This is a nice serum. I only use it at night time, but have noticed a difference since I started adding it to my nighttime routine. When I wake up in the morning I notice that old spots have gone down and my overall skin texture has started to smooth out. My skin just looks bright in the morning compared to dull and just blah without this in my routine. I also use this on my neck at night. My neck had two discolored lines and they’ve gone down and overall smoothed out. The texture on my neck has dramatically smoothed out and I think a lot has to do with this serum. I use the brightening toner in the morning and this serum at night. I don’t put any other stuff on my neck other than my cleanser and moisturizer so I know my results are mainly from adding niacinamide. My neck looks like more of a match to my face, and when you’re aging like me matching my neck to my face is a good thing. Before I incorporated this to my routine my neck started showing pretty decent signs of aging. It was also discolored from left over tans in the past. So it helped make things more even. I wish I’d taken before photos to compare. Always cleansed and moisturised my skin with decent quality products but in January my skin was making me look old, it was dull and I was constantly battling texture, clogged pores on nose and build up of rough surface layer that looked dreadful under makeup. Now use a range of good molecules products and my skin looks smoother, brighter and more youthful. I’m not needing to rely on harsh physical exfoliants either. Started with niacinamide and once I knew my skin tolerates it I added the gentle retinol cream. These both improved my skin, recently added the pineapple exfoliating powder and vitamin C powder which further improved my skin. Squalane oil is nice to layer on afterwards to soothe skin. I'm very weary about trying out new skincare products after having dealt with hormonal and cystic acne from the ages of 16-20. Tbh, i am very confused right now. I bought tranexamic 3% + HPA serum for my marks along with 2% salicylic acid (love it) . Whenever i use them together on the same day . I don't know why i get new pimples on my skin and my marks are not fadding as well. But salicylic acid is just too good . I am out of words for salicylic acid. I am sooo much in love with that serum. I've been using this particular serum for about 40 days now. Now although 40days isn't that much of a long time as you should use any skincare product for atleast 2month but I feel I'm in a good position to write a review after using it for a little over a month. In short, yes this serum does help in fading your pigmentation. It takes time, after using it for over a month I didn't see all my acne marks go away but it has lightened significantly and I'm very happy about it. Been using this for about 1 month now, and I can say it has improved my hyper pigmentation and some sun spots, but just barely. I've seen some improvement, but nothing major. Niacinamide and Licorice Root are the two star ingredients here, and I think with continued use, you might see some results. My beef with this product is mostly with the packaging and the amount of product. The dropper just isn't great. When you first start using it, there's enough product in there for the dropper, but once you use more of it, it becomes harder to suction the product. The next thing is the lid. Everytime you place the dropper back, product is caught in the small opening and gets oozzed on the side. It goes to waste when there's already little of this product to being with. I've been scooping the dropper before I place it back, but sometimes I wonder if I'm contaminating the dropper. Overall, decent formulation, horrible packaging. Little to no scent, it does sting a little after applying but after checking multiple sources and many reviews, this is normal with retinol products. I have very sensitive skin so I imagine those with normal skin will not have any stinging.I dislike that CeraVe doesn’t disclose the amount of retinol percentage and instead gives a non-answer, but the tiny amount of retinol it has is indeed effective. I have sensitive and combination skin, parts are extremely dry and other parts are extremely oily. Many products break me out so I was hesitant to try this. I really did want to like this serum, but it did not do much, which is surprising considering the ingredients. Not only does it have 2% salicylic acid, but it also contains lactic acid. My skin has changed a lot throughout the past years. I personally as of now struggle with comedones. I was acne prone as a teenager and have gained clear skin through birth control as well as spironolactone. Still looking for something to get rid of these comedones. Using this was very good for comedones considering it dries out those follicles that way the excess oil and sebum will be prevented from clogging a pore. However, if you struggle with dry skin do not use this. Unless you are applying pure aloe vera and coconut oil on your face 3 times a day this is not the product for you. My nose started peeling and flaking after 2 days of using it. I only applied it once each 2 nights. So I started using the JUNO face oil each night and the U.F.O. some mornings, which definitely worked in my favor. I used to struggle with oily skin but with the spironolactone it has definitely taken away those oils. If you also use another acne treatment definitely do not do this because that can cause irritation and a reaction. If you struggle with pores, acne, and have oily skin then i definitely recommend this product. Definitely not good for normal or sensitive skin either.koszmar
This was my first product from Sunday Riley. It was recommended to me by the Real Skincare Discussion. I started to get more acne and breakouts as I got older, but I was put on prescription creams for them. I believe this is why my skin disliked this serum. I started very slowly with a small patch test, and when I worked up to my whole face, I broke out everywhere. Although I used the prescription cream and this serum at opposite times of the day, I think it was simply too much for my skin. Either that or my face cannot tolerate one or more of the ingredients. However, I have found that if I use it on body acne as a light spot treatment, it does help with size and redness. I have been using the serum on my boyfriend’s face instead (always putting it in my clean hands first) and any breakouts, clogged pores and blackheads have noticeably improved with this. He gets compliments on his skin all the time, but I don’t get any of the credit for introducing him to this or any type of skincare routine at all lol. Overall, definitely a great product to try if you have acne, blackheads, clogged pores and would like to clear up your skin without stripping it of moisture.veteranlover

This was my first OTC retinol product I started taking seriously and tried to be very diligent about applying it consistently. When I first started using it, it took a few days for my skin to react to the treatment and some new breakouts started to surface. This was pretty discouraging so I temporarily discontinued the serum and opted for a bakuchiol product to alleviate my sensitized skin. After several weeks of taking a break from the Resurfacing Retinol Serum, I decided to try it again. This time, it yielded more favorable results and I noticed I was breaking out less. I also decided to take photos of my skin in an attempt to document my journey. I've been alternating between this serum and OTC adapalene gel for about four months now and have seen a lot of progress in my skin. Years of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and erythema have faded along with decreased acne lesions. I've even noticed smoother skin, especially around my laugh lines. I started using this product to hopefully help with clearing up a breakout. I get cystic acne on my chin, and while I am on spironolactone, I did give my body a break. So, my skin LOVES lactic acid. I’ve used Amlactin body lotion religiously since my teens but until now, I had not found the perfect lactic acid formulation for my face. Well, this is it!!! This serum mixes & layers well with my nighttime moisturizer and other serums. The product is more of a thin lotion versus the watery consistency of other serums I use. It is hydrating and has not irritated my skin at all (although I don’t have sensitive skin and tolerate acids well). I’ve only used this for a few weeks so it’s hard to fully judge the resurfacing ability but I can tell I’ve had some textural improvements and my skin is so hydrated and glowy all the time now. I am still in my "trial phase" of the Biossance products… thank you, JVN for guiding me here. However, even for the very brief amount of time I've been using the Squalane + Lactic Acid Night Serum from my Overachievers Kit, I have seen impressive results. (By "brief", I mean a week.) I am cursed with milia, have been for years. They aren't obtrusive, but they can get to be a bit overwhelming when I look at myself in the mirror. One week, everyone… I've used the Squalane + Lactic Acid Serum for one week. And the milia are clearly leaving my face. The only ones that are left were the larger ones, and they are showing a 75% reduction from their former size. I expect that they will be gone in at least no more than another two weeks. My skin looks and feels so much softer and smoother, as well. There was a slight tingling the first couple of days I started using the product, however, that has diminished. I have been stunned by the shift, and expect to continue to use this product for the foreseeable future. If you're on the fence, I'd say to give it a go… it may work as well for you as it has for me. I will not lie, this is an expensive product. I originally got the product in a bundle so I was able to check it out without the full price the first time around. I have acne scars and texture on my face. I don't apply this every night, so my results are not crazy but I have noticed a huge improvement with my skin when I do apply this product. My skin becomes much clearer and has helped get rid of any oncoming acne. However, I do find this product is a bit drying. I don't know much about skin care or what not but I believe that is just part of the products ingredients. You can easily counteract this with some moisturizer (I usually wear an overnight cream mask when I use this). Only other thing I have noticed with this product is to check if you are really empty when the pump does not work. Usually there is still some product left over. I just pull the top off and grab a q-tip or something to get what is left (this stuff is pricey so best not to waste any). However, I truly believe that this is worth the money and it makes a noticable difference in my skin.chelseabirch

I’ve been struggling with awful maskne since the pandemic started. I have sensitive combo/oily skin and often break out with new products. Purchased this on a whim from Sephora and I’m so pleased with it! The formula is lightweight and absorbs quickly, layers beautifully with other products and makes my face feel super soft. I use this at night before bed and by the time I wake up, my pimples are almost completely gone with hardly any redness. The only thing I don’t like is the packaging. I dislike pump bottles because I feel like I never truly get to use up the full amount of product, there always seems to be a little extra stuck in the bottom that I can’t get to. NEW HOLY GRAIL. Got rid of all my other salicylic acid acne treatments and never going back! Background: I have very sensitive, combination skin with lots of redness. I also get hormonal chin breakouts and tiny acne patches where my mask is. This clears my skin up and keeps acne at bay better than any acne product I have ever used. The niacinamide also helps so much with keeping my skin calm and redness down. It takes two pumps for my entire face, is lightweight, and sinks in so quickly. Small bottle but as previous reviewers state, a little does go a long way. It absorbs quickly and I really like the smell. Moisturiser sinks in quickly after and skin is left soft. Some acne serums/creams I’ve tried previously are too drying and although I suffer from blemishes and blocked pores frequently I don’t have really oily skin so using them just dried my skin out and made it feel awful. This I can use daily and my skin feels great. I’m not sure it’s overly prevented new spots yet, but it’s certainly no worse. I have been using this product consistently for the past 2 months and have not seen any results. I found that when I applied it before my moisturiser it actually made me breakout but when I applied it on top of my moisturiser I experienced no breakouts. The only good thing about this product is that it wasn't really irritating and I have very sensitive skin – I used it on the inside of my legs so maybe it might be different if used on the face. I'm quite disappointed as this is the second product that I bought from face theory that has not worked for me yet there are so many good reviews about this product. I don't get how?? My girlfriend has pushed through her mental health and as a result her arms and legs were ruined and full of self harm scars. She was getting really insecure about herself so i was having a look round at pretty much anything for her. I was prepared to buy anything and try anything. I bought this after reading the reviews, nobody mentioned self harm scars so I'm writing this for anyone with the same query or going through the same problem. We took pictures of her arms and legs everyday to see the improvements, I'm not posting them here as its far too invasive for her. But after day 1 there was immense improvement, the skin had gotten less red, the bumpiness of her skin had significantly decreased. We assumed the effects of this oil would wear off after about a week but she has been using it daily after her bath on dry clean skin for about 2 months now. Everyday there has been improvement. I'm happy to say that 90% of the scars have gone. There are a few deeper marks that remain but they're also very nearly gone. I've noticed the scars themselves get smaller in length and in width, they don't have a bump there anymore and the actual scar changes colour to the tone of your skin. They're all pretty much gone, another month maybe and all of them will have disappeared, I'm ecstatic with this product and I've never seen my girlfriend with as much confidence as she has now because they're quite simply not visible anymore. Anyone going through the same problem, this is a miracle product! As a side note, the oil makes the skin easier to burn, my girlfriend puts on far more sun cream than usual and she is absolutely unharmed!J
Looove this as my evening oil. Retinol and sun are not best friends so I just put it on at night and it’s lush! My skin says thank you. It’s smoother by a long shot. The oil when put on dry skin is think but it absorbs and feels Pleasant. The smell is neutral, a tiny bit nutty if your sense of smell is good enough to detect the borage oil in the background. I hate to give this a 1 star because it actually works. It doesn’t break my skin out or burn, and it actually evened out my skin tone and made it smoother. Why the negative review then? I can not in all good conscience recommended this to anyone I know or a stranger because the price per portion is absolutely insane. $24 for 0.5oz?!! I read reviews before purchasing this product and read that it smelled awful, but I thought it couldn’t possibly be that bad. No, it’s terrible. So bad that the first time applying it I nearly threw up about 3 times with it sitting on my face. HOWEVER, the applications after the first weren’t bad at all and I was used to it. I promise after the first run it’s not bad and it’s completely worth your time. This product makes my skin glow for real. I’ve only experienced a very small purge that was literally nothing compared to how my face reacts to other skincare products typically. First the packaging is very cathy because of the light blue boxing and labels. This is a different type of drops bottle that I've seen before. Very wide enough for more product. And made of glass. Directions were well easy to understand as well as the ingredients etc. The dropper is made of glass as well and holds a lot of product when using. I apply this serum twice a week in my morning and night skincare routine after cleaningand toner. The scent is very very much citrus and just like squeezed oranges. The texture is runny so be careful! But thickens up a bit when rubbed in. Glides on pretty well and not too oily. I would recommend using sparsely you don't want to be super moisturized. You can definitely notice right away the moisture from this serum. My skin feels very hydrated, soft and breathable. No hars scents, over drying, oiliness nor breakouts. I have hopes to notice my dark spots disappearing soon but we shall see in due time. Overall, I believe this serum can be a game changer for me. I'm in my mid 30s, workout 2+ hours daily, and needed something that would help with acne, lines, etc. I have very oily skin and living in So. Florida doesn't make it any better. I've tried many products including Estee Lauder, Clinique, Origins, etc. Origins worked well for my face but about a month or so ago I started breaking out horribly on my forehead, cheeks, and chin. I was having issues with dry patches on my skin due to harsh winter weather and my moisturizers weren't seeming to help at all. I had been exfoliating with a scrub once weekly and that helped somewhat, but I definitely still had texture issues when I was applying makeup. I decided to buy a product with a chemical exfoliant but I didn't want to spend too much money, so I decided on this. It has helped tremendously. I use it about twice weekly because my skin is sensitive, but this combined with the skyn Iceland arctic face oil has really rescued my skin. It is somewhat sticky but that doesn't bother me because I put it on at night before bed and after about 10 minutes I put an oil on top. A lot of these reviews say there's a bad smell but perhaps that was an old formula because it just smells like grapefruit. I think it's a really great value for the money. Getting older has not allowed me to move past my problematic skin. For some reason, my pores get congested despite the extra care I give my skin. In fact, I am going through a phase where they are congested more than usual. Plus, my skin can turn red and sensitive with rosacea bumps without warning despite attention to what I eat and cleansing thoroughly and treating and hydrating carefully. I take care not to over-cleanse (mindful of water temp and stick with all non-fragrance products) or over-exfoliate or pile on too many active ingredients. Still, I was having issues getting things under control. I had tried the 4%BHA foam to gel serum that was discontinued and it was just OK. So I didn't jump on the reformulated version. I should have! I ordered the Advanced Pore-Refining Treatment 4% BHA and Wow! It cleared my congested pores quickly. Within 24 hours I noticed a difference and after using 2X a day, for a few more days, the angry little bumps and congested pores, mostly on the chin and around my mouth, started to disappear, the texture improved, and it did not dry out my skin. The antioxidants make a huge difference, too. My skin has a nice healthy, rosy glow, requiring much less makeup. It's smoother, softer, more even-toned, and making it part of my regular routine has kept the pores clear and they appear tighter. I am 52 y/o and have combo/oily skin. I no longer have break outs (Thank God), but I have blackheads and clogged pores on my nose, forehead, and chin. I've used the PC 2% for a couple of years and have been happy with the results, but I wanted to try a more powerful BHA and see what the results look like. I've tried the product for a week at night and the results have been positive so far. I definitely see an improvement in my pores and my skin looks more radiant the next morning. What don't I like? The texture. To me, it's thick and greasy feeling. I'm stunned by the number of reviews from people with oily skin that rave about this product and the texture. This product is gold. I've struggled with a lot more acne than I ever had before after moving to a humid climate. My pores were always congested, my face would have been a worthy investment for an oil baron, my forehead was covered in tiny bumps, and I had at least one new whitehead every week in addition to an increase in standard flare ups. It was a nightmare. I've been trying to get my skin back to normal for months since then, but between the new sweat, stress, and layers of concealer and powder every day, my skin just could not get a break. Enter Paula's Choice BHA! I purchased the 4% while a promotion was running and also got a travel sized 2% BHA to try as well. I tried the 4% first. I put a thin layer over my entire face (for me that's four pumps – note that a pump is not the same as a dropper-full) before bed and washed it off the next morning. And voila! I saw instant results! So, I have had a sneaking suspicion that I may be in the 1% of people that have a sensitivity to niacinamide, and unfortunately this whole line proved my theory right. I used the entire line for a few weeks, and everything felt wonderful, but I found my skin getting red, rough and sensitive the longer I used them. I had to discontinue use, but I think if you are in the majority of the population this would be an excellent daytime brightening serum. It was lightweight, absorbed well, laid well under other products, no fragrance, and good ingredients, so I still give it a 4 star rating, but I have gifted the whole line to my boyfriend, so hopefully he’ll start a skincare regimen.marisol.m
I’ve purchased this product 3 times and have been happy with it. I’m 39 with some fine lines. I wouldn’t call my skin oily exactly, but I do often have trouble with new face products making me breakout. I chose this product as it was supposed to be good for acne prone skin, and even help keep pimples away. On this front it has been great. No breakouts. It also has several face brightening ingredients I was looking for in a daily serum, at a modest price point. It has a nice consistency. It does not leave my skin sticky at all; it does not “pill” with my other face products as others have mentioned. I usually use this and then Olay Daily Moisturizer Sensitive (this also does not cause breakouts). I often use a little tinted BB cream as well. If I’m dressing up, I will use a face primer before the BB cream. I haven’t noticed that my skin is particularly radiant, but I also haven’t felt it was dull.Kasey
At first I was using this product only at night but realized the directions said to apply during the day. After doing this and wearing my Aveeno spf moisturizer I’ve been really enjoying! I put this on immediately after washing my face and wait about a minute for it to soak into my skin. Feels slightly tacky at first but that disappears. This product is AMAZING, BUT there is a caveat. Often times when I buy this product it seems spoiled, like how vitamin C can go bad if not kept correctly. The product should be a light orangey color, but when it's gone off it's a darker orange. I've used this for years and return it before I even walk out of the store most times because I know to check to see if it is bad/old/whatever is going on with it. If you do get a good bottle, you'll be writing a great review, trust me. But if I got my first bottle or two and it was sticky and smelled odd, and didn't do what others claimed it would, of course I would be skeptical too. 75% of the bottles I buy, whether Sephora or Ulta, are always bad. This is one of those products that you didn't know you needed until you try it. This is a very high quality serum that I received a sample of. My skin is mature with fine lines, very dry, and prone to acne breakouts. As instructed I placed three or four drops in my hand and applied it to my face. It easily spread over my skin and my skin absorbed it quickly and it left it feeling extremely smooth It even looked better after the first application. So far I really love what I'm seeing with this product. I applied a light nighttime moisturizer afterwards so far I have not broken out and my skin already looks a lot better. I am someone who takes care of their skin or at least I thought I was but this product may be something that I will add to my regimen. It contains some wonderful anti-aging properties such as vitamin c and retinol. I got this sample of Multi-Action Super-C Retinol Brighten and Correct Vitamin C Serum from @strivectin months ago I've been using it for over a couple of months, so now it's time to give my honest opinion. I'm usually incredibly sensitive to Retinol, so I was hesitant about trying this at first. It's actually very, very gentle. Idk the % of Retinol, but I did start off slowly. I used it 2X a week, then built up to 3-4X a week. I do feel a slight warming sensation after applying it, but it does go away after about 5 min or less. The serum has a strong scent to it, like a strong citrus type scent, but it does go away after about 2 mins. It's a thick, orange serum that will feel tacky at first, but it does absorb into your skin. I put on toner first, then this serum, then a thick, moisturizing cream to keep my skin calm. I have noticed a more even texture to my skin my skin just looks overall more healthy than it did before. I have quite a bit of serum left (you only need a drop or 2), so if any changes happen, I'll update. Note: I had absolutely NO purging, dryness or redness when using this serum. If you're not used to Retinol, start off slowly. 1-2X a week, then work your way up.
