20 Best Products For Naturally Straight Hair (Jan 2023 Update)

I have thick wavy/frizzy hair (no curls) with highlight/low light to help deal with growing out grays. Paul Mitchell Straight Works is perfect for my hair. This stuff is thick so I use it sparingly in sections and comb it through, I then lightly spray Kenra Platinum Blow Dry all over to protect from blow dryer. Works great together. This does not have heat protectant (as stated on bottle). If you use heat tools you should use a heat protectant with this. I love it!Klea36

One of the best straightening products I have ever used but not much of a heavy fragrance so, no parfume clashing I personally love the lack of fragrances but if you love a heavy perfume smell in your hair products this isnt for you. Its not greasy at all but not drying. My hair is very thick, confused wanna be curly and frizzy and this worked incredibly well and kept my hair smooth for 2 days. It worked better than I expected and my hair felt wonderfully soft and was incredibly straight. I did add the product, blow dryed it straight with my larger round brush, add a little more of the product evenly throught my hair a send time, then I straightened with my flat iron. Thats how I chose to do it bec ause its the only process Ive has work on my Hermione Granger 1st year type of hair. I do not recommend this product not only did it dry my hair, but it did absolutely nothing. My hair is curly and frizzy so I was really excited to try this product unfortunately it was a pure disappointment. Thank Paul Mitchel my hair hates me more than ever. I will never use this product again, it said to put a little bit, but it did not work so I put more shocker shocker nothing happened. Bottom line is do not waste your money on a product that does nothing and the cheery on top breaks my hair and dries it out. Do not tell me I did not warn you.Maybae

Yes yes and yes. I’m a little hair boujie and only use salon products on my hair. I use olaplex whole line for pre wash, washing, conditioning and leave in, and a small amount of this Oribe cream with all of my products is *chefs kiss* The scent, AMAZING, The product.. aaaaaaamazing. It makes a noticeable difference when blow drying my hair, especially if I’m giving myself a blow out. It truly does speed up the process and I do feel that my hair is more protected with it. Love! I will also note that it has lasted me over a year. Granted I only blow dry my hair here and there, I do use an appropriate amount of product and have thick long hair. First of all this cream smells very nice. I don’t know if this just isn’t a fit for my hair type but it’s really kind of sticky and doesn’t give me much silky or sleekness. My hair is fine and naturally curly, also chemically treated and frizz prone. This kind of made my hair feel sticky and tangly and not silky at all when I blew it out, and I definitely got frizz later when I went out in the humidity. I like other Oribe products but this didn’t work for me or my hair. For the price I was really hoping it would be a knock out but I’ll go back to my other tried and true favorites 1) Olaplex #6 and 2) Kerastase Discipline smoothing cream. I finally gave up just looking at this and finally ordered without any expectations even reading the excellent reviews. I been using kerastase discipline for years and happy with it as it kept my thick curly hair straight for a week even in humidity just a few touch ups between washes. But wanted to try this because my friend swear by it and the oil as well. It is AMAZING!!!! Is very thick when put it on your hands but once you rubbed it became a cream easy to spread on the hair, the smell is citrusy to me but very light, once I put it on my damp hair I do a twist and clipped wait for maybe 20 minutes and start blow drying, just doing that my hair is soooo soft and shiny with a beautiful salon look but I do flat iron after and OMG the softness is even more and my dry/splits end just disappear! Hair looks super healthy, and no greasy at all no matter how much you use, hair looks naturally straight and very light to the touch.I’m obsessed with this cream it’s been very humid here in Canada and my hair stay the same as when I ironed. It is worth the price and is just a bit more than the discipline one so I think I will stick to this one as a get more benefits. Hope they start selling in the stores too. Great product! I have thick, coarse, frizzy, somewhat wavy hair. I shower at night let it air dry. When i wake up in the morning my hair is so frizzy. Even when I’m in a hurry just want to pull it back into a ponytail I still have to get the straightener out to smooth over my rots at my part along my face. If i apply a generous amount of this to my hair after showering while it’s wet then when i wake in the morning my roots/fly-aways are smooth don’t need straightened. It doesn’t really straighten my hair any, but does tame down some of my frizz to make my waves look better!amber.e

I literally just finished blowdrying my hair w/ Straight Guard for the first time and was already composing my review halfway through. I don't think I've ever raved about a product before, but this is AMAZING. My hair is softer, smoother, and shinier than it's been in more than a year (after some coloring mishaps). I usually use a mishmash of styling products before blowdrying–FrizzEase serum, a leave-in conditioner/moisturizer spray, a split-end healer, a straightening cream/heat protector. But this time I decided to just use the Straight Guard to see if it worked standalone, and my god, it was fantastic. I'll start at the beginning: the bottle uses a pump, which I always prefer because you can dispense a more precise amount of product. Just a little bit goes a long way; my hair is shoulder length right now, but thick, and the product itself is incredibly lightweight (something between a cream and a lotion) so it spreads easily. You can actually see a pearlescent quality in the cream, which translates to shine on my hair like I've never seen. I'm not sure if it cut drying time at all, but I actually noticed an improved straightness to my hair. SO MANY "straightening" creams/serums promise that result, but I always have to go over my hair with a flat iron after I'm done blow drying. Supposedly that's good for locking the cuticle, but putting that much more heat on your hair just never seems like a healthy move. Straight Guard eliminated that step. And did I mention my hair is shiny, soft, and smooth as all get out? So for the time saving, the fact that it takes the place of all those other products, and the sheer quality, this one is more than worth the price. I’m a huge fan of pretty much every Chi product. I’ve been using Chi straighteners since I first started straightening my hair 17 years ago, even trying many other brands and quickly going right back to Chi. I have probably 15 different Chi hair products at any given time. They’re all THAT good! Chi has just mastered hair care and styling, in my opinion. This product is no different. As I mentioned, I’ve been straightening my hair for a long time, so I’ve learned that you need good products to protect your hair from all that heat and potential damage it causes. I tried this product because I’ve tried so many others by Chi and loved them. It is a good product to help protect from the heat and damage your straightener would cause, it makes your hair super soft, and it does seem to help extend your straightened style. I, personally, have naturally straight hair, so I don’t need a whole lot of help keeping it straight. I mainly do it to iron out a few spots that get wavy (in the back underneath, on the front sides near my ears). I can’t say how it will do with someone who has naturally curly hair, but my crazy spots didn’t wave again while using this product, and these areas normally would wave up a bit, especially if it’s really humid outside. It did make my hair a little greasy the following day, more than with the straight guard spray that Chi has, but I do have oily hair. This may not be an issue if you have dryer hair. Amazing product! Was very much surprised with the end result as I was not expecting it to work so well! I last relaxed my hair 10 months ago which has done wonders for my hair as it is now thicker, longer and fuller with less breakage. I therefore refused to relax it again but have been so tempted!! So before using Texture manageability I would blow dry and use straighteners on my hair to make it silky and straight however it would not last long. Within a few hours it would become frizzy and turn back to my natural state especially at the roots. I thankfully came across this product by chance and thought I would give it a go as I was desperate and wanted to wear my own hair again (have been getting weaves the last 10 months hence the growth and thickness!). I am so glad I did!! By the way, also in the past I have had Brazilian blow drys which has damaged my hair and made it lifeless but I have been mainly dependent on relaxers over the years. After using this kit the results of my hair were just the same as they were with the keratin treatment in the salon! but a whole lot cheaper and less damaging as this claims to not use chemicals. My hair is soft, straight and definitely manageable. I am confident it will stay this way as like I mentioned, it feels very similar to the after results of the keratin treatment. I am over the moon. I can style my hair again as I did before when it was relaxed. I feel like me again!! I wish I found it sooner. I didnt use the whole bottle of the leave in (step 2) as I have fine hair and was conscious not to put too much as the instructions indicated but I must have used enough as the results are flawless!! After waiting to 20 mins and before blow drying my hair felt sticky and my curls were still tight. At this point I thought to my self this is not going to work but as soon as I started blow drying my hair it went straight instantly as if by magic, literally . Also my straighteners were only on 210 as I have fine hair and still it came out very straight but still with volume and bounce unlike with relaxer or keratin treatments. This is such a great concept for those of us who like wear our hair natural but want to switch things up. The shampoo did seem to strip my hair completely (which, I guess, is for the processing conditioner to work), and the product is not as gentle as I assumed. The conditioner did irritate my scalp a bit. I assumed I'd be able to switch back and forth between curly and straight. No. I lost a lot of curl pattern when I did my washout. Still, this is a good product idea I bet they will be improving it as they get feedback. The only thing I would suggest for other consumers is to go and check the FAQs BEFORE using this so you know what to expect. I would give another half star if more info had been on packaging and even inner labels. Wish I'd read FAQs prior to buying. For myself, I could have gotten similar results from a deep condition and flatiron treatment. Some people with more resistant hair might love the product. I applied this product as directed two days ago. My hair has not reverted. This is not a chemical process therefore results will not look like a relaxer nor feel like a relaxer. Expect heat straightened hair that will repel humidity fairly well. My hair is 2b/3b/3c and chemical free. My hair straightens with minimal heat but absorbs moisture then becomes a ball of fluff. I really want to leave this review for the curly hair girls that struggle like me. I have coarse thin hair. I don't have a nice curl. My hair will look very curly and semi decent when wet and as it dries it just poofs up… some places look curly others just odd, basically a big ol mess. I've been straightening my hair for years. I've tried every drug store product there is and more than a handful of the pricier brands. NONE of the products I've used have left my hair this nice and straight. Most just weigh it down and it never really looks Nice. My hair is always left looking pretty damaged and weighed down by products. I've only used aveda smooth infusion twice and have noticed a world of difference. My hair feels smooth, very straight and not greasy or heavy whatsoever. I am so happy I purchased this product. I used the smooth infusion style prep with it and now I will be purchasing the entire line. I hope they never stop making this! I was expecting different results based on how much I love Style Prep and Glossing Straightener. This product definitely has a residue factor that I don't like. Strangely, it also makes my hair more "poofy" as I blow dry it. Having said that, I experimented and got better results over time. Here's what worked best for me: I applied only to the waviest areas of my hair, which for me are the underneath layers. I also used smaller amounts each time I applied it, so it took longer to see the results I was looking for. It did help straighten, however. It smells nice but for me doesn't do that much. I like this brand though. This product is definitely a balm as in it does not help shape your hair. It does help to smooth frizz but if your hair gets wavy and frizzy in humidity like mine does, this product does not have much impact. I will use it up though. All my broken ends were laying down flat and nothing was heavy or greasy like my hair usually is with this type of product. Then I went to sleep (because I'm a night showerer) and woke up the next morning with still silky hair and merely a few kinks here and there that ironed out in 90 seconds. I was late for work because I couldn't stop looking at my hair. I don't know what sorcery this stuff is BUT I'LL TAKE IT ALL!HJ

I applied this product on my damp hair generously. It felt like a thick sticky cream while applying, and I was nervous that it was going to make my hair sticky and dry or crisp. I applied a generous amount to 4 sections of hair (about the size of a quarder from root to tip). After blow drying with a round coarse brush I was able to have straight hair that looked amazing and it felt smooth. I thought it looked exceptionally straight for the most part and I skipped hot ironing it flat because I thought doing so would eliminate the body that I had already going on with the round brush. It is now day 2 since using this product and wow… Normally my hair is a tangled mess because of all the bleaching. My hair looks AMAZING! It practically looks healthy looking, even though it is not. Excellent! Used in conjunction with the Lazer Straight Shampoo this Conditioner leaves my hair so soft and smooth. I feel like I've given my hair a deep treatment every time I wash my hair. I have very fine hair that is highlighted. After washing my hair with Boosta shampoo and conditioner, I spritz this on. Great results with volume and beachy waves that hold. Docked a star because the smell is a bit strong on the harsher side – almost like pickles! It doesn't seem to make my hair smell but it's a bit rough when it is sprayed. I was excited to find this product through Walmart, until it arrived. When purchased from a salon, the product is creamy white in color and smells like vanilla cupcakes. I went in to buy this and my normal product as a back up just in case this didn't work out…it's happened plenty of times before…needless to say, the back up is going back and AG Hair Smooth Set is now a must! It goes on light, I can put on as much as needed, which isn't much, and not worry if I put on a little too much by accident, and my hair won't be greasy, or weighed down. It's light and smooth and goes great with my hair products that I use. I would rate this product sleightly on par with Aveda Smooth Infusion. Both straighten my hair fairly well. Goldwell Straight Style has a bit more conditioning, which is sometimes necessary, depending on the weather. Be cautious and use it sparingly until you see how your hair reacts to it.jennfurr5

I love all Goldwell products. Nothing compares to them. I have long hair and people are often complimenting me about the silk texture of my hair. Believe me , it is NOT my hair! It is Goldwell! I live in Houston and the humidity is uncontrollable but this product takes the frizz out and makes it manageable to style. I wash my hair and put on my makeup which gives my hair ten minutes to of air drying time. I then towel dry quickly and rub this product in my fingertips. I then apply to mainly the ends of my hair and pat my fingers through the rest of my hair. I then use a large tooth comb and comb through before immediately blow drying my hair. Voila! A product I never want to be without so i buy two or three at a time. If you want luxurious hair, use Goldwell! My only complaint is that ULTRa can never seem to keep enough of all their pro cuts on the shelves. I would also like them to carry the small bottle serums that you pour on your hair after shampooing. they are around six dollars but ULTRA never has them. I buy them a dozen at a time when I am in New York and use one once a month! Ulta please carry them!older but wiser

I have thick, wavy, course hair and I fight horrible frizz on a daily basis. I thought I had tried every product available to keep my hair nice and sleek after blow drying and straightening with flat iron. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I will never use a different product again. It fights my frizz all day even when it's horrible humid out. It is the only thing that has worked all day long for me. My hair is still pretty frizzy after applying it and blow drying but after running a flat iron through it I'm amazed at how smooth and soft it is! Definitely worth the money! I also bought the Goldwell Thermal Spray Serum but I don't need it. The Straightening Balm is enough to make my hair nice and smooth. The only thing I have to say that isn't the best is the fragrance is a little strong. Its not a bad smell just a little overpowering. Other than that I love this product!tmd

Love this product, it smells amazing! Really does help when using it prior to heat styling. Helps straighten hair and reduces drying time. Will continue to use and can't recommend this enough for those with wavy/curly hair who straighten everyday.skye.s

I have very curly hair and have tried virtually every straightening product. My hairstylist introduced me to this product and it works really well. doesn't weigh down the hair while keeping it silky smooth. I think it works just as well as Color Wow Dream Coat spray.Anonymous

I purchased this to deal with my frizzy coarse hair that has been misbehaving badly with all the wet weather in Sydney. The product claims that the styling effect will last up to 3 days or until the next wash. The instructions say to use on damp or wet hair so I use it while drying my hair after a wash. It is heat-activated, so you need a hair dryer, and preferably finish with a flat iron. On my thick long hair I need about 15-20 sprays and comb through. The product does assist with heat protection and styling, and my hair does look smooth and straight as it usually does after using a flat iron. Unfortunately the effects did not even last after one sleep on me – the next day my hair was frizzy again. Maybe it works better on other hair types.Fiona C.

Based on her high recommendation I bought Frizz Ease Flat Iron Spray for my course long hair. It smells amazing, my hair feels like silk after its straightened and it lasts the distance.
