I was looking for new tyres for my bike and decided on Schwalbe Maraton Plus for their puncture resistance. I have a Halfords lass than a mile from my house so I checked and they were in stock. However, I wasn't sure on the sizing as the widest ones stocked were slightly narrower than the markings on my existing ones suggested. I intended to order for click and collect due to Covid restrictions but decided to walk up to the store so I could ask for advice. I couldn't have been happier with the service I received. The member of staff who served me was both polite and knowledgeble and put my mind at rest that the tyres I had in mind were easily wide enough for my rims. The tryres were marked up at a higher price than on the website but the store were happy to match the online price. I made my purchase, went home and fitted the tyres. Some say these tyres are difficult to fit, I tied a piece of cord around the rim and tyre for the 'tight' last few inches of fitting, and then just pushed the tyre on with my fingers; job done. These tyres weigh approx. 960g. and whilst that's some 230 grammes more per tyre than the originals on my Crossfire 2; I haven't noticed any increase in resistance whilst cycling. After about 120 miles, no punctures to date, they're nice and quiet, with no perceptible effect on handling either. The reflective strip around the bead is a very smart idea, especially if you're a night-time cyclist, and the tread depth is more than the original tyres. The bike handles well on tarmac surfaces, and not too bad on gravel and mud, they are after-all a sort of one size fits all tyre. Overall, I'm happy with these tyres; and hopefully I'll get a few thousand miles out of them this year. I had intended to replace the Schwalbe Tyrago rear tyre which had been on my e-bike from the start with one the same as it had given good service and had an ideal tread pattern for my needs. Unfortunately, that model was no longer available, but the Marathon Plus seemed like a good alternative as according to the manufacturer's description and customer reviews it seemed like a pretty tough hybrid tyre with good puncture resistance and is e-bike rated. I would have preferred a more knobbly tread pattern at the sides for extra grip on the odd muddy track, but since most of my riding is done on firm forest and estate roads as well as tarmac, that wasn't a priority. The fit on the rim was reassuringly snug and it centred itself nicely. I just managed to fit it without tyre levers, which reduces the risk of nipping the tube. So far I've only ridden a couple of hundred km on it, mostly in dry conditions, so it's too early for a performance report, but the obvious quality of manufacture and good fit means that I feel confident inflating it to max pressure to minimise rolling resistance.AlanBadger

I’ve been a big fan of the GP5000 TL and thought the new GP5000 “S” would be EVEN better. But instead I’ve found some microholes in the sidewalls after dipping whole wheel/tyre in my kitchen sink! How’s the tubeless fluid meant to reach the sidewall close to the rim edge? Probably would seal if I added a minimum of 120ml or so of fluid but what’s the point of spending $120 per tyre for the “lightest” tubeless around, only to weight in up with more fluid than a tube would weigh? And not to mention the hours and hours of messing around changing valves and redoing wheel after wheel thinking it was something else! So yeah moral of the story, I will try another brand next as unfortunately im now scarred. Hope this review saves some others time & heartache I’ve been through. Cheers & happy cycling folks!Nik S.
ORDER DATE: 01/05/2020 ORDER NUMBER: X1761130 I bought a continental GP5000 tire as a continuation of the great satisfaction from the continental GP4000 ii, reading the excellent reviews, to use it as a rear tire. I ordered them in May, I was late to receive them due to covid and I finally placed it in early July. Unfortunately in a very short time and with minimal use, 500 kilometers, the product in a routine walk on asphalt was torn to the side and unfortunately destroyed. There are no guarantees for the tires as I understood after contacting continental. My company replied "The damage to your tire has been caused by sharp road debris and is not a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately this is just bad luck "showing clearly that a material failure in one of the most critical parts of the bike for safety is due to misfortune and that its responsibility is limited to selling expensive and well-publicized tires that are torn sideways" by the wind " . Sigmasport was initially offered to offer me a tire at a better price. In the first choice I made "vittoria rubino" he offered me a price much higher than the competition, which he improved after a market research I did but not satisfactorily. In a second proposal I made for the continental GP5000, thinking that I would have a more favorable price on the tire that was damaged, the OFFER was 8 euros more expensive than the competition per tire with free shipping. I preferred to buy 2 tires from another store with 5 euros shipping. Unfortunately my opinion on sigmasports, in terms of customer response after purchase, is not the best (read also my experience with ENDURAFS260 PRO BIB SHORT shorts). I'm really unlucky with orders from sigmasports. In summary, I believe that the continental GP5000 Folding tire is an expensive, very good tire with a big problem on the side walls. Searching the web, you will find many bad reviews in this area. If you want a safe tire above all, choose something else.ajohnie
I had a really good experience with the previous model (GP 5000 TL) in a 28mm on my Cannondale Topstone gravel bike, mounted on a DT Swiss CR 1600 Spline road wheelset. I'd been waiting for REI to stock the updated version, in a 32 mm, but figured I'd go ahead and try the 700 x 30mm as soon as they showed in stock. The GP 5000 S TR mount even a bit easier than the previous mode and form a very strong / secure seal. Setting up for tubeless was quick and painless, and after a couple hundred miles on them I'm very happy.charlie_halloween

I was looking for a pair of non-expensive tires to replace the OEM tires which had given me two flats in the 24 hours. I saw the OEM tires were torn, and the size was 700-38C. The internal rim width is 19mm. I ended up purchasing a pair of 700-35(37) C tires. The clerk explained that the 35 is the internal width of the tire and the 37 is external. Those two new Continental tires fit perfectly with the rims and look much narrower than the original 38C. I like narrow tires since I mostly ride on the pavement. The most important is the tires have anti-puncture belts and I have no more flat tires since then.
I own these tires in 37-622 and 47-622 sizes and have been very satisfied. The performance is amazing for the price. I commute year around and ride on paved and unpaved surfaces, and they perform well, wet or dry. The sidewalls are thick, however, and have begun to crack after about 1.5 years of use on the 37-622s. I nevertheless bought them in 47-622 for another bike. Be aware that these run narrow in comparison to Schwalbe tires (or maybe Schwalbe tires run wide). The 47-622 are far narrower than Schwalbe 47-622 on the same rim, and about the width of a Schwalbe 42-622 , and the 37-622 tires seem more like Schwalbe 32-622. Continental Ride Tour 700c x 47 was to replace the lighter and fast-wearing 700c x 45 WTB Riddler tyres that came with my new gravel/commuting bike. Delivery was as projected. Installation was a breeze. The Ride Tour was almost twice as heavy as the Riddler, but I felt speed was not much reduced. Additional benefit: 10-15% softer ride.Charlie

I've been using these tires over the past month and find the product is of good quality. The ride is smooth and grips the road nicely. I feel confident leaning into the corners with these tires. If you're choosing a wider tire (for example 28mm) ensure your bike can accommodate a larger mm tire. A 28mm tire inflated can reach 30mm and may rub against the fork/frame.Alberto
I'm on my second set of Rubino Pro now and I'm very satisfied. They roll very well (prob one of the best performing ones) and are relatively light. After ~6,000km I got 3 punctures in quick succession on the back tyre. I then decided to swap for a new one and the punctures stopped. Unless it's a coincidence, it's fair to say they last about that long (they prob could go further, but more punctures would likely ensue). They go well on tarmac, bike paths and dirt roads.Marcos

These things handle and ride extremely well, hardly any punctures, BUT!!!!!! they get LOTS of little cracks on the colored section and have a consistent lLLLLLLONG crack along the circumference of the tire close to the rim.

Originally bought this tire because one of mine was going bald. I liked it so much that I wound up buying a second one a couple of weeks later. I have not had a puncture since I bought these tires and I’ve been riding out in the snow and some ice as well. Obviously they are not ice wheels, but they do well in the snow. They are difficult to get on but when they are on they are super snug and feel very safe and secure. MEC Price was also lower than Amazon. Which is a nice feature. I'm just a casual weekend cyclist. Put these on a used Cannondale moutain bike (no suspension). They fit great and ride awsome compared to the knobbies they replaced. My bike is used mainly by my son to commute to school and he says now the ride is so much easier and faster. They were a little tough to get on the rims, had to borrow a set of pry bars, but they went on considering I haven't changed a tire in over 30 years it went pretty smoothly. I bought these mainly because they have the reflective side walls because it gets dark so fast in the fall and my son is riding on busy roads it makes him highly visable from the side. I bought these expecting the worse when it comes to install, however it was no issue at all installing on 700x28c rim. Was able to do it mostly by hand, then using plastic levers 1 inch at a time I was able to easily get the last bit on without damaging the tube or the tire. The tires are very comfortable (inflated to 90psi) and have amazing grip compared to regular racing tires. The reflective sidewall is a great feature, as is the puncture resistance. As mentioned they are heavy compared to regular road racing tires, however, I did not notice any worse rolling resistance. I highly recommend these tires! Great value for the price!1101

I bought this tyre in 30c and did a tubeless set up with it. It blew off the wheel rims at only 70PSI, thankfully while stationery after I had done 70km. I refitted it back home and same thing happened, this time at 65PSI. I raised the issue with Sigma and they blamed everything except the tyre such as the tape etc… I've been riding tubeless for 5 years and never experienced anything like this before. Have put different pair of tubeless tyres on since and absolutely no problems at all, so I can only presume this tyre from Vittoria was supplied damaged.Jason M
Used these for over a year, run with latex tubes and no issues. Have taken them on unsealed roads (although chose my line carefully) without issue. Feel more supple than conti 5000’s, seem to grip in the wet but not as supple as veloflex clinchers but then the veloflex are far less puncture resistant so it’s about checks and balances. No such thing as a perfect tyre. Easy to get on and off the rim without tools. Happily purchased these again and recommended to friends who like them too.Matt
Let’s be honest the tan walls are a big selling point, they look ace! I had to grapple with the tyres to get them in the rim but got there in the end. I’ve been using them for a month now and they are super smooth and grippy, best road tyres I’ve used! My local bike shop put some of these on one of my bikes a few years ago. Since then I got kitted out with my own bike tools and bike lift and do all my maintenance myself. These tires are a great combo of grip, decent rolling resistance and price. I love the reflective side walls as well. I have only really worn out one tire since then. The several others I’ve bought have all been terminated by Montreal’s ghetto street conditions- so I can’t blame the tires.Christopher

I bought these expecting the worse when it comes to install, however it was no issue at all installing on 700x28c rim. Was able to do it mostly by hand, then using plastic levers 1 inch at a time I was able to easily get the last bit on without damaging the tube or the tire. The tires are very comfortable (inflated to 90psi) and have amazing grip compared to regular racing tires. The reflective sidewall is a great feature, as is the puncture resistance. As mentioned they are heavy compared to regular road racing tires, however, I did not notice any worse rolling resistance. I highly recommend these tires! Great value for the price!1101
My 38 year old mtn. bike is now a city cruiser. Back in its day it wasn't that great as a mountain/trail bike the thing has too long of a wheelbase and all you can do is spin your back wheel on any sort of a dirt trail climb, so now it's a city bomber. The Continental Contact Cruiser is just fat enough for you to air it down and have a cush ride on pavement or you can air them up a little more and go fast if you got a commute. They are way better than wearing out a set of knobby tire if you don't go near gravel or dirt.William L.
I replaced both my old Conti Touring Plus with these about 6 months ago. The Touring Plus had well over 25K on them in just over 3 years of riding around here and in Europe, on all kinds of different surfaces – only a bad flat kinda sealed the deal for them. I have well over 2K on these tires with zero complaints riding through hills and flats, throughout the fall and winter on asphalt and some gravel surfaces. These tires do make a bit of a whirring noise sometimes, which the Touring Plus never did. The tires should 'relax' as time goes bye and taking them on and off on the fly in the future probably won't be an issue. If you don't have the patience and right equipment to initially install them yourself, just have MEC staff do it for you. If you ride all year in all weather (no snow for me) and road conditions, I highly recommend a tire like this – I'm super happy with mine.Livingthedream

Fantastic tires! Bought these for a 1,100+ ultra endurance race around Lake Michigan and they worked like a charm. Got a few punctures from nails but hit tons of debris in the shoulders of the road and these puppies lasted well. Silca Sealant works like a charm with them and wouldn’t run anything else. I needed some tires that were compatible with my hookless wheels. Most compatible options were out of stock everywhere, but the Power Road in 700×32 was on the list, so I took a chance and ordered these from Jenson. Installation on my Giant wheels was not too difficult. With a blast of air they seated without trouble. My only complaint is that these must be made of pretty porous rubber. They lost a lot of pressure initially, but after a few rides, the sealant appears to have addressed this. I’m happy with the ride quality, which is noticeably better than my last set of tires. They ride smooth and grip well. I hope that they last a reasonable number of miles.
I am 100% sold on tubeless in general and my Michellin Power Road tires in particular. This is my first foray into tubless, so I have no other brands to comapare to, but I am not going to try any other brands for comparison. I had flats on my clinchers two weeks in a row and decided to give tubeless tires a try in hopes of having less flats. I had been hesitant to go tubeless becuase my LBS guy said he hates them because they are so difficult to mount and I read lots of reviews of people having trouble getting them to mount. These tires were no harder to get on the rims than the clinchers I had been using and, they popped right on and sealed the first time I hit them with the air shot. I am assuming that what I will eventaully be able to say is that my troubles with flats are mostly in the past. But what I can say in the present is that I don't see me ever going back to clinchers even if I were to still h ave troulbe with flats because of how much smoother they run. I am in my 60s and weigh over 200# and don't like being punished when I ride on our rough Indiana roads. I put 28 mm on the front and 32 mm on the back and lowered my presure considerably and now on the chip and seal roads that used to rattle me I can barely feel the vibration, and the roughness of some of the other roads seems to have been cut about in half or more. I will never go back to a clincher, and unless I have some problem with my Michellins, I won't have reason to experiment with any other tire.David

Headlines for these: two weeks, two punctures, one painful lay down whilst cornering. The narrow grooves seem to invite sharp objects to lodge themselves in the tyre. Not the best compatibility with DT Swiss rims – these took a fair amount of work to fit. Hate to say it, but based on the last few weeks – I’d find it tough to recommend these. They go on relatively easy ( they are a bit tricky first time out the box ) but once on they ride quality is excellent the grip is superb on the road and on light gravel and the speed is absolutely fantastic! As I’ve installed the 5000 TLs just before the onset of winter, my initial riding has been in cold temps (5 to 10 Celsjus). With cold pavement and lower tire temps, you have to expect less grip than you would in warmer weather. The tires performed very well. I also had one stage in the rain / about 60 km /. Everything was under control. I did not notice any oversteer or skidding. On less than smooth pavement, the ride is pretty plush. A large part of that is probably due to 700×28 at lower tire pressures, but you also expect tubeless tires to be more comfortable than clinchers. So whether it was riding over cracked or otherwise broken up pavement, seams and joints resulting in uneven pavement, bricked roadway, slightly raised or dipped manhole covers, minor curbing, and small holes where chunks of pavement had come off (but not any big potholes), the Grand Prix 5000 TLs considerably softened the inevitable hit. As a result, I never felt like I was getting bounced off. Words that describe the feeling are “stable,” “confident,” “controlled,” and “composed.” I can recommend it with full responsibility. This is my second set of these tires. They performed very well in summer conditions.Quadic
These tires are so smooth and supple. Along the same routes, I noticed that I can generally ride in one higher gear because these tires are so fast. I also maintain a LOT more of my momentum on short, hard transitions. If you are riding a lot of road miles, do yourself a big favor and do not skimp on anything less than these. Before these, I was riding on Gatorskins and the difference is like night and day. So far, I only have a couple hundred miles on them but I'm hoping the puncture protection is at least as good as I had with the Gatorskins. ORDER DATE: 01/05/2020 ORDER NUMBER: X1761130 I bought a continental GP5000 tire as a continuation of the great satisfaction from the continental GP4000 ii, reading the excellent reviews, to use it as a rear tire. I ordered them in May, I was late to receive them due to covid and I finally placed it in early July. Unfortunately in a very short time and with minimal use, 500 kilometers, the product in a routine walk on asphalt was torn to the side and unfortunately destroyed. There are no guarantees for the tires as I understood after contacting continental. My company replied "The damage to your tire has been caused by sharp road debris and is not a manufacturing defect. Unfortunately this is just bad luck "showing clearly that a material failure in one of the most critical parts of the bike for safety is due to misfortune and that its responsibility is limited to selling expensive and well-publicized tires that are torn sideways" by the wind " . Sigmasport was initially offered to offer me a tire at a better price. In the first choice I made "vittoria rubino" he offered me a price much higher than the competition, which he improved after a market research I did but not satisfactorily. In a second proposal I made for the continental GP5000, thinking that I would have a more favorable price on the tire that was damaged, the OFFER was 8 euros more expensive than the competition per tire with free shipping. I preferred to buy 2 tires from another store with 5 euros shipping. Unfortunately my opinion on sigmasports, in terms of customer response after purchase, is not the best (read also my experience with ENDURAFS260 PRO BIB SHORT shorts). I'm really unlucky with orders from sigmasports. In summary, I believe that the continental GP5000 Folding tire is an expensive, very good tire with a big problem on the side walls. There is a flaw in the construction of these tires that makes them very difficult to set up tubeless and then unreliable once you get them out on the road. See my photo. For 3 TIRES IN A ROW, a line of bubbly sealant appeared near the bead, around the full circumference of the tire, and on both sides. This happened both at installation time and then later on after just 10 miles of riding. Backcountry was kind enough to replace the first tire that showed this problem. Then it happened with the replacement. Then it happened with the other tire from the original purchase. Forget it, these tires are going back. Why yes, I have indeed set up many other tubeless tires. Yes, I am aware that even tubeless-ready tires sometimes have imperfections that must be filled with sealant the first time the tire is installed. Yes, I tried shaking the tire and rotating it on its side. Yes, I am aware that more sealant might have helped. In fact it did. Until I rode on it. Or left it overnight in my hot garage. I don't have time for all that. I have three other brands of tires that were far easier and far more reliable to set up tubeless (Maxxis, Surly, Teravail). And in fact my WTB Horizons also show no such problem. Could you be more patient and make WTB Byways work for you? Maybe. I have better things to do, so I replaced the Byways with the Teravail Washburns, which honestly look to have a better-designed pattern anyway. Order two sets of these tyres from Sigma on Christmas Eve after I had three punctures in my old tyres on one ride (not fun). Arrived on time as stated by delivery date. Annoyingly tight to get on the wheels, also you will need washing up liquid to get the tyre to sit true on the wheel, unless you like going up and down like a jokey. First couple of rides they were brilliant. Tarmac, Gravel, Sand and Mud was no issues. When I got back on third ride tho I found a small gash on the sidewall (running these with inner tubes, some how didn’t get a puncture). It might be I have been unlucky and hit a sharp stone but I have done the same route plenty of times with my old tyres and never had this issue. Might have to order another one or change to different tyre. All in all they are great tyres but just be a bit careful around larger gravel/stones.AverageScottay
Bought these to replace some worn out Gravelking SKII 650b tyres, which I've used on my gravel bike as summer tyres for 3 years now. The Byways look reasonable, light knobbly bits on the edges and smoother in the centre. However, annoyingly as I've just spent £70 on them, they are completely useless. In the rain, I've been skidding on flat tarmac, and in the dry they can't grip side slopes, have no traction under braking going downhill and cannot corner at all. Really disappointing, and will now have to buy another set of gravelkings or similar for the summer.charlie

I bought these for my commute bike. It was a slight leap if faith in terms of clearances on my Genesis Equilibrium disc, as I run mudguards all year round. They fit a treat though and they are a wonderful ride. I was running 28mm tyres, but panniers and potholes can make for a bumpy ride on west London's clogged and pitted arteries. Hence this purchase. The extra volume has certainly made my backside happier, but what's great is I don't seem to have traded much in terms of rolling resistance. I can still make the same speeds on familiar stretches. I'm possibly a little slower off the junctions, but not frustratingly so. And as I'm only troubled with 50 meters of climbing I haven't felt the weight penalty. As a further plus they are doing really well with the glass that litters the gutters and road edges and is often impossible to avoid. If your bike has the clearances to take them, then get some. So far – 6 weeks in – they're the best commuting tyres I've used.MikeyH
Bought these tires to put on my cyclocross bike, to ride the streets with (dont judge). They went into the rims with a little work, and looked good once on. The black edition is a nice touch and should be the standard edition. Didnt really realize the difference until I saw others without the black edition gator skins and other gp 4 seasons with their reddish sidewalls. So far with a few hundred miles on them they handle well, and ride nicely. They roll really well too, although Ive never had a dedicated race tire on a bike to know if they are that much better. The one issue I have with them is the tire pressure range on these. I deducted a star, but in a perfect world would have deducted 1/2 a star. The range of pressure on these 32mm are 85-105lbs. As a bigger guy I normally run 15 lbs more in the rear, so that doesnt give me many options (85/100, 90/105). It hasnt been an issue but Id love the option to tinker a bit more.homers95ram

I bought this tyre in 30c and did a tubeless set up with it. It blew off the wheel rims at only 70PSI, thankfully while stationery after I had done 70km. I refitted it back home and same thing happened, this time at 65PSI. I raised the issue with Sigma and they blamed everything except the tyre such as the tape etc… I've been riding tubeless for 5 years and never experienced anything like this before. Have put different pair of tubeless tyres on since and absolutely no problems at all, so I can only presume this tyre from Vittoria was supplied damaged.Jason M
I'm on my second set of Rubino Pro now and I'm very satisfied. They roll very well (prob one of the best performing ones) and are relatively light. After ~6,000km I got 3 punctures in quick succession on the back tyre. I then decided to swap for a new one and the punctures stopped. Unless it's a coincidence, it's fair to say they last about that long (they prob could go further, but more punctures would likely ensue). They go well on tarmac, bike paths and dirt roads.Marcos
Let’s be honest the tan walls are a big selling point, they look ace! I had to grapple with the tyres to get them in the rim but got there in the end. I’ve been using them for a month now and they are super smooth and grippy, best road tyres I’ve used! I purchased this after having limited success with another brand for my Enve Foundation hookless rims. The tyre was tight but ok to fit in the end and went on easily with a track pump rather than my tyre booster. Performance has been perfect in wet and try having covered 200-300 miles. I use these on zipp rims that were tubeless ready. Replaced the rim tape with tubeless tape.Tire bead is very loose for a tubeless tire. Therefore it makes it difficult to seat these tires on the rim even though it was lipped. I am used to mountain bike tubeless tires which are much more difficult to mount onto the rims and seem to see it much easier. Would not recommend them. I have switched over to continental. I bought a pair of these last month to fit to my gravel bike so I can use it as a winter road bike. I have them in 32c width (the smallest my wheels will take is 30). No punctures so far (but have only done a few hundred Km so cant read too much into that), they feel comfy and give confidence on our shocking roads. Went on reasonably easily with just a small amount of swearing. They do roll with a bit more resistance than the GP5000s I have on the "best" bike; probably drops my speed by 1-2km/h. Worth it I think for the extra grip and comfort. You do need to have them pumped up to their max pressure though.Joe

I have been bike commuting for about 4 months 2,000 miles. I really wanted to keep going through the winter but my stock tires did not provide any traction on icy conditions. With these winter tires, traction is greatly improved. Over smooth ice you will feel very confident. In soft snow the bike will press down and give a good grip. Sometimes there are frozen tire tracks from cars which will will pull your bike along like a train on tracks. This was downright scary with my stock tires. Now I feel a bit uneasy but it is manageable. Noise: they aren’t as quiet as the stock tires but you could use them all year if you wanted to. On pavement I would compare the noise as cracking of a fire or a bowl of rice cereal haha. It really doesn’t bother me. On ice they are quieter. When you go through snow they are perfectly quiet. Shipping: they arrived one day sooner than expected which was great. I was disappointed that REI charged me two $60 oversized package charges even though both tires fit in one box. Installing: I installed these myself with little difficulty. Just take note of the arrows that indicate the rotation of the tires. My stock tires were 28” and these are 29” but they fit perfectly on my Gazelle T10 ebike (See picture)Brian
It's the first time I ever ride a bike in winter, and I got these as a birthday gift. I run on 45×700c in summer and these are 40×700c, so I could reuse my tube. On dry roads or asphalt, the studs make it sound like you're cycling on a gravel road. You can feel the difference on icy or snowy patches: you can keep the ride going without much hassles.. It feels safer than summer road tires, but don't expect to beat Mother Nature! On ice, locking down your wheels will make you slip. The studs allow you to build up speed and keep the momentum just enough. Muddy or compacted snow will build up and your rear wheel might slip. And it's a normal behavior – your bike will try to get on the tracks. Slow down, get on easier gears and keep control. I did not have the chance to try them on freshly dropped snow. So far, I'm not disappointed. I'm glad to be able to use my bike all year long!Diego

I needed a pair of tyres to fit new wheels I had purchased, because I could not get a replacement freehub for the rear wheel and a replacement hub for the front wheel. I had decided to go slightly narrower than my existing 38C tyres and picked these as they seemed to offer good rolling resistance, grip and puncture resistance. Most of my cycling is carried out on Cycle Paths/ Trails. Currently they have only been used on three rides on cycle trails varying from 18 to 30miles. Each time they have been used I have improved my previous times for the same ride so it would seem that the improved rolling resistance claims are correct. It may be the reduced width but they seem a bit squirrely at just under 40mph on fly ash, but it may also be that is not the optimum surface or speed for these tyres. I would recommend these and will purchase the equivalent if these ever wear out.Roy D.

For a heavy rider or heavily loaded bike or just for the ultimate in commuter reliability these are the best you can buy. They have reinforced sidewalls & wire bead and the 26×2.0's are rated for 130kg per tyre. I've only had one puncture on two bikes used daily for the last 3 years and that was a 6inch nail that went in and out! They even roll well for such a heavy tyre. There are only 3 downsides. 1. The 2.0's are very difficult to fit & get to sit evenly on rims under 30mm. I use Ryde Andra 40 & Halo SAS rims and they go on by hand & sit perfectly with no effort. 2. Put these tires onto ENVE SES 3.4 AR rims. These tires were so loose I was able to get both beads into the center channel with NO tools. While that sounds like a good thing, I repeatedly had issues getting the tire to take any air to try to seat the beads. I tried pumping with no valve core, I tried soapy water, I tried the Airshot cylinder. Nothing would get them to take air and seat. I finally took them to a bike shop – we got one seated, but the other would STILL not take air. The employee told me to reach out to backcountry to return the tire. I had one trick left: put in a tube, seat the tire, take out the tube and try again. This was successful, but I will note that I had to pressure up to 130psi to get both beads to seat and "click". This is technically at the max rating of the tire tubed, and near/above the max rating of the rim. With both tires seated, I thought I was victorious, added the sealant and pressured up to about 60psi per ENVE weight recommendations. The tires proceeded to lose air and sealant at about 10psi/hr (with me repumping them, rotating them) for about 24 hours. After the 24 hrs, the tires seemed to hold and I did a test ride. Again things seemed to hold, but I'm pretty weary after the significant pressure loss initially. I've put about 120 miles in 2 rides on them now and they seem OK. For such nice tires and brand, I feel like things could have been smoother in the setup. Now that they're holding air, things seem to be OK, but I'm not overly "wowed" by them. They're fine. I have some tubeless Panaracers on my gravel bike and have been very happy there so far.Michael H

I refitted it back home and same thing happened, this time at 65PSI. I raised the issue with Sigma and they blamed everything except the tyre such as the tape etc… I've been riding tubeless for 5 years and never experienced anything like this before. Have put different pair of tubeless tyres on since and absolutely no problems at all, so I can only presume this tyre from Vittoria was supplied damaged.Jason M
I bought these to fit onto a set of wheels, having fitted Conti GP 5000's to a different set of tubeless wheels it'd be a comparison. They fitted easier, they were harder to seat and seal than the GP5000's. I'd only done a few hundred miles and I had a sudden blowout on the rear tyre, no way sealant would close up the hole on the sidewall. I got home using a tube and a fiver as a tyre boot. Initially I was going to replace like for like but having inspected the front tyre decided against that and I've gone for Conti GP5000's again. The front tyre sidewall seemed to have areas where the material under the rubber was showing through, which makes me think it had suffered a nick which weakened the tyre structure leading to the blowout. The Conti's have done as much mileage on this bike and a few thousand miles on another bike and no issues. Grip wise they seemed good but they don't seem tough enough for the roads here.Mike

Used these for over a year, run with latex tubes and no issues. Have taken them on unsealed roads (although chose my line carefully) without issue. Feel more supple than conti 5000’s, seem to grip in the wet but not as supple as veloflex clinchers but then the veloflex are far less puncture resistant so it’s about checks and balances. No such thing as a perfect tyre. Easy to get on and off the rim without tools. Happily purchased these again and recommended to friends who like them too.Matt
Let’s be honest the tan walls are a big selling point, they look ace! I had to grapple with the tyres to get them in the rim but got there in the end. I’ve been using them for a month now and they are super smooth and grippy, best road tyres I’ve used! Can’t speak to puncture protection but I’ve taken them on some gravely stretches of road and no punctures yet.Jrflynn90

These replaced Continental 4000S tyres. The Gatorskin is a tighter fit so be prepared to use tyre levers for the last bit when fitting. They are tough especially on the sides because just as many punctures happen there as elsewhere on a tyre. I'm in the Swansea area which has a lot of bikeways cos the Council wants to make the place into bike city and they are succeeding, but the roads are diabolical. Nothing is ever puncture proof but these Gatorskins are about as close as you can get and they roll along wonderfully. I wouldn't put anything else on my bike and I don't really care that they cost in the 25 to 30 quid zone. My bike is a Cannondale Caad8. Stevecymro61
I am now in my second year of riding on these tires. I live in mid Michigan = crappy,rough, debris filled roads. I was riding light weight high performance Michelin tires. I loved them. but only could get 2000 miles out of them. I would average at least 10 flats in a season = 5000 miles. With the Gatorskin's I got 5000 miles out of the rear tire, and still have my first one on the front @ 7600 miles. Still looks good. I have had only one flat in all this mileage ! They ride and handle great. Not a super light racing tire. but for real world long bike rides these are fantastic.coi138
I've been using these tires for many years and have found them to be quite reliable. Yes, I've had a few flats, but I'd like to think that number would been much higher had I not been using the Gatorskins. I've been able to get what I consider good mileage out of them with nominal wear to the tread surface. However, what does give me cause for concern are the sidewalls. When I first started using them I began noticing black hair-like threads hanging off the sidewall close to where the tire is seated to the rim- *not* at the point of contact with the rim, but about 2-4 millimeters away from the edge of the rim. Moreover, this happened not just on one rim or one bike, but it's happened on multiple rims and bikes. I've come to the conclusion the sidewalls are simply delaminating on a thread-by-thread basis and I haven't experienced a complete sidewall failure. I just have to take a pair of scissors after the threads every so often. Just for reference, I generally use 700×23's, but have had the occasion to use 700×25's and 700×28 (only once). I had originally thought it might have been a heat build-up issue from using a trailer, but I haven't used that in several years now and it didn't seem to make a difference. All that said, I like the tires- but I wish I could have greater confidence in the sidewall construction. If not for that, I would rate the tires with a "5".aboone768
