I like this product. I've been using it for a while. It definitely has a good hold on your hair without making it look like there's anything in your hair. I would recommend maybe adding some natural ingredients to make it smell a little better, if possible. Also, I don't know who did the wrapping, but filling up the entire box with confetti paper for a small container of this cream pomade was not the move. If it's like an environmentally friendly thing, I get it, but find a new option. The confetti paper is a mess and leaves behind a lot of paper powder all over everything inside the box and then it got on my hands and on the floor.S Merchant

This rich yet lightweight cream spreads easily and provides a light hold with low shine as described. Its aroma is quite similar to Fiber and its performance is what I would imagine a light gold version of that product to be. This would be great for medium to coarse hair in short styles that seek natural control without the need for major sculpting or manipulating. I NEVER write reviews, but this product has changed my hair life. I get stopped in the store by strangers telling me they love my hair. Like with all products, I think there are things you can do to increase its success, the most important: blow dry it with a round brush. I do not even use a flat iron until day two or three, and then only to straighten some of the ends in the back. I am down to fixing my hair 2-3 times a week. On days two and three, I literally wake up, spray dry shampoo at the roots and dry conditioner at the ends, comb it, use the flat iron if absolutely necessary (usually only necessary on the under hair in the back), and hairspray. This product makes my thin lifeless hair look super thick! It is by far the best hair product I have ever used. I have been so impressed, I have invested in many other Drybar products.leavinsk

I have pretty thin, very straight hair. Its a great red color, but its usually pretty lifeless. I wanted to give this product a try, and I'm glad I only bought the mini version. It didn't work for me at all, which isn't uncommon with my hair. The first day I used it, it rained (my hair goes dead flat with humidity), so I gave it another try on a different day. However, the second day, there was no change. At first, once I finished blowdrying my hair, I thought it would actually work, but the results were mostly just from having just dried my hair. By the time I made it to my office, my hair was just as flat as ever, if not more so due to the presence of a product. I have very flat, fine hair. It is hard for me to get volume. This worked so much better than any other product I've tried. Put this in my hair after it was towel dried and then dried my hair upside down and BAM my hair had to much volume and also helped with texture to help my curls hold which my hair does not hold curls well either. First off I have used Redken's products off and on for the last 20 years and was a big fan of the mens' line. I have coarse textured hair and had already tried both the texture and wax pomades before this one. I have no idea why this is marketed as pomade, it's more of a smoothing cream with no hold, I would have returned it but I had to use so much I'm sure that wouldn't be possible. Redken's mens' line used to be effective and long-lasting but clearly, they have cut corners and are using cheaper ingredients while raising the cost for the consumer. I know that for many these products work well but for anyone with thick or curly hair, I would strongly recommend avoiding Redken Brews.CoarseHair

I thought this was supposed to be a light hair spray where it can hold your hair while leaving a nice soft flexible touch. It stiffened my hair quite a bit which I did not like. It is also hard to wash it off unless you use a conditioner to do it which I do not normally use since I already have soft thin hair.Sabby

This does not have a 'variable hold' or 'incredibly flexible finish' as the product description claims at the time of this review. It is essentially a spray gel. It has an incredibly strong alcohol smell. It takes a decent bit of pressure on the spray button to release the product and it comes out in a strong concentrated blast. It's not really suitable for spraying directly on your hair like a hairspray because of this. It is better used spraying first onto a brush or comb or on your hands then combining through your hair. It finishes just like a spray gel or hair spray in that your hair will be dry and crunchy. Also only a few hours after combing a not insignificant amount of the product through my hair it has almost completely disintegrated to the point its like I have nothing in my hair at all. So you will have a hair spray like finish which wears off after a few hours. I would not recommend this product.Andrew K

I've been searching for years for a gel that keeps my middle aged head of hair looking full without that cheap shiny look. Hairspray just didn't have the holding power and would get sticky during the day no matter what premium brand I tried. My barber in Florida recommended this to me and I'm hooked for life. Well holy crap! This is a funky product! You pump some into your hands and scrunch for some easy, sexy volume and texture. The scent is great too. I bought this for $9 USD at Boxycharm PopUp and it is so worth it. My second day hair looks like q magnificent 70s rockstar. I find it doesn't weigh hair down or make it look greasy. I haven't used this product in a long time. I do remember it very clearly. I bought this at one of the discounted or liquidated stores. If I remember right it was either t.j. Maxx or Burlington. It is very Vivid in my imagination that I was trying to do everything to get rid of it. I know it stayed in my downstairs bathroom with a little bit left in the bottle. I hated the residue that it left on my hair and the lack of my hair feeling clean after using this. My ex-husband was very bad about using the last of a product once it got down to the bottom of it. It sat in his shower downstairs until one day I used the last of it. I always thought it was a product for men and that was a reason that I never bought it again. Anyone who dyes their hair copper knows that copper pigmented hair dye will not stay onto the hair particle for long. A brand new copper color hair do will last about a week or two before it fades into a honey brown color, and eventually a yellow-brown color. With this in mind, there are products that will help to prolong the dye coloration and slow down the fade process, and I turn to Redken shampoo every time​ to get the job done whenever I need to prolong my copper dye. I use this along with the Redken conditioner Color Extend and shampoo three x a week, conditioner once a week, and my copper pigmented color will last about 2 months before it fades onto a honey brown and eventually to a yellowish brown by the 4 months mark. Loved how light it was, left only a light cast which was great for my thin-but a lot of it hair. That said, if you want to smell as strongly as an Italian mob boss, this is for you. If not, this isn't. The smell is so strong that it made my eyes water, and it never really dissipated when it dried (I live in Seattle where it mists a lot so the smell just followed me around). I absolutely love this hair gel for my very frizz prone naturally wavy hair. I have used it for many years and it never lets me down. I alternate this with the flax seed gel depending on the hold and the humidity outside. After I apply the curl cream, I comb through, scrunch with hands, apply this gel, then scratch with a microfiber towel. I don’t touch it until it air dries or I diffuse it. I find this holds my waves very well and doesn’t weigh it down. It gives definition, and is not crunchy after I scrunch it out. I almost didn't buy this because of the review that said it smells like rubbing alcohol and the one that says it flakes off. First of all, it smells a bit like pine and when your boyfriend's cologne rubs off on you a bit. It's really a nice smell. Secondly, it hasn't flaked off at all (i've had it in my hair for a full day now), and it holds (I used aveda be curly cream curler first then scrunched this in my hair before diffusing, then a few sprtiz of aveda harispray). I literally look like i just came out a salon minus the haircut! So I really like this product. I have pretty much always stuck to matte, no shine hair products, since my hair is naturally black and also very fine, so anything with shine to it just tends to look greasy in my hair. But I decided to give this a whirl, and I'm glad that I did. So first off, the product description is that it has a "natural" look, and it's pretty apt, since it neither adds shine, nor mattifies. The product also claims that it's a good pre-styler, and that it cocktails well with other products. As for using it as a pre-styler, I did find it a bit heavy, at least for my fine hair. However, I will say that it works fantastic on its own or with other products. It's not greasy, it's not heavy, and it allows you to manipulate your hair without setting hard or too quickly. The hold level is shown as being a 4 out of 5, which I will say I think is a bit off, as I would say this is a 3 going on 4. It's best suited to messier styles, because while it will give you good control, it's not going to defy gravity. The scent is pretty subtle and not something you are going to really notice, for better or worse. Overall, I would have given this a 4.5 rating, but the site doesn't allow that, so I gave it a 5Joel H.

use this as a pre-styler before blow drying. gives thickness and control to hair before adding a finisher. i will say that it is key on the level of dampness your hair is before applying; if too wet the product i find will come off as shiny and greasy feeling.. sometimes i will blow dry a bit before applying and then continue with the blow drying process. also, love the smell of the meraki paste.Tyler G.

Ive worked my way through dozens of brands of hair products over the years and this is one of the best for a few reasons. What first attracted me to this was the smell. My barber uses it and it smells amazing like others have said, almost like pineapple. I thing it works best with short hair but it has excellent hold and doesnt feel too sticky or greasy once in. I have tried various hair products over time, but for my thin hair which gets whipped around in any wind, Ill stick with this product. Its great as it stays good for the whole day, doesnt leave residue and is able to be reshaped so easily. It is not always easy to find in stores or hairdressers in Australia, so I just go online and have it delivered to the door without any fuss whatsoever. A great product supplied by a great company. However, they must have changed the formula as the scent was better in the old days.Also, this is now one of the greasiest hair products that Ive used. I think using butter would look less greasy. It is sticky, stiff, and crunchy. I found that using a much smaller amount than the directions recommend, eliminates the stickiness. However, it’s still stiff & crunchy, which I find rather disappointing. Miracle Blowdry does provide good volume, but isn’t very humidity resistant. On a more positive note, it has a pleasant fragrance. Despite the fact I gave the product 3 stars, I will likely purchase it again since I do like the volume it adds to my hair.Jodi B.

I have NO idea why on earth this product was highly recommended for my extremely baby fine, thin hair when I asked for a light mousse. I was talked into this garbage. When I got out of the shower tonight with freshly washed hair, I sprayed this junk very sparingly! And immediately after I finished blow drying my hair felt DIRTIER than what it was BEFORE my shower! I have a Dyson and I blow-dry my hair every time I shower, but on certain days I definitely started to notice my hair getting frizzy and I was looking for a product to protect it from the constant heat use and tame the frizz. I received this product to test from influenseter, and I was really excited because it sounded like it would be helpful in protecting and taming my hair. I used this product on slightly damp hair (wrapped my hair up in a towel for awhile before using) and then blow dried.I definitely noticed a difference in the smoothness and frizziness of my hair – it seemed like the flyaways were much more tame and I had a sleeker overall stye. Compared to blowdrying damp hair without any product on it, my hair feels so much nicer and just looks more polished, which is exactly what I was looking for. Also, the bottle that it comes in is really convenient – you just twist the bottom and squeeze so you get the right amount of product without any hassle. I also prefer the balm to the spray version of this, has i feel like I can control how much product I use and more evenly comb it throughout my damp hair. Overall, I really liked the result and definitely am excited to see if the Keratin/protein aspect strengthens and repairs my hair over time with continued use. Would buy again!karmx258

I love the way this makes my hair look and feel. More than my Olaplex No. 6 that I’m trying to use up so that I can use this product full-time. I have wavy hair that frizzes up and ruins my blowout if it’s humid or if I’m sweating due to the heat. This keeps my hair smooth in those conditions, which my Olaplex and Color Wow Dream Coat couldn’t do. An added bonus was that it gives my hair a little bit of weight (not to be confused with weighed down). I’m always looking for volume to compensate for my gradual hair loss. But because I lack that density, a breeze or just normal movement can make my hair look messy, if that makes sense. This balm helps keep my hair looking neat and almost thickened. This Pomade was recommended to me by a barber after asking what they had that wasn't oily and didn't LOOK like a hair product was in my hair. He put a bit in my hair and I was sold. He was selling it for $19, so I passed at the time hoping to find it cheaper (I did, at Walmart). This is the first such hair styling product I have used in 20 years and I am extremely happy I discovered it. All those nasty gel-like hair products are just not for good people – or good for people. I HATE the gel look. It's terrible, believe me, you know better than me, look it up… This is a matte cream that feels dry in my hands and hair. Not squishy, jelly or gooey and clear. It's a white cream of which you only have to use the most minute amount to get the desired results. Put a dab on a couple fingers and run it through your hair. You can also keep styling all day. It is such that you don't get that "wet" gel look, which is why you could keep playing with your hair throughout the day. You're not ruining the way it looks. It's a bit pricy but it's really the best – and you don't have to use a lot at a time, so it lasts quite a while. It smells awesome. I love Redkin's hair products, their shampoos and conditioners specifically being my most preferred. I was very shocked to try this product to realize almost immediately how it was not going to work. I attempted to try different ways of apply and molding it into my hair for three different applications, but all resulting in clumpy, flat, and uncontrollable hair within and hour. I try to use different types of hair products for my hair but this is one I can't use again. I was using the Redken manuver wax for years. Loved that product. This one does have as strong of a hold, has more shine, and doesn't smell as good, albeit it doesn't smell bad. It is fine for short hair, but if you use it on hair longer than approximately 2 inches, it won't hold your hair very well without some other supplemental product. It really does not flake at all. Even on days when things are too busy and I don’t wash when I need to but my hair needs a refresh, so I just wet my hair a little and apply the gel on top of old gel. The build up is negligible! It’s a life saver. One of the biggest differences with this gel is that when I put it in freshly washed hair, it doesn’t leave a hard cast either. I have fine, low density, 4c hair shaped in a TWA. I usually wear wash and go with kinky curly custard (hold lasts 3-4 days). This product gave me a soft hold, lasted 1 day. The next day my hair felt hard and looked frizzy. I am a proponent of trying the product multiple ways until you see how it works best for you. So for my wash n go's, I've tried using it alone, w/ Mousse Def Foam as a topper, or w/ leave in conditioner as a base. Nothing kept the hold longer than the 1 day, the leave in conditioner did keep it soft on day 2-3. I havent tried this for my twists or twist out.Cleo

This was my first styling product from The Doux and I was not disappointed. Big Poppa is a smooth gel formulated to use on its own for moisture and curl control. I used this for a wash n go and got shiny, moisturized, curls that lasted for a week. It also has a really nice tropical fruit smell. Definitely a natural hair gem!
