A lot of products can make me look a bit orange but this doesn't. I don't that you can build up the colour as I haven't tried to do this. I use to give a light colour. I brought this last summer after being told the hydra matte was gone forever, lucky for me my sister had a hydra matte she could not use so i got to finish hers before moving to this hydraessentiel recently. This tanning cream is definitely my most favorite out of all my tanners! I wouldn’t say this is “tanner smell” free but it definitely is less pungent than a classic foam tanner. Something to keep in mind, as described, this is a GRADUAL tanning cream! Do not expect to put this on once then wake up extremely dark. I would say after two applications you start to notice a nice bronze color! The only con I will have to say is I feel like this tan does not last long at all. I feel like once I take the first shower, it’s already time to re-apply the cream because it faded so much in just one wash. I was hesitant at first about this tanning lotion since this was the first product from this line, but after using the lotion on multiple different occasions throughout the year, I can honestly say this lotion is truly the best out there. This product really does give you a nice yet subtle tan without the hassle of a mousse or tanning mitts. It does not leave you with an orange-y tint either which is what I was initially afraid of when first applying the product since so many other lotions on the market today end up turning you too “fake” looking and streaky, but i can honestly say this lotion does the opposite which is so REFRESHING to see. My only complaint is the after smell: Initially the Sandalwood smell is pleasant when first applied onto the skin, but after a couple of days, I do notice that the tan starts smelling like your typical “tanning lotion” which I was hoping wouldn’t happen with this formula! I am a self-tan addict and I have tried many, many brands and product types over many years! I have high standards for how my tan looks and I hope my review is helpful! The body product is overall very nice but the price is less impressive when you realize how quickly you go through the bottle. The face lotion is nice too, but I'm not blown away and I don't like that it makes my face sweat profusely after application. The good: color result is beautiful and lasts a long time when compared to other brands (I swam in non-chlorinated water and it wore very well), non-streaking, no color guide is nice because it doesn't transfer onto fabrics, and it looks very natural. The bad: the product would only be a good price if there was double the fluid ounces in each bottle – I went through the entire bottle in only 2-3 applications and that was very disappointing (I'm not a large person). It does start to get splotchy on hands, between breasts, and elbow/knee ditches after a few days but I've never found a product that does not do that (I believe because skin cells naturally shed). I won't be buying the face lotion again but I will repurchase the body lotion. I will, however, continue looking for a product that is better because I'm not convinced that this is the best out there. I, like many of you I'm guessing, have tried numerous self tanners. After a skin cancer scare a few years ago, I'm much more diligent about protecting myself from the sun but also love that tan glow. I bought the face tanning serum and the dark body tanning lotion. I have tried drugstore brands, Rodan & Fields, Beauty by Earth, Isle of Paradise, St Tropez, etc etc etc. I will say this self tanning lotion is my favorite. I'm still deciding on the face serum, but the lotion is a natural glow with less of an odor than others I have tried. I like that the face serum contains ingredients that actually help fine lines and wrinkles. I like that the body lotion isn't thick or "gooey" feeling and dries quickly. It doesn't stain clothes. I have ridiculously pale skin. I am like a ghost. I am practically transparent like a deep sea fish. I don’t like tanning beds because I don’t want wrinkles. So rather than look like a starving Victorian child, I’ve used this in the past and I purchased it again last week. 1) be sure you wash your hands after you apply it or your nails will look orange af. 2) the dirty-sock smell only lasts a couple hours. 3) wait until the lotion dries before putting on clothing. It smells great upon initial application. My boyfriend kept commenting on it from across the room. He was very happy to make sure I got an even coat on the back of my body. However, after about an hour or so, I thought I was getting phantom dirty-sock smell. My boyfriend and I were driving ourselves crazy before we discovered that it’s the lotion that smelled like a middle school locker room. Perhaps I exaggerate, it wasn’t that bad. Just surprising is all. It ended up smelling just fine after a few hours. We suspect there are some chemical changes that effect the smell while the color itself develops. Otherwise, I love this product and it’s given me a very natural color. Hardly noticeable. Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer is great if you want a nice wash of healthy color without the sun and want hydrated skin. I do recommend exfoliating before applying, especially the elbows. Knees and heels, and washing your hands after. I saw results after one or two uses. Make sure you let it dry before getting dressed as it will stain your clothing. Apply it as you would your normal body Moisturizer, make sure you apply it evenly though or your color will be streaky. My only complaint is that if I sweat while wearing it, it gets slimy and the smell, which is normally pleasant, gets a little funky. Other than what I mentioned I think it's a good product, relatively affordable, and easy to find.
I’ve been using self tanner for years. In the past, the other Brand’s 1 hour tanner I had used required a lot of technique to look natural without streaks or dark patches. I had to work quickly and used regular lotion to dilute the areas that tan darker like the heel or knee area. I had to rub in vigorously, allow at least 15 minutes of drying time and wash the hands as quickly as possible. The process was stressful and I usually worked up a sweat doing it. The worst of it was the horrible smell my skin had as it processed the self tanner. I did this for years and got pretty good at it but finally gave up as I couldn’t handle the smell and the pressure to do everything perfectly for fear of embarrassing splotchy skin.I kept seeing this Jergens and the reviews. I pleased to report the buildable formula is great. I was able to apply it without the pressure for perfection because the results were lighter. As long as I didn’t make the same “mistakes” repeatedly my skin developed a natural looking tan. It’s important to exfoliate every shower to prevent dark spots on old skin but that also means the tan comes off and you have to apply after every shower to keep up your color.The lotion itself has a nice feel and it rubs in smoothly and easily. First, the application is fine, it’s a wet formula and goes on well. The smell however is awful, not just while it’s on, but for 48 hours and two showers later bad. I actually felt the need to apologize to people for how I smelled. My husband said it was disgusting. I have tried about 15 different self tanners for reference so definitely not a newbie. I had to put the color on two days in a row to get a tan, and then even now I’m not very tanned, hence the low rating. Like heck this is a "gradual" tan. I got this brand because it seemed the most mild and gradual, would only apply a very small amount of tint each application, and that I would just very slowly start to see results to ensure that I could be streak free and natural looking. Let me tell you – I blended ultra thoroughly, waited 10 minutes to dry, and now my arms look like a watercolor painting. Maybe I blended too thoroughly and it made the tinting agent clump or something? I'll see if I can dilute it for a more even application…Courtney
I would not recommend this product to anyone with sensitive skin. Please do the skin test before applying all over and wait up to 48 hours before washing off. I used this all over and now I have hives from head to toe after 24 hours. I'm on 2 different antihistamines and I had a steroid shot this morning. I also have 2 steroid prescriptions, one oral and one topical. The nurse said that I may have to go back for another steroid injection in two days. This is so bad, please do the skin test.
Aside from the hives, the results were orange and streaky. Once I showered I was pale again. You should look elsewhere if you are looking for a long lasting natural looking even bronzed skin tone.Lynnea Massey
Grabbed this off the shelf at my local pharmacy. I tried to like this product I really did. This is a very thick formula It took a lot of effort to work it into the skin, mind you I have extremely dry skin that absorbs everything …except for this. The smell wasn't too unpleasant and I haven't noticed any staining on my clothing. After applying the product it took some time to dry down and when it did It was sticky for quite a while. The end result was very streaky and artificial looking, very orange on my already tan skin especially in the daylight. I also noticed that it made the bottom portion of my legs look very splotchy accentuating the razor stubble, I have tried it on freshly shaved legs with the same result.. Is it buildable? Yes. But the question is, do you really want to build on an already orange looking tan? There are much better sunless tanning products out there, (Please see my other review for L'Oreal). I will not repurchase this. I have always enjoyed Neutrogena products but this one is a swing and a mess I mean miss. Save your money!jackie.c

I really like the gradual self tanner. It’s goes on easily, has a natural color, smells good, and is very forgiving. Regular self tanner, you have one chance to get it right and if it’s wrong you’re gonna be really sorry. Extremely impressed by this product. I've been using different brands of self-tanners for years. They always did the “job†but they all smelt like harsh chemicals after application. Kora's product not only smells delightful (like essential oils) but also works! I'm fair skinned. I only applied this product one time so far. My skin is golden! I love this product for its clean beauty and the light even normal non orange color it produced . I am pleasantly suprised. I don’t lay out in sun, my skin naturally becomes tan in late spring summer just walking my dog. I bought this to use for arms and legs before bathing suit season starts . Ease of use, no transfer , it drys in a few minutes and on first application it was very light . You shoukd exfoliate day before use and the best results . I did this and did a light spray on my arms and lower legs and chest. I wear my nails manicured and I even put on hands with a makeup sponge. Perfect.. just don’t keep spraying I find you spray in your hands and spread on fronts and backs of arms and legs . I wash my hands with a loofa type sponge so my palms are not orangey. If you use this and take your time , the results are so much better than other colored self tanners. I def recommend if you want some light sun kissed skin with capris and shirtsleeves try it. I have used the drops before but I like this for my face also. I spray with a headband on and spread with clean blending sponge, let dry and serum eyecreme moisturizer etc. it looks very natural and I only use an eye brightener and tinted sunscreen , look tan and no base needed for myself. I have really pale skin and self tanning lotions or sprays have never looked good on me. Needless to say I didn't have very high hopes for these drops, but I am surprised to say I was proved wrong! These are a great choice for someone who has trouble getting an even look that doesn't look too orangey. Even though the bottle isn't very big it lasts quite a while. I found going conservative keeps you looking much more natural and gives the sun kissed look without an unnatural orangey appearance. If you use too much you may end up with the dreaded orange look. It's really easy to apply-just add a few drops to your normal body lotion or facial lotion and mix it up and apply like usual. For an even look I'd highly suggest to exfoliate properly beforehand, but even if you don't it applies pretty well and looks good when it's absorbed. The only downside to this product is that the tan doesn't seem to last a long time. It's there for about 3 days or so and then it's time to reapply. But because it's so easy to apply it's not too much of a hindrance. I also did have a slight amount of acne that popped up after use-although it may have just been my face reacting to a new product and it has since subsided just fine. Overall I'm happy with the product and will continue using it and will repurchase it.snarkshark
This is a great product! I got the exact tan I wanted, and it was simple enough to add to my lotion after my shower. It does have that typical fake-tanner smell, which I don't mind. It's not overwhelming, and it fades in a couple hours. Don't be convinced by the people who say this product streaks; that's just user error, and they don't know how to apply it properly. After showering and exfoliating my body, I used rubber gloves to apply it so my hands didn't stain. I squirt some lotion onto my finger, put about 5 drops (per area on my body) into my palm, then took my free hand to mix them together, and finally applied to each area just like I'm putting lotion on. No streaks, no patches, just a flawless, beautiful golden tan. This product does everything it claims, when used properly. BACKGROUND: Having said all that, I am not a fake-tanner. I don't have a lot of experience with it, I've never even been to a tanning salon (I'm 30). The most experience I have with fake tanning is a bottle of Jergen's natural glow I used at least ten years ago. I prefer the natural tan I get from being outdoors. However, I haven't had time to get outside as much as I'd like lately, and I've been craving that beautiful sun-kissed look. (Although, self tanner is just as harmful to your body as a sun tan due to the DHA or erythrulose in it, if not worse since you're not getting any vitamin D, in fact, it's depleting your body of the vital nutrient. i like this product. its the first one ive ever used. i applied it at night and by the morning the glitter was gone. there are a few places where it rubbed off so i need to be nore careful next time. also i probably wont put any on my feet next time. i used a makeup brush and that still wasnt a good idea. everywhere i used a mitt looks pretty good though. it is quite dark against my fair skin so for sure should have went down to light maybe but overall not bad. not a fan of the sticky ness while its drying but easy to get over when you just expect it. it didnt stay sticky. i do wish it dried a little faster. its very hard to get off though so while thats probably mostly a good thing.. its harder to get rid of mistakes.alucas
I'm so glad I found this at Walmart. I used this a couple yrs ago and loved it but have been unable to find it at the other drug store I shop at. The application is hard to mess up and if you exfoliate with both a scrub and a glove, it goes on so well and leaves an even glowy color to my skin. I use a cheap application glove to apply it. I've used soooo many sunless tanners and I am sick of the streaking ( mousse is notorious for streaking). I don't get the bad reviews on it being 'watery', mine is a thicker gel- like consistency. And this stuff is only $10. I would say this is Loreal's best product.KrisAz
If I could give this zero stars I would. I was excited to get this in the mail and try it I ordered it off Walmart.com. First of all I’m a pretty pale skinned person so I was looking for a little summer color without sitting in the sun all the time. This product does give pretty nice color I will give it that. I have no idea how this product has a majority of good reviews, in the instructions it says to wait until it dries before you get dressed and it literally takes so long to dry and while you’re waiting for it to dry you feel grossly sticky. The people that left these good reviews maybe they don’t mind feeling sticky, who knows. I hope I help someone else out before buying this product because it is a no go. I cannot sit around my house basically naked waiting for this stuff to take it’s good old time to dry and feel super sticky. I tried to stick it out for the second night but I couldn’t take it anymore I got in the shower and washed it all off. Please read this review before you buy this self tanner. If you have fair skin like me and want a natural looking tan, this is the product for you. If you want a super dark tan, this is not for you. There is a green tinted guide color in the mousse to help you apply evenly so you will look extra dark and streaky until you rinse off in the shower. Once it washes off it's obviously lighter but more natural looking. Then it gets a little darker over the next 8 hours or so. The people complaining about it being streaky when first applying and color washing off in the shower didn't read the description on the bottle because it's supposed to do that. Also yes, I agree it is sticky and has a smell until you rinse off but I've never tried a self tanner that doesn't have that. I put on loose clothes after a couple mins despite the stickiness and have never had issues with transfer. I always apply it when I plan to not leave the house for a few hours. I've tried a lot of self tanners and have stuck to this one for the last year because it's the easiest to apply (because of the guide color), has the best end result color (not orange), and I like that I only have to have it on for 3 hours. I apply once a week and the big bottle lasts me over 2 months.Ali429
The self-tanner itself is a fantastic product. Beautiful and easy to blend. And simple to put on. The smell is passable-neither its fantastic not awful, but it doesn't matter. I have really sensitive skin and its gentle on it. Neither a burning not itchy sensation. Didnt produce any inflammation or pain. The tan has a nice, silky mousse consistency. Sharp lines are simple to perceive, and you can tell where you have applied it. Many additional tanning treatments,including ad moisturizers, make it difficult to detect where you have applied them, preventing the formation of sharp lines once you have browned. You have varied time restrictions while using self-tanner depending on the shade you want. If your skin is very fair, one hour will give you a faint tan. It takes 2 hours to achieve a lovely medium look, and three hours to achieve your distinctive look if you have dark skin. Other then that, the self-tanner is a simple and quick product. I first tried St Tropez about 15 years ago when self tanning at home started to trend more, it was the best then and it's the best now. I've tried all the major brands over the years, the expensive £30 ones and the cheap £5 ones and none of them compare to the OG – St Tropez. The formula is so silky it simply glides onto your skin and blends so well with a mitt, it really is fool proof. It smells nice as you apply, it's not overwhelmingly fragranced. I won't deny there is the tell tale fake tan smell as it develops but I just think whatever brand and whatever the packaging boasts you cannot get away from the smell, however with the St Tropez it isn't as strong. I leave it on overnight as I like a darker tan which this achieves without looking orange. It develops to suit my skin tone. It fades pretty evenly without going patchy, but you often get a build up in the creases of your body, again that's the same with all tan so I often scrub these areas a bit harder of loosen with a body oil. I have been using Self tanner for over 30 years. Usually I use a VERY HIGH END Dept store brand. Ive tried other brands over the years, but never got the results that I loved from my "high end brand". Recently, noticed the Bondi Sands line at our Walgreens. Decided to give the line a try. I bought the Dark Self Tanning Lotion, the Exfoliant and the Tanning Mitt. Wow!!!! Was I BLOWN AWAY by these products and results. The lotion is dark out of the tube, like Chocolate pudding! Making it not only rich and creamy, but easy to see where I was applying.\nI used the exfoliant first, of course , and loved it as well.\nNot OVERLY ABRASIVE OR "SCRATCHY" to the skin. Just a nice, light paste to prep your skin for tanning.\nMy results were the BEST LOOKING self tan I have EVER HAD! I am nearly 60 and love the healthy look of a tan, but I burn far too easily in the sun and it can be very damaging for the skin.\nBondi Sands, you have a Customer for life!! I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! I love Bondi Sands. Fantastic application. I am half Greek and have always tasted easy. I am an archaeologist, geologist and paleontologist. So for years have worked outdoors. Like my Dad I have a love of the sun. However, I try to be careful and supplement my natural tan with color from your products. As I age, unfortunately, I see sun damage, loss of pigment or white spots. Your products keep me looking good and feeling good and camouflage my flaws. Best results I've had from a self tanner. I've always hated the foam versions because they're extremely sticky & you have to sit like still otherwise it'll streak. This product is cream based so it's very minimally sticky, smells nice, and easy to apply. I exfoliated then applied once out of the shower, then a second later 30 min after as suggested on directions. Went to bed and woke up with the PERFECT tan. Get the ultra dark version. I didn't use gloves as suggested, and woke up with very black hands but it washed away easily with a little scrubbing in the shower. You gotta try this bestiesTabby

This self tanner really works nicely! It smells good. I have used self tanners in the past, but stopped because I felt silly walking around with streaks and it being visibly evident that I used a self tanner. Not this product- no streaks- really it blends in so well! I am fair skinned and this tanner looks fabulous! How to use this self tanner: 1. Shower and exfoliate (if you don't have a scrub you can make one out of bath salts and soap or use a loofah) 2. Apply lotion to rough areas- knees, ankles, and elbows 3. Strip down- and apply – be sure to rub all over (wash hands after about 2 minutes and then continue) 4. Let it dry and relax (***don't continue to rub it while it it working- after 10 minutes of drying let it do it's magic- hands off) 5. Reapply after three hours if you'd like 6. All done… now you look great! Try not to get sunburnt- it will peel off if you do. You will see how it bends quite naturally into the areas that you didn't tan. I've been using this self tanner for a few months now (my first time using self tanners) and I havent been happy with the results. It seems like there isn't a change in my color. After reading numerous reviews however, I think I need to start applying it 2-3 times a week until I see some color. I am pretty pale and went with the medium shade but I think I will try a darker shade. I do have to mention, after reading the numerous complaints about the change in your formula, I am confused. One of the selling points for me on this specific self tanner (besides banana boat being a long time traditional product brand for me) is that there is no guide color. I did a lot of research on self tanners and when companies use a guide color it seems to transfer onto absolutely EVERYTHING! I definately dont want that! I'm not a patient person and font have time to stand around sans clothing while my lotion dries! This product has yet to transfer onto any of my clothing, thank you for that! There isn't an unpleasant smell like some tanners have (although I wish this had a coconut scent) and the formula feels light and airy on my ski, huge plus as I cant handle thick, heavy creams. I didn't even know it came with a tint since I just bought it this summer, so I can't comment on the lack of tint to guide the application ( would be nice tho). But I love that it's easy to apply without a lot of mess, it doesn't smell, it moisturizes my skin, has a nice color, and it's so affordable! I first use it on my face all over, then I use Lovingtan or Bondi with a foundation brush to highlight my forehead, cheeks, and along my jawline (especially along the jowls, lol) and bottom of my neck, as if I was applying bronzer. It beautifully contours my face but looks natural. Also, this hides my double chin and jowls, plus let's me look tanned without a lot of makeup…. very natural and pretty. Of course, proceed cautiously at first! But the best thing I like about this product is that I don't get that "suffocating" , heavy and sticky feeling other tanners give me. This product smells pretty good! It dries nicely doesn't stain anything and isn't sticky at all which is amazing! The formula is really nice and creamy and lightweight and so easy to blend in and it leaves your skin SUPER soft! The softness it left me felt so amazing and velvetty soft which makes this 10 times better! This doesn't work instantly and has no color gaurd so I suggest putting it on and leaving it on overnight. You should atleast wait 8 hours to shower but you can keep it on as long as you want! It's just like lotion and you don't even realize your wearing it. After one use I got a pretty nice even glow! It really looks pretty flawless and the color on me is golden based! It looks more natural than most other self tanners for sure and not streaky! For a deeper color just use it again the next night and sleep in it! That will deepen it up and you can actually use it a 3rd day for even more darkness but although it says daily use I wouldn't do that or you can get pretty cakey and it won't fade too well I would use it 1-3 times in a row then let the color fade over a week or so time before using it again! It's really nice! I do love it !! the only thing I don't love is the price point is too high for the amount of product and it takes alot of product to achieve nice dark color results so you go through it super quick and I'm a small petite person! If your using this just to boost your other self tan or for your face or just to boost certain areas after using another self tanner first all over and this just as a little boost it would last longer than using it over your entire body multiple times . I think this is a really great self Tanner -it won't get you super dark though unless you use it 2-3 times in a row but if your just looking for a nice natural glow this would be perfect!! I must admit I was a bit disappointed with this product. I had high expectations. But it turned my hands orange so now I use latex gloves. The package did not warn of this. And the product collected around my feet to make it look unnatural. And the tan look fades quickly. The smell is great and the texture is good and I love the packaging. This is a really great tanning lotion! The color looks very natural on me and I was careful to get it evenly distributed and didn't end up with any obvious stopping points. It does have a tiny bit of that typical tanning lotion smell, but *very* little and overall a nice fragrance. I put it on at night, let it dry 15 minutes or so before clothing, (perfect to do while I go through my other skin care regimen) then wake up with a nice glow! I literally found this product because I google searched top non toxic self tanners and this was #1. Your skin absorbs everything so it’s important not to constantly saturate it with chemicals and all that nasty stuff. It definitely smells good when you first put it on, but after a while it starts to have that fake tanner smell. I appreciate that it’s a lotion type texture not that oily type, and I was able to use my hands to apply. It only made my slightly tanner, so I will definitely need to add more coats, definitely nothing dramatic happening after one coat. I appreciate that there are no parabens and it is one of the more natural, non toxic self tanners out there which is why I bought it in the first place. I will very likely be buying this product again and trying some of their other non toxic products. They give you two free samples to try as well which I appreciate. Given the extremely positive reviews of this product, I thought I had found the Holy Grail of self-tanners. Alas, it was not so. The pros: I love that the product is natural. It has a pleasant smell, hasn't transferred to my clothes, and I don't need a mitt to apply it. The cons: the actual tan is very minimal and washes off in a day or two if I don't reapply. It is also prone to some streaking. I'm pale and am looking for a tanner that has more depth. The look of this tanner is more like I got some sun for a day. This self tanner is the best I’ve ever used. The color is very natural, not orange or blotchy. It also isn’t streaky when it fades. I add it to my body lotion to get a flawless application. I really think the lotion helps from getting any demarcation lines, especially around your knees, elbows or ankles. There is also no self tanner smell and it doesn’t rub off on ur clothes or sheets. Starting with application this was easy to apply and use. And I followed step by step instructions and it came out looking pretty amazing. I was in love with it. So couple days in looking great I even thought for sure this was definitely something I would be using all the time and thats when it went downhill. It started turning this yellowish tone and started getting patchy in certain spots. So with the patchiness I thought for sure it was going away but nope, it stayed. I really enjoyed using b.tan and overall it was a very simple process and I love that it wasn't messy at all. The mitt helped so much and I don't know what I would have done without it. There was no blotchiness or streaks on my legs at all, which was a nice surprise. I will definitely say my legs felt smooth and hydrated too. I love that there was no strong scent like so many others I've tried. And the best part my legs had a natural looking tan, not that icky orange color, so that was a relief. I honestly really like this tanner , much more than others I have used before. The only thing is I wish it was darker on my first treatment, because I couldn't tell much of a difference. No doubt, after a long winter I am definitely pasty. I really needed something to get a little color on my legs. I have tried a variety of different products over the years with varied results. What I really love about this products is that the mitt really does a great job of applying the color evenly. So much better than if you tried to apply this with your hands. My very favorite thing about application is that when you apply- you can see where you have put the product. I hate when you apply tanners that are lotion like and you can't see where you have already put it or if you need to apply more. The foam is easy to put on an dries pretty quickly, which is nice because it needs to sit on for an hour. The smell is pretty typical for a self tanner, but you shower after so it doesn't stick around. The color it leaves is perfect, not to orange and it's very buildable. My only complaint is that you need to start with clean, exfoliated skin- but then you wash it off after. So you really need to shower twice ideally, kind of a pain.jkholeman

Honestly, I don't understand how some people do not like this self tanner. It is THE best color and doesn't streak for me. People, USE the mitt, do not try and apply this with gloves or bare hands. As long as you shower, exfoliate and apply this to completely dry skin you will not have any issues. I am olive toned complexion so the color guard works better for me than most. Try a little bit at a time and really learn to buff with the mitt. Overall, I always come back to fake bake. I received this product to review. I was very nervous about using a Fake Bake after an awful result many years ago with a different self-tan branded product and yuk the smell! I took the plunge and tried Fake Bake on my legs using the gloves provided. There was a guide colour but this faded after a while so I wasn?t sure if I had applied it properly. After a few hours, I was delighted to see a very natural light tan. The smell wasn?t too bad and easily washes away. Now I have seen the results, I will be trying more to deepen the colour. I have tried tanning in tanning beds but I do not tan very well and I do not like the spray tans. They stain my feet too bad. I have also tried many different sunless lotions and some were okay but nothing I really wanted to continue using. A friend recommended this lotion so I thought I would give it a try. It is wonderful! It smells bad at first but the smell quickly fades. I love that the color of the lotion is really dark. This helps with rubbing it in really well so you can see where you missed or where you left too much. I also like that you can use a baby wipe to wipe an area you didn't mean to get the lotion on. The coloring the next morning is wonderful. It's definitely not orange looking (at least on me). It's a more deep golden tan. It's hard to describe but I am loving it. I have a VERY light complection so the sun and I are not compatible. I wear shorts and my legs glow in the dark so I really like to use a sunless tanner. I've tried all different kinds of sunless tanners and orange is not my color. This tanner does not leave me orange and I've even got compliments on it from good friends that aren't afraid to tell me like it is. Lol. You HAVE to exfoliate your skin before using ANY sunless tanner or you will have streaks. I followed the directions and used latex gloves for application. A small amount goes a long ways. It takes two to three applications to get the darkness I want. (Light to medium darkness) and then a small amount after showers to maintain it. I received this #freeproduct "Jergens Natural Glow Sunless Tanner in Deep Bronze" from #topbox in exchange for my honest opinion. Even though I am fair skinned and not really into tanning, I have to say that this actually gave my skin a flawless, healthy and glowy look which definitely looked really sunkissed. Firstly I did a test on my leg to see how it would look and I was actually really surprised by how lovely the finished product looked on me when applied in full on both legs. The scent of this cream definitely had a lovely scent which was not overpowering at all. Thankfully I did not experience any discomfort or irritation on my skin. I have never used a tanning moisturizer/bronzer before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I received the Jergens natural glow in deep bronze for free from #trywithtopbox #freeproduct and here is my honest option after trying this product out. I used the product on my legs only because I was really curious to see how the deep bronze color would look and also because my legs haven't seen the sun in many months! I tried it out on one leg and at first I used just a teaspoon amount thinking it was enough but it wasn't. I used about 2-3 tablespoon of the bronzer on just half a leg. What I liked was that it was fairly easy to smooth it into the leg and there was no streaking, it had a pleasant smell and the color payoff was noticeable, there was a vast difference between the non tanned leg vs the leg that the bronzer was applied on. The drying time is quick and the color didn't transfer to my clothes. The next morning I did notice the color had gotten darker on my legs and taking a shower didn't remove the bronzer at all. I like the even coverage this self tanner gives, just make sure you rub it into your skin well and evenly. It does look darker on my feet where I have thicker skin. So make sure you go lightly on your feet and exfoliate them often. I noticed the color within days. I like the fact that it also has sunscreen of SPF 30 to protect my skin. The only thing I would like is that it would be more moisturizing. It would be nice to have some type of skin oil or extra moisture in it.Sadie
Let me preface this by saying that I am very fair-skinned and was a bit nervous about trying a sunless tanning product. I've tried some in the past that left me looking like an Oompa Loompa but I am happy to say that this one did not! The first thing you notice about this lotion is the incredible smell. It has a strong fruity melon kind of smell that I really like but if you are sensitive to fragrance, I would try something different. It goes on thick and creamy much like a typical sunscreen so be sure to rub it in really well to ensure even coverage. I found that putting some regular moisturizer on rough patches like elbows and knees first helped keep those areas from being darker. This product is more like an actual self tanner rather than a gradual self tanning lotion. In the past I have used Jergens Natural Glow, St. Tropez Watermelon Gradual Tanning Lotion, and more recently Bondi Sands Gradual Tanning milk. I really like Loving Tans ultra dark foaming self tanner so I wanted to try this product next. After showering, exfoliating, and drying off I applied the product to my skin like you would a lotion. When I woke up the next morning I was like 12 shades deeper!! Which was fine and it looked nice except I didn't pay meticulous attention to my feet, ankles, or knees because I wasn't expecting such a dark payoff so quickly. The tops of my feet and my ankles looked hilarious but everywhere else was a nice deep, golden, hydrated looking tan. I didn't even have to re-apply the product to achieve the desired effect. Next time I will use the lotion more sparingly to have better control over how deep it develops. I would definitely recommend this lotion to more experienced tanners but keep in mind that a little really does go a long way.Nrsmarkie
I love this tan. I dislike the patches that cling to my knees and elbows no matter what tips I follow using mousse and how many YouTube videos I watch to avoid them. This tan is amazing if you want to avoid that. I still moisturise my knees and elbows before but it clings far less than any mousse tan. It gives me a great depth of colour and in the winter it looks natural when I am paler. It has a guide colour just like a mousse and developed on my skin overnight, I showered the next day and I was impressed with how natural this looked. You should still use a mitt as this is a strong gradual tan. It wears off your skin so much nicer than any mousse I have tried too: no patches.Emily
This should not be called gradual tan at all. I applied it with my bare hands and did not think much about it. It had a slight tint but overall felt like applying normal body lotion. Overnight this one coat developed into a regular tan comparable with any self tanner I used before. The dark shade of this tan turned into a beautiful golden colour on me. It lasted almost for a week without any further reapplication. The only downside of this product is that it is much harder to scrub it off than a regular self tan and you go through a bottle quite fast.Jane V.
