I have medium length hair, I’m a guy, and after growing my hair out for the first time in 30+ years, I’ve searched for 3.5 years now and have tried so many different products. I don’t know my hair type, but it’s salt and peppered, about 75% gray. For those that have gray hair, it’s a different animal than the thick hair I had years ago. When I use this stuff, I put 3 pumps in, work it through and my hair is noticeably different immediately. I noticed it stays wet far longer than without, so I end up lightly blow drying for about 1-2 min. I then put a firm holding cream in my hair and the volume I get by adding this stuff, blow drying a few min, is amazing. I always read these things about this product or that product creating volume, and I’ve tried literally dozens. None added noticeable volume except this one. I am so in love with this product, I’d pay twice the price and it’d be worth it for what I get out of it.
I went into Sally's and asked the young lady could she recommend a detangling conditioner for my thick dry brillo pad feeling hair. She handed me this Tangle Slayer and said if I didn't like it bring it back. 4 hours later here I am writing a review. This stuff melted the tangles right out! I could not believe it! I can't tell you how many thick Wet combs I have broken trying to comb through my hair and to use this conditioner and the comb glides right through. I'm looking for more products from this line. I'm a believer and I'm totally impressed!

I really like the coconut scent, it lathers really well and I was very pleased that a little goes a long way as I have very long and thick hair. I wash my hair every 3rd day, but I wet my hair and condition it every day. I have been using the Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Coconut & Hibiscus Conditioner the 2nd day. I always use leave in conditioner but that day I had to use double the amount of what I normally use. Otherwise my hair felt & looked dry & frizzy. The product definitely did help with detangling my hair, not totally, but to a great enough degree where I was pleased. I didn’t notice any improvement in shine though. I was hoping to experience much more of an overall difference from all the various products I have used in the past. No huge noticeable difference, and more expensive than what I currently use. So I really enjoyed using the product on both my baby girl and my own hair. Because we have very very different hair types, I noticed some important things. She has a healthy head of very fine, very varied coil curls. The shampoo worked great on very wet hair, it lathered well for a clarifying shampoo without turning her hair into dry grass. I rinsed twice to make sure the water ran well and clear. The conditioner was light and moisturizing, as promoted. I took the time to work it into all strands while damp to slightly wet with a curly hair wet brush. Afterward rinsing the conditioner lightly, I put in the styling cream. Here I realized I'd put in way too much, but the effect was still very good. Her curls were less prone to tangling, moisturized and made beautiful defined coils. My hair is fine but wavy, not curly. However my hair is super dry. I like using heavily moisturizing products from time to time to feed my hair. The products were too heavy for fine straighter hair, but it really moisturized heavily. My hair has a healthy strong feel and a beautiful glisten that it has after a moisturizing hair mask. This curl cream would be great for you if you’re not looking to have too much hold in your hair. It’s thick, but it doesn’t create a very strong cast for me. As you can see, my hair is already frizzing at the roots and it’s not completely dry yet. There’s no cast to scrunch out. The pump is also really hard to use and only dispenses like a dime size of product with each pump, which means I need to pump twice just to get enough for one section of hair. It is very hydrating, so I can’t knock it down too much, but it is probably my least favorite ouidad product, which is saying a lot because I LOVE ouidad. I’m giving curl quencher gel four stars because it’s definitely an improvement over the heat and humidity climate control gel which used to be my all time favorite go-to product until the formula was changed and it became a huge disappointment. Since I’m wearing my hair longer than ever before my curls need a strong gel that will keep them from getting frizzy. Curl quencher gel works pretty well, but it doesn’t give me that wet look or crunch that some gels create when they dry. (I actually liked that crunch because it held my curls in complete control.) My curls stay defined throughout the day and even the next day with the use of a satin sleep cap. This product works as step one of my product routine. Does it give the best coverage or moisturizing power? No, but remember it is designed to also be a co-wash. You can tell by the slight astringency and bubbles post-rinse that it has mild cleansing action. You do need a fair amount to coat the hair enough to brush detangle, but it wins best all-around for curls. It smells amazing, and gives good curl definition, shine and frizz control. I wash it out, then use Alba cocoa butter as a scalp moisturizer/leave-in, and finish with a humidity hold gel, and get a beautiful cast that lasts about a week. I did prefer the previous formulation when it was called custom conditioner, (I think they were cutting costs with the change), as you didn't need to use as much, but still like it enough to keep using.dartarro21

Bumble and bumble has the key to luxurious curly hair! I was ecstatic when this generous sample came in the mail because I am always on the hunt for great hair products for my curly hair. Bumble and bumble’s Bb Curl product line made my hair soft, feeling hydrated and my curls controlled. I got a great lather and a fresh feeling from the Moisturizing Shampoo. The 3-In-1 Conditioner was very creamy and hydrating whether I rinsed it out or left it in. Not to mention the fact that my hair smelled great! Bb Curl’s Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil left me with nice, loose curls and kept my hair from getting frizzy even when the humidity was high. I also used this product right before bedtime because it felt nice and light, leaving my hair not sticky to the touch. It was nice to not wake up with crazy bed-head for a change! I used the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil heat/UV protective primer before using my straight iron and found that it worked well without leaving my hair greasy or gunky. It also did not leave any residue on my iron. The Defining cream gave my curls definition without the usual crunchy, sticky texture we all dislike so much. I use this daily on my curly hair. It doesn't leave my hair greasy feeling or looking like some of the other products I've used over the years, and I like the light coconut scent. As others have commented, it is a thick product and difficult to get out of the bottle, but my solution for that is to use a pump top from another product (like Mrs. Meyers hand soap) cut to the length needed for the SheaMoisture bottle. I save the screw-on top and use it toward the end of the bottle when the pump won't get out the last bit. Then I turn the bottle upside down, and when that doesn't work any more, I get a plastic knife and scrape the rest out. It's too good to leave any behind!!Barbara C.

Anybody with type 4 hair please buy this. I used this for the first time with the curl souffle and my only gripe is that I didn't try this a lot sooner. Super moisturising and lush on the hair. Gorgeous. My hair feels completely nourished and this is just on the first use. I would recommend if you are a thick type 4 you be quite generous when you use it because a fair amount works a long way if you are a tighter texture.Anna

I love this this product! Finally something that does NOT make my hair more frizzy, crunchy, dry or greasy. I have fine to medium curly long hair, I am of Eastern European descent. I just use a very small amount like directions advised, worked it into my wet hair, scrunched it with my hands and let air dry. My hair is sooo soft, no frizz and my curls are defined. I have been searching for a natural product without chemicals that actually works. I love it! It also has a tropical fragrance that is not overwhelming and smells so good! I found this product yearssss ago when I first started the Curly Girl Method. It was very runny, white and much lighter. I ended up repurchasing it and when I opened it, it is incredibly yellow and thick and the ingredient list is completely different. I don't use it everyday to care but in general, Shea Moisture was my Go To absolutely favorite brand and I used their shampoo and conditioner for about 8 years- but I noticed it a couple of months ago stripped my hair and caused an insane amount of frizz. This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. It's not often i find something for my curly hair that just works and i need to review to hopefully help others in their curly hair journey. I have a mixture of tight and loose curls and ringlets but my hair is prone to frizz. It doesn't matter what i put on my hair and i have tried everything, 2 days later i have a halo of frizz. This cream is amazing, definitely a holy grail for me. I use it as a curl cream (leave in) and 6 days later i still have no frizz. This is unheard of. I love the creamy texture, don't be put off by the oil in the name as it's not greasy at all. It leaves my hair soft, bouncy, defined and shiny. Yes shiny, something curly girls know is hard to achieve. I follow up with either the souffle or gel and hover over with my diffuser so as not to break the cast. Then finally use the serum to scrunch in. My hair has never looked or smelled so good. Worth every penny and i have literally paid a fortune for those sponsored curly hair brands that pop up but leave your hair feeling like straw and do nothing for your curls.Kirsty
Curlsmith gifted me a free sample of this conditioner in exchange for my honest opinion. This cream is rather rich, but you need very little product, so it doesn't weigh down the hair. I'd start with a dime-sized amount and add more as needed. I tried it on two different textures, 3C and 4C, both shoulder length. I got the best results using a nickel-sized and quarter-sized amount, respectively. It makes both curls and coils look healthy, shiny, and hydrated. It doesn't weigh hair down, and I love, most of all, that it doesn't leave hair feeling soft, not crunchy. It looks fabulous and actually feels like hair! I have to note that following the directions is crucial for my desired results, especially on coily hair. I comb it out completely before washing, and constantly rake my fingers through it while washing and conditioning to keep it detangled Once the Oil-In Cream is raked through soaking wet hair, I use the recommended praying hands method to cover the strands as best I can, but I also gently tug as I go to elongate the coils. I find this helps immensely with shrinkage. Tie it up and fluff it in the morning and it's good for 2-3 days without reapplication, unless you feel like a little additional moisture. If you wash weekly, it doesn't leave hair a sticky, greasy mess, either. Overall, while using this cream takes a few extra minutes of care, the results are well worth the effort. Also, considering the amount needed even on thick hair, this jar holds a good amount of product. This is my first experience with the Curlsmith brand, and I'm delighted that it does what it says. I have heard great things about this product on media platforms that I decided to give it a go. I purchased the smaller tub for my first purchase incase it did not agree with my hair. I have tried many products over the years and many products claim to do wonders for curly hair and these many products have ended up being a let down. I picked up my usual SheaMoisture Leave In Conditioner 100% Pure Jamaican Black Castor Oil and the Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream right next to it. Works really well on short naturally curly or wavy hair when dry. Not greasy or oily. Washes out really clean without leaving residue. Compared several products in the store for about 1/2 before deciding to get this item. Will probably be buying this item regularly. Also, I do not use this product every day as I have found that using it maybe a few times a week ( 3 times at most or every other day) and just moving the natural texture of my hair around provides adequate grooming keeping my hair looking natural and not stiff or saturated with hair grease and gook. I have short, slightly soft, and loose curly wavy hair that is probably less coarse and kinky where the texture of this cream is stiff enough to provide definition but not so stiff that it flakes up or feels greasy to the touch. if it makes your hair feel like straw. you have protein overload, a buildup of protein on your hair. Adding this protein rich product, which works great on hair like mine that needs it, will make your hair feel dry, dull and brittle. if this happens to you, look up how to treat it but basically, cut all protein containing products from your routine and focus on clarifying and moisture for a few months and then keep it balanced. I have a mix of 3c and 4a high porosity hair. This is the first time i used a curlsmith product, but from the first use i could tell that this is a really good deep conditioner. The scent is light and pretty and the moisture that it gave my hair was amazing. It left my hair feeling very soft which was surprising. it is thick, but it still offers some slip. I have used other Styling custards and curl refiners that have left that icky feeling and hard crunch in my hair. This product smells fantastic even before you open it. It has a jellie like consistency. A little bit goes a long way. I would definitely recommend applying this on damp to slightly wet hair, not dry hair for best results. If I could add a photo I would. The spray function is awful. I thought trading it over to a continuous spray bottle would work. I tried three different bottles and they all sprayed like a jet instead of a mist. Weird. Now I use this in the shower on soaking wet hair or diluted 50/50 in a continuous spray bottle on dry hair for refreshing. Works great this way. For low-porosity hair, it's way too heavy of a product to put on dry hair without diluting it this way.

This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. It’s also very gentle on my hair and the smell is light and not overpowering. So impressed with this product and very glad to have found it. Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. This is my new favorite hair product. As someone with a lot of hair, but very fine hair, it’s hard to find a product that doesn’t weigh me down- this allows for my hair to have shape and volume that lasts. The best results I’ve had came from using a denman brush to curl my hair, smoothing the roots over once. This method achieved beautiful formed waves for three days after. Verb is much less expensive than other curl products I’ve tried and it out performs all of them. I would highly recommend this to anyone with loose curls or waves, especially those with fine frizz prone hair like me. For reference I use this after I wash my hair with a kevin murphy cowash. Wow, I love this! I was hesitant because I see a lot of influencers use it and I always worry that that over hype things. But it really does reduce frizz and hold curl. A little goes a very long way, so it is easy to overdo it. My hair is 2C/3A and I live in a pretty dry climate and this was the perfect balance. I will say it did seem to "weigh down" my hair a bit more than other products, however, I'll take slightly less volume to have non-frizzy and light curls. I love Verb products. This one was new to me, but I had to try it. Glad I did! My tired, frizzy, permed curls were dying quickly. I needed a pick- me- up for them and this did the trick. A little, tiny bit goes a long way – all of Verb is like this. I love that because the product lasts, which means I'm not spending a fortune on hair, but getting a good, quality product. Hello. I've been using this for over 20 years, and I've never had a problem with it until now. I purchased a tube just two months ago, but didn't use immediately until yesterday. To my surprise, after two months in storage in a cool, dark room, the crème in the tube had black specks in it, and it had separated into two parts–one was watery and the other was the cream. Over 60% of it was water. I had to shake it for a good 2 minutes to emulsify it. Like I mentioned, I've been buying this product for the past 20 years, and this is the first time this ever happened. I was very disappointed in the quality, and am beginning to wonder if Aveda is beginning to dilute this product to save money. Also, I loved your discontinued product from the Aveda Brilliant line: Brilliant Spray-on Shine 3.4 oz. It was one of my favorites; wasn't sticky and the fragrance was wonderful and light, not overbearing. Once again, disappointed that Aveda is discontinuing items from their older, classic collections. And please don't suggest I try products from your other collections because I've already tried several, and they are not equivalent to the Brilliant Spray-on Shine. My hair troubles are TOUGH! I have a head of hair that is long, fine, but there's a whole lot of it. My industrial job exposes it to 400°F temperatures, and more dry, dirty and dusty conditions than people can usually comprehend. It is always dry, and brittle, frizzy, split. But between this line of conditioner, and hair mask, my hair is wonderful again! It erases a long day in and out of the oven, I'm pretty sure it's just a bottle of magic. Please don't ever stop this line of products. It is the superior of the other lines I have tried, (even new ones) not leaving any type of residue behind. I was very concerned about trying this product because I never heard of a "co-wash". So I did a little research online and found out that a "co-wash" is a conditioning shampoo of sorts. Oh okay, and it won't strip your hair if your hair, like mine, is dry and prone to frizz! So, I'm a hair Type 4A with 3C pieces throughout and I have been loyal to Aveda for decades (*since the 90's) so I thought, will this work for my newly natural hair? Well IT WORKED! It worked quite well too! My hair was soft, nowhere near as tangled as it has been, and so smooth and smells great! I am not paid for any of my comments here, but I chose to write a lengthy one because if you're desperately searching for natural products for natural hair, you'll want a brand like Aveda. However, if you are in the Type 4 category, finding a product for our curly coils is sometimes maddening. So let me finish my regimen as of last night. I washed with the Co-Wash, then I put the Detangling Masque on (*ALL BE CURLY LINE) and let it sit while I showered (*next time I may heat it under a dryer for maximum penetration), and then I combed through it and was amazed and how the tangles were so few! I then used the Be CURLY Curl Enhancer, and twisted my hair in multiple sections. Untwisting it, as it dried overnight, I have soft, defined, and smooth hair. I'm about to cry because Finally found the method! So then, this morning, I said, what might happen if I use my go to favorite, the Brilliant Humectant so I did! The result was beautiful shiny waves that were absolutely soft and smooth! I'm so happy! I will not lie, I did try multiple shampoos and conditioners with my newly natural hair, and none of them did more than tangle my hair. This, however, this is the ticket! I will continue using it, and also will ask that Aveda will hopefully move to larger sizes in these products as I like to have what I need in large quantities! I have 3a/3b type curls. The Crinkles & Curls foaming product puts a little more volume at my roots while leaving my curls natural and full. I use it in combination with the Curl Sealer and never in my life has my hair been so easy to comb through (in the shower) and been so soft. It doesn't leave it crunchy or weighted down like other products do and I can go for about 3 days between washing, refreshing the curls around my face by dampening my fingers adding a little curl sealer and combing in and scrunching. Works perfect to refresh my curls from the overnight fuzzies.

I have curly, frizzy extremely dehydrated hair. First of all, this conditioner smells like a a coconut punch to your nose. If you dislike fragrance, this will not suit you. If you hate coconut, smelling this will make you faint. I do not mind gentle coconut smell, but this perfume is too strong. However, I got used to the smell over time, so now I no longer notice it. The performance, however, is nothing special. I noticed that my hair became even more frizzy than before, and not moisturized at all. The dispenser is horrible. The dispenser hole is extremely small, and I must exercise in order to get a good amount of product in my hand. Do not try taking out the dispenser, because the product is like a clump of clay and will not exit the bottle without the dispenser. Just use the pump until you give up. Out of all the new products that come out, I some how go back to this Styling Creme. I have 4C hair, but this is the only product that gives me a great twistout. I do have to agree with the other comments about that it dries the hair, but a quick fix to that I found was to use a oil after you finish twisting your hair and again before you take your twist out. I have wavy curls so my hair isn’t nearly as curly as some on here, but it does do the job. I suggest mixing Maui moisturize hair care with it to help not only with the smell if you don’t like it, but make your hair less likely to feel dry.

I don't blow dry nor do I dye my hair. I use hair creams and sometime flexible styling hair sprays not related to this brand. With that said, with this shampoo I sometimes have to lather twice to really feel like I fully removed any hair products, other than that, this shampoo does lather well & has a soft smell to it. It's winter here at the moment and this shampoo is not helping with my winter dandruff, which it's okay, I scalp detox once a week & that helps for a while, not this brand either, but I'm mentioning it incase you think it helps moisturize your scalp. As for conditioner, I use a different brand too & thanks because I like how my conditioner defines my curls but unfortunately this other brand conditioner does not add volume, niece I'm done with what I have, I'll try the conditioner for Ouidad.Discovering curly hair products
This curl cream would be great for you if you’re not looking to have too much hold in your hair. It’s thick, but it doesn’t create a very strong cast for me. As you can see, my hair is already frizzing at the roots and it’s not completely dry yet. There’s no cast to scrunch out. The pump is also really hard to use and only dispenses like a dime size of product with each pump, which means I need to pump twice just to get enough for one section of hair. It is very hydrating, so I can’t knock it down too much, but it is probably my least favorite ouidad product, which is saying a lot because I LOVE ouidad. This is my new favorite shampoo. I've tried MANY from various curl lines. I have fine wavy hair that's prone to frizz. It is also slightly damaged with bleach. I have struggled with dry scalp for a long time as well. This shampoo not only cleans well, but it doesn't leave my scalp nor my hair feeling dried out at all. It's moisturizing and cleansing.
