For 3 years I have been using this product I always pick it up when it's near empty, I love it so much smells so great and it's shiny yet not greasy I usually apply it to my hair when it is wet but even when it is dry the product sets in when I sleep the next day I wake up and it's shiny and perfect! I have straight thick hair and it works for me I also believe it has helped me In hair growth and making my black hair look AMAZINGLY shiny. I love it so much that I pick up the shampoo and conditioner of sleek and shine and that has also been 5 stars! I've tried a lot of high end brands and I will always stick with Garnier to keep me looking and smellin like a fresh apple! I use this on my hair when it’s damp/wet to help keep it smooth. I have a LOT of very long, very straight hair of medium thickness. I use two pumps and apply from my ears down and work it through my hair. I air dry my hair but when I occasionally blow dry it, this works just as well. I don’t apply it to my roots. It smells amazing, high praise coming from me as I’m sensitive to scents! It’s fruity and a bit sweet, but not overpowering once my hair dries. My husband also uses it on his crazy thick, curly hair and it helps tame some of his frizz, but not all (I don’t think anything can tame his hair!). I bought this cuz I saw all the good reviews about it. I’ve had several different serums at home but when I tried this for the first time, I’m in love. Not only is it lightweight, but the scent smells awesome too! The quality is good, it made my hair soft and tangle-free. Hair is so much smoother, silkier and no frizz at all. Doesn’t make my hair oily too. I attached a pic of my hair after using this serum however, I would like to point out that in order to achieve what I’ve shown in the pic, you can’t just rely on one product. I did use garnier anti-humidity leave-in conditioner on damp hair before using my heat protectant to blow dry. Right after that I applied this serum and then DAvines OI Oil as a finishing (another great product). The serum itself is good, I only used it from mid lengths to ends. The packaging size tho, it’s quite small. BUT! Only 2 small pumps is enough for my hair (I’m southeast asian and my hair length is below my chest, it’s medium thick) so a little goes a long way! If you have thicker hair, you need to section your hair to a few parts, I only sectioned to 2 because it’s not that thick. My friend let me try hers when we were getting ready to go out. I immediately noticed how good it smelled. Clean but very distinguished and fun. The packaging and name is also great. As far as the useage it definitely made my hair thicker at the roots (and smell good) it was super lightweight while still maintaining hold and it didn’t feel very sticky at all which is important to my sensory issues. I've got medium-length colored thin hair. I spray it on towel-dried hair and then blow-dry in section, and it does what it promised – "Great for volume at the roots, control at the ends and an overall smooth look". At the first time when I used it I didn't like the sticky feeling, but I got used to it and just go on with drying and then I have my volume at roots, which I wanted! Check out their "badlands paste" for the volume as well, by the way The manufacturer says, this spray works good with roller sets, hot rollers and curling irons – I don't use it daily, so can't tell. The fragrance is not childish, some might say it smells like men's perfume, it might be because of Blonde Woods in hte heart of composition. I received this as a free trial in an order from Beautylish. I have light blonde, very fine hair. Even though I do have fine hair, I have a lot of it. I consistently use volumizing shampoo and root lifters/products that add extra body to hair. This particular product worked for my hair very well, though nothing about it stood out. My hair never looked flat when I used it, but it was the average amount of body I get with any other product I've used. This thickening spray was also easy to use, and had a pleasant smell. I looked into the price of this product, and for what it costs I however would not recommend it because you can find cheaper products that do the same thing. I had been looking for a new hair shine spray. I have medium/dark brown hair with blonde highlights, and my hair is very dry and damaged from using heat and dying/bleaching in the past. I’ve had my hair colored in just about every color you could think of so my hair is very damaged. It’s getting way better now but a few months ago it was completely unmanageable. I like using shine sprays because they make your hair so much healthier and glossy looking. My current shine spray is Garnier Brilliantine Shine Glossing Spray. It was only 7 dollars, has great ingredients, and gives amazing shine without looking or feeling greasy. I had been thinking about getting this matrix shine spray for awhile. Ulta was having a huge sale on matrix products so I used that opportunity to pick this up. It was only 10 dollars so I got it half off. I usually LOVE matrix products, and even though they’re pricey they tend to be worth it especially when you have more problematic hair. This was a disappointment. First of all the smell is terrible. Usually their products smell great but this literally smells like those lemon hand wipes you get in little single packets. It’s not unbearable but definitely not a good smell especially for a hair product. Nobody wants their hair to smell like lemon scented cleaning supplies. Good thing the smell doesn’t last because it’s not a good one for a hair product. Now, I could put that behind me if the product worked well but it didn’t. It literally didn’t add any shine or gloss to the hair. It didn’t feel heavy or greasy or sticky on the hair, but it was basically like it did nothing. I hesitated to buy given the mixed reviews but have had great results. Worked much like a good mousse but easier to apply and less residue. My hair type is thick (as in a lot of hair) but fine (as in the texture is straight and silky) so it pretty much lays against my head. I have an oily scalp with wavy waist length thick hair (many thin/low porosity strands). Color treated blonde. Problems: fluffy/poofy hair, greasy roots, dry ends, seborrheic dermatitis (on back of scalp) 1. Product longevity: I only used the allotted card sample packet of 10 mL shampoo & 10 mL conditioner, which I was prepared to not be enough for my long hair. It was perfect! It went a long way, which was a pleasant surprise right off the bat. 2. Scent: the fragrance is pleasant, light but it hangs in there, even into the next day. The scent is unisex. It just smells very *clean,* like a fresh aquatic citrus. Although it’s subtle, it is noticeable enough to get a “ooh your hair smells good” when someone goes in for the hug. 3. Effectiveness: this cleaned my hair so well, without making it feel overly dried or stripped. I have a hard time getting a good product that works with my dermatitis, and actually calmed the flare up I was having. Day 2 after wash, my head was so much less itchy than it was all week. My hair stayed clean and free of grease throughout all of day 1 and 2. Paired with the conditioner, my hair was smooth, shiny, soft (but not overly fluffy/full of poofy flyaways). It felt hydrated and my ends looked good. I’ve been faithful to olaplex for the past 2 years, but think I may have a new fave. I noticed that with olaplex, my hair began getting greasy SO quickly. I was getting greasy same day as wash. I still love it (that LATHER and scent tho!), but I think it’s too rich and moisture-focused for regular use given my oily scalp. My seborrheic dermatitis was getting worse and having intense flare ups. Anyway, everyone’s hair is different, and can change in different seasons, so I really don’t think there’s a “one size fits all” hair product that will be best for everyone at all times. For reference: I have LONG hair with a naturally wavy/curly texture, and with that comes frizz. A lot of it – even though I'm very aware of how to tame it (naturally kept or with a blow-out). My hair behaves weirdly, i'll just put it that way – it's difficult to achieve perfectly smooth styles. HOWEVER… I've been using OUAI products (I started with the THICK SHAMP+THICK COND.) for a little bit over a year now & all I can say is…I will NEVER go back to anything else, ever, unless I find something AS extraordinary as this brand. It's like magic in a bottle, to me at least. I have never experienced better hair (at home, done by me) in my entire life. It's insanely smooth & silky. I have such minimal frizz now. I normally need to blow dry AND straighten my hair, but I am beyond satisfied with just the blow-dried results. The only cons, I would say, is that because there's such rich and moisturizing ingredients (love to see it!) your hair can become a tad oily after the third day, even second sometimes. You just need to figure out what the right amount of product is for you so that you don't over do it. The second con, though it's nothing too crazy, would be that sometimes I end up needing more product in the shower, as it doesn't lather suuuuper well – but again, this depends on hair length and the amount that you know you need. I guess I just wish it foamed a bit more, is all. BUT these are such small things that can be resolved & aren't much of a big deal. For the oily con as mentioned above, this is why I switched to the MEDIUM line & I feel like it has helped. The THICK line may have heavier ingredients. I have tried SO many different shampoos and conditioners. A lot from drugstore and high end. And lately I've noticed I've been shedding more than usual. I have been using pureology a lot. I've used strength cure, hydrate and the nano works good line. But for some reason the pureology strength cure especially really irritated my scalp and makes me lose soooo much hair. So I got the ouai thick hair shampoo and conditioner and the first time I used it my shedding was only like 10 hair strands! I've washed my hair 4 times with it now and my hair scalp feels so clean but the shampoo makes washing my hair so easy and doesn't tangle my hair. And the conditioner is chefs kiss. I barely have to use any and my hair is so conditioned after the shampoo/conditioner. My hair is so soft, shiny, clean and my natural waves/curls look really pronounced since using the set. Also they smell AMAZING I want a perfume in the shampoo scent! I got the leave in, oil, and curl cream and they all work together beautifully and don't make my hair feel producty which I like because pureolgy always leaves my hair feeling kinda gross when I use their leave ins. Anyway I totally recommend this set and if you're getting greasy hair from this set try the medium or fine hair set. This just probably isn't for your hair type. Did I notice any benefits when using this? Yes, it greatly helped with both oiliness and build-up on my scalp for the first week or so, until the alcohol content started to dry my scalp out and irritate it. I also found it helped give a 'lift' effect to my roots when applied sparingly, though that can become a hardened sticky mess if you apply too much (as I did on one occasion). As for hair loss, I didn't notice any reduction in the amount of hair falling out, nor any increase. Yes it may have eventually made a difference, had I continued to use it, but the irritation saw to it that I'll never know for sure! I did start with twice daily application, as instructed, but cut down to just once every night, in the hope that it would be easier on my scalp. Unfortunately it wasn't the case. I used this alongside the PM 'Anti-thinning' shampoo, which likewise had some really great benefits, but made my hair greasy and horribly flat. When my oily, fine and light colored hair started falling out like a handful every wash (alarming amount) I tried many products that would not stop my hair loss or work for a bit, then stop working. One of the hairdressers recommended the Tea Tree Anti-thinning line (white bottle). I am using the shampoo, conditioner and the tonic for over a year now. I only apply a little bit of the tonic to the wet roots. I never tried it on dried hair. I imagine it would be greasy looking. My hair stopped falling out, looks fuller and healthier. The products have botanical smell due to the natural ingredients. Recommend blow drying for managed and smoother look. Other useful tips I implemented to stop my hair loss: healthy diet, elevated water intake, more sleep, less stress, lowered the water temperature for hair wash, lowered the temperature and the intensity of the hairdryer, only use hair turban for hair drying (towels are harsh for the hair), use wide teeth comb and natural brush.Yea Tree Fan

I hardly ever use a product until I empty the bottle. Sometimes I get bored with a product, sometimes I don’t really feel like the product does much, so I will put it on the shelf and forget about it. This was not the case with the thickening treatment! I used it daily and loved what it did to my hair. On top of the long term affects of the treatment, I also loved how it calmed down my root area (which can be a little frizzy) and made my hair feel manageable, shiny, and healthy. This scent is very light and subtle. It did not smell too perfume-y or like chemicals either… The thing I loved the most about this product is it did not make my hair feel dirty or like I had a bunch of product in my hair. I lost half my hair from iron deficiency and had to cut the rest very short to match up to new hair growth but was still very thin overall. The first time i used this on my damp hair after my normal styling products,my hair looked instantly twice as thick. Even my mom said my hair looked suddenly thicker without me even pointing it out. I will never buy these products ever again. I used the thickening treatment, growth drops, and root spray one time. It completely changed the texture of my hair, made it rough and hard and when I combed my hair it came out it clumps. I lost about 3-4 inches of hair because of these products. I had shoulder length hair and now my hair is to my ears. It ended up being choppy and uneven, and I had to cut the damaged hair off. I am completely devastated and just cried seeing how these products ruined my hair. I wouldn't recommend these products to no one. I have to go through a hot summer wearing wigs now. Ive been using Aveda volumizing tonic since i was 18yrs old. I'm 44 now. This product is great for thin and/or fine hair, for which I've always had both, and especially now at 44, i have actual thinning to go along with my lifelong natural hair issues. I just hold my damp clean hair up at the roots, spritz at my crown area, and at the roots however I'm parting my hair that day, blow dry, finishing with a round brush, pulling up at roots as I dry. The results leave volume where my hair would normally lay flat and limp, and it lasts for most of the day, with no build up of funny feeling spots as some other volumizing tonics can do. I tried it loved it and found out at the time it was not available in the UK. So I came back with every product Aveda produced at the time for my type of hair. I have used this particular hair spray for years and years. But now Tresemme decided to change the formula. It doesn't hold my hair, but simply makes it hard and stiff and it's almost impossible to get a comb or brush through it without ripping out a lot of my very fine and thin hair. It is also extremely difficult to shampoo this hair spray out of my hair. I don't shampoo my hair every day because it is so dry, so I end up with a day or two of hair spray built up in my hair, which doesn't totally wash out. The build-up is awful. I'm so very sorry that Tresemme made this formula change. Please, Tresemme, bring back the old formula, otherwise, I do not recommend that anyone buy this product. We bought this product for my cousins wedding. My wife did her hair and it looked amazing. It held up all night. I tried to help my wife brush out the tangles when we got home. From 11:20pm to 1:15am I brushed which made it better than worse, scrubbed tried to remove the product, used shampoo, and even dawn dish soap. Nothing was getting it out and all brushing did was make it worse. The product made her hair crunchy which is why we were trying to get it out. We are now at a salon as they attempt to get this out of her hair without having to cut any off… 0/10 would not recommend this product. Will be reaching out to customer support Monday. I was using a pricey kerastace hairspray for years that was discontinued. Desperate for a replacement, I bought a number of brands. This was the clear winner.. I love this. I have fine hair. I bought this stuff on sale a year or so ago. I blow dry my hair every time I wash it which is about every 4 to 6 days. It's thick and curly and unruly with breakage and split ends. So I blow dry and flat iron it then I have to flat iron it every day in between because the curls and frizz come back pretty quickly. So since i go as long as possible between washes since I'm mending the damage I caused my hair as a teen and young adult and trying to grow my hair out things can get a bit greasy and flat towards the last day or two before I've finally had enough. It never looks greasy because my hair is extremely dry and thick and the super oily never gets past the roots but it definitely flattens my hair and weighs it down at this point. And since I'm used to having a lot of volume except for those couple days it drives me crazy. So I thought I could use a volumizing product so I didn't have to damage my hair by teasing it and so it would last until the end of my wash. Well it was easy enough to put in my hair and on my roots. It took a bit of product to get it an inch or so down every bit of my roots so I felt like it was kind of wasteful since a little did not go a long way. I blow dried my hair like normal and flipped it upside down and just brought my roots straight up with a ceramic large round brush to help cement the volume and get it as high as possible. It actually weighed my hair down though and it got oily much quicker when I used this product. It literally didn't do a thing for my hair at all. Now maybe this would work for someone with really fine hair who wasn't using other products in conjunction. I don't know. But what I am sure of is that out of the few different times i used this with different tips and techniques that are supposed to give you the best results it never once worked for me. And because of that I can't recommend. The good things about it are all technical but it is part of the product so I counted it and rated it with these included. The packaging matches with the big, sexy hair motif of red and black with white lettering. It's very stylish and almost gives off a sexy vibe. The dispenser is like a lotion pump where you just push down and out comes the product and you continue that until you have your desired amount. It doesn't let too much or too little out so getting the right amount is simple and precise. It's a light weight gel type consistency. Not too heavy or too light. It's clear so it's great for all hair colors and types. It smells great. Very pretty, fresh and feminine. Also it has a great amount of product in it for the price so it will last a while. I was excited to try this as I have fine, silky hair that often looks flat, so if I'm going to use a product, I want it to provide some grit/texture and volume. I think it product provides *some* texture but not nearly as much as I would like and I don't really get any volume. It kind of just dries like hairspray in my hair- making it clump together a little. I've tried using just a small amount (which does nothing) and I've tried using a lot (which I felt kind of just weighs my hair down). I've let my hair air dry with it and I've blown it dry with the product in it, and I just don't see any volume or lift at the root. Bummer. I also wanted to comment on the scent. It smells like plastic pineapples. Not bad but I don't love it and I've used other B&B products that smell better. I usually use a mouse that I get from my hair salon to create texture and grit in my hair, and I think I'll keep using that product over this one. This spray definitely thickens hair, but you have to act quickly and begin your blowout right after applying it; it's not volumizing in and of itself, so if you want a bit of lift instead of just denser hair strands the blowout is essential. I did find that it coated my hair and weighed it down a little if I didn't use volumizing spray at my roots, and my hair is medium thickness and straight, but I can see this being difficult to work with if you have curly or thicker strands. I didn't try it with any smoothing products, but I wonder if that might counteract the volumizing properties if you're trying to control frizz while enhancing thickness. I recommend using it sparingly, because it can take on a greasy texture if you use too much. The smell dissipates, but the initial scent is reminiscent of black licorice and slightly chemical.tidewaterbeauty

This is brilliant but I don't use it too often…it's laden with alcohol which isn't good for hair in the long run. Previously I tried the B&B Thickening Shampoo which made my hair limp, so I wasn't too sure what to expect with the spray. I needn't have worried! I spray this on my hair whilst damp and then blow dry it, and I find my hair is bouncier and has more volume, absolutely no crunch or stickiness. I was looking for something to tame my somewhat frizzy, thin-ish slightly longer than shoulder length hair. I'm extremely happy with it. I spritzed it onto my towel dried hair & finished blowdrying. My hair is thicker, straighter and much less frizzy. It looks fantastic. That's it. No flat iron needed. Once applied, there is minimal scent, as well. My dry, naturally curly hair loves this product. I use only a pea-size dollop on my very thick hair. It immediately makes my hair look salon finished. It stays in place and can easily be renewed if necessary. My tube has lasted 3 years and I am here on this site to order new. If you use too much, it will get too heavy. $20 for 3 years – certainly is not too much money! I have at least 4 friends and 2 strangers who are using it because they love how my hair looked with it.Terri

I think this product is great depending on your hair. First of it smells great with no wierd hair product smell! It doesn't make your hair hard when it dries but keeps it styled but bendable to where it bounces back to where you styled it if you touch it. If you have thick hair that doesn't like to style it wont last long at all but if you have thinner hair it will work great. This is at least if you use only the dime sized amount directions say to use, if you use more thick hair shouldwork well also! Comes in convenient easy open container and doesn't leave hands sticky after use. This is definitely a great product!rpz1234

I've been using Fiber Spikes for 15 days now and I think I've found a new routine. I already use a heavy wax product and at first game this one a try instead. It's a very different type of hold! I have medium length hair and it was actually too natural looking for my taste. I'm really going for a professional clean cut look and it was hard to get with this stuff alone. I made an adjustment though, I use a heavy wax product first and then use Fiber Spikes to finish. It solves s problem that I've had forever! My hair tends to stick up in the back sometimes and be a real mess when it gets windy. It looks really natural under normal circumstances but if it gets messed up then I have to fix it with water. This Fructis product keeps my hair looking natural even after it gets wind blown. It doesn't make a hard shell that never moves but it has a much more natural look when it isn't perfect. Way better!! Looking effortless is hard so looking imperfect when it should be imperfect without being terrible is super important. Just using the heavy wax alone ends up causing it to stick up straight when it is windy and that's not acceptable. Problem solved with Fructis Style Fiber Spikes! Last comment though: I can't imagine how much of this paste you would have to use to really get spikes that held in the wind, maybe with really short hair it would work but outside of that, I would use it for a more relaxed style.BryceO

I would highly recommend the R&Co Rodeo Star Thickening Foam. I regularly get keratin treatments to control my frizzy hair and sometimes this causes my hair to be super flat, lacking volume. My hair is also really thin which makes it hard to look full. The thickening foam is amazing. It instantly adds a lift to my hair. I use it before I blow dry my hair and it dries with perfect volume. It also makes my hair much easier to style when it has a bit of volume. This product is great for all hair types and every time i use this product in my hair people notice and compliment. I love using the R&Co thickening foam because it makes my hair look styled during the week days without a ton of effort. It never feels sticky, and the smell is great. All of the R&Co products are amazing but this is a must have. The ingredients are natural (vitamin E, kiwi, aloe vera) and I really trust this brand. I love this mousse! It does exactly what it says it will, it adds volume and texture to my fine, thin hair. It definitely gives my hair a sense of fullness and really helps my hair hold up longer when styling. So extremely happy I stumbled upon this hairspray!!! After my original brand was discontinued I tried around 9 different brands all promising strong hold and/or volume but NONE of them worked..I was soooo frustrated. I tried high end hairsprays and drugstore brands nothing else worked… I am someone who likes to style my hair once and have it last and hold for the whole day regardless of the weather(wind, rain, humidity). I have medium to long fine colored hair that I like to add volume by teasing on the crown and style my bangs to whisp out of my face and stay put, this product provides EVERYTHING I was looking for! I struggled with definition and really had to look for a product that defined my curls. I was buying pricey product thinking that it would define my curls but eventually I found out I could save money!! I love mixing this gel with leave in conditioner as another reviewer mentioned. I rake though shea moisture’s curl smoothie and follow up with this product. I end up diffusing my hair after. Do not sleep on this product!! It is affordable and helps bring the definition I wanted. I tried it out with super long hair and also with a long bob reset chop and both had consistent results. I achieved really great definition with a hard hold, I still had frizz but I also know this is most likely user error since I’m always improving my routines. I clarify every wash so I’m not one to comment on build up. I really wanted to love it, but I found out mid tub that I prefer shrinkage while I train my curl type. Like many wash and go naturalistas who rock the teeny weeny fro, I have gone through a lot of products trying to find that ONE which does what I need. I have finally found Aunt Jackies and I'm thrilled. It is the holy grail! I have moisturized curls that pop, no dryness or flakiness, and the curls last for DAYS with minimal fuss. For daily maintenance, I just fill a spray bottle with water, jojoba oil and Aunt Jackies leave-in and spritz that mixture to refresh my curls. I have very flat hair, I usually spray dry shampoo to give it volume. This works!! I sprayed it in after shower and let hair dry naturally. And it’s got volume on top, so much so my bf noticed. I have type 4A/4B natural hair and I've been natural for almost 5 years now, so you can trust me when I say that I've tried just about every gel there is for African American hair!! 'Eco Styler' and 'La Belle Lots of Curls' gels usually give me nice TIGHT curls, but nothing like this gel. Aunt Jackie's Flaxseed gel gives me nice LOOSE curls. I've included some pictures, even though my camera does NOT do it justice. I've found that this gel does not work so great on wet hair for a wash 'n go style, but it does work good on wet hair for twist outs. This gives me some of the best curl definition ever! It works best for me on dry hair after a twist out or braid out. I add a little oil moisturizer first, then I apply the gel. You don't need much at all, which is a good thing. I scrunch it in my hair and I get luxurious loose, bouncy spiral curls! They're really gorgeous in person. Please don't expect for your hair NOT to shrink at all with this. My hair does still shrink a little, but nothing like before (without this product). So, it doesn't totally stop it, but it prevents it by up to maybe 85 – 90% on MY hair. I've only been using this for about a week and have already received compliments on my hair. My husband says it makes my hair look fuller. It definitely does "it" for me and gets the job done. Y’all this product is amazing for those nice tight curls or coils. My daughter and I both have curly ethnic hair but she has tight curls. When I tell you her curls are bangin it is no joke! This makes your curls not shrink, exactly what it states. Our curls stay flawless all day with bounce and all. It doesn’t leave a film on your hands, it doesn’t make your hair greasy or oily either. And I’ve tried most of the top brands (Virtue, Bumble and Bumble, Ouai, Kerastase, etc). I also rely heavily on reviews before making purchases. I saw this product, saw it had glowing reviews—over 200 5 star ones and purchased. This has got to be one of the most lack-luster products I’ve ever used. Produced no visible results and actually WEIGHED my hair down. It made my hair tacky and hard to comb through like a hairspray would. It’s a shame that Sephora allows so many “incentivized” reviews on their site because it’s very misleading to non-social media influencers who do not get boxes of free product in exchange for positive reviews. Holy Moly!!! This stuff is SOOOO amazing. I have super thin, thin hair. I've been using the Thickening Therapy shampoo and conditioner to help strengthen my hair after having a baby and it's helped, but the spray is hands down the best!!!! I apply it to dry hair, comb through and my hair is so much thicker looking and feeling. This has easily become an everyday staple for my hair routine. LOVE LOVE LOVE!cindelrose

I have fine hair, and would love for it to look a little thicker. Tried this product for a couple of weeks but it left my hair limp and flat (had the opposite effect). Contacted customer service who were very responsive and helpful. Tried their suggestions but unfortunately this product didn't work for me. Reply from Customer service was bad luck. I love BB HG products so i'll keep using that. Just wanted others to know my experience, disappointed with this one for my fine hairChrissy
