If you have never used retinol before and want to add it into your routine, start with this one! It is so gentle but very effective! I seen very noticeable results in about 3 weeks and at around the 6 week mark my skin texture had completely changed. I did bump up to a higher percentage after I finished this tube off, but go at your own pace according to what your skin can tolerate. A lot of reviewers say it burns. It does a little but this is what made me feel like it's working. I didn't get any redness just felt a tingle. Aren't retinoids supposed to sting a little if they're strong? I can't say I pay close enough attention to see a difference. Then again, I've tried other retinoids and don't see a difference with them either, so I might just not have an eye for gradual improvement. Some other Retinoid products didn't have the slightest sting, which made me feel like they just don't have any oomph. But I could be wrong. After exfoliating in the shower and application, the product stings my skin and it has a burning sensation that has lingered for several minutes. My face is quite red from it – probably from the Retinol and possibly from applying it ontop of my serum with hyaluronic acid (my mistake). All the previous times I've applied it, there is a slight tingling where you massage the product into the skin. Not unpleasant but on sensitive skin it may be irritating and may not be suitable to apply every day. Press down on the top to squeeze out the product – a full push down dispenses just a touch too much product for my face – but I would probably use this amount on an extra dry day. The product comes out the colour between pale yellow to pale seafoam green. There is only a slight scent – not overpowering but not fragrance-free and I quite enjoy it. Bonus: you can unscrew the lid to scoop out the product at the end of use. I know it's supposed to be a 2-in-1 serum with cream but it's consistency and the feel on my skin makes me want to either use a serum first and/or apply a moisturizer after. I've been applying a serum before and it seems to be the best route for me. It's also winter so my skin is naturally dryer than normal so I would be happy to use this product without an additional serum or moisturizer in the hot summer. It's got a thick consistency but is not greasy at all. It soaks into the skin quickly and doesn't leave any kind of residue. Sometimes when I use a serum and moisturizer, there's an odd reaction where it pills or balls up, like dead skin – this does not do that. Oh my god I love this! Feel so lucky to find a 1) fragrance free 2)body moisturiser that 3) contains retinol, and 4)that retinol is encapsulated! It’s beautifully moisturising, nice and thick but not greasy, leaves my eczematic skin nice and protected. On top of that, my skin LOVES retinoids, and this helped my eczema flair around my belly button clear a little more quickly (beware those who are new to retinoids though this will not be your experience AT FIRST). Love the ingredients, in fact if this had ceramides in it, it’d basically be MY perfect body product haha. The retinol is encapsulated, stabilising it and making it more effective at penetrating the skin barrier while also making it gentler! This is also a great priced product which makes all of this even more exciting to me. Only ding I have is the pump! It’s terrible lol, and mine basically stopped working with 3/4 of the tub full! The moisturiser, while perfect for my skin, is too thick for the pump, so I ended up opening the lid to scoop it with my hands which… is hard when I’m wet after a shower! Plus I get nervous adding moisture to my tub products, worried that it might overwhelm the preservatives and lead to microbe growth. I have been trying to incorporate anti-aging products into my skincare routine, and wanted to try a cream based version instead of a retinol serum as my skin is sensitive to new products. I have been regularly using the product since I purchased it, and have been noticing improvements in my skin. Using the cream did result in some skin peeling near my eyebrows during the first few weeks, but that is apparently a sign that the product is working. I was sent this by bzzagent to try and give my honest opinion. So in the middle of my 2 week trial and completely unrelated, I broke out with MRSA. I really like this cream because during the winter months my skin gets really dry. This cream really moisturizes your skin but it doesn't leave a greasy film and doesn't feel like it's just sitting on top of your skin it really feels like it absorbs directly into your skin. It has a lot of natural ingredients so it sort of has this earthy smell which I think is related to the fact that it has mushrooms in it. I'm really sensitive to smells so I actually really like the earthy smell over gross perfumes or like a candy smell that other skin creams add to their products. The cream feels like it melts into your skin it's really nice and lightweight. I broke out a little bit after my first use, but I don't think that was related to this cream. I've continued to use it and haven't had any skin conditions. I love that this is vegan and cruelty free because it really can cater to a lot of different people who have different needs and wants out of their beauty products. I have purchased several times from Amazon. After using it a few times I really started noticing results!! Several people close to me commented on how good my skin looked because my wrinkles and texture were disappearing or softening. The best aspects of this product are: 1. Wow another CeraVe product that has been developed well for the skin. This is the second product in the CeraVe range that I have tried and have had great results with. I am in my early flurries and needed to seriously start thinking about a good retinol product to keep my skin hydrated, smooth and plump and this product definitely won me over. The packaging is plain and simple but definitely don’t judge this book by it’s cover. The pump bottle the product comes in is fantastic and not only a great size to fit in your travel bag but easy enough to store at home without any fuss. The pump bottle generally dispenses enough for each use with one pump. I sometimes do two pumps to saturate the skin a bit more but it is not necessarily needed each time I just wanted a bit more some evenings. The serum is lovely and light and not too thick for an evening product. I used in the evenings on a daily basis and found it spread evenly across my face and neck area and didn’t leave a greasy feeling afterwards. My skin absorbed this serum very well. I have sensitive skin however usually like something with a scent as I am lucky the scent doesn’t normally irritate my skin. This product doesn’t have a scent though which would suit most people it’s just a preference for me that I like. It certainly didn’t take away how well this product is performing. I used this product for a block of two weeks each evening after a hot shower and a face free of any other products. My face definitely is showing an even tone now and my skin is smooth and silky. Some of my fine lines around my lip area have reduced. I took photos for this one and could see a slight difference which was amazing. I love this product! I have been using this product in my night time skin care routine for almost a month now. It has greatly improved my skin texture and evened out my skin tone, my stubborn acne marks are finally starting to fade, and I have no new breakouts. I’ve never found a retinol-based product that doesn’t make my skin dry and flaky but this one caused no dryness or flakiness whatsoever! Well, this works. I had a bad journey with tretinoin, but i thought retinol wasn’t strong enough, but i gave it a shot to start slow again because i have dark spots and i feel under the lips a bit saggy and i tried every vitamin C or glycolic serum and nothing happened. And i started with skin cycling at least 2 weeks and then i used every 2 days. And i bought the serum Faded, so I’m using the two of them, but never the same day. And yes i felt my skin a stinging sensation, so i use Cicaplast from La Roche Posay before retinol over the more sensitive parts like the nose, lips and eyes, then retinol and after 20 minutes i use Tolerance lotion from avene, and i don’t like the farmacy stuff, but believe me, those stuff keep my on my retinol journey without irritation or break outs. The mineral water it is really good to keep the irritation away. So i felt in one month my skin very nice, less pores, the dark spots are amazingly cleared up, the texture is the best i had in years. Let me start out by saying that I've been using a .5% retinol cream on my face for a few years with no issues at all so I thought it was time to go up in retinol strength. After the 2nd-3rd application of this product in the first week, my face was extremely sensitive and I had visible red rashes on my face. I was unable to use any toner or face wash on my face with intense burning for days. I figured I needed to spread out the time in between application even further so I only used it once a week for a couple weeks and then moved to applications once about every 3 days. I wasn't too surprised by the reactions I had because I have heard of a "purging" period in the first month of use. After a month I was still having patches of dry, red rashes though less severe than before. After a while I realized I had developed eczema on my face which I have had on my hands before in the past so I had to start using my old eczema cream on my face multiple times a day. After a solid 2 months of use and still dealing with visible rashes on my face, I decided to stop the use of the retinol cream and after one week the eczema completely went away. This week i started using the retinol cream again after having not used it for approximately 10 days. After 2 applications with 2 days in between the eczema is back again and I'm dealing with these rashes on my face again. Unfortunately this is not the retinol cream for me.Makayla

I had been using retinol for 4 months before I decided to try the 1% strength because I just hadn’t really seen much difference prior. I was nervous as to how much it would irritate my skin so I followed recommendations if only 3 times a week, moisturize well, stay out of sun, etc. I used it for 2 weeks, saw more results than I had in the previous 4 months, had no issues with irritation, redness or peeling/ flaking. This cream is lightweight, does not cause milia, is pleasant smelling, does not break you out or irritate you even though r-retinoate claims to be stronger than retinol. I have been using this since before christmas when it was recommended to be by a Medik8 aesthetician who gave me a lovely facial at the Hans Crescent store. Having being entitled to a large discount on the day I took the plunge. Ive been using it for a few weeks now, working up to every other night and feel that its helped by rosacea prone, sensitive skin enormously. It the first retinol product I've actually been able to use long enough to get anti-aging benefits with any reaction. She suggested I just needed one bottle to use for three months and then I could move to another, less expensive in their retinol range, however I'm loving this so much and so pleased with the results that i think ill be tempted to buy another.sandrap2303

I think this serum is irritating and drying out my under eye area. Not always but often after using this at night I wake up with red and sore eye area and this is the only new-ish thing to my skincare routine (I have been using it a few nights a week for a few months now). The texture of the cream is lovely and I don't experience any instant irritation, but something in this just doesn't seem to suit my skin. The packaging is also unnecessarily bulky and the pump dispenses way too much product. I really don't get the high price point, either. I think I might get use out of this as a face serum, just avoiding the eye area completely.TiinaK

Excellent eye cream, it plumps and smoothes the lines of my undereye area. I apply generously 10-15mins before makeup, and let it absorbe. It makes it a visible difference almost immediately and seems to help with the skin appearance in the mid-long term. It contains some retinol (not sure how much), but it is gentle enough for the delicate skin around the eyes. I find that if I apply it on the eyelid too close to the lashline, it eventually goes into the eyes (and it stings!), so I keep a safe distance.manuela.g

I've just received the cream, and I applied it in the morning after exfoliating my face and putting on a water-based toner. Pros: -The cream feels pretty lightweight on the skin, seems that it can be suitable for oily skin -Usually it is recommended that Retinol should not be used in the day, but with an SPF30, it seems that this can be used in daytime as well. -Fragrance is not too strong, and smells rather refreshing Cons: -There isn't any information on how strong the % of Retinol is in the formula, but I'm guessing that the % is quite low, as it did not mention Retinol at all other than the product name. -If you want to put other skincare products or makeup over this cream, you have to do it immediately after you apply this cream, or not there will be bits all over your face. I'm pretty sure that this is due to the film that the product forms on your face after it settled to protect the moisture in your skin or to protect your skin from the UV light, coz I find that many other sunscreen also has this problem. -People with sensitive skin should still try a bit on a small part of your skin (perhaps not your face) first before you try out this product. -People who dislike fragrance could find having a fragrance a con -I didn't put this product too near my eyes, so I don't find the product sting. Since it's not an eyecream and has SPF in it, I recommend you not to put it to near your eyes. PS This is a first impression review, so I'm not sure about the anti-wrinkle effects yet.iHerb Customer

I do not usually leave reviews but I hope this can help someone. I am 33 years old and have been using this product for about 2 years (along with the night cream) and have seen wonders. I broke out super bad 2 years ago (first time this happened but I think it was my makeup products) and tried several products but nothing seemed to work. I purchased an acne product, which seemed to work but was leaving my face super dried. After researching and in addition to my acne products, I decided to purchase the ROC day cream, ROC night cream, ROC eye cream and a Vitamin C Serum and all I receive are compliments of my skin. I have not changed my skin regime since. This moistures my skin very well, leaves it soft and is also delaying any visible signs of aging. BUT, you must be consistent. I have not missed a day/night routine and I truly believe this is what has helped. You cannot test it for a week and expect immediate results. It took about 3 months for my face to clear up and finally glow again but I am so so so glad I did not stop. These creams last me a few months so it's a great price for a great product. I’ve used this product for many years. It has been referred to me by a dermatologist. I think it’s pretty strong and I’ve never been able to build my tolerance up to every day. I’ve used it twice a week for many years now and definitely notice a difference when I stop using it. This spring, I started using 3-4 products pretty consistently and experienced some of the best skin of my life. I've never used this type of product before, but it became part of my nightly regimen. I didn't exactly know what it would do, and truthfully, I didn't really think it was working. I've been out of it for over a month now and wasn't planning on re-upping, but my skin has been going nuts! I've deduced that this is the missing crucial ingredient in my routine. I have pretty sensitive skin and don't react too well to new products. I was pretty scared to try this, but it didn't seem too hard to get used to; and while it's no miracle cream, it did seem to help keep my skin stable. Wow!! First off, this product smells and feels divine. Second, it makes your skin look so youthful and smooth the following day its fantastic. You can see results after the first use. I have oily/combo skin so I use this in conjunction with a healing balm. Wash my face, apply HA serum from the ordinary, then go in with this retinol and last the Anfisa healing balm on top. I love this product. No need to use much so it will last for a long time meaning a great value. My skin feels great and when you use a brush to apply it you feel like you are at your own private spa. Im obsessed with aging beautifully I have many products but this product made such a noticeable difference to my skin texture and appearance I ended up using this every day retinol has been proven good for all skin types and I have other retinol based products that I use for my under eye area and face and this product has replaced those and the added benefit is that I can use this on my body as well . You will notice definite results especially in your skin texture and elasticity in a few day more so after a couple of weeks of use . I tried this product back in 2014 when for 1st time I got psoriasis patches on my face. I was depressed because of that as dry patches you can't hide even with best makeup. I was so self conscious about leaving house facing people and explaining to everybody why my skin is so bad(i looked like my skin was burned and almost deformed). I have tried many creams and treatments( acids like glycolic etc.). Nothing was helping only made my psoriasis more red, itchy and rough. This product change my life. After few uses on dry areas I have noticed that skin is less red and itchy. In a month most of my patches(around nose,cheeks) where gone! Anything left was easier to cover with makeup. My confidence was back again. As psoriasis is my life struggle and keeps coming back now I know I have something that will help me to live with it and make this hard condition bearable. This trio set me back quite a bit. I don't know what I expected, but absolutely nothing was not the answer. I used this product as directed every day, certain I was going to see a change in my skin, but there was absolutely no change whatsoever. I'm in my 50's and take good care of my skin, but I still expected a hint of brightening, or pore reduction, or smoothing of lines. ZERO!! This product, I don't know what it is, but they are laughing all the way to the bank because they put some inert nonsense into three fancy bottles and pried our hard earned money out of our wallets. And as for pumping the two reactive "agents" together," well it's total nonsense and I think it's two sides of the same 70s cold cream that do nothing for your skin you can't get done for $7 at the drug store. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this product because you are throwing your money away. I ordered this as a TSV with great expectations, I thought for the price it must be good. I used faithfully for the 6 weeks as indicated for the first time period. I saw a little result in the texture and brightness of my skin but feel considering the cost, I have other products that are just as good if not better. So here is the clicker,what is it with QVC instead of the usual paper work on the inside of the box for returns, it's on the outside- 3of3 labels to peel off. The 3rd one should be the return shipping label but there is no #3. So you have to call customer service and wait for the return label in the mail. This same scenario has happened to me twice. The Phase 3 bottle didn't have enough product in it so I only got 8 days instead of the full two weeks. I was sorely disappointed and frankly feel completely ripped off. Before buying this I read another review on here saying they ran out early too, so I was super careful not to pump the full 2 pumps each time to be sure I had enough (it says 1-2 pumps each time). I couldn't believe it when I ran out of the Phase 3 bottle on day 8. You can't open the bottle to extract the remnants. It was such a big build-up to the most potent formula and then to not get the full quantity left a bitter taste for me. I feel like BeautyBio is incredibly stingy with their quantities. In terms of the actual efficacy of the product, I purchased the GloPRO to ensure I got the absolute best effects from the R45. I noticed some reduced fine lines around my eyes but that's it.suzyq

It did exactly what it claims for. I followed the instruction on the package of the product and I have seen improvements on my skin. I have sensitive skin but it doesnt irritate my skin at all (except for redness and skin peeling as anticipated). I've been using this for the past 3 weeks and I'm already noticing a beautiful difference in my skin! I used the buffer cream it came with for the first week because I was worried using it alone might cause adverse reactions but I found that cream too heavy for my easily congested skin. So, I've been using just the serum for the past 2 weeks and although I haven't had any reactions, my skin did become quite sensitive to a couple of products which made me cut down the retinol usage to every other day now. This seems to be working fine for me so far. Maybe I might switch to every day use after my skin gets a little more used to it. Anyhow, great product, this is my first retinol product and I love it. I love how it's making my skin look already. I did have a purging phase which made me worried that it's not working for my skin but after reading up on it on google I'm much more content and my skin is clearing out wonderfully now. I so wanted to be able to use this! I am 48 and my face shows it. My skin is pretty sensitive, and I absolutely adore the sensitive skin line. I thought if I used the buffer and only used this twice a week, my face could handle it. But unfortunately I began having redness, itching, and peeling. Dermalogica made returning it so easy. I can use the vitamin C products, so that, along with being diligent with SPF, will be my go-to defense against aging. It’s still very early days, have only been using this retinol for a few weeks. I use it every three nights at the moment. I can tell it’s started working, when I wake in the morning my skin just looks a wee. It better. Haven't had flaking or irritation so far but I have used retinol before. I would rate it higher but I’m not fond of the packaging. It doesn’t stand upright and the leaflet was missing.Andrea M.
