20 Best Products For Short Hair Texture (Feb 2023 Update)

I have been approached by women complimenting me on my hair after using this. My hair looks healthy, just a minimal hint of shine, and great volume even though I have semi-thin hair. I'm fortunate I still have hair. By the way, my hair is long on top and tight on the sides Kind of a like a semi-skin fade. It smells great when the product is in my hair…really great. I've heard from more people that they love the smell. I see what they mean. It has a professional salon-like smell. I've been told that as well. In fact, several friends and family of mine all asked me what I was wearing that smells good, and I told them to smell my hair. They all said, "yep…that smells really clean." I don't want to compare this to other brands but I feel I would be holding back information that could help someone make a definitive decision, so here goes: I have tried Pacino's, Dove, and Clubman mostly including numerous drugstore brands. This seriously replaces all of them. Absolutely no competition…Reformer has the best smell, best hair volumizing properties, amazing shaping ability, and just a hint of shine…I mean the absolute slightest shine, while still appearing matte-like. Lastly, it washes out so easily. Seriously, I feel that you will not regret buying this.. One last thing…I can smell my own hair when wearing the product and I the strength of the smell definitely varies directly with the amount used. So, start light and wear it for a few hours. The smell lasts all day. The smell complements whatever cologne you're wearing. So far, this is the best hair paste I have tested.Mr V

I have purchased Reformer from legit retailers in the past and has been one of the only products that keeps my hair styled all day long. This product appears to be a cheap knockoff that does not hold you hair for more than 20 minutes. It also smells bad and leaves an oily feel after. This is the second instance of fake Paul Mitchell that I've encountered in the past, so if you want the actual product, buy it from any retailer.chha-737

I have purchased this for years for my boyfriend because he loves using this on his hair. However over the last 6 months or so, the packaging went from the 4.4 oz to the tiny 2.5 oz but the price stayed the same! I ordered some during the buy 2 get one free sale without realizing the smaller size was all that was offered. He was really surprised when it arrived and was the tiny jars! We returned all 3 to the local store. FYI: other online sites and even local retailers are still selling the 4.4 oz for a lower price (some sites are even 1/2 of this price). The best gel I have ever used. It holds you hair IN PLACE, somewhat crunchy if you like that (I do). I have short hair and spike it a bit, this would not be good for long hair. Walmart offers the best deal on this by far.Jackie

I really like the fragrance of this, it is also pretty good at adding texture to flat hair. I don't care for the feel of it in my hair after a few hours. It almost feels like each strand is covered in something, like just gunky. I personally prefer a different brand or dry shampoo to add texture to my hair.teascha .h

I bought this spray with 2 other more expensive texturizing sprays, one from my favorite Alterna line, but those had over top scents that wouldn't go away. This spray is amazing for fine, straight hair. I have lots of layers and this just makes them have body and separation. I can't say enough good things about this product. I use this mousse to give my limp hair fine hair some thickness and volume. It definitely makes a positive difference. I use about an egg size dollop for my shoulder length hair and it also gives me a nice amount of hold that stands up to the Florida humidity. I then let my hair air dry overnight and then in the morning I use a curling iron to create loose waves. My waves are defined and I also get plenty of nice volume and bounce. I don't even need hairspray. My waves stay in place for several days and the volume is still there even after sleeping. This mousse has a very light pleasant scent that dissipates quickly. It isn't stiff or crunchy at all. It's nothing like the mousse of the 80s and my hair is very pliant and has tons of body. The hold is great and my hair stays in place no matter what the weather dishes out. I'm very satisfied with this mousse and it's become one of my all time favorite styling products. Who knew? I also have the Thickr spray which I don't like nearly as much. This mousse is great for fine hair and never weighs my tresses down. I definitely recommend it highly.dorothy

Texture spray is by far one of the most underrated products in the hair care world. For me personally with fine straight hair, if I curl my hair on day 1 or 2 after washing, chances are it’s going to go flat in an hour. Hairspray gets crunchy and stiff, but texture spray is a great alternative. I spray this on dry clean hair before curling so my hair has something to grip and hold on too! I love this this product! Finally something that does NOT make my hair more frizzy, crunchy, dry or greasy. I have fine to medium curly long hair, I am of Eastern European descent. I just use a very small amount like directions advised, worked it into my wet hair, scrunched it with my hands and let air dry. My hair is sooo soft, no frizz and my curls are defined. I have been searching for a natural product without chemicals that actually works. I love it! It also has a tropical fragrance that is not overwhelming and smells so good! I found this product yearssss ago when I first started the Curly Girl Method. It was very runny, white and much lighter. I ended up repurchasing it and when I opened it, it is incredibly yellow and thick and the ingredient list is completely different. I don't use it everyday to care but in general, Shea Moisture was my Go To absolutely favorite brand and I used their shampoo and conditioner for about 8 years- but I noticed it a couple of months ago stripped my hair and caused an insane amount of frizz. What a shame. I will never buy another Shea Moisture product. They used to have amazing ingredients, now they have all weird chemicals and the smells changed badly. Just started using this, after I cut my hair shoulder length, to style it quickly after washing it. I love this mist because it gives your hair lots of texture and volume. You just spray it in damp hair, scrunch it and go. It's super lightweight and you don't really need to blow dry it. Just let it air dry and you'll have textured wavy hair all day. Bought and used Gold Digger after watching the YouTube reviews. Great shipping time from Sgpomades. Was a little disappointed in the size (2oz) because it was not stated anywhere here on the description so I was expecting a 4oz tub, same as the other 2 pomades I bought here online. This makes it twice as expensive as the others I bought. Thats why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. The pomade itself is fantastic! Great fragrance, easy to work with. It does say use sparingly so I hope it will last as long as other 4oz products that you have to use more of. Anyway, the hold is great, I like how my hair feels after application, pliable yet feels like the hold is strong. Not so much shine, which is what I wanted. I will be sad when this tub is finished. It's been very humid in the summer and my curly/wavy natural hair is usually put up in a bun all summer. I have never been able to find anything that tames my frizz for very long. Few hours at most. BUT this product is my tried and true, ride or die! Sometimes I dont use much and sometimes I have to use a lot but no matter what my frizz is tamed for the whole day! Wet hair fresh from shower and rub this in. Does add some weight to my hair but a little root lifter or hairspray fixes that right quick. I love this stuff and I even use it on those days I straighten my hair just to ensure the frizz will stay away! 100% recommend this to anyone!Brit

I alternate daily between a couple different curl creams, but this one is one of my favorites. I have thick curly shoulder length hair , and this product seems to work very well with it. It doesn't weigh it down, and I like how my curls look all day long. With other curl products I have tried, I still get the frizz and my curls don't seem near as nice as the day goes on. i have used this product now for a couple of years at least and will continue using. Amazing product! Was very much surprised with the end result as I was not expecting it to work so well! I last relaxed my hair 10 months ago which has done wonders for my hair as it is now thicker, longer and fuller with less breakage. I therefore refused to relax it again but have been so tempted!! So before using Texture manageability I would blow dry and use straighteners on my hair to make it silky and straight however it would not last long. Within a few hours it would become frizzy and turn back to my natural state especially at the roots. I thankfully came across this product by chance and thought I would give it a go as I was desperate and wanted to wear my own hair again (have been getting weaves the last 10 months hence the growth and thickness!). I am so glad I did!! By the way, also in the past I have had Brazilian blow drys which has damaged my hair and made it lifeless but I have been mainly dependent on relaxers over the years. After using this kit the results of my hair were just the same as they were with the keratin treatment in the salon! but a whole lot cheaper and less damaging as this claims to not use chemicals. My hair is soft, straight and definitely manageable. I am confident it will stay this way as like I mentioned, it feels very similar to the after results of the keratin treatment. I am over the moon. I can style my hair again as I did before when it was relaxed. I feel like me again!! I wish I found it sooner. I didnt use the whole bottle of the leave in (step 2) as I have fine hair and was conscious not to put too much as the instructions indicated but I must have used enough as the results are flawless!! After waiting to 20 mins and before blow drying my hair felt sticky and my curls were still tight. At this point I thought to my self this is not going to work but as soon as I started blow drying my hair it went straight instantly as if by magic, literally . Also my straighteners were only on 210 as I have fine hair and still it came out very straight but still with volume and bounce unlike with relaxer or keratin treatments. This is such a great concept for those of us who like wear our hair natural but want to switch things up. The shampoo did seem to strip my hair completely (which, I guess, is for the processing conditioner to work), and the product is not as gentle as I assumed. The conditioner did irritate my scalp a bit. I assumed I'd be able to switch back and forth between curly and straight. No. I lost a lot of curl pattern when I did my washout. Still, this is a good product idea I bet they will be improving it as they get feedback. The only thing I would suggest for other consumers is to go and check the FAQs BEFORE using this so you know what to expect. I would give another half star if more info had been on packaging and even inner labels. Wish I'd read FAQs prior to buying. For myself, I could have gotten similar results from a deep condition and flatiron treatment. Some people with more resistant hair might love the product. I applied this product as directed two days ago. My hair has not reverted. This is not a chemical process therefore results will not look like a relaxer nor feel like a relaxer. Expect heat straightened hair that will repel humidity fairly well. My hair is 2b/3b/3c and chemical free. My hair straightens with minimal heat but absorbs moisture then becomes a ball of fluff. I used to use Ouai wave spray and it was amazing, but it’s also $26 for 4.9 ounces. I decided to try this on a whim because the travel size is only $6 and it totally exceeded my expectations. The waves it created were fuller and more textured than they were with Ouai and the hold was better as well. And we mustn’t forget the smell. I loooove it. This product is just amazing. I was looking for a hair texturizer that would help my curls stay in place. I spray this in my hair as well as my heat protectant I then blow dry my hair then curl it. Usually my curls unravel during the night , but when I use this stuff my curls stay easily three days which helps cut down on styling time. my hair is still so soft and healthy. I absolutely love this spray! It smells great and gives my normally limp and flat hair great texture and body. I find I don't need much spray to achieve the texture I want and used too much the first few times and ended up with crunchy waves so you have to find the balance. This mousse is perfect for high porosity type 4 natural hair. It leaves a non sticky residue, plus it's great for rod sets and twist/braidouts. It doesn't leave my hair too frizzy either. I have a little frizz but that's expected with high porosity hair, this mousse just takes it more. It's nice for blow outs with heat because it has heat protectant properties too. I expected this to be my one and done for defining my curls . I used this without a leave in because I feel like it didn't need one and I was right because it was moisturizing. After I was half way through I realized my hair was more bigger than normal and that's a big inclination my hair won't last. I diffused my hair and stretched my hair like normal and the hold was so weak, it was like I blew out my hair like you would for a blow out. This is a great product for definition and styling. it is great for mixing with other products since it does not flake nor does it cause build up so you can use as much as you want. There is a little crunch once it dries but you can easily break them apart without flakes. I am biracial and have 3C hair and it helps keep everything moisturized and defined. I ordered this product specifically for a photo shoot the week of January 17th. I bought this product a few years ago, and I LOVED it. I thought wouldn't it be great to get this product again for my natural gray hair so that my curls will pop! So, I placed an order and I received the wrong product (which I can't use) along with the wrong shipping invoice. I called customer service for 4 days–straight to voicemail. This product is TOTALLY different from the original formula. The new curly stretcher cream has a different feel to it, it will dry your hair out. I have use the original curly stretcher cream with out the avocado for 5 years. I have order this cream faithfully from different vendors and ask the Design Essential supplier, what is going on with this product? I was told Design Essentials is now manufacturing their own products themselves and the middle has been cut out. This is Great New! for the business. This is literally THE best texturizing product that I've ever used. I've tried everything in all different price ranges- including the very expensive Oribe texture spray-this wins hands down. I have fine thin hair and many sprays or texturizing powders weigh my hair down or make it sticky. This product works perfectly to give me lift and texture without being too sticky. For anyone with thin hair, this is truly a remarkable product. As stated in my title a little goes a long way. One thing I really like is it leaves no white residue and seemingly “melts” into your hair. Even if too much is worked in I find that I can brush out any stiffness with a wide tooth comb, and start over. Truly this has been a game changer for my dark, thin hair. I gave this 3 stars only because of the new delivery system with the bulky pump. Actually I was being generous. I have been buying this for years with the smaller bottle that fit nicely in my travel bag and was easier to control the amount used. I could sprinkle it on my fingers and more accurately place the product where I wanted it for lift and body. With the pump, I have no control of the amount dispensed so it makes my hair look dull and dry. If I try to spray it on my fingers it goes EVERYWHERE! And the new bottle is VERY bulky for travel. Wasted plastic packaging! I love the product, hate the pump. I even opened an old bottle and poured the contents of the pump bottle into it. Maybe some people like to use a lot of the product in their hair and like the pump. But for those of us with shorter hair, perhaps you could also offer it in the old shaker bottle.
