I received this sample size product complimentary to try from Influenster and Moroccanoil for my honest review and opinion. I really liked the smell of this cream. My hair is kinda weird it’s curly underneath but on top it’s more wavy and frizzy. The parts where my hair is naturally more curly curled super pretty and looked great but the wavier pieces it didn’t change much. It felt a little heavy also but I may have just used to much product. I feel i would need to use it a few more times to give a more accurate review but right now I’d say it’s an average curl defining cream. I also let my hair air dry and I’m curious how it would look if I used a diffuser. I think I’ll end up buying a full size and give it a try. My daughter also has curlier hair than I do and I feel it may be better with her texture and curl. Overall I liked it and would recommend it for anyone with curlier hair.Meliss86
I LOVE this product and this whole brand. I was sent a sample of the curl defining cream and the smell won me over instantly. It just makes your hair smell so good. My husband thought it was my shampoo or conditioner, but he told me my hair smelt so good the first time I used this product. I even went and bought the perfect defense heat protector spray after they sent me this sample. I use it after I curl my hair with my straightener and it just makes my hair smell amazing, reduces any frizz left, and makes my curls bouncy. I also let my daughter use it and she loved it as well. She has super curly ringlets and used it after a shower and her curls looked so good. They were bouncy and frizzless. Received this as a free sample from Influenster. The sample size was a bit too small for me to get a full idea of how this product works for my hair specifically as I usually need a few weeks of use to make a fair judgement, but from a limited perspective, my takeaways are as follows: Smell- amazing, the standard MoroccanOil smell Texture- I prefer styling creams and used this in place of my current one and I did notice that this left a bit of a shell to my hair after use. If I had enough to try again, I may use a bit less product next time, though I didn’t use much. Seems pretty concentrated. If I had received a full bottle, I do think I’d continue to use it until it ran out but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this item. Everyone’s hair is different and mine reacted sort of “meh.” Not bad but not impressive either. I have been using this product in conjunction with the rest of the curlific line and I am a customer for life. I use the texture treatment each wash day which is once a week and I follow the instructions on the container which says to only leave it on for a minute after working over entire head. I follow up with the leave in conditioner and the curl definer and a moisturizer from another brand and I have noticed the difference! My hair feels stronger and it doesn't look dull as with other pricier brands. I am starting to notice length retention and my ends couldn't be more healthier! I love aphogee in general, but this line is now my staple styling line! As far as hair typing goes.. I have a mix of 4a-4c. As with others, I have not seen the entire line at Sally's, so I have to order from pharmapacks. Entire line includes the texture wash, texture treatment, leave in conditioner and curl definer styling cream.

However, I would like to know how this product passed quality control due to the smell?!! It literally smells like the bottom of a litter box with 4 Male cats. It's not often i find something for my curly hair that just works and i need to review to hopefully help others in their curly hair journey. I have a mixture of tight and loose curls and ringlets but my hair is prone to frizz. It doesn't matter what i put on my hair and i have tried everything, 2 days later i have a halo of frizz. This cream is amazing, definitely a holy grail for me. I use it as a curl cream (leave in) and 6 days later i still have no frizz. This is unheard of. I love the creamy texture, don't be put off by the oil in the name as it's not greasy at all. It leaves my hair soft, bouncy, defined and shiny. Yes shiny, something curly girls know is hard to achieve. I follow up with either the souffle or gel and hover over with my diffuser so as not to break the cast. Then finally use the serum to scrunch in. My hair has never looked or smelled so good. Curlsmith gifted me a free sample of this conditioner in exchange for my honest opinion. This cream is rather rich, but you need very little product, so it doesn't weigh down the hair. I'd start with a dime-sized amount and add more as needed. I tried it on two different textures, 3C and 4C, both shoulder length. I got the best results using a nickel-sized and quarter-sized amount, respectively. It makes both curls and coils look healthy, shiny, and hydrated. It doesn't weigh hair down, and I love, most of all, that it doesn't leave hair feeling soft, not crunchy. It looks fabulous and actually feels like hair! I have to note that following the directions is crucial for my desired results, especially on coily hair. I comb it out completely before washing, and constantly rake my fingers through it while washing and conditioning to keep it detangled Once the Oil-In Cream is raked through soaking wet hair, I use the recommended praying hands method to cover the strands as best I can, but I also gently tug as I go to elongate the coils. I find this helps immensely with shrinkage. Tie it up and fluff it in the morning and it's good for 2-3 days without reapplication, unless you feel like a little additional moisture. If you wash weekly, it doesn't leave hair a sticky, greasy mess, either. Overall, while using this cream takes a few extra minutes of care, the results are well worth the effort. Also, considering the amount needed even on thick hair, this jar holds a good amount of product. This is my first experience with the Curlsmith brand, and I'm delighted that it does what it says. I have natural/4a hair. I used this product after taking down a 6 week protective. I started off by shampooing with the TGIN Rosewater hydrating shampoo ( Which I LOVE). After that, I applied this protein treatment for about 10-15 mins. I immediately followed up with the TGIN Moisture Deep Conditioning Mask.. it left my hair feeling amazingly healthy.My hair went from feeling limp and brown to shedding and breakage, to strong and resilient to shedding & breakage. I have very fine, high porosity (very absorbent), blonde curly hair. I don't have the best of luck with styling creams, some work and some weigh my hair down, some feel very crispy, some make my hair look instantly greasy. This stuff works! I wash and condition (sun bum regular or Pacifica pineapple curls) and then put a little of this styling cream into my wet but not sopping wet hair. Then I sleep on it and in the morning my hair is good to go. Nice natural looking and feeling curls that stay in. As someone who has stick straight hair, I love this product. A disclaimer, my hair is not capable of getting that cute scrunched look. If I want curls, heat is my only option. I shower, add the styling cream (smells amazing), air dry overnight, and then curl in the morning. If I spray my longer thin hair with this when damp, my natural curls get definition and less frizz. It's my go to for wash and go days. It reminds me a little of a "saltwater" spritz, but it is very lightweight. My bottle did develop a problem… the spray kept getting clogged! It was so annoying. I though it was like hairspray and ran the pump with hot water, but the problem kept returning frequently. I finally realized it was IN the product. This has HG status in my hair routine. I used to air-dry my natural (3b/3c/4a medium density, low porosity) hair because I didn't want to apply any sort of heat on my hair. I’ve been using this product after a leave in and before my gel and it has seemed weightless. My hair styles just fine while diffusing. I use a Shark Hyper Air dryer, but even on the lowest heat it still gets hot, so I alternate with cool shot during my drying routine. So I never use straight heat when diffusing. I use a pool nearly everyday in the summer but I don’t wet my hair. I do use a lot of spray on dry hair to repel the sun. I’m guessing it’s doing its job? After shampooing my hair I towel dry my long color treated hair very gently with a water absorbing towel and put a few pumps of the 14 in 1 Miracle Worker into my hands, rub them together and apply to my hair from midway down to the ends. I can then let it air dry while I sleep and wake up to a gentle wave in my hair. If my hair looks slightly frizzy during the week, i will pull into a ponytail, wet my hands with water and slightly dampen my hanging ponytail hair before putting a few pumps of 14 in 1 Miracle Worker into my hands, rubbing together and disperse onto my long haired ponytail. This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Once dry, I scrunch with my hands or a t-shirt to get the “crunch” out and my hair looks so good after. It holds the waves in nicely all day long and strong.kelly.w
Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. When I tell you I’m the perfect guinea pig for stuff like this because I am truly so prone to messing stuff up..GIRL. Listen to me. i love this product and it does everything it says it should — my hair is finicky, so that's high praise. but the glass bottle? garbage. knocked it over one time and it shattered, and i do mean SHATTERED, into many tiny pieces. i keep finding them the hard way because they were too small to see to sweep up. t couldn't salvage the serum because of all the little shards! nearly $30 in the trash, itty bitty shards stabbing my feet, and oil/serum that took hours to completely remove from my floor. i understand sustainability, but surely there's a medium to be met here?
The product was okay; I used it for about 4 days. Then on day 5, the slightly oily bottle slipped from my hand to the tile floor and shattered – I mean SHATTERED- into a million pieces. Still picking up tiny pink shards of glass and also pulling them from my feet. Have used lots of oil type hair products in past and never had breakage like this. I would avoid based purely on packaging!
I wasn't blessed with thick hair. Mine is fine, medium length and color-treated (honey beige blonde) with a mind of its own. Until a month ago, my hair routine was shampoo/condition, work oil treatment through hair, use foam volumizer, and blow-dry. I saw BLOCKADE on Amika website and realized in all my years of styling and blow-drying, my hair looked fine for a few days then lost its fizzle. Okay, so maybe it's the weather. BLOCKADE Test Run: I shampooed and conditioned; stepped out of the shower. I worked three pumps of BLOCKADE through my hair.. I could see a difference, my hair was loving it and I wasn't half finished. I used my other oil treatment, foam volumizing then started blow-drying. It was then that I saw a huge difference. My hair felt/looked fuller and shinier. I had used other products that supposedly protect the hair from heat and damage but none of them did what BLOCKADE does. My family and friends noticed the difference which is huge. BLOCKADE lives up to its name and delivers. My style lasts til the next shampooing. Curious to see what my hairstylist has to say at my next appointment. I also bring my Amika products with me.

I went to CVS because I ran out of leave in conditioner. I picked up my usual SheaMoisture Leave In Conditioner 100% Pure Jamaican Black Castor Oil and the Taliah Waajid Curly Curl Cream right next to it. It caught my eye because the container was small and I had never heard of the brand. Plus you couldn't beat the price so I said let me just try this and worst case it's not expensive. WOOOOO let me tell you that I came on this website just to LEAVE A REVIEW because my curls are like never before!!! I almost want to return the expensive SheaMoisture Leave In. Please do yourself a favor and buy this! At first it feels stiff in your hair but rinse some water over it and MAGIC happens.Dalila
Works really well on short naturally curly or wavy hair when dry. Not greasy or oily. Washes out really clean without leaving residue. Compared several products in the store for about 1/2 before deciding to get this item. Will probably be buying this item regularly. Also, I do not use this product every day as I have found that using it maybe a few times a week ( 3 times at most or every other day) and just moving the natural texture of my hair around provides adequate grooming keeping my hair looking natural and not stiff or saturated with hair grease and gook. I have short, slightly soft, and loose curly wavy hair that is probably less coarse and kinky where the texture of this cream is stiff enough to provide definition but not so stiff that it flakes up or feels greasy to the touch. I did not expect much from this product having purchased it to fix up my hair after being unable to afford a haircut for a pending job interview. I didn't get the job but my hair still looks great from the product and save me $35 at the barber.Michael
I started using this cream because a friend of mine said that it would tame my hair LOL. I have a ton of very wavy hair that could have been very pretty curls with the right stuff well… This is definitely the right stuff. Before I've used this my hair was frizzy, wavy but not soft and silky. Once I started using this turn my curls into beautiful 1 and my hair nail looks healthy shiny and the frizzies are all gone! Before drying my hair after bath, applying this immediately added softness! This is my absolute FAVORITE hair product. My aunt tried it on my hair once and I can never go back. I have pretty curly hair that is really good to use with a cream because it is not very fine. It minimizes frizz and gives me the definition that I want. I would say it is definitely worth a lil splurge.
