20 Best Products To Enhance Wavy Hair (Feb 2023 Update)

My hair is thin and wavy, with low porosity. I rarely wear it in its natural state, opting to dry with a round blow-dryer brush and flat iron. SCENT: This reminds me of the Melrose Place scent, and is noticeable upon spritzing, but fades rather quickly. TEXTURE: A little goes a long way. The right amount gives my hair volume; too much gave it a crispy texture. Overall: I tried this four different ways, With varying degrees of success. First, using my everyday product routine, using Kérastase Nutritive Nectar, Color WOW Dream Coat and Olaplex #6 on the ends of my hair. I misted the OUAI all over, then sectioned and twisted my hair, pinning each section at the bottom and air drying. The result was a somewhat frizzy mess. Second, I used it as a substitute for dry shampoo (which I do not use) to see if it would ‘wake up’ and refresh day-old washed hair. Unfortunately this made my hair look greasy, so that was a quick no-go. Third, I used a curl defining cream (MoroccanOil Curl Cream) and sprayed the Ouai, repeating the styling steps above, and gently blow drying after allowing my hair to air dry for about a half hour. This combination gave my hair very soft, natural-looking waves that I pulled up into a ponytail. This look lasted all day, through being out in the sun, heat, and misters. It was a style I have attempted before, but by the end of the day it is usually flat. This was encouraging! On my fourth and final attempt, I used the curl cream, repeated the original styling steps, and used a diffuser to blow dry my hair. This resulted in slightly defined waves that felt a little crispy, with an overall voluminous effect. Final Thoughts: This is not a product that I would use often, only due to the texture/thickness of my hair. Although it does provide some added volume, finding the right balance between full and crunchy is tricky. For someone who washes their hair 2-3x a week, this can be a tricky product to use. I have 2B hair, and a lot of it, but my hair texture is very fine, unlike many people with strong natural wave patterns. Curl creams tend to weigh down my hair, making it flat and greasy. Salt sprays are of course drying and damaging in the long term. But Ouai Wave Spray is the perfect product! It has the nourishment and definition which other people can get from the shea butter heavy creams, all in such an easy and light manner! I simply rake the spray through my hair and scrunch with it right out of the shower then use a medium-hold gel to maintain definition throughout the day. For reference, I have very long, curly and dry hair. Having curly hair, I don’t need that much help to show some waves so I use this product as a touch up. PROS – It controls the fizz on my hair. – It helps redefine my curls after several days since washing my hair. – It smells so good (in my opinion) so I love to spray it on my hair even just to enjoy the perfume. If you don’t like strong scents, stay away from this one. – The spray delivers the product very evenly. – Reasonably priced. – Cruelty free. CONS – It tends to dry my hair so it is a good option on these humid Florida summer days but I won’t be able to use it during the winter. I cannot use it everyday because of this reason. – I have curly hair so I don’t have volume issues so I cannot say if it adds volume.sara.a

This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. However, I still use Uncle Funky’s Daughter every single day and it’s been excellent for my 3b hair! And CGM approved!!! Worth every penny and lasts long.Natalie

I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Once dry, I scrunch with my hands or a t-shirt to get the “crunch” out and my hair looks so good after. It holds the waves in nicely all day long and strong.kelly.w

Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. It’s a gel with the exact consistency of snot. First wash your hair, condition, leave in condition or whatever, and then while your hair is still soaking wet, apply a GENEROUS amount. Finger detangle/shingle/whatever you to that usually gets a little more definition in your hair and boom. Soft not crunchy curls. Such an amazing hold without feeling like your hair is going to fall out. No flaking. I have 2C, high density, coarse, porous, long hair. Since adding heavy highlights to blend the grays, my hair has been a dry, frizzy nightmare! I have read endless product reviews, watched countless You Tube Videos regarding care and products for my hair. I have purchased so many products that it is insane, and none fully managed to clump my curls/waves and provide humidity protection.
I use a leave in conditioner applied in the shower to soaking wet hair. I then use a curl primer. I scrunch these products into hair and micro plop to remove excess water. I then apply curl keeper just like gel, using praying hands method to coat each curl. I add more to the crown and smooth over waves. I then plop for 10-30 minutes depending on if I’m air drying or diffusing.
I actually prefer to air dry and this product allows that, though it takes hours to dry. Can form a slight cast which I actually love. Once fully dry any crunch is easily scrunched out. I NEVER have shine in my hair due to the coarse texture but with this my curls are defined and shiny. Best part is that even in high humidity this holds perfectly.
I cannot speak to 2nd or 3rd day hair as I haven’t been able to test this part yet.

I didn’t get the beach wave version, I got mine for a sleek and anti-frizz hair purpose, I have used this for beach wavy styling though and it was amazingly good! Full of moisturizing ingredients, especially oils, this cream is fairly thick so I recommend using the tiniest amount combined with A LOT of water. It will give you super soft feeling hair. I don’t know if it really “activated” my curls, I’ve used a lot of curl creams with similar results. I like the ingredient line up though and will continue to use and purchase. One thing to note, this is a protein-free formula so balance your protein/moisture accordingly. If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be to change the packaging to a squeeze tube instead of this hard plastic bottle that makes it difficult to squeeze product out of. This is my go-to leave-in curl cream. It doesn't weigh down my medium-thickness 2b strands and it doesn't leave them in flyaway disarray either. It's easy to use TOO much, so build up slowly or emulsify in your hands with a little water before applying to wet or damp tresses. I get my best results from this cream when I apply it to my hair (avoiding the scalp) fresh from washing and plop it for a while. It leaves the sliiightest cast, which is easily scrunched out. The formula sometimes causes small breakouts on my neck, which is the reason why I award it four stars instead of five. If you're new to the wavy/curly world, consider giving this cream a try!Renzie

I have curly hair so i used to apply mielle's leave in but the scent was too strong to handle for me, so i got this cantu moisturizing cream. I was hesitated whether to try anything from cantu on my hair because u heard alot of negative feedback about it but everbody has different hair so maybe it didn't work for some people yet it did go well for others, so i wanted to give it a shot. The size of the bottle would last 5 – 6 months which is great, has a light pleasant coconut scent. I used it after shower, the texture is thick so i recommend to use it when your hair is wet and apply 2 to 3 pumps because it spreads well through hair. I so wanted this to work after seeing the video. Everything I've tried works and will hold those curls for days. I followed all directions to the letter. For some unknown reason this road did not end well. No curls, My naturally curly hair flatten and the curls were more waves than curls. Absolutely no bounce. I contacted the customer support and was given all of these additional things that I could try. I thought no. I don't have to do anything extra with my other product. This is wash and wear hair. No fuss needed. I rewashed my hair the next day. Used my normal product and the curls bounced back in. Customer service said I had to mail the product back for a refund. I had no way to do that and why couldn't I just throw it out. No they needed it back. It didn't occur to me to take pics. I'm 64. Who does that. It took me a few tries to figure things out. I'm glad I decided to try it out! I found that 4-5 pumps work well for me. My hair is around 3A and a mix of fine and thick strands (low and high porosity) because it's quite damaged from years of doing the Brazilian blowout + super hot straightening iron almost every day. How I apply (hope that helps for anyone): As soon as I finish washing my hair (literally after, while my hair is dripping wet), still in the shower, I divide my hair in the middle, into 2 parts. Then I apply 2 pumps on each side using my fingers to comb it through. I focus more on the parts where my hair is finer. Then I get a half pump and use my fingers to comb through the back of my hair, in parts where I might have missed it (that happened before). Sometimes I feel like adding another half pump to the most damaged parts of my hair. After that, I brush my entire hair using a brush, not a comb. I tried using a wide-tooth comb and it doesn't work as well as a brush. The comb doesn't detangle my hair or leave it as smooth as a brush. I then tilt my head forward and brush it again – but I DO NOT brush my hair from my neck to forehead entirely (if that makes sense). I look down and brush my hair as it falls naturally – it falls on the sides of my head and in front – as if you're looking down, which is exactly how I do. Then I scrunch it. The very front part of my hair (where bangs would be) is quite damaged. So once I'm done and out of the shower, I section that front part out and brush it again to make it even smoother. I brush it up, then pull it to the back and to the side, how I like to style my hair, then I scrunch it again. That's the only application method that worked for me. Hope it works for someone else! Smell: I'm not a huge fan of the smell, it's a bit strong for me. It's definitely not a bad smell though. But once I'm out of the shower and ready to go about my day, I don't feel that strong smell anymore, it smells better. Just got my Black Friday order 3 days ago (amazing deal, by the way) and have washed and styled my hair twice with the Curly system and I absolutely love it! I used to have nearly perfectly straight hair through my teens and early 20's then noticed the texture started to change into my 30's and beyond (I'm 41 now). I was super bummed because I always used to get compliments on my hair growing up, but as it changed it just seemed to be frizzy and crazy unless I used a straightener. I decided to start using various drugstore styling products for wavy/curly hair and had decent results, but it seemed like every time I thought I had a good combo of products, one or two of the items would stop being made or stocked and I'd be back to square one. For the last couple of years I've been starting with spraying a fair amount of sea salt spray to my damp hair to add volume followed by a curl defining spray that I would scrunch in before diffusing. I got compliments on my hair again, but it always seemed a bit dry to me, and if I ran my hands through my hair I would feel a salty residue. I felt there had to be something better for me…I have been seeing ads for LUS on Facebook for at least the past year or so, and was always intrigued, but still too apprehensive to commit to spending a bit more on my hair care, regardless of all of the amazing reviews. However, when I woke up the day after Thanksgiving and saw the awesome deal LUS was offering for such a large bundle of products I immediately placed my order. All I can say is WOW. I feel like it came out nearly perfect on the first try!! My hair is so soft, grit-free, and bouncier and shinier than with my old routine. It really does not take much product at all, at least for my fine hair. I divided my hair into 8 sections and only used either a partial pump or a full pump of the styling product on each (depending on the thickness of the section); made sure to use the great spray bottle to keep my hair damp, scrunched and arranged my hair, then used my diffuser like normal. The application of product took a bit of time, maybe 10 minutes, then the diffusing was another 5-10, but as I get more used to the routine I think it will go even faster. I have been using the 3-step system exactly as instructed for a month and my hair is limp, the curls are weighted down a good 3 inches from the scalp and frizzy. In short, my hair looks horrible. I have tried using less conditioner than instructed, more and less product, and everything in between. The all-in-one styling product is essentially a light leave in conditioner that does not hold my curl shape or provide any manageability or hold whatsoever. I have fine 2C/3A hair and after a month of using this product system it looks like I have frizzy hair with a bonus of zero lift or volume. No thank you. My hair looked fine the first two times I used it, but has gotten progressively worse with each shampoo, condition, and styling. If you have fine hair, stay away from this product. Even though the hair quiz will say it will work for your hair, it will not. I'm sure if you have thick, coarse hair that is 4A-C, this is great. If not, user beware.Stephanie P.

BEWARE – they do not have a satisfaction guarantee. If you try the product and are unhappy with the results, you are just stuck with it. I have 2C curls, and tried the 3 step system in Curly – based on my test results. My hair is extremely healthy, I have been using sulfate, paraben, silicone free products for over 5 years. I do not use heat or color treat my hair, and it is trimmed regularly. I have had a TON of success with the DivaCurl products, but wanted to try something new to see what else was out there. After two weeks of use with the LUS 3 step system I purchased, I was not getting the results that I had hoped for. My hair had this dirty/sticky feeling to it after it dried. Definitely not silky looking or feeling at all. I altered how I used the product thinking I was not using enough water, or perhaps using too much product, but no matter what I did, I had the same results. One pump of product applied in the shower with TONS of water, and my mid length hair still dried and felt dirty/sticky. My hair has much better results with NO product at all, compared to my results using the LUS set. Reached out to customer service to see if it would be possible to return product for a refund and was told that was not an option. They do not offer returns or credits on any type of open product. This curl cream would be great for you if you’re not looking to have too much hold in your hair. It’s thick, but it doesn’t create a very strong cast for me. As you can see, my hair is already frizzing at the roots and it’s not completely dry yet. There’s no cast to scrunch out. The pump is also really hard to use and only dispenses like a dime size of product with each pump, which means I need to pump twice just to get enough for one section of hair. It is very hydrating, so I can’t knock it down too much, but it is probably my least favorite ouidad product, which is saying a lot because I LOVE ouidad. Just for reference, this was purchased for and used on biracial, relatively thick, spiral curly hair. This is a very lightweight, non greasy product with relatively good slip. It ends there. If this was the only product you wanted to use. No gel, no mouse, no oils, no creams, no leave in, no frizz control, I mean zero other products, then this might work for you. It immediately interacts with other products by leaving white clumps all over your hair. It doesn't matter if you use less/more of it or if you use less/more of the other, it is a disaster. I've tried this with SEVERAL other products from different lines and it always ends with the same result. It doesn't absorb later and disappear, instead the clumps turn into white flakes. Thousands of small white flakes. Like you've had glitter distributed through your hair. Water doesn't rid it. You must completely shampoo out the product.Donna L

Ocean Waves used to be my absolute favorite product all time, whether I was blonde, brunette, or brown with highlights. Now that it is apparent that the Sea Waves version no longer contains the conditioning oils, making the product is NO different from any other sea salt texturizer out there. It also has a stronger smell, which is fine, but also makes it no different than the other products out there. When the product was Ocean Waves, it contained conditioning oils, & my curls & waves were not only distinct, separate & beautiful , but they were soft to touch, shiny & resisted frizz. I could use the previous Ocean Waves formula to keep my style going for days by just spritzing some water & Ocean Waves to touch up and would not get tangles. With the Sea Waves product, my curls have to be re-soaked & conditioned every day, if anything, Sea Waves makes my hair more likely to tangle instead of less likely to tangle. Plus I have to use much more of the Sea Waves to get close to the curl separation I used to get with Ocean Waves. The finish is dull so I may as well use gel, mousse, or one of many products designed for curls. I looked all over to find this product & bought multiple bottles once I did (hoping it was the previous Ocean Waves formula or similar), but you can imagine my disappointment when I came to realize it was no different than the other 3 sea salt products (cheaper) I have tried when I could not find John Frieda. Please consider making the Ocean Waves formula again. I used it all the time and miss it horribly.Happy To Be Curly

I love sea salt spray especially in the summer time when its too hot and I'm too lazy to take the time to actually do my hair so it's either bun, ponytail, and let it go wild and throw in some John Freida ses salt spray. I love the beach wave look. This particular spray gives my hair the right volume needed to achieve my favorite summer look. I’ve used sea salt sprays before to good effect but not for a while. This one comes in a very appealing turquoise bottle and the sprayer works well, spritzing out just the right amount but I found it really did not work on my hair – no beach waves or texture which is odd because my wavy hair tend to take up products quite well. The scent too was a little strong for my liking which is disappointing for a product with a price point at the high end of the supermarket shelves. I actually found that it left my hair a bit dry and crunchy feeling but without the texture. My hair does tend to dry though so maybe it’s just not right for my hair type.magdalena.b

This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. It’s also very gentle on my hair and the smell is light and not overpowering. So impressed with this product and very glad to have found it. Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I bought this on a whim because I was like, what's the harm in another product supposedly for curly hair? Boy was I surprised!! I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. Finallyyyyy I found a product that actually hydrates my hair, makes it look great curly, and isn't making it frizzy or puffy. The only con about this product is that I really really wish they made versions of this product in larger bottles because the conditioner tends to go quickly especially if you have long curly hair like me. Having never tried a product like this before I wasnt sure what I was in for. Ive tried serums and blow drying sprays in the past that always seemed to make my hair flat, limp, or greasy feeling. On Valentines day my husband and I had done some yard work outside for a good part of the day. I had showered in the morning and later we decided to go out to dinner. I have been searching for a line of products to enhance my natural wavy/curly hair. I am a Cancer patient and lost all of my hair. Over the years prior to my Cancer as many of us I tried different products and processes that left my hair damaged. I realize I'm an outlier, but… although I didn't find Sublime Curl to be overly heavy or unacceptable, either I wasn't doing something correctly (like using too much or too little?) or my gray curly hair just doesn't like it. In general I'm not a big fan of additional products because they seem to dry my hair out and leave it looking dirty rather than having any appearing shiny and healthy. So while it did help define the curls a bit, it's not something I think I'd try again unless I discover the key to get the results I'd like. Tracee Ellis cut the check hunny! Lol honestly I tried this product on a whim, with no expectations and I was thoroughly impressed. The consistency of it is very creamy, smooth and rich. A little bit goes a long way. It's kind of pricey so I recommend starting off with your regular leaving conditioner that's water-based and let that product set on your hair, and then finish off with the styling cream! I don't really give out 5 stars, that says I do enjoy this product and have repurchased it. Sephora please carry the jumbo size for us Canadians who don't want to order from the US. I have tried many hair moisturizers and this is the best one that I have used so far. It is pricy but last several months. It moisturizes and defines my hair. I like to apply it on soaking wet freshly washed hair (in the shower) and then finger detangle my hair. To further define my hair I use the Pattern hair brush and focus on my ends. During the week I lightly wet my hair and then apply a bit more product. I do not apply product to my hair everyday, water is enough to reactivate the product. I have dry hair and wash my hair one to two times a week. To provide more info I have type 4 coily/curly hair that tends to be on the dryer side, I also have a lot of shrinkage.DianyT

I received this sample size product complimentary to try from Influenster and Moroccanoil for my honest review and opinion. I really liked the smell of this cream. My hair is kinda weird it’s curly underneath but on top it’s more wavy and frizzy. The parts where my hair is naturally more curly curled super pretty and looked great but the wavier pieces it didn’t change much. It felt a little heavy also but I may have just used to much product. I feel i would need to use it a few more times to give a more accurate review but right now I’d say it’s an average curl defining cream. I also let my hair air dry and I’m curious how it would look if I used a diffuser. I think I’ll end up buying a full size and give it a try. I LOVE this product and this whole brand. I was sent a sample of the curl defining cream and the smell won me over instantly. It just makes your hair smell so good. My husband thought it was my shampoo or conditioner, but he told me my hair smelt so good the first time I used this product. I even went and bought the perfect defense heat protector spray after they sent me this sample. I use it after I curl my hair with my straightener and it just makes my hair smell amazing, reduces any frizz left, and makes my curls bouncy. I also let my daughter use it and she loved it as well. She has super curly ringlets and used it after a shower and her curls looked so good. They were bouncy and frizzless. Received this as a free sample from Influenster. The sample size was a bit too small for me to get a full idea of how this product works for my hair specifically as I usually need a few weeks of use to make a fair judgement, but from a limited perspective, my takeaways are as follows: Smell- amazing, the standard MoroccanOil smell Texture- I prefer styling creams and used this in place of my current one and I did notice that this left a bit of a shell to my hair after use. If I had enough to try again, I may use a bit less product next time, though I didn’t use much. Seems pretty concentrated. If I had received a full bottle, I do think I’d continue to use it until it ran out but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing this item. Everyone’s hair is different and mine reacted sort of “meh.” Not bad but not impressive either. I think fans of the line will not regret the purchase, however I didn’t find that I had any urge to switch from my current styling cream (although this one smells so much better)roxanneh

I have extremely thick curly hair, and ive had a really hard time finding a product that allows me to wear my hair down throughout the day. i saw this product at my walmart and decided to try it out! it is the perfect texture and smells AMAZING! not to mention its vegan and cruelty free. I had been searching for the perfect curl cream for my daughter for years. Trying to find something that wasn’t crunchy or greasy led me to buy all kinds of random products. We literally tried so many different things! I bought this product just as something to throw in her Easter happy this year (mostly bc of the package color) I have never been more pleased with her curls! I ran out of my preferred gel that I get from my hair stylist. I was putting together my Ulta order, hadn't heard back from stylist about availability for product pick up, so I decided to sub for this product instead. I do the plop method, before I put my hair into an old t-shirt, I put in hair moisturizer and gel. This worked absolutely perfect for my previous gel (which is not sold on Ulta). Using the Mixed Chicks Curl Sculptor was disappointing. To be fair, I didn't realize it elongated curls, I love how coily my curls are, and it was disappointing to see them stretched out. That's on me, not MC. However, there was white residue throughout my hair in the morning and throughout the day until after I'd slept on between wash days. I have had dandruff before, and this was definitely the product, not my scalp. Most of the residue was towards the ends of my hair and stuck to my curls. My hair was also pretty sticky, too, and clumped together in a way that let many curls tangle faster than they usually would for my normal daily routine. I'm not buying this again, but maybe it works better for someone who doesn't do the plop method or mix in other products.Von

Im shocked by all the negative reviews. This was gifted to my by a friend and I didnt expect much from it since I had never tried the brand before, but its left my curls so beautiful. I use the SheaMoisture yogurt and manuka honey leave in spray and then scrunch this into sections of my hair and brush it through with a denman brush. My hair dries WAY faster when I use this and is defined yet still voluminous and lasts all week. I havent noticed it drying out my hair or anything (My hair gets really dry easily) but I use a hair mask once a week so maybe thats why. Also some people complained about the smell but tbh unless you hold it right up to your nose you really dont smell anythingKianny

I used the product after washing my hair. I used the Mixed Chicks shampoo and leave in conditioner before applying this product. It made my hair stiff and it left my hair flaky. I had little flakes of product in my hair. I prefer a cream that will make it soft.Missy

I have used Deva Curl for 9 years. I will venture out and try something else but never get the same results. I love B' leavin, No Poo, One Cond, Ultra defining Gel, and newly discovered styling cream. I got 5 days of hair down curls. I usually use the gel and it has great hold, the styling cream was a softer hold but very moisturizing and my curls stayed clumped and formed for days too. Now I can switch out. My hair is healthy from doing curly girl method for 4 years so that does make a difference. I have never had any issues with it. I have thick, healthy hair. I do clarify once or twice a month to keep my hair clean of build up, not that there is any. I do not know if formula has changed but I am still having a great experience with the products. It tames some frizz, but not all, and does not make my hair too sticky or crunchy.About my hair and my routine: To begin with, I have extremely curly, course hair that has daily large mounds of frizz on top and soft, thick curls on the bottom layers. My hair is extremely thick and voluminous, so much so that when I have it cut, I have to tell the salon to book two spots–and my hair’s only shoulder-length. I should note, my frizz is the type that can really only be tamed by divine intervention or a curling iron.Compounding a tricky hair situation, I am a very lazy sort of person who likes my makeup light and quick, and my hair care routine as short as absolutely possible, i.e., I usually let my hair air dry and leave it naturally curly. A bunch of good scrunches later, and I have a decently managed style. I do not notice any additional shine from this product, so I have to add a little oil as a finisher to get a pretty sheen. I’m not particularly sensitive to smells, and I honestly can’t remember what this smells like, but if it has a scent, it’s neither offensive to me, nor does it smell good enough for me to remember. This product does not weigh down my curls or leave them crunchy. I'm a Brazilian, living in the US for about 4 years, and I have been struggling to find the right products for my curly hair. I don't know why it took me so long to try the DevaCurl brand (maybe bc it is kinda pricey). So, now I'm using the whole line, and this is one of the best products in my opinion. It gives the curls soft control, letting the hair still have volume and definition at the same time. It is also great to control the frizz. Smells good, like lemon, and it is great to be used when you wash the hair, or for day afters when you decide to wet the hair to recover shape. What I appreciate about JVN is the way he encourages everyone to embrace what they've got going for them, even if they want to change it up to feel our best. My hair texture is long and what can only be described as ultra-frizzy. It likes to loop and curl back on itself in one giant mass; there are, like, right angles in my hair. This is especially trying as an Asian woman, where there is literally no representation of my hair type in our cultural beauty standard, though I'm certainly not the only Asian woman with this hair. The ideal is always straight, glossy, shiny hair, maybe sometimes permed wavy hair, but never this huge, heavy behemoth I've never made peace with in my 30+ years. If I'm straighten my hair, it takes at least an hour. It's at least 15 minutes to blow dry my hair, and it still is usually in a rather uncontrollable state/frizzier than ever afterwards. Pretty much the only times my hair looks the way I want is fresh out of the salon, after 1-2 hours of a professional wrestling with it. And even then, it's always been straightened, not really an enhancement of my natural curls. I was intrigued by this air dry cream after really liking the shine drops and reading how it has helped others who seem to have similar relationships to their hair as me. Could this finally help me feel good being myself? It has not disappointed. My hair has never been this soft and shiny without any heat styling. Being able to apply this cream and let my hair dry is an absolute dream. I do still need to use quite a bit and brush it through regularly as its drying, and I also still need to pair it with a serum. But at least I don't need my hair dryer. I'm also not a huge fan of the tangerine smell since I have a sensitivity to citrus scent, but it doesn't really stick around. Additionally, I've noticed that I can go longer between washes. I was introduced to this brand through the influenster program, they sent this to me to try for free in exchange for an authentic review. I am a hairstylist who uses a lot of great products everyday and I love to air dry my own hair cause it’s super wavy and dries nicely with the right kind of air dry product or texture spray. I had no expectations because I had never heard anything about the brand, the packaging is really modern and nice and the air dry cream is packaged in a similar way to a tube of hair color just much bigger, It’s a good size tube of product and you truly don’t need a lot of product at all it’s concentrated. I am a tough critic and I don’t judge lightly when it comes to hair products, and instantly I could tell this was a great product that was well formulated and had an intentional styling purpose, from this day forward this is my holy grail product for my hair, it did everything I wanted it to do and more. I have coarse hair, very dry looking when I blow dry, my mother says it looks like hay which I get offended about but it truly does, it’s just super thick and coarse and has always felt dehydrated. Typically when I air dry I do my hair soaking wet, and apply a ton of different products for different reasons, one to hydrate, one to defrizz, one for control and one for enhancing my wave pattern. This product is genius, I don’t know if any other product I have ever tried on myself that has suited my hair type so perfectly. My hair dried without frizz, and it gave me beautiful texture and perfectly beachy waves without feeling like I had anything in my hair at all. it left my hair feeling soft and hydrated and also with a great style and volume at the roots. I’m so impressed and I’m so intrigued to learn about the rest of this line and use it on my clients. This is the best for hair like mine, I love it. I have had thick, dry, curly hair for so long. I can’t count on two hands how many different products, shampoos, conditioners, etc. etc. that I have tried over the years. None of them ever seemed to successfully hydrate my hair and give me the ability to style it. Beyond that, I found that most products would make my hair extremely weighed down, which is a problem since my hair is already extremely thick and dense. On the FIRST DAY of trying the Air Dry Cream (paired with the Nurture shampoo and conditioner) one of my best friends asked me if I had product in my hair because it looked “really good!” I always have product in my hair, so it’s funny that she asked me this question specifically on the day that I started using the Air Dry Cream. Then, another one of my friends saw me 30 minutes later and asked if I had done something different with my hair and complimented how it looked. I never get compliments on my hair, so I thought this was so strange. THEN, we went to dinner and a random person complimented my hair again! 3 compliments on my very first day of using the Air Dry Cream! This product does a fantastic job of hydrating my curls and keeping them frizz-free all day, which is no easy feat to accomplish.
