I am told by my stylist that I have fine hair but a lot of it. I was noticing that I was losing what looked like a lot of hair to me in the shower and in my brushes. I have very hard water so that is probably part of the issue. My sister has amazing hair, she grows it down to her waist and donates it to a wigs for kids program. She uses this shampoo and conditioner even though she doesn't color her hair so I tried it and it is working great for me. Detangles, my hair looks healthy, and I see less coming out in the shower and brushes. I use the shampoo and conditioner together every other day. On the in-between day I get it wet and just use a little conditioner from around where a low ponytail would be to the ends for detangling. I thought the fragrance was too strong at first but have gotten used to it now. I have tried many shampoos for my bleached blonde hair. This shampoo works amazing on my dry brittle hair. I personally think it works way better than Opalex. This shampoo leaves my hair silky, smooth and doesn't fade my colored hair either. While Opalex made my hair feel like straw hair. I highly recommend this shampoo if you want silky smooth hair. My hair has gotten extremely damaged from using OGX products that currently have a class action lawsuit against them for formaldehyde, cancer causing ingredients & instead of moisturizing & repairing it's drying it from the inside out, causing horrible damage you didn't see starting, until you have a ton of broken hair & even HAIR LOSS!! I used the Aluram Daily Clean beauty shampoo since the summer and my hair started going through its winter dry spell where more flakes were noticeable in my dark brown hair. About a week ago, I decided I wanted to dye my hair. I bought bleach and developed and started bleaching my hair. It did not go well. The next day, I went back to the store, looking for something to fix my at home bleach fail. I warmed up to my weird brassy orangeish yellow, so I decided I would stay blonde for a while, but I definitely want lighter hair. I bought the Violet crush shampoo and the conditioner, along with more bleach to fix some still very dark spots in my hair. After bleaching the dark spots out, turning them a weird light yellow, I washed my hair with this shampoo. I only left it in for a minute and it already made my hair look better and the color more even. Today, I decided to leave the shampoo in my hair for five minutes and I can see the difference. The lighter parts of my hair look better now. I'd definitely recommend using the Violet crush conditioner after the shampoo, though. My hair did feel very dry after I rinsed it, but the conditioner made my hair nice and soft. Both, the shampoo and the conditioner smell really nice, too.Darja

I received free samples of the JOHN FRIEDA Violet Crush Purple Shampoo & Conditioner from PINCHMe to review. I don’t have blonde hair so I gave this to a blonde haired friend to try out. Here’s what she had to say: Shampoo lathered well and very few tangles after conditioning. It did turn down the brassiness without making my hair look too ash blonde. I think for the price point it holds its own. I don’t like it as well as some similar shampoos and conditioners sold in salons, but I do like the price point! What I dislike: I was underwhelmed by the smell not a whole lot to it. One day after use my hair does feel a little more weighed down and more oily then normal. I have super thick hair (about to the middle of my back) and almost used the entire bottle of both samples to really make it feel like I’d worked it from Root to Tip. – Overall, I would consider buying this brand if I didn’t already get my salon brand purple shampoo/conditioner from my hairdresser mom for free/really cheap. 🙂kae_nc_hsswq

I use this shampoo in conjunction with the Colorharmony conditioner to keep my silver hair sparkling. Together they remove any yellow undertones that I have in my hair. I actually really liked the way this product made my hair look. I was going for the silver/lavender color so it was perfect. Although, it didn't last long so I was using it about 2-3 times per week for the recommended amount of time in the instructions. I used it for a little over a month. I did notice my hair was getting dry and over time there was more and more hair in the shower drain after washing. I did conditioning treatments between uses thinking this would help but it didn't. My hair then started looking and feeling thinner. The next thing I knew there was a slight bald patch on the crown of my head. I panicked and stopped use immediately. After just 2 weeks of not using this product I can already tell my hair is healthier and there is no more hair coming out in the shower or my brush. Im not saying this will happen to everyone as there are plenty of good reviews on here. But if you notice that its drying out your hair or causing any breakage STOP USE immediately!! … can turn hair light purple if used too often. I highlight my hair very light and hate to see any tones of gold or red and I've tried multiple purple shampoos that can be very drying. This one is not as bad as the others in terms of drying my hair but it turns the lightest pieces lavender. I don't know if this happens to everyone but for me it did so I find that I don't use this for every shampoo and I suggest for people who do highlight their hair very blonde they shouldn't wash their hair too often because it's drying. I find that when I switch between this and a good clarifying shampoo, my color lasts longer without getting brassy and I just watch how long I keep it on the front really light pieces. It will do different things and have different effects depending on what your hair color and condition are to begin with — so go slow. I say that because I read online where people had not followed the instructions on the bottle (or had not used the gloves which come inside the package) and their results were not always what they expected. I would definitely read and follow the directions, which are very clear and concise. I also chose to follow the instructions which said to try the product for only a short time as you first use it, so that you can get an idea of what it will do to your hair in your particular case. Some people have talked about using it on wigs and ending up with a more permanent purple hue – one that they were not expecting. I’m glad I read that first, as I might have tried it on some hair extensions which I own — but now I think I would not go that direction. The product is a very dark purple and has a nice scent. I did use a nice, strong moisturizing conditioner after trying the purple shampoo, as I felt it was rather drying and I didn’t want to damage my hair in any way. My hair used to be blonde but has become somewhat darker and more brassy with age. I was pleased with the way this shampoo worked to remove the brassy tones from my dark blonde hair. I can imagine it would work even more effectively on lighter blonde and platinum hair shades. A friend of mine has lovely silver hair, and she was the first one to mention purple shampoos to me – which is what got me interested in trying them to see what effect they would have. I am absolutely in love with L’Oréal Color radiance purple shampoo! I have tried MANY purple shampoos and am constantly disappointed when my hair is as brassy as it was before the shampoo. I was given this as a gift. At the time, I had deep purple hair. This shampoo really helped at keeping my color in check. Mine has a pump dispenser, which makes dispensing very easy for me. I don't like that the dispenser dripped every so often at inopportune times, like when no one was in the shower. I feel like I’m getting toned from both and not just the shampoo. It is slightly drying so I always follow with a leave in spray. So far the best Purple Shampoo I've found. I have not used it long but My hair shines and actually feels thicker and softer. It hasn't really taken out all my brassiness yet but maybe after a few more uses it will. I am transitioning from medium brown colored treated hair to my natural white/grey hair that I'm letting grow out. It is very fine so my hairdresser didn't want to bleach it anymore for fear of damaging it more to get the orange and yellow tone out of it. She just highlighted down to blendable with my natural white/grey hair. That is probably why not all the brassiness is coming out with the Purple Shampoo. First time trying a purple shampoo that is not from a professional beauty brand and I am pleased! The scent is very nice and leaves your hair smelling wonderful! The color of the shampoo is very dark purple and contains a lot of pigment, which I like because it makes me feel like the product works better at knocking out the brass. This lathered better than other purple shampoos that I have tried. I have only used once and I already saw a change in the tone of my hair. It definitely works! I received this product complimentary in a voxbox. I will say this product definitely works. However I have red hair not blonde. It did strip out some of the darker tones in my hair making it lighter (I didn’t hate the end result). This shampoo is not recommended for red hair especially red hair that is dyed. Although most red dyes have purple deposits and red deposits in them the purple cancels out the yellow/ golden tones. Overall the product did as it described it smells amazing and you do definitely get results from day one. I have rated this five stars as I continually rebut this product. It’s always In my bathroom. I have naturally blonde hair which I do have coloured every few months to lighten it a little and this really helps to re brighten my hair. I will say however that I have to change my shampoo and conditioner regularly as it almost stops working on my hair but I do always go back to this product however I only use this a few times a month, and it helps maintain not only my colour but doesn’t strip my hair and make it feel dry when washed. I also love the biotin and collagen shampoo/conditioner by OGX, these are great products which can be used daily without the overuse of chemicals that lost shampoos have in them.katie.p

I am no stranger to blue/purple toning shampoo and this one is great! Some other toning shampoos I have used either didn’t work well at all or they worked too well! The directions for this said to leave the shampoo on for 3-5 minutes. I always use caution when applying toning shampoo especially the first time as I’ve turned my hair purple before. Three minutes was all I needed! This took all the brass out of my hair! The color looked incredible so clean and crisp like I had just left the salon. My stylist was impressed with how great it made my color look after using these products! So I went to a salon and my goal is to do a black to silver to white Ombre hair color. After the second round of bleach I was recommended this shampoo to neutralize the yellow blonde and achieve and maintain the silver color until we do the next round. I was using it in the shower and leaving it on for 5 minutes, not seeing much result. My hair was still pretty blonde and I was disappointed. But! I was scrolling around on Youtube and came across a Brad Mondo video where he was reacting to people bleaching their hair and saw someone who applied the shampoo like a dye and left it on to tone their hair and I thought, okay, worth a try. And it worked amazingly! I coated the blonde hair very thoroughly and left it on for 20 minutes and proceeded to wash it out, blow dry, and throw some leave in conditioner in. Blonde is now mostly gone and it left me with a beautiful silver/gray color. I plan on doing this a few more times until I see no more blonde. 🙂Lou

When I initially tried to submit this review I had given at three stars. I had an issue with the app and have used the shampoo several times since and now I would like to give it four stars. The worst thing about the shampoo is that your hands can really get stained if you don’t wet them and preferably put lotion or something on them to create a barrier. The blue really stains. Other than that, it does give a nice toning color to hair that looks brassy, and my hair is nice and smooth when I use the shampoo. I normally do not use shampoos with sodium chloride because I have keratin treatment but it has been washed out so I felt comfortable using this.jessica.b

I’ve had it done before I know what’s normal and not for this process but it Has taken me months and months to regain some of the structure and strength back but only from using products like this. I have huge blonde hair care regiment but recently was sent this samples from Pinchme.com and I fell in love with this product the moroccanoil blonde perfecting shampoo and conditioner color care. I could tell after one use the different in my strands as far as they felt fuller softer and a lot stronger too. I have already purchased my own and is in its way in the mail as we speak. But I can’t say enough about the shampoo seriously the strength added to my hair after using and the toning feature was amazing. I have different depths of blonde and I felt that this made those lighter money pieces that perfect icy I’ve been looking for + strengthening in other product and only found here. Others I have to use separate product .. with moraccanoil u get it all in one tube!! Smell is beautiful the product color is rich purple and it won’t leave ur hair heavy or with residue. But clean and healthy feeling. I used as shampoo then rinsed … swueeze out all water from hair with hands and reapply from front hair line back to ur ends and massage thru without sudsing up the product and leave set for 10/15 minutes depending on how porous ur hair is. (Do this for more toning effect) Mines was needing toned again and is pretty porous so I left in longer… but not too long. Anyhow I’d recommend to anyone who has chemically treated and or damaged hair needing give it some TLC. Price is fair considering other brand and they dint work as well as this one trust me.. I’ve wasted a lot of money trying to find the right ones to maintain my blond locks!! Also I left my conditioner in for about 5minutes too. But my hair is very dry of course. Thus those luxurious healing oils in moroccanoil products… u get more strength tans healing from them than any other!! I think this is the combo for me! Today is my first day using the Moroccanoil Purple Shampoo and the Moroccanoil Purple Conditioner, and here's my thoughts: Both the shampoo and conditioner have a rich purple color, which is nice since most conditioners I've tried in the past are much lighter in color compared to their shampoo counterpart. Both smell really nice, too. I left the shampoo in for about 5 minutes, rinsed, and then I left the conditioner in for probably 5+ minutes before I rinsed with cold water. This is the best toning combination I've ever tried. After one use, I can definitely tell the difference in less brassiness. I wouldn't recommend leaving both products in as long as I did, however – I purposely did so to see if I could get a dramatic result, and a few strands have a very light violet/gray tone to them, which I love! I will definitely be buying both the shampoo and conditioner soon since I think both will help keep my hair healthy and a nice shade of blondechopper923

It has got rich, creamy and lathering texture, don’t need to use a lot of product and it lathers through the hair well. The colour is brightly deep purple and pigmented. The scent feels a bit strong during washing but after washing and through the day hair smell nice, refreshed and fragrance is mild. After washing hair is easy to brush but once hair is dry combing is a bit harder, hair feels dry and like straws therefore it causes some hair breakage. There is much difference in hair tone, hair looks much brighter, shiner, radiant, lighter and improved in colour. On the second day hair still feels clean and fresh in scent, however I have noticed that this shampoo dries out hair and strips off it’s natural moisture. Another minus for this product that it stains under nails and some dry skin areas which takes time to wash off. I would not use this product frequently but occasionally (once a week or once in two weeks). But I would definitely recommend for colour improvement, brightening and lightening dullness in colour.irina.g

I received this product in exchange for a review. This product works pretty well but not out of the ballpark amazing. I am 6 months pregnant right now and currently have a hard time keeping up on my platinum blonde hair. That being said thai product is pretty concentrated and does it's job pretty well for the ends of my hair that are still very much blonde. I really don't like the smell of this shampoo I think it is overwhelmingly resemblance of being in a salon and am pretty glad the scent does not continue far beyond the rinse. As for if it improved my hair structure I would say I didn't see any improvement there at all but I still have a full bottle despite using it daily. The yellow tone though is pretty much gone though. I would recommend it if it were drastically price cut because the price tag associated with this product is way too high in my opinion I've used other products under 10 dollars with the same results that you can easily pick up at your local store.Hefaroni26

I know the going trend is purple/grey platinum blonde, which I don't think this would be the best for, but if u want to keep your warmth without being brassy, this works better than any purple shampoos I've used. I have a lot of Irish heritage, pale skin and eyes, lots of light freckling in sun touched spots and firey red and gold inside my naturally brown follicles that shines very brightly in sun light. The warmth has become more pronounced with age and even the stripes of brunette that are left untouched after doing lightening balayage are a redening chestnut/auburn. the warm blonde really compliments my coloring so I'm not complaining, I just don't want it to be too yellow or too brassy. all of the other purple shampoos I have tried made my hair look almost green, even redken which I read was specifically recommended by experts for warm blondes, and it didn't matter how quick I rinsed it out after applying,, it clashed with my hair coloring so badly.. I hated it. I was so thrilled to try this and find it actually worked perfectly, no brassy-ness or ugly yellow, just perfectly golden honey warm blonde and auburn/chestnut. I love ash blonde and the purple tinted platinum but this happy accident of a warm hair color works better on me than I'd have imagined and I'm so thrilled to find a way to maintain it. idk about it being drying like some others said, I've found all purple shampoos to be a little drying, I assumed because they lather so well and also I do a pre-wash so there's no product impeding it. having color treated hair, I always add lots of super conditioning products, hydraters and proteins treatments before I'm done on wash day and also being a warm blonde, I only use purple shampoo once a month, preferably when it's time for a clarifying cleanse and I do an oil treatment the night before. That's normal, because products and specific ingredients work differently for everyone. And that's another point…your skin and all of those factors change throughout your life. Age, climate, the air quality and environment where you live also impact your skin. I have tried a LOT of different products, both over the counter and prescription. This drying lotion is magical!!! I use this overnight as a spot treatment on little suckers that pop up on my face, and by the morning they are barely noticeable! Since all pimples are different types, I’d say this tends to work really effectively on about 70% of mine. To be clear, this product dries out the pimple (so I’m not sure why Amazon asks reviewers to rate the moisturizing characteristic, as this does not moisturize). It doesn’t smell great, but it’s definitely tolerable. And it does leave a pink color on your skin when you apply it, so I would recommend only using it overnight or when you’re at home. Everyone has different skin, and therefore we all have a different reaction to the same product. I have combination skin that is very acne prone. I have gone through probably 7 bottles of this product. I kept using it without realizing that it was actually causing my breakouts due to drying out my skin. When your skin dries out and becomes flakey, it is likely to overproduce oil and breakout. I didn’t realize that and continued to buy the product. For me, my skin responds best to a simple skincare regimen of Retinol, moisturizer, and sunscreens. This helps with acne, fine lines, and sun damage. I’ve been around the block when it comes to purple shampoos and this is one of the best ones I have tried, if not the best. I think one of the most annoying things about purple shampoos is how drying they can be on the hair but after using this my hair actually felt more hydrated. The toning on my hair was pretty significant as well, even without having my hair done in 4 months. When using purple shampoo I like to let it sit on my hair for a few minutes in the shower before rinsing off. I’ll admit I didn’t have high hopes for this but after using it it will definitely be a new staple in my routine! I ALWAYS wash my hair once a week, but at times twice a week and condition it every day. However, since using Verb Purple Shampoo I have only been washing once a week and the biggest shocker is I haven't had to condition my hair at all. I started using this recently on my preschooler's light blonde hair. I didn't realize how quickly/easily blonde hair starts looking dull and discolored until she was born (no one in my family is blonde)! I wanted to try something that would keep her hair looking bright, shiny, and white-gold WITHOUT toning all of the color out. This does just that. I use it twice a week -without the conditioner- and leave it on for a couple minutes. I also like that it doesn't weigh her fine hair down, but still moisturizes and detangles enough that we don't need conditioner. The shampoo is a deep violet with a subtle pearlescent sheen. It lathers into lavender suds, but doesn't seem to stain. I'm not sure how to describe the scent, but it's wonderful! My daughter's hair still smells great the next morning. If you're looking for something to really tone your hair, I don't think this is it. I've been using purple shampoos for years & for a drugstore option, it's not bad as I believe I've found an effective way of getting the most brightening & toning out of this so long as you don't mind the extra step. I recommend washing hair with any regular shampoo 1st to get the hair clean & this will help it to better absorb the purple pigment. Now blot hair so it's not dripping wet & apply shampoo in sections starting at the top using a bit more of the purple shampoo than you normally would. Now as you're starting to work it into the hair, do not work it into a full rich lather – the idea is to work it in thoroughly while trying to keep the shampoo as purple as possible, this will help the pigmen to penetrate the hair. Now do the same to the middle, & ends of the hair – again, do not work it into a full rich lather. You're going to allow shampoo sit on your hair as you continue with your shower – clip longer hair up so it's not inadvertently rinsed. Let it sit like this for a few minutes, at least 3 & up to like 5. I wouldn't do this w/a high end purple shampoo like Redken or something – it would turn your hair a grayish purple color, but this product is nowhere near as rich w/purple pigment. So if you follow these steps, you'll see a difference. Then just rinse & condition as usual.Allyson6C

I've used this product for a while. Then I bought a new bottle and washed my hair. that day clumps fell out. I didn't think it was from this shampoo. I used olaplex #3 and heard that caused hair loss. It's been months and I stopped use of both and my hair still sheds an insane amount. I went to the doctors and everything came back normal. It was taking its toll. I lost most of my hairs thickness. So I did a test today with hairs from my brush. Which is a lot hair I might add. I put olaplex on some hair in one container. Left it on for the same amount I did before. I rinsed it with hot water and the hair was still strong. I did the same with the purple shampoo. Rinsed it and the hair was falling apart!! I love this stuff and can't get enough of it! my 3rd bottle already and it's the only purple shampoo I trust for my blonde highlights! Loooove the smell especially! it's not a drying formula unlike any other purple shampoos I tried which is also another major plus. What I do is I dampened the hair slightly with just a lil bit of water then I squeeze a good amount on my palm (more than they recommend on the bottle) and place it all over my blonde highlights. I leave it on for 30-45 mins and then properly rinse it. This technique uses a lot more product than what's recommended on the bottle but I noticed that this way the brassiness stays gone for a month long so I only need to do this once a month. TLDR – great shampoo, horrible packaging I love this shampoo! Smells so good and has made a huge difference in my hair color. However, that packaging is horrible. The shampoo is constantly leaking out of the top of the lid. Every time I get in the shower, every other product even remotely near it is covered in a purple layer of shampoo. I should have caught the red flag when every other bottle in store was leaking and I thought I had found the one bottle that wasn’t leaking. Conditioner doesn’t have same issue… I wonder why. It’s official, I have found my new favorite purple shampoo! I love Nexxus so I couldn’t wait to try their purple shampoo on my hair. I have colored hair so it tends to get brassy overtime in the highlights, with just ONE wash it toned the highlights right back to their beautiful tone they should be and left my hair feeling healthy and soft. This shampoo smells fantastic and you don’t have to use much to get the desired effect. I think that for the quality of Nexxus it’s an absolute must have for blondes. First purple shampoo that I use and it does not leave my hair dry. That being said, It got my attention completely. The pigmentation is good, I feel that it shades my hair very well and, more importantly, I do not feel it gets mistreated. I definitely will buy this product again and I displace my favorite shampo by a lot …. which by the way the other brand is not paraben free so I was urging to get something healthier for my hair. This stuff is terrible if you have curly hair! Don’t make the same mistake as me in trying it out in the quest to find good products for your unique hair. This will make your hair feel like wet strands of dry rubber if such a thing could exist! Seriously this product needs a warning label. If I used this without knowing how powerful it was before an important night, it would be ruined. I didn’t even keep it in for the whole recommended 3-5 minutes and it still completely ruined the texture of my hair.Treyvon
