i never write reviews for anything but holy cow this quite literally saved my hair. for reference i have a mix of 2b, 2c, and 3a hair due to years of coloring and heat damage. i have quite a bit of hair and it's thick, low porosity, and protein sensitive. no matter what "hydrating" products i've used my hair has always felt dry and never absorbed anything i put in it. i got my colored red hair retouched recently and not quite sure what my stylist used to treat my hair this time around but it came out sooo dry and brittle. after some research and finding out more about my hair type i decided to try this plus the conditioner that goes with it. and wow is all i have to say. i've never had hair this soft straight out the shower and it's so easy to comb through now. curls i thought were lost forever returned. i'm also noticing less hair fallout probably from my hair not being so tangled anymore. this shampoo cleanses really well without stripping my hair and it just overall transformed the look and feel of my hair. 10/10 recommend if you have a similar hair typepia

It is not watered down nor is it very thin, it comes out smoothly and I only need a small amount to thoroughly clean my hair. I like the way my hair feels afterwards and the very nice smell. This Pacifica Pineapple Conditioner is a great followup to the shampoo to lock in the right nourishment to produce the curls you need. It made my hair come back to life after hair dyes had caused damage of dryness and lifeless hair. It’s more youthful because it’s shiny, wavy and soft again! It actually works as promised! Smells fresh, although the shampoo is stronger. I love the Pacifica products I’ve been trying because of my curiosity and sales I’m trying more. I just started my natural curly hair journey from when I started damaging it as a teenager! I feel like this shampoo was highly recommended and I just could get enough of how amazing it smells! I just finished this bottle and I'm sorry to say I won't buy it again. The shampoo itself is ok but I feel like it weighs my hair down. But I am hating this new container designs. It arrived leaking within the plastic bag. And then somehow, the bottle continued to leak from the top even though I had it stored upright. By the time I finished the bottle, the whole thing had a thick coating of shampoo on it. AND there's no way to open the top to add a little water to get all of the product out. This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. It’s also very gentle on my hair and the smell is light and not overpowering. So impressed with this product and very glad to have found it. Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I bought this on a whim because I was like, what's the harm in another product supposedly for curly hair? Boy was I surprised!! I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. Finallyyyyy I found a product that actually hydrates my hair, makes it look great curly, and isn't making it frizzy or puffy. The only con about this product is that I really really wish they made versions of this product in larger bottles because the conditioner tends to go quickly especially if you have long curly hair like me. Delicious! Smells so good! I bought it to control frizz in my wavy hair. I am using in conjunction with the Curls & Waves Styling Creme and it is a nice combo for soft hair. This curl cream would be great for you if you’re not looking to have too much hold in your hair. It’s thick, but it doesn’t create a very strong cast for me. As you can see, my hair is already frizzing at the roots and it’s not completely dry yet. There’s no cast to scrunch out. The pump is also really hard to use and only dispenses like a dime size of product with each pump, which means I need to pump twice just to get enough for one section of hair. It is very hydrating, so I can’t knock it down too much, but it is probably my least favorite ouidad product, which is saying a lot because I LOVE ouidad. I’m giving curl quencher gel four stars because it’s definitely an improvement over the heat and humidity climate control gel which used to be my all time favorite go-to product until the formula was changed and it became a huge disappointment. Since I’m wearing my hair longer than ever before my curls need a strong gel that will keep them from getting frizzy. Curl quencher gel works pretty well, but it doesn’t give me that wet look or crunch that some gels create when they dry. (I actually liked that crunch because it held my curls in complete control.) My curls stay defined throughout the day and even the next day with the use of a satin sleep cap. I’m grateful for this product since my 17 year love affair with heat and humidity gel had to end when the formula changed.Pamela D.

I actually really like this conditioner. The first time I bought it, I didn't. I decided to give it another try and k actually really like it. I use it as a rinse out and when I "squish to condish". I feel more comfortable using this for squish to condish rather than a normal rinse out conditioner because those are not meant to be left in the hair and this one is. I do rinse this out though. I really wanted to love this product and I did in the first month of using it. I applied it in the shower and brushed through it really easily, it helped revive my waves, and I really liked the smell. Unfortunately after about a month of use I started noticing really bad dandruff at the front of my hairline, big dandruff flakes, and the nape of my neck was itch. Then I started getting this weird buildup on my hair after the shower. My hair just felt really tacky, when I tried to brush through it, it got tangled immediately because it was sticking to itself, I even noticed some white buildup on my brush. So the next time, I washed the brush, washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, and made sure to wash out the conditioner well…really well. And it still left this really sticky gross buildup on my hair. It was almost impossible to even run my fingers through. I shampooed my hair twice with a clarifying shampoo and went back to one of my old conditioners and my hair is pretty much back to normal. There is still maybe one part that is still a little sticky/tacky so I'll have to wash it again. Maybe this works for some people, it just didn't work for me. I really like Not Your Mother's products but this particular one didn't quite make the cut. I love how they are free of alcohol, silicones, phthalates, sulfates and dyes. This can be used as a leave in conditioner, rinse out or just as a co-wash. It does enhance my curls and give some definition but my hair is so oily the next day, I have to wash it. Also, my hair seems extra tangley and dry the next day. Just remember that everybody's curls are different and so what might not work for me, might work for you.ashley.b

I just tried this for the first time today and loved it! I usually have to keep my deep conditioner in for 20-30 minutes on wash day, but I only kept this one in for 10 minutes and it penetrated so quickly. When I tell you this deep conditioner made my hair feel like butter…. My hair is curly and thick, and was very dry. I had tried different hair products that helped but didn't fix the problem. I didn't have to use a lot of the product (which is usually not the case). It is very thick and creamy with a light pleasant smell. It is not cheap, $38, but I can definitely see you get more than 6 treatments out of it. That's $6 for a treatment that feels like you got it done professionally. I have had treatments like this cost me $25 per application. Super worth it, and will be purchasing again and again. And telling everyone about it!!lark.s

I tried this deep conditioner out and was pleased. The consistency is super thick and absorbs very well. It was like a thick body cream consistency. My hair was super soft and was easy to de-tangle. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the smell is super light but not very good smelling. The smell didn’t linger at all but I could smell it before rinsing it out and was not a fan. This product works as step one of my product routine. Does it give the best coverage or moisturizing power? No, but remember it is designed to also be a co-wash. You can tell by the slight astringency and bubbles post-rinse that it has mild cleansing action. You do need a fair amount to coat the hair enough to brush detangle, but it wins best all-around for curls. It smells amazing, and gives good curl definition, shine and frizz control. I wash it out, then use Alba cocoa butter as a scalp moisturizer/leave-in, and finish with a humidity hold gel, and get a beautiful cast that lasts about a week. I did prefer the previous formulation when it was called custom conditioner, (I think they were cutting costs with the change), as you didn't need to use as much, but still like it enough to keep using.dartarro21

I have pretty wavy hair that curls on the bottom layers, and it needs a lot of moisture to avoid frizz and stay shiny. This shampoo and conditioner really deliver! Bumble and bumble has the key to luxurious curly hair! I was ecstatic when this generous sample came in the mail because I am always on the hunt for great hair products for my curly hair. Bumble and bumble’s Bb Curl product line made my hair soft, feeling hydrated and my curls controlled. I got a great lather and a fresh feeling from the Moisturizing Shampoo. The 3-In-1 Conditioner was very creamy and hydrating whether I rinsed it out or left it in. Not to mention the fact that my hair smelled great! Bb Curl’s Anti-Humidity Gel-Oil left me with nice, loose curls and kept my hair from getting frizzy even when the humidity was high. I also used this product right before bedtime because it felt nice and light, leaving my hair not sticky to the touch. It was nice to not wake up with crazy bed-head for a change! I used the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil heat/UV protective primer before using my straight iron and found that it worked well without leaving my hair greasy or gunky. It also did not leave any residue on my iron. The Defining cream gave my curls definition without the usual crunchy, sticky texture we all dislike so much. My curls still bounced while I walked and I could even pick my hair without ruining the hold. It didn’t flake off either. I bought several liter sized shampoos and conditioners. When they arrived, several of the tops were loose and had spilled within the box. Quite a mess and an unfortunate waste of expensive hair product. Disappointed that Aveda doesn't do a better job to secure the contents of their shipments to guarantee safe arrival. I alternate between the Be Curly conditioner and the Scalp Remedy conditioner. The both work great according to my hair needs (flaky scalp, fine curly hair) and they both smell fantastic. I highly recommend taking advantage of the Aveda rewards program. Save your points. I stock up when they run triple points weekends. We were able to save enough points to cash them in for a trip to the Aveda Spa and resort in Antigua. I'm shocked at how much I dislike this conditioner. I've been using Be Curly Curl Enhancer as my only styling product for years and love it, so I thought I'd splurge on the Be Curly Shampoo and Conditioner. It's way more $$$ than I usually spend, but I try to only wash my curly hair a few times a week. My hair is thick and curly and tangles easily, but otherwise low-maintenance; my stylist always comments on how healthy it is. This conditioner does nothing to help detangle my hair and I end up having to use a ton of it. When I rinse it out, it leaves my hair feeling sticky when it's wet and coarse when it's dry. In conjunction with the Brazilian foam, this works wonders for my curls. It doesn’t take much application. It also doesn’t make my hair feel dry. This curl cream was one of my first purchases from Mielle! I was very excited to use it, it actually worked great for my curly hair at first. My hair actually started growing out thicker. I was also using the avocado moisturizer with this curl cream. Unfortunately, I noticed that with or without the moisturizer, my hair still looked like dry curls! I love this this product! Finally something that does NOT make my hair more frizzy, crunchy, dry or greasy. I have fine to medium curly long hair, I am of Eastern European descent. I just use a very small amount like directions advised, worked it into my wet hair, scrunched it with my hands and let air dry. My hair is sooo soft, no frizz and my curls are defined. I found this product yearssss ago when I first started the Curly Girl Method. It was very runny, white and much lighter. I ended up repurchasing it and when I opened it, it is incredibly yellow and thick and the ingredient list is completely different. I don't use it everyday to care but in general, Shea Moisture was my Go To absolutely favorite brand and I used their shampoo and conditioner for about 8 years- but I noticed it a couple of months ago stripped my hair and caused an insane amount of frizz. There was a point where I over moisturized my hair and I needed a protein treatment to bring my curls back to normal. I didn't have this then, but so glad this came out a few months after. This stuff keeps your hair balanced. So you have a balance of moisture and protein. It makes your hair really bouncy and soft and back to life. Especially if you have color treated hair like mine (I have light highlights on black hair), it helps just keep the hair healthy! Especially the ends! I love to use this as a pre treatment before I wash my hair. It has SUCH an amazing slip that it de-tangles your hair better than anything I've ever used. I put this in dry hair and it untangles my hair like a gem. I leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour and then wash my hair. It smells really good too. It just amplifies your hair. My hair is always tangled by the time it's washed say and a huge mess, and this really brings back the shine and life to it. And all the products I use work even better! Definitely recommend this. I started diffusing my hair for about a week and noticed some slight additional frizz due to the heat. Thus, the reason for purchasing this product. I have type 2b or 2c (?) wavy/curly hair that I had kept platinum blonde for roughly 2 years. I recently colored it dark brown and I use a curling iron on it. For a while I just assumed that all of this stress had completely destroyed my curl pattern. My curls became very loose and uneven and extremely frizzy – that is until I used this literally once. I regularly shampoo and condition with Olaplex, but used this in place of the conditioner, leaving it on for ~10 minutes. I scrunched a small amount of oil in my hair when I got out of the shower and let it air dry. I'm amazed, my curls look just like they did before my hair was ever bleached. First off—great protein based gel. It has no glycerin, it’s lightweight and smells amazing. (Yes like blueberries!) But like everyone says it can dry sticky or stiff and limit hair movement if not used correctly. 1. Damp not wet hair—when the hair is too wet the gel will just evaporate leaving the hair frizzy with no definition imo… 2. Don’t use alone—I used it by itself and my hair was giving stiffness. No movement or anything. It also dried up in days. I paired it with their Leave-in (great slip btw) 3. Don’t use too much—a little goes a LONG way. Also note this isn’t your super hold gel it’s very much lightweight, for soft curl definition, so more doesn’t mean more it makes it sticky. 4. Optionally Dry with a diffuser—let the hair air dry for up to an hour and use a diffuser attachment to dry. That way there’s no stickinessCurlfriend

The Blueberry Bliss collection is perfect for hair growth and repairing damaged. This gel specifically is perfect for humidity (hot or cold weather) and just keeps your curls in perfect condition all day long. I use this gel in every season of the year. I have used many gels before, trust me when I say this one is the best one. Unlike other gels this gel is thick and smells heavenly. The blueberry scent will get your hair smelling nice all day. It's not often i find something for my curly hair that just works and i need to review to hopefully help others in their curly hair journey. This cream is amazing, definitely a holy grail for me. I use it as a curl cream (leave in) and 6 days later i still have no frizz. This is unheard of. I love the creamy texture, don't be put off by the oil in the name as it's not greasy at all. It leaves my hair soft, bouncy, defined and shiny. Yes shiny, something curly girls know is hard to achieve. I follow up with either the souffle or gel and hover over with my diffuser so as not to break the cast. Then finally use the serum to scrunch in. My hair has never looked or smelled so good. Curlsmith gifted me a free sample of this conditioner in exchange for my honest opinion. This cream is rather rich, but you need very little product, so it doesn't weigh down the hair. I'd start with a dime-sized amount and add more as needed. I tried it on two different textures, 3C and 4C, both shoulder length. I got the best results using a nickel-sized and quarter-sized amount, respectively. It makes both curls and coils look healthy, shiny, and hydrated. It doesn't weigh hair down, and I love, most of all, that it doesn't leave hair feeling soft, not crunchy. It looks fabulous and actually feels like hair! I have to note that following the directions is crucial for my desired results, especially on coily hair. I comb it out completely before washing, and constantly rake my fingers through it while washing and conditioning to keep it detangled Once the Oil-In Cream is raked through soaking wet hair, I use the recommended praying hands method to cover the strands as best I can, but I also gently tug as I go to elongate the coils. I find this helps immensely with shrinkage. Tie it up and fluff it in the morning and it's good for 2-3 days without reapplication, unless you feel like a little additional moisture. If you wash weekly, it doesn't leave hair a sticky, greasy mess, either. Overall, while using this cream takes a few extra minutes of care, the results are well worth the effort. Also, considering the amount needed even on thick hair, this jar holds a good amount of product. This is my first experience with the Curlsmith brand, and I'm delighted that it does what it says. I have heard great things about this product on media platforms that I decided to give it a go. I purchased the smaller tub for my first purchase incase it did not agree with my hair. I have tried many products over the years and many products claim to do wonders for curly hair and these many products have ended up being a let down. This product without question does exactly what is says on the tin. From my first use I could see the difference and feel the difference it made to my curls. I have 2c/3a curls. This cream is thick and a little goes a long way. It did not way my hair down at all. My curls were tighter and so much shine to them. There is no cast or crunch. My curls are so soft. The smell of the product is out of this world. I hate products that do not smell nice. This one smells like a fruit salad. I can not recommend this product highly enough. I will definitely be keeping this as my regular leave in conditioner. I am seriously considering purchasing some of other products in this line.Eileen

This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. However, I still use Uncle Funky’s Daughter every single day and it’s been excellent for my 3b hair! And CGM approved!!! Worth every penny and lasts long.Natalie

I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Once dry, I scrunch with my hands or a t-shirt to get the “crunch” out and my hair looks so good after. It holds the waves in nicely all day long and strong.kelly.w

Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. When I tell you I’m the perfect guinea pig for stuff like this because I am truly so prone to messing stuff up..GIRL. Listen to me. I bought the 2oz bottle, not a gallon but there's no option for it. So I used the sample sachet of the unscented version and I thought it was good sulfate-free shampoo. I wanted to try a scented one so I bought the 2oz Island Fantasy and I don’t know what went wrong. I had to use way more of the shampoo this time around to even get enough to work through to my scalp. When I rinsed it out this time it felt like my hair was stripped and squeaky and my roots felt tangled. When I used the unscented sample it was soft and felt smooth in my hair when rinsing out. I followed this up with my usual go-to Dove intense moisture conditioner and my hair is not drying the same. It looks dry, feels dry, and the frizz has been real. I’ve been trying to tame it by twisting and clipping it up in a bun all day because of how bad my hair has been looking. Is there a difference between the unscented and Island Fantasy? Really sucks because I’ve been wanting to find a good sulfate-free shampoo to use in between normal sulfate washes, but it seems like none of Jessicurl products work for me.julia.s

One of the things about gels that I run into is it not being being 100% compatible with very season. Some gels are good for all year round, while some gels work their magic best in certain seasons, but this gel right here work’s it’s magic no matter the season or whatever may come up, where your hair needs strong hold and ultimate frizz protection that you can count on truly all day long. This gel is glycerin free, for those who may be interested in such. It does contain alcohol listed as its last ingredient, but alcohol is actually a component t of one of the polyquat’s used in this product. So, alcohol isn’t added separately to this product, for those that may have been wondering. It is on 7/10ths of this product. Also, you do not smell any traces of such when you smell this product at all. The fragrance free version comes completely fragrance free, and this gel has a lightweight consistency (but is not runny), it dries clear, it doesn’t flake, and it gives y hair hold fit more than one day, which for me is a miracle, because with most stylers that I use, I have to refresh my hair with more styling product ASAP every morning. Because, after I sleep on my hair, even with a satin bonnet on, my hair typically be needing some extra help in the mornings, for sure. But, the hold on this product is fantastic. I can use this product on both wet and dry hair without any problems, but I do choose to use Jessicurl’s hairspray (which is alcohol free) to give my hair a quick pick me up or to take flyaways that may pop up in between my hair wash day. They do have a curl refresher within the Jessicurl line, but it just isn’t best suited for my hair unfortunately. But, their hair spray on the other hand works so much better at reviving my hair, whenever needed. This is a very universal gel that was created for all curltypes, all hair textures, and definitely for all races. So, if you haven’t given Jessicurl a try yet, I’d highly recommend checking out all that they have to offer and what products may suit your wavy, curly, or coily hair best for sure!sybil.w

Maybe I just have the worst luck with hair products or something because it’s such a struggle to find anything that actually works. I purchased a small 2oz bottle of this deep conditioner and I don’t understand what’s deep conditioning about it. It’s super-duper thick and hard to get out of the bottle which seemed like a good thing if it was moisturizing at all. The smell was nice and light but had a hint of a weird crayon smell that the other unscented Jessicurl products have. It had no slip and I was already kind of worried that it would not be moisturizing. I left it on and put a cap on for 30 ish minutes with a towel wrapped around my head to trap heat in. I also periodically used the blow dryer to heat it up inside the towel. I rinsed it all out and then put some argan oil and OGX Moroccan oil and wrapped my hair with a Tshirt. When I was letting it air dry after that, I could tell things were going south with how crispy and frayed my ends were looking. I JUST trimmed my ends a week before as well so this shouldn’t have happened if I deep conditioned my hair. During the drying process, my hair frizzed up a lot and looked super dry and crispy. My ends felt crispy and my ends were a tangled mess. I tried to smooth out my frizzy waves but it was still a terrible mess (photo on the right).julia.s

Wow! This product is like a magic. I just received it today and immediately tried on my yesterday's frizzy curls, and it worked just perfectly even without using all other Cantu products yet. My curls get defined and shiny again, I'm impressed. I sprayed it on my hair by sections and scrunched a bit, then let them dry. Dispenser is a bit odd, it's making rather a little jet than spray, but it's not a big problem.iHerb Customer
