We originally got the road bike (look) pedals but they are infuriating to use when you have any stop/go (e.g. riding through town). I decided to go back to SPD and wanted a pedal that flips over with some grip for riding through congested areas that is compatible with my gravel and spin bikes (hence the SPD). These are less than a pound and fit my road bike needs! I was able to add a SPD adapter to my road shoes but probably will use my MTB shoes the most – we usually stop for a beer when possible – this makes it so l I can actually walk around. Love the pedals – exactly what I wanted/needed.Joyce
So far so good. At least 10 rides shared among me and my wife; she uses flat side, I clip in; using them for our Peloton bike. I've tightened the release from the box, but still may need a touch more. Haven't come completely out but do notice when standing there's a little float. Contact points good though. Flat side working well without the additional steel nubs sent with the pedals, but again, using them indoors would change this grip if on trails.Christopher
I picked up these pedals as I wanted to be able to clip in when out for rides, but also wanted to be able to wear regular shoes when out with my kids. The pedals are certainly heavier when compared to my spd-sl pedals. My only gripe about the pedals is that when using the spd side, even with the tension tightened all the way, they don’t lock in overly tight. I used them on a 150km ride this last weekend and I didn’t feel as secured as when I used my older plain spd pedals. For mixed use though, I think these pedals are worth it especially if you’re looking for a pedal where you can ride with normal shoes when out for a leisurely ride or going to the pub, etc.David
2. Shimano Pd-M324 Pedal Set, 9/16", Black/silver

Reviews:
Useful for a bike that is sometimes just ridden to the shops/pub but also on longer rides, when you might want to wear cleated shoes. Bearings wear very fast and can be sloppy within six months on a bike used for commuting. A special tool (TL-PD33) costing as much as the pedals is needed to service them, since they are designed so that the bearing cone is unreachable with a normal spanner. They are not as well sealed as other SPDs, and use a simple rubber ring around the axle which soon perishes; replacements are 2 each but you can put a stack of O-rings on there instead, which will last longer. If you're happy to throw them away every year and buy a new set OR buy the expensive tool, these are ok. They are nowhere near as good value, or as well made, as the normal SPD pedals like M520, which are cheaper, easily serviceable and better sealed. But if you want to wear flat shoes sometimes, these might be your best option.rogerzilla
These pedals allow you to either use plain shoes or shoes with spd cleats. The metal used in their construction is robust and a pair on my touring bike have done about 10,000km with the only issue being that the bearing now need a service which requires a special Shimano tool to tighten the lock nut for race/shaft. Cleats and a multi-language instructions were included with the pedals. There is a provision on the pedal for click in reflectors which are not included in the package. You will have to find you own source for reflectors. I used 4 from unused basic pedals. Remember to use some grease on the pedal thread when attaching them to the cranks so that the parts do not corrode together.Iain M.
These pedals went on a hardtail that I tend to grab for more casual cruise-around-the-neighborhood use. So I can go for a quick spin without needing my normal SPD shoes. That makes these pedals a winner for convenience. I also want to use this same bike on more "serious" trails so having the SPD clips makes them fully functional for longer rides. The pedals normally rest with the SPD side facing up so clipping in usually works on the first try without toe-flipping the pedal. I ride normal 2-sided SPD pedals on all my other bikes and those are far easier to clip in to as you never have to care about what side it up. The bearings run smooth and SPD lock/release are as consistent as with all my other Shimano pedals. Despite the minor inconvenience of needing the occasionally reorient the pedal to get the correct side up I really enjoy the convenience of not having to swap pedals. 2-in-1 devices are always a compromise but this one's are worth it.Jeff

I had wanted a second pair of clips for my spin bike and had spent a great deal of time looking for a matching set to my road bike to ensure compatibility with my shoes. I finally just got smart and went into Erik's SLP and they set me up in just a few minutes. These people know their business and made sure I had exactly what I needed. It is so nice to be able to pedal with the same form I use on my road bike, and my indoor workouts have jumped up in intensity. Thanks, Eriks! #sweepstakesCaroline
These pedals are a great value. They are light, made very well and position for clip-in very well. I am a regular road rider but I do not race. The price is right. I ordered them after having a bit of trouble clipping into a new set of Look Keo 2 Max pedals. I've been riding clip in's since the 90s, mainly Look. However the new Key 2s had a small "lip" at the front edge that always seemed to snag my shoes/cleats. I looked carefully at the Shimano PD-R-7000s and the lip seemed smaller. It was and now the problems getting in from a standing start are nearly eliminated. The one thing that is a bit of a problem is the axle length. I wish the offset between the pedal and edge of the crank was a bit longer. I am getting used to the closeness but it is just an adjustment problem on my part. A slightly longer axle can be ordered but it increases the price. I highly recommend these pedals for training and touring on the road, including with climbs.reggmc2012
These will be going on my new bike, when it finally arrives. When I bought them, Sigma were offering the best price for them. The pedals are quite solid, but not actually heavy, thanks to the pedal platform being carbon. The tension adjuster is clearly readily accessible and the indicator is clear to see. The tension can be dialled back to allow clipping in and out with little effort or tightened up for a more secure seating. The set come complete with a set of yellow Shimano cleats (6 degrees of float) and all of the bolts and washers. I can well appreciate why these pedals get such a good rating from othersAndyH56

Excellent quality materials. The sizing chart is an absolute must and it works very well if you follow instructions. Having been disappointed after buying other wide fitting shoes – which claimed to be heat moulding – Cinderella, or in this case Cinders (pronoun – he/him) was pleasantly suprised that the shoe did in fact fit! Notwithstanding jealousy from the ugly sisters – other club cyclists looking on in admiration – I now wear these dazzling black beauties without constricted numb feet, and constant irritation. Especially after burning half the amazon rainforest attempting to heat mould my last pair of daps. The only negative would be that the toes box is pretty large. I don't know if this really effects performance; it does allow you to wiggle your little piggies freely though. A novelty that cannot be recognised in the sardine-packed Bonts (Wide).Cinders
I first came across Lake shoes a couple of years ago at Bespoked Bicycle Show in Bristol. I tried a pair on and was amazed how well they fitted then I laughed politely at the salesman when I found out how much they cost and walked off. Two years later and my Specialized shoes were causing a lot of discomfort on longer rides, it was like having my foot clamped in a vice, and the pain was starting to last for several days after the ride. Time to think again. I found Salt Dog Cycling on the internet, I talked to Richard and he seemed to know what he was talking about, he even suggested a better way to measure my feet. I thought about it some more. I talked to Richard again. After all when you have wide feet buying shoes on the internet from someone you have never heard of is a recipe for disaster, no one in their right mind would do that. Especially shoes that cost twice as much as any shoes I have ever bought before and only get worn once or twice a week. So I bought two pairs of shoes on the internet from a company that I had never heard of before. £500 spent on shoes and then my wife saw the credit card bill. I bought two pairs because my foot size was right on the cusp of two sizes and because I was not convinced that Richard was right about the sizing, but at least he assured me that I could send the wrong ones back. It turns out that Richard was right, he does know what he is talking about, and I should have listened, but why break the habit of a lifetime. And he refunded me for the other shoes straight away. And the shoes? They fit superbly. For the first time in a long time there is no foot pain. Regrets? Yes, I should have bought them years ago. I still cannot quite believe just how much I have paid for a pair of shoes though; but they are good; very good.Jim U.
Just got a pair of the black CX238 road shoes, size 43.5. That new leather smell as you open the box. This is now my fourth pair of 238 range shoes, between road and mountain shoes. Yes, I have a problem. But the Lake 238 shoes fit my feet perfectly, no hot spots, no pinching or crushing of the toes, they are just the perfect shoes for my foot shape. Run maybe just a bit small compared to other shoes, most other shoes I've had have been size 43. Or perhaps the Lakes are just true to size and the others were a bit off. Started with a burgundy pair, then just had to get the white, and now this black pair, to go along with my beetle/black mountain shoes. And may just have to get a pair of the new fluo yellow/red road shoes.Robert W
5. Shimano Pd-Rs500 Spd-Sl Pedals

Reviews:
Took a few extra days to arrive, but still good value compared with UK sites. Needn't have worried about customs duties. These are my first SPD SL pedals so will be interesting to see how they compare with SPD. Hoping for a better power transfer platform, to compensate for quicker wear.Pauric
These pedals are fine. I have been using them for 3 weeks, riding 1-hour per day. Clipping in and out is generally very easy, and the ride is quiet and smooth. One note is that they seem to balance with the clip side down, so getting clipped back in while moving takes some fiddling and concentration. As consumers, we must unite to kill off using the term "clipless pedals" for this type of pedal. These pedals are the kind we most definitively clip INTO. That is the whole point of the technology. The only other kinds of pedals are flat (no clips) and the toe-cage type, which also have no real clip. At most, a cinch strap. Those are basically toe-holster pedals.Anything but caraway
First time ordering from Tredz. Price was a little cheaper for the Shimano SPD-SL pedals with cleats. Factor in the shipping and it was about the same as the others. However when I got to checkout £9.99 was added on to ship to N. Ireland. Really? £9.99 for delivery to N. Ireland when the package was 30cm x 30cm at best. The delivery time wasn’t up dated until after payment completion after I’d reluctantly decided to go ahead as other suppliers were out of stock. I’d expected a 48hr service at worst but the pedals actually didn’t arrive until nearly a week later. If you’re going to charge stupid prices for delivery at least have the decency to pick a good courier. They were “left at the back door” but when I went looking for them they were actually left at the neighbours back door. The product itself is as expected with Shimano, good quality at an entry level. No issues whatsoever and indeed I love the pedals compared to the MTB pedals I’d been using during the winter months. Would I buy from Tredz again? No. Absolutely notCiaran B.

It’s held up real good. As with the best gear, it simply fades away and is out of your thoughts, simply doing its job as you get out there to ride, ride after ride. I now have well over 1500 miles on this and it has not given any trouble whatsoever. I did upgrade from the one just below this in shimano’s product line and while there may be a difference in weight, it’s not perceivable once you’re ridingKrish
I was new to clipless pedals when I got back into cycling last year. I got these ones primarily because they were relatively inexpensive. Overall, they are great for road cycling (I averaged ~80 miles a weeks over the season with 2-4 rides) and found that these pedals were super easy. The adjustable tension works great and makes for easy in and out. Since I wasn't racing the tighter tension settings were not necessary for my use. Held my feet in place well as I don't think I slipped out once all year. Weight didn't really matter to me since I was just cycling to get in shape and pass the time.Tall One
Easy to clip in and out. Nearly maintenance free. Very durable too. Depending on which cleats you use, you can get as much or as little float as you like. I prefer the yellow cleats that come with the pedals as I get 6 degrees of motion and my knees don't hurt after a long ride. The only drawback I have is that they are only one-sided pedals.Brian D

Reviews:
I have been on these for a month now, and using Speedplay pedals since 2000–the Zero's since 2010. These are an improvement over the previous set of Zero's in a number of ways: I feel the bearings are smoother, they now install with an 8mm hex key (as most pedals do these days), they do not squeak with each pedal stroke (which my previous three sets did with the Speedplay "walkable" cleats). These require far less maintenance with the upgraded bearings. Previous sets required that I buy the speedplay grease gun to regularly grease the pedals, and every other year I had to replace the outboard set of bearings. I'm very happy with the updated Wahoo Speedplay Zero pedals.rhp
After over 25 years of riding Speedplay X1’s it was time for an upgrade. The new Wahoo is well engineered and keeps the best features of Brine’s innovative floating pedal design. They were easy to install and the cleats were the same installation as the previous design. First ride- I find them stiff to engage and unclip, remember I am replacing 25 y/o cleats here. I found the float somewhat less than the free float of the X1 but am becoming accustomed to the float now after a few minor adjustments. So far I am impressed by these pedals and I love the tiny ‘speedplay’ logo of old on the plastic clip that covers the float adjustment.kesser
These are awesome pedals, I have 2 other sets of speedplay pedals, These are for a new bike I have. Wahoo has made some very nice upgrades to the speedplay zero pedals, The sealed bearings are like butter, maintenance free now too. The new cleat design is even more aero than before. The old speedplay pedals are awesome, but these are even better, if that's possible I have over 45,000 miles on the old speedplays, still going strong. The new upgraded wahoo speedplays should be even better.Tim O
9. Look Keo Classic 3 Black Pedals

Product Details:
Comfort and stability discover the fun and the benefits of riding with the keo classic 3 clipless pedal. simple to use, it is impossible to adjustment the cleat entry/release tension too low for an easy clip out. its large and wide contact surface provides excellent pedalling stability. technologies chromoly spindle for more reliability the keo classic 3 spindle is made up of an oversized steel axle with miniature ball bearings (12 mm inside x 18 mm outside) and a needle bearing cartridge for improved wear resistance. a spacer is used to hold the needle bearing cartridge in place. a new method of fitting the spindle into the pedal body also ensures the prolonged reliability of our pedals. look spindles are only approved after a rotational test of 2 million cycles at 100tr/min with a load of 90kg on the centre of the pedal and an eccentric rotation (creating a shock on each rotation). look axles are only approved after a rotational test of 2 million cycles at 100 rpm with a load of 90 kg on the centre of the pedal and an eccentric rotation (which creates stress on each revolution). this is equivalent to a sprint by andré greipel of 1700 watts at 100 rpm for 333 hours! this test is much more demanding than the current standard, the iso 4210.
Reviews:
I'm fairly new to road cycling and have been using these pedals for about a month and really like them. Takes some practice when it comes to getting used to clipping in and clipping out, but they are easy to adjust the binding based on how much effort you prefer to unclip. They're been quite durable so far and I anticipate they will last me a long time! Would recommend, high quality product at an affordable price.Callum W.
I bought these for a second bike I own, and after about 12 rides, have found they deliver wildly inconsistent release action, even with the tension screw set to the max (8 full turns clockwise). They seem to require a different degree of 'twist' every time I dis-engage. At first I thought it might be my due to slightly worn cleats, as I used my existing KEO cleats from my other bike, but even installing the cleats that came with the Look Keo Classic 3s, I found either it took too much effort to get out, or not enough and accidental releases were frequent. I also have the Look Keo 2 Max pedals which I have used for years on my primary bike. The Look Keo 2 are roughly the same pedal, only they have a stainless contact plate and a slightly different contour. The metal plate seems to make a huge difference over the waffled plastic contact point offered on the Look Keo Classic 3,Tthe metal seems to give a consistent un-waivering touchpoint for the cleat, where the Classic 3's waffled hard plastic seems to be a bit of a 'grit trap' causing a slightly less confident memorized experience, leading one to wonder "what's it going to do this time'.Juan
Used Look since they arrived on the scene. Always issues with bearings and cleat bolts being easy to damage. Such a nice surprise to open the box and see new cleat bolts with a sturdier hex fixing. Larger footplate always helps and the bearing I am yet to comment on but hoping they have revamped these to avoid play. Overall a great set of pedals for the price point.The1PK

Wonderful! Great bearing, definitely a bit more different clip in motion that atac but I love them.rencervante_5
I do not want them They are not as they are described! The shoe cleats are not compatible with SPD cleats. The cleats probably work with the MKS pedals but do not work with SPD pedals requiring another pair of shoes to use them. I do not have a working printer so I cannot print the return label. So I am stuck with a worthless (to me) pair of pedals. Avoid this sell at all cost unless you like throwing money away!noviceinnewclothes

My wife and I like to cycle and travel in Europe, and try and carry on exclusively. We rent bikes for trips up to two weeks to tour around. I have bad knees, and being clipped in really helps my knees to be able to pull up on pedals to take the pressure off. These pedals are much lighter than a standard pedal, which is magic for carry on weigjt, and allows you to use a small tool Allen key in our mini tool instead of having to bring a pedal wrench to switch, which also saves weight. Most bike shops are great at taking pedals on and off if you arrange in advance, but some want your pedals off before returning bikes, which is fine if you have time, but not if you have a time constrant.. like a train and plane hom. Pros: Like, clips in well, adjustable tention and comes witih extra SPD cleats for value. Cons; The back side of the pedal is really not useful for riding unclipped for any distance. Deduction in star rating due to price.safetycliffy
Good, light and minimal. Like road pedals in a 2 hole spd option. Easy to mount and easy to adjust tension. Sheds mud and dirt well. Mounted on my gravel bike and has logged some 12000 km maybe so far. Takes a bit of getting used to as the pedal often seems to want to flip upside down when getting going (hence the advantage of the classic double sided mountain bike ones – which would also be preferred for rougher single track etc, though these aren't too bad). Little bit of rusting around where the cleat snaps in but not concerning. Backside of pedal is scraped off from getting rolling before clipping in. Both cosmetic so not a big deal but may be for some. Worth the price? Maybe for the more minimal look to run 2 hole on a road bike but gravel riders might get better functionality from the classic double aided ones. Overall light and compact.Affl
13. Shimano Pd Rs500 Spd-Sl Pedals

Product Details:
The shimano pd-rs500 road cycling pedal provides an ideal platform for novice riders. tuned with reduced spring tension, the pd-rs500 maintains a secure connection with the cleat but allows for easier engagement and release than pedals aimed for more experienced riders. the larger platform on the body of the pd-rs500 also provides more visual real estate to spot when learning the fine motor-skills needed to use clipless pedals. the extra-wide platform increases power transfer when pedaling and can reduce hot-spots under foot that can result when using narrow cycling pedals. although shimano considers the pd-rs500 for novice riders, the easy-in, easy-out design makes it useful for any riders needing a more user-friendly pedaling experience.shimano controls wear and tear to the pd-rs500 by incorporating steel plates at the sides of the pedal-shoe interface.

The nubs on the pedals are really nice and grippy, and the package includes a few extra which is nice. Installation is not like a lot of other inexpensive pedals, instead of having flats on the outside there is a hex/allen on the inside that's used to tighten the pedals in place. sealed bearings are a huge plus since the last set of pedals I bought had open bearings; those started to feel gritty after one season.besmit528

These shoes are amazing. I have always been a fan of Adidas and a compete effectively cyclist. When these shoes were first announced they were hard to find and always sold out in my size. When I started to think I was not going to find them they appeared in an Academy ad. I immediately ordered and had them in hand within 5 days. The added bonus is that they were $10 less than other retailers. These shoes won’t disappoint.I Collins

These are hands down the best flat pedals I've ever run! The grip is incredible, but the platform is really what sets this pedal apart from other competitors. The minimal stack height is magical on the trail and allows me to charge harder without risking pedal strikes (as compared to other options). These pedals have also been incredibly durable! Bought my first pair 2 years ago, and they're still running strong! I'll never run anything else. Oneup is definitely onto something with these!Jacob
I was stoked to buy my first pair of orange One Up aluminum pedals for my orange Santa Cruz Hightower. The pedals looked great and I loved the bigger size and the grip. The pedals worked flawlessly for the first three weeks. I was on a ride the other day and the right pedal started squeaking very loudly and seized up completely! It was very annoying. I took the pedal off when I got home, which was also very difficult, and found out that I couldn’t even rotate the axle by hand. After seeing other similar reviews, I immediately went to my local bike shop and bought some top notch RaceFace Atlas aluminum pedals. I could feel the quality difference during my first ride on the Atlas pedals. I’m going to try and take the One Up pedals apart and see if I can grease them and possibly salvage them. If I can’t, they go into the garbage! I wouldn’t buy One Up pedals again. Don’t buy style over substance! Lesson learned.Randal J
These are also not compatible with Shimano alloy crank arms. Stripped the crank arm on bike bike left me stranded and having to push bike 5 miles 1000ft downhill. I had to in the past to reach out to one up customer support and they did their job but in such a manner like they done a huge favor to me so I’m not even going to reach out about these pedals because I don’t want to be treated like a nuisance. In the future I’ll be trying to stay away but I have so many of their products: chain guide, carbon bar, pedals, edc tool. Some of it I bought before the negative customer support interaction and some came stock on the bike. I’m any case if there’s a choice I’d steer clear from this brand. For example PNW makes great cockpit components and droppers and MRP makes great drivetrain protection solutions. I’d rather opt for that. DMR and deity and handful of others makes great pedals. I’d rather support these brands because at least customer support their treat you with respect and afterwards don’t tell you that they did you such a great favor and you should thankful that they saved your life like OneUp doesn’t have any other competitionIvan P.
