First, the application is fine, it’s a wet formula and goes on well. The smell however is awful, not just while it’s on, but for 48 hours and two showers later bad. I actually felt the need to apologize to people for how I smelled. My husband said it was disgusting. I have tried about 15 different self tanners for reference so definitely not a newbie. I had to put the color on two days in a row to get a tan, and then even now I’m not very tanned, hence the low rating. If I’m gonna smell the product should at least make me dark, and this fell very very short!!! I’m impressed with how natural it looks on hands and feet, and the color is at least a good color not orange, but if you want a dark tan, this is not for you. I also don’t want to bother with a self tanner that requires two applications for little payoff. I’m truly disappointed. I also purchased the ash one and I am hoping it’s better for color depth, though now I haven’t the highest hopes. I also ordered the coconut water one almost 3 weeks ago and it is lost in the mail with no communication from the company on what they are going to do to rectify and ensure I receive my product. It’s also a mine tan product, but it’s not for tanning, it’s just to improve the skin. I really like it, but for some reason it causes my skin to break out. This was the first tanning foam I've bought after having a semi-traumatizing experience with tanning water turning me into a literal orange. It was super easy to apply with the Bondi Sands applicator mitt, and I had no issues with streaks or splotchiness. I also applied the foam to my face with a fluffy makeup brush, and there were no problems either. I let it soak into my skin and dry for about an hour, and then I put on loose fitting clothes and went to sleep. When I woke up my white bedsheets had a pink tint where I was laying, but the stain came off easily in the washer. The main issue is after one shower the majority of the color came off as well (I patted my skin dry with a towel afterwards instead of swiping). Its a shame because the color looked so nice before showering. After two washes the color was completely gone. The shipping method is also so annoying but that's not related to the performance of the product. On a positive note, the application to my face did not cause any breakouts, which is surprising considering I have sensitive/acne-prone skin.Olivia
So the color is great, not orange at all. However, it's so sticky and does not dry easy. It's easier to work around in the summer, I just put on a bikini and go outside and it dries a little faster. It's so annoying because it transfers on everything when you sleep. Who wants stained sheets? It's 2022 not 1990, fix the formula. Other self tanners don't stain, so obviously it can be fixed. The color is nice though, but you need to leave it overnight or for 6 hours unless you actually are somehow able to reapply again after two hours and somehow touch absolutely nothing for a couple hours after that because the second coat will stain any and everything you touch. So overall, I will probably not use again as it's too high maintenance. But if given free I would absolutely use. FYI for value: St. Moritz tanner is like $10 and doesn't stain and dries easier. So I will def go back to that. Loving tan gives the most realistic tan but it's expensive. And Lamakiage is the absolute worst tanner I've ever used. I purchased this tan because I was sick of using tans that leave you feeling so sticky and transfer quite a lot after applying. I have been using the loving tan before so thought I would give this a try as it’s more affordable and I liked the fact it had the Aragon Oil in it to moisturise your skin as mines would get quite dry with tan. There is no colour guide when applying this so you sort of have to make sure everything is rubbed in as best you can. After applying I have never in my life felt so sticky! I stood for at least half an hour before dressing and still felt like I was so wet and slippery! I felt absolutely horrible. Also everyone said no transfer? Well my clothes are covered with transfer so if anyone could please tell me what I’ve done wrong. This tan has definitely gave off the worst transfer I have ever had. Don’t get me wrong it is a beautiful sun-kissed colour (that’s after two coats) and doesn’t stink as bad the way other tans do. Also my hands look quite nice. I normally find they’re quite hard to tan and I found this tan didn’t stick to them and leave them patchy. I bought the gradual tanning milk to top it up my body and leave it darker if I desire. I have a VERY light complection so the sun and I are not compatible. I wear shorts and my legs glow in the dark so I really like to use a sunless tanner. I've tried all different kinds of sunless tanners and orange is not my color. This tanner does not leave me orange and I've even got compliments on it from good friends that aren't afraid to tell me like it is. Lol. You HAVE to exfoliate your skin before using ANY sunless tanner or you will have streaks. I followed the directions and used latex gloves for application. A small amount goes a long ways. It takes two to three applications to get the darkness I want. (Light to medium darkness) and then a small amount after showers to maintain it. I really like the Disco Candy tan. It doesn’t really have a sweet smell to me, but doesn’t smell like fake tan either! I usually put it on in the morning and leave it on all day, so if I see any spots I can fix then as they develop. I like to leave mine on for a full day so I will be bronzed for long before I rinse off. Never had any transfer onto clothing! Well before I rinse this off, I use Plump up the Bronze lotion to even it out over night. I use this as a quick tan because it fades quickly if you’re a frequent hand/face washer. This tanner is awesome! This formula smells great & dries quickly, and I don't have to be as cautious about not getting near anything damp while the color develops. The product is very green at first, but it turns into a lovely olive tan. Be sure to follow the recommended exfoliate-shave-moisturize routine before tanning, and I usually let this brand develop for at least 2 hours before rinsing. I will say be very cautious with your hands! That's the only place the color got a bit splotchy, but my hand washing habits have blended most of that out within a day of wear.Abby
Full disclosure: this is my first EVER use of a self tanner… and this stuff really does live up to the hype. It didn't leave me streaky, it didn't turn me orange, and it blended into the skin beautifully. And it does last a long time. I have self tanned semi-regularly for a few years now. I wouldn’t call myself a beginner, but I was still a little nervous about trying this product since there is no guide color. But so far I have had no streaking, splotching, or patchiness. The color definitely takes 4 hours to develop; ideally I should leave it on for 6-12 hours to really get dark. I’m pretty light/pale and I got medium for reference. It’s not super sticky and the “self tan smell” isn’t as bad as some other brands. It’s still there, though. I’ve literally never used a truly odorless self tanner so I won’t knock this one for having that scent. The only reason I give it 4 starts rather than 5 is that I don’t like the color as much as St Tropez or St Moris. This one isn’t orange, but it still doesn’t have the green or violet undertone that other tanners do which looks better on my cool-toned skin. Overall, if you’re a beginner, I would opt for a mousse product. I have enough tanning experience to know what spots I usually miss so this has been good for me. before tanologist, I would just use gradual tanning/bronzing lotions but I decided after hearing all about it, I would try tanologist. IT WAS SO WORTH IT. I've used it only twice so far and I'm obsessed. The only small issue I have is the smell but it really isn't too bad. The tan you want to achieve depends on how much you use and how quickly you shower after, so you are in complete control. The first use, I didn't use as much and I showered after three hours and I definitely saw results but they weren't drastic. The second time I used, I left on for about 8 hours (overnight) and I saw beautiful results!!!! I use my hands to rub in and I didn't have any splotching but I did have an awkward fake tan on my hands (LOL) I washed them right after but make sure you wash and scrub them better than I did!! Tanologist gives beautiful, natural, glowing tan results. I’m a self-tan expert, I’ve tried them all because I’m super pasty white and tan weekly. Tanologist is the best, aside from pro/salon spray tan and easy to apply. The only thing is, it takes 24 hours to really develop. This is not an apply in the morning and be tan that night. I apply after I shower before bed they sleep in it and rinse and moisturize like crazy next day and twice daily after to make it last. The instructions say you can rinse after a few hours but in my experience you really need to give it 8-12 hours to see the best result. It smells ok, not like tanner but more green, grassy and the smell fades as it dries. The tan water dries more quickly than the mousse but only 4 stars because the spray nozzle can clog. i like this product. its the first one ive ever used. i applied it at night and by the morning the glitter was gone. there are a few places where it rubbed off so i need to be nore careful next time. also i probably wont put any on my feet next time. i used a makeup brush and that still wasnt a good idea. everywhere i used a mitt looks pretty good though. it is quite dark against my fair skin so for sure should have went down to light maybe but overall not bad. not a fan of the sticky ness while its drying but easy to get over when you just expect it. it didnt stay sticky. i do wish it dried a little faster. its very hard to get off though so while thats probably mostly a good thing.. its harder to get rid of mistakes.alucas
I'm so glad I found this at Walmart. I used this a couple yrs ago and loved it but have been unable to find it at the other drug store I shop at. The application is hard to mess up and if you exfoliate with both a scrub and a glove, it goes on so well and leaves an even glowy color to my skin. I use a cheap application glove to apply it. I've used soooo many sunless tanners and I am sick of the streaking ( mousse is notorious for streaking). I don't get the bad reviews on it being 'watery', mine is a thicker gel- like consistency. If I could give this zero stars I would. I was excited to get this in the mail and try it I ordered it off Walmart.com. First of all I’m a pretty pale skinned person so I was looking for a little summer color without sitting in the sun all the time. This product does give pretty nice color I will give it that. I have no idea how this product has a majority of good reviews, in the instructions it says to wait until it dries before you get dressed and it literally takes so long to dry and while you’re waiting for it to dry you feel grossly sticky. The people that left these good reviews maybe they don’t mind feeling sticky, who knows. I hope I help someone else out before buying this product because it is a no go. I cannot sit around my house basically naked waiting for this stuff to take it’s good old time to dry and feel super sticky. I tried to stick it out for the second night but I couldn’t take it anymore I got in the shower and washed it all off. Please read this review before you buy this self tanner. I love this product for its clean beauty and the light even normal non orange color it produced . I am pleasantly suprised. I don’t lay out in sun, my skin naturally becomes tan in late spring summer just walking my dog. I bought this to use for arms and legs before bathing suit season starts . Ease of use, no transfer , it drys in a few minutes and on first application it was very light . You shoukd exfoliate day before use and the best results . I did this and did a light spray on my arms and lower legs and chest. I wear my nails manicured and I even put on hands with a makeup sponge. Perfect.. just don’t keep spraying I find you spray in your hands and spread on fronts and backs of arms and legs . I wash my hands with a loofa type sponge so my palms are not orangey. If you use this and take your time , the results are so much better than other colored self tanners. I def recommend if you want some light sun kissed skin with capris and shirtsleeves try it. I have used the drops before but I like this for my face also. I spray with a headband on and spread with clean blending sponge, let dry and serum eyecreme moisturizer etc. it looks very natural and I only use an eye brightener and tinted sunscreen , look tan and no base needed for myself. I have really pale skin and self tanning lotions or sprays have never looked good on me. Needless to say I didn't have very high hopes for these drops, but I am surprised to say I was proved wrong! These are a great choice for someone who has trouble getting an even look that doesn't look too orangey. Even though the bottle isn't very big it lasts quite a while. I found going conservative keeps you looking much more natural and gives the sun kissed look without an unnatural orangey appearance. If you use too much you may end up with the dreaded orange look. It's really easy to apply-just add a few drops to your normal body lotion or facial lotion and mix it up and apply like usual. For an even look I'd highly suggest to exfoliate properly beforehand, but even if you don't it applies pretty well and looks good when it's absorbed. The only downside to this product is that the tan doesn't seem to last a long time. It's there for about 3 days or so and then it's time to reapply. But because it's so easy to apply it's not too much of a hindrance. I also did have a slight amount of acne that popped up after use-although it may have just been my face reacting to a new product and it has since subsided just fine. This is a great product! I got the exact tan I wanted, and it was simple enough to add to my lotion after my shower. It does have that typical fake-tanner smell, which I don't mind. It's not overwhelming, and it fades in a couple hours. Don't be convinced by the people who say this product streaks; that's just user error, and they don't know how to apply it properly. After showering and exfoliating my body, I used rubber gloves to apply it so my hands didn't stain. I squirt some lotion onto my finger, put about 5 drops (per area on my body) into my palm, then took my free hand to mix them together, and finally applied to each area just like I'm putting lotion on. No streaks, no patches, just a flawless, beautiful golden tan. This product does everything it claims, when used properly. BACKGROUND: Having said all that, I am not a fake-tanner. I don't have a lot of experience with it, I've never even been to a tanning salon (I'm 30). The most experience I have with fake tanning is a bottle of Jergen's natural glow I used at least ten years ago. I prefer the natural tan I get from being outdoors. However, I haven't had time to get outside as much as I'd like lately, and I've been craving that beautiful sun-kissed look. (Although, self tanner is just as harmful to your body as a sun tan due to the DHA or erythrulose in it, if not worse since you're not getting any vitamin D, in fact, it's depleting your body of the vital nutrient. Great product. I’ve tried almost everything from loving tan and other brands. Caveat that I prefer the ultra dark from the non-express, though this is my backup when I’m going to restock and my preferred is out. It’s nice to alternate between developing time, too. The color after two hours is great, non streaky, deep, and golden. Sometimes I will still sleep in it as I’m used to the 6-8 hour development time of the standard formula. I don’t wake up looking over developed. Exfoliation makes the difference in a poor/good application. Exfoliate properly! This will stain sheets or clothes when wearing. Sometimes I will blowdry on cool or stand in front of my fan to help wirh dressing but it will transfer if not careful. If it’s on sheets or clothing, it comes out still in the wash. Make sure you have a mattress protector under your sheets, too! Use lotion afterwards to preserve.emilee.g
This is a Holy Grail product for sure. I have naturally pale olive skin and this literally looks like my skin tone, but darker. There is not even a whiff of orange in this formula. I have tried Loving Tan 8-hour and this Express formula; there are trade-offs. With any Express formula, after the time passes (2 hours) you RINSE off the guide color (no soap) and the color continues to develop up to 24 hours. Do not apply lotion, and try to avoid water during this 24 hour period. Loving Tan sells the overnight formula in Ultra Dark color, which I prefer, BUT I find the 2 hour formula more convenient. If the color isn't dark enough, just reapply after 24 hours. This product goes on easily with the applicator mitt (also way better quality than drugstore brands) and comes off after a week with a bit of scrub and an exfoliating mitt. In the meantime it fades evenly – EVEN IN WATER. If I use self tanner to go to the beach, I still want to go in the water! This product absolutely lets you do that, it'll just fade without leaving patches. My one and only complaint is that after opening, the bottle leaks if you don't keep it vertical. Like most self-tanners, I am constantly chasing the high of finding *the* perfect tanning product. Problem is, I really don't think it exists. However this is pretty close. I am naturally pale with dark features and warm undertones so the "orange"ness of this product doesn't bother me. I feel like it develops into a solid brown with red undertones. Not to offend anyone, but I don't find that product works well on blondes or anyone with cool undertones. The contrast is too dramatic and it DOES look more orange. All of this said, the product works best if you keep it on between 3-4 hours (any longer I find it can get splotchy) and then sleeping while it develops. The color 8 hours after rinse is amazing. It can be quite drying and can be difficult to exfoliate it off, but it's not unbearable. Just take a hot shower and scrub with a wash cloth and soap. I have very fair skin and don’t tan often. I prefer a natural glow to a really heavy fake tan look and I am always weary of the outcome when trying new self tan products. I almost didn’t buy this product for fear of it looking too artificial on my pale skin, but I have used their tanning water products in the past and did enjoy them so I pulled the trigger. This is probably my favorite self tanning product now. I read many reviews before trying and found a lot of people said their tan looked best after 4 hours. I thought that being so pale, that would probably be a good guideline for me to go by so I set a timer but felt I didn’t have much color yet so I left it on longer. I ended up leaving it on for a full 24 hours and got the most beautiful, natural looking glow. I applied it with a tanning mitt, the one I used it the b.tan mitt from Walmart- I prefer this one because it has more of a flocked, plush texture that I feel gives a smoother blend. I prepped by exfoliating, shaving, and moisturizing dry areas with Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Dream Body Cream. I feel this moisturizer paired really well because it has such a light and non-greasy formula. The areas I went over that I had moisturized prior looked well blended. After one use I got results that I absolutely love and I will be using it again today on my lower legs and upper arms to add a little extra warmth. This product also has a fine shimmer in it, giving the skin a healthy glow. As some others have mentioned, this butter does have a scent, I agree that it smells like cucumber, but I disagree that it’s too overwhelming or turns in scent. The scent didn’t bother me one bit and I felt like it wore off after about 6 hours. My hands and feet even looked natural. I just use whatever is left over at the end and graze over my hands and feet so give them some subtle color. Again, I feel like the specific mitt I use probably plays a big part in how smooth it looks overall. 10/10 would absolutely recommend!iamacmrn
I was very pleased with this product. I have tried countless self tanning products and this one I would definitely say is a self tanner and not just a gradual bronzing lotion. The only reason I give it four stars and not five is because it did not dry as quickly as I would’ve liked, I would say don’t put this on unless you have 2 to 3 hours to kill before leaving the house. I saw a lot of reviews that said that this product came out very uneven and I would say that’s probably because most people did not give it enough time before putting clothing on. As long as you exfoliate and shave this product will come out I’m good very evenly. As for the color it was a hint orange with one application. After the second application the color definitely got deeper and was more bronze. To fix the color after the first application I put on the Sally Hansen airbrush legs all over my body (I used “tan” color) which is my go to for a quick cover-up and the color was beautiful. The body butter was not completely dry so the lotion did flake off a bit in some areas but I was easily able to go over it and it was completely even. Doing this also helped the body butter dry a lot faster. For $25 this product is great and I will definitely be re-purchasing. What I also like about it is that the color fades very evenly, which is great because even when I shave and the color somewhat comes off it is still very even which is great for when you need to do another application. If anybody is going to try my trick with the Sally Hansen leg make up I would still do it when the body butter is still not completely dry so you see exactly how even it’s going to look when it’s completely dry. For reference I have very pale Irish skin and I find the IOP light tanning water gives me the perfect colour. I decided to try this product as my skin is dry and I wanted to try a more moisturising formula. The first time I used it I hated it. The colour was too dark for me and the tan was patchy. I put it in the back of a cupboard and discovered it again a couple of months later and decided to give it another chance- the second time I was less heavy handed in my application and I worked it in well with a tanning mitt and I really liked the resulting colour. I liked it so much I would consider repurchasing. It was however very hard to squeeze the product out of the bottle. In summary- nice moisturising formula, not really a gradual tanner as the description would suggest and anyone with reduced function of their hands would not be able to get the product out of the bottleBronagh

Honestly, I don't understand how some people do not like this self tanner. It is THE best color and doesn't streak for me. People, USE the mitt, do not try and apply this with gloves or bare hands. As long as you shower, exfoliate and apply this to completely dry skin you will not have any issues. I am olive toned complexion so the color guard works better for me than most. Try a little bit at a time and really learn to buff with the mitt. Overall, I always come back to fake bake. I received this product to review. I was very nervous about using a Fake Bake after an awful result many years ago with a different self-tan branded product and yuk the smell! I took the plunge and tried Fake Bake on my legs using the gloves provided. There was a guide colour but this faded after a while so I wasn?t sure if I had applied it properly. After a few hours, I was delighted to see a very natural light tan. The smell wasn?t too bad and easily washes away. Now I have seen the results, I will be trying more to deepen the colour. I?m extremely impressed! No wonder this product is out of stock at the moment, especially on special offer. I would gladly purchase in future and consider other products in the range.weloveocado!
I have tried tanning in tanning beds but I do not tan very well and I do not like the spray tans. They stain my feet too bad. I have also tried many different sunless lotions and some were okay but nothing I really wanted to continue using. A friend recommended this lotion so I thought I would give it a try. It is wonderful! It smells bad at first but the smell quickly fades. I love that the color of the lotion is really dark. This helps with rubbing it in really well so you can see where you missed or where you left too much. I also like that you can use a baby wipe to wipe an area you didn't mean to get the lotion on. The coloring the next morning is wonderful. It's definitely not orange looking (at least on me). It's a more deep golden tan. It's hard to describe but I am loving it. I can even put this on my feet and it doesn't stain or splotch up the ankle area. Great stuff!!!cashley1016

I bought this dark mousse a couple of days ago after having used St Tropez, St Moritz and Bondi Sands for years. Skinny tan is really hyped up, particularly on social media at the moment so I thought I'd give it a go. The only positive I can think of is it lovely coconut smell. The colour guide is not as strong as other self tanners so not as easy to see coverage. I applied it with a mit like I do all my other tanners after moisturizing drier areas – knees elbows etc. I found it takes quite a while for it to feel dry. It's pretty sticky. I left it on overnight, so a good 8 hours. All these claims that it leaves a beautiful, realistic golden colour and doesn't streak.?…. Oh my word! The tan has not taken particularly well, the only parts with any real colour were the streaks I had all over. and I have to say, it wasn't a realistic colour at all, it was very yellowy orange. So glad I didn't pay full price for this. Certainly isn't something I will buy again or recommend. I have to say, having used many self tans over the years, it may be at the cheaper ends but St Moritz is definitely the one I will always return to. A lovely deep dark tan with absolutely no streaks. I have tried many many self tanners and I can honestly say this is the best I have come across so far. Will you be skinnier? I doubt it. Will you look skinnier? Definitely! It goes on easily, dried almost instantly and I seemed to use less than I usually do, although on that point I also did two layers and could easily have done 3 to get the colour I wanted so that makes it 3 times the price and it's only downfall that I can see. Even so I would still happily pay that to get a lovely even tan with a great colour and NO OVERPOWERING SMELL! Even if it's just coconut it's usually like your swimming in it. They all say they smell great and they all lie!.Everyone except Skinny Tan. The smell of this is very faint and quite nice. It is the only one I'd put on and walk straight out the door with. I got this on special but I will happily pay full price. So far it has hardly faded at all so I can't comment on how long it will last. I rushed on here at day five to write a review because I was so impressed, something I would not normally do but when you find something this good you just want to tell everyone.lol. If you've read this far I am guessing you're on the fence about buying this tanner. Save yourself a lot of money and get it. I have tried many others, some very expensive and this is the best. I bought the tan about a month ago as I like to experiment with tans and see which one I absolutely adore the most. I’m a tanaholic and for me there were a few things that lacked. The first thing I noticed was that it dries almost immediately. Some people would love this, however, when rubbing it in, it has to be done quickly or else you’ll end up with streaks and lines from where it adapts to your skin almost instantly. Secondly, it stinks. In comparison to brands such as Isle of paradise or bondi, it really does smell like fake tan. Thirdly, this tan in the shade ‘dark’ is literally dark brown, almost black in colour. It was really difficult trying to match up my foundation and I’m not that pale! Personally I prefer a more bronzed and warmer looking tan. The only good thing about the tan was once washed off, it does not wash off patchy. It washes off eventually and gradually! For the price, I don’t think I would buy it again. It’s okay to have as a backup but I’ve definitely had better tans! – hope this helps xxtanaholic12

This product is more like an actual self tanner rather than a gradual self tanning lotion. In the past I have used Jergens Natural Glow, St. Tropez Watermelon Gradual Tanning Lotion, and more recently Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning milk. I really like Loving Tans ultra dark foaming self tanner so I wanted to try this product next. After showering, exfoliating, and drying off I applied the product to my skin like you would a lotion. When I woke up the next morning I was like 12 shades deeper!! Which was fine and it looked nice except I didn't pay meticulous attention to my feet, ankles, or knees because I wasn't expecting such a dark payoff so quickly. The tops of my feet and my ankles looked hilarious but everywhere else was a nice deep, golden, hydrated looking tan. I didn't even have to re-apply the product to achieve the desired effect. Next time I will use the lotion more sparingly to have better control over how deep it develops. I would definitely recommend this lotion to more experienced tanners but keep in mind that a little really does go a long way.Nrsmarkie
I love this tan. I dislike the patches that cling to my knees and elbows no matter what tips I follow using mousse and how many YouTube videos I watch to avoid them. This tan is amazing if you want to avoid that. I still moisturise my knees and elbows before but it clings far less than any mousse tan. It gives me a great depth of colour and in the winter it looks natural when I am paler. It has a guide colour just like a mousse and developed on my skin overnight, I showered the next day and I was impressed with how natural this looked. You should still use a mitt as this is a strong gradual tan. It wears off your skin so much nicer than any mousse I have tried too: no patches.Emily
This should not be called gradual tan at all. I applied it with my bare hands and did not think much about it. It had a slight tint but overall felt like applying normal body lotion. Overnight this one coat developed into a regular tan comparable with any self tanner I used before. The dark shade of this tan turned into a beautiful golden colour on me. It lasted almost for a week without any further reapplication. The only downside of this product is that it is much harder to scrub it off than a regular self tan and you go through a bottle quite fast.Jane V.

This is easy to apply, lasts a while and fades evenly. I've occasionally had the odd streak but that's only because I didn't blend properly. A lot of products can make me look a bit orange but this doesn't. I don't that you can build up the colour as I haven't tried to do this. I use to give a light colour. I brought this last summer after being told the hydra matte was gone forever, lucky for me my sister had a hydra matte she could not use so i got to finish hers before moving to this hydraessentiel recently. I went to a concession stand in a dept store as needed advice what to change to and lady recommended this. I was dubious when its call hydra for a start. What a badexpensive mistake this was. My skin is awful. It feels clogged and has broken out. Its oily than ever. I used a very small amount as with other products from Clarins. It is also very floraI in smell, which to me is a negative. I’ve been trying out different self tanners and some smell so bad I won’t use them just for that reason. BUT This one actually smells nice! And it’s so moisturizing, I use it mostly on my legs in the summer because they don’t get sun like the rest of me. So this stuff is a must! Even for the pricier side of sunless tanner, it’s worth it. It’s gradual, so I apply after my evening shower, and by morning my legs have a nice tint. Would definitely keep buying this every year!Amanda

This self tanner really works nicely! It smells good. I have used self tanners in the past, but stopped because I felt silly walking around with streaks and it being visibly evident that I used a self tanner. Not this product- no streaks- really it blends in so well! I am fair skinned and this tanner looks fabulous! How to use this self tanner: 1. Shower and exfoliate (if you don't have a scrub you can make one out of bath salts and soap or use a loofah) 2. Apply lotion to rough areas- knees, ankles, and elbows 3. Strip down- and apply – be sure to rub all over (wash hands after about 2 minutes and then continue) 4. Let it dry and relax (***don't continue to rub it while it it working- after 10 minutes of drying let it do it's magic- hands off) 5. Reapply after three hours if you'd like 6. I've been using this self tanner for a few months now (my first time using self tanners) and I havent been happy with the results. It seems like there isn't a change in my color. After reading numerous reviews however, I think I need to start applying it 2-3 times a week until I see some color. I am pretty pale and went with the medium shade but I think I will try a darker shade. I do have to mention, after reading the numerous complaints about the change in your formula, I am confused. One of the selling points for me on this specific self tanner (besides banana boat being a long time traditional product brand for me) is that there is no guide color. I did a lot of research on self tanners and when companies use a guide color it seems to transfer onto absolutely EVERYTHING! I definately dont want that! I'm not a patient person and font have time to stand around sans clothing while my lotion dries! This product has yet to transfer onto any of my clothing, thank you for that! There isn't an unpleasant smell like some tanners have (although I wish this had a coconut scent) and the formula feels light and airy on my ski, huge plus as I cant handle thick, heavy creams. I didn't even know it came with a tint since I just bought it this summer, so I can't comment on the lack of tint to guide the application ( would be nice tho). But I love that it's easy to apply without a lot of mess, it doesn't smell, it moisturizes my skin, has a nice color, and it's so affordable! I first use it on my face all over, then I use Lovingtan or Bondi with a foundation brush to highlight my forehead, cheeks, and along my jawline (especially along the jowls, lol) and bottom of my neck, as if I was applying bronzer. It beautifully contours my face but looks natural. Also, this hides my double chin and jowls, plus let's me look tanned without a lot of makeup…. very natural and pretty. Of course, proceed cautiously at first! But the best thing I like about this product is that I don't get that "suffocating" , heavy and sticky feeling other tanners give me. This is my second Jergens Tanning Mouse that I bought. I first bought the lighter shade as I’m quite pale and new to tanning. I love these products. I apply with a mit. I watched a lot of YouTube videos as well for tips and tricks and application techniques. It is fast drying. I wait probably 15-20 mins to get dressed after applying but it dries in a few minutes. I don’t feel sticky after either. I have never had it rub off dramatically. I was wearing a tight crop top a few hours after and it rubbed off a little bit in the seam. Yea I believe it has a color guide just so you can see where you are applying it. When you first shower 8-12 hrs later, you may see that come off but it leaves color behind on your skin. There is a little scent left over. To me it smells like freshly peeled potatoes! I know that’s odd but it isn’t too strong to me. Overall great product! I enjoy being tan without the sun damage and possible skin cancer!Cjmlsw
I'm not a newbie when it comes to tanning lotions. I am pale or red when it comes to tanning naturally. Anyways, I showered, shaved, exfoliate, add a little lotions to elbows/knees/ankles and applied the the foam with a mitt. Just like I would with any other tanning lotion I ever used. It was easy to see where you applied which I liked. Yet, later that day my legs were uneven tan (same amount of lotion and circular motions) no water or sweat after applying. To describe my outcome is going out to the garden and getting dirt on you.. some areas have dirt while other areas are still untouched. My tan looks hideous and I had to go out and about on mother's day looking horrible. Lesson learned : don't go cheap on a product and don't always trust reviews as I seen it was 4 stars and decided to try it for myself. Just ask a salon what they recommend instead. Very fair skinned! Burn easily! I have tried almost every kind of tanning lotions, oils, foams, always turning orange or having that dark fake look around my ankles, elbows, knees. Tried B. Tan Forever and I am sold!! I have followed the instructions, exfoliating, evenly applying, and faithful keeping my skin moisturized. WOW! I like some of this brands other tanners, so I decided to give this one a try. I put it on and slept through the night. The color was very dark when I woke up, but luckily most of it washed off in the shower to reveal a nice tan. I will never use this tanner again though, because it clung very strangely to my skin and looks super uneven. I’ve been tanning for a long time now and have never had this happen. I was exfoliated beforehand, so there was no dry skin for it to cling to. It’s very strange and really unflattering. I’ll stick with their other tanners.Lilly
I bought this on a whom 2 days ago at my local Walmart. I purchased a mitt to apply the product and I have to say it went on pretty easily I followed the directions by exfoliating 1st as it states on the bottle. I actually stumbled across a exfoliating sponge which was inexpensive and did a great job. I got a little braver by applying it to my face as well !!! The results were pretty amazing. The mousse has a color guard so you can see exactly where you are applying . I did not use cream or moisturizer on my elbows ,knees or heels but if you are really dry I would recommend doing that. I also learned a few tricks by watching u tube videos on how to achieve the best results and by adding a few of the tricks i.e. using a makeup blending brush for the top of my hands and feet really worked out to soften and help the look more soft and more real. The only con is after applying the smell is not pleasant it seems to get a little stronger as it drys but overall not as bad as some of the other products I have used in the past. I would highly recommend doing this at night and use an old sheet to lay on as some will transfer off. 8 hrs later after a good night's sleep wake up rinse not scrub in the shower and boom pretty nice results. I have already recommended this to friends and the price is awesome 9.97 and the mitt which is reusable 5.97 exfoliating sponge 2.97 so 19.00 bucks total and tanned for at least 3 days and if you use a gradual tan moisturizer it can last quite awhile. Ok so I’ve been obsessed with self tanning for about 2 years now and tried so many different kinds & I’ve never been satisfied. Most tanners are super sticky once you apply them, transfer the color all over everything, smell awful, wear off incredibly fast& make you look like you rolled in dirt before taking a shower ( st. Tropez,loving tan,ulta brand, etc.) but this tanner is the HOLY GRAIL of tanners! It literally does none of those things that the other tanners do. Once applied it isn’t sticky & dries quickly! You don’t feel like you just rolled in honey for hours. It also has little to no scent which is a huge plus in my books. I also absolutely love how you can rinse it off and the color continues to develop! Now that I’ve found this brand i will strictly be using this kind. Pretty much everything turns me orange or green for some reason. My skin is fair and I used every single self tanner known to man. I love the smell of self tanners so that was never an issue. It’s making me brown not orange or green, I hate when that happens to me. Anyway I tried this one, just to try it out because I try all the minetans and this is my favorite and only one I can use. It makes me so brown I get so many compliments, it’s the only one that works on my skin. I have used ridiculousy expensive tanners, I have spray tans at a tanning salon, I love the Tanning salon but I can never get there. So this one is the only that works on me like my spray tans do. Like heck this is a "gradual" tan. I got this brand because it seemed the most mild and gradual, would only apply a very small amount of tint each application, and that I would just very slowly start to see results to ensure that I could be streak free and natural looking. Let me tell you – I blended ultra thoroughly, waited 10 minutes to dry, and now my arms look like a watercolor painting. Maybe I blended too thoroughly and it made the tinting agent clump or something? I'll see if I can dilute it for a more even application…Courtney
I would not recommend this product to anyone with sensitive skin. Please do the skin test before applying all over and wait up to 48 hours before washing off. I used this all over and now I have hives from head to toe after 24 hours. I'm on 2 different antihistamines and I had a steroid shot this morning. I also have 2 steroid prescriptions, one oral and one topical. The nurse said that I may have to go back for another steroid injection in two days. This is so bad, please do the skin test.
Aside from the hives, the results were orange and streaky. Once I showered I was pale again. You should look elsewhere if you are looking for a long lasting natural looking even bronzed skin tone.Lynnea Massey
Grabbed this off the shelf at my local pharmacy. I tried to like this product I really did. This is a very thick formula It took a lot of effort to work it into the skin, mind you I have extremely dry skin that absorbs everything …except for this. The smell wasn't too unpleasant and I haven't noticed any staining on my clothing. After applying the product it took some time to dry down and when it did It was sticky for quite a while. The end result was very streaky and artificial looking, very orange on my already tan skin especially in the daylight. I also noticed that it made the bottom portion of my legs look very splotchy accentuating the razor stubble, I have tried it on freshly shaved legs with the same result.. Is it buildable? Yes. But the question is, do you really want to build on an already orange looking tan? There are much better sunless tanning products out there, (Please see my other review for L'Oreal). I will not repurchase this. I have always enjoyed Neutrogena products but this one is a swing and a mess I mean miss. Save your money!jackie.c

I think they over thought it just a bit because it has a funk smell to it. I would've assumed it's just the ingredients, but it does say there's fragrance. It smells what I can only compare to the smell of natural coconut oil. It's ok, but not a smell I'd deliberately want. I love that it's clear! I am very impatient, and need SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE so not having to wash it off(even though you can and it says to) is amazing. Also, no matter what I do, ill get random pores on my face and chest that clog with the tinted mousses(even if I rinse them off like a normal person). That said, I obviously wouldn't recommend this to anyone being a first-time self-tanner just because you want to have your application routine pretty accurate so you dont miss a spot. The color I got from it compared to the "9 minute nobody got time for that." Not dark, but natural. My fingers are crossed for a darker one of this that would compare to my other favorite from here, "I want the darkest possible." Thank you b.tan!Beth
I’m very pale and this tanner did give my sick a nice natural glow. I really like the color it gave me, not too dark but definitely tan, something I haven’t been able to find in other self tanners (the others I’ve tried are either too dark or too light) the downside is there is an unpleasant smell while you wait for it to develop. More potent than other brands I’ve tried. Also felt like it took awhile to dry. I still have a nice color a week later so it’s long lasting. My skin is slightly dryer than normal but nothing that can’t be fixed with a little evening lotion. I will continue to use until I finish the bottle but not sure if I will purchase againRachel W.
This self tanner is the most natural I've ever gotten, besides St.Tropez gel bronzer. it has a very nice scent to it, and and leaves you with a very nice natural looking glow-y tan. it is a bit difficult to see where you've applied it, but it does leave your skin with a nice wet sheen where its been applied. I just work in small sections, going over each section twice (second time with no additional product) to ensure I've gotten all spots. I applied this on Tuesday, and now it is the following Monday and I still have a beautiful "been in the sun" tan. The BEST part is that it doesn't stain your sheets! since it is a clear liquid to foam. my feet, knees, elbows and hands don't look weird "oh, look at her, she fake tanned last night tee, hee". this is going to be my new go to tanner!believeinanything

No streaks, blends well, beautiful color. I love the tanning foam one hour express. If you aren’t an experienced self tanner/ pro at your application, get the foam over the aero. It dries, but not as quickly as the aero so it gives you more time to apply and blend. I love how a little tan foam goes far and how buildable the tan is. I’m fair so I look my most natural golden tan with one coat. For beach days I have done two coats and you do get noticeably more tan!! While you can rinse the product after 1-3 hours, your tan will still take 6-8 hours to fully develop on your skin. I’ve slept in the foam 1 hour express and I’ve also rinsed it at the 2-3 hour mark and you get the same color so I really like having the option to rinse the tan before bed if I choose or to just fall asleep knowing my results will both look great. Apply tan to top of hands last and rinse hands at about 30-45 minutes if you plan to leave the tan on for 2-3+ hours. That’s worked for me to get the color balanced and blended with my arm color since hands absorb the color so quickly. The tan fades so well!! I get 4 great days before fading begins and can stretch it 7 if I incorporate the gradual tanning milk. I apply the tanning milk with the tanning mitt to keep my palms from the tan and it works great. And most importantly the one hour foam express doesn’t have a funny smell that lingers with you for days after!!Rachael C.
I have been using fake tan for years. I am naturally fair skinned and my go to fave has always been the Bondi Sands Ultra Dark mousse. I only tried the Ultra Dark foam because the mousse was sold out and the foam was on offer, so thought I’d give it a whirl. I’m such a fan of Bondi Sands Ultra Dark foam (and mousse) Compared to other brands, it creates a deeper looking tan (no orange!) and it wears off evenly, which I really like. No patchy knees or ankles. Compared to the mousse, the foam dries a lot quicker. I like that too. No sticky feeling, it absorbs really well. There’s also less transfer onto clothes / bedsheets, before that morning shower. The only thing I have found (and this is simply user error, not a complaint!) is that I create a ball of foam to rub on myself, but as I rub it onto my skin the foam ball sometimes drops onto my carpet. I’ve applied the tan on two occasions and now have 4 splodges of tan to scrub out of my carpet. So maybe do smaller squirts of foam? For me though, this is the best tan out there at the moment and it’s not even that pricey compared to some of them.Lois
I don't really need any help in the suntan department as I have an olive complexion and tan very easily with little to no sunburn . However, I don't always have time to sunbathe and it's not particularly enjoyable during the summer months because it's JUST. SO. HOT!!! So, when I found this product, I was ecstatic. It's like a mouse so it goes on silky smooth . When I purchased my first can of this product, it came with a mitt for easy, even application. I apply it after a shower , allow it to dry before getting dressed, then go about my day finishing up household chores or scrolling through my instagram feed . Then, after about an hour , I rinse off quickly and glow. It has never left streaks or uneven splotches on my skin . It makes my skin soft and supple and it looks marvelous! I only reapply very few days and I've received lots of compliments on my tan ever since I started using this product!Liz
