Bought this bike under some recommendations of online cycle reviewers, so far I'm really pleased. The bike came in great shape, only had to put together a few key items (handle bars, front wheel, and seat). I was ready to go in about 1hr. I've taken it on a few 30 minute rides, the seat is definitely firm but more forgiving than other road bikes. I think the shifters on the brakes and the overall feel of the bike are very high end compared to the cost. I like the styling and look forward to riding it to work on a regular basis. If there is one thing to complain about it's that the shimano claris derailleurs have recommended combinations front-to-back, so they suggest not using the lowest front gear with the top two highest rear gears and vice versa. The front derailleur offers a "half shift" if your chain rubs, which really comes in handy when you want to break the shimano rules! Next steps: trying the bike with a baby carrier on it! Note: it came with a lot of warning/warranty/branding stickers. They all came off (some easier than others) with some good fingernail picking. No glue residue left behind – really happy about that.CarlFS

Excellent bike. Very smooth riding with a comfortable riding position. Quality parts from Shimano make for fast shifts with good gear range. I ride primary for aerobic exercise and find the bike gives me a great workout while providing a smooth, solid ride. I assembled it myself but needed to have a bike shop to fine tune the front disc brake and true the front wheel in order for the front wheel to spin freely. (Although the bike comes with all the necessary assembly tools (hex wrenches and pedal wrench), the included assembly instructions are not very good w respect to the front wheel / disc brake assembly). But as it turns out Vilano explains that you need to have a bike shop check the assembly in order for the warranty to be valid … not something I knew going in, but the bike shop’s assembly review and front wheel / disc brake tuning ($80) gives me added peace of mind. I should add that Vilano customer service is outstanding. Their toll free phone automated attendant menu could do for a few more option selections to make things more intuitive, but once you get through to the staff they is great. They give you the sense that they are genuinely interested in helping you solve whatever problem you’ have. They listen well, seem to be very knowledgeable about the product and follow up as promised. Overall I’m very pleased with the bike … smooth and solid with good quality parts. We ordered this bike for our teenage son. We added the Pro Build, since we don’t have any close bike shops and we knew he would ride it right away. The bike came on time and packaged neatly. Our son put it together in about 15 minutes and took it out for a ride. So nice that it worked perfectly! Totally worth the slight up charge. I researched bikes in order to find a hybrid bike that delivered more road performance than trail, at a reasonable cost. This one fit the bill and I believe is a clear winner in the price range $300. It does take a while to set up, and you should understand bikes or bring it to a shop to handle that for you. I understand bikes and I still became tripped up on the front derailleur, and it took me a couple days of working on it and reviewing video to first see where I messed up in attempting to fine tune it and then figuring out where to set it back to where it originally was set and then fine tuning it from that point again once I realized that's all it needed. The back derailleur and the disc brakes also needed adjustment and I did fine on them though but again, you need to understand bikes and also to comprehend videos on the subject matter. Took the bike for my first ride recently, so this is a maiden voyage review of approximately 7 to 8 miles on steep hills. It performs admirably on hills, where the 24 gears are a must! The bike is a performer for the price! Tires felt strong, frame is solid, disc brakes are great. The seat may need to be changed out for comfort, however, they are cheap enough and for the price of the bike, should not be considered a deterrent. It is better to NOT have a front shock for more road use, as that absorbs energy going up steep hills and that's what I needed this for. Had the bike pushing 40 m.p.h. or over and was very stable. Be sure to check the wheel hub and brakes prior to doing that though. Five stars for the quality on price point and the outlet shipped it fast and delivery time is reasonable. Remember, assembly IS required. The bike is solid but will need some adjustment once assembled though, so your call on how you do it, yourself or professionally, as it can be quite frustrating. If you were worried about quality, don't, it will get the job done for leisure to intermediate riding endeavors I believe based on my first take. I purchased a Trek Emonda SLR 6 for riding those hills of Kent during the summer months (I have a winter Trek Domane). I've been out on a few test rides already and all I can say is how amazed I am. The bike is so light, smooth and instantly kicks-in when you put the power down (both on the flats and up the toughest of climbs). eTap makes gear changing smooth and seamless and I love the viper red and carbon blue colour scheme. This is a pretty good bike for the most part. It is really for a casual bike rider not so much a long distance rider. It's a bit heavy for long distance but seems to be pretty good quality with the exception of the tires. I think we'll probably replace them with some good quality ones since my husband does ride quite a bit. Price was really good. The bike had a few issues mainly due to someone assembling that didnt know what they were doing. Some minor scratches too but those look like they were from how it was returned. The rear derailleur hanger was bent and needed replaced. Got one for $10 and it was as good as new. Someone tried to put the peddles on backwards and damaged the starting threads a bit. Also had to do a lot of spoke adjustments to true the wheels. The bike arrived on time like it said it would. The packaging was good. No damages and all the places that needed be protected are all cover with cardboard and foam pieces. Assembling the bike was a breeze no real headache there, whew! Thank god for that because the assembling instructions that came with the bike wasn’t really much help either way. Everything else about the bike was great I like the way it feels. The quality isn’t the best but it’s also not the worst…it’s definitely you get what you paid for. If you’re planning on doing any long-distanced riding with this bike I’d the first thing you want to do is change the tires. I wish I didn’t have to return the bike but I guess I’m going to. The bike height is taller than I expected. I went off of the sizing chart that the original website recommended to me. I bought a medium and I’m 5’7”. Rented one out in Cali to do some riding in the Monterey/Carmel area and along the PCW. Loved the bike at first. It climbs really nicely, was sporty and responsive, shifted well, and handled the steeps around this area well (if you don't know the area you might be surprised to find there are a bunch of high teen gradient climbs, not necessarily long ones, but long enough that you get a workout). However, I did find one major design flaw. When turning, if I was actually turning the handlebars in a slow speed turn (away from the direction I was turning) if I had my pedal at the three o'clock position the toe on my offside I would hit the front tire which nearly caused me to go down (it would have been a slow speed crash, but at 63 I have had too many friends break hips and other bones on such slow speed crashes). Did talk to the guys in the shop when I returned the bike and was told they have had other people mention that problem as well. This is something that you wouldn't want to have to think about every time you took a slow speed turn where you might be pedaling or even maybe out of the saddle because it would be easy for it to cause a crash. I bought this to replace my 2014 Defy 1 composite that was ruined when a car hit me. It did not disappoint. It is smooth and comfortable yet responsive and fast. Great value for what you get with little compromise. I love the 11 speeds and the D-fuse system, which takes some of the pop out of bumps. I even like the seat: it's Comfortable and I haven't replaced it after three months so it might be a keeper. The disc brakes are more responsive but also heavier and the front can be thrown off when you remove the wheel. I'm also not a big fan of the crankset. Should be Ultegra like the rest, an obvious cost saving measure. I'll replace the factory tires, which are ok but set up for gravel and I'm road only. Still, it beats anything else for the price and is a great package.CS
I had a pre-fit done by the local fitter. His first recommendation was the Giant Defy. It took awhile for them to come back in stock but as soon as a Medium was available I grabbed it. Shipped to my shop where they assembled it, comes with full warranty just like I bought it from LBS. As far as the ride…..smoooooth. It is a dream to ride. Comfortable, responsive…I love the Di2. My first experience with electronic shifting and now I understand they hype! I had to make some minor adjustments like the handlebar width (went from42 to 40cm and put a Zipp bar on there. it's better than the stock bar as it provides a channel for the cable, makes the bars even more comfortable.) this was money well spent and I recommend this bike.

I liked that the bike has a steel fork so road vibrations are at a minimal I would not want an aluminum fork. I like Steel or Carbon. The tires are excellent. The disk brakes work well no squeaks. I thought the 8 speed was a little too slow. It was easy and inexpensive to upgrade using a Microshift 9 speed shifter, Microshift 9 speed cassette and 9 speed chain, I was happy the rear derailleur did not need to be changed! My bike has a strange squeak cranking steep uphills, also the plastic chain guard had to be ripped off as it is garbage and somehow got it self all chewed up in the front crank. I had to rip it off or be stranded, got a little greasy but that chain guard is not needed and a flaw in it's design for sure. I think it is a good bike for what I payed, but I would not buy a Specialized again. Customer service at the bike shop was excellent, Specialized Customer Service lacking, I would not expect much from them.Jeff S.
I wanted to love this bike; it seems like specialized had me personally in mind when designing this. An entry-level bike of the highest quality; light and fast but ready to bunny hop a curb or bomb a sand trap on an unimproved sidewalk. The chain falls off- Any hard bump, a root, EVERY time I ride off a curb. You jump off a curb when you need to cross a street but suddenly the pedals don't work. $200 microshift advent 9 w/clutch drivetrain fix. The climbing gears work, but even down a long bridge, I can't break 35mph. $50 front sprocket; $75 trials bars. $200 dropper post. I like the stock tires for strictly city riding, but that's not what the X does, and the tubes aren't particularly light or durable. $100 for pirelli and tubolito. Looking at other brands' gravel offerings in the $1400 range, the sirrusX2.0 no longer makes much sense. Based on my experience with the LBS, I will be ordering a bike in a box next time. 400 mile off road update to my previous review. I mounted a 45c WTB Riddler up front and a 45c Rambler on the rear and now ride primarily hardpack trails and smooth single track chasing Strava scores. I live and ride in a very competitive area of Denver where many pros and high level amateur MTB riders train and race. The trails are smooth, twisty and dry; perfect conditions for a flat bar hybrid like the Sirrus X 4.0 that combines gravel bike efficiency with an MTB attack position for aggressive cornering. I've earned three KOMs on this bike, and am sitting at #2 of 3,100 riders on a fast twisty downhill segment. I've earned several top 5% to 10% scores in twisty single track segments of a heavily ridden race course. Did I mention I'm 54 and weigh 190 pounds? Admittedly, this old Clyde is only running at the 60th percentile on climbs, but the Sirrus X is so light and efficient that it makes me look like a decent climber. This bike rocks with good ergos and adequate bottom bracket height for hard pedaling through corners. The geometry is ideal for twisty single track at 15 to 25 mph, and the Future Shock/carbon fork take just enough of the edge off the bumps without robbing any pedalling efficiency or handling precision. The two negatives to this bike are the wheel set and the gearing. The 24/28 spoked wheels are light. but a bit flimsy for a bike touted as a go anywhere type of ride. They require frequent truing if you ride hard. The gearing is a bit of a tweener that is too low for fast road riding, yet it could use one lower gear for steep climbs offroad. Otherwise, I've had no problems with loosening crank arms or any atypical issues. Sure, the shift assembly came loose and the spokes need frequent attention, but that has been my experience with any bike ridden hard and aggressively. I love this bike an I'm having a very hard time convincing myself that I could be faster or more efficient on MTB trails with an Epic Hardtail or Chisel.Highlands Rancher

All the SPECS you could ask for on ORBEA website: "they call it Blue Paper" I'd include a link but JENSON doesn't allow it but rest assured you'll find it Downloads/ Products 6. Geometry that is UBER comfortable for 2+ hour runs 7. C0-OP! 9. contact points/ threads where all greased very well and will last for some time; better than any previous 5 brands I've purchased. 8. SIZE MATTERS I can't comment on climbing and hills since there's not to many hills in the desert and I just haven't been out to the ones available yet. Acceleration is prompt out of the gate or off the blocks regardless of standing or sitting. Bike is set with a MTB cassette since it's a 11/34. No doubt in time I'll replace with a ROAD cassette and probably a ULTEGRA rear derailleur that I have and is capable of 11/28T. I've replaced the handlebars with Coefficient RR 40cm, SALSA CF seat post and ROVAL C38 wheels wrapped with CONTI Gatorskin 28's and tubes. Overall very pleased with the SL6. Etap are a revelation compared to Di2 and any concerns I had about different operation has disappeared. Build quality is beautiful and the service from Sigma was outstanding and competitive too. The only issues I have are that in my opinion Trek need to fit the longer 200 mm stem to the 56 cm not the 160 mm length stem. I had to purchase a new stem, but Sigma helped me out here nd went above and beyond. The other issue is tyres. In a world where 28c are now the accepted norm for this kind of bike, I question the OEM supply of 25c. I have had a number of punctures as I believe these are too low profile. Will be changing to Conti 5000 28cA123

Waited years to purchase my first road bike (switched from a hybrid to a road), and am unsatisfied and displeased with the Trek Domane AL 2. The braking system is terrible and very unsafe. While descending down hill I compress the brakes as hard as I can to slow down, but the bike takes a very long time to come to a complete stop. Has anyone experienced this before? Is this because I’m not used to riding a road bike? Should I bring it back to the bike shop to get the brakes tightened/loosened? This bike only has a total of three miles on it and I’m ready to sell, exchange or get my money back.Michael Cacciatore

It seems that hybrid bikes seem to fall somewhere on the scale between fitness and comfort. This bike is, definitely, more towards the fitness end of that spectrum. The bike was safely and quickly shipped. Easy to assemble, tools included if you need them, tires only inflated to hold their shape (presta valves). Lift the entire bike out of the box and then begin… There are some good assembly videos on you tube… This is a South East Asia bike, Cambodian frame and Vietnamese tires. Only one ugly weld at the rear wheel die cast. Paint, fit and finish, otherwise, were very good. I prefer a motorcycle brake layout, front brake on right, easy to change. For the most part derailleurs were very close, probably could have lived without tinkering, but hey. All other adjustments and alignments good. The only real disappointments are the pedals, plan on upgrading, and the residue left on the crank arms from the Left and Right stickers (nasty). This is my new commuter bike to take some miles off the MTB, I commute everyday so it will get fenders and a rack soon.The bosses seem well placed and plentiful (will chase the threads when mounting). Rides nice, great commuter and Sunday 'round the park and bike path bike. Over all quite pleased, but, there's this little voice in my head asking if I wouldn't have been just as happy with the Metric One.

Schaut man genauer hin, dann stellt man fest, dass die Zugverlegung nicht fachmnnisch erfolgt ist. Bei der Probefahrt rutschte die Sattelsttze bis zum Anschlag in den Rahmen. Beim erneuten Einstellen berdrehte das Gewinde der Sattelklemme. Ausgerechnet das wichtige untere Teil mit dem Gewinde ist aus Aluminium, welches die notwendige Belastung nicht halten kann. das ist besonders tragisch, weil die Sattelsttze eine spezielle, dem Sitzrohr angepasste Form hat. Diese Sattelklemme ist also ein Spezialteil und nicht einfach im Fahrradhandel zu bekommen. Das bedeutet, dass nur jemand, dem die Sitzhhe bei komplett eingefahrener Sttze passt mit dem Rad fahren kann. Kleiner ginge auch, dann msste die Sttze entsprechend abgesgt werden.
