I can't say I totally hate this product BUT it just didn't last long enough for me, which makes me wonder if it distributes unevenly after insertion?! You also have to have a certain shape toilet and a certain level of water to make it work properly. Luckily mine was fine but I can see this being an issue. I felt like the scent was fresh, while making the bowl appear cleaner between washings. Perhaps this is due to the blue coloring?! Perhaps it is because I have "soft water" that these only last 3 to 5 days. It turns very blue and concentrated for like 5 flushes then dwindles away after 3 days or so. I have also seen pieces breaking off causing blue spotting in the bowl and once even gumming up the floater in the tank making the water stop… even the other scrubbing bubbles brand lasts much longer, although it too has declined in recent years. The old school kind that came in the glass jars was the best but it's been discontinued for years. I bought this stuff to clean the metallic marks off Corelle dishes and bowls. It does a very good job. I tried other things, but nothing worked as well as this. It also works well on Stoneware. We bought an older house that had an older toilet with some really nasty buildup at the bottom of the toilet bowl. It was like concrete except it was brown and disgusting-looking. I bought a bottle and followed these steps. 1. I emptied the water out of the toilet bowl. 2. I poured in an entire bottle of Zep. 3. I left it overnight. 4. I gave the toilet a good scrubbing with a stiff brush. This removed about half of the crud. Then I repeated steps 1 through 4. Surprise! This toilet bowl cleaner should be called, "Wow!" My toilet bowl was a horrible, brown, disgusting mess. I tried all the usual toilet bowl cleaners, including white vinegar and baking soda, which I use on other tough stains, and nothing worked. My first use of this did not do a complete cleaning, clearing most of the lime buildup but not all, but I think it will as I use it for weekly maintenance. Nice thing is it took only a light brushing to do it. The "gel" is more like a thick syrup in my opinion, but it did the job. I did leave it on longer than suggested on the bottle. I purchased this ZEP Acidic toilet bowl cleaner on a whim. I was cleaning a house that had been vacant for more than 10 years. The toilets had more than a decade of hard water stains, rust, lime, calcium, and "unidentifiable" residue buildup cemented to them. I was certain the toilets would have to be replaced but felt I needed to at least try to clean them first so I wouldn't feel like a quitter. I used one application of this ZEP acidic toilet bowl cleaner and waited for 5 minutes – the stains started coming off! I was absolutely stunned. So, of course, I flushed the water down and tried another application right away. Again, I waited 5 minutes and this time almost all the stains were gone! I was gobsmacked. This stuff is amazing! We tried for years to get a hard water stain from bottom of toilet, nothing worked. Tried vinegar, CLR, and many things people suggested online. Each time shut water off, vacuumed out with shop vac let products sit overnight. No difference at all. Saw the reviews on this Zep thought what do I have to lose. So yesterday got it all set up no water left in toilet added zep enough cover bottom area. This morning chunks of the stain was floating on top the zep. I thought maybe starting break up. It was all gone! Had one small spot so soaked more in there took it out after few hours sitting. This stain has been there for years getting worse no matter what we tried. I bought a Glacier Bay flapperless stool about two years ago. I have installed hundreds of the fluidmaster 400's and other fluidmaster ballcocks in my 50 plus years as a apprentice, journeyman, and master plumber, so I was happy to see the fill valve in the Glacier Bay flapperless stool. Having had extremely good service from the ones installed in customers homes in an area that is noted for hard water(the norm there is 21 grains, 7 is considered hard). I didn't worry that this one was horizontal rather than vertical. What I got was a valve that failed on me in about 6 months, by not shutting off completely. I bought a repair kit and rebuilt it, it lasted about 2 months. I bought a replacement head and installed it. I kept an eye on it found it leaking in about 3 months called fluidmaster, they said they hadn't found a cure for it, asked if the water was hard. Water here has a maximum of 3 grains of hardness, so it's soft. The head I bought at that time lasted about 3 months. I took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly then reassembled it. It still leaked. I totally disassembled it and inverted the entire valve body. This lasted about 4 months. I am quitting the repairs. going to replace it with a dual flush.Retired Plumber
The instructions should be printed in a larger font with larger diagrams. For example, you have to figure out from the figure that the roller thingy on the supply tube should be roller side up. There are some real problems with a few of the parts: (1) I never could get the tank tight enough to make it straight up and without wobble. So I used the U-gasket from my old American Standard installation. Worked great first time. No leaks. (2) Using small hex nuts for the tank bolts doesn't work for me. Try finding a wrench that will work. Instead of hex head nuts my old installation used wing nuts. So I used those. MUCH easier tightening. (3) Instructions recommend using their supply line. I don't know anything about it, but I used my existing metal-braided line and it worked just fine. All flexible supply lines in your home should be metal-braided. (4) Why they even include that cheapo plastic handle is unknown to me. If your existing is metal, save and use it. The provided roller clamp was a surprisingly helpful little feature to save some water. Once I turned the water on there were no leaks anywhere. I adjusted the roller clamp to ensure the proper water level in the bowl. All done. After making the above-noted adjustments to the installation procedure, everything is working well.Glad it's over
after 10 years of using bleach tablets in TANK and one replacement of tank hardware we had a leak while on vacation. Chlorine eats away at washers and bolts. I had replaced all hardware and seals once with the red korky which are the most resistant but I still got a leak due to corrosion of bolt. All toilets now on this system. No bleach ever in tank, only goes to bowl which is porcelain and not susceptible to chlorine problems. $5k lesson learned. For any that say they tried and didn't see any bleach in bowl just give it a chance. Water between flushes sits in device and absorbs the bleach. If you just install and flush straight away you won't notice any bleach. Thats how it works and it does work.Ken

Okay, first of all, let’s talk about the value. The price for the two pack is amazing! I’ve used this for YEARS for my toilets and was always extremely satisfied. I recently moved to a state where bath caulk mildew seems to be the norm. I tried EVERYTHING I could think of apart from pure bleach. With two small children in the house, and limited bathroom ventilation (apart from two vent fans), I didn’t want to take the risk of using pure bleach, even diluted. Cue the social media suggestion. Someone suggested I use this product on the shower caulk for just a few minutes. I laid it on all around the edge of my stand up shower, where all the yucky mildew was, set both bathroom fans on, and left it for a few minutes. I didn’t even have to scrub a single inch of the shower. I ran hot water, washed the toilet cleaner off, and voila; clean, white, sanitized caulk. Never using anything else ever again!RHEM
During these times we are all trying to protect ourselves and others from Covid. Clorox Gel toilet bowl cleaner kills germs and bacteria which is must. We feel safe knowing this kills 99.9 percent of germs and bacteria and the Covid-19 also! The top of the cap is easy to open. Gently place your thumb and pointer finger on the slightly raised areas on the bottom of the red cap .Then at the same time gently squeeze the red cap at the smooth areas were your thumb and pointer finger are positioned, and twist the red cap, in a circular motion to open. I have always been on the search for a cleaning gel for my toilet and I did find some Clorox bleach gel. I did not know that they had a lemon scent one so I wanted to give it a try. It smells very light and it is not an overpowering scent. It dissolves stains very fast especially hard water stains. It kills 99% of germs and that is something that I always want in my bathroom. I apply this under the rim and I leave it for about 5 minutes just to make sure that it is doing its job then I lightly scrub around the toilet with my brush. A clean fresh scent and a sanitized toilet. I will definitely buy more of the lemon scent. This product can be found at Walmart. I did not see this at my other local store. I agree with other reviews about this product not being very good. When the water stopped being as “blue” I figured I probably needed to put a new tablet in the tank. Only to find that it had turned into a giant gelatinous glob of goo in the the back of our tanks. We used a stir stick to dislodge it from the bottom and flushed a bunch of times…then we discovered that it had eaten away/dissolved our gaskets/valves. I only used this kind of tablet because my store was sold out of the regular bleach tablets…I had no problems with the regular kind so I guess I’ll go back to using that after we replace our gaskets/valves.Julskies
Horrible! Ruins toilet and leaves a disgusting moldy mess. I honestly don’t know how these are still on the market. How did they pass quality control?! First, as another reviewer noted, it leaves a blue ring/residue in toilet bowl that is impossible to remove no matter how hard you scrub. The real nightmare though is the MOLD! After a couple weeks of the tablet being in the tank, as the blue from the toilet water started fading away, we started noticing weird flecks of a gray/smokey looking substance. Upon opening the tank to investigate, we realized it was black mold. The tank water and the rim/sides of the tank had gobs of thick black mold. We had to dump the tank water and clean out with plain bleach, which thankfully cleared up most of the problem, but it can’t be healthy to have that kind of mold in an enclosed space like our small bathrooms (it happened in both of our bathrooms/toilets), and it ruined our toilet bowls (both of which were fairly new). This product was half blue and white in color. When I dropped it into the tank the entire commode turned a deep shade of blue with deep blue streaks running into the bowl. After one day, I scooped it out with a spoon and it was just a glob of dark blue mass. Now I have an extra challenge to remove the blue streaks out of my toilet. I bought this product at a Lowe's store. It contained 4 tablets and it costs nearly $12.00. I have 3 toilets in my house that have horrible dark blue streaks and stains. I had a toilet so stained and built up with deposits I wanted to replace it. I tried baking soda and vinegar and had small areas that eat through the build up. After multiple attempts and little progress, I tried the Lysol Lime and Rust remover. I emptied the bowl of water and added the product. 30 minutes later my toilet looked brand new. We spent the better part of 2 years trying every product or solution you could think of to clean our toilet bowl. Somehow calcium had built up over the course of time and we just couldn't get rid of it. Soaking the bowl in bleach overnight, scrubbing with comet, using drop ins – it was all futile. Not even the regular Lysol toilet bowl cleaner left for 8 hours would touch it. Then comes this stuff. We put it in the bowl, left it for an hour and came back to check. With a wipe of the brush every bit of calcium buildup came off and I'm convinced I could have just flushed and most of it would have gone down the drain. Can't recommend this enough.Nicholas
