Best Self Cleaning Vacuum For Pet Hair (2025 Update)

First the pros: We have roughly 1600sq ft downstairs of which this vacuum was able to identify 1200sq ft and clean it accurately before the battery ran out. The mapping feature is GREAT and I was very impressed with how well the G30 navigated all of our furniture and what I thought were impassible spaces. I thought for sure the vacuum wouldn't navigate between kitchen chairs and under the very tight spaces of our couches and ottoman, but it handled it with ease. When the vacuum did get pinched, it found its way out and I didn't have to intervene. I am very impressed how far these have come since the first days of the iRobot models. The vacuum sneaks into areas and grabs dust bunnies, hair and particles that your average upright vacuum will miss. It's no joke. It's almost works too well, to the point the bin will fill up quickly if you're not careful. I note this below under the cons. For hardwoods, this vacuum works very efficient and effectively. There are some carpet runners and mats that got caught up in the rotors but it still managed to get free and recover that section of flooring. I rarely noticed the vacuum covering the same section of flooring twice, so trust in the vacuum even if you believe it hasn't covered a section of house, that it WILL return to map the walls. The updated navigation algorithms are excellent. The Cons: We have a couple of pets and they shed constantly. This was our main motivation for getting a robovac. Before the first run through our house, we did a cursory sweep of the big areas of our house. Even with the larger dust bin, I had to empty the container after ~600sq ft and it was full. I wish this model would notify you when the bin was full via an optical sensor or something. The good news is the bin what chucked full of hair and loose debris that I missed, but know that the bin will fill up quickly within several hundred sq ft. The best thing is to keep the vacuum on a regular schedule to minimize how full the bin will get between cleanings, especially if you have pets. Although the battery will cover roughly 1200 sq ft without stopping, the battery takes several hours between charges. I think that's normal, but it took me off guard and it prevents you from running the vacuum again immediately following a full cleaning. Rugs, cords and mats will get caught up in the wheels if they're not heavy or are not taped down. Bath rugs, toilet skirts, kitchen mats and other small rugs will fold up under the vacuum. I'd recommend getting some double-sided rug tape from Home Depot/Lowes before running the vacuum. Either that, or identify which rugs were re-located by the vacuum after the first run and act accordingly. You won't need to intervene when it folds up a rug, but you will need to reset the rug once the Eufy completes its run. This might not be a con, but it completed our 1200sq ft downstairs in roughly 2.5 hours before the battery ran out and it still had a couple of areas left to complete, so prepare accordingly. After the battery recharges, (roughly 3.5 hours later) it resumes where it left on the original map to complete the house. The vacuum is VERY thorough, but this takes time to complete. Overall, this is a great little vacuum and the included boundary strips are handy. We have an elevated bed with soft textiles stored underneath, so the included footage was just enough to outline our king sized bed. We didn't want to risk the vacuum tearing up or getting stuck on the items under the bed. I debated getting the regular G30 but I'd recommend the Edge simply for the magnetic strips. They are handy and you'll never know when you need them or identify an area off-limits for the vacuum.

When my husband and I first got this in April of 2021, we were very excited. We would rate it a "5" for maneuverability. It's lightweight and gets under and around all normal obstacles. It seemed to clean well, although we're not as sure of that after several months of use compared to an Oreck that we still have. We would rate it's cleaning power as a "3." Maintenance, however, is a nightmare. We would rate that as a "1." We have to empty the filter basket/receptacle several times in the course of vacuuming our house! While emptying it, it seems like a lot of dust flies in the air around the waste basket into which we are emptying it. Needing to do this so many times is really a hassle, especially for two senior citizens with some physical limitations. The machine recently stopped working, and we had no idea why. We were ready to call QVC for a refund when my husband tried one more time to see why it wouldn't work. There are another two filter pieces you have to rinse out regularly. It had been a couple of months (we don't vacuum all that often) since my husband had rinsed the filters out. They were so caked with dust and dirt, it was so disgusting. The point is that QVC recommends this as a very-easy-to-clean and use machine. In reality, it needs a lot of maintenance to keep clean, and the dirt and dust are not contained. You are dumping them through the air into the garbage can. Hands/clothes get all dusty, and who knows what all you're breathing back in. Bottom line is that it is a very convenient machine to use, but it requires a LOT of maintenance to clean, and that maintenance is not sanitary. If you don't mind that kind of maintenance, you would probably love this machine. We have mixed emotions about it, hence the overall "3" rating.

The vacuum works well as a vacuum using the buttons on top and the remote. It vacuums well, is careful with furniture, and build quality is high. The app feature, which is most handy to see / check where the vacuum has been, is terrible. It took many days to set up. The instructions are not in the manual. Online searches didn’t help. I called Miele support and after a few calls over a couple of days they emailed me a video which didn’t match the app I was using but was close enough to get the thing going. The app’s instructions are really not helpful. You need to switch between your wifi and the bot wifi settings when you ‘connect’ to the bot. It doesn’t tell you anywhere to do this. Even once connected the app will constantly drop out and not let you see the map or control the robot. It’s useless to use outside the house. The robot sometimes doesn’t finish and errors out, or doesn’t return home properly. When it works it is a dream. Floors haven’t been cleaner. Noise levels are great. Easy to empty the dust compartment. So, I would recommend this bot – for those who don’t care about the app working. Bc it won’t. Read other reviews online – I knew this when I bought it. The bonus is, it will still work maybe if they stop the app support on newer OS / phones.

I’m trying to find ways to do less chores and cherish life a little more. I have two small dogs, a back yard, and a huge pine tree that drops a million needles a day in the yard that stick to my little fur babies. I run my Eufy vacuum manually while we’re all upstairs since my first experience with one of these was on automatic nightly, and my dog got an upset stomach (use your imagination then multiply the terrible smell you picture by 1,000) I probably mop once a month because this thing is thorough and picks everything up. I also put up my dining room chairs and breakfast bar stools because it spends a lot of time trying to get around those. Otherwise it goes under the couch and everywhere else and saves me and my back from miserable sweeping duties.

I purchased this robovac a few months ago and it is already broken. The side brush doesn’t stop spinning now. Even when it’s on the charger. I now have to manually turn it on to use, and then manually turn it off. So much for automation. I’ve contacted eufy and they offered to send a new part. Which has been an absolutely horrible experience. I have yet to receive the part. But why even send a part for a product that’s two months new? They should just replace it. Now I’m stuck, because I use this to clean my home everyday. A few days without it will leave my entire place with dog hairs. My only option now is to look at different brands and take this purchase as a loss. Sucks!!! Update: Since I was under warranty, they offered to replace it with a brand new one. Not just a new one but the updated g30! Wow. I was amazed with this support. I have to give these guys/gals another try cause they actually care! I’m so happy with the outcome of this because this rarely happens this way. I didn’t have to fork out a dime for the replacement btw. Thank you Eufy!

I have owned eufy product for years and actually had the first vacuum they released. We still think back to it fondly as it worked great for us. This new one is on a whole other level! Setup was pretty simple. It just comes with the spinning brushes and the dock with a plastic plate. The dock was somewhat challenging to set up as I couldn’t get it to stick to my floor and they vacuum would push I it away as it was trying to dock. I had to really secure it to the floor before it wasn’t an issue anymore. The only other issue I had when setting this up was when I tried to connect it to the app. I followed the included instructions and I, for the life of me, could not get this vacuum to connect to wifi. Come to find out, it was my firewall that was blocking the access. I was able to log into my router and allow access to the vacuum and it connected instantly. Make sure if you are having the same issue to adjust your firewall settings to allow it to connect to your network. This vacuum’s main feature is its LiDAR Scanner that gets a near perfect scan of your floor plan. This is beneficial for several reasons. It helps to create virtual walls without the use of sensors or tape. It also helps to create zones so you can tell the vacuum where to go and where to stay. Let’s say that a plant was knocked over in your living room and dirt was all over the floor. All you have to do is use your smart assistant and tell it where to vacuum. I told it to vacuum the living room and it undocked and went straight over to the living room zone and started to vacuum. I even ran it twice just to make sure it got everything off the floor. It’s genius. The mop is pretty convenient and actually works pretty well. You can control the water level in the app and the vacuum does the rest. I don’t see myself using this feature very often as I prefer this to just be a vacuum. I have vacuum mops to do the heavy scrubbing. This would come in handy to wet mop a hard floor here and there, but I wouldn’t depend on it as my main mop. Just my honest opinion. Overall, this is a great vacuum and an average mop. I feel like the mop feature was added in to add wow factor. But, honestly, I think I would have preferred it to be a dedicated vacuum. I still love it how it is and would happily recommend it to others. I would like to say, however, that at this price point, there are other vacuums that have the same exact features (and likely made by the same manufacturer) that come with the auto emptying vacuum dock. That is an amazing feature that shouldn’t be looked past. I know this vacuum can be purchased with that feature, but costs more. So, if that means a lot to you, then you may want to get the upgraded version of this vacuum if you love eufy or you can get another vacuum from brands like iHome that are almost identical.

We've used competitors to this vac that are much more expensive and much cheaper, and though this isn't the best of the best, I think it's actually really close and a great option. The most important thing to using this is to take a little time and set up the eufy app (requires an email and all that) and then enable the Alexa skill. Unfortunately it's one of those skills where you have to say 'Alexa, ask robovac [name of vac] to clean' (or go home). When it's set up, the first time you use the vac in the app it's going to draw a surprisingly good map. We have a few baby gates and I was really surprised it mapped beyond the area it was able to reach, so the laser camera thing is very accurate. Use this map. You can easily put up little walls and blocks on the map where you don't want the vac to clean, and in my experience this is essential. It's easy when you know you can leave a little clutter or that weird hi-chair in that corner and the vac will not go there. We set ours up to turn on a couple times a day and just run around picking up after our kids (who are toddlers) where they eat. This is a really tall order for a vac, but I figured as this one is also a mop it will handle it. So far it pretty much does pick up all the rice and crumbs. We have used this in the living room on carpet and it does pick up well, but we were only doing that to test it. This robovac lives on tile in our kitchen. I empty the bin every few days and it picks up a ton of stuff. There are better versions of this that auto-empty and I think that's worth the extra money, but ours doesn't have that feature and we're doing fine. The mop is pretty simple. Just use water, add the 'mop', which is a sheet of plastic and a cloth, and it knows that's on or off and acts accordingly. It's not an amazing mop, but it cleans the floor up to the point where you would want to scrub it or use a lysol or bleach. You don't have to worry about leaving these items out, because it won't turn on with items removed. Installation is generally very simple, but once in a while I've been confused by emptying the bin (by yanking on the handle). So long as you fiddle with it over the trash can you won't have a problem, but you will often be surprised when the door flies open (so do it over the trash can). The battery life is great, and it very reliably reaches home, but you do need to tape down the base station (included). All in all, once you set it up, you can either schedule the cleaning and just forget about it, or use Alexa voice commands, which I found easy to use. The quality is very close to the best brand that costs three times as much, and it's wayyyyyyyy better than a cheapo robovac. Primarily the accuracy of the mapping and simplicity of using the app make this thing easy to use.

Great robot vacuum! I like how this vacuum has a vacuum and mopping function! It was very easy to assemble together and set up on the phone. It also has a mapping function so I was able to map out my house and store the map in the app and have the robot run through the house automatically. The app is a little bit buggy but it does what I need it to. The robot worked well on hard floors as well as carpet. It doesn't seem to have a very long charge though, because it died after cleaning 2 rooms. Overall, it's a great 2 in 1 vacuum and is definitely on par with other mainstream robot vacuums.
