Bought this for my acne hyperpigmentation after seeing all the great reviews. I have hormonal acne which usually means that I break out on a monthly based around that time of the month. However, I got prescribed medication for this earlier this year and I barely every break out anymore. So I introduced this serum into my skincare now that it's clearer to start working on those marks. I first tried this for about 3 weeks and was breaking out constantly so I gave it a break and thought maybe it's another serum I started around the same time. So I waited a month to try this again and I put some twice in a row at night only and woke up with crazy acne. I literally take medication that internally controls my acne so I knew what I had used externally was the problem. Not sure what it is with the serum but it was the culprit of my random breakouts. I wish it had worked for me but I couldn't try it long enough, I don't have the time to deal with bumps right now and don't really want new scarring either.Nicolep
This is an update to my review in August. My first bottle was purchased in June of 2021. I had EXTREMELY bad hyperpigmentation. When I used the combo of the Niacinamide toner and this serum, in 6-8 weeks, my skin was completely cleared up. After the serum was gone, I used the toner a few times a week, because it was all I needed with my clear skin. I’m a picker when I’m under stress, so I purchased another set last month and I knew after a few weeks, something was definitely different. The results weren’t the same. I know this formula has changed. I’m sure you don’t care, but this was the first serum that I found that worked for African American dark skin. Reading some of the reviews, I’m quite sure that you don’t listen to your customers, as I see plenty have stated that they’ve experienced minimal results and you haven’t changed it back to the original formula. Although the claim by the company is that you’ve improved the formula, you didn’t. Sometimes, stronger isn’t better, especially when there’s a breakdown in the quality of this new formulation. I have hyperpigmentation along with acne scars so I was excited and curious about using this. I don't love the strong lavender smell it has honestly but after trying it for over a week, I decided it's something I can put up with because I have noticed a improvement with my skin. I was afraid the scent would irritate my sensitive skin but it didn't. I was skeptical about how moisturizing it would be because of the texture of it and because you apply a thin layer on. I used to to the Palmer's Acne Soap bar, but during pandemic I had trouble getting more. So I tried Neutrogena products (the water based line since I have OILY skin) my skin got WORSE. I had very big breakouts all over my face and neck. It hurt and it was terrible. I ready your skin has to purge when you switch facecare products. I kept looking to see when the acne var would be available again. So in the meantime I got SO many Palmer's products. I made an appointment with a dermatologist to laser my dime sized sun spot. Luckily they didn’t have an appt till 6 weeks. In the meantime I ordered Moderna “just to see” if it might produce any results. I started using it a week ago and I’m amazed! The tan dime sized sun spot is fading. Every morning I wake up and see it’s lighter and lighter. I use it twice a day and only on the spot. The first time I applied I had a bit of sensitivity. I used some Calendula cream and the redness went away. After that, I’ve had no sensitivity issues. Already I can use my Mac Fit powder and you can’t see it. That was not the case before. I just ordered the exfoliating serum to use with the Meladerm. I’m cancelling my Dr appointment for laser treatment.
After 4 months of using meladerm every day for my melasma I can finally see the results!!! My melasma it’s almost gone! It takes time but the cream works! When I started using the cream I noticed some breakouts on my skin that almost made me wanted to stop using it but thankfully I didn’t. The breakouts eventually went away and the results start to show up. You need to be very patient, this cream doesn’t work overnight but if you keep using it, it will do the job. I also used it in the winter time so I avoided any exposure to the sun, and I think that helped too.

I am one of those people who has always had bright, clear skin save for the occasional hormone-related spot a few times per year, However, one year before my wedding, I began breaking out on my chin with deep, painful cystic pimples. After about four or five months, they finally subsided but my normal olive skin tone was left with dark, purple marks. On top of that, I had quite a large spot of sun-damage on the top of my forehead. After extensive research into skin lightening products, I came across Maladerm and decided to give it a try. I chose Maladerm primarily because it seemed to be one of the only skin lightening products that did not contain hydroquinone. I began incorporating it six months before my wedding in both morning my night time skin-care routine. As some of the other reviewers have said, I didn't exactly notice real results right away. But I stuck with applying it religiously to my forehead and chin only and after the first three months I noticed the darker pigmentation was starting to fade away! By six months, the spots on my chin were gone completely and the stubborn forehead spot had finally faded to the point that I was comfortable to go make-up free. The day of my wedding, with the help of a light foundation, there was no trace of spots on my forehead! I will say that when I stopped using Maladerm, the forehead hyperpigmentation started to come back even though I apply SPF 50 during the day, every day. That said, I will probably be a life-time Maladerm user, which is just fine with me. We can't always fight the effects of time and environment but we can find products that really work. Maybe this review gonna help to know this product because looks like nobody uses it. That's some info about it : you can choose the one for oily or for normal skin. I am very surprised how good this cream is. Description on the package says- hydroquinone skin bleaching agent for the gradual fading of dark, brownish spots. Ingredients- vitamin E, alpha hydroxy acid, contains also a sunscreen, which is a big plus for me. You will begin to see results in 2 weeks. This works the best if you use it as a spot treatment, so apply a tip on every dark spot on the face or on your body. Bad thing is that hydroquinone may cause a temporary uptick in redness or dryness at first, especially if you have a sensitive skin. This stuff WORKS. I struggle from pcos. I have many dark spots on my face and neck from tweezing and doing hair removal. I've been plagued by sensitive/reactive/difficult skin for most of my adult life and received diagnoses that range from acne through peri-oral dermatitis to, most recently, rosacea. Even dermtologists don't seem to be sure what the problem is. Al I can definitely say is that azealic acid is great at calming things down. It's not miraculous: it has taken more than six months' of usage for me to see a marked improvement but, in my opinion, it works to reduce inflammation, smooth texture and even pigmentation. I apply it (generously) only at night because it is just one layer too many during the daytime, under sun protection cream and foundation. It may have a quicker effect for those who use for an entire 24 hours. For reference, I can't tolerate any form I've so far tried of retinolid but the azealic acid has never irritated my skin.. I use it in combination with niacinimide on spot-prone areas. A month agao I stopped taking the long term antibiotic I was prescribed for its anti-inflammatory rather than anti-microbial effect because it never worked very consistently or well on its own, and because I was worried about the side effects. This has been a life saver while pregnant. I haven't had much acne in my life but when I got pregnant it seemed to flare up worse than ever. A lot of the other products I would use for other skincare concerns or sporadic acne I was unable to use while pregnant. I first bought the smaller size which is only 10 dollars then the large size for 20. It does not get any better than that. The large tube has lasted me two months so far and still has a ton left in it. I definitely can't use this product alone because it can go on a little dry., I do have dryer skin though. As a preface, I'm trying to cut out actives from my routine that are for proactive prevention, and am substituting those for actives that address problems I currently have with my skin as my skin is sensitive. I bought this and used it every day for a week when I started breaking out on my forehead, chin, and cheeks. Most of my acne is on my cheeks, but breaking out on my forehead and chin was new so I knew it was because of this product. I really want to love this since I know azelaic acid is good for both active acne and acne scars. I followed the instructions on the box and applied this after serums and before moisturizers. The only other active I use at the moment is niacinamide (and propolis, not sure if that counts as an active ingredient), see my routine below for more details. This product really works! I had a few acne scars and dark sun spots on my face. At first I thought I needed to do some sort of facial peel or something to lighten my skin back to its original color, but I bought this cream just to try it out. That probably one of the best things I could've done. I read some reviews that suggested to wear it twice a day, but I tried just tried wearing it at night. Ive been using this product for 2 weeks now. I was hoping to see results within the first week and I did! 2/5 scars have improved since I started using this product. I am a woman of color and used this product for about two months to spot treat acne scars. At FIRST, the scars started fading but the lightening spread past the area of application, and my face became more sensitized. I lowered usage to every other day, and then once a week. I was aware that my skin would start peeling but after the peel a splotch of skin on my cheek was significantly lighter than the rest of my face (Reminder – I was only applying to skin that was darker as a result of my acne scars), and this area expanded past where I applied the product. This hypopigmented part was a rough texture that constantly peeled. There was another spot on my face that suffered this texture as well.Six months, multiple moisturizers, a visit to an esthetician, and another visit to my doctor later my skin is finally on the right track. I would up having to use products that post-procedure patients use and had to work on replenishing my moisture barrier as the product thoroughly ruined it. The consistency of this product applies well, not sticky and like the way they make my skin feel. I’ve had irritation with other vitamin C, this product didn’t not cause any and no stinging feeling. If you're serious about it you need to start a regiment.people who are not serious about it and put it on every so often are the one's that usually have the negative comments .For someone who's using it for the first time I would recommend that you ease into it ,you are lightening your skin without doctor supervision. Start off with the cream first give it about 2 months or until you feel like you skin is getting immune and then move on to the cream plus oil. Even when I start off with the cream I do rougher areas like elbows/ Knuckles and then move on to softer areas like under eyes top tip (no one wants to look like a raccoon). Based on what I see within 2 weeks of using the products you rather be safe with a burnt looking elbow than a burnt looking face .For my fast and even results. I would recommend for anyone whose first starting out to get a really good exfoliant for your skin or a hand loofah. You are chemically peeling the first layer of your epidermis causing it to be darker. if not removed you will notice certain areas being darker.so by having a good exfoliant you are allowing the fresh new skin to come through a lot quicker. depending where you're living you do want to get sunblock at a high level and apply it as needed ( I prefer starting this regiment from Autumn to winter when the sun is less harsh and I don't have to walk around looking like I have oily skin from the sunblock like spf 75). you do need to get a good face wash or body wash not all soaps are the same and will cause your skin to get darker depending on the ingredients the best ones that I find to work better or ones that contain salicylic acid. lastly and more important the chemicals that are in this ingredient will weaken your skin elasticity causing stretch marks hence you do need Vitamin C.I'm not saying eat an orange I'm saying get a vitamin C oil before or after you put the product on to make sure you're getting enough elasticity in your skin. After I wash my skin I usually put vitamin C oil on and don't put on this cream for at least 4 or 5 hours given enough time to soak into my skin. Growing Up Jamaican I would see my mom uses product lik this one plus others,i always hated the fact that she had spider veins and stretch marks from overstretching her skin from beaching. she has to get surgery to get those spider veins removed. It has been 4 months since I started using Dark Spot. Something really amazing happened. Before I came to America, I lived in another country with less sunlight than here.
