20 Best Products To Bleach Hair At Home (Feb 2023 Update)

I have used this product for years now, to lighten my eyebrows .It works well, is affordable and readily available. Everything you need is included, for mixing the two ingredients. I do get a little stinging, but Oh…that's the price of beauty!! For me, this is the only one I use or will use because it works!

I bought this to touch up my roots besides the fact it didn't do the job left my roots orange it left my scalp super delicate my skin is still peeling from this bleach. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, if you wanna bleach your hair stick to what you started with. Paul Mitchell did the work the first time & I messed up by trying this horrible product on for the touch up. You seriously get what you pay for!!

The consistency of this bleach is HORRIBLE, I used just about half a bottle of normal, 30 volume, developer. Still had to use 2.5 packets for SHORT hair. Product dried to my bowl before I could even finish my client’s hair and where it was, it didn’t lift evenly at all. I was really expecting more from L’Oréal.

This cream bleach worked fabulously to lift my medium brown hair to a golden blonde. I wanted to try balayage at home so after a lot of research and watching YouTube tutorials, I decided to try this brand. There was essentially zero smell since there’s no ammonia. It was easy to mix and apply (I used foils). I think it’s important to note a few things though: 1. DO THE STRAND TEST FIRST. This part I think is vital. Make sure you follow the instructions provided, use a timer and keep track of how long the lifting process takes to reach the level you want. I checked it every 10 mins and realized I needed to leave the bleach on for 45 minutes before I was happy with the color. 2. If you’re going from dark to blonde, or have any warmer tones already in your hair, you will need a legit toner. This does not come with this kit. When you first rinse the bleach the results will probably be yellow/orange. Don’t freak out (yet). I used Clairol Professional Shampoo for Blonde & Silver hair to initially shampoo the bleach out. It’s a very pigmented purple to counteract those orangey tones. I then towel dried my hair and applied the Brite Purple Toning & Conditioning Hair Mask. I made sure my entire head was completely saturated and then left it in for 30 mins. You can purchase both of these toning options from Target as well. You can see the before and after in the attached photo. I’m very happy with the results!

I bought this as a second option since my first option was out of stock. I am very impressed with how well my hair turned out using this lightener. My friend and I did each others hair with this product and don’t have any complaints about it. It does smell like green apples and so does the developer. The only thing I didn’t like was how much lightener was in the container. My hair is thick and shoulder blade length and after doing my friends hair, there wasn’t enough left to completely finish my hair. I will buy another can because it worked so well. I did pair it with the ion skin sensitive developer 30 volume, while my friend used regular 20 developer. Using both the lightener and the developer from the same brand helped. My hair didn’t feel fried and was actually soft to the touch. I would recommend this lightener to anyone.

I chickened out using this on my hair, but I did use it on my human hair mannequin, that was a level 8 natural. I lightened ¼ of the hair. The instruction pamphlet had the instructions for a few different products, in a couple different languages, and also came with a pair of clear gloves attached to it. I followed the instructions which was to put the bleach powder into the prefilled activator bottle. The bleach was a really pretty blue and the liquid was clear. I shook the bottle up until it was combined and then cut the tip off. Upon cutting the tip the bleach started spewing out of the tip. I already had my mannequin sectioned so I just ran from the bathroom to the mannequin and started applying it to small sections from the bottom of the head working my way to the top. The bleach had a pretty smell, which got stronger as it was lightening the hair, but wasn't too extreme, I would definitely recommend using this kit in a well ventilated area. This lightener is very creamy, but I did come across a chunk that I couldn't squeeze out, so I had to stick something into the bottle tip and then cover the tip with my finger and shake it up more. If you have thicker or long hair you would definitely need 2 or 3 of these kits, as I only did ¼ of the mannequins hair and only had about ¼ of the lightener left in the bottle, the hair was fully saturated with no dry spots. I did follow the instructions and left space between the "scalp" and the hair as to not cause irritation. It took about 20 minutes for the hair to lighten to a nice blonde color. I rinsed the hair and then used the shampoo packet that was included in the box. There's more than enough shampoo to wash your hair 2 times, if you're into that. The shampoo smelled like a nice and fruity, which reminded me of V05. It had a nice thick almost jelly consistency that made the hair feel absolutely wonderful. The amount of lather was remarkable. The hair kind of felt hay-ish but there wasn't any breakage at all. After I rinsed the hair I towel dried it and applied the treatment packet. I left that in the hair for at least a half hour or more. The hair felt silkier after the treatment, I again towel dried the hair and then blew it dry and styled it. As a professional hair stylist, I truly believe, if you're on a budget and possibly have more hands to help you, you can absolutely achieve lighter hair that stays healthy if you follow the directions. My mannequin started off with lightened hair and had been lightened and toned with professional hair color 2 previous times and still was in good condition. I'm not sure how well you could achieve results if you have boxed color in your hair though.
