20 Best Products For Over Processed Hair (Jan 2023 Update)

To preface. I'm a 25 female. Natural light brown hair, bleached low maintenance blonde. Thick wavy frizzy hair that reaches the lower bottom of my back. Prone to split ends and breakage at the bottom of my hair. No extensions. I wanted to add this so people with similar hair types can relate. So to start, I'm so torn on this shampoo… I tried it for 3 weeks and I do like that this shampoo and conditioner cuts down on my overall frizz and made my hair so much smoother and less likely to tangle which is exactly what I was looking for. BUT there is some things about this shampoo I just can't ignore. First off the smell, I just can't get past it. It reminds me of a menthol cigarette. It just smells sooo minty and lingers after washing. Some people may not mind the smell but if my shampoo is going to linger, I'd prefer it to smell like something other than strong mint and almost a tea tree smell. Second, when the conditioner sets for a couple minutes before rinsing out I've noticed that my back and neck where the product has been laying in my hair will get very cold and tingly. Almost like how when you have a breath mint you get the same effect in your mouth but it's on your body this time. This alone made me decide not to repurchase. I like my shower water very warm and I found myself constantly turning the heat up because while the conditioner set I would get extremely cold from the tingly feeling. It can be overwhelming sometimes and linger even after washing the area thoroughly and drying off. I would assume if this was a shampoo and conditioner without the minty smell that I was having an allergic reaction to it but since it has that smell I just really don't know if the tingle is intended or not. And lastly, I've noticed a lot of small breakage at the top of my hair by my scalp. I'm not prone to breakage that high and only notice it after a fresh bleach every once and a while although it is usually very rare for me. I should note that it has been 3 months since my last bleach since I am a low maintenance blonde and I was not using this product during my last bleach. I also take a lot measures to protect my hair that could be the cause of breakage that high. So at this point only thing I've changed is this shampoo and conditioner. I've decided not to finish the rest of the bottle due to concerns about further breakage. This is just my experience. Some people seem to love it but it's a no from me. I hope this helps some people on the fence after reading conflicting reviews. I've switched to Joyco kpac reconstructing shampoo that has also given me the same desirable results so far with a much better smell, no breakage, and most importantly no tingly feeling on by skin.Lexi

I saw the hair loss reviews but if the hair is coming out at the follicle then that is definitely health related not from a shampoo. Shampoo cannot cause hair loss unless maybe a severe reaction to the scalp and there's swelling and for whatever reason the follicle comes out with it but that is highly unlikely. But anyways back to my review lol this is the most hydrating gentle shampoo I've ever used it's perfect! It cleans my hair and makes my scalp feel so refreshed but my hair is detangled and moisturized! And the conditioner is so creamy and moisturizing! The scents for both are so relaxing to me and my hair and scalp are taken care of with this set of shampoo and conditioner. my hair is so soft, shiny and perfectly moisturized. Definitely for medium to thick hair types unless you have finer very porous hair then I think you'd like it. Definitely one I can rely on and will repurchase but I already got the liters so guess I'll be repurchasing after that lolHairlover

I have naturally curly unruly coloured treated for decades hair that I use hairdryer & straighteners on. I further abuse my hair by swimming outdoors a lot over tge summer in the sunshine. I was a big Aveda Smooth Infusion fan until I finally listened to my Tony & Guy hairdresser & started using these Olaplex products to repair my badly treated hair & maintain the colour. I am now an Olaplex convert. My hair condition instantly improved after one wash, it smooths my hair better than Aveda Smooth Infusion. It is more concentrated that the Aveda Smooth Infusion so a 250ml bottle of Olaplex lasts much, much longer than the Aveda Smooth Infusion. I have just returned from a week swimming for hours everyday in Greece. Chlorine, sunshine, colour treated unruly hair, hairdryer & straighteners everynight = hair abuse I know. I used Olaplex everynight. I returned with my hair in good condition, the colours maintained & I brought most of the 250ml bottles back of each product. I bought this for my wife and she use this with the No 0, No 3, and the No 5. I must say the combo of these together is amazing. Her hair was pretty much destroyed frome excessive styling, blow drying and box dyes. We could totally tell a difference after just one use of these products together. Her hair looks healthier, has more shine and manageability, doesn't look as damaged, she isn't yanking out knots when she wakes up and brushes her hair plus it just feels so soft and looks smooth not frizzy. It seems like the texture, strength, and even the way her hair is laying is totally changing. The smells not over powering which is something we both love because sometimes hair fragrances clash with perfumes but not Olaplex it's perfectly balanced. The bottles aren't the biggest which was kind of a let down but you don't need near as much as other shampoos so it seems like it will last just as long as a big bottle of regular shampoo. It lathers and rinses out amazingly! The pure magic that comes out of those bottles can't be beat and it's so worth it! The duo of the conditioner, shampoo and other products used together can't be matched or beat! Her hair and her self imaging is healing and getting better after each use. Thank you Olaplex for giving my wife control of her hair and confidence back. We can't wait to see what happens after extended use. I’ve been having issues with thinning and breakage for a couple of years now and it really does seem like I’ve tried almost everything. I kept my expectations low but since a lot of friends have used and liked Olaplex I decided that it would be worth it to try and so far it has been. Obviously it can’t cure thinning due to stress/genetics but the texture of my hair has approved tenfold since I started using the No 0, 3,4,and5. Since my hair is quite fine and thin I use the bond building treatment and hair perfecter 1-2 times a week for the past month. Honestly I am stunned at the results. Since it’s not a permanent fix but a treatment, you do have to continue using it. I did read somewhere that there’s no way for it to permanently fix your already damaged hair but it can definitely treat it while the damage grows out. It doesn’t weigh my hair down, there’s no apparent residue, and it felt healthier and looked healthier after only the first try and has consistently improved since. I’ve tried so many products that just seem to sit on top of my hair and reflect light instead of actually improving anything texturally. I was also stunned at the quality of the product, not just in effect but a little really does go a long way in each one of my products. It smells and feels amazing. I could clearly go on. Long 1B hair that's never been treated. I've used the shampoo and conditioner together for about 6 months now, and my hair has been shedding for the past three weeks. The shampoo helped my hair feel soft in the first few months of use, which is why I then got the conditioner to match, but now I've had like 10ish hairs come off my wide tooth comb every time I wash and gently comb the ends of my wet hair to apply conditioner–more will come out when I brush my hair later in the day. I think the All Soft system may work for some people but this has just damaged my hair over the long run. And I have to admit that I don't see the same results as when I first started using. I really wanted to like this, and had high hopes due to good reviews, but it just isn't working for me. I wash my hair every 2-4 days and have a normal to oily scalp. Once I started using this shampoo and conditioner, I started getting bad dandruff. I thought maybe I just needed time to get use to the product, but the dandruff got worse with continued use. I'll run my hands through my hair and dandruff will literally coat my shirt. I also didn't notice any change in my hair feeling softer or less frizzy. Its disappointing because it smells good and the conditioner feels rich. My hair also smells great after using this. My scalp just doesn't like it. I don't have sensitive skin and I've use a wide range of hair products throughout the years, from drug store to name brand, so this experience was shocking and unusual for me.Marz

Used this product for about a year. Absolutely loved the smell and the consistency of both shampoo and conditioner, made my hair few clean, all around enjoyed it. I have fine, thin, mostly straight hair. But every time I showered, small clumps of my hair would come out. I honestly just thought I was shedding and didn't think much of it but have noticed a fair amount of hair loss compared to when I started using it. Decided to look at reviews before reordering and noticed similar complaints. Switched to another shampoo and lost only a couple of strands. Olaplex hair care is turning my hair goals into success. I struggled with my hair care up until now. I saw my friend using it and I immediately wanted to try it because it made her hair look so nice and healthy. I use their shampoos and conditioners, their bonding oil, and their hair mask. They have numbers for certain hair goals and it didn't take me long to find the right one for me. On the website they have description on their products and what numbers do the best for you. This can lead you do find the type of hair care your hair needs. I'm a bright blonde so it is tricky to find the right products to keep that color. Olaplex doesn't make my color last any less. So for people who have colored hair and worry about it this is for you. Before the using this line my hair color only lasted about 3 weeks. This is such a fast fade. After using the products my hair has kept up with the color and had lasted longer than 3 weeks. I consistently use their purple shampoo once a week.Other shampoos and conditioners fade my bright blonde hair. This was so frustrating because then I would have to go back for so many more appointments then I needed. Olaplex keeps my hair bright blonde and maintains it. Although they are expensive and come in medium sized bottles I think they are still worth it. The shampoo and conditioner are 30 dollars each. This isn't so bad because you get away with using just little blobs that goes a long way. The shampoo is number 4 and the conditioner is number 5. The next product I use is the number 8 bond intense moisture mask. This mask sits in my damp hair for 10 mins. After that I go back in with my shampoo and conditioner. This makes my hair styleable and has more body. This keeps my hair shiny, smooth, and healthy. This product is also 30 dollars. I think this price might be a little much because it comes in a smaller bottle. But in the end process it is giving you what you are looking for. I usually use this hair mask once a week. I try to use it at the beginning of the week to get it prepped for the week full of styling. The next product I use is the bonding oil. This product is made for dry or wet hair. It is a heat protectant, detangler, enhances shine, and reduces frizz. For me this product met all the criteria. The bonding oil number is 7. The smell of this product is great. I mainly use this product when I get out of the shower to help detangle my hair and keep the frizz away for the morning. This keeps me waking up with my hair staying shiny. I also use it when I'm about to style my hair when it is dry. I only put it on my ends and then I continue to style my hair and apply heat. Now this product is also 30 dollars. I think this one is way overpriced because it is a super tiny container. Especially if you use it every single night. My hair before has been rough. Split ends after split ends, dry hair, and washing it constantly. My hair has always had terrible split ends and it was so hard for me to figure out why. After trying so many different products I finally feel like I found what helps me the most. Since I get my hair dyed and style it so often it does go through a lot of damage. Continuing sports as well makes it hard for me to not wash it as much so it doesn't get as dry. Bur after finding what I needed this is perfect. But overall I think the brand is perfect for people who need this type of hair care. It is also great because their line is made for every hair type, it just depends on the condition of your hair.madison

I am genuinely shocked at the feel of my hair after using this product twice. I have medium waves, medium porosity, color treated hair that I use a lot of heat on to straighten. I had been dying it a very dark brown for years and decided to go lighter, on the reddish side so the condition of my hair wasn’t great after all of the processing and heat damage. I tried this mask and didn’t really have huge hopes as I have used so many masks and repair products. After the first try, I blew out my hair and straightened it. It looked like glass it was so smooth and shiny. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I tried it a week later and got the same results. This is a really pricey product but I will be continuing to use it in the future. A little goes a long way to be honest and the fragrance is wonderful. I have coarse virgin Asian hair that is dry and greasy at the same time. It's terrible! I've used a lot of different salon brands and pharmacy brands trying to figure out what works. I never thought to try the high end hair products but am glad I did. The shampoo is amazing! It has sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) so it lathers well. My porous strands are like a sponge so I need this to clean. A little shampoo goes a long, too. It has a beautiful, luxurious floral scent but it leans musky so it smells mature (older woman scent) than fresh. Fortunately, the scent doesn't linger. It fades quickly. I'm not a fan of the mask being in a jar. It looks fancy but not practical at all for conditioner. And, it seems very pricey for hair products (maybe I'm cheap but I'm literally washing this down the drain) so I'd give the travel size kit a try first! *I received this product as promo item but my reviews are my own.*MNP1

This is a great masque to let your hair marinate in for 15-20 minutes before shampooing. The masque is thick and creamy, applies with ease from root to end. Beautiful salon smell, not irritating at all, gorgeous subtle scent. Penetrates extremely well in my low porosity hair. Helped me to reduce fallout of my hair in the week afterwards. Due to the inclusion of proteins, do not overuse this, use max once per week to avoid over-proteinating your hair. The saturation of this masque helped me get a lush and thick feeling in my hair and helped to plump it up and smooth it over where it is usually rough, coarse, tangly and very split-endy. Words cannot describe how much I love my hair now that I’ve started using this shampoo! Even before I started getting my hair dyed, I had to wash my hair every single day, sometimes twice a day, because it was SO OILY! My hair looked flat, thin, and oily. I eventually got tired of washing it so much that I just put my hair up all the time with a thick headband to hide the oil. Then I saw a girl I know try this shampoo, and she said she would never use another shampoo again. I could see the difference in her hair just by her instagram pictures though, so I gave the shampoo a try. I am so thankful I did because I feel confident and comfortable with my hair now, and I get SO many compliments on it. I actually can go a solid 3 days without washing it now, and it still has body too. That is mind blowing for someone who has tried so many different shampoos for “oily and flat hair.” This shampoo is really the solution though. I will never buy anything else! I could go on and on about how much I love this shampoo but I just want to make one other point. I used to have to get my hair dyed with permanent hair color at the salon every single month because of how often I washed my hair and how the shampoos were “color” safe but really were not. I was about to type, "Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but…" But that's nonsense. I've been washing my own hair for over 50 years, so I am confident that's not the problem. Having said that? I am not getting good results from the Embody shampoo and conditioner. My hair is thin, fine, straight, shoulder length, and never, ever heat-styled. As I've been doing for decades, I start cleansing at the scalp first, then work down the hair shaft, and start conditioner on the ends first, then work it UP the hair shaft. Every time with Embody, I'm left with hair that is flat and quickly greasy at the scalp, and dried out and stringy at the ends. It's a strange mix of results to say the least, like nothing I've ever experienced (if a product backfires on me, it's usually one or the other)! On the plus side, both products are a pleasant sensorial experience to use. The liquid textures are great, the shampoo lather feels silky, the conditioner does detangle well, and the scent is heavenly! That's why I'm giving the line two stars. I will use up the bottles because I have them now, and returns are more of a hassle than I feel like dealing with. I can (sort of) fix the issues I'm left with by bringing in a little dry shampoo at the roots, and some leave-in product I already have for the dry ends. It's not like I have to wear a paper bag over my head to leave the house. But I shouldn't have to "fix" anything after using products like this that are on the spendy side, and billed to be more of a high-end experience. Jonathan, I adore you madly and always will! I know that's a bold claim to make, but this shampoo (and the accompanying conditioner) have actually changed my lifestyle. I have long and fine hair: enough of it to knot really badly but not enough to provide any volume at all. I have tried pretty much every product on the market for fine hair: shampoos, serums, dry shampoos, powders etc. at many price points, and I have never found anything that would provide more than a few hours worth of lift/volume. I've had to wash my hair every day because second day hair has always looked really limp and flat, and occasionally greasy even if I've not had any product in it. I know that washing your hair every day isn't great and often not practical but it was either that or be happy with a drowned rat in a chip pan look. When you use the shampoo it doesn't lather up much and it doesn't feel very hydrating in the shower either, if anything it feels like it might be drying your hair. Despite that I have no issues combing it afterwards and even without using a hairdryer I get thicker looking, volumised hair that lasts not just for one day but for two, in fact my hair looks just as good on day 2 as it did on day 1. So when I say it's life changing it really is – I no longer have to wash my hair every day, I don't have to use a hairdryer every day either saving time, water and money. I use two pumps of the shampoo every other day and I still have product left in the bottle from starting use at the end of April. I couldn't recommend it more highly. I've bought some for my mum (from whom I inherited my hair thickness) who is also really impressed. It may seem a bit expensive as an initial outlay but I think I'm going to get 4 months of washes from one bottle so will definitely work out cheaper than a high street shampoo.Canary

my daughter recommended this shampoo along with the conditioner. I was surprisingly disappointed. I of course thought right away that it would be effective based on the cost. Not at all, for starters I felt it made my hair more tangled and hard to manage which concerned me cause I already have course hair and figured how am I going to get out of this tangled mess. The conditioner didn't even help a bit and need I mention that when I tried to style my hair it was never ending. By the time I finished styling and drying my hair, my hair was so dried and brittle and even more course that when I started ugh!!! I learned that cost doesn't mean efficiency at all. I was completely surprised that this didn't do for me what all the reviews I read said it would. I understand everyone's hair is different but I read so many reviews raving about this that I had no doubt that this was going to be the best shampoo I'd ever tried. Boy was I wrong… The first issue I had with this was that it didn't latter do a degree that I am used to. I thought I was going to be able to work around this but without the latter I really didn't feel as though it was cleaning my hair. I started with one pump but that really only washed the top of my head- barely. Another pump for my hair (mid back length, curly) which lathered even less on the strands then my scalp. Using two pumps – sometimes three- really doesn't bode well for the life of the product. With that said problem two arose; this barely lasted a month and a half using it every other day. At 24$ a bottle it really isn't realistic for me to keep purchasing when I was having no results and basically dumping it down the drain. Results were really nonexistent, my hair was still frizzy and ultimately more dry than before I started using it. There was no real change in texture in the month I used it. There was no problem for me with the smell like some people had, it just smelled like salon shampoo. Unfortunately I will not be purchasing this again, however I wouldn't tell people to stay away as so many reviewers said that it did wonders for them so I imagine I'm just an off case. I love how hydrating and moisturizing this conditioner is. I have seen an improvement in breakage on my ends and hair being left behind around my hair ties and in the tub. My hair both looks and feels healthier. I love that the ingredients are clean, vegan, gluten free, and cruelty free. This also has a really nice scent. It kind of smells like cranberry juice! I like that a little goes a long way and quickly detangles my hair in the shower. So I bought this product because I'm trying to get rid of plastic in my bathroom and this is the only brand I found under the Clean Beauty filter. I really wanted it to work but the condition is really just ok. I have medium hair that I get colored blonde twice a year. It breaks easily so I look for repairing/hydrating hair products. This doesn't have much of a fragrance which is fine with me, but it also does basically nothing for my hair. I received the Pureology Hydrate Sheer products from Influenster for review purposes and have been using the shampoo & conditioner combo for the past 2.5-3 weeks to give it a fair chance prior to reviewing. For reference I have fine, wavy hair that has considerable damage and split-ends from bleaching my hair every 3 months as well as pretty regular use of hot tools/blowdryer. Therefore, I'm in desperate need of hydrating/repairing products that also don't weigh down my fine hair. As for the Hydrate Sheer Shampoo, it's a decent shampoo and gets the job done. A little bit goes a long way, it lathers very nicely and it rinses out easily. My hair is admittedly softer and hydrated after using the shampoo/conditioner pair together – however, I do NOT think this shampoo outperforms my regular favorite shampoos/conditioners from other high end brands – and at this price point I really do expect a higher quality product or at least a more noticable change after nearly 3 weeks of continued use. I wasn't a huge fan of the scent at first, but it did grow on me over time and now I quite enjoy the fragrance. Overall, it's a nice shampoo and I will continue to use the rest of the bottle, but I would not repurchase products from this line as I feel there are better performing shampoos out there for damaged hair at a more affordable price point.JillLo

I have been on a hair journey these past couple of years, including currently growing out my silvers. With this in mind, I expect my non-dyed hair to react differently to shampoos as it grows out more and more, but I have a ways to go still so this review is largely focusing on colored hair. I’ve tried different shampoos in the Pureology line before, and this one feels fairly par for the course. It does not have that endothermic minty coolness of other Pureology products, but it does leave my hair feeling clean. Some people have mentioned it made their hair feel immediately more brittle, but I didn’t notice that. Please note: This is a clarifying shampoo, so perhaps people mistook the removal of product build-up (and the damage that build-up causes) as the shampoo ‘causing brittleness.’ I did immediately follow with conditioner, and then utilized my typical post-wash oils/thermal protection products. My hair feels nice and I do notice nice volume for a couple of days. It’s not a miracle worker, obviously, it’s just a shampoo. You’re not going to get 80s hair from just a shampoo. I only wash my hair every two weeks, and this shampoo/conditioner line didn’t cause excess oil production that would make me need to wash more often, so that is a plus in my book. All this being said, I will likely keep this in rotation with my Olaplex, Oribe, Ouai, and Briogeo products.debra.r

I love the fact that this product is vegan and cruelty free, although it is owned by parent company L'Oreal that does test on animals. The packaging is supposedly made of 95% recycled plastic. Because I was aware of the claims that it contains menthol and burns some people's scalp, I tried my best to follow others' advice and put it mostly on the ends of my hair rather than rubbing it into the scalp. It definitely has a strong mint smell and I still felt a prominent cooling sensation after a few moments even though I avoided putting it on my scalp. The strong menthol combined with hot shower steam stung my eyes a bit so I can't even imagine what it would be like accidentally getting this in your eyes. I wasn't a huge fan of my hair smelling like mint while wet after the shower but the smell faded when my hair dried. After using both the shampoo and conditioner, my hair felt softer and shiny but not dramatically different than when I use drugstore products. I noticed some improvement in my hair's frizziness. Just like with the shampoo, I find this bottle difficult to open. I don't think I would personally purchase this product. But if you're a fan of mint-scented hair products, don't mind spending more money and would prefer a refreshing/revitalizing conditioner, then it might be for you.karolina .k

Shampoo looks pretty peachy pink and smells delicious. The smell is not overpowering and does not linger long. The shampoo lathers pretty well so I need less product than most of the drugstore shampoos. Which makes me happy as it makes it worth the price. This 266ml bottle lasted me almost 6 months. Shampoo is clarifying and is supposed to remove product buildup which it does perfectly. It reduced my hair breakage and my hair felt less frizzy. But I found the shampoo to be a little too strong for my sensitive scalp. Specially in winters it gave me dry flakes and aggravated the dandruff. Although in warmer months I did not face this issue. So I would not recommend it for dry and sensitive scalp. But it can be really good for oily scalp and warmer months.anubhuti.t

Yes, the price might seem high, however, you must consider that the shampoo is so highly formulated that one bottle allows for over 75+ shampoos … that’s right, 75+! This shampoo (and damage remedy conditioner) are my ultimate favourite hair products. I have thicker coloured long hair and it consistently works better than others I try that claim to do the same thing. Other reviews state disappointment in all the original Aveda Shampoo lines being discontinued and I couldn't agree more. If the Damage remedy line is removed I will have no choice but to find another brand as all my other favourites are gone and the replacements are not cutting it. My wife and I both really love / like (respectively) the Damage Remedy shampoo. It leaves hair feeling clean but not stripped, and "soft" and silky without feeling like it's lacking in body. She has blonde hair and mine is very dark brown to almost black, and there's some grey/white/silver in there too….and this shampoo is great on both hair types. Impressive! So, why Four Stars? At some point, with the noticeable increase in price, one has to ask when does it not make sense, especially for a shampoo that isn't meant to be 'regular use' unless one has hair that is in very sorry condition? I would recommend for sure, but now with a caution that it is a fairly expensive luxury.SMILEY

I am sadly not getting on with this shampoo at all. There is no lather when I use a normal amount, so my hair doesn't feel clean. Always have to wash it twice and use more shampoo than I would with other products. My hair is then fine for about 12 hrs, but starts to look greasy after that, so have to repeat the next morning. Not a cheap product and I will be through this bottle in about a month which seriously pains me. Was hoping it would last longer and work better for that price.Lisa

I like how my hair feels and the conditioner feels light and creamy. The smell is good. I think I’m seeing fewer flyaways and less frizz. Maybe it is actually strengthening my hair, but I’ve also been using a mini bottle of that 30 benefits leave-in spray-which I’m out of as of today. do notice my hair looking a bit greasy after just a day, but it is blonde-not color treated, and shows grease lines easily, especially since I’m back at work as a teacher spending much less time outside and there’s less sun now that it’s fall-and I’m down to a sulfate shampoo since ai didn’t receive the shampoo but I haven’t received the shampoo yet even though I ordered the duo. I want to try them all before investing in any liter bottles. Years back, my sister had me try her Nano Works in a light green bottle, and it was amazing, but that type is no longer made, and the Nano Gold is even more expensive than the others and not the same. I think this may be awesome-just the scent isn’t my favorite, but it’s really nice and so much better than anything else I have. This stuff is AMAZING. It saved my hair after some salon bleach trauma. My new stylist recommended it and I'm ready to purchase another shampoo conditioner set. My hair felt healthier after a single use – softer, smoother, more manageable, and more defined waves from the hydration and gentle protein. It smells delightful and makes me actually look forward to washing my hair. The shampoo gets a good lather and a little goes a long way. I follow it with which also goes a long way. I can’t believe this doesn’t have reviews! First off: SAVE the bottle. They sell big refill bags. My pictures are just to show length, they’re screen caps from a video which I didn’t want to post because 99% of what I listen to has bad words. Anyway, the wind was blowing so it was pretty beat up in the pics. You get the idea, though. Unlike the shampoo, you don’t need much of this conditioner. It’s like the Tatcha or Juice moisturizer equivalents of conditioner; a little really does go a long way. This is the first brand where I’ll run out of shampoo before conditioner, so that’s new. I think I just need to figure out the shampoo application better since it doesn’t produce that lather we’ve been fooled into thinking I’d good for our hair. Never did I think I’d say that I noticed results after 2 uses, but here we are. This stuff is great. Given the obvious color of my hair and it being hot out, toning is a frequent chore for me to keep my hair from getting brassy. Purple hair products are SO drying (excluding Bold Uniq…or maybe it’s Blond Uniq, idk its $35 on Amazon and I have mixed feelings about it but it is the best non-damaging item out there). I needed moisture and repair, so I went for this combo after reading the (paid customer) reviews for just about every shampoo conditioner they have. It’s $24 for each at Sephora. I think that’s a very fair price for the size and quality. Plus, it smells amazing and the bottles are really cute. Depending on your specific needs, I’d still recommend this brand and then choosing your shampoo conditioner based off of which issue they address. I got highlights in my hair in May and since then, my hair has been the driest it's ever been. I had tried so many different masks, shampoos, conditioners and nothing was working. I would get out of the shower and my hair would be in knots so bad that if I tried to brush it, my brush would get stuck and if I tried to pull, I would loose dozens of strands of hair in one tug. My hair had never been like that and I was panicking. I knew that highlights required maintenance but it wasn't until nexxus that I found a combo that worked for me. I was hesitant to use this shampoo after smelling it, but the reviews are amazing. My hair wasn't damaged, but I could use the extra healthy moisture from this shampoo. After my first use, I noticed my hair felt dryer and almost crispy. I had just colored my hair the day before, so I figured it was that. I used it again 2 days later and it was worse, I now have split ends. I'm working on growing my hair out after damaging and buzzing it off a year ago, so I do not want to have to trim it. I'm using tons of split end mending products now to fix what this shampoo did. Maybe it's too strong for my hair? I had high expectations for this line of haircare by living proof and they sure delivered! This shampoo is amazing at clarifying and defrizzing my hair. I only use the shampoo on the top portion of my hair to prevent any drying of the my ends. I noticed after using it my flyaways were significantly less frizzy. I have wavy color treated hair so my hair is extremely damaged and always frizzy right after the shower. Using this line has changed the game my hair looks like I just got it washed at the salon after the shower and blow drying. This product had generally good reviews so I decided to give it a try because I liked the scent of it and the promise of healthy hair. What I discovered instead was after several weeks, my hair became more and more brittle, tangled and fell out more. My scalp became unbearably itchy and flaky, not minor dander, seriously huge flakes all over my scalp. I do not bleach or process my hair and rarely use heat tools. As soon as I changed to another product (not a dandruff product) in one wash it was a tremendous relief. No more dry itchy scalp and hopefully my hair recovers from all the breakage and fall out. I have fine, straight, color treated, aging hair. I was looking for a shampoo/conditioner for aging hair since I have noticed that my hair has become more fragile and prone to breakage as I've gotten older. This came up on a few "best shampoo" lists when I did a search related to my issues. I'll start with the scent. Definitely not very pleasant. Someone described it as peppery. To me, it smells like bug spray covered up with perfume. The only reason I decided to keep using it is that the smell does fade after blow drying. Next, and most importantly, I've used this for about 5 weeks and have seen no noticeable improvement as far as strengthening/smoothing my hair goes. Like others experienced, my hair was also more tangled after using and you have to use a lot to get a good lather. Last, considering the high price, they really stiff you on the quantity. Words cannot describe how much I love my hair now that I’ve started using this shampoo! Even before I started getting my hair dyed, I had to wash my hair every single day, sometimes twice a day, because it was SO OILY! My hair looked flat, thin, and oily. I eventually got tired of washing it so much that I just put my hair up all the time with a thick headband to hide the oil. Then I saw a girl I know try this shampoo, and she said she would never use another shampoo again. I could see the difference in her hair just by her instagram pictures though, so I gave the shampoo a try. I am so thankful I did because I feel confident and comfortable with my hair now, and I get SO many compliments on it. I actually can go a solid 3 days without washing it now, and it still has body too. That is mind blowing for someone who has tried so many different shampoos for “oily and flat hair.” This shampoo is really the solution though. I will never buy anything else! I could go on and on about how much I love this shampoo but I just want to make one other point. I used to have to get my hair dyed with permanent hair color at the salon every single month because of how often I washed my hair and how the shampoos were “color” safe but really were not. I was about to type, "Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but…" But that's nonsense. I've been washing my own hair for over 50 years, so I am confident that's not the problem. Having said that? I am not getting good results from the Embody shampoo and conditioner. My hair is thin, fine, straight, shoulder length, and never, ever heat-styled. As I've been doing for decades, I start cleansing at the scalp first, then work down the hair shaft, and start conditioner on the ends first, then work it UP the hair shaft. Every time with Embody, I'm left with hair that is flat and quickly greasy at the scalp, and dried out and stringy at the ends. It's a strange mix of results to say the least, like nothing I've ever experienced (if a product backfires on me, it's usually one or the other)! On the plus side, both products are a pleasant sensorial experience to use. The liquid textures are great, the shampoo lather feels silky, the conditioner does detangle well, and the scent is heavenly! That's why I'm giving the line two stars. I will use up the bottles because I have them now, and returns are more of a hassle than I feel like dealing with. I can (sort of) fix the issues I'm left with by bringing in a little dry shampoo at the roots, and some leave-in product I already have for the dry ends. It's not like I have to wear a paper bag over my head to leave the house. I know that's a bold claim to make, but this shampoo (and the accompanying conditioner) have actually changed my lifestyle. I have long and fine hair: enough of it to knot really badly but not enough to provide any volume at all. I have tried pretty much every product on the market for fine hair: shampoos, serums, dry shampoos, powders etc. at many price points, and I have never found anything that would provide more than a few hours worth of lift/volume. I've had to wash my hair every day because second day hair has always looked really limp and flat, and occasionally greasy even if I've not had any product in it. I know that washing your hair every day isn't great and often not practical but it was either that or be happy with a drowned rat in a chip pan look. When you use the shampoo it doesn't lather up much and it doesn't feel very hydrating in the shower either, if anything it feels like it might be drying your hair. Despite that I have no issues combing it afterwards and even without using a hairdryer I get thicker looking, volumised hair that lasts not just for one day but for two, in fact my hair looks just as good on day 2 as it did on day 1. So when I say it's life changing it really is – I no longer have to wash my hair every day, I don't have to use a hairdryer every day either saving time, water and money. I use two pumps of the shampoo every other day and I still have product left in the bottle from starting use at the end of April. I couldn't recommend it more highly. I've bought some for my mum (from whom I inherited my hair thickness) who is also really impressed. It may seem a bit expensive as an initial outlay but I think I'm going to get 4 months of washes from one bottle so will definitely work out cheaper than a high street shampoo.Canary

The Oribe hair products are seriously pure luxury and this masque is no exception! I received this product for free from Influenster in exchange for an honest review. I love that this masque is simply integrated into my normal weekly hair wash routine! After shampooing, you just use this instead of your regular conditioner which I appreciate there is no added hassle. The smell is phenomenal without being overpowering. When I use this, I find I have much less frizz – however I do find that I have to wash my hair more frequently. My normal wash schedule is once a week with Bumble and bumble Invisible Oil shampoo + conditioner; with this Oribe masque I have to wash about every 4-5 days. But overall I do really love this product. It’s definitely expensive, but a nice little luxury item to treat your hair with!sasha.w

For this price and after reading so many reviews, I guess I expected something special. True, shampoo and conditioner feel ok, like any other nice shampoo. My hair was soft but afterwards in its worst. It dried out my hair so much that it looked absolutely horrible even dough I just had hairs cut 2 weeks ago. And after only one day it looks like 3 day hair. I am so disappointed as I spent so much money and feel so stupid to believe all these influencers and other paid reviews. Please be honest when reviewing. As there is no way that this shampoo is any better then any other cheaper one. There is nothing special, not even smell is present. I don't get this hype. Before I share my thoughts on this product here is some background info: I have very fine thin hair that does not like to hold any kind of style for more than an hour. I typically use Pantene’s Sheer Volume Shampoo and conditioner for my hair and it has been doing the job. Pantene has stopped making this exact kind and I have started trying different products to see what would work best for my hair. I received a sample size of this shampoo and conditioner with a big purchase of other hair care products. It looks really pretty coming out and smells amazing. It lathers up very nicely as well. The whole time I was working it into my hair I couldn’t stop thinking of where I had smelled this before and then it hit me. This shampoo and conditioner smells very similar to the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Italian Zest perfume which smells lemony and gives off a limoncello vibe which is a huge plus to me. Another pro of this shampoo and conditioner is that it is very light weight and doesn’t weigh down my hair which for someone like me is very important. Both rinse off well and don’t seem to leave any behind in my hair. Brushing my hair out afterwards was nice and easy. I would probably use this again but not consistently.MsA2023

I was very excited to try this! I had major heart surgery on January 2, 2021, which resulted in a 20 day hospital stay. While healing I noticed my body’s chemistry completely changed assuming from the trauma of surgery. My once long, thick, fine naturally curly hair started falling out in clumps. I had to get over 15” cut off in hopes to regrow what I lost. My hair was also super dry after surgery. While my hair had been dry in the past because it is color treated, it had never been as dry as it was after surgery. I’ve always only washed my hair once a week. Also tried to stay away from too much heat, because I didn’t want to give up being blonde! I’ve used some free samples from Keratase in the past – currently loving the Resistance Blow-Dry Primer for Damaged Hair. This is the shampoo from the same line. Instantly my hair felt dry after washing while still in the shower. I thought maybe it was a fluke. A couple days after using the shampoo my hair was so dry and straw like. Again…..I thought it was a fluke. I do deep condition my hair weekly with Olaplex #0, #3, #8. I DC overnight on Saturday and wash my hair on Sundays. Followed by blow drying with my Dyson Airwrap. My hair had been feeling great and is growing back…I have so much regrowth a years worth to be exact. I haven’t highlighted my hair since August 2020, when I got my hair cut last. After the first “fluke” with this shampoo I tried again….3 times to be exact. I have narrowed down my super dry hair now is from this shampoo. I was so excited to try this, I had so many high hopes that it would work as great as the Blow-Dry Primer from the same line. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED to say the least! I splurged on this product along with the conditioner and heat protectant and I’m very impressed… I went blonde 5 years ago so overtime, bleach has made my hair bristle and I’m no longer able to air dry and go. The air dry hair is typically frizzed, no defined wave pattern, and my hair length stops at around the top of my breasts. I’ll be trying vitamins to help with the growth, but as for this product, I’ve used it twice now and I noticed the effects after the first wash (not kidding). I washed with this shampoo, conditioner, & applied heat protectant after, and my hair was soft, less frizzed, and my scalp wasn’t flakey or dry! During the winter I suffer with dry scalp and this product even tackled that which isn’t even why I bought it. On my second wash, my hair air dried nicer than usual (had some volume, slight wave development), and it wasn’t the normal ugly stringy look. I plan to continue using these products. I purchased the Bain Force Achitecte Shampoo, Conditioner, and the Ciment Thermique blow dry primer. I used nearly half the bottle and it has caused additional damage and breakage to my hair. I contacted Kerastase nearly a month ago and again last week to follow up requesting an exchange for a different product and, to date, have not received a response. At this price point, I would expect the products to have a better performance and I would certainly expect better customer service. Very disappointing.Jewels1026

I have mid-long length pretty straight hair with medium thickness. I normally use cheaper drugstore shampoo and conditioners but wanted to try something more of salon/higher quality thats supposedly better for your hair. This shampoo is okay it does work nicely but I didn't like it for a few reasons. It smells good but I feel I had to use quite a bit of it for it to lather nicely. I felt like it was thick and kind of stayed on my hair so it took a lot of the natural wave and volume of my hair out and made it much straighter and flat. I felt like my hair got greasy faster too, leading me to washing it more. It did make my hair very shiny and soft though. My hair isn't really damaged though so if you do have damaged hair that you're looking to get shiny and soft this shampoo may work nicely for you. I just didn't like the way it made my hair look and feel. Also the bottle designed is not great, it's difficult to squeeze and get the product out, especially when it starts running low. For reference, I have straight, healthy, normal amount of oil/dryness, non-colored hair that falls below my shoulders. This shampoo/conditioner combo as far as my hair is concerned is below average to begin with. My hair looks ok after I use it but not great and the conditioner leaves a gross film no matter how much I rinse. I have eczema on my hands and usually shampoos do not upset it much due to the very short duration they are in contact. This shampoo/conditioner combo however flared up my eczema immediatly and even worse, every time I would run my fingers through my hair it would fare up again because of the weird film. I had to actually take another shower and wash my hair really well with another shampoo and then I was fine. I see other reviewers have had allergic/eczema reactions as well. I do caution use of this product to those with contact allergies/sensitive skin/eczema and so on as there seems to be a rather strong irritant in this product (I would love to know what it is) I thankfully did not lose any hair and there is no lasting damage but yikes.Amanda

The first ingredient is water (which is par for the course) but the second is SLS. I only bothered to read the ingredients list having washed my hair, using both products, and being left with a very angry mess of wiry locks that felt parched and not at all comforted. I have fine colour treated hair. I was looking for a shampoo to prevent my hair colour from fading. I used this shampoo only once, together with the complimenting mask by Christophe Robin. I found the smell very strong and unpleasant. There was a tingling and slight burning sensation when using it. The shampoo left my hair very dry and unmanageable. Even after using the mask my hair was still very dry and tangled. It also made my scalp very itchy. I cannot say if this shampoo is helpful in preventing hair colour from fading but given my experience I do not recommend it at all.Shirley

This is my first time trying the brand. If it weren’t for the smell, I’d have given it 5 stars. When I poured out the shampoo for the first time, I was struck by the awful “fragrance.”. The only thing I can compare it to is super-cheap baby lotion. I really hate it. Because this is so expensive, though, I went ahead and used it and I have to say even when I was rinsing, I could feel a difference in my hair. I have fine hair and this really gets it clean, doesn’t weigh it down and doesn’t strip my color.
