Excellent bike. Very smooth riding with a comfortable riding position. Quality parts from Shimano make for fast shifts with good gear range. I ride primary for aerobic exercise and find the bike gives me a great workout while providing a smooth, solid ride. I assembled it myself but needed to have a bike shop to fine tune the front disc brake and true the front wheel in order for the front wheel to spin freely. (Although the bike comes with all the necessary assembly tools (hex wrenches and pedal wrench), the included assembly instructions are not very good w respect to the front wheel / disc brake assembly). But as it turns out Vilano explains that you need to have a bike shop check the assembly in order for the warranty to be valid … not something I knew going in, but the bike shop’s assembly review and front wheel / disc brake tuning ($80) gives me added peace of mind. I should add that Vilano customer service is outstanding. Their toll free phone automated attendant menu could do for a few more option selections to make things more intuitive, but once you get through to the staff they is great. They give you the sense that they are genuinely interested in helping you solve whatever problem you’ have. They listen well, seem to be very knowledgeable about the product and follow up as promised. Overall I’m very pleased with the bike … smooth and solid with good quality parts. We ordered this bike for our teenage son. We added the Pro Build, since we don’t have any close bike shops and we knew he would ride it right away. The bike came on time and packaged neatly. Our son put it together in about 15 minutes and took it out for a ride. So nice that it worked perfectly! Totally worth the slight up charge. I researched bikes in order to find a hybrid bike that delivered more road performance than trail, at a reasonable cost. This one fit the bill and I believe is a clear winner in the price range $300. It does take a while to set up, and you should understand bikes or bring it to a shop to handle that for you. I understand bikes and I still became tripped up on the front derailleur, and it took me a couple days of working on it and reviewing video to first see where I messed up in attempting to fine tune it and then figuring out where to set it back to where it originally was set and then fine tuning it from that point again once I realized that's all it needed. The back derailleur and the disc brakes also needed adjustment and I did fine on them though but again, you need to understand bikes and also to comprehend videos on the subject matter. Took the bike for my first ride recently, so this is a maiden voyage review of approximately 7 to 8 miles on steep hills. It performs admirably on hills, where the 24 gears are a must! The bike is a performer for the price! Tires felt strong, frame is solid, disc brakes are great. The seat may need to be changed out for comfort, however, they are cheap enough and for the price of the bike, should not be considered a deterrent. It is better to NOT have a front shock for more road use, as that absorbs energy going up steep hills and that's what I needed this for. Had the bike pushing 40 m.p.h. or over and was very stable. Be sure to check the wheel hub and brakes prior to doing that though. Five stars for the quality on price point and the outlet shipped it fast and delivery time is reasonable. Remember, assembly IS required. The bike is solid but will need some adjustment once assembled though, so your call on how you do it, yourself or professionally, as it can be quite frustrating. If you were worried about quality, don't, it will get the job done for leisure to intermediate riding endeavors I believe based on my first take. Sram shifters work smoothly, mostly quiet. Had some difficulty initially connecting the batteries via bluetooth to the app. Managed to connect the speed sensor to my Garmin without a hitch, but the power meter wouldn't connect. I selected a cadence option that connected, but it didn't register on my ride. Not sure if that is an available feature. Surprised at the low end Fizik seat that came with the bike, with alloy rails. Had to replace that. Also the Garmin mount is either defective, or poorly designed. Once you twist it in place, it doesn't come off.John R.
Having had trouble ordering from LBS turned to Sigma and had this SuperSix Evo delivered in time for Christmas with no problems, very slick service. Bike arrived fully built and ready to go. Have been out in the cold and wet with a smile on my face, what a bike. Handling is very stable, comfortable and quick. The bike flatters me, having gone from a fairly rigid aluminium bike to this is a joy. Build quality is excellent, having heard a lot of good things about Cannondale, I can now see why. At some stage I will upgrade to a lighter wheel set but for the winter these are fine.matlowden
Excellent service from Sigma. Arrived on the date stated at purchase. Included free set of Allen keys and torque keys which work very well (4,5 and 6Nm). Gears needed a little tuning but nothing significant. Bike itself is very comfy but also light and climbs well. Has a surprisingly tall headtube and lots of spacers included. Means you’ll probably have to cut down the steerer to get the fit you need – not a difficult job with the right blade and a guide (I got the Park Tools blade and cutting guide – both great quality but pricey). Stock tyres do the job but are nothing special. Very easy upgrade, as is the cassette if you want to change out the 105 for a full ultegra setup. Really like the handlebar and stem – you are tied to cannnondale handlebars if you use the system integration stem that comes with the bike, and vice versa, but there is a lot to like about both. Stem is very stiff and robust, no flex even when sprinting that I noticed and the handlebar has a nice wide top which I found comfy on longer rides. Drop is not huge and the curve of the drops are quite traditional, both of which I found suited my riding style well. I really like the included bar tape; it’s not too thick and has a crosshatched grip which works very well in all weathers. Only downside is a very creaky seat post at the recommended torque. When pushing hard uphill it is particularly noticeable. Doesn’t affect the quality of the ride but is irritating.Alistair

Had been looking for a good bike to commute to work with for some time now so after doing some research and reading reviews – I finally decided to purchase this bike. It came with the box completely destroyed and many pieces missing so I had to buy the parts that were supposed to be included. I had emailed them and they did give me a response back the next business day, however, when I went to reply to tell them what parts- I wasn’t able to. I kept getting error messages saying that the address was incorrect and the email was undeliverable. Whatever, it wasn’t a huge deal since I was able to buy them from the shop. Now, when commuting to work yesterday, a part of the bike completely snapped and broke off. I brought it back to the bike store and they basically told me tough luck and it’s totaled out. Waited years to purchase my first road bike (switched from a hybrid to a road), and am unsatisfied and displeased with the Trek Domane AL 2. The braking system is terrible and very unsafe. While descending down hill I compress the brakes as hard as I can to slow down, but the bike takes a very long time to come to a complete stop. Has anyone experienced this before? Is this because I’m not used to riding a road bike? Should I bring it back to the bike shop to get the brakes tightened/loosened? This is one of six bikes that I own. I bought it as a bike to bring with us when we travel because I didn't want to put my "nice" bike on the trunk rack. At this price point, I can leave it on the rack, stop at a rest stop, and not worry while I'm inside that it's going to be stolen. I've been pleased with how well it has held up. I changed out the 8 speed cassette that it came with for something with a tighter gear range so that I could ride it fast with a group. The original cassette had big leaps between gears, which made it harder to fine tune. It's a fine cassette though for when I used it to tow my children around in a bike chariot. And it's a good choice for people newer to biking so that they can get themselves up steep hills. Just not right for me. I've ridden it on gravel roads but mostly on tarmac. It's heavy (but that's to be expected) but rides well. All in all, a good bike for anyone but especially for someone looking to see if they're excited to get riding more.Matt the Biker
Great road bike! Very light weight bike frame you could pick up with one hand easy. Love the color metallic black. I am moving from my Trek MTB to Giant road bike Contend AR3. This transition was like leaving a bomber plane to an agile quick fighter plane. The Giant Contend AR 3 has a comfortable seat, light weight and fast! I would definitely recommend this bike I look forward to my rides now everyday after work! I bought this bike after owning an Escape Disc 1. I've put almost 1,000 miles on it. I use it for commuting and exercise. The shifting cables will stretch with breaking the bike in, but with a turn or two of the barrel adjuster, it shifts perfectly. The gearing makes it easy to climb hills and gain speed on flat runs. If you're looking for a good bike to ride on trials (gravel or pavement) or ride on the streets, this is perfect for the price. As a 60-year-old, the geometry on my Cannondale EVO has been exacerbating my lower back issues for a couple of years now. The Synapse, with it's more relaxed geometry is just what I needed. I have been on a couple of longish rides with it and have had no significant back pain! Not only that, but I'm not slower. It's a really capable road bike and I suspect would do great on unpaved roads as well. Also, I didn't know if I was gonna love the built in SmartSense lights/radar, but I do! Absolutely great if you're trying to get the most out of your post-work ride as the sun goes down. As far as Mike's Bikes … they could not have made the experience easier. I called a couple of times, once pre-purchase to determine if this was the right bike for me and once because it appeared UPS had misplaced the bike. Andrew from Mike's Bikes assured me that they would stand behind my purchase and get another bike right out to me if this one was lost. Turns out it showed up a day late with no tracking. Anyway, bottom line. Fantastic bike so far and Mike's was awesome, from pre-purchase advise to post-sale service.Paul F.
The bike required minor assembly. This involved fitting and adjusting the seat post ( the seat was already attached) using the carbon assembly paste. Fitting the handlebars to the steering stem and then fitting the front wheel then centring and adjusting the bars. The rear derailleur gears all worked fine though the front derailleur needed adjustment which made the change much smoother. First test ride was around 16 miles and I was impressed by the obvious eagerness of the bike to move along at a rapid (for me) pace. Some ticking/ clicking from the front end sounded as though it was the front wheel hub. Greatly improved by precise tightening of the through axle to the recommended setting. Second test ride 22 miles still ticking . Adjusted the steering stem which was very slightly too loose. Still puzzled by a ticking from the front hub when the front wheel is revolved backwards. The bearings are cassette type and not adjustable and they run perfectly smoothly. I will speak to Westbrook for advice. Otherwise the bike is great and I am impressed by the build quality and finish. I think Cannondale should indicate a torque setting for the seat post on the bike frame (not buried in the handbook) as is done with the steering stem, through axles and handlebar clamps but I am being pedantic. Overall a very pleasing buy and a delighted customer. I hope I can sort the ticking from the front wheel.John C
Returned to cycling after 30 years or so, compared to a Carrera Crossfire E hybrid ebike I tried recently, it is light as a feather, much more agile and less harsh over bumps, alot faster on the straights and downhill but harder going up very steep hills. The Hydraulic brakes though on the ebike alot better though as the Cannondale needs a fistful of brake to stop.

Ok I took a risk in this bike in spite of some negative reviews often about a bent fork. Fortunately for me, everything was in order save for some missing screws. Fortunately, I found them inside the box. The bike was mostly assembled and all you have to do is attach the front wheel, handlebars, seat and pedals. And though there was a manual included, it was pretty much a general manual. Still assembly is a breeze or intuitive to say the least. I haven't owned a bike for over ten years and I was able to put this thing together without much reference to the manual. There was no need for me to bring this to my local Walmart or my LBS. Upon assembly, I took it out for a trial spin and came back to make some fine tuning on the brakes. Truth be told, this is the first time I have encountered disc brakes. All my life I am used to caliper type of brakes. And still assembly and fine tuning is fairly simple. And after adjusting the brakes, the bike is now fully working. Right now I am more concerned in handling the bike and building up my resistance. Now I have more biking to do!mmsumulong
Rode this for 2 months now and put on about 150 miles. If you plan on riding 10mi or less, it does a good job. Any longer than that, then it needs upgrades. I changed out the bar tape, saddle, and added toe cages since all 3 stock makes me go numb for anything more than 10mi. Longest trip i went on is 50mi and bike held up. Tires still look brand new. It gives a very pleasant ride as it absorbs quite a lot of road imperfections. Once i do hit a rock or good size bump though, it reacts very poorly and is a bit erratic to recover. Dont go by me 100%, but i unmounted the tires and it looks like the rims are double walled. The pedaling is smooth, and the whole bike looks great. The aerodynamic wheels work really well too and i have noticed that i roll downhill faster and further than more expensive bikes. Biking in angled crosswind doesnt push me over as much as when im on my mtb. The drivetrain is a bit noisy. Chain drives, but there are dead zones along the power stroke. I thought it was my poor pedaling technique, so i tried a shorter crank, but the same thing happens! Worst thing is there is no bottle holder, or even an option to install one as there are no screws or even taps. My hands were unbearable for my half century, so im planning to upgrade the handlebars. I plan on doing a century one day and have no doubt the bike wont throw any issues, except i'll be needing a better chain and handlebar…..maybe pedals too sinfe the stock ones bearly have any support. Brakes are ok as they stop authoritatively. The discs are low-end, so expect uncorrectable rubbing, and an obvious squeak on engagement. Overall, the stock form should be ok for people who commute 10mi or less, or dont mind going numb for any distance over that. In my case, i want more than what the bike is worth, so i need upgrades.Nguyen5505
For the price, this is a decent bike. I bought it in directly in the store and since I couldn't ride it long enough, I didn't realize the issues. Who ever put the bike together didn't know what they were doing. It had some minor issues with the chain and the shift. I brought it to a bike shop to see what could be done and if it was worth the repair/fixing. The bike shop realigned my stuff and took apart and put back together some of the pieces….once he did this, the bike rode super well! no more clicking noises and he fixed the shift. his words were " the person who put the bike together didn't know how to put a bike together". It cost me $20 for the repairs. knowing the cost of decent gravel bikes compared to this one, an extra $20 wasn't a big deal. Overall i'm happy but this by no means is top quality but a good value for the priceGia

Price was really good. The bike had a few issues mainly due to someone assembling that didnt know what they were doing. Some minor scratches too but those look like they were from how it was returned. The rear derailleur hanger was bent and needed replaced. Got one for $10 and it was as good as new. Someone tried to put the peddles on backwards and damaged the starting threads a bit. Also had to do a lot of spoke adjustments to true the wheels. The bike arrived on time like it said it would. The packaging was good. No damages and all the places that needed be protected are all cover with cardboard and foam pieces. Assembling the bike was a breeze no real headache there, whew! Thank god for that because the assembling instructions that came with the bike wasn’t really much help either way. Everything else about the bike was great I like the way it feels. The quality isn’t the best but it’s also not the worst…it’s definitely you get what you paid for. If you’re planning on doing any long-distanced riding with this bike I’d the first thing you want to do is change the tires. I wish I didn’t have to return the bike but I guess I’m going to. The bike height is taller than I expected. I went off of the sizing chart that the original website recommended to me. I bought a medium and I’m 5’7”. I’m going to try and get the smaller size and hopefully the fitment will be more comfortable.Brandon

This is a pretty good bike for the most part. It is really for a casual bike rider not so much a long distance rider. It's a bit heavy for long distance but seems to be pretty good quality with the exception of the tires. I think we'll probably replace them with some good quality ones since my husband does ride quite a bit. A great product and just what I wanted for this stage of my cycling. The electric assist can be regulated whilst riding which means on the flat or small hills can be turned off, and only re-engaged when needed. Handy for my cycling club since In retirement we often ride all day. The bike can be pedalled quite easily without assist which is good to know if the worst happens!Tony888
After using the bike for a month I can advise the pros and cons. I mostly have left it on green the lightest setting but use the blue middle setting as a boost now and again on steeper/longer hills. The battery gives you additional support on hills and pulling away. Battery life is good with 60 miles achieved in good weather conditions. Normally have just under 60% battery left after 28 miles cycled on an undulating route (1000 – 1400 feet). Hasn’t made me much faster though probably due to the higher weight of the bike. I still get overtaken by the serious riders! Would recommend getting the battery cover (£70) so you have the option of using the bike without the battery. Battery is unlocked and removed from the bike and easy to charge. This to me is more flexible but others may not want the hassle of removing the battery to charge it. Ultegra group set and hydraulic brakes all work very smoothly and efficiently. The bike suspension works well and with the bigger tyres helps smooth out the lumps and bumps of the road surfaces. Overall a good choice for an e-bike. It looks good too.Ian23

Great bike. Well built 5 stars for Marin. Overall the experience with Jenson was good. Great price, built well, and well packaged bike. Knocked off one star because the bike had a chip in the brake side chain stay. The package had no damage and there was nothing in the box I could see that could have caused this. Going to keep the bike because it was purely cosmetic but deflated the new bike day joy a tad! Saw a bunch of concerns about the brakes, but so far I think they are completely acceptable for a bike in this price point.Jonathan

I fancied a single speed gravel bike, having been a 'fixie' rider for the last 20 years, but didn't want to pay an extortionate price to own one. Research led me to just about the only candidate, the 'Flyer' and I'm not disappointed. Of course, not being able to try or see one before purchase was a dilemma and there were few on line reviews. Having taken the plunge I'm extremely pleased. Bike geometry is far less aggressive than a previously owned cyclo x bike, it's just spot on, allowing for a comfortable ride, good handling and a position in the drops that is so sustainable. Disc brakes are a bonus and work well, gearing just right. There's nothing I can fault with this machine for the job its designed to do. Shame its only available in grey which, does look better in the flesh than on line pictures. For the money, its a 'no brainer'.Harvey W.

My initial reaction to the Volare’s weight was ‘wow’, since at 29.1lbs this bike must have professional team mechanics worrying how to bring it up to the UCI’s minimum weight limit. Short rises and long steep climbs virtually cease to exist as the Volare 1300 refuses to recognise elevation changes. It’s a bike that quicksteps up climbs, and any time you want to change pace, it’s begging to be unleashed. Even pointing the Volare 1300 at the most uneven, rutted stretches of tarmac has little effect on ride quality. Vibration and big bump absorption is impressive. Necessary line changes and flicks around obstacles are virtually telepathic, needing little more than a weight shift. Descending is confident, the positive front end feel, ideal position and effective braking combining to keep things calm and composed. The Shimano A050 shifters and 14-speed drivetrain soon becomes second nature too. Even if you think you’ll need lower gearing, the Voltare’s seemingly inbuilt speed multiplies your efforts and saves energy — I tend to extend al my rides simply because I feel my intended routes are not enough. Whether digging deep on a climb or sprinting for a village sign, I didn’t once feel the bike was lacking in performance, but did wish I could unlock more of the Voltare 1300’s potential. I raced this bike in over 14 Cat-1 races this season, 3 of them stage races covering mountainous distances of over 1000kms and not once did the bike feel out of place. Pull the brake levers and there's none of that momentary anxiety about when they're going to bite, and that means you can leave your braking that little bit later going into a tight bend. I've also been doing some commuting into the office on this bike and it is great in traffic too. It performs almost as well in the wet as it does in the dry, and that gives you plenty of reassurance when nipping about on urban roads in rush hour.
Overall, I was pleased with this bicycle. I very much liked the click gear shifters and the road tires. After hitting a pothole on one of our local, poor-quality Illinois service roads and seeing my first flat, I was surprised. After removing the tire and tube, I noticed a metal shaving from the air valve hole still resting within the wheel! I would not have expected that kind of sloppiness from a Schwinn, even if they are all made in China now. That aside, the bike is a real pleasure, and my travel times have definitely improved against my cheap Wal-Mart Roadmaster! If you don't mind some tinkering with the brakes and a little assembly on arrival, it's hard to beat the overall quality.misterb-13
This is a very good bike for the price. Target card gives you a 5%discount, which is a plus. For a 1st road bike, i would recommend this bike. Only 2 reasons why I do not give it 5 stars is because of the following reason: 1) I cannot give it 4.5 2) some issues with the gears and breaks which need to be tweaked. I would recommend taking it to the bike shop if you can for assembly. I work on cars, and this didn't scare me so I worked it out myself. With the price in mind, you will be hard pressed to get an equivalent bike for the price. If you have $400-500 to spend or want to spend at least that much, then go for something else like a Trek or Specialized.TKam DE

im in search or hunt i should say of a good road bike for beginners,ive set myself some short term goals for this year start with few miles and eventually build strenght to pedal harder but didnt want to spend a fortune so this just might be the rite one,open for all suggestions from the experienced fellas that will guide me in the rite direction havent road a bike since i was a kid im 52 so imagine ,thank you.

Bought this bike under some recommendations of online cycle reviewers, so far I'm really pleased. The bike came in great shape, only had to put together a few key items (handle bars, front wheel, and seat). I was ready to go in about 1hr. I've taken it on a few 30 minute rides, the seat is definitely firm but more forgiving than other road bikes. I think the shifters on the brakes and the overall feel of the bike are very high end compared to the cost. I like the styling and look forward to riding it to work on a regular basis. If there is one thing to complain about it's that the shimano claris derailleurs have recommended combinations front-to-back, so they suggest not using the lowest front gear with the top two highest rear gears and vice versa. The front derailleur offers a "half shift" if your chain rubs, which really comes in handy when you want to break the shimano rules! Next steps: trying the bike with a baby carrier on it! Note: it came with a lot of warning/warranty/branding stickers. They all came off (some easier than others) with some good fingernail picking. No glue residue left behind – really happy about that.CarlFS
