Okay this is the best stuff ever. I have fine, wavy to curly hair. My hair is EASILY weighed down, and let me tell you, this product delivers. This is NOT an oil. Like how hyaluronic acid or niacinamide supports a moisturizer, this serum supports your conditioners or leave in moisturizers while helping smooth, shine, and protect. Unlike facial serums, this one goes on AFTER the moisturizing products to lock in the goodness. It strengthens your hair and allows for better style retention, as well as influencing your natural texture to take center stage in all its glory! This is a water gel like texture, it’s fast drying, but with no tacky ness or a residual texture of its own. It’s completely absorbed unless you use too much. If you use too much it will pull humidity from the air, making your hair feel like you just were in a sauna for 30 mins until it dries again. Use less than a full pump for medium hair, even less for fine hair. It’s styling benefits are definitely refreshed by scrunching with water! Next day this a huge time saver for me after sleeping on my hair. How I used it: After washing my hair I applied a pea size of number 6 Bond smoother, and BRUSHED it through upside down. I used the blackberry & coconut first, and also had this cherry blossom one. I think they both work well, but just prefer the cherry blossom smell more. You see instant results. I received this product for the purpose of reviewing it. The packaging of this product isn’t quite the same as the shampoo and conditioner. It matches the color, but lacks the same Grecian Pillar look Oribé is known for. This serum is extremely strongly scented. The smell lasts a LONG time. I applied it sunday. The next week, the smell was still going strong. Like the others of this set, this has a vaguely hibiscus scent. This serum didn’t really do much of anything for my hair. When applied to damp hair, it actually left my hair feeling crunchy when it dried, similar to a gel. It did make my ends more cohesive and less frizzy/damaged looking. A little bit of this goes a long way. Honestly, I don’t think this product is worth the price. It feels like a $20 hair treatment. It definitely isn’t a luxurious feel like the other products in the alchemy line. At $64 for 175mL, it’s not a good buy to me. I recurved this product free for testing through Influencer, to provide my honest opinion. I have fine, thinning… and I mean thinning, genetic hair loss! I was my hair every other day and applied this in the schedule. That I have also colored with stylists over the past 5 years. This product was sent several months before the launch packaging is beautiful, I'm a sucker for good packaging. It is slightly fragment, I personally enjoyed the smell, slightly herbal. I was interested in the southing properties as I tend to have a dry and itchy scalp during the cold New England winters. The Ouai serum did help with that tremendously, very little itch, irritation or flakiness, like previous years. I did notice most days I used it that my hair appeared a bit fuller, especially if I styled with hear tools. I don't know if it helped my hair grow or perfect shedding necessarily which is why I docked one star. I would decently recommend for those with itchy it irritated scalps, or those looking for a boost if fullness, I think it's the ingredients lifting your hair, again not that I saw hair growth but I feel like my hair felt healthier. I am including a photo of my part, the most recent may look like I lost more hair but I think it's lighting. QUAI SCALP SERUM I like this serum because it’s completely vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, paraben free and phathalate free, SLS & SLES free. I smells nice and not greasy like one might think. Best of all, easy to apply. The container contains a very nice dropper. The presentation of the bottle is simple, but elegant. I accidentally dropped it and it didn’t break or crack, so it’s made of strong glass. Improvements: My scalp feel less irritated and healthy. In my case, I have dry scalp that comes and goes, and this serum helps minimize dandruff. While using, I noticed less and less flakes and eventually, none. My hair feels healthier and fuller. It leaves a fresh feeling in your hair and a very nice scent. I was selected to test this in March, and I have been using this treatment for more than a month. It came out recently, but you can now make your purchase directly in the @Quai store, @sephora , @ultabeauty and other stores. It’s priced at $52 dlls. A bit expensive, but worth it. I received this product complementary from Influenster and OUAI in exchange for my honest opinion. Just over a month ago, I received this product free from Influenster. Since the new year, I’ve been getting much more into hair and skin products. I’m not getting any younger, so I’m trying to look my best and move into my 40s with grace. I really like the scent of this product, which is kind of minty and is familiar but I could not quite pin it down. If nothing else, your hair will smell great after applying this. The product is applied via a medicine dropper type bulb and applicator. i’m honestly not too sure what I think about this. From the beginning, I always felt like it was not getting enough product into the dropper and had to make multiple goals to get enough to saturate my scalp. In the end I just kind of gave up and came to terms that I would have to go multiple times to do the job. However, I can see why they don’t want you to do it with your fingers, as the shape of the bottle is not conducive for that. The bottles made of glass, but they might want to rethink it and make it into a squeeze bottle with a nozzle, kind of like how you would apply hair dye. I received this product during a time when I dyed my hair twice and pretty much fried my hair. I am going gray in front and getting the color to saturate has been a challenge. This has caused hair breakage and damage. I was able to use his products and apply it to the edges and widows peak of my hair. I feel like after use, but my scalp was not as Ollie but still moist. I gave this a try on three separate wash days and it made my hair feel gross! My hair and scalp are dry, so I was surprised this made my hair feel greasy. I used about 1 full pipette over my whole scalp. I've used other scalp serums with no issue, this was on sale making it cheaper than the one I was using so I bought it. I can't speak to its long term effects but there is no way I could use it for the 8 Wks. The pipette will only fill about 1/2 way. For reference I wash my hair every 4-5 days and use the derma e scalp serum every other day and it does not make my hair greasy even on days I co wash. I ended up returning this.Loveaemily
Just about finished my 1st bottle, and recently received the 2nd bottle. I've been using every night (give or take a night missed here n there). Not seeing much of a change, so hoping after getting through the 2nd bottle, I will be pleasantly surprised, as I so want this to work. I must make a comment re: the 2nd bottle received, the liquid is a much darker yellow color than the 1st bottle I received, not sure what that's about?? Dropper only fills about an inch high so have to keep filling it up which is a bit of a pain, & from the video on the website, not sure how you would put all the drops on your scalp & then start to massage it in, b/c it would be running all down your head. Really hoping this works & my thin spots of hair on my head start to fill in, will be a customer for life. Would really like to know why there was such a big color difference between the 2 bottles?? I like this serum because is not sticky or viscose like others that ate very oily. It actually delivers the result promised and I have noticed improvements in my son’s hair. Apparently, the main reason for his temporary thinning hair on the crown is stress related; however, this serum or tonic is actually helping with hair fortification and new growth. This serum is my holy grail for processed, bleached, fine, brittle hair. I love the whole series, especially hairmask and shampoo. But this particular product is a must for my fine hair! I love how it works to moisturize, detangle and make my hair shine and be silky smooth. I only apply it to the hair, not scalp. I am 48 and don’t have wrinkle or fine line, wanted an eye cream without spf for night use. Wasn’t expecting much as not sure what “lifting” means. When I style my hair with off the shelf serum the hairstyle lasts a day .. this serum is so good, only takes a little pinch so a lot little goes a long way and my blow dry ALWAYS turns out good and has staying power. This product is amazing! First and foremost, it smells heavenly! To be honest, that's the reason I first starting using it, because it made my hair smell great. My natural curl pattern had relaxed, and my hair just looks frizzy and lifeless. I tried putting more onto my ends, since they now look so blah, but it seemed to make it worse. Will have to wash again just to get this stuff out of my hair. Although it made my hair look worse, it does feel very soft, and I love the smell. Well… this product made me believe there is more to life than just simple haircare. Over and over it amazes me and makes my hair silky soft. A quick back story; I am a girl who looooves colouring my hair. I am naturally dark haired, but every spring I want to go a little lighter… And then a little lighter… And then a little bit more lighter. Until fall comes around and I want healthy dark hair. Copy-paste each year and yes, you guessed it, my hair needs a LOT of care. Long story short – At the beginning of quarantine I unfortunately ran out of this little fella. By then my hair felt so healthy that I thought I would save the money and just olaplex my way through Corona. However, even though I adore olaplex and cannot live without, my hair had gotten sad and the lack of haircuts had really gotten the best of my hair shine. Therefore I decided that I had to return to the promised land; Shu Uemura hair essence absolue midnight serum! And I have never looked back! However, I still do regret straying away from the known and effective brand of Shu Uemura. After the first use my hair felt like its healthy self again and now a week in, I am yet again a happy camper in the land of beautiful and healthy-looking hair. I highly recommend!malou.t
I just tried Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nurishing Taming Overnight Hair Serum and I feel like great, effective hair care is possible, it's just out of my price range. But as long as this bottle lasts, I'm going to enjoy having manageable hair. Details, my hair has been super, straw dry as long as I can remember. Dull, lifeless, embarrassing. I've tried everything in my price range. I'm getting ahead of myself. The serum's scent is the first thing you notice and my second favorite thing. It seems to be simply red camellia scented, which in my opinion smells like lilacs. It smells so powerful, like if beauty had a scent. I used 20 pumps last night over 12hrs ago and it still smells like I'm laying in a field of red camellias (or lilacs, I have never smelled a red camellia so don't judge based on my perception). The consistency is somewhere between a frizz taming lotion and a hair gloss serum and the 20 pumps almost reached every strand of my bra strap length beyond thick (it takes three boxes of hair dye) hair. The directions were… Not unclear, but not what I expected. I thought it would be something to saturate my hair and wash out in the morning, but I did as the directions said and a little extra. The average head, you could use maybe 5 pumps and it would've been sufficient. I have an extra dry scalp as well and I put so much of it directly on my scalp I expected to wake up full of oil. However, this morning my hair is not greasy, it's shinier and it has some life to it. Before application, I could hold a section of hair halfway and point the end up and it would go up. If I could afford Shu Uemura products, I'd be a complete convert. My advice, if you can afford this and you have concerns regarding frizz or dry hair, everyone can use this product. Even if you've got that thin, stick straight, limp hair. You might just need one pump though. The pics: the first was 2 days ago, prior to application and the second one is this morning. I love this serum! Seems to truly help with my breakage and smells AMAZING. I don't have issues with the pump like others have mentioned but I only use like a pea size amount since I have really fine hair. That seems to do the trick for me so the bottle is lasting me a long time also! It does leave my hair smooth and seems to really help with frizz. Will buy again!Alicia
The product is amazing. But for the actual amount of serum in the bottle, it's very expensive and doesn't go a long way. Also, the pump is bad. I have exchanged two bottles for the same reason and finally gave up. Please change the bottle & amount of serum in the bottle and this will be the best product in the market.X
First time user and I love the product!! Super smells goooood and nourishes my ends!! BUTTT. The bottle pump is the worst. I have to pump it 20x to get barely a penny size of product out it's so annoying. So I have to remove the pump and pound the bottle out on to my hand to use this.CK
