This product works fairly well. It did leave some streaking on one of my thighs where I must have applied it uneven and it left discoloration on my wrists but hardly noticeable. I didn't apply with gloves but I washed my hands immediately afterwards so there is a line where I washed it off. I am pretty fair skinned and I applied it two days in a row to get a nice tan color. It doesn't look orange at all. I was a little disappointed in the smell. Some reviews said it didn't smell like tanning lotion but I thought it smelled strongly of tanner and I had to take a shower before the smell wore off. I am by no means new to tanning, and when I say this is by far the worst product I’ve used it is. It’s orange, has no color guide, has a really strong DHA odor compared to others. I did everything correctly directions wise, I prepped my skin the way I normally would. I stood infront of a fan for about 40 minutes for this stuff to dry before I put clothes back on. I didn’t even keep it on for the 12-24 hours. I kept it on for 7 and I’m legitimately neon orange and there’s huge white spots still after I spent over an hour blending and trying to make sure I missed no spots. My mom tried it as well but she tried the lighter tones one and she hates it as well. I don’t understand how people like this stuff, I mean if you like being orange to each their own but I don’t and I’ll most definitely never recommend this product to anyone.emina.a

This a product I did not know I was missing out of on, until now after trying! I've tried self-tanning products in the past, and none of them stayed long-term. It ended up being too much work spreading the mousse with the glove, and let's face it, the strong terrible scent always stayed on my body. I'm loving this product- because it's so easy to use and works so well. I use it 2 x a week and mix it in the evening with my moisturizer. I love the glow it provides, and my body looks tan. I realized I only need 2 drops for my face, and 10 for the rest of my body. I applied 5 drops on my face the first time trying, and it was too much. With the 2 drops on my face, it blends really well with no streaks at all anywhere. This product does not break out my skin. I have a dry skin-type, and an extensive facial routine. I use a facial oil after applying this on my face. This serum contains alcohol, but it doesn't irritate my skin. I feel like I use enough moisturizing and hydrating products that it works really well. One more thing! I found out I'm pregnant, and I'm so happy that this is pregnancy-safe!!Iga_justdre
These drops do the job – not necessarily the same job every time, but the job nonetheless. I've used this product as an introduction to tan drops about 7-8 times and I do really like it, but I've had issues with consistency. I use it the same each time, but every resulting tan turns out slightly different from the last – sometimes my hands are extremely orange and splotchy even after washing several times during and post application, sometimes my face is unevenly tan, and sometimes there are random splotches on my legs and/or arms. This could most definitely be user error, but I've consistently used the same method each time and feel like the result is always a surprise. Perhaps if I used less drops for a more subtle tan, the results would be perfect. I first had difficulty with the tan taking on my legs as much as my upper body, but now I just do my legs twice and it works well. PROS: Easy and quick application with little to no residual smell. Love that you can mix it with whatever lotion you like. No post-application stickiness and dries very quickly. Way less streaky than mousse tans I've tried. You can easily control the level of tan you prefer – you can use it for a dark all-over tan or use it to touch up a slightly faded tan in one area. I usually do my entire body and then do my face/chest again with less drops on day 3 or 4. Lasts a surprising amount of time (usually about 7+ days for me with proper moisturizing and exfoliation). CONS: Difficult to see where you've previously applied product which can result in random splotches. Relatively inconsistent. Bottle doesn't last as long as you'd hope. Can turn hands orange even after several washes – I definitely recommend latex gloves for body and using a brush for hand application.Angela
I’m very fair skinned. I don’t necessarily burn in the sun but I don’t tan either. I’ve literally tried so many different tanning lotions etc. I even went for a few months to an actual airbrush tanner and while sometimes it would look okay, it almost always looked fake and I looked ridiculous. I seen a TikTok about using self tanner for contouring on your face so I said fine, it’s not my body. I’ll just try it on my face. I did it and it came out SO good that I decided to give it a try on my body. I used the “light” shade and it’s perfection. Made me dark enough to make a difference but it’s SO light and subtle.. I’m actually in shock at how great it came out! I exfoliated the day prior. Shaved and everything then before using, I rubbed regular lotion on areas like my feet, elbows etc then I used the mit that you can purchase with this and applied it from my feet up. It’s clear so that made remembering where I put it tricky lol but I mean common sense goes a long way… I plan to keep it up. Maybe reapply every week or so. Really really pleased! First, the application is fine, it’s a wet formula and goes on well. The smell however is awful, not just while it’s on, but for 48 hours and two showers later bad. I actually felt the need to apologize to people for how I smelled. My husband said it was disgusting. I have tried about 15 different self tanners for reference so definitely not a newbie. I had to put the color on two days in a row to get a tan, and then even now I’m not very tanned, hence the low rating. If I’m gonna smell the product should at least make me dark, and this fell very very short!!! I’m impressed with how natural it looks on hands and feet, and the color is at least a good color not orange, but if you want a dark tan, this is not for you. I also don’t want to bother with a self tanner that requires two applications for little payoff. I’m truly disappointed. I also purchased the ash one and I am hoping it’s better for color depth, though now I haven’t the highest hopes. It’s also a mine tan product, but it’s not for tanning, it’s just to improve the skin. I really like it, but for some reason it causes my skin to break out. I've been trying to find a good replacement for my (previous) favorite I can no longer buy. The journey was rough, but this color is amazing. This self tanner didn’t irritate my skin but it did make me orange and stained my nails! You need to wear gloves with this…in the directions it says simply wash your hands. Also it came out streaky and uneven. I don’t recommend sleeping with this on. I will never use this again. I had a horrible experience. I was super excited to try when I got this product. I’ve used it a total of 4 times, I like the color however after only using it 4 times my skin started to react to the product. I broke out in hives. I became super itchy, it started on my legs, continued up my belly and then to my arms. I liked the “tan look” but it came off in the areas where I had intense itching. I have small scabs on my legs from itching so bad, I had to use hydrocortisone cream to help relieve the itching.Kat B.

I am pale skinned and discovered the old branded version of this product (in the bronze bottle) a year or two ago which was the perfect colour and always streak free. Was more like a body lotion in consistency so easy to apply. Saw the promotion on the new branded bottles so assumed was the same but just different packaging and snapped two up as I use regularly. Unfortunately I was very disappointed to find St Tropez have *completely* changed the formula as well as the packaging and lotion is now thinner, much darker and like the old school fake tans from years back☹️Applied it anyway to try it out and found it is really strong smelling, thin and watery to apply and worst of all goes on with a noticeable green tinge-had my family calling me Shrek for the evening whilst I waited for it to dry!!!! Unsurprisingly the next morning I washed the guide colour off (thankfully the green didn’t stay on my skin!) but I was left with streaky arms and legs…I m a seasoned pro at tan application due to the need to apply frequently in the summer as I don’t tan easily and despite this I still had noticeable whiter patches which means I can no longer rely on this as my ‘go to’ tan. This is the worst product I have tried from St Tropez. They discontinued the old gradual tan firming lotion and replaced it with this one. It instantly sets and stains, there is nothing gradual about it. I used my hand first as this is the way I used to apply the old formula. It instantly turned my hand a greenish black seven after repeated washes. I used my mitt to apply the rest and I didn’t rub in one area of my leg fast enough and same problem instant blotchy streaks. After letting it dry for 30 minutes I got dressed and it stained my clothes. WORST TANNER I HAVE EVER USED! If I could give it zero stars I would.milkey
Really loved using this product as i love using St Tropez gradual self tans and was interested in using this firming gradual tan . It smelt gorgeous on application and application was fairly easy to apply it to my arms and legs. It absorbed fairly quickly and dried pretty quickly and it developed over the next 6-8 hours and I noticed the tan was a beautiful deep tan colour but also very natural. Loved that one application was enough for a gorgeous glow. It was also streak free especially around my wrists and ankles and was really natural and not orange. It also didn’t have the strong biscuity smell of most fake tans. Loved that you can build up the intensity day by day and incorporate this into your daily routine. I knocked off one star because the lotion is very emollient and if you use too much of the product it takes a good 3-5 mins to rub into the skin as it turns white on application! I noticed the second time I used less product this didn’t happen, so use less and gradually build up the application to avoid this happening in future! I have self tanned semi-regularly for a few years now. I wouldn’t call myself a beginner, but I was still a little nervous about trying this product since there is no guide color. But so far I have had no streaking, splotching, or patchiness. The color definitely takes 4 hours to develop; ideally I should leave it on for 6-12 hours to really get dark. I’m pretty light/pale and I got medium for reference. It’s not super sticky and the “self tan smell” isn’t as bad as some other brands. It’s still there, though. I’ve literally never used a truly odorless self tanner so I won’t knock this one for having that scent. The only reason I give it 4 starts rather than 5 is that I don’t like the color as much as St Tropez or St Moris. This one isn’t orange, but it still doesn’t have the green or violet undertone that other tanners do which looks better on my cool-toned skin. Overall, if you’re a beginner, I would opt for a mousse product. I have enough tanning experience to know what spots I usually miss so this has been good for me. before tanologist, I would just use gradual tanning/bronzing lotions but I decided after hearing all about it, I would try tanologist. IT WAS SO WORTH IT. I've used it only twice so far and I'm obsessed. The only small issue I have is the smell but it really isn't too bad. The tan you want to achieve depends on how much you use and how quickly you shower after, so you are in complete control. The first use, I didn't use as much and I showered after three hours and I definitely saw results but they weren't drastic. The second time I used, I left on for about 8 hours (overnight) and I saw beautiful results!!!! I use my hands to rub in and I didn't have any splotching but I did have an awkward fake tan on my hands (LOL) I washed them right after but make sure you wash and scrub them better than I did!! Tanologist gives beautiful, natural, glowing tan results. I’m a self-tan expert, I’ve tried them all because I’m super pasty white and tan weekly. Tanologist is the best, aside from pro/salon spray tan and easy to apply. The only thing is, it takes 24 hours to really develop. This is not an apply in the morning and be tan that night. I apply after I shower before bed they sleep in it and rinse and moisturize like crazy next day and twice daily after to make it last. The instructions say you can rinse after a few hours but in my experience you really need to give it 8-12 hours to see the best result. It smells ok, not like tanner but more green, grassy and the smell fades as it dries. The tan water dries more quickly than the mousse but only 4 stars because the spray nozzle can clog. This is the best self tanner you will ever use. Seriously, this is a must have. Super seamless, natural-looking tan, with zero blotchiness because the mist is very fine. I always get compliments on the color too. A much healthier alternative to excessive UV rays (though a healthy amount of sun is still great.) I like to apply after a shower before bed-time and make sure to spray evenly over my face and neck at about 7 inches away. I wipe the very edge of my hairline just, in case the product has built up and in the morning I’m all set, though if you’re having a no-other-face-products kind of day, you could totally wear this out. It gives a subtle dewy glow. It lasts about a week for me. I’ve never had a problem with this product staining any of my fabrics but I always heir on the side of caution and sleep with a shirt that I wouldn’t mind getting stained. I love the idea of a natural water self tan facial mist as normal self tan products always smell chemically. This has a sort of a pleasant peachy smell. The style of the bottle shouts summer so couldn't wait to give it a whirl – St Tropez here I come! I followed the instructions and did about five pumps over my face and chin area. It feels nice landing on your skin and is not greasy and dries instantly. I just then had to wait about 4 hours or so for the results. It did give me a lovely healthy summer glow but I found out that it is important to make sure you spray evenly over your face! I obviously missed a bit and I had a noticeable pale patch of skin just alongside my cheekbone which I had missed! The second day I made sure I was more careful when spraying and the result was definitely a natural sunkissed glow. It looked so much better and a neighbour commented on how healthy I looked. It isn't perfect but certainly gave me more colour which is needed in winter!
I have to say, I was really impressed with this self tanner. It was really easy to use, you literally just spray 5 – 6 pumps on your face neck and decolletage, and leave it, you don't even have to rub, massage or spread it on. It's a spray and go. I applied it before bed and it didn't rub off in the night. I woke to a gentle natural glow, which I was pleased about as I was weary I'd end up looking like an oompah loompah, but I didn't. The texture is non greasy, and it has a lovely soft floral fragrance which is really pretty. Also you don't have to wait half an hour for it to dry or set, it's literally seconds! You also can apply it before or after your makeup, I applied it to a freshly cleaned face. Overall I would say that this product would be an excellent purchase, definitely worth getting, especially through the sunless winter months, to give yourself that soft natural glow, and get rid of the porcelain skin. I love trying out clean products like this! But what I really loved was how I could build my tan to my preference. As you can see in my photo I am fair-skinned redhead. I have a hard time finding self tanner that don't make me look orange or dirty. This product is build-able so you can continue to add more product the darker you want to tan! Fair skin and freckled here. I’ve used a handful of different tanners going back near 20 years and this is by far the best one I’ve tried. Very smooth application. IF you properly exfoliate, apply cream like it says to on dry areas, and use the mitt as it says to then you will have a perfect application and colour. After it dries there is absolutely no stickiness or colour transfer. The only time I ever saw colour was when using toner on a face pad on my face. I use an infrared sauna daily and sweat a lot in it and using a cloth for the sweat- zero colour transfer. The colour on me lasted nearly a week with just the one application.Knitgirl
I tried this tanning foam on a whim, because I live under the rule that tan fat is better than pale fat.. so why not?! I chose this brand because it is NOT full of nasty toxins that wreak havoc on my body. I love that it was easy to use, especially with the body brush, it didn’t smell bad, and it didn’t leave me feeling sticky. It dries evenly and gives an automatic glow. I'm a very pale girl with pink undertones to my skin. The liquid is dark brownish red. It's difficult to apply because it dries so fast and is not moisturizing to the skin. I applied it using the gloves provided and a tanning mitt and neither really helped me put it on. Applying to my back was especially difficult because of the consistency. Maybe mixing the serum with an oil or moisturizer would help. The tan looks natural and it lasts at least a week on me. It recommends wearing overnight for a deeper tan, but it can come off on light colored clothes and sheets. The serum has no initial odor, but has that sunless tanner smell later on. This tanner was fine to try, but overall is not right for me.Amy
This my go to for a flawless, hydrated golden tan. When applied correctly in the evening hardly any appears on my white bed sheets! I always wake up with a great tan. I have been using this for years. However after applying my tan today from my delivery the consistency seems much thicker causing it difficult to rub in and leaving dragging marks. Love this and here's the tips for applying it. Apply it at night after you cleanse and exfoliate. I recommend using a kabuki brush, that way you can buff it in and see exactly where you need the product. This also eliminates any streaking. Let it dry and go to sleep. In the morning take a warm wet washcloth and gently press it to the face. This will remove any extra product that did not absorb and will even out the color. To maintain the color daily, I mix a small pump with the nightly moisturizer and every morning the golden color is still there and looks very natural. Just remember….apply with a dense kabuki brush. I had such high hopes for this. I’ve tried the violet, ultra dark and double dark, they are ok but naturally I tan a true cool brown so I figured this would be perfect. The color might be ok but it’s hard to tell because it’s so light! The bronzer is a nice color but after sleeping in it all night and rinsing off I felt like I had walked all the color off. I’ve been using Bondi Sands for years and while I have loved the color Bondi gives, I’ve found that it fades too fast, sometimes splotchy. Also, the application of Bondi is a bit messy and leaves me sticky for hours. I’ve been wanting to try different self tanning companies and came across MineTan. I was drawn to their products because of the different undertones. I have a yellow/green light tan skin tone so I’m not sure that dark ash was advertised for me, but I decided to try it because I wanted to see the “cool tan” look dark ash provides. The application of the tan went so much smoother than Bondi Sands. I love how I did not feel sticky at all during and after the process. I always use a blow dryer to dry my tans, and even after doing this when I was using Bondi, I’d still feel wet/sticky even after a blow dry. Not the case for MineTan Dark Ash. I can’t even tell you how in love I was with the guard color. The cool brown tone actually went perfect with my warm olive skin tone. The guard color also dried so fast. I could visibly see the color changing before my eyes. I love how this tanner takes to my face. It’s the perfect color. Also, the fade on this tan is great. Didn’t fade in splotches and the deep color lasted for days. I’m attaching a picture of my legs that I took four days after the application. Still a deep dark tan. I’ve seen reviews where people have said that this tan is only a medium/light level tan, but it definitely took dark to me. I’d equate it to the “Bondi Sands Dark” I only give it 4 stars and not 5 because I wasn’t a super huge fan of the color after I washed the guard off. It has a bit of a red tone and perhaps it’s because I’m used to the Bondi sands olive color, but I’m not sure I love a red based tan on me, think I prefer the olive look.Ashley

I live on the Oregon Coast where it rains most of the year, here we say people don't tan they "rust". If I didn't use sunless tanner I would never look tan. I've tried several brands and many times it did look like I had rusted – LOL. Sometimes because of the product, sometimes I think because I needed a "tanning for dummies" product! This did the job perfectly. I first got the set because it came with a smaller bottle of product and the mitt for $20 because I am not dropping $44 for something I'm not positive will work. The process: I exfoliated, shaved and moisturized with an oil free lotion the day before applying this, the next day I applied it, using about 2 pumps of product for each section (lower leg, upper leg, etc.) I followed the expert's advice about putting it on lightly over my dry spots (ankles, knees, elbows etc.) I also found by putting my foot on the toilet seat I could point my foot down in the seat and feather it easier on my feet. After the first coat I let it dry for about a half hour and then I applied a second coat. This time I only used about 1 pump per section and I did the second coat because I figured I would get anyplace I may have missed the first time. After 3 hours I rinsed it with just warm water and a little bit of body wash. At first it didn't look REALLY tanned, but when I woke up the next morning it was absolutely perfect! Not because I did a great job but because this stuff is so easy to use and it does what they say it will do. I have since dropped the $44 for the full sized can because to me, it is worth every penny.K.
I have never spray tanned or self tanned before. Topaz has been a brand I have been eyeballing for a minute. I didn't want to buy a big bottle and it not be for me. So I tried the sample size. It smells so good. It comes with a cute topaz glove in the case along with the tanner. It's a little bottle and I was able to get three uses out of it. You are suppose to apply every 10 days on clean mosturised and exfoliated skin. Now it does say up to three hours. For me I am a white paste girl, ok. First time I did it I did the three hours and I has a sunkissed glow. The second time I tried it and I left it on for 5 hours and I was BRONZED. this works really well for a beginner like me. my first application wasn’t perfect and i had some (barely noticeable) streaks on my legs, but i chalk that up to user error since it was my first time using a self tanner. the color matches how my skin naturally tans, and i like that i can leave it on longer if i want a darker color or shorter for lighter. haven’t had any issues with it staining clothes/sheets or looking weird on my hands or ankles. also doesn’t seem to have much of a smell. will def be buying the full size!Lindss1

I am a self-tan addict and I have tried many, many brands and product types over many years! I have high standards for how my tan looks and I hope my review is helpful! The body product is overall very nice but the price is less impressive when you realize how quickly you go through the bottle. The face lotion is nice too, but I'm not blown away and I don't like that it makes my face sweat profusely after application. The good: color result is beautiful and lasts a long time when compared to other brands (I swam in non-chlorinated water and it wore very well), non-streaking, no color guide is nice because it doesn't transfer onto fabrics, and it looks very natural. The bad: the product would only be a good price if there was double the fluid ounces in each bottle – I went through the entire bottle in only 2-3 applications and that was very disappointing (I'm not a large person). It does start to get splotchy on hands, between breasts, and elbow/knee ditches after a few days but I've never found a product that does not do that (I believe because skin cells naturally shed). I won't be buying the face lotion again but I will repurchase the body lotion. I will, however, continue looking for a product that is better because I'm not convinced that this is the best out there. I, like many of you I'm guessing, have tried numerous self tanners. After a skin cancer scare a few years ago, I'm much more diligent about protecting myself from the sun but also love that tan glow. I bought the face tanning serum and the dark body tanning lotion. I have tried drugstore brands, Rodan & Fields, Beauty by Earth, Isle of Paradise, St Tropez, etc etc etc. I will say this self tanning lotion is my favorite. I'm still deciding on the face serum, but the lotion is a natural glow with less of an odor than others I have tried. I like that the face serum contains ingredients that actually help fine lines and wrinkles. I like that the body lotion isn't thick or "gooey" feeling and dries quickly. It doesn't stain clothes. Wow this was the first time I used the St Tropez whipped Crème Mousse 200ml and I was so impressed with the results! I was gifted this to try out and the results are amazing Firstly I washed / shaved and exfoliated once that was done out the way I used moisturiser on the dry spots (knees, elbows, ankles, heels etc.) I was then ready to get my summer glow! I opened up the mitt and was so impressed with how soft it was unlike others I had used in the past. I shook the mousse well before using, I then went on to squirt the mousse onto the mitt and then applied. It literally had no scent which I was so glad of as usually other self tans I’ve used stinks and I can’t stand the smell but I honestly couldn’t smell a thing. The mousse glided onto my skin and the mit blended it in so well. The mousse absorbed really quickly and I was surprised that it didn’t leave me feeling sticky all day. Once applied all over I then cleaned my mitt ready for next time. I used warm water with a little hand soap I left the tan on for around 8 hours then washed off in the shower The results were fantastic I am so happy the tan looks natural and perfect for my skin tone it does say to re apply for a darker colour but I’m happy with the colour as it is. The St. Tropez Self-Tan Luxe Whipped Créme Mousse gave me a beautiful “I just got home from vacation” glow! I applied the mousse directly on one leg and quickly spread the product in circles using the double sided luxe tan applicator mitt, then repeated the process on the second leg. Once I felt confident that I knew I was doing I did my arms, chest, stomach, lower back, and only needed a little bit of help to get between my shoulder blades. For the hands I recommend creating a claw and just using the excess product so that you don’t end up with hands that are too dark. Honestly it saved me so much time and a trip to the tanning salon. The tanning mitt is an absolute must, you simply wash it with soapy water after you’re done applying to the body and it looks like new! You will notice a difference immediately and the tan gradually develops throughout the day. I don’t recommend wearing white immediately after tanning because it will stain your clothes, and just like most tanning products have a distinct scent, this one does too. Gifted by St. Tropez. I'm a big fan of the original limited edition version of this self tanner and was so sad when it was sold out before I bought a back up. Fortunately, I still have some of my old can and was able to do a side by side test to see what (if any) differences there are between the original and the new version. TLDR: not the same but 95% similar. Divisive between my husband and I, he prefers new shade and I still prefer older can. There's an immediate shade difference recognizable from just dispensing the product onto the tanning mitt which originally put me off. One thing that was so amazing with the first version was how olive toned it was – made it much more natural looking than typical orange tanners. This new version color guard is very orange and unappealing. I left my tanner on my legs for 12 hours before I washed it off. The results were completely unexpected – almost the exact same color. Honestly, based on how it went on I was ready for extreme disappointment (and embarrassment for having two different color legs). The difference is really in the undertones and really only if you're looking for a difference. My husband didn't even realize I had two different shades on until I pointed it out. There's also a slight difference in depth, the new version is deeper and I feel has more opacity to it (or maybe I just applied a fuller layer of it), which also added more dimension. It seems more like a flushed out tanned beach body versus a natural shade up progression. Moving away from comparing old and new and just focusing on the new can. I don't like this packaging, I felt like it was harder to dispense the product than previous nozzle versions. Love the mitt, St. Tropez has the best mitts hands down. This product is more like an actual self tanner rather than a gradual self tanning lotion. In the past I have used Jergens Natural Glow, St. Tropez Watermelon Gradual Tanning Lotion, and more recently Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning milk. I really like Loving Tans ultra dark foaming self tanner so I wanted to try this product next. After showering, exfoliating, and drying off I applied the product to my skin like you would a lotion. When I woke up the next morning I was like 12 shades deeper!! Which was fine and it looked nice except I didn't pay meticulous attention to my feet, ankles, or knees because I wasn't expecting such a dark payoff so quickly. The tops of my feet and my ankles looked hilarious but everywhere else was a nice deep, golden, hydrated looking tan. I didn't even have to re-apply the product to achieve the desired effect. Next time I will use the lotion more sparingly to have better control over how deep it develops. I would definitely recommend this lotion to more experienced tanners but keep in mind that a little really does go a long way.Nrsmarkie
I love this tan. I dislike the patches that cling to my knees and elbows no matter what tips I follow using mousse and how many YouTube videos I watch to avoid them. This tan is amazing if you want to avoid that. I still moisturise my knees and elbows before but it clings far less than any mousse tan. It gives me a great depth of colour and in the winter it looks natural when I am paler. It has a guide colour just like a mousse and developed on my skin overnight, I showered the next day and I was impressed with how natural this looked. You should still use a mitt as this is a strong gradual tan. It wears off your skin so much nicer than any mousse I have tried too: no patches.Emily
This should not be called gradual tan at all. I applied it with my bare hands and did not think much about it. It had a slight tint but overall felt like applying normal body lotion. Overnight this one coat developed into a regular tan comparable with any self tanner I used before. The dark shade of this tan turned into a beautiful golden colour on me. It lasted almost for a week without any further reapplication. The only downside of this product is that it is much harder to scrub it off than a regular self tan and you go through a bottle quite fast.Jane V.

I am pale skinned and discovered the old branded version of this product (in the bronze bottle) a year or two ago which was the perfect colour and always streak free. Was more like a body lotion in consistency so easy to apply. Saw the promotion on the new branded bottles so assumed was the same but just different packaging and snapped two up as I use regularly. Unfortunately I was very disappointed to find St Tropez have *completely* changed the formula as well as the packaging and lotion is now thinner, much darker and like the old school fake tans from years back☹️Applied it anyway to try it out and found it is really strong smelling, thin and watery to apply and worst of all goes on with a noticeable green tinge-had my family calling me Shrek for the evening whilst I waited for it to dry!!!! Unsurprisingly the next morning I washed the guide colour off (thankfully the green didn’t stay on my skin!) but I was left with streaky arms and legs…I m a seasoned pro at tan application due to the need to apply frequently in the summer as I don’t tan easily and despite this I still had noticeable whiter patches which means I can no longer rely on this as my ‘go to’ tan. This is the worst product I have tried from St Tropez. They discontinued the old gradual tan firming lotion and replaced it with this one. It instantly sets and stains, there is nothing gradual about it. I used my hand first as this is the way I used to apply the old formula. It instantly turned my hand a greenish black seven after repeated washes. I used my mitt to apply the rest and I didn’t rub in one area of my leg fast enough and same problem instant blotchy streaks. Really loved using this product as i love using St Tropez gradual self tans and was interested in using this firming gradual tan . It smelt gorgeous on application and application was fairly easy to apply it to my arms and legs. It absorbed fairly quickly and dried pretty quickly and it developed over the next 6-8 hours and I noticed the tan was a beautiful deep tan colour but also very natural. Loved that one application was enough for a gorgeous glow. It was also streak free especially around my wrists and ankles and was really natural and not orange. It also didn’t have the strong biscuity smell of most fake tans. Loved that you can build up the intensity day by day and incorporate this into your daily routine. I knocked off one star because the lotion is very emollient and if you use too much of the product it takes a good 3-5 mins to rub into the skin as it turns white on application! I noticed the second time I used less product this didn’t happen, so use less and gradually build up the application to avoid this happening in future! But I loved the results and would highly recommend to my friends and family.EmmaC77

I actually purchase the liquid spray tan version of this product at Sallys . I usually get 8-10 tan sessions out of one bottle. The box contains a spray bottle of tanning solution, a pair of vinyl gloves and a reusable MIT. There is no orange tiny to this product. The spray tan gives you a natural sun kissed tone. This is my favorite spray tan. I purchase at least twice a month. As a matter of fact today Sally had bogo skin care! I got two for the price of one. I paid less than $20! I like this self tanning lotion and have purchased it twice. It has a nice color when applying so that you have instant bronze colir and can see any streaks or areas you need to blend better. I don't like the smell of the lotion but the smell doesn't last. I didn't use it my face since I have face drops. The lotion isn't sticky or tacky and it didn't transfer on anything.Tara T.

I'm very fair skinned and have tried many many self tanners and bronzers over the years. I blend with my usual body lotion (Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lotion), I never put on my skin "full strength", because it's somewhat hard to blend once it's on your skin. As for being waterproof or not, I haven't had issues with water drips or anything like that, but if I go in the pool with this on, it will lighten or completely come off. However, when I apply, I always, always need a scrub brush to get it off my hands or else they will be stained, so it does stay on your skin pretty well. I also like to use this the second or third day after using self-tanner, it blends in well with the self tanner and evens out the blotchy-ness I get after using self tanner.Deepers
THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING. If you need a quick tan that looks like real color (not orange) BUY THIS PRODUCT. I literally got the best color from this right before a boat day and looked so tan on the boat the whole day. It’s water resistant and did not notice any residue coming off but I did sit on a white T-shirt and was sweating and had some color on it but this was long towards the end of the day and nothing was noticeable. I also think this might’ve been because I had a light fake tan under the lotion. I was extremely impressed by this product and I’m a person who tans once a week. Just remember to wear gloves because it will dry quickly and your hand will be very dark and it is a little difficult to take off right away.
This gradual tan lotion absorbs fast, without leaving any sticky feeling. It got a regular self-tanner smell, but very light, and it only smells for a few hours after application. I always used a tanning mitt to apply this lotion. It feels hydrating. The color it gives is buildable, and it gets darker the longer you use it. The 'Classic' shade is the perfect color for light/fairer folks! Most tanners come out super orange on me, this one is the least orangey I've come across. Even better than when I tried a full spray tan. You MUST use a mitt, it's the best hack ever for a smooth application and I wish I would have known about them years ago! Would have saved me from many streaks and dyed palms. It also allows you to get a clean line along/under the jaw, which creates a natural looking contour since I don't use the tanner on my face. I prefer a foam to an over-time lotiony type, so this is perfect for me. It darkens a bit over time, but since its mostly instant you can see any unevenness as you are applying. Exfoliate/shave a day or two before. Pile on lotion to elbows, knees, ankles right before applying. Foam goes on decently non-sticky. Buff buff buff with the mitt, circular motions going with the grain of any body hair. If you do get any spots on the fingers/toes, wipe with some nail polish remover right away and that should take any color off. Color lasts at least a week+ if you are careful to not exfoliate much.Katy
I'm liking this for quite a few reasons. It's easy to apply – much easier than the lotion and dries pretty quickly (less than 2 minutes on my skin). Not pricey, maybe a bit more than other tanning lotions and products but it's definitely worth paying that small amount extra as when comparing it to other brands; this product has the least streaking and most natural looking color, not orange, just a nice golden hue. Bonus: there is no funny smell left on your skin once you have washed it off. I find one full bottle lasts me for approximately 6 full body applications which makes it more than worth it for me. I hardly ever write reviews, which I know I should since I rely heavily on reviews when online shopping… but felt compelled to leave a comment because of two reviews I read here. One comment mentions that this tanner “washed away” when it comes in contact with water, and another mentions the “green tint” they got. These are not product flaws, that’s literally what it’s supposed to do. There is a purposeful tint that acts as a GUIDE for application. It’s SUPPOSED to be slightly greenish and it’s SUPPOSED to wash off lol. The guide helps you see where you’ve applied the tanner so you don’t miss a spot or don’t blend somewhere. The color develops over 8 hours (when it shouldn’t get wet), then you rinse or wash the guide color off. Very simple instructions on the bottle that explain that. That being said, St. Tropez is among the best self tanners available. I’ve been using it for years and years and it’s still my favorite. I’m pale with red hair and blue eyes and burn very easily, so I layer on the sunscreen, but I hate being pale/basically translucent. So I use St Tropez year round. One application every 3 weeks or so in the winter, and every 1-2 weeks in the summer (depending on how dark I want to be) helps me easily maintain a natural looking tan that’s long lasting. I honestly might buy two of these jumbo bottles. I’ve only ever seen this side during the anniversary say and it’s a fantastic value. One bottle should last me the rest of the summer and the other hurtle for fall-spring. Usually I buy a new bottle every couple of months!
