I am not sure about the quality of this aloe. I bought this to moisturize my skin as a base underneath a facial moisturizer. I have EXTREMELY dry peeling skin from using retinoids, but this seemed to make it worse. My skin got very red and I had rough dry patches on my cheeks (where I normally don't have a problem with dry skin). I didn't notice much of a scent/smell. Perhaps this would be good if you had a sunburn but I wouldn't use this as a regular moisturizer. I forgot to bring sunscreen to the park and after an hour of sun exposure I had a sunburn (I’m pale). I used this the same night and in the morning the sunburn was pretty much gone. The smell is okay. I’m used to how aloe vera smells but I know a lot of people find it gross. I think the natural scent is good because it proves that the product has a high concentration of actual aloe vera and is not mostly chemicals (like most other drugstore aloe vera products).iHerb Customer

The texture is lightweight and while it takes a minute to fully absorb, it leaves behind no stickiness. The smell was something I didn't like at all, when applying you have to rub it gently and wait a few minute for the white caste to disappear (don't forget it's a MINERAL sun cream). Few times it did peel off and made my dry skin look even more dry (which didn't happened during my 1st purchase of this product). This might be the last time buying this product (this was my second time) because ei have found a better one which suits my skin, its "Clean Ocean Moisture Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++" from Beplain.Online

A bit about myself: age- 32, type of skin- dry/normal, sensitive, easily gets burned, with freckles and hyperpigmentation. I use 50+ sunblock everyday. This purchase was a real trial as my Tone-up sunblock has finished and the one that I ordered was sold out and didn't get in my parcel. BUT, I am super satisfied! The package in nice and stylish. The cream itself has a pleasant rosemary scent. I like how it smells (though if you don't like herb smells, better look for another Sunblock). In a few minutes after applying the smell vanishes. The cream is thick and white, but easily spread all over the face and neck. It doesn't leave sticky or oily cover. I do not feel it on my face. The skin looks hydrated and not oily or extra glossy. I'd say it has a satin finish (I attach a pic). I do not put on BB or CC cream, but the powder on top lays evenly and not visible. When I spend a day outside (camping or at the lake), I increase the frequency of applying the cream and put on additional layer every 2-4 hours (depending on the time spent swimming etc.). I challenged this Sunblock this weekend for 2 days on the river bank and my hyperpigmentation on the upper lip didn't become brown. I also didn't get sunburnt. It’s easy to blend into the skin, doesn’t leave white streaks. It’d be my favorite mineral sunscreen, if it wasn’t for the rosemary oil. I have super sensitive dry skin, and it mildly burns sometimes when my skin is inflamed and “exposed”. It also leaves a subtle white cast (more like a tint) on my skin, but since I’m fair, it just makes my skin look brighter- kinda like a tone up cream. Other than rosemary oil, I think it’s great. I've been searching for an affordable and effective vitamin c serum for a long time. I've tried several from Cosrx to Klairs to lumene products, but never one that I saw such fast results with as this one. I saw an instant brightening effect and a few scars have already lightened pretty dramatically in less than a week of use. I have heard that keeping vitamin c in the fridge helps it to last longer so that's where I keep this. This is hands down the best after sun recovery cream I have ever used. I am super fair, and burn even when the sun is hiding in the clouds. This cream is thick and soothing. It has a slight scent, but nothing over powering. A small amount will go a long way on your sunburned skin. I already use another body lotion, so I just got this product for something fun to try on my vacation. I was a little nervous because I don't like scented products and I knew this had some fragrance. Good news is that the fragrance is very light, doesn't linger and has more of an essential oil smell than a masking smell. This is a really great tinted sunscreen. I wouldn’t apply it every 2 hours like suggested for sunscreens however this is my new daily go to foundation/moisturizer and sunscreen all in one. I love it! The texture has a nice creamy feel to it that soaks into my skin and doesn’t just sit on it or build up. I am 47 and my skin is showing signs of aging. Make up seems to just make all the little signs of aging even worse! With this, it soaks into my skin moisturizing it and leaving a nice tint that compliments my skin well. I don’t get any lines cakiness or residue from it like regular foundations. I love that it is specifically made for my face! EltaMD UV Restore is a 100% mineral sunscreen that claims to improve sun-damaged skin. It contains Squalane, Ginger Root Extract and Saccharide Isomerate which helps with skin smoothness, minimizes dark spots and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also contains antioxidants and protects your skin from UV light and free radicals. Does it do all of this, I can’t say for sure but so far, I am seeing more positive results than negative (actually no negative) so I will continue using this product. Honestly, I haven’t seen any negative results. Not even any breakouts which is unusual for me. In summary, I do recommend EltaMD UV Restore for all women young and old. It is never too early to start protecting your face and skin from the sun and all of the other environmental hazards we face today. Especially with all of the UV light we are exposed to today. I really enjoy this formula but I have a few caveats with it. I find it to be gentle and nonirritating on my dry, sensitive skin. The ginger root extract does tingle when first applied but the sensation subsides. It is a fragrance-free formula which I really like (you can kind of smell the ginger root extract at first but it is not noticeable). When reading the reviews of this SPF, I noticed many people mentioning the white cast. I have a lightly pigmented skin tone so I decided to purchase the tinted version in case I needed to mix the two together. It was quite an investment, but I am satisfied with the way the sunscreen looks mixed together. The regular version alone creates too much of a white cast on my complexion. But when used in conjunction with the Tinted version, I find it to look more natural (3 pumps tinted and 1 pump regular covers my face, neck, and hands). When first applied, it does look a little shiny but since my skin is so dry the shininess does not last long and I normally apply the EltaMD Face & Body lotion on top. I do not use foundation or other makeup so I am unsure of how it may react to other products. But in my experience, the texture and application is great and a little product goes a long way. I appreciate this SPF doesn't have Hyaluronic Acid and I think it is a great option for people with sensitivities.Anonymous

Incredible cream for oily/combination skin. This cream truly brightens my complexion and leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and hydrated. It’s lightweight and perfect alone or worn under makeup. Wonderful moisturizer!!! I am lucky to have received this as a #freeproduct complimentary from Caudalie via TopBox. It is especially great when paired with the Caudalie Vinoperfect Anti Dark Spot Serum. I saw great results after my first month of pairing the serum + moisturizer once daily. I found this moisturizer to be pretty thick – or at least a little goes a long way. I have dry skin so I need a lot of moisturization day and night. This is probably my number one favorite lotion. It scores 5 stars in every category whether it be scent, absorption, ingredient choices, or simply how it feels on your skin. If your looking for a do it all moisturizer this is it and I can use it on my body and face. I have oily/acne skin and this is so light but still so hydrating. The scent is non-irritating but still smells good. The smell is a clean natural coconut scent but I have such sensitive skin and this doesn't cause any itch or flare ups. All my sister's have this lotion and we still fight over it! There is also a bar soap of this product and its all my mom and sister use on there face. Its actually one of the only soaps I have found that doesn't leave that tight soft stripped feeling. This is also a cruelty free brand so no animal testing! One of the best daily moisturizers I’ve used to date. I’ve gone through many a bottle of this over the years. Consistency: it’s on the liquidy side of things. A ton will come out if you squeeze the bottle too hard. Spreads very easily. Absorption: quickly and effectively Fragrance: a light coconut fragrance, that lasts! Even at the end of the day you can still smell it. My boyfriend says it smells like cake! Irritation: mildly— I haven’t had issues in the past but recently it’s been causing a small flare up causing my pore to get red. I've been exclusively using Paula's Choice for the past three months. AM: Clear Pore Normalizing Cleanser + Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion. PM: Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant + Skin Recovery Daily Moisturizing Lotion. My skin is pretty dry, and the Lotion simply isn't hydrating enough. It also has a white cast that I think is pretty obvious. It's nice and lightweight but again, if your skin's on the drier side, it just won't hydrate your skin properly. My skin gets flaky especially around my smile lines after I use the cleanser in the morning, and the flakiness doesn't go away with this lotion.Suha

Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are the two most effective sunscreens you can buy. They are 100% natural and completely safe. They are not absorbed into your body, your bloodstream and your organs like chemical sunscreems have been proven over and over again to do. I would never ever buy a sunscreen with chemicals in it. This product is a decent moisturizer and you can apply foundation over it wihout it pilling. I would disagree that it doesn't leave a white cast, but it's not too heavy. In fact, I find that because the zinc oxide and titanium dioxide do leave a light layer of "cover" on the skin, it acts like paint primer does on a wall. It evens out your skintone and if you have good skin, all you have to do is dust on powder and your skin looks great – very natural because the effect is so sheer. This SPF doesn't leave you with a white chalky face like some reviews have said. It's initially white bit fades in ten minutes. Since high school, I have dealt with acne. It used to be a lot worse, but since I started using a prescription acne medication (Taro-Adapalene Benzoyl Peroxide) it has been manageable. My daily routine now, at age 24, prior to being sent these products from @dermalogicacanada #giftedbydermalogica included a facial exfoliation 2-3 times per week, a gentle astringent, a serum in the mornings, and eye cream and moisturizer to finish. I replaced the moisturizer in my regular routine with this one instead, and the exfoliator with a daily cleanser I was also sent. I will admit that although I did my full skincare routine every morning for the month or so after receiving this product, I did miss some nights when I was just too tired, so maybe if I had done every night as well, I would have noticed a difference. However, I did not. My skin has still been breaking out to the same degree as it was before. Perhaps these products would be beneficial for people who just break out only every so often rather than for someone like me, who has acne-prone skin. I also found that if I didn't squeeze out enough of this moisturizer onto my face, when I tried to rub it in and make the smaller amount work, it would actually start shedding as my hands brushed over it. I think it's because the moisturizer is fairly thick, as I've experienced sunscreen having this same reaction before. I had to wet my hands and add some water to my face to get rid of the shedding/make the rest soak into my face. So after that, I always ensured I had too much moisturizer squeezed out rather than not enough. Although my face FELT matte after using it, it sure didn't appear it. I haven't found a good mattifying moisturizer that really does work for my face, so I suppose I wasn't surprised that my face still looked shiny after using it, although I was a bit disappointed, since that is what this moisturizer claims to do. I don't think this moisturizer is bad by any means, since I do like the SPF protection, and it did help keep my face from getting too dry. However, I personally would not buy it again.Alexandra

I have very oily skin in my t-zone and so for me this doesn’t dry to a fully matte finish in that area, I’d say it’s more of a natural finish. But it’s not greasy at all and does help to reduce oil production during the day, so I chalk this up as a win for sunscreen. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and it hasn’t broken me out at all and may even be helping keep my skin clear (hard to tell because I use other actives). So far it’s my favourite moisturizer with SPF so I’ll keep using it. The only thing I don’t love is that is has fragrance, not sure why that’s necessary. However it does dissipate once it dries. I recently switched to dermalogica for all my skin care needs. I selected products after having read up on them and the ingredient lists from different lines to suit my skin needs. Although I have oily and super congested skin, it has been a while since i've actually broken out and by that I mean like terrible cystic break outs (which I suffered from in high school). Among ALL the things I purchased, this one sadly disappointed me sorely. I'm so pleased with the rest of my products even though a lot of them weren't cut for my skin type but this one while being meant to "clear breakouts" did, in fact, the opposite! Just one application later, I developed a huge cyst on my face. And i know this product was to blame because i introduced all the new products one at a time after a gap of a couple weeks. Reading some of the reviews here has just reinforced my belief. I really wanted to like this product since ive been on the lookout for a suitable suncreen for my type and i really did give it multiple attempts but sadly it didnt make the cut. Also, applying it 'generously' like the instructions mention is a bad idea since i've noticed that does more harm than good. I hate to give this a 1 star because it actually works. It doesn’t break my skin out or burn, and it actually evened out my skin tone and made it smoother. Why the negative review then? I can not in all good conscience recommended this to anyone I know or a stranger because the price per portion is absolutely insane. $24 for 0.5oz?!! That’s ridiculous, and the larger one is even a higher mark up. The Ordinary makes an equally great one for 1.0oz and it’s like $16. Change the price or make it bigger. I read reviews before purchasing this product and read that it smelled awful, but I thought it couldn’t possibly be that bad. No, it’s terrible. So bad that the first time applying it I nearly threw up about 3 times with it sitting on my face. HOWEVER, the applications after the first weren’t bad at all and I was used to it. I promise after the first run it’s not bad and it’s completely worth your time. This product makes my skin glow for real. I’ve only experienced a very small purge that was literally nothing compared to how my face reacts to other skincare products typically. First the packaging is very cathy because of the light blue boxing and labels. This is a different type of drops bottle that I've seen before. Very wide enough for more product. And made of glass. Directions were well easy to understand as well as the ingredients etc. The dropper is made of glass as well and holds a lot of product when using. I apply this serum twice a week in my morning and night skincare routine after cleaningand toner. The scent is very very much citrus and just like squeezed oranges. The texture is runny so be careful! But thickens up a bit when rubbed in. Glides on pretty well and not too oily. I would recommend using sparsely you don't want to be super moisturized. You can definitely notice right away the moisture from this serum. My skin feels very hydrated, soft and breathable. No hars scents, over drying, oiliness nor breakouts. I have hopes to notice my dark spots disappearing soon but we shall see in due time. Overall, I believe this serum can be a game changer for me. Oceanic Glacial Water is my new fav. I have at least 15 sunscreens at any given time, as I live in a hot climate and always testing new ones. I find that I don't rush to wash Glacial off when I return home, and even use it when I am not going out. Glacial is not heavy or greasy, I just use a dusting of powder over because I have oily skin. As a woman of color, my sunscreen must not leave a white cast — most mineral sunscreens do. Glacial does not leave any white cast. I recommend it to all skin types and colors. My wish is that you do a higher SPF for us southern girls. Great product!!Shaaron F.

I can’t decide if I like this or not. When I first applied it to my face it felt like a thick sunblock. However, it absorbed better than most sunscreen. It also left my skin soft to the touch. However, it also “felt” like I was wearing sunscreen. There was definitely a felling of having a protective layer on face. This obviously can be a good and bad point. I received this as a sample. I’m not against spfs at all – in fact my regular day cream is actually a sun cream (Mimitika). But this cream is marketed as a day cream, when in fact, when applied it has that sun cream appearance which leaves the skin with a bluey-white film, which made me look ill. I like the thick consistency of the cream, the scent and the matt finish. But I didn't like how difficult it is to rub into the skin; I’m 49 and I have some fine lines, this cream dries out quickly as you work it into the skin, and for me, this accentuated the lines in my skin. I guess this wouldn’t happen at all with younger skin, though. Anyway, I think it’s a sun cream, not a day cream hence low rating.Marilu

Since we live in Florida, my family uses aloe vera products a lot in the summer; especially after long beach days. I love that this product is actually made out of aloe vera .. not a mixture of unknown chemical ingredients. The consistency is more watery and sticky, but I’m okay with that since it’s more natural. The product is too watery, not as gel is supposed to be, as water flows out once the cap is opened. It feels awful on the skin, too sticky, and most importantly, the scent is disgusting. This cream works great for dark spots. I had a lot on my chest due to age and sun damage. Previously, I had 2 IPL treatments without much results. But after using this cream, the spots are getting much smaller, breaking up and going away. It is not greasy and does not smell at all. I'm super sensitive to makeup and lotion smells, but this stuff is great. It does not hurt or burn at all unlike other lotions and creams that I have used. Spots that were larger than a quarter, raised and waxy are now about the size of pencil eraser, so I can see they are smaller. I'm still on my first tube but quickly bought 2 more because I'm working on my back next with the help of a lotion applicator. Friends have noticed a difference in my appearance. I got this day time lotion as recommended by Clinique while I used their even better radical dark spot corrector, to ensure effectiveness and protect my skin from further darkening. I've been using it consistently for about a month now, hoping things would get better the longer I used it. I love the dark spot corrector, I really don't like this SPF lotion. I find it makes my skin very greasy within an hour of wearing it during the day. If I wear any makeup on top of this lotion, the greasy t zone is reeeaaal you guys. This forehead could blind a man if caught at the right angle in the sun. The lotion was fairly expensive so I'm pretty disappointed. I loveeee this product. Its long lasting and finshing is amazing. I love this top most brand. This is one of my favorites brands and with reasonable price. I bought this from walmart store and it is also available in other stores like Fred Meyer,target,walgreens many……. It gives soft texture on skin. I spent a lot of time throughout several weeks researching a mineral sunscreen with zero white cast from a brand with no bad ingredients. I narrowed it down to 6 products from 6 different brands, which the Detox Market happened to carry. I got 6 samples & used each sample in different ways (exercise outdoors or chilling inside my house) to get an unbiased experience. This product stood out immediately. It had zero white cast (4 of the others had white cast even though they claimed to have no white cast including Ursa Major). I have tanned olive skin. This is the best smelling skin care product I own. I am not against scent but am completely against toxic added fragrances. If you are sensitive to scent I recommend sampling this first because it is fairly strong (but again, I love it). This product does not pill (like my Josh Rosenbrook samples did) & the application was so smooth. I have been using this for several weeks now and noticed I can't layer on my serums (or put too much of 1 serum) or I might feel a bit heavy, shiny or greasy. I don’t leave reviews unless I’m enraged or incredibly happy, and to be honest, the latter occasion is far rarer. But this is by far the best sunscreen I’ve ever put on my skin. In fact, it’s the only sunscreen by far that didn’t instantly irritate my ridiculously sensitive, allergy-prone skin. I use this after I apply moisturizer both morning and night. It does not feel like too much, and doesn't leave me feeling too oily. It blends in wonderfully/easily. It isn't going to get rid of my hyper pigmentation permanently, but as long as I use this it drastically lightens it to almost being unnoticeable. That is a win in my book. Plus it has SPF and doesn't feel like other products I tried with SPF, that don't blend in well, are thick, and leave you feeling oily.Emily

I have been completely loyal to Clinique for years now. This formula although recommended by the Ulta Clinique girl is not it though. It's heavy, I didn't see much of a difference for the last 7 weeks I used it. I went back to their moisture surge formula.Stef

I learned one of the most important tricks to eliminating acne scars is SPF…who would've thought! This product fights scarring and has SPF to make the results endure. I loved this and used it the first time when I was probably 16 and barely had scars to begin with…I stopped using it because they disappeared and it was pricey. Now, I'm 20 and in college…been using this nearly a year after finally ridding my cystic acne…and you know it left the aftermath! My scars have diminished amazingly…you have to be patient to see major changes but I noticed the first small change in my complexion being brighter and more even in just 2 weeks.Danielle

I decided to try this because I'd gone through 4 bottles of the SkinMedica Essential Defense SPF (tinted), which was the SPF that converted me to wearing daily sunscreen. Given this more specific "anti-aging" formula I figured it would be a fancier version of what I already loved. Now that I've gone through most of the bottle, my verdict is that it's…okay. It's much thicker and doesn't play as nice with my skincare as the Essential Defense does. If I apply it too soon after my moisturizer it clumps up. Since it's thicker I also feel its presence on my face a little more than the Essential Defense. I'm about to be 30 years old, so maybe my skin isn't mature enough to appreciate this formula, but I didn't really notice any skin benefits. Don’t get me wrong, this is an incredible product (it should be for the price) but it isn't my favorite SkinMedica SPF.Leah

Be sure to shake it well before dispensing it to ensure you get a well mixed product. It goes on light without leaving a grayish hue that is so common with other zinc sunscreens. It is very important that I don’t get the grayish hue, as I am a woman of color. Did I mention that it also helps to repair damage from sun exposure? This cream is good for my skin. Before buying I read a lot of reviews. There were good reviews and bad ones, but still I decided to buy, and did not regret it. I bought this cream in winter, but I will definitely use it in summer, as it is very light and does not grease the skin. I have combination skin, enlarged pores and other moisturizers with SPF that I have used before were terrible. The consistency of the cream is more liquid than other creams with SPF which are sticky and heavy. The cream is quickly absorbed, tightens my pores and reduces oiliness in problem areas. I noticed that the cream visibly tightens the skin, lifts the cheekbones and the lower third of the face, and also makes the facial wrinkles on the forehead less noticeable. I apply the cream after the serum in the daytime. I have different serums and with each of them the cream works perfectly. Don't use time at night. Not long ago I was on vacation in a warm country where the temperature was about 86F (29C). And the cream worked. It protected me from the sun in the morning, but in the afternoon when there was an aggressive sun I was in the shade, in general my skin did not suffer. Of course I will buy this cream again, it is needed in the summer. The cream is liquid than other creams, it can flow out, so it is better not to take it with you in your purse. Whenever I have seen reviews that state "OMG this product changed my life", I've always taken them with a grain of salt. You see, I had never had an experience with a product where such a dramatic difference was immediately noticeable. It was extremely frustrating to try such hyped products and be let down because they didn't do anything amazing to my skin. Today is that day, however, and this is that product for me. I have very oily, acne-prone, dehydrated skin. What makes this product such a game changer for me is that it's a gel-based moisturizer. I was looking for something lightweight and good for oily skin that contained sunscreen and BOY was I blown away. The first time I applied it, there was an immediate noticeable difference not just in the way my skin felt, but also how it looked. My face felt smooth, even, and hydrated but not sticky or oily. It applies like a dream and sinks right into your skin. My husband even commented on it, unprompted, as my face tends to turn into an oil slick after a few hours but didn't when I used this. I have never NOT looked like an oily mess by the end of the day but with this product, I don't have that problem. While I do get a bit shiny in my T-zone, it looks normal and like just "skin". As I've continued to use it, I am continually blown away each day and just fall more in love. When I say this changed my skin, I absolutely mean that. I can't even explain the relief I feel knowing that I no longer have to blot every hour and that the paranoia of looking like an oil slick is gone. I purchased this product to take the place of my moisturizer. When I went to use the next morning I found it wasn't a moisturizer but a sun screen. I used the sun screen under my moisturizer and my skin loves it. The combination was prefect for my old skin. I had felt a dryness around my mouth for awhile thus I needed to change my moisturizer.
