20 Best Road Bike Under $1000 (Jan 2023 Update)

I bought this bike for road treks and I have been happy. There are two sets of hand brakes, so you can comfortably ride low or high and be able to break. It shifts easily and is great going up hill. It is a sturdy bike and lightweight.Bkdavis89

This is a pretty good bike for the most part. It is really for a casual bike rider not so much a long distance rider. It's a bit heavy for long distance but seems to be pretty good quality with the exception of the tires. I think we'll probably replace them with some good quality ones since my husband does ride quite a bit. He generally rides somewhat long distances (more than 10-15 miles) but because he's risen professionally, he can handle the weight at least semi regularly. Thank you Influenster!heather.h

Solid frame and what I would consider a really good beginner bike. However, the disc breaks on my are cannot be adjusted to where they do not rub constantly. I've taken it into a shop to get it tuned and they cannot help either. The spacing on the wheel and the frame are off. I guess I need to spend some more money and convert it. I'm sure this is a 5 star bike with the right brakes or a better inspection from the factory.Joshua C.

Excellent bike. Very smooth riding with a comfortable riding position. Quality parts from Shimano make for fast shifts with good gear range. I ride primary for aerobic exercise and find the bike gives me a great workout while providing a smooth, solid ride. I assembled it myself but needed to have a bike shop to fine tune the front disc brake and true the front wheel in order for the front wheel to spin freely. (Although the bike comes with all the necessary assembly tools (hex wrenches and pedal wrench), the included assembly instructions are not very good w respect to the front wheel / disc brake assembly). But as it turns out Vilano explains that you need to have a bike shop check the assembly in order for the warranty to be valid … not something I knew going in, but the bike shop’s assembly review and front wheel / disc brake tuning ($80) gives me added peace of mind. I should add that Vilano customer service is outstanding. Their toll free phone automated attendant menu could do for a few more option selections to make things more intuitive, but once you get through to the staff they is great. They give you the sense that they are genuinely interested in helping you solve whatever problem you’ have. They listen well, seem to be very knowledgeable about the product and follow up as promised. Overall I’m very pleased with the bike … smooth and solid with good quality parts. We ordered this bike for our teenage son. We added the Pro Build, since we don’t have any close bike shops and we knew he would ride it right away. The bike came on time and packaged neatly. Our son put it together in about 15 minutes and took it out for a ride. So nice that it worked perfectly! Totally worth the slight up charge. I researched bikes in order to find a hybrid bike that delivered more road performance than trail, at a reasonable cost. This one fit the bill and I believe is a clear winner in the price range $300. It does take a while to set up, and you should understand bikes or bring it to a shop to handle that for you. I understand bikes and I still became tripped up on the front derailleur, and it took me a couple days of working on it and reviewing video to first see where I messed up in attempting to fine tune it and then figuring out where to set it back to where it originally was set and then fine tuning it from that point again once I realized that's all it needed. The back derailleur and the disc brakes also needed adjustment and I did fine on them though but again, you need to understand bikes and also to comprehend videos on the subject matter. Took the bike for my first ride recently, so this is a maiden voyage review of approximately 7 to 8 miles on steep hills. It performs admirably on hills, where the 24 gears are a must! The bike is a performer for the price! Tires felt strong, frame is solid, disc brakes are great. The seat may need to be changed out for comfort, however, they are cheap enough and for the price of the bike, should not be considered a deterrent. It is better to NOT have a front shock for more road use, as that absorbs energy going up steep hills and that's what I needed this for. Had the bike pushing 40 m.p.h. or over and was very stable. Be sure to check the wheel hub and brakes prior to doing that though. Five stars for the quality on price point and the outlet shipped it fast and delivery time is reasonable. Remember, assembly IS required. The bike is solid but will need some adjustment once assembled though, so your call on how you do it, yourself or professionally, as it can be quite frustrating. If you were worried about quality, don't, it will get the job done for leisure to intermediate riding endeavors I believe based on my first take. Easy to assemble. Rides great. Excellent manual. Quality parts. But… No center stem to raise handle bars so had to get a bike shop to add a stem adjuster and lengthen cables. The bike looks beautiful and light weighted just as what I expected. But after assembling it and trying it on the road for the first day, I found that the front wheel tire went flat. I had to return it immediately to save the trouble of exchanging the tire. All the bike shops are fully booked for services. I don’t want to wait any more time just to change the tire. im in search or hunt i should say of a good road bike for beginners,ive set myself some short term goals for this year start with few miles and eventually build strenght to pedal harder but didnt want to spend a fortune so this just might be the rite one,open for all suggestions from the experienced fellas that will guide me in the rite direction havent road a bike since i was a kid im 52 so imagine ,thank you.

Bought this bike under some recommendations of online cycle reviewers, so far I'm really pleased. The bike came in great shape, only had to put together a few key items (handle bars, front wheel, and seat). I was ready to go in about 1hr. I've taken it on a few 30 minute rides, the seat is definitely firm but more forgiving than other road bikes. I think the shifters on the brakes and the overall feel of the bike are very high end compared to the cost. I like the styling and look forward to riding it to work on a regular basis. If there is one thing to complain about it's that the shimano claris derailleurs have recommended combinations front-to-back, so they suggest not using the lowest front gear with the top two highest rear gears and vice versa. The front derailleur offers a "half shift" if your chain rubs, which really comes in handy when you want to break the shimano rules! Next steps: trying the bike with a baby carrier on it! Note: it came with a lot of warning/warranty/branding stickers. They all came off (some easier than others) with some good fingernail picking. No glue residue left behind – really happy about that.CarlFS

Wheels are perectly true(purchased pro build). Very quiet ride and frame and spokes seem to absorb most road road irregularitys well. Slight chain noise easily eliminated by fine tunning of front derailer. Tires look a litle questionable, I don't think I'll get life that I was getting with my Vittoria Zaffiro V tires on my previous bike. Time will tellAmato B.

Price was really good. The bike had a few issues mainly due to someone assembling that didnt know what they were doing. Some minor scratches too but those look like they were from how it was returned. The rear derailleur hanger was bent and needed replaced. Got one for $10 and it was as good as new. Someone tried to put the peddles on backwards and damaged the starting threads a bit. Also had to do a lot of spoke adjustments to true the wheels. The bike arrived on time like it said it would. The packaging was good. No damages and all the places that needed be protected are all cover with cardboard and foam pieces. Assembling the bike was a breeze no real headache there, whew! Thank god for that because the assembling instructions that came with the bike wasn’t really much help either way. Everything else about the bike was great I like the way it feels. The quality isn’t the best but it’s also not the worst…it’s definitely you get what you paid for. If you’re planning on doing any long-distanced riding with this bike I’d the first thing you want to do is change the tires. I wish I didn’t have to return the bike but I guess I’m going to. The bike height is taller than I expected. I went off of the sizing chart that the original website recommended to me. I bought a medium and I’m 5’7”. I’m going to try and get the smaller size and hopefully the fitment will be more comfortable.Brandon

Broken spokes on rear wheel!! Tape on broken spokes to make it easier to see. Kent said since bike is out of warranty, I would have to buy a new rim!! You can't beat the price on this bike! It's well made, easy to assemble and perfect forcommutes. I would say that if you are 5'6" tall, this bike will be too large for you. I have had 3 of these Utban Tracks from 6KU. One was destroyed when I was struck broadside by a SUV, the bicycle sailed 75 feet, I went 25 ft. and received a broken ankle and concussion. I bought another 6KU as soon as I was able. The bike is a joy to ride, the 55cm model had a little toe overlap, but the 58cm had ample clearance between toe and front tire. I changed the heavy front chainring , and installed Michelin tires, with latex tubes and a Ritchey saddle… under 20lbs. for 55cm.F.D.

I absolutely love this bike. Got a different handlebar for more angle and comfort but that's just personal preference. The one thing I'll say is that I got it to ride in NYC and with the number of potholes and general state of the pavement I looked into getting slightly bigger tires but it doesn't seem like the frame offers enough clearance. Because it's such a simple bike I think people easily will customize it a little and that'd just be something to think of design-wise, wouldn't take much. Great purchase and value, came with the necessary tools for assembly which wasn't specified but a good surprise. It's light and zippy, simple but that down tube shape gives the design just a touch of edge. Got it in white so I could slap reflective tape all over it for both safety and to protect the frame. I have had 2 of these 6ku urban track bikes. The first one I gave to a younger kid for college after about a year of riding it, and the 2nd is my commuter so I don't have to ride my road bike. For the price, you're not going to find a better bike. I change the pedals and grips as soon as I get them, but other than that the only thing I have changed is the freewheel to a 14t instead of changing out the chain ring for more speed. I don't ride fixie, but I would if it was flatter here. As a bike tech I can say that the wheels need to be trued up a bit, but I'd ride it a few times before bothering so the spokes can break in unless it's rubbing the brake pads. Enjoy!S.

I bought this bike back in June of 2019 for $130. It was on-sale during christmas of 2018 for $99. It's crazy how the prices have jumped up so high for this bike. I have been riding this bike on and off since I bought it, usually in the beginning of each cycling season (like the past weekend), using it as a training bike. Simply because this thing is so heavy! It certainly cannot compared to my other sub 20lb bikes. It is very stable and steady. Hence, i have converted to a somewhat gravel bike. Upgraded the tires to gravel, brake pads to shimano ultegra, changed out the 14-28T freewheel to TZ500 mega range for better climbing, upgraded to tourney UN300 BB, TY500 rear derailleur, TZ500 front derailleur, and HG40 chain. It is a budget built, but for a $130 bike? I have already spent too much on parts. It shifts so much better now and never have to use the middle and small front chain rings. I highly recommend to take out the brake line and fully re-grease them and the housing lines too. It came with no grease whatsoever. This is a solid bike, but for $350-370, no! It's too expensive for what it is. The kent Nazz provides a better value because of the disk brakes. Other than the brakes and double front chain rings (which is the correct setup for all road bikes), there is nothing different between Road Tech and Nazz. Nazz just provides better value in price and offers more! Oh yeah, one more thing before you buy this bike. The customer service at Kent is the worst i have ever encountered. Don't expect much help from them, if you like to jump through hoops. If you buy it in the stores, look over EVERYTHING closely. If you ordered online, the first sign of issues, call Walmart customer server, return it and have them pick it up. In contusion, i would recommend the bike, but not for the current price. Nazz is a better choice, if you must go the walmart steel road bike route.MRdeuce

So the weather is getting nice out and even though in the past ive had bad luck with walmart bikes i decided to try again. Saw this Kent bike on a huge sale, seemed like a fair deal for a entry level road bike and the manufacture seemed pretty good too. I ordered this bike in a box so I could ensure it was put together well and wasnt one of those outside models that sits in the weather. After getting it all together, next came the adjustments (these bikes will not come set up at all) after a bit of tinkering i got the derailleur set just right and the brakes right where they should be. Now here come the problems. The front derailleur is not a click style, you have to search for the gear which while riding is rather difficult. The front brake bracket was bent slightly, no matter what adjustment i made they rubbed. The brakes that come stock will have to be changed out as well, they dont grip well. And the worst problem, the bearings front and rear were Grundy, like they had sand in them. The rear wheel had about 1/2 of walk as well, both the rear rim was out of alignment and there was play in the bearings. Being a bike tech, I pulled apart the rear wheel and repacked the bearings but it was too late, the rear axle was beyond repair and the rear cassette was in bad shape too, so bad it would grab while riding and fling the derailleur. So needless to say, yes this bike is cheap but you get what you pay for, expect to spend at the very least $80-150 more just to have everything completely gone through and if parts are broken expect more. I contacted Kent and they wanted so much information as well as pictures and videos of the issue and it still wouldve been well over a week before parts arrived and that wouldnt cover the labor to replace them. I've since returned this bike and bought one from a local bike shop. Really a shame, I expected much more.tbalonick

Liked the color. Great looking bike. Mine came with a bent front rim. Called technician and they sent a rim and tire that doesn't match the bike. They sent white wall tire white and bright trim. Rim doesn't match either. Now they are giving me a hard time bc I didn't buy a mismatched bike. I want a refund asap. Just remember if you buy this bike kent doesn't stand behind their product's.tabitha

I was super excited to get this bike but assembling it was a hassle even for a bike expert. Certain parts were just difficult to put together. And some rods came slightly bent. The handle bars are also too wide. But the overall design of the bike is gorgeous and very well made. I'm very pleased with how well the bike functions.Goldfish2

I just want to say that this bike is exceptional for riding uphill. I live on a hill and when I was using a regular old bike it was getting harder and harder to even try to bike upwards anymore. After getting the bike together with some assembly required with the right tools, it was smooth riding from there. I love how the assist pedaling works. I no longer have to exert a lot of energy just to get anywhere by bike. If I go riding with my younger friends they are amazed on how much faster I can go now. I love riding this in my suburban area. There is a lot of ease and comfort going on when I bike. It makes me want to get outside and get more exercise because it doesn't stop you from getting more of that either. The tires are sturdy and I was able to get on the bike right away without any extra adjustments. I can get more places without having to spend money on gas while driving a car. This bike has let me ride for many more miles per day than before, something which is more difficult for an older female. I would recommend the bike for any age, though. Brakes work well. Now I have to get one for my significant other to keep up with me! The bike is so fun! This is the first time I have ever used an electric bike and I love it already.Ganne

I got this bike on a Monday and my husband assembled it right away. We placed the battery on charge just to make sure it was ready for a nice long ride on Tuesday. I wasn't sure if I was going to know how to work the gears but they were very simple to figure out. We started out on our ride and I'm used to pushing my bike up the hills. I was so excited when I started up the hill because it just climbed up the hill with no effort at all. We had such a good time. I can,t wait to ride this bike again. The seat is nice and cushiony so my butt was comfortable for the whole ride. The frame of the bike is heavy metal and good quality. It's amazing that I can get up to 20 MPH while riding. I can get about 25 miles out of a single charge so I don't have to worry that the battery will die half way through my ride. I'm sure it would go quite a bit longer on a single charge but I just picked that number of miles to make sure that it is properly charged before I go on a ride. I would definitely recommend this bike if you want to have the time of your life while out on a bike ride. This totally makes a bike ride so much more fun that you will want to ride it every day.Gayl

You get what you pay for here. Bike needed a full tune up out of the box. Wheels were horribly untrue. Gear shifters were super tight and hard to push down. Need to find that sweet spot between High and Low gear settings so the chain doesn’t rub against derailleur. Popped a tube second ride out after hitting a tiny pothole. Hoping things get better with time since bike is virtually not returnable after being ridden. If I could do it all over again I would’ve invested a little more money for a better bike.Adam K.

I had my husband trying the bike he states that is very easy to use and very light so far he really likes it and enjoyed it he went around our neighborhood. Ok I took a risk in this bike in spite of some negative reviews often about a bent fork. Fortunately for me, everything was in order save for some missing screws. Fortunately, I found them inside the box. The bike was mostly assembled and all you have to do is attach the front wheel, handlebars, seat and pedals. And though there was a manual included, it was pretty much a general manual. Still assembly is a breeze or intuitive to say the least. I haven't owned a bike for over ten years and I was able to put this thing together without much reference to the manual. There was no need for me to bring this to my local Walmart or my LBS. Upon assembly, I took it out for a trial spin and came back to make some fine tuning on the brakes. Truth be told, this is the first time I have encountered disc brakes. All my life I am used to caliper type of brakes. And still assembly and fine tuning is fairly simple. And after adjusting the brakes, the bike is now fully working. Right now I am more concerned in handling the bike and building up my resistance. Now I have more biking to do!mmsumulong

Rode this for 2 months now and put on about 150 miles. If you plan on riding 10mi or less, it does a good job. Any longer than that, then it needs upgrades. I changed out the bar tape, saddle, and added toe cages since all 3 stock makes me go numb for anything more than 10mi. Longest trip i went on is 50mi and bike held up. Tires still look brand new. It gives a very pleasant ride as it absorbs quite a lot of road imperfections. Once i do hit a rock or good size bump though, it reacts very poorly and is a bit erratic to recover. Dont go by me 100%, but i unmounted the tires and it looks like the rims are double walled. The pedaling is smooth, and the whole bike looks great. The aerodynamic wheels work really well too and i have noticed that i roll downhill faster and further than more expensive bikes. Biking in angled crosswind doesnt push me over as much as when im on my mtb. The drivetrain is a bit noisy. Chain drives, but there are dead zones along the power stroke. I thought it was my poor pedaling technique, so i tried a shorter crank, but the same thing happens! Worst thing is there is no bottle holder, or even an option to install one as there are no screws or even taps. My hands were unbearable for my half century, so im planning to upgrade the handlebars. I plan on doing a century one day and have no doubt the bike wont throw any issues, except i'll be needing a better chain and handlebar…..maybe pedals too sinfe the stock ones bearly have any support. Brakes are ok as they stop authoritatively. The discs are low-end, so expect uncorrectable rubbing, and an obvious squeak on engagement. Overall, the stock form should be ok for people who commute 10mi or less, or dont mind going numb for any distance over that. In my case, i want more than what the bike is worth, so i need upgrades.Nguyen5505

For the price, this is a decent bike. I bought it in directly in the store and since I couldn't ride it long enough, I didn't realize the issues. Who ever put the bike together didn't know what they were doing. It had some minor issues with the chain and the shift. I brought it to a bike shop to see what could be done and if it was worth the repair/fixing. The bike shop realigned my stuff and took apart and put back together some of the pieces….once he did this, the bike rode super well! no more clicking noises and he fixed the shift. his words were " the person who put the bike together didn't know how to put a bike together". It cost me $20 for the repairs. knowing the cost of decent gravel bikes compared to this one, an extra $20 wasn't a big deal. Overall i'm happy but this by no means is top quality but a good value for the priceGia

I've had this bike nearly 2 years. I like the frame and the design of it and I ride it a lot, however some of the components are shocking. I have had to replace the front wheel as the hub went, one of the shifters as the original broke. I also had to replace the bottom bracket which was a job to do. The bottom bracket this bike comes with is plastic and when trying to remove it, it got mangled. I had to take it to a shop to be removed and the mechanic said he had never seen such a poor bottom bracket before.. The rear brakes have started to rust now so I am looking at probably having to replace these. To have had this many problems within two years is not really acceptable in my view.Bee

I bought the Triban RC120 as my first road bike, mainly for use over the summer months. I knew I needed a bike with an XL frame so was quite limited, having looked at a Boardman XL bike in Halfords for £575. Having visited the Decathlon store I found the Triban, which admittedly is in a different league to the Boardman, but was a fantastic price for something which will only be used for half the year. I've had it three weeks now and have done around 10-15 miles every day. All in all I'm impressed, for my first road bike and for £350! Rides so much nicer than my old hybrid bike and I've adjusted to it quickly. I had a puncture after only a few days, but repaired it easily enough and has been fine since. The gear shifter on the handlebars can feel a bit cheap and when riding in the highest gear the bike doesn't sound as smooth. The brakes are generally good, but wouldn't stop the bike suddenly if travelling at high speed. But I need to remember this is an entry-level bike and these are small problems. I'd recommend this bike to anybody wanting a cheap (ish) commuter bike or something to do a few miles on over the summer. For keener cyclists and those doing longer rides, I'd suggest paying a bit more for a bike with better components.Josh

After 800km, the bike is still really good. I don't understand people saying it's a very bad bike. Remember that is an entry road bike, and for its price it really does the job. I had one puncture after 700km, and I don't always stick to the road. I read some people saying it was really hard to change the air chamber but it literally took me 5 minutes. However, when I bought it, the set up of the gears was absolutely terrible, I had to do it myself when back home. But after that no issue at all. I would 100% recommend it for its quality vs price. Remember, you can't expect a £400 to have the same performance than a £3000 one.Florian

Customer service a joke! I purchased my speciliazed sirrus as my commuter bike for work. It arrived brilliantly packed in seemingly immaculate condition. Unfortunately the first time I took the bike out it was a bag of nails with only half the gears working. Because I need the bike daily for my commute to work I contacted a few local cycle shops but nobody was able to get it in for a week at least. Speciliazed suggested taking it to their approved dealer…. The approved dealer was 30 miles away from my home so far from an ideal solution. The other solution was I send the bike back fully packed as it had arrived. Now bearing in mind the box is over 6ft in size and that I NEED the bike daily for work that was not possible however I did have a cycling enthusiast friend that had kindly offered to repair it. Once I had told them this they basically completely forgot about the problem they had caused and offered no apology or ownership for their poor bike build. On the bright side now my bike has been rebuilt by someone that knows what they are doing it is fantastic. Just a shame all the stress that was caused by it originally being built by someone unqualified. I would suggest buying elsewhere.Guest G.

I'm not a "pro" cyclist, but since the pandemic I've been biking more and more. I brought my old dolce road bike in for a tuneup and ended up coming home with this bike as well:) I've been wanting a new road bike with larger tires for gravel trails for years and I guess this was the year to do it (my dolce frame could not support a larger tire)! I was just test driving a few bikes when the associate had me try this one out. It is a smooth ride, the disc brakes are new for me and they are great! I was hesitant to try a straight handlebar, but love the comfort of it and the end pieces are a plus so that I can change hand positions. I love this bike so much! unfortunately, it's made me neglect my old bike and I may have to sell it as this bike has every feature I want in one bike. Thank you Erik's! The only thing negative i would say is that when i downshift for hills, the low gears are way to easy for me and that is something I need to get used to/i need to learn how to downshift a bit better for my skill level. I liked that the bike has a steel fork so road vibrations are at a minimal I would not want an aluminum fork. I like Steel or Carbon. The tires are excellent. The disk brakes work well no squeaks. I thought the 8 speed was a little too slow. It was easy and inexpensive to upgrade using a Microshift 9 speed shifter, Microshift 9 speed cassette and 9 speed chain, I was happy the rear derailleur did not need to be changed! My bike has a strange squeak cranking steep uphills, also the plastic chain guard had to be ripped off as it is garbage and somehow got it self all chewed up in the front crank. I had to rip it off or be stranded, got a little greasy but that chain guard is not needed and a flaw in it's design for sure. I think it is a good bike for what I payed, but I would not buy a Specialized again. Customer service at the bike shop was excellent, Specialized Customer Service lacking, I would not expect much from them.Jeff S.

I wanted to love this bike; it seems like specialized had me personally in mind when designing this. An entry-level bike of the highest quality; light and fast but ready to bunny hop a curb or bomb a sand trap on an unimproved sidewalk. The chain falls off- Any hard bump, a root, EVERY time I ride off a curb. You jump off a curb when you need to cross a street but suddenly the pedals don't work. $200 microshift advent 9 w/clutch drivetrain fix. The climbing gears work, but even down a long bridge, I can't break 35mph. $50 front sprocket; $75 trials bars. $200 dropper post. I like the stock tires for strictly city riding, but that's not what the X does, and the tubes aren't particularly light or durable. $100 for pirelli and tubolito. Looking at other brands' gravel offerings in the $1400 range, the sirrusX2.0 no longer makes much sense. Based on my experience with the LBS, I will be ordering a bike in a box next time. 400 mile off road update to my previous review. I mounted a 45c WTB Riddler up front and a 45c Rambler on the rear and now ride primarily hardpack trails and smooth single track chasing Strava scores. I live and ride in a very competitive area of Denver where many pros and high level amateur MTB riders train and race. The trails are smooth, twisty and dry; perfect conditions for a flat bar hybrid like the Sirrus X 4.0 that combines gravel bike efficiency with an MTB attack position for aggressive cornering. I've earned three KOMs on this bike, and am sitting at #2 of 3,100 riders on a fast twisty downhill segment. I've earned several top 5% to 10% scores in twisty single track segments of a heavily ridden race course. Did I mention I'm 54 and weigh 190 pounds? Admittedly, this old Clyde is only running at the 60th percentile on climbs, but the Sirrus X is so light and efficient that it makes me look like a decent climber. This bike rocks with good ergos and adequate bottom bracket height for hard pedaling through corners. The geometry is ideal for twisty single track at 15 to 25 mph, and the Future Shock/carbon fork take just enough of the edge off the bumps without robbing any pedalling efficiency or handling precision. The two negatives to this bike are the wheel set and the gearing. The 24/28 spoked wheels are light. but a bit flimsy for a bike touted as a go anywhere type of ride. They require frequent truing if you ride hard. The gearing is a bit of a tweener that is too low for fast road riding, yet it could use one lower gear for steep climbs offroad. Otherwise, I've had no problems with loosening crank arms or any atypical issues. Sure, the shift assembly came loose and the spokes need frequent attention, but that has been my experience with any bike ridden hard and aggressively. I love this bike an I'm having a very hard time convincing myself that I could be faster or more efficient on MTB trails with an Epic Hardtail or Chisel.Highlands Rancher

This is my first gravel bike, and I only have about 40 miles on it so far, nearly all of which is on pavement. But I am very happy so far, and feel the bike has actually exceeded my expectations. In fact, although I bought it to use at our summer place in Michigan with the idea of leaving it there, I'm enjoying it so much I may just end up taking it back and forth between Texas and Michigan each year. It's great looking, very smooth, quiet, and comfortable to ride. Although it's only seen limited time off pavement, I'm confident it will easily handle the combination dirt/gravel, broken pavement, and smooth highway shoulder riding I plan on doing in Michigan. The wide 2X gearing should enable me to handle most any climbs and descents I should encounter. It should be a great all-rounder. My road bike is a full carbon Ultegra equipped bike, but aside from the Gestalt weighing about 4.5 lbs. more the overall performance is quite close. And while the handling isn't as razor sharp as my road bike, it feels very planted and controlled. It climbs and descends great, and while the Acera/FSA/Tektro components are a few notches down from what's on my road bike, they are smooth and work surprisingly well. The Marin wheelset also exceeded my expectations, and roll very smoothly and quietly. Even though comparing a gravel bike to a road bike is a little bit apples and oranges, the overall performance and ride quality is quite close to my much more expensive road bike, and I expect to get many years and miles of fun with this bike.Cesare57

was in the market for my first ever bike, opted to focus on road`ish bikes and had a very tight budget. looking at entry level bikes from all the name brands, this was slightly lower than the rest of them (trek, giant, etc), while having pretty much the same components . I am not able to provide an in depth review since this is my first ever bike,, but have used it for about 500km this past few weeks and dont have a single complain. with current market conditions, any other simiilar bike in this price range, would end up being a 'generic' or a small brandGERARDO
