20 Best Serum For Dull Skin (Jan 2023 Update)

This serum is fantastic! It absorbs quickly and very light. I have used it for nearly two months and my face is hydrated, smooth, and my pores seem smaller. A little goes a long way. I have stopped using expensive youth serums because of this product. I use it morning/night on clean skin. In the morning I use a tinted spf moisturizer over it and my make-up applies smooth. I even apply it over my lips which helps hydrate before applying lipstick or gloss! Def try it, you won't regret it!! 🤩laney74

Five out of the six facial products I use are CeraVe. I've been using this product for about a month now. When I was first looking for an Hyaluronic product, I of course looked to CeraVe first. I was disappointed that I couldn't find the percentage of Hyaluronic Acid on the package or anywhere. I looked under the questions section on Amazon and everyone said that CeraVe doesn't give out proprietary ingredient info. I can understand that, however, I don't think the main ingredient, in this case Hyaluronic acid, to be part of a proprietary blend and inhibits consumers from making informed decisions about what products they are buying. Other companies list the amount of it on their labels….this has left a bad taste in my mouth and now I'm questioning my continued use of CeraVe products. L'Oréal Revitalift has no problem stating their percentage..1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid. I will stop using the CeraVe and purchase the Revitalift, since I know what I'm am purchasing. Maybe CeraVe has a higer concentration, but since I don't know, I'll have to go with what I do know. Sorry CeraVe, bad call on your part on this issue and you most likely lost a long time customer.Laurent7465

Here's what worked for me. At night, wash face, apply exfoliant/toner. Let that dry down completely. Mist face with water (I use a simple blue glass bottle with a pump spray top–got it off Amazon. Only mist lightly.). Then apply two pumps of the HA serum. Let that dry down thoroughly before adding the night cream. (It seems like using minimal product–just 2 pumps–also helped combat pilling. I like this. It lessened the pilling, and the bottle lasted longer.) YMMV, but letting ALL of the products dry down and settle in, plus lightly misting with water, AND only applying 2 pumps helped me with the pilling. So did using the serum at night vs. daytime. I'm very happy with the results from the serum. 50 y/o, slightly oily complexion, some dry spots, tend to get clogged pores; tried this serum to stop looking like a ghoul during Zoom meetings. I'm very happy with the results, and will continue to use this one. Beauty of Joseon is my favourite KBeauty brand by far. Has great ingredients and no added fillers and sensitizing components like fragrance and essential oils. This is one of the best hydrating serums I've used. I have pretty bad eczema flare ups and I usually go for this bottle whenever I do have one. You don't even need to use much so a bottle lasts me a long time! I've already repurchased this product, along with the Propolis one, which is probably the best Kbeauty serum of all time for me.Raphael

I have been using this serum along side other products for almost 3 weeks now and to be honest I did find a slight change in my skin. The texture of the serum is nice not too sticky and it dries great on the skin leaving no grease cast and gorgeous from within glow. I would say that the size is quite small for the price. Another thing, I didn’t breakout from this product which is good for my acne-prone skin. Highly recommend this for dry skin as well. It leaves my skin hydrated with nice glow and pairs well with my other skin care products. My skin is usually dry/sensitive. I wanted to take a break from my retinol product for the summer, but thought I'd try this for a continued bit of skin renewal/turnover. I've loved this product so far (having used it about 2 weeks now). You only need about 3-4 drops, so it should last a long time. It absorbs quickly without any greasiness and my skin feels much softer than on the days I don't use this product. I have not noticed any irritation or increased sensitivity, which I appreciate as I take multiple medications that make my skin extra sun-sensitive.Kacey B.

I have to say the reviews surprised me. I've been using this serum with my routine for 3 weeks now and can only say good things. My skin is very dry and dehydrated. I'm in my 40s with some old sun damage and fine lines and my goal was to help heal my pregnancy melasma and help texture and lines. I use a korean essense first, followed by this niacinamide serum, vitamin c serum, a moisturizing ceramide toner and a moisturizing sunscreen every day and use a peptide-cerimide mousurizer unstead of sunscreen at night. The only thing I changed 3 weeks ago was switching out my old hyaluronic acid serum for this product. My skin is glowing. Im noticing a slow decrease in the extra texture and "patchiness" and keep getting complimented by friends who see it too. I saw a change after my 2nd time.

I layer a lot of products, although I mist between layers to help it soak in. Im my case I need all that moisture, and for my dry middle aged skin this has been great. Reading the reviews though I wont be trying it on my boyfriend who has rosacea… Eek!Tara Klang

I too have fallen for the Niacinamide fad that had happened on Insta and have tried my share of different Niacinamide serums. The @naturium serum is by far my favorite stand alone Niacinamide product. It checks off everything in the box, high percentage, formulated with Zinc, works well with layering. It shows a visible difference in my skin when used consistently. The other ingredients include, Propanediol, Glycerin, Zinc PCA, Vitamin E, by and Sodium Hyaluronate. Zinc is supposedly an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and regulates oil. It also shows to protect and aid in wound healing and regeneration. This is why Zinc Oxide is so often found in high performing sunscreens, as it can reflect the sun and it creates a barrier between the skin and any damaging UV rays. The serum feels hydrating, non-sticky, and has very light creamy/gel texture. The serum absorbs into the skin nicely and helps reduce some of my dark spots and provides a nice glow. In the last two years I have been trying a number of hyaluronic acid serum brands. About a month ago I received a sample of Mineral 89 and I was instantly amazed with the results on my skin. The serum has a much thicker consistency than what I am used to, but this is what makes this product different. It absorbs very quickly into the skin and when absorbed, you can feel how moisturised and hydrated it is, even before applying any other products. I use this serum as a first step in my skin care routine and I layer other active ingredients and SPF on top. This product is AMAZING, BUT there is a caveat. Often times when I buy this product it seems spoiled, like how vitamin C can go bad if not kept correctly. The product should be a light orangey color, but when it's gone off it's a darker orange. I've used this for years and return it before I even walk out of the store most times because I know to check to see if it is bad/old/whatever is going on with it. If you do get a good bottle, you'll be writing a great review, trust me. But if I got my first bottle or two and it was sticky and smelled odd, and didn't do what others claimed it would, of course I would be skeptical too. 75% of the bottles I buy, whether Sephora or Ulta, are always bad. This is one of those products that you didn't know you needed until you try it. This is a very high quality serum that I received a sample of. My skin is mature with fine lines, very dry, and prone to acne breakouts. As instructed I placed three or four drops in my hand and applied it to my face. It easily spread over my skin and my skin absorbed it quickly and it left it feeling extremely smooth It even looked better after the first application. So far I really love what I'm seeing with this product. I applied a light nighttime moisturizer afterwards so far I have not broken out and my skin already looks a lot better. I am someone who takes care of their skin or at least I thought I was but this product may be something that I will add to my regimen. I got this sample of Multi-Action Super-C Retinol Brighten and Correct Vitamin C Serum from @strivectin months ago I've been using it for over a couple of months, so now it's time to give my honest opinion. I'm usually incredibly sensitive to Retinol, so I was hesitant about trying this at first. It's actually very, very gentle. Idk the % of Retinol, but I did start off slowly. I used it 2X a week, then built up to 3-4X a week. I do feel a slight warming sensation after applying it, but it does go away after about 5 min or less. The serum has a strong scent to it, like a strong citrus type scent, but it does go away after about 2 mins. It's a thick, orange serum that will feel tacky at first, but it does absorb into your skin. I put on toner first, then this serum, then a thick, moisturizing cream to keep my skin calm. I have noticed a more even texture to my skin my skin just looks overall more healthy than it did before. I have quite a bit of serum left (you only need a drop or 2), so if any changes happen, I'll update. Note: I had absolutely NO purging, dryness or redness when using this serum. If you're not used to Retinol, start off slowly. 1-2X a week, then work your way up. As I delved into the 'over 40's' category one thing I really noticed was that my skin was becoming much 'duller' and less elastic. It lost it's youthful/dewy, glow and was in desperate need of a 'drink'. I've never been one for make-up nor any sort of skincare routine for that matter but the effect of ageing was undeniable. After reading up a lot on how and what to use to get hydration back into my skin I took the plunge and committed to making more of an effort with my health and fitness and also invested in some hydrating skincare products. I have to say, it has all been worth it. This serum in particular is almoust aqueous jelly-like (similar to aloe vera) and glides on well. I apply it to my slightly damp face after toning and let it settle in (which doesn't take long) before going over with my moisturiser. I worried that all these new products on my skin would be too thick and bring me out in spots but it was so not the case. My skin must've been so thirsty it drank it up. Now my cheeks are much less papery/leathery, more supple and has that natural healthy glow that I missed. Let me start by saying that I have very dry and dehydrated skin. I have tried the other highly rated serums such as Glossier super bounce HA, Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Liquid Gel Cloud Serum, Inky List HA serum, Peach & Lilly glass skin serum, Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate, and they didn't begin to touch my degree of dryness. After application and with a moisturizer my skin felt tight again after 5 mins. When I did my skincare routine at night, I would wake up in the morning and my face would be flaky and I exfoliate twice weekly. I'm also getting older and I've incorporated retinol into my routine. God help my skin… My Inky List serum was empty and I found myself in Ulta to find the next HA to try. I look up my options, sample some of the testers on my hands which were promptly absorbed and not noticeable after a few minutes. I saw this but was leery about it due to the reviews, but I went for it anyway since I didn't have much to lose. Wow! This serum isn't watery – she is thiccc with 3 c's. Two drops is almost too much but I like to spread it across my neck and upper chest as well so it works out. I can actually let this sit on my face for a few mins before finishing my routine and my face will not be dry at all! It feels heavy at first but it soaks in very well and I'm left with moisturized, dewy, glowing skin even a full 24 hours after application. This serum is amazing and I haven't tried anything else like it. The cons: -I would definitely say this is meant for parched, driest of the dry skin. I can see why oily or normal-skinned people would hate this. -I don't know how well this will wear under makeup. I haven't worn foundation since I've been using it because I actually like the way my skin looks, finally. -There is a light fragrance. Hyalu B5 Hyaluronic Acid Serum & Toleriane Dermallergo Soothing Cream Tried this when I had a bad area on my face and neck (very dry, red skin). I have very dry skin on my face and neck areas.Almost as soon as I applied the cream my skin felt soothed and much less sore. Within a day it had calmed down and the redness had almost gone. Amazing. I use this at night or when I am feeling like I need added moisture. It is best under a night moisturiser and I find that you wake up with fewer dry spots. I found this to be a light creamy texture that left the skin feeling soft and smooth. Within a few days of using daily I was able to reduce application to every 3rd or 4th day. Really pleased with the results, skin feels hydrated and smooth This will definitely be remaining in my bathroom and i buy again !!damla1232

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this product has completely transformed my skin. Since I was a teenager, I would suffer from acne and redness, mostly lots of small bumps (closed comedones) all over my forehead and around my nose. I've tried all sorts of products – lots of strong, drying cleansers, topical treatments, various exfoliators, but honestly just accepted that my skin wouldn't budge. After a few weeks of using this serum, my acne was significantly better. I've used this product twice a day for over a year, and I rarely get acne now, only small red splotches that often vanish overnight. My typical routine now is super simple and basically the same 2x a day; just the Cerave renewing SA cleanser, this TO Niacinamide, then a moisturizer & spf in the AM. I try to exfoliate twice a week, but even in weeks where I fall off this habit, my skin stays clear thanks to this serum. I almost never write reviews for products, but am writing this now so anyone with similar skin issues to me can give this serum a try! I had never tried other niacinamide products before this, so I imagine other niacinamide solutions would also work well for me – but this TO serum is so affordable, I don't plan on trying anything else any time soon.Jess

This serum has been an almost-miracle product for my sensitive, redness-prone, blemish-prone skin. My only qualm with it is that it SERIOUSLY STINGS if you apply it to any active breakouts or broken skin. My skin was in seriously terrible condition due to a Lupus flare and hormonal acne, but after everything healed, I have been able to use this without irritation, following it with the Hyaluronic Acid/B5 serum, Pycnogenol, and Marula Oil (or moisturizing factor lotion). It really has transformed the texture of my skin, to a more noticeable degree than most of The Ordinary's other products (besides the Alpha Lipoic Acid serum, which I miss so much). My pores are refined, especially on my forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks on either side of my nose. Once prone to being easily-inflamed, sensitive areas of my face are no longer red, and now look more smooth. Oily patches, especially my nose, are less-oily. I have fewer clogged pores and blackheads, and less blemishes from irritation. I purchased the 2oz bottle from The Ordinary's website, since I apply this to my chest, upper arms, and back as well, as I sometimes have breakouts from malassezia. It also quickly fades the purple/red post-blemish marks on my very fair skin. It does make my skin feel drier and tight if I don't moisturize thoroughly afterwards, especially during this part of the winter, so keep that in mind. The price also makes it easier to use it liberally where ever I need it. Other than the stinging, it's a fantastic serum for my very high-maintenance, 30-year-old skin.arh

I heard amazing things about this product and did some digging into all the great benefits niacinamide and zinc have for the skin, and it seemed like it would help target my main skin concerns! I was aware of the possibility that I may experience purging and that some people can have allergic reactions but it's incredibly rare to the point where many dermatologists will assume its not an allergy to niacinamide, rather another ingredient present in the product that the person reacted to. I knew niacinamide was meant to help with the skin barrier as well as brightening and texture improvement, all things I struggle with. I did a bit more digging and noticed that the tested amounts shown to be effective and safe for the skin range between 2-5%. To be clear, I'm not saying 10% is bad or dangerous, it's just not as tried and true as that 2-5% range that's been studied many times. Like all new products, I did a 48 hour patch test on my arm as directed by The Ordinary's guidelines, and had no issues. Before starting my routine I used their (very helpful!) resource for when and how often to use specific products and to only introduce one new product at a time to prevent irritation/negative effects. What I'm a little upset about, is the lack of easily accessible information about how this product can cause irritation (among other negative effects) for people with non-oily skin. After about a week of use (3 drops for face and neck), my cheeks became hard like rough leather… I also felt a burning sensation after each use, but really wanted to give it a chance and went back to the basics (cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen) and I still had issues and my skin continued to harden and dry up. I was frustrated and confused because I couldn't find answers as to why I was having such a strange reaction anytime I used this product. Eventually, after much digging, I discovered that this should not be used by those with dry skin, especially at such a high concentration of 10%. I still stand by niacinamide and zinc as skincare ingredients, they are excellent for your skins health and have really helped many people in their skincare journey. This can be a great option for those struggling with acne prone skin and textural irregularities (if you have an oilier skin type). I'm here because I don't want other people with similar skin types to mine to buy this and feel lost or confused if they have a bad reaction. It's not that your skin is being ridiculous or difficult, it just may be that the concentration is too high, or that niacinamide may not be something you use as an active/solo-ingredient in your daily/weekly skincare routine. I challenge The Ordinary to include a section under this product outlining that if you have dry skin, that this product may cause issues, or better yet, offer a niacinamide product formulated for people with dry and/or sensitive skin to increase inclusivity. All in all, I hope whoever chooses to read this lengthy review, that you feel more informed and empowered to make a confident decision for yourself. By no means do I dislike The Ordinary, I LOVE all the other products I have from them! I just wish I had been advised about the potential issues if you don't have more of an oily/combo skin type.MMB

I found this vitamin C serum to be a fantastic replacement or alternative to the serum I've been using. I like to try a lot of different products rather than stick to just one, and this is one of the better I have tried. I do not like a chemical smell and to me this did not smell the chemicals. It also absorbs quickly, and there was no sticky. A lot of different serums feel sticky for a few minutes and then absorb, or leave a film on the skin. This is not sticky, it absorbs well, and I still use it on occasion. I have skin that stops benefiting from specific potions, which is why switching it up is perfect for me.Kimmeuto

Being a chef and working in hot, greasy environments all day long, I needed something that not only revived my skin, but also worked with helping my pores not be so large and look like a sinkhole was underway … I was hesitant purchasing this, as It was a little on the pricey side, and my sweet tooth doesn’t like to lessen the cash flow there! I have received trial mini packs of TruSkin Vitamin C serum as a part of their promotion. However, this review is solely based on my honest opinion and experience with this product. I have SUPER SENSITIVE skin. And I have not found a vitamin C serum that suits my skin yet. I have used this a few times, at night, after washing and toning. And then layered with moisturizer. My skin started irritating after a few minutes giving me the feel of itchiness. And the next day, it did not give me the radiant glow like other vitamin C serums would. So, for me it was not a success. People who have very sensitive skin, I'd recommend them to use the trial version first, see how your skin likes it, before buying the full-size. I think It bye bye dark spot works for me. I got few dark spots after I gave birth to my second daughter. Therefore I started using Kiehls dark spot. That took me at least 2 bottles to start working on my skin and then I added it to my collection. I came across IT dark spot when I was at Ulta. Since the price is really reasonable, I bought a 1oz bottle to try. The texture of this serum is more watery than K brand. It has a nice scent but does not last long. Normally after I finish applying my whole face the scent has already gone. It is easy to apply and absorbs well. I usually put the serum on my dark spots area only and massage the area for couple seconds each day. After finishing the whole bottle, I did notice my dark spots are lighter than before. I will buy another bottle and hope it can give me a even better result I am looking for. For the price, I cannot complain anything.crystal.s

As a person working in beauty, I’m pleasantly surprised with the potency! I love this serum! It reminds me a bit of CE Ferulic from Skinceuticals, just way cheaper lol. People are complaining it’s watery but what they don’t realize is that silicones and fillers in other products makes serums hydrating or thicker in texture, those things actually lower the effectiveness in vitamin c but this product doesn’t have those ingredients inside.

I literally see a difference in my skin in one use. It’s definitely an active vitamin c, it stings a bit, not unbearable though. I see a difference in hyperpigmentation if I use after I exfoliate at night and use spf during the day (spf is non-negotiable if you want to get rid of dark spots).

So I was looking in the mirror in the car just before a meeting and thought to myself oh Lordy, my pores are so visible so before the meeting I ordered this, I’ll admit I didn’t do much research I just read the description on here and thought right I’ll give it a go. Was in a bit of rush, but thought I need to try something!!! Went to my meeting and went home, never give it another thought it until it arrived. Waited until the night cleansed my face and used as directed no stinging no nothing really went to bed, repeated it for a couple of days and OMG this evening noticed my skin, it’s so much cleaner looking, it has caused a few spots but I think that’s because it’s riding my skin of all the blocked pores, even with these few spots my skin looks better. So would I recommend? Absolutely I would, I’m not even into the two weeks as they say noticeable difference by then and I’m already impressed. Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution is a treatment for discoloration and dark spots. It can also help visibly correct uneven skin tone and help the appearance of any skin texture. It doesn't have an overpowering scent , rather it has a lovely light airy floral scent which was very nice. I loved how smooth and silky the solution felt as soon as it touched my face! I have sensitive skin and braced myself for any light discomfort or irritation that most treatments of the same kind I have tried in the past usually gave me. I was pleasantly surprised that there was not a moment of discomfort and how gentle it was! It absorbed quite quickly but still left a lingering smooth feeling on my skin. I used this product for well over a week and am still using it, and so far not only has it delivered on its promises of clearing up dark spots and uneven skin tone but my acne I was experiencing cleared up, which was definitely the icing on the correcting treatment cake! So, I've been using this for 12 weeks now – in the morning and at night before bed – may have done 1x a day here and there – but this is a fantastic product.. I grew up in the 80's-90's so we were always in the sun with our baby oil and tin foil, destroying our skin and I have the dark spots to show for it now. I've been using a retinol for a couple of years and while it helps, it hasn't helped as much as this with lightening these spots – I don't expect miracles and for them to be gone over night – or ever, to be honest…but to have them lightened up as much as they have, is all I can ask. I can wear this under make-up w/o an issue at all and it pairs fine with my other products that I use in my routine. I will continue to use this because I am very happy with the results thus far. I did take a before picture – but of course, I can't find it! But here is how it looks today without any makeup or filters to blur it all out. CE Ferulic is a beautiful serum. Amongst other ascorbic acid serums, CE Ferulic is pleasant to use, despite also having a hot dog water smell (standard for ascorbic acid) it is subtle and bearable compared to other products. CE Ferulic is also very moisturising on my skin. It is even okay to use on its own without moisturiser sometimes. CE Ferulic gives my skin great luminosity and radiance. However, it does not have an impact on pigmentation (by this point in time I have used Skinceutical's vitamin C serum continuously for around 12 weeks). I see CE Ferulic as more of a maintenance serum rather than a life-changing serum. It did provide a good luminosity to my skin, however it certainly did not have the same wow factor as compared to, say for example, Skinceutical's Silymarin CF. However, for a good maintenance serum I think $233 is overpriced compared to what is otherwise available in the market. I am also not sure why, with this hefty price tag, the serum does not come in an airless pump and opaque bottle given that ascorbic acid is so prone to oxidising. I am not really enjoying the dropper bottle format but I have been storing this in the dark in my drawer and wrapped in foil. It has not oxidised. I had heard about SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic from friends, and remained very skeptical, thinking: right, right, sure, sure. Their skin always looked fresh and healthy. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this product has completely transformed my skin. Since I was a teenager, I would suffer from acne and redness, mostly lots of small bumps (closed comedones) all over my forehead and around my nose. I've tried all sorts of products – lots of strong, drying cleansers, topical treatments, various exfoliators, but honestly just accepted that my skin wouldn't budge. After a few weeks of using this serum, my acne was significantly better. I've used this product twice a day for over a year, and I rarely get acne now, only small red splotches that often vanish overnight. I try to exfoliate twice a week, but even in weeks where I fall off this habit, my skin stays clear thanks to this serum. This serum has been an almost-miracle product for my sensitive, redness-prone, blemish-prone skin. My only qualm with it is that it SERIOUSLY STINGS if you apply it to any active breakouts or broken skin. My skin was in seriously terrible condition due to a Lupus flare and hormonal acne, but after everything healed, I have been able to use this without irritation, following it with the Hyaluronic Acid/B5 serum, Pycnogenol, and Marula Oil (or moisturizing factor lotion). It really has transformed the texture of my skin, to a more noticeable degree than most of The Ordinary's other products (besides the Alpha Lipoic Acid serum, which I miss so much). My pores are refined, especially on my forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks on either side of my nose. Once prone to being easily-inflamed, sensitive areas of my face are no longer red, and now look more smooth. Oily patches, especially my nose, are less-oily. I have fewer clogged pores and blackheads, and less blemishes from irritation. I purchased the 2oz bottle from The Ordinary's website, since I apply this to my chest, upper arms, and back as well, as I sometimes have breakouts from malassezia. It also quickly fades the purple/red post-blemish marks on my very fair skin. It does make my skin feel drier and tight if I don't moisturize thoroughly afterwards, especially during this part of the winter, so keep that in mind. The price also makes it easier to use it liberally where ever I need it. Other than the stinging, it's a fantastic serum for my very high-maintenance, 30-year-old skin.arh

I heard amazing things about this product and did some digging into all the great benefits niacinamide and zinc have for the skin, and it seemed like it would help target my main skin concerns! I was aware of the possibility that I may experience purging and that some people can have allergic reactions but it's incredibly rare to the point where many dermatologists will assume its not an allergy to niacinamide, rather another ingredient present in the product that the person reacted to. I knew niacinamide was meant to help with the skin barrier as well as brightening and texture improvement, all things I struggle with. I did a bit more digging and noticed that the tested amounts shown to be effective and safe for the skin range between 2-5%. To be clear, I'm not saying 10% is bad or dangerous, it's just not as tried and true as that 2-5% range that's been studied many times. Like all new products, I did a 48 hour patch test on my arm as directed by The Ordinary's guidelines, and had no issues. Before starting my routine I used their (very helpful!) resource for when and how often to use specific products and to only introduce one new product at a time to prevent irritation/negative effects. What I'm a little upset about, is the lack of easily accessible information about how this product can cause irritation (among other negative effects) for people with non-oily skin. After about a week of use (3 drops for face and neck), my cheeks became hard like rough leather… I also felt a burning sensation after each use, but really wanted to give it a chance and went back to the basics (cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen) and I still had issues and my skin continued to harden and dry up. I was frustrated and confused because I couldn't find answers as to why I was having such a strange reaction anytime I used this product. Eventually, after much digging, I discovered that this should not be used by those with dry skin, especially at such a high concentration of 10%. I still stand by niacinamide and zinc as skincare ingredients, they are excellent for your skins health and have really helped many people in their skincare journey. This can be a great option for those struggling with acne prone skin and textural irregularities (if you have an oilier skin type). I'm here because I don't want other people with similar skin types to mine to buy this and feel lost or confused if they have a bad reaction. It's not that your skin is being ridiculous or difficult, it just may be that the concentration is too high, or that niacinamide may not be something you use as an active/solo-ingredient in your daily/weekly skincare routine. I challenge The Ordinary to include a section under this product outlining that if you have dry skin, that this product may cause issues, or better yet, offer a niacinamide product formulated for people with dry and/or sensitive skin to increase inclusivity. All in all, I hope whoever chooses to read this lengthy review, that you feel more informed and empowered to make a confident decision for yourself. I have tried several different vitamin C serums, and Obagi is really different from the other options out there. I have been using the Obagi 15% for about 6-7 months now. First, I can tell you the color is very, very pale yellow tinged. It also has a very distinct hint of orange scent. What makes it really different, is that I can actually feel it! I mix about 3 drops with 3-4 drops niacinamide serum and about 4 drops hyaluronic acid and squalane morning and night. After applying to clean skin, I notice a very light tingling sensation a few minutes later – nothing dramatic, just a very faint feel. But – that tells me it is doing it's job! The first time I used it, it seemed to instantly smooth my complexion and even the texture. After three days, my skin looked brighter overall and was extremely soft. I got this item and was highly skeptical of its claims that it could be used on any skin type, as my skin is super sensitive to so many products. I had figured that it would probably just end up in the bin with all of the other high end and low end products that i have tried, only to find them irritating…but BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!! Not only did this product not aggravate my skin in the slightest but it improved my skin so much! I love that it was feather weight and didn't leave my skin feeling like i had heavy oils on it. the serum is a slight bit sticky when you first put it on just until it soaks into your skin (much like aloe). there is hardly any smell to it what so ever, if you smell very close you might catch a wiff of the witch hazel but it dissipates once applied to your skin. I love that there is no added color or fragrance, there is nothing worse then having something heavily scented on your face. The serum is a super thick gel so a tiny drop covers your whole face and neck. Its easy to use and fast absorbing, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated. Im sure if you live in a hot climate or in the summer months it would be super refreshing to leave the bottle to chill in the refrigerator and apply it cold. I LOVED the way that it helped my face feel so much that i ended up trying it on the patches of eczema that i had on my arms and backs of my hands. As a 20-something, who is often still mistaken for college student, I didn't think I needed to add any collagen or anti-aging products to my routine yet. I've been struggling with acne and mainly acne scars for about 3 years now. I've tried different kinds of medication, different kinds of skincare products and so many other methods, and nothing worked. I have the type of skin that burns and turns red with many skin products. I've been trying to simplify and make sure what I do use doesn't react to each other and cause burning. I use this as the first step in my routine. I really loved Josie maran argan oil hydrating milk but find it to be very pricey and runs out quickly. I know this is $11 cheaper but the packaging on this serum versus the Josie one …I get more out of it? Pump vs dropper. I like the dropper a lot. Anyways the product itself works well for my skin. It's supple and hydrated. The way the serum spreads is really nice too. I thought I would really like this product due to the ingredients list, but so far…I am disappointed. It does absorb into the skin if you follow the instructions to "massage it into the skin." I normally just tap or gently sweep serum over my face with my ring and pinky fingers, but unless I really make sure this one is absorbed fully it makes anything I put on top of it, including moisturizer, pill instantly. Even when fully absorbed I don't find it remotely hydrating and it leaves a slightly tacky feeling. It almost feels dehydrating/tightening, and makes me eager to add moisturizer. So far when I use it at night I wake up feeling dry. I have been battling a damaged barrier following an eczema flare up on my chin during the last part of winter, but with the ceramides and all of the other barrier supporting ingredients, I thought this would be similar to Krave Beauty's Great Barrier Relief, but it's got more of a syrupy, sticky texture than a rich, milky or creamy one. in fairness I've only used it for 3 days, so I will update if I start to see some sort of results after a week. if not, I'm returning it. oh, and the packaging is pretty, but seems EXCESSIVE and not environmentally conscious: plastic box, with a cloth bag inside, and an incredibly heavy/thick glass bottle inside that, plus a separate little paper insert about the brand (with zero useful info about the product, really). Not sure what happened w/ this one. I use many other Neutrogena products like wipes/moisturizers/creams w/great success. Unfortunately, this Neutrogena Lift Serum didn't work for me. Not sure if it doesn't work well w/ my dry skin, if an ingredient in it disagrees w/ me, or maybe usage of the 2 x's per day is too much. This serum left my skin with worse dryness & a blotch-y skin texture. Prior to using this product, my skin was smooth for the most part, so I was looking forward to seeing some improvement in skin appearance & a reduction in fine lines. No luck. The process of the serum was simple though. Just use 2 's per day in AM & PM on a clean face. A little goes a long way & I found just 2 pumps was enough to cover my face/neck. You follow that w/ your usual moisturizer. Super simple right? My skin just didn't do well w/ this product. No worries though – all skin is unique & I'm sure this will work well for others. I will continue to purchase Neutrogena as it's a trusted brand.Christmasbaby8

I have to say that I have been a fan of Neutrogena products almost my whole life. I always considered them a great manufacturer of quality skincare products at very reasonable prices This rapid firming peptide contour lift face cream is great for the money. I have been using it now almost exclusively for almost three weeks and I can see results! It smooths on easily and absorbs quickly. My 55 year old skin looks firmer and definitely has become smoother and more hydrated. I will be buying more. Highly recommend!Veronica
