This review will be broken down into two parts: Installation/Delivery & use of the product. Installation/Delivery: Firstly, I am so happy to currently be a member of the Total Tech Membership. As a result, I was able to get this bike for $500. That $500 included not only the bike, but also the delivery AND installation. I ordered the bike about a week ago and set up delivery/install for Friday 1.21.22. The two guys that came to complete the bike delivery and set up were AWESOME! I think we were their last delivery on Friday as they called and said they were driving back from Sheboygan then to Green Bay to pick up bike, then up to Door County. Even though I could tell they had a LONG day these two guys were EXCEPTIONAL. They came in brought the bike downstairs and happily went to work on putting it together. They got the whole thing together and rocking and rolling in about 40 minutes (totally worth me not doing it b/c I'm sure it would've taken me much longer). They gave me a tutorial on use and took everything away. Both of these guys deserve a TEN out of TEN for their efforts & hard work (even on a late Friday night). Thanks MUCH to them Use of Product: my wife did a ride yesterday on the bike and I used it this morning before work. The product is SUPER easy to use and it is VERY VERY QUIET (you can hardly hear it running). I love that they have user profiles that keep track of your workouts and overall distances that you bike (it allows 4 profiles). This bike has a great display for your workouts and it has plenty of choices for programs. It also has a fan and though I haven't used it yet it has a USB port and speakers for listening to what you'd like (I am an ear buds kind of guy). When using the bike it is VERY comfortable (I'm 5'10') and the seat moves with ease. This was the perfect last piece of exercise equipment we needed for our basement gym and it provides a good workout without major stress on the body. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who is on the fence about buying it. Schwinn has pulled a complete bait and switch on these units that to me borders on criminal. There USED to be (and is advertised) a free app that you could download to interact with these units as well as keep track of your workouts. However, that has gone the way of the dodo bird – extinct! The old app is still referenced in the owners/installation menu. The app has been removed from all app stores – no matter the device. What Schwinn has done is convert to a Peleton type structure where the app is now a subscription based service. Total money grab. If the app worked like Peleton, I could almost get behind it – not even close. There are only 3 or 4 free "rides" you can do with the new app but none are interactive to where the resistance varies based on the terrain. The app does make the video come to a halt if you stop pedaling – that's it. No matter what speed you pedal, the video just trundles along at the same speed. I did a quick review of the paid "rides" and they all said "video only" so even the paid app does NOT provide any interactive workout other than the view going by at a constant speed – unless you stop. No resistance changes, no speed changes, just a slow ride through the scenery. Also, the Bluetooth….would you expect that to link to your device and let you play music? NOPE!!! The only thing the Bluetooth will link to is the new app. I was told by Schwinn support that it would link to other apps but I tried 3 of what they recommended and no Bluetooth link unless on their app. Worthless. So, there is also a little fan on the console that has a vent similar to an A/C vent in a car. Great idea…..poor execution. The fan is mounted inside the plastic enclosure in such a way that when the air exits the front of the vent, it's blowing at a 45 degree angle and it shoots off to the left, doing a nice job of cooling your left forearm but not a whisp of air on your face. The seating position on this is also uncomfortable. The seat moves up and down at a steep angle – so much so that the instructions say to get out of the seat before adjusting. That is ridiculous. If they were being honest, they would say, "Our design is poor and you can't actually adjust the seat while seated". If you do decide to adjust the seat while actually seated (so you can tell where you need to set it – duh), you better have at least one foot FIRMLY on the pedal, ready to support most of your body weight. Otherwise, the seat will SLAM to the bottom and jam your back – yes, I did it! This is not like any recumbent bike Ive ever been on – the ergonomics just are NOT good. The angle is just not right. Excellent exercise bike at an excellent price. Free delivery was included and much appreciated that they moved the heavy box into the back room for me. Setup took about 90 minutes with assistance from a step-by-step YouTube video that made identifying parts and order a breeze (SEARCH: "Complete! Assemble Schwinn 270 Recumbent Exercise Bike") The bike is very comfortable and includes a console with lots of information and ability to setup custom programs. It's really not too bulky either and fits well along the wall of our room, so its pretty much out of the way. It has wheels in the front and a handle in the back to enable you to easily lift and move the bike. There is also a media shelf underneath the main display to hold your phone or tablet, and also a USB port to keep your device charged during your work out. The only negative thing you might have is that the Bluetooth capability is limited to using their app for downloading information about your session. You can't stream any music to its internal speakers at all. You will need to use the supplied 3.5mm input port and cable to attach to an MP3 player or phone that has a similar jack to play any music from the speakers. But you can just use your own phone or tablet along with wireless earbuds or headphones for better sound. The bike itself is very quiet when pedaling, which is nice. It has 25 levels of resistance which is plenty, and includes a heart rate monitor via the handles mounted on either side of the seat. A little nice addition is the cup holder/storage for your water bottle and/or remote control. Compare all this to the very similar (and more expensive) Nautilus R618 Recumbent bike that has almost identical features and made by the same company.BobG

It is hard to rate this purchase because I am both pleased and disappointed. I was excited when I saw the thak you card from the company president upon opening the box. What a nice extra touch! But sad when I found they couldn't even keep up the $10 per year domain name to let you know their app is defunct. And of course there is the realization that this company has a corner on this level of fitness equipment (owning Nautilus, Schwinn, Bowflex, and more) so why should they put forth the effort? Despite the extreme cost difference, I would have looked longer at Peloton if I'd known. But, moving past my dismay to what matters most, as a 63 year old female not in the best shape, I put the bike together myself quite effortlessly. That is not to say that it is not quite heavy at near 100 pounds, but the instructions were clear for the most part. One thing I would add is that, when installing the seat bottom, screw the two roads in at the front first, or it will be difficult (if not impossible) to line the screw holes up. In all cases, the best idea when installing multiple screws in a section is to apply all the screws loosely, then tighten all after everything is lined up for that section. As a final fuss, I wish the power cord was less flimsy/more substantial. Functionally, the bike is quiet, smooth and comfortable. The fan has little power, and this is a big deal because wouldn't it be wonderful to feel the wind in your hair as you ride, almost real IF THERE WERE AN APP to elicit the illusion. Rant over, I expect to appreciate the bike this year, and next year if I've done well with goals I may upgrade for more excitement.Deborah
Believe the bike is ok, but never really tried to use it due to shipping damage. The packaging is poor and the Styrofoam breaks down during shipping. I returned the first bike due to damage and ordered a second. Same issue with shipping. Damaged box on front door. Nautilus really needs to improve the packaging. I use it in the winter to compliment my good weather riding on my outdoor recumbent. It is very smooth riding and has more than enough resistant levels. The one problem I have with it is the difficulty moving it from room to room (living room TV watching to storage in spare bedroom). I have a bad back and can't lift it onto it's casters, so I improved it by adding four casters (on the ends of the stabilizers). They are 2 in. rubber casters (two fixed and two locking-swivel). The bike is still very stable, even on hardwood floors. Even for people with good backs, it is much easier and safer to move around. It takes more room to store, but it's not a deal breaker for me.none

Purchased this because I had knee replacement surgery..No instructions provided, had to download off XTRERRA site….I found the instructions difficult ( and I put many things together over the years), Called support….next to useless. The first guy I spoke to "wasn't familiar with the machine." He went to look at one and hung up on me. Next guy read the instructions to me…..I can read, thanks. After 3 hours of struggle, done. Got on machine and found the seat brake was defective. After three or four rotations, the seat would slam forward and drive my newly replaced knee into the center pillar. I called support, Mike told me yep it's probably defective, he will sent me the part but I need to take the machine apart to replace with part as they will not provide labor. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE….Nothing, Nada, Zip…No help….I would give zero stars, but apparently one is the minimum….Now I have to take it apart to send it back and 3 of us have not been able to pull the two main pieces apart!pj in California
A little tough to assemble, took a while to realize the cowling part was screwed together, but after that it went okay. I purchased this bike because all gyms have closed because they have been deemed to be non essential. I have back issues and walking for more than a mile is painful. This recumbent bike allows me to get in my aerobic exercise. This bike is pretty close to the ones at the gym. I was surprised at how sturdy it is. The programmable functions work great. This is a very good, sturdy stationary bike. I bought for my wife (at her request) and she finds it to be comfortable and easy to use. I tried it out and liked it. I am used to using the high-end ones at the gym and this is not bad comparatively. I would give it a 5 star but the directions in assembling the seat/brake were confusing and the plastic cowling on that area did not fit. Also the adjustment lever was very stiff and I didn't realize at first how much pressure I needed to use. I read a review on Amazon where the person had a similar experience. A couple of the screws were stripped, causing me to break the plastic cowling. I called Xterra and they were very helpful and have sent me new plastic pieces for replacement. I love the bike! But the exercise computer does not work well. I changed the batteries, but that didn’t change the problem. I’ve read the user manual telling of how to reset, have tried all that, and it didn’t change anything. The numbers flash constantly without reason. Is there any suggestions on how to fix this? I like this machine . I just started using it because had to wait for my daughter to assemble it. I am 80 and could not see well enough to do it myself. I got it because my back doctor advised that I start using something like it, for exercise. When i went through PT, prior to a surgical procedure on my back, I was advised by the manager of my therapy to get one for exercise, in lieu of walking on the streets. I have been using it for a few days now and can say that I think I made a good choice when purchasing an exercise machine.MAJOR D.
It took over five frustrating hours for two people to put this bike together. The written instructions were extremely confusing. Without the help from YouTube we would still be struggling to finish the job. One of the brackets under the seat was severely bent and no amount of torc would straighten it out. Consequently one of the screws does will not fit in order to further secure the bike seat. I do not feel that I should be inconvenienced further by having someone help me once again to remove the seat, take a photo and provide further information for my complaint to be resolved. All I asked for was to be issued a $50 credit to my Visa card to compensate for the damaged part. On the plus side the bike seat is very comfortable.Ann

The recumbent bike is fantastic!. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. The bike came together without any problems. The bike has a terrific look and feel. Entering personal info for my wife and me (age, gender, weight and height) was easy. Following the embedded workout programs was also very uncomplicated. The seat is large and the foam padding is very comfortable even for hour-long workouts. I like the heart monitor built into to the sidebar grips makes tracking aerobic aspect of the workout simple. At 71 y/o and with arthritis in my knees bilaterally, I had to give up my 3-mile walks. This recumbent bike is very easy on my knees (not to mention my lower lumbar back). I like and use the builtin iPad/tablet stand for reading and watching videos while pumping away. Also, I like the sleek, narrow design – fits in against the wall minimizing its footprint in the room. I especially chose a recumbent bike because of the low impact to the knees versus an upright bike. I drive a lot and the recumbent bike has helped alleviate the lower back and hip pains. I was concerned about the quality and durability especially w/2 sons that workout all the time. It turned out to be a very heavy duty gym quality bike and reasonably priced. My other concern was w/my husband's response and he loved it more than anyone else because of the low impact to his bad knee.Happy Customer

After getting the bike assembled, which was not as easy as other reviews state, there was a grinding noise. We took the bike completely apart and found the belt was not on correctly. It took FOREVER to get it back on. After fixing that there was an issue with the tension cable. After working on this bike for a while it is finally usable. This exercise bicycle is easy to use. I had a sore knee for weeks. I noticed soreness was less after first use. I have used the bike for 2 weeks and knee pain is gone. I was away for a week and mo issues with knee. I start using it again today. This bike displays distance and calories burned. The seat and back cushion are comfortable. I bought this bike several years ago, and have been very pleased with it. I am 97 years old, stagger around with a cane, and have very little strength. This bike is good for me. It's very easy to get on and off – the seat is chair height, with a back and arms making it secure to ride. Other configurations like upright bikes and rowing machines are difficult, and those requiring you to stand are impossible for me to use without falling. I ride this bike for 30 minutes a day at a resistance setting of 5 within the range of 1 – 8, about what I remember the resistance of peddling a real bike at about 10 -15 mph to be. The bike has a very good price; it has the essentials and no more. Other than occasionally tightening a few screws, I've had no maintenance problems. I have two criticisms: (1.) The adjustment for riders of different heights is cumbersome, and (2.) The little computer displays operating time, speed, distance, calories , and something I don't understand. It is difficult to zero the display at the start of a run; I just keep punching until it eventually does, and the calorie count never zeros, but who believes it anyway. The same is a problem with the scan function – just keep punching and eventually it starts working. For someone like me who needs aerobic exercise, but is too old and feeble to go running in the park, this is a great machine.William

This is a decent bike. The seat is comfortable and is very supportive. It really helps with my arthritic legs and I am steadily losing weight. The only con is the computer . I called the company because it was defective( the display for everything keeps going out to where only a piece or two of numbers would show, it would not let me reset any of the counters and the calories was stuck); the company sent another replacement computer. The second one is malfunctioning because of the odometer(it never resets while everything else does). Although the computer is giving me problems, the seat adjusts like it is supposed to for height, the pedal system still works well and the tension works. I think it is an ok buy thus far and I have had it since October 15, 2018.amy1
I initially began looking for the typical upright style bike, but having a back problem, I turned to the recumbent style. As my wife was looking over my shoulder, she suggested I look at one with the back-rest support on it as well. I’m glad she said something…once I got the unit assembled, and tried it out, I realized how important the back-rest was for me. I now know I would not be able to use a unit without it. It was fairly easy to assemble…I only pinched my fingers once. I was impressed with the quality of the unit…it seems to be very well made. It is very quiet during use. The online ad information didn’t say anything about a pulse rate monitor…this unit does have one, built into the handles. The seat and backrest are both comfortable. I am about five-three and had no problem fitting this equipment. I have only used it for a few minutes at this point, but am comfortable knowing that with my physical limitations, I will be able to get some exercise with this unit. My wife who is an exercise nut, and has never been a fan of stationary bikes, also likes it. I get the impression this bike is going to get a lot of use. Broken within 6 months. I bought this bike last summer. After a few months the right petal started making a weird sound like there were rocks bands in the center of machine. After a few days of the noise it only got worse. I noticed little metal balls came out of the petal and the noise became unbearable like metal scratching on metal. I contacted the company who manufactured the bike and completed a form for replacement parts. After they confirmed receipt of the form they did not respond to any of my requests for an update and have not sent the replacement part. They also have a customer service and they literally never answer the calls. Horrible customer service. Dont waste your money one this.Ana

I bought this for the upper body arm bike to continue physical therapy at home. The lower foot bike was a bonus. But I notice the tension sticks in both areas. The lower foot bike can loosen the tension enough for better motion, even though it still feels a bit sticky instead of flowing with smooth motion. The upper arm bike isn't loosening enough to make the stickiness of the motion negligible. I am hoping over time and use that will help. I am reviewing it first day out of the box and put together. I did notice the foot crank and hand crank attachments were both pre-greased and sticky to touch when we put it together. I use this exerciser to regain the strength and stamina I lost during the covid-19 pandemic. I don't have much space, and I was looking for a small unit. It arrived in one large box. Before opening the box, I asked for email instructions to assemble it. Hammacher Schlemmer responded within the hour, and I read the directions a few times before opening the package. My son-in-law helped me complete this, and he also read the instructions in advance. I spread out a quilt and brought the parts into the basement playroom. The nuts/bolts/small pieces were separated and labeled in a molded clear plastic container, so I did not have to deal with many jumbled parts. The unit was easy to put together step-by-step, I found the instructions very clear. Our only mistake was using the wrong washers in the first step, but we quickly corrected that. I tried the exerciser out and could only do 4 minutes! When I went to my health club pre-Covid, I warmed up 20-25 minutes on a stationary recumbent bike before completing the exercise machine circuit and swimming. I am glad I finally purchased this exerciser. It has been three weeks, and I can now do 20 minutes. I don't know if I will ever feel comfortable enough to return to my health club. My husband & I are retired and live in Southeastern Arizona. We needed an indoor exercise option for when it's too hot to exercise outdoors. It was easy to build; took him about an hour (I helped a little). We like the preset programs but also that we have the option to manually select our own. It has a holder for the kindle, magazine, book or phone, & water bottle. The pulse sensors that are right on the handles give the same results as my fitbit. However, my husband says the sensors do not work as accurately for him. My husband is near the upper weight limit, but he says it feels sturdy when he rides it. He has had to get used to the seat though whereas it has always been comfortable for me. The instructions were poor, but I finally got it together (I'm 80). The pictures are way too small, and the written part has way too much detail. Other than that, I put it together in about 4 hours by myself. My wife has been using it for a week now and she loves it (but she is having problems with the "computer" but now I've assembled my row-n-ride machine, I'll read the instructions on the "puter". As I was assembling this, I felt everything was quality. It's a solid machine and it is easy to move. My wife is happy with the machine (she's had 2 hip replacements and she has congenital heart failure (has a pacemaker with a defib unit). She has been using it every day since I assembled it. Very quiet, but seems to be effective for what she needs.

This review will be broken down into two parts: Installation/Delivery & use of the product. Installation/Delivery: Firstly, I am so happy to currently be a member of the Total Tech Membership. As a result, I was able to get this bike for $500. That $500 included not only the bike, but also the delivery AND installation. I ordered the bike about a week ago and set up delivery/install for Friday 1.21.22. The two guys that came to complete the bike delivery and set up were AWESOME! I think we were their last delivery on Friday as they called and said they were driving back from Sheboygan then to Green Bay to pick up bike, then up to Door County. Even though I could tell they had a LONG day these two guys were EXCEPTIONAL. They came in brought the bike downstairs and happily went to work on putting it together. They got the whole thing together and rocking and rolling in about 40 minutes (totally worth me not doing it b/c I'm sure it would've taken me much longer). They gave me a tutorial on use and took everything away. Both of these guys deserve a TEN out of TEN for their efforts & hard work (even on a late Friday night). Thanks MUCH to them Use of Product: my wife did a ride yesterday on the bike and I used it this morning before work. The product is SUPER easy to use and it is VERY VERY QUIET (you can hardly hear it running). I love that they have user profiles that keep track of your workouts and overall distances that you bike (it allows 4 profiles). This bike has a great display for your workouts and it has plenty of choices for programs. It also has a fan and though I haven't used it yet it has a USB port and speakers for listening to what you'd like (I am an ear buds kind of guy). When using the bike it is VERY comfortable (I'm 5'10') and the seat moves with ease. This was the perfect last piece of exercise equipment we needed for our basement gym and it provides a good workout without major stress on the body. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who is on the fence about buying it. Schwinn has pulled a complete bait and switch on these units that to me borders on criminal. There USED to be (and is advertised) a free app that you could download to interact with these units as well as keep track of your workouts. However, that has gone the way of the dodo bird – extinct! The old app is still referenced in the owners/installation menu. The app has been removed from all app stores – no matter the device. What Schwinn has done is convert to a Peleton type structure where the app is now a subscription based service. Total money grab. If the app worked like Peleton, I could almost get behind it – not even close. There are only 3 or 4 free "rides" you can do with the new app but none are interactive to where the resistance varies based on the terrain. The app does make the video come to a halt if you stop pedaling – that's it. No matter what speed you pedal, the video just trundles along at the same speed. I did a quick review of the paid "rides" and they all said "video only" so even the paid app does NOT provide any interactive workout other than the view going by at a constant speed – unless you stop. No resistance changes, no speed changes, just a slow ride through the scenery. Also, the Bluetooth….would you expect that to link to your device and let you play music? NOPE!!! The only thing the Bluetooth will link to is the new app. I was told by Schwinn support that it would link to other apps but I tried 3 of what they recommended and no Bluetooth link unless on their app. Worthless. So, there is also a little fan on the console that has a vent similar to an A/C vent in a car. Great idea…..poor execution. The fan is mounted inside the plastic enclosure in such a way that when the air exits the front of the vent, it's blowing at a 45 degree angle and it shoots off to the left, doing a nice job of cooling your left forearm but not a whisp of air on your face. The seating position on this is also uncomfortable. The seat moves up and down at a steep angle – so much so that the instructions say to get out of the seat before adjusting. That is ridiculous. If they were being honest, they would say, "Our design is poor and you can't actually adjust the seat while seated". If you do decide to adjust the seat while actually seated (so you can tell where you need to set it – duh), you better have at least one foot FIRMLY on the pedal, ready to support most of your body weight. Otherwise, the seat will SLAM to the bottom and jam your back – yes, I did it! This is not like any recumbent bike Ive ever been on – the ergonomics just are NOT good. The angle is just not right. Excellent exercise bike at an excellent price. Free delivery was included and much appreciated that they moved the heavy box into the back room for me. Setup took about 90 minutes with assistance from a step-by-step YouTube video that made identifying parts and order a breeze (SEARCH: "Complete! Assemble Schwinn 270 Recumbent Exercise Bike") The bike is very comfortable and includes a console with lots of information and ability to setup custom programs. It's really not too bulky either and fits well along the wall of our room, so its pretty much out of the way. It has wheels in the front and a handle in the back to enable you to easily lift and move the bike. There is also a media shelf underneath the main display to hold your phone or tablet, and also a USB port to keep your device charged during your work out. The only negative thing you might have is that the Bluetooth capability is limited to using their app for downloading information about your session. You can't stream any music to its internal speakers at all. You will need to use the supplied 3.5mm input port and cable to attach to an MP3 player or phone that has a similar jack to play any music from the speakers. But you can just use your own phone or tablet along with wireless earbuds or headphones for better sound. The bike itself is very quiet when pedaling, which is nice. It has 25 levels of resistance which is plenty, and includes a heart rate monitor via the handles mounted on either side of the seat. After getting the bike assembled, which was not as easy as other reviews state, there was a grinding noise. We took the bike completely apart and found the belt was not on correctly. It took FOREVER to get it back on. After fixing that there was an issue with the tension cable. After working on this bike for a while it is finally usable. The price is fair, but its not worth much money in my opinion. Spend a little more on a better bike. The overall look of it is good but it doesn't function properly.Brittnee
This exercise bicycle is easy to use. I had a sore knee for weeks. I noticed soreness was less after first use. I have used the bike for 2 weeks and knee pain is gone. I was away for a week and mo issues with knee. I start using it again today. This bike displays distance and calories burned. The seat and back cushion are comfortable. I bought this bike several years ago, and have been very pleased with it. I am 97 years old, stagger around with a cane, and have very little strength. This bike is good for me. It's very easy to get on and off – the seat is chair height, with a back and arms making it secure to ride. Other configurations like upright bikes and rowing machines are difficult, and those requiring you to stand are impossible for me to use without falling. I ride this bike for 30 minutes a day at a resistance setting of 5 within the range of 1 – 8, about what I remember the resistance of peddling a real bike at about 10 -15 mph to be. The bike has a very good price; it has the essentials and no more. Other than occasionally tightening a few screws, I've had no maintenance problems. I have two criticisms: (1.) The adjustment for riders of different heights is cumbersome, and (2.) The little computer displays operating time, speed, distance, calories , and something I don't understand. It is difficult to zero the display at the start of a run; I just keep punching until it eventually does, and the calorie count never zeros, but who believes it anyway. The same is a problem with the scan function – just keep punching and eventually it starts working. For someone like me who needs aerobic exercise, but is too old and feeble to go running in the park, this is a great machine.William

This review will be broken down into two parts: Installation/Delivery & use of the product. Installation/Delivery: Firstly, I am so happy to currently be a member of the Total Tech Membership. As a result, I was able to get this bike for $500. That $500 included not only the bike, but also the delivery AND installation. I ordered the bike about a week ago and set up delivery/install for Friday 1.21.22. The two guys that came to complete the bike delivery and set up were AWESOME! I think we were their last delivery on Friday as they called and said they were driving back from Sheboygan then to Green Bay to pick up bike, then up to Door County. Even though I could tell they had a LONG day these two guys were EXCEPTIONAL. They came in brought the bike downstairs and happily went to work on putting it together. They got the whole thing together and rocking and rolling in about 40 minutes (totally worth me not doing it b/c I'm sure it would've taken me much longer). They gave me a tutorial on use and took everything away. Both of these guys deserve a TEN out of TEN for their efforts & hard work (even on a late Friday night). Thanks MUCH to them Use of Product: my wife did a ride yesterday on the bike and I used it this morning before work. The product is SUPER easy to use and it is VERY VERY QUIET (you can hardly hear it running). I love that they have user profiles that keep track of your workouts and overall distances that you bike (it allows 4 profiles). This bike has a great display for your workouts and it has plenty of choices for programs. It also has a fan and though I haven't used it yet it has a USB port and speakers for listening to what you'd like (I am an ear buds kind of guy). When using the bike it is VERY comfortable (I'm 5'10') and the seat moves with ease. This was the perfect last piece of exercise equipment we needed for our basement gym and it provides a good workout without major stress on the body. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who is on the fence about buying it. Schwinn has pulled a complete bait and switch on these units that to me borders on criminal. There USED to be (and is advertised) a free app that you could download to interact with these units as well as keep track of your workouts. However, that has gone the way of the dodo bird – extinct! The old app is still referenced in the owners/installation menu. The app has been removed from all app stores – no matter the device. What Schwinn has done is convert to a Peleton type structure where the app is now a subscription based service. Total money grab. If the app worked like Peleton, I could almost get behind it – not even close. There are only 3 or 4 free "rides" you can do with the new app but none are interactive to where the resistance varies based on the terrain. The app does make the video come to a halt if you stop pedaling – that's it. No matter what speed you pedal, the video just trundles along at the same speed. I did a quick review of the paid "rides" and they all said "video only" so even the paid app does NOT provide any interactive workout other than the view going by at a constant speed – unless you stop. No resistance changes, no speed changes, just a slow ride through the scenery. Also, the Bluetooth….would you expect that to link to your device and let you play music? NOPE!!! The only thing the Bluetooth will link to is the new app. I was told by Schwinn support that it would link to other apps but I tried 3 of what they recommended and no Bluetooth link unless on their app. Worthless. So, there is also a little fan on the console that has a vent similar to an A/C vent in a car. Great idea…..poor execution. The fan is mounted inside the plastic enclosure in such a way that when the air exits the front of the vent, it's blowing at a 45 degree angle and it shoots off to the left, doing a nice job of cooling your left forearm but not a whisp of air on your face. The seating position on this is also uncomfortable. The seat moves up and down at a steep angle – so much so that the instructions say to get out of the seat before adjusting. That is ridiculous. If they were being honest, they would say, "Our design is poor and you can't actually adjust the seat while seated". If you do decide to adjust the seat while actually seated (so you can tell where you need to set it – duh), you better have at least one foot FIRMLY on the pedal, ready to support most of your body weight. Otherwise, the seat will SLAM to the bottom and jam your back – yes, I did it! This is not like any recumbent bike Ive ever been on – the ergonomics just are NOT good. The angle is just not right. Excellent exercise bike at an excellent price. Free delivery was included and much appreciated that they moved the heavy box into the back room for me. Setup took about 90 minutes with assistance from a step-by-step YouTube video that made identifying parts and order a breeze (SEARCH: "Complete! Assemble Schwinn 270 Recumbent Exercise Bike") The bike is very comfortable and includes a console with lots of information and ability to setup custom programs. It's really not too bulky either and fits well along the wall of our room, so its pretty much out of the way. It has wheels in the front and a handle in the back to enable you to easily lift and move the bike. There is also a media shelf underneath the main display to hold your phone or tablet, and also a USB port to keep your device charged during your work out. The only negative thing you might have is that the Bluetooth capability is limited to using their app for downloading information about your session. You can't stream any music to its internal speakers at all. You will need to use the supplied 3.5mm input port and cable to attach to an MP3 player or phone that has a similar jack to play any music from the speakers. But you can just use your own phone or tablet along with wireless earbuds or headphones for better sound. The bike itself is very quiet when pedaling, which is nice. It has 25 levels of resistance which is plenty, and includes a heart rate monitor via the handles mounted on either side of the seat. A little nice addition is the cup holder/storage for your water bottle and/or remote control. The R5i bike itself performs well, but we a very disappointed in the fact that it will not properly interface with our blue tooth devices. This feature was one of deciding factors in purchasing the bike. We can not record and save our workout results without this. One call to support has pointed us to a Beta version of a new app, but it does not work thus far. We sincerely hope LifeSpan will come up with a fix.Michael W.
The actual bike is fantastic, if you can get it to work, and you are totally on your own if you need assistance. Ours (brand new purchase) worked for about 6 weeks and then started making a loud grinding noise when being peddled and now it's totally unusable. You can check the support section here and you'll see that there is only a chatbot available to contact if you have issues with your item. If you're lucky, you can find the phone number to support in the manual, but you just leave voicemail after voicemail and no one calls you back. If you do purchase, definitely make sure to get a good protection plan, because LifeSpan will not back up their manufacturers warranty and there is no way to hold them accountable. Even the chatbot says that they will get back to you between 7-10 days with next steps, but there is no way (aside from screenshots) to show that you've submitted a ticket (they do not send you a confirmation email), so you end up continuously submitting tickets to no one. 7-10 days of not being able to use a $1,600 piece of equipment and even then, no call back. Luckily I purchased a great protection plan, which is facilitating the repair/return here. Such a bummer. I love this bike, actually used to own a R3i years ago, but I have had the same issue with LifeSpan not backing up their equipment. I find it ironic that they're offering discounts on more orders when they can't return the call or follow-up on the tickets of their current customers.Heather F.
The R5i Recumbent Bike is exactly what was advertised. Convenient, easy to use, and quiet. I am a large person and it is comfortable. It is very nice to have a device that can get my heart rate up and a good sweat going while watching TV at home. Received and assembled about a week ago. So far only good things to say about the unit. Very well packaged. No damage. Very well engineered. All the pieces fit together perfectly. All bolt holes aligned. The instructions are very clear. The hardware for each numbered step is packaged in a separate plastic bag. No sorting through a pile of hardware. Operation is very smooth. I can't believe what a great product this is, in every way so far! Here are some things I wanted to know, before I purchased it- Start with assembly: EVERYTHING neatly packaged (step by step packages) with easy to read diagrams and instructions. I had my son-in-law assemble it for me, in less than an hour-because I have physical limitations. He is a perfectionist and was impressed with this bike and the complete instructions and parts. Did I mention this comes with the tools needed for assembly???!!!!! It does! This is not a flimsy bike, it is very stable. It weighs only 50-some pounds, but it is a solid piece of exercise equipment. Assembled it is about the size of a skinny shopping cart, taking up much less space than I expected. I live on the second floor and it is VERY quiet to use. It has several monitoring features to track heart rate and more. It is comfortable to use, too. I have some weight issues right now and this is one of the lesser priced bikes that accommodate my height and weight range. (I am quite tall-it is adjustable for many heights). Last but not least-it is so darned cute in all of it's "pinkness." It is an attractive piece of exercise equipment. This bike so far, has been an awesome investment for me-well worth my money. I expected less and got so much more. The quality of this item leads me to believe I should have no problems with it, any time soon. Assembly was relatively easy as long as you follow the instructions carefully. This bike does what it supposed to however not very comfortably. There is hardly any cushion in the seat and backrest. I understand this is not supposed to be a luxury recliner however it’s really hard to exercise when after five minutes of peddling your butt hurts. That’s saying a lot for someone like me who has a lot of extra padding to peddle off. Also the handlebars beside the seat that have the heart rate sensors is set to low, I have to actually stop peddling and Scooch down the seat just to reach for full contact. (I am 5’2) this may not be a problem for taller People.Tiff33

In this day and age just the fact that this bike came across the country in a few days was impressive. Every subsequent step has been equally so. Unboxing was quite simple for such a multi-faceted item, and the video instructions and toolkit were GREAT. (Tip – use the Youtube video, not the befuddling paper instructions) I felt step number 4 (pedals) could benefit from a better CU in the video or the printed guide, but other than that it was really simple and MUCH better than many IKEA items I've had to assemble/destroy in frustration. I received mine and assembled it right out of the box. The first think I noticed was the quality. Top the the line equipment !! I took my time to assemble with no problems. The next day I exercised on it for a solid 45 minutes on #6 setting. Making a few seat adjustments, etc. I put the puter in scan mode so I could see everything throughout the workout. Checked the pedals and the arm attachments to ensure snug and tight after my initial assembly and 45 minute workout. Snugged a few things up and this machine is ready for some long workouts of up to an hour and beyond. _x000D_ I will say this from over 35 years experience in exercise having had many exercise machines running marathons and Ironman triathlon training that this is an awesome piece of exercise equipment. Would be 5 stars if I thought that the display readings were accurate. Rapid and easy assembly. All parts fit well, some scary reviews not withstanding. Illustrations could definitely be larger, particularly the pedal installation. Product works well and quietly. Step-in/step-out mounting/dismounting is a convenient feature. My wife and I both use it and the seat adjusts quickly and easily. Seat is a good size and comfortable but we would like it a little softer. An illuminated display would be a helpful improvement. Also, I have low confdence in the display readouts, other than the elapsed time. So far we are well satisfied. As for durability, only time will tell.
(UPDATE) Bike developed a slight "clicking" noise at approx 400 miles. Found that left pedal had loosened slighly (my fault). Tightened pedal (securely this time). No more problem! Check those pedals occasionally!Chuck LeMond

My wife loves this machine. So far it hasn’t had any issues. It wasn’t very difficult to put together either. The assembly instructions were a little tough to walk through, but I managed. the only issue is that the seat bracket that you slide back and forth is a little wobbly due to too much clearance on the rail, but it isn’t a deal breaker. the metal coating seems very tough and durable. it is also nice that we don’t have to plug it in to work. The machine is also very quiet as well. The seat is comfortable too.daniel
The Marcy NS-1201R Magnetic Resistance Recumbent Bike is simple to put together and takes a small amount of time. The Booklet that is included has very good instructions and pictures to assist in assembly. My 12 year old Granddaughter and i put it together with only one simple problem. After it was assembled i read the manual on how it operates and climbed on board to give it a spin. The booklet says the LCD screen wakes up when you begin to cycle but i noticed it did not on mine. I tried pushing the buttons on the screen and the screen lite up but showed stop in top corner even though i was pedaling. I took the screen off and checked the electrical connection and that was fine. Then i checked the connection where the front post connects to the main body and found one of the connections had been bent down. After straightening the connector it worked fine. This exerciser uses magnetic resistance which is adjusted by the user with a knob on the front post to increase or decrease the difficulty of the pedaling. It goes from 1 with is easy to 8 which is hardest. The LCD screen shows how you are doing by scanning your speed, distance, time and calories burned. It keeps a running record of your workout or you can clear the record by holding down the reset button. The seat is very comfortable and adjustable and can get you closer to the pedals or further away as needed. You can hang onto the handle bars next to the screen or the ones located at seat level. I wish the seat back adjusted forward or backward independent to the seat but it does not. The bike is well built and i saw no defects in welds and bolts went into place easily. The bike is quiet and smooth to operate and i feel i will use a lot more than i would go to a gym due to the convenience of having equipment at home.jsjsjsjs
It took longer than estimated to arrive by a little over a week from original date; by w/ the virus shutdown, it's understandable. My wife and I have both used it several times and are both pleased w/ it. Quite sturdy for an inexpensive piece of home equipment. Set up wasn't bad either. Despite some concerns over being comfortable for people of wide ranges in height we have found no real issue. I'm 6'2" and my wife is 5'1" and it accommodates us both well. There may be one or two minor wish items for this bike, but again, they're minor. I'm pleased enough w/ the product that I would consider another piece of equipment from this manufacturer.PartsGuru
