terrible. I read so many reviews before buying from them and the only “bad” thing I could find was that it was runny and messy. the hair dye I received is almost a gel consistency, not runny at all. my hair was platinum blonde before I dyed it with juniper green. it is very dark in the container, but bright green on the hair; this was my first red flag. I kept hoping it would be darker when I washed it out but obviously it was lighter. my hair was joker green. I figured this was my fault for toning my hair and thought maybe that could be the issue. however, I also dyed part of my hair with the Pastel Iris. in the container, it looks like a darker purple (the shade you think of when I say purple) so I assumed it would be darker than I expected; it was not. it went on the hair very light, looked very similar to the toner. after I rinsed it out (with cold water as you should) the color was BARELY there. it looked like I left toner on for a little too long. again, I figured this was my fault for ordering a pastel dye. HOWEVER, I just washed my hair for the first time since dying it (it has been exactly ONE week) and the color is completely gone. the part that was dyed purple has absolutely no color in it. this was after ONE WASH. there is absolutely no reason for my hair to be blonde right now. I had to purchase a completely different dye to cover up the horrid snot green and now I have to re-dye the part that is purple EVERY TIME I want to wash my hair??? an absolute waste of money and time. should not be sold as semi-permanentzoe hintze

I always wanted to go purple but I never had the nerve. I am so happy my first time was with this product. My hair is so soft from the moisturizing aspect of the dye itself and the pastel purple color is beautiful! It comes in a 2.53 oz tube. The only thing I found was with long hair even with combing it through it was a stretch towards the end to cover it well so next time I think I will have two tubes ready. My hair is not real thick but I think that if you have thick hair you might find it would be good to have an extra ready just in case. I also thought to mention it doesn't smell bad either so sitting there with it on isn't torture. On the test strand I left it on my hair for 30 minutes and the color was not quite what I wanted so when I did the full head I bagged it and left it on for an hour. Because it is moisturizing it does not hurt your hair to leave it on longer from what I found. My hair is dark blonde and gray so I didn't need to bleach first to get the nice pastel color but maybe with darker hair you would probably need to do that in my opinion. My roots are lighter because that's where it is more gray so it is a darker purple but that's okay because I love the way it fades down to the pastel from there. I suppose if you do have lighter roots you might want to apply there last possibly. I love it though so for me it's perfect! Since I only wash my hair every two days usually because it gets dry I am not worried about it washing out too quickly and when it does I plan on doing this again and again. I think next time I will get two colors and do the ends a different color. That was my husband's idea as he did it for me to help me get the best coverage and he thought that would look great too! Brite cruelty free vegan hair color was very easy to use & came out great!!! Instructions were easy to read& follow. Simply use as any other hair coloring kit. This product is designed to be Non damaging to your hair. You can strand test prior to coloring your hair. Once the strand test is done, you simply apply to hair ( if your just using this one kit) then wait 10+ minutes until desired color. Once you reached desired color simply rinse with cool water and style normally. As this product is semi permanent it fades with each shampoo. I did color partially my head of hair ( I have dark brown& light brown) so I colored my light brown portion of my hair & after about 25 minutes I had the desired color. Once washed and dried I had a beautiful pink color. After washing my hair more than 6-7 times I still have a pink color. I absolutely love Brite hair coloring kits because they're easy to use and fun to change the color often without damaging my hair.Mcava23

I have always colored and streaked my own hair and figured I would try something new and edgy so I ordered the Brite Cruelty Free Vegan Hair Colour in Rose. Very easy directions since you don't have to mix anything – you just have to wash your hair with no conditioner and check the color every ten minutes. Since it was only a short commitment from 5-30 washes I figured how wrong could it go – I'd do a few streaks and see what happened. I did do the Brite Cruelty-Free Vegan Hair Colour in Silver first, sparingly streaking it which did not show up as I thought it would. So I used more of the Rose throughout my hair but unfortunately, it got into some of the silver areas. Very tricky to do and I am not a professional. The end result did pick up the highlights in my hair but with a slight pinkish tone with brighter pieces. It looks different and yes edgier – doesn't exactly look like the box but I'm happy with the outcome. Since I wash my hair every day it should be gone in a couple of weeks so for now, I'll enjoy the youthful color tones to my hair, and next time I might just do one color at a time!NB

As someone who dyes their hair quite frequently, Manic Panic is always my go-to dye brand. So far, I have used Ultra Violet, Vampire Red (the color shown here), and Hot Hot pink. As a semi-permanent dye, it washes out quicker than permanent dyes typically do, but re-applying it when needed is super easy. Purple and pink for instance, tends to wash out quicker than red in my experience. After a week or two of washing hair daily, the purple and pink are almost completely gone. Vampire Red has seemed to last longer, however, and even after several weeks my hair is still tinted a slight pinkish-orange color unlike the other colors which leave no evidence of ever being dyed after a few weeks. To make the color last longer, I like to wash my hair and then put a shower cap on for the rest of the duration so that the water doesn't hit it the entire time, which seems to do wonders for keeping it vibrant for a little while longer. All of Manic Panics colors are super vibrant and I love that they do not have ammonia or some of the other damaging chemicals that most other dyes have. I would definitely recommend this brand for anyone who is interested in trying out a funky new do.BulldogLover

I use to love manic panic hair dye and have dyed my hair so many times with their products. However this product dyes everything it touches and I've spent many hours removing everything it has stained in the bathroom. It has unfortunately stained my entire shower as well as my skin. It's been over a week since I've dyed my hair and the dye is still bleeding on everything. I am now researching how to remove hair dye and booking myself in to the salon to remove the colour. Unfortunately due to this terrible experience I am reluctant to buy Manic Panic again. I'm aware that Manic Panic tends to bleed more than other dyes but from using their products for almost a year, I've never experienced anything like this.Charlie_09

This was the very first time I tried manic panic of any kind, and as far as the company and product itself goes, I'm definitely going to get more! Unfortunately, however, I wish they'd properly advertise how the colors will show up on brown hair. This color shows up completely green (dark green) on my hair (which is normally identical to the dark hair on the chart). Despite what I expected, the green was more than fine by me, so I added some more to my hair. If this were the only problem, I would have left 4 stars. The nice, dark, almost metallic green color left behind only lasted about 3 days afterwards. 3 days and two washes later it was virtually all gone. I know they advise bleaching to get the best color, but if they know it won't work well on darker hair, then maybe they should stop advertising it for darker hair, or at least add honest photos of how it'll actually look rather than just photoshopping a blue layer over brown hair. If I got a different color better suited for my natural hair color, there's no doubt in my mind I would leave a 5 star review for that. The product itself was very easy, left my hair soft and undamaged, and surprisingly didn't stain as badly as I expected. So bottom line, yes, I would recommend, but ONLY if your hair is light. I used this for the first time this week. I really like the shade. The trick to getting a good application is to make sure you shampoo your hair before application so it’s damp and why residue/build up is gone, which can make the color not adhere to your hair. Remember, semi-permanent coats the surface of your hair, not the cuticle, so you want it as clean as possible. Using it on dry hair will give you a tint, but probably not the bright effect you were hoping for. Liked it so much, I got a few more shades of red and brown to try out.shannon.g

this stuff is AMAZING!! So I have been on the grey silver hair trend (well trying to get there at least) lol and the stuff is a lifesaver! I couldn't get the darn brass out of my hair and it was driving me crazy! tried almost everything! My last option was toning but after all the bleaching I didn't want to use chemicals… this saved my life and turned my pale yellow to a beautiful silver after one wash with a little bit in my shampoo! then I shadow tried with it full strength! no brass slightly profile like I wanted (only in the sun and thats because I left it on as little longer to achieve the purple silver look). I also used it on my son because w bleached his mohawk twice but was still orange like really orange! one freaking wash with a purple shampoo I made with this (a little stronger than the one I made for my hair since his was so orange) and we got a beautiful silver!! I'm 1 wash!! no more expensive purple shampoo for me baby! I got one bottle and have made 3 batches of purple shampoo, shadow ripped my hair fill strength 4 times and still have over half a bottle left! My go to and will always keep it stocked in my house!! totally recommend if having title getting brass out or arrived orange after bleaching and don't want to bleach again!jessica.e

This bottle will last you a good while if you mix with water. It will still do the job and look bright and shiny. I used this to colour the blonde as my regrowth came through and trust me it looks better then having half blonde half black hair. Mixed this with the sapphire and got a beautiful blue. I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. The box came with everything I needed for color application as well as after care. Instructions were easy enough to follow. There was enough color to fully saturate my hair. I started with light brown hair and it got it to a dark vibrant black. Washed as instructed and used after care products and my hair did not feel damaged. I have washed it probably close to 10 time and there is minimal fade. Definitely recommend if you are wanting to box dye your hair.wynona.l

Box Dye is usually a hit or miss for me, but this dye honestly is one of the better ones I’ve tried. The dye itself did not smell bad and the steps were simple enough for anyone.to understand. It didn’t stain which is a huge bonus. It didn’t completely color my hair evenly, but that’s more due to my hair already being different shades/colors. The color turned out more vibant than I expected. A week later, the color has faded a little but that’s usually what happens to me with hair dyes. However, The color still looks pretty (especially in the sun). I will consider this brand in the future when dyeing my hair. Do I recommend? Yes. Some box dyes hate my hair but if this works well on my hair, there’s a good chance it will work well on yours too. I’ve dyed my hair at least a dozen times, but it’s been a while. I used Féria’s Coral Pink in March without issue, so I thought blue hair sounded fun and picked up Féria’s M10 Cosmic Azure. I’m not going to knock off any stars for the dye being more dark blueberry on my hair, rather than the more purple blue on the box, because I had previous dye on my hair. But I will dock it all the points for the terrible formula. It came with a scent ampoule, but that didn’t help. The dye made my eyes water profusely and my husband even commented on it. The dye dripped everywhere in my shower. I was able to clean the tile with bleach and CLR Mold and Mildew, but some of the grout is still blue. While it was incredibly drippy, it didn’t penetrate hair well at all. I used almost the entire bottle of dye, rubbing it into my hair for 10-15 minutes, then waited another 10-15 while I cleaned blue hair dye out of the shower, and I still have areas where my hair is still brown/coral pink. I would repeatedly work the dye into my hair and could see it wasn’t penetrating like you’d expect the dye formula to do. I do NOT recommend this dye and am now thinking about a nice, boring dark brown next, maybe not from Féria’s line.dia.s

I’ve been using this brand’s dye starting from their R48 to V38 (this dye) and it’s been maybe a year or so? When I used the R48 color it was more red and that was the first time trying out a maroonish-plum color and I immediately became addicted. It lasted a good few months and would’ve lasted probably more if I didn’t get impatient and dye it again lmao my hair dye addiction got out of hand. I’ll say the more often you dye your hair a red-purple color the faster it’ll wash out. I know nothing is permanent but for me this washed out a bit faster than I imagined for a permanent hair dye. That’s okay tho because I dye my hair rather often and it’s fun. When I dye my hair with this dye it fades into an auburn, reddish orange color and my natural hair is dark brown. You may have to retouch up your roots once every month and a half or so because that’s the fastest thing to wash out. When dying your hair with this it smells super strong like chemicals and can make your nose and even your eyes burn if the fumes get too close to your face? And it takes a while to wash out but the shampoo smells super good that it comes with and the color always comes out nice and vibrant. 🙂 I’ll be buying it again probably since it’s sold in all stores near me but if I used another brand like arctic fox or something I’m sure I could get similar results.wee

So I purchased the iroiro neon blue and first I did a bleach kit as I mention darker natural hair as I wanted to get the full effects of the neon. So bleached first then onto the color. I applied the color and left it on for 45 minutes so that i would get the bright vibrant blue i wanted. 45 minutes later i wash dye out under cold water as warm will fade it, didnt want that. However I have been dying hair for 20+years so I'm experienced and know what I'm doing. I am almost a week out and I literally look like I used one of the 1q 0 washes dye because I havent washed it yet but it looks as if I've pretty much combed it right out. This is by far the worst hairdye I have ever used. I've used numerous brands and numerous different colors and I will never purchase this brand again. I would not recommend it as it does not do what it stands behind. Worst product ever.lyndi.t

Ive used multiple Iroiro colors by now (Plum, Pink, Yellow, and one of the blue colors) and I love them. The smell is FANTASTIC, my hair feels great, and the price is worth it. The pouches are so convenient and much easier than having to shake the last bits of dye in a squeeze bottle (aka Arctic Fox). Also the colors, especially pink, last a good while and fade nicely. I just used a mix of plum, pink and yellow on dyed brown hair for a nice color tiny and it looks beautiful in the sun. Definitely recommend. Also cruelty free and thats always important!rebekah.a

This product worked wonderfully. I used L’Oreal colorista for brunettes to make a conditioner to put on my hair first. This is a true burgundy plum on medium brunettes. It came out so red I was impressed. Not that messy imo. My only regret is that this color looks better when I’m pale in winter. Can’t wait to tone it with a true violet. So far Amika violet toning drops are helping make it a bit less extreme. Great color payoff, environmentally friendly packaging, minimal damage. I did not put conditioner underneath to open my cuticle for scalp oil. Great technique for oily scalps. Love. Bought this from Sally’s it was affordable. Easy to stretch too.sheri .h

So I'm going to start by saying that this hair dye is my go-to vivid dyes, they are amazing, all except for the pink. DON'T BUY THE PINK. Seriously, I have no idea why they are all amazing and that one color is such a dud but whatever. I've been doing vivids for over six years now and I have always used Pravana. I was absolutely bummed when they discontinued the Locked-In line because when you are doing multiple colors they can bleed together and the Locked-In prevented that and it was amazing. I really wish Pravana would bring it back because I know I'm not the only one who appreciated it. Unfortunately I did try the crystal colors and they were absolutely horrible, they left spots that were completely untouched and I had to completely redo my entire head. Application was great, smelled lovely, but that's where the positives end. Left very little pigment in my hair, despite using two tubes on blonde hair and ensuring full saturation. I have very slight purple hues in my hair, but the colour pay-off is dismal. Not worth the money at all. The purple is also much lighter than on the box and looks faded immediately. I've been dyeing my hair probably longer than you've been alive. Hehe. That said, I've tried literally everything, and I can tell you that I always go back to Pravana for bright, semi-permanent color. It lasts a loooong time, can stain almost everything, but again, it lasts a long time and the colors are true to the tube. Keep the color wheel handy because it all depends on how you mix the color with your existing hair color and if it's pre-lightened, which is recommended. I'm usually in the blue ranges when it comes to hair color but will occasionally get out of my comfort zone and do a green or a purple like this one. To get around some of the staining, I make a custom color conditioner with 2/3rds conditioner to 1/3 of Pravana. I like to use a lighter, color safe conditioner and I use it every third shampoo. This will help the color last even longer even between the time I need to re-bleach my roots. I've got an esthetician license and I get mine that way, but I've seen it on Amazon. Read all the reviews though and use the Fakespot browser extension to check review legitimacy. I've read that they might be selling fake product, so buyer beware.lisa.b

I bought this color for my son. We both regularly dye our hair with Manic Panic. For some reason Pillarbox red has been an absolute nightmare. It is constantly bleeding on EVERYTHING. His hoodie, bedding, pillows, shirts, my bed, seat on his bus, my car seat, my stainless steel sink, etc are all red. I would give 1 star of I didn't know and love manic panic. I have been using it for 30 years! I washed his hair 5x 2 days in a row for a total of 10 times and it is still happening. I am losing my mind. All his clothes are getting ruined. I don't want to rate quality because I don't want to bring the rating down if there is just an issue with this batch. I just wanted to share my experience.Angel5787

I purchased silver stiletto. I already have blonde hair but bleached it awhile back. Grew my roots out and recently rebleached those and then cleansed my hair with shampoo and no conditioner. After fully drying I used the whole bottle on my hair and it was thoroughly saturated, even rubbed it in to make sure. Covered it as instructed for thirty minutes and NOTHING! Two big light blue blotches near the ends of my hair and nothing else. Vast Majority of my hair didn't take the color. At minimum usually my hair will pick up color and keep it going for a few washes. This product is Not even worth a dollar. Don't buy this.Coralcrumbs

I bought one bottle each of Rockabilly Blue and Vampire Red. I was going for a dark reddish purple. Mixed about 3/4 red and 1/4 blue. Applied, let sit for an hour. Despite the fact that I used only 1/4 of the blue in my mix it was what stained my hands (through the gloves!), sink (where I washed the mixing bowl) and my whole shower…I was shocked but honestly I don't care much about it being stained so I shrugged and on we go. Just a bit unfortunate that my whole shower floor is blue and my porcelain sink is as well. The color however turned out beautiful. I dyed over my natural dark brown hair and it made it slightly darker but a lovely rich purple/red. Exactly what I wanted. It does bleed really badly and will stain any white/light towels, sheets, hair bands/etc you might have. Now here's where something weird comes in…since I dyed it a week ago, every day I get my hair wet in the shower it smells AWFUL. Like, I immediately thought it smelled like a Porta-John. I even asked my husband the last few days to smell my wet hair and confirm that's what is smelling so bad and yes, it's my hair! It's so strange. I tried googling to see if anyone else has had the same problem but couldn't find anything so maybe it's just me? I'm giving it three stars because my hair looks and feels great, but I'll probably never use it again due to the excessive staining/bleeding and the weird smell.Alex

This is the FIRST (and really ONLY)hair color that I've used that isn't entirely gone and faded in a couple weeks. The irony is that when it's time to move onto a different color or I want to change it up, I have no issues getting it out! I personally prefer the shade cotton candy (and it looks intimidating in the bottle as if it would be too bright, but it's not). Okay so I usually don't do anything to my head unless it's getting done at my favorite salon girl but with quarantine I decided to take a leap of faith my god this product did not disappoint at all! It was super adorable pretty sure I paid under $7 for this tiny bottle. Yes the bottle may look tiny but it did not disappoint! It was soo pigmented better than the maniac crap that washes out almost immediately! This has had such a beautiful vibrant pink color for over a month with multiple washes! I had burgundy hair and I tried a specific brand of blue dye that turned my hair into a rainbow Couple weeks after I bought and adore red semi permanent dye and decided to try it in my rainbow hair. I was a bit pessimistic because the first one was a failure and I wasn’t bleaching it or anything just apply red dye Let me sayyyy!!! The result blew my mind… all my hair was bright red and beautiful. It was just even with color vibrant and everybody liked it. It didn’t stain my hair line because I used Vaseline but the results really shook mekelia.s

I am not a hair stylist but I am certainly a hair enthusiast. I have been getting my hair dyed crazy funky colours since the age of 14. I have used boxed products as a teen and since my 20's I have only had my hair professionally dyed. I have to say that Goldwell Elumen has been my all time favourite so far. I had a very vibrant purple put in my hair which stands out amazing against black. I have light blonde hair with black and the vibrant purple underneath with a edgy textured angle bob. Absolutely love the purple. I had the colour put in in May and the colour is still there. It has grown out and I actually had it redone due to that fact but the colour holds up. For month i used the elumen shampoo and leave in spray conditioner which helped with the longevity. No complaints here!Melanie W.

I love the Elumen products by Goldwell. As a professional hairstylist of 34 years this is a superb color line. I have 50% gray and I usually will tint my gray first with 6.0 permanent gray coverage tint then weave my dark hair with a few highlights then deposit Elumen VV thru out the entire head of hair. (Drying the hair before elumen application.) The color is amazing and my college age daughters have the same purple hair color.Rosie P.

this is a fabulous product. IT is more of a color rinse so there are no roots after a few weeks you need to touch up. it slowly fades. i repeat every 4 weeks as i have some gray hair and live in FL. leaves your hair feeling soft and shines.denise

I used this color line when I was in cosmetology school. It was so unpredictable and unreliable. The color formulas never looked right on half of the clients. I couldn't trust that it would give me the proper results. Ending in a possible color correction or redo/try to fix. It made me very uncomfortable to do colors on clients when it was so unpredictable and unreliable. I havent used it again since I left school!!!! I never ever would use it again, not even if it was the last haircolor brand/line on earth! The other thing is that this stuff dosent last, like at all! Especially over greys. will say that I don't know if I saw any healing benefits, but I've also upgraded my hair routine a lot recently so that could be why! But on to the color part… it's absolutely amazing. I bought 2 containers because of the BOGO sale, but also because I have hair that goes below my waist so I assumed I'd need that much due to experiences with other brands. Alas, I was wrong. I barely used 1/4 of one of the containers to do my whole head! To be fair, I have brown hair with a bleached streak that was a patchy purple because the last dye I used washed out in some parts but not others (plus a past split dye that caused one half of the ends of my hair to be a light brown while the other is darker), so perhaps that could be why. I applied a pretty good amount to my whole head but especially my bleached area and so a little goes on a long way! It added a red tinge to my dark brown (mahogany vibes), turned the light brown to a pretty dark red, and the bleached streak is a bright red that looks beautiful. You can't even tell that it had purple in it before. I've gotten many compliments and people can't believe it's something I did at home!Macey

Dude, this is the BEST semi permanent hair color I have ever used. In 2018, I suddenly became allergic to regular dyes (PPD and some other unknown ingredients), and was unable to use traditional dye methods. When I say allergy, I mean SEVERE reaction… swollen head, eyes, lymph nodes in my neck. Needed emergency care for the reaction. Luckily for me, I don't have an allergy to bleach (probably because there's no pigment) and was relying on the only coloring agent I didn't have an allergy to, OverTone (I tried Arctic Fox, Manic Panic, and even Henna to no avail). I saw Brad came out with his own color and wanted to give it a try. I am happy to say that I have had ZERO allergic reaction to it and the color deposits so much more beautifully than my previously used products. Minimal bleeding when rinsing as well! Super happy. I love you guys. Thank you! PS don't mind my roots. I'm giving my natural growth a break lol.Madison

I wanted to love this hair dye so much, but sadly it just didn't work for me. Based on the reviews of others, I'm guessing it has something to do with my hair..?? Anyway, here are the problems I had: 1. Despite Brad's claims, one pot was not enough for my whole head. I don't have crazy hair. It's curly, barely below my shoulders, normal thickness normal density. I got 3/4 of my head dyed before it ran out. 2. Something about the product made my hair feel almost gummy… even when dry.. weeks later. It threw off my curl pattern and my hair was not greasy but something was off. I could tell it was the product because the top 1/4 didn't get dyed so I had a good comparison haha. My hair has gone back to normal now but I had a month of bad hair days which sucked. 3. Since I ran out of product, I ordered a second pot the day I dyed my hair. By the time the second pot arrived a few days later, (never shampooed, only rinsed with water) the majority of my pink had rinsed out. 4. While parts washed out so fast, I'm left a month later with the weirdest splotches of pink throughout my hair. Like two spots above my ears… so odd. If you've used color like this before and you know it works, I bet this product is great! I wouldn't recommend it if you are new to dying your own hair or if you have natural curls.Abbey
