I was excited to try On running shoes. I ordered the Cloudswift and Cloud X. The way the swift fits, it’s hard to believe they are the same brand. First, the swift was hard to get on my foot, even with the laces loose. The swift is oddly tight and uncomfortable in the toe box. They also feel stiff and uncomfortable even without standing. If this was the only pair of On I had tried, I would have no further interest in the brand. The Cloud X are fine. They are more aligned with my expectations for On. I will likely keep the Cloud X. These shoes are wonderful. I am 76 years old and still work 20 hrs a week on my feet, so I need shoes that are comforable. Prior to the cloudswifts my back hurt every day, but now it does not. I feel more balanced, stronger and more energetic. There is plenty of room in the toe box, great support and I feel a boost with each step. Did I mention how cute and stylish they are! And yes, even at my age, I do not want to wear "old lady" shoes. I love how the tounge is attached to rest of the shoe so that they always stay in place. These are well worth the money.Joycester
I've now completed 130 k in this shoe, although described as an urban running shoe it has served me well on snowy trails as well as running to work. It is well cushioned while retaining good spring – ie feels lively not dead. I love the the rock it: offers nice toe off. I am not enjoying the tongueless sock design. There is no way to get a snug fit at the ankle through lacing and my heel never feels properly in the shoe. That being said my heel has never come out. I'm guessing though it is promoted as a feature, it was designed to cut production costs. I also think it looks dorky. Not overly keen on the monochrome blue but it was either that or monochrome peach. The lack of tongue prevents the cloudswift from being a phenomenal shoe. I have run in Saucony, Asics, and Mazuno. The only other shoe I have liked as much was the Asics Gel Nimbus 21.Char 1

Love this shoe. The heel cup and mid shoe fits snug and the toe box is nice and wide. I originally wanted the sister model to this one that is zero drop but couldn't find an REI in the Bay Area that carried it. When I tried this one in the Berkeley store, I could tell right away it was winner. I think this maybe may gateway shoe to more Topos. When my Lone Peaks wear out I will definitely be trying out their trail running line. As from being very comfortable and good running shoe, the style of this shoe is not loud or obnoxious and makes a great everyday, any outfit sort of shoe. A complete win.
This is part two of my previous review titled… "This is a support shoe" I continue to stand by my previous valuation and comments in the first review, nothing has changed there with respect to this shoe being far from a balanced, neutral running shoe, but now that I have (almost) completed a full training cycle with my first pair of Fli-Lyte 4's, I would like to provide some additional feedback. First addition, the restructured heel cup is a brutal Achilles and heel destroyer. It took me a couple weeks to figure out what was going on, why my heel and Achilles were starting to ache during and lingered on for hours after my runs (not blisters, just pain), but eventually I noticed that Topo significantly reduced the padding and structural design of the heel cup. This change overexposes my heel and Achilles to a significant amount of the stiff material used to form the new design. This is a frustrating and clearly unnecessary design flaw. Second addition, the Zipfoam is not an upgrade in durability. It's stiffer, much stiffer, but also degrades in cushioning apparently quicker than previous versions. Throughout the life of this training cycle, these shoes started with a stiff harsh ride that quickly degraded to a non-uniform or non-balanced ride. After about 175-200 miles it was obvious the ZipFoam was not holding up during runs over 5-7 miles or in general overall in quality. This was my first experience with ZipFoam… I'm not impressed and consider ZipFoam a lower quality product. Third addition, the lacing system is a much-needed improvement. As mentioned in other reviews, the Fli-Lyte 3's laces are prone to coming untied and the overall system was difficult to dial-in with consistency. The new lacing system eliminated those issues. Fourth addition, the new upper seems to be an upgrade as well, though I never really experienced issues with the upper in the Fli-Lyte 3's like I did the 2's, so overall I'm pleased that this doesn't appear to be an issue. So, I'm giving a star to the lacing upgrade and the (apparent) upper improvements.JJ
I use my Topos for running, walking and warm weather hiking (when the trails are ice-free). I felt like I had finally come home when I put my feet in the Fli-Lyte 3's. I ordered multiple pairs. I went to order more recently, only to find the shoe had been "upgraded." The Fli-Lyte 4 took away the cushiony, free feel I loved. It's replaced with too much structure through the mid-foot area, noticeable lack of cushion, and loss of the soft tread on the bottom of the shoe. This happened to me too w/ the ST-2. I went to order more, they were no longer available, and the "upgrade" just didn't work for me. I feel like I'm starting over trying to replace the Fli-Lyte 3, and my feet are very hard to please!Elise

No offense to my Clifton 8s that I truly like, but are a little too squishy and actually tire me out more on long runs because my feet sink in too much (I'm pretty light at 140), but this shoe is perfection. I added a superfeet insoles to my Cliftons to offset the sinking feeling as a matter of personal preference, which actually created something similar to the Mach. However, on top of being a perfect balance of firm and soft, these Mach's have another gear and provide some snap for speed runs and help keep me moving on long runs. I feel really nimble and light footed in these even as I start to slog during the late parts of a long run. I really can't wait to run my half and full marathons in these. I loved these much I just sold my barely used Nike Pegasus 38s which were giving me some knee trouble the few times I took them out. I hope the Next version of Machs keeps the same formula.Alex
Upper quality and aesthetics are great!! Size seems to run small?? I am one month into these and can't decide if I should have returned them to size up 1/2. It's actually the toe width that seems tight and I am a 125lb narrow foot neutral runner so that is a first for me. Heel cup is great. I have been running in zero drop shoes for about 10 years but have 2 torn meniscus so trying these to give a little more cushion. With my weight I think it will take a bit for the cushion to wear in as I don't see a difference between this and my Saucony Freedom's yet. I am also concerned about long term wear with the lightweight blown outsole design. It seems like it will wear quickly and my friends who have had the shoe tell me I won't get a lot of miles out of it. I am light enough I hope they are wrong. I would love to see a similar offering from Hoka with a zero drop or at least less than 4mm.Chad
These have been great. Initially I was using the Cliftons for my everyday bulk mileagers but switched to the Mach 4s as a test after seeing they were known to be a bit better for picking up the pace. I feel like I get the same daily protection from bulk mileage but also the benefit of a quicker turnover whenever I need to put it down. These have even been successful for road surface workouts like 1/2mi or 1mi repeats but also handle my 15-20 mile long runs that have a lot of vert. The outsole is not very grippy so don't take any quick turns on trails in these, but that isn't what they are designed for. The lightness of the outsole is great for road training. Haven't been a fan of the colors they keep putting out so I've been rolling with the black and whites. I'm a 50-60 miles a week runner in race training and I put about 450 miles on these before getting my next pair.Matt P

This is a great running shoe for wide feet (4E wide width). Very Comfortable to wear with minimal break-in period (wear for a couple of hours inside the house with the socks you will be wearing while running/jogging). The UA Charged Assert 9 running shoe gets good to very good reviews by knowledgeable, experienced running websites. It is virtually the same shoe as the UA Charged Assert 8 running shoe which gets very good to great reviews. I ordered the Charged Asset 9 4E wide width because I couldn’t find the Charged Assert 8 in wide widths. A very good fit for wide feet and very comfortable to wear. My default go to was another brand of running shoes and have owned like 6 Pairs. The HOVR is my first one veering off that tested path as I try to change from my heel strike to a forefoot strike. I am impressed by the shoe and the tech it carries. If you are that stage where you understand CADENCE I would highly recommend this shoe. I picked these up for my 2nd grader because of the cute colors, and the UA quality. She had a similar pair of UA sneakers that she wore for a year and half, yet they showed little wear by the time she outgrew them. The Assert 9s are super comfortable, breathable, have a thick tread with nice grip, and offer good support. They're easy for her to slip on and off, and the velcro strap is great quality, that won't wear out quickly- plus, the fake laces offer stretch above the foot. They wipe clean easily, and there hasn't been any black transfer onto her socks. Definitely recommend these.MandiDC

I purchased these shoes because I needed a new pair of runners, but also because I needed comfortable shoes to walk in during my Euro trip. I was short on time and I ordered them on Thursday and they arrived for the next day without issue – impressive! While I can't speak to how they perform for their intended purpose – running – they are excellent for the walking I did on my trip, on which there are days I did ~38km of walking. Previously I've had a lot of knee soreness with my other runners when I walk long distances, but I really had little to none with these. They do fit small – I'm typically a 35 or 35.5 in shoes, and the 6 fit me perfectly. I have a very narrow foot and I found that these were a good width for running/walking. They have a ton of support, and in fact, I think it was too much support for walking. If you're going to purchase these for just running though I imagine they'll feel amazing for a 5-8km run. For a walk though, it was overkill and I did feel a bit of a 'rocking' sensation given the shape of the sole. These were a great buyand I plan on buying again from the brand.N/A

I absolutely love the colour of the shoe, it is the perfect coral colour! And the speckled sides and sole are also quite fun. The shoes are comfortable and are good for wide feet, however the black rubber sole is quite hard and slippery so doesn't let your shoe grip the ground or the machine you are using if in the gym (i.e indoor bicycle). The sole is too smooth and hard and if the floor in the gym has just been mopped or the floor is smooth (tile) the shoes slide, perhaps with time and use this will change, however with other brands new gym shoes this doesn't happen so just something to be mindful of when using them for the first few times.ipreece

I was developing shin splints even when running on soft surfaces. These were recommended to me and they've been working great! They are on the more heavily cushioned side and the textured bottom is great for trail running/running outdoors. I also use them as walking shoes when I'm traveling because they are super comfortable. They do not feel overly heavy but may not be a good fit if you're going for a super light construction for track workouts or cross training (they are a tiny bit wide and your feet will slide around during lateral movements). I usually wear a 9 and purposefully bought a 9.5 to have a more roomy fit when running.ejj223

When I went to the Chicago Lincoln Park store and mentioned to the associate that I’d be running in the New Balance Fresh Foams for the past 10 years, these Swiss shoes were recommended. I've only started running again this year after a 30-year hiatus and I've never put much thought into shoes until recently. I never realized the importance of cushioning in a shoe having such a big factor in how much it makes running feel easy and this shoe did it for me. Having started off with the On Cloudflyer in the winter and switched to the Cloud X in the spring and summer, I've run with the Cloudrunner the past two weeks after I suffered a slight ankle strain wearing the Cloud X. I use the FuelCell Shift TR as a pickleball court shoe. It's light — allowing my agility to truly spring to life. I'm believer in having custom footbeds so I did replace the stock ones. My new footbeds fit perfectly and give me that familiar sole support I've grown used to having. I was worried that the sidewalls wouldn't provide me with the necessary support given my sport … but I've been surprised at the amount of support it actually provides. It feels like "just enough" support and I haven't felt any lack in my ability to move quickly and change direction. I returned them and ordered a new pair, different color. Exact same problem. If New Balance doesn't have the quality control mechanisms in place to ensure that shoes are manufactured to proper size specifications, and/or the testing protocols to keep them out of commerce if they are, then no one does. In short, these shoes will not fit you. You may have to play with the fit and sizing, and maybe order and return them four times before you get it right. I wasn't willing to do that. Needless to say I'm extremely dissatisfied particularly since no other shoe company makes wide shoes as a matter of course.OnlyNB4Me

Very comfortable and supportive shoes. Perfect for high intensity workouts like Crossfit and F45. Unfortunately it’s just not durable. Went through 3 pairs in 6 months. If UA can fix the durability issue on all of their training shoes then they will give Nike a run for their money in that department.
I purchased this during the 9.9 sale and it was definitely worth it. I would like to thank UA for decreasing the price more. I now enjoy my workouts better because it made lifting convenient. I used to have cramps from other training shoes when lifting, but now this shoe is very stable and the glue does not easily come off. I normally wear 7.5 in adidas and that's what I ordered. This style was about 1/2 size to big and the toe was boxy (didn't notice from the online photo). I did like that the sole of the shoe was grey and not the usual white or black. Wasn't to fond of the mint, but since it was minimal, I figured I'd deal with it. I thought they would break in so wore them another few hours, bad idea. Pretty sure the top of my foot is bruised my the pressure. It's the only choice for someone who wants a roomy (foot-shaped) toebox and a moderate drop. That's why I bought them. The stability is excellent, the comfort is great, the grip is OK, the tongue is just the optimum length and padding, but the insole (sockliner) is simply bad – the foam is not dense enough and it compresses too much under my foot (I weigh only 65 kg), giving me no bounce at all (paradoxically, the writing on the top promises a lot of it). It's the worst Ortholite insole I know. I use them with Altra (Provision 4) insoles and in this setup they shine.Pawel
Oh man, where to begin? I had been dealing with running injuries on and off, and was in desperate need for good shoes. I ordered no less than 6 different shoes/models to try. I am someone who needs a little bit of stability, so my options were limited. Everything was hurting my feet. One day I came across someone recommending Topo online and, having heard little of them, did some research. I ordered the Ultraflys and WOW, no foot pain, no calf pain, SO comfy, yet responsive. I love that the toebox is wide, yet the midfoot and heel are secure, which is not what I experienced with Hoka/Altra. The soles are definitely higher quality than Altra IMO. Altras seem too flimsy. Overall, these Ultraflys are perfect for me and my narrow heels/wide forefoot, and all my running ailments. I like that the drop is 5mm- not too high, but also not zero. I just can'y say enough good things about these. I get excited each time I put them on to run. It cradles my foot in that sweet zipfoam. Please never change this shoe! I even went ahead and purchased the trail version- the Ultraventure Pro- and love that one too!Sarah
For walking, these shoes are amazing. I LOVE and thank Topo for the wide toe box and overall anatomically correct design. Today; I wore them on an intermediate Colorado trail, because I forgot the trail needs slightly more intense sneakers. And it highlighted problems with this sneaker and reinforced some customer complaints. First, going downhill, there is a noticeable slip to the front. And I ordered these sneakers 1 full size up. I'm not sure what causes this? But I don't experience this in my hiking sneakers. In addition, I never have ankle or knee pain in Hokas or most sneakers, but I'm icing my knee tonight after wearing these. Yes, they're meant for roads. So I take that into consideration. But I was surprised that my ankle, which never, ever hurts in any sneaker, bothered me in these on my run on gravel down the mountain. On my run down on easier terrain, I also felt like all the cushioning fell away. My verdict: these are amazing walking sneakers, the best I've worn. If you have narrow feet; you not only shouldn't be wearing these sneakers as their wide toe box is widely advertised, but you Definitely shouldn't be reviewing them. Every other sneaker on the market is designed for you! But if you're thinking of running in there, the jury is out. I have high arches, and while they didn't start hurting, I could feel early pangs. My sense is I need to try their cushioned sneaker or go back to Hokas until Topo works out their cushion. I'm an 8.5 in one foot and 9 in the other and the size 10 is perfect. A great pair of comfortable lightweight shoes ideal for warm & dry weather. The upper mesh on the toe area is a relatively open mesh which is great for letting the feet breath. I use the shoes for general walking on paths & around streets for which they are ideal. They are not designed to be waterproof so if you want something for a rainy day then these are not the model for you. I'd recommend visiting the Inov-8 web site as it has a handy query tool to advise you which model will suit your chosen outdoor activity. This is the second pair I've bought, I bought my first pair a year ago & they have stood up well to daily use. They are still serviceable after a years use but I've worn the tread down walking 2000 plus kilometres in the last year.B C.
This is my 2nd pair of Inov8 Roclite G275s, having previously used the older G290s and multiple other Inov8s over the last 16 years of trail and (UK "fell") running (Talons and Mudclaws). The fit is perfect: a technical precision feel but without the super-tight feeling of some of the x-talon models. This makes them great for long runs and regular use across a wide variety of trails. The G-grip soles are wearing longer than the older S-grip models and provide excellent traction. I really wouldn't consider any other brand than Inov8 for my trail running shoes, perhaps a little bias given I used to run regularly in the UK Lake District where this company originates from, but their kit has served me well for many years! I wish Altitude Sports stocked their Race Elite socks as well, which are the perfect combination for no blister trail runs!David B.
Like others have noted these are roomy at the top of the foot. Also, like other inov8 trail shoes, I find the insides a bit hard, so I always switch out the insole for something with a little cushion. The toe box is also different shaped, almost like a bullet shape, not a natural foot shape. At first, I thought this might be an issue for comfort, but it has been fine. I want to love these shoes. It's a good first attempt at a higher profile shoe but it still needs work. The toe box, cushion, and overall feel of the platform are great. I like the stiffness in the platform, but the cut is way too narrow at the mid-foot. The mid-foot is so narrow the inside edge hits the middle of my foot when I strike. This is not a problem in the other 4 pairs of Topos I have. The platform is also too narrow at the heel for the height of the shoe. A wider platform at the heel would be better for the overall shoe stability. The upper is comfortable and well ventilated. The sole is lacking a good traction surface. I'm honestly a little worried headed into the winter with wet sidewalks and streets; there are zero lugs on this shoe-which would be fine for a treadmill, but not for outdoor running. Keep improving this model!!!kari
I have mostly used my Spectors on the road, up until today. I took them to the trails, and they did far better than I would have figured. Of course the ground was dryer than an old man's scalp. I can only guess my opinion would be different if the trail was damp. I have high arches and a narrow foot until you get to my forefoot area. My feet become wide at that point. Typo's especially the Spectors fit my feet incredibly well. The new combination of foams is outstanding! I enjoy a firm but responsive ride, which is what this shoe delivers. First pair of Topos. Running for ~7 years. Wore Altra until they changed, NB Fuel Cell over 2,000 miles but these new Topos have replaced NB. First run-18 miles. Felt stiff initially then the cushion effect. Feet are an afterthought. Reminds me of a Kinvara but with padding. Wear a 2E and the toe box is ample. Picked up a second pair today at local shop. When I took the shoes out of the box they are so ugly and they make my feet look like clown shoes. Regardless of that, I have multiple sclerosis and have great trouble walking and have trouble with my balance. These shoes are so helpful and help me to be much more stable than a regular shoe.

Extremely disappointed in this shoe, was delighted to see they arrived fast but when I tried to put them on it was like trying to put my foot in childs shoe, the tongue area is solid and doesn't stretch I tried until my foot hurt and couldn't get it anywhere close to going on my foot, needs a wider opening or a standard tongue and it would fit perfectly, and yes I verified the size was correct, I suffer from chronic back pain and these were recommended to help alleviate the pain.
