20 Best Serum For Uneven Skin Tone (Jan 2023 Update)

I had been buying the UFO oil for a few years and while I liked how it felt on my skin, I didn't notice a huge difference. My mom let me try her Good Genes one time and I loved the instant plumping effect and dewy finish. I ended up splurging on my own bottle and so far it's definitely been worth it. I have ridiculously finicky skin that breaks out if the wind blows the wrong way but I haven't had any issues with this product (or any Sunday Riley products for that matter). I've been using Good Genes for a few months now and it seems to have helped even my skin tone. I'm 22 so I bought it to just generally improve the appearance of my skin, but my mom really likes using it in combination with a retinol for wrinkles. The main thing I love is that immediate improvement you can see– the day after using it, my skin is always bouncy and glowing. I use it a few times a week, and I don't need too much to cover my face and neck, so I think the bottle will probably last me a while. Either way, I think it's worth it. It's definitely the best Sunday Riley product I've tried so far (as compared to UFO oil, Lunar oil, and CEO serum).hrbeach

The reviews are true. This is amazing stuff. It helps to keep my complexion nice, free and clear of zits. But you definitely need to do a double cleanse before applying oils and serums, and layering this on top. It has a bit of a strong smell with thick consistency, and definitely stings until you get used to it. I was unsure but it took about 10 days for me to start seeing results. This is definitely something that sensitive skin folks will have to build up to, I used to use it every other day as part of my nighttime skin care routine. Now I use it every day, morning and night. It sloughs dead skin cells off very gently, and works really well under moisturizer. My skin looks fresher, younger, and my acne seems to be more under control. I have several different sizes of it, including the super jumbo size that I bought during a holiday sale at Macy’s.rosie.k

When I discovered this line and this product years ago I was hooked. Good genes was exactly what the doctor ordered when it came to my skin. It was lovely and worked so well. Skin was dewy, brighter, hydrated and my skin looked better and better. Makeup set perfectly on top of it. I could tolerate it from the first smear. I showed it daily and stocked up during sales. NOT THE NEW FORMULA. I don't know what changed exactly. But first wear with this new formula and I broke out with cystic acne. Yes I know that hormones etc can cause cyclic cystic acne. But this was from the product. I even continued to use it with the same results. Then I even tried it as a mask with the clay cleanser thinking my skin somehow became too sensitive for good genes. Well the same acne came around again!. so disappointed… That's around the time when I realized they changed the product formula. It feels the same going on and my skin looks good and bright and hydrated like the old formula, But it has caused the worst cysts and acne on my face:(Killpretty

Works quickly and gently on my stubborn, years old dark spots and hyperpigmentation that I haven't been able to get off with lactic acid, mandelic acid, or glycolic acid. I'm black with extremely sensitive, hyper-pigmentation prone skin with years of hyperpigmentation that I haven't been able to remove with other products. This is fading acne-related spots from over a decade ago and I'm able to see results overnight. It's so expensive that I wouldn't have tried it if I didn't get a free sample first. I was really shocked at how well it works, considering the lower rating. I can literally see a visible difference overnight or by the end of the day when I apply it in the morning. The one drawback is that the formula is packed with silicone. There's way too much in it. When I apply it straight, I can end up just rolling the silicone off. That's fine but I have to thin the serum down with milky essences when applying during the day – even then it's easy for it to pill. I'll still give it five stars just because of how amazingly fast it works on old super dark spots and how gentle it is. I haven't been able to get rid of my dark spots, partially because my skin is too sensitive to use lactic or glycolic acids at high concentrations and is already very sun sensitive on its own. I'm combining it with alpha arbutin and niacinamide from the ordinary and tranexamic acid from the Inkey list and it's working even faster. This serum does all the heavy lifting while the others help boost my overall skin's appearance. It's my most expensive skincare product even though I bought it on one of the 30% off sales, but I don't mind paying that price. My hyperpigmentation right now is lighter than it used to look after I would cover it up with concealer and foundation and still have some showing through. Plus zero rashes or sensitivity. Love it. I have sun spots/hyperpigmentation that began about 6 years ago with a quarter-sized spot on my forehead, but has now spread to both cheeks and above my lips, with dark splotches that create a mustache-like shadow. I started using this product 2x daily, once in the morning and once at night, after cleansing and before applying my moisturizer and it took around 3 months to finish the bottle (I bought the largest size). One con is that my skin feels very slick after I used the product, like I've used a silicone-based primer. But! I would rather deal with a strange-feeling product that mustache-looking hyperpigmentation so I pressed on. I didn't notice any difference with the hyperpigmentation for about the first month, but after that I began noticing a big difference on my cheeks as the large splotches started looking as though they were "breaking apart"… they were actually shrinking quite a lot. By the end of the second month, the change was dramatic and even moreso by the time I finished the bottle – my apples of cheeks matched the rest of my skin tone for the first time in years. Coincidentally, I finished the bottle on the same day we finally had nice sunny weather and I spent several hours outside working on our backyard renovation. Even though I used 50+ SPF sunscreen that said it was formulated specifically for people with hyperpigmentation, by the end of the day two splotches on each cheek had noticeably, dramatically darkened. I did some reading and learned that those of us with melisma/hyperpigmentation/sun spots need to use a mineral barrier sunscreen rather than a chemical barrier sunscreen, especially when using products that are working to fade the hyperpigmentation. Apparently the chemical-barrier formulas can react with other products and create more pigmentation. Lesson learned! I'm going to get a second bottle of this and pair with a mineral barrier sunscreen and a brimmed hat the next time I'm in the sun. I've felt increasingly insecure about my blotchy skin tone and don't want to undo the progress this product has made.Christina

I found this vitamin C serum to be a fantastic replacement or alternative to the serum I've been using. I like to try a lot of different products rather than stick to just one, and this is one of the better I have tried. I do not like a chemical smell and to me this did not smell the chemicals. It also absorbs quickly, and there was no sticky. A lot of different serums feel sticky for a few minutes and then absorb, or leave a film on the skin. This is not sticky, it absorbs well, and I still use it on occasion. I have skin that stops benefiting from specific potions, which is why switching it up is perfect for me.Kimmeuto

I have received trial mini packs of TruSkin Vitamin C serum as a part of their promotion. However, this review is solely based on my honest opinion and experience with this product. I have SUPER SENSITIVE skin. And I have not found a vitamin C serum that suits my skin yet. I have used this a few times, at night, after washing and toning. And then layered with moisturizer. My skin started irritating after a few minutes giving me the feel of itchiness. And the next day, it did not give me the radiant glow like other vitamin C serums would. So, for me it was not a success. People who have very sensitive skin, I'd recommend them to use the trial version first, see how your skin likes it, before buying the full-size. I think It bye bye dark spot works for me. I got few dark spots after I gave birth to my second daughter. Therefore I started using Kiehls dark spot. That took me at least 2 bottles to start working on my skin and then I added it to my collection. I came across IT dark spot when I was at Ulta. Since the price is really reasonable, I bought a 1oz bottle to try. The texture of this serum is more watery than K brand. It has a nice scent but does not last long. Normally after I finish applying my whole face the scent has already gone. It is easy to apply and absorbs well. I usually put the serum on my dark spots area only and massage the area for couple seconds each day. After finishing the whole bottle, I did notice my dark spots are lighter than before. I will buy another bottle and hope it can give me a even better result I am looking for. For the price, I cannot complain anything.crystal.s

As a person working in beauty, I’m pleasantly surprised with the potency! I love this serum! It reminds me a bit of CE Ferulic from Skinceuticals, just way cheaper lol. People are complaining it’s watery but what they don’t realize is that silicones and fillers in other products makes serums hydrating or thicker in texture, those things actually lower the effectiveness in vitamin c but this product doesn’t have those ingredients inside.

I literally see a difference in my skin in one use. It’s definitely an active vitamin c, it stings a bit, not unbearable though. I see a difference in hyperpigmentation if I use after I exfoliate at night and use spf during the day (spf is non-negotiable if you want to get rid of dark spots).

So I was looking in the mirror in the car just before a meeting and thought to myself oh Lordy, my pores are so visible so before the meeting I ordered this, I’ll admit I didn’t do much research I just read the description on here and thought right I’ll give it a go. Was in a bit of rush, but thought I need to try something!!! Went to my meeting and went home, never give it another thought it until it arrived. Waited until the night cleansed my face and used as directed no stinging no nothing really went to bed, repeated it for a couple of days and OMG this evening noticed my skin, it’s so much cleaner looking, it has caused a few spots but I think that’s because it’s riding my skin of all the blocked pores, even with these few spots my skin looks better. So would I recommend? Absolutely I would, I’m not even into the two weeks as they say noticeable difference by then and I’m already impressed. I have to say the reviews surprised me. I've been using this serum with my routine for 3 weeks now and can only say good things. My skin is very dry and dehydrated. I'm in my 40s with some old sun damage and fine lines and my goal was to help heal my pregnancy melasma and help texture and lines. I use a korean essense first, followed by this niacinamide serum, vitamin c serum, a moisturizing ceramide toner and a moisturizing sunscreen every day and use a peptide-cerimide mousurizer unstead of sunscreen at night. The only thing I changed 3 weeks ago was switching out my old hyaluronic acid serum for this product. My skin is glowing. Im noticing a slow decrease in the extra texture and "patchiness" and keep getting complimented by friends who see it too. I saw a change after my 2nd time.

I too have fallen for the Niacinamide fad that had happened on Insta and have tried my share of different Niacinamide serums. The @naturium serum is by far my favorite stand alone Niacinamide product. It checks off everything in the box, high percentage, formulated with Zinc, works well with layering. It shows a visible difference in my skin when used consistently. The other ingredients include, Propanediol, Glycerin, Zinc PCA, Vitamin E, by and Sodium Hyaluronate. Zinc is supposedly an antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and regulates oil. It also shows to protect and aid in wound healing and regeneration. This is why Zinc Oxide is so often found in high performing sunscreens, as it can reflect the sun and it creates a barrier between the skin and any damaging UV rays. I hate to give this a 1 star because it actually works. It doesn’t break my skin out or burn, and it actually evened out my skin tone and made it smoother. Why the negative review then? I can not in all good conscience recommended this to anyone I know or a stranger because the price per portion is absolutely insane. $24 for 0.5oz?!! That’s ridiculous, and the larger one is even a higher mark up. The Ordinary makes an equally great one for 1.0oz and it’s like $16. Change the price or make it bigger. I read reviews before purchasing this product and read that it smelled awful, but I thought it couldn’t possibly be that bad. No, it’s terrible. So bad that the first time applying it I nearly threw up about 3 times with it sitting on my face. HOWEVER, the applications after the first weren’t bad at all and I was used to it. I promise after the first run it’s not bad and it’s completely worth your time. This product makes my skin glow for real. I’ve only experienced a very small purge that was literally nothing compared to how my face reacts to other skincare products typically. First the packaging is very cathy because of the light blue boxing and labels. This is a different type of drops bottle that I've seen before. Very wide enough for more product. And made of glass. Directions were well easy to understand as well as the ingredients etc. The dropper is made of glass as well and holds a lot of product when using. I apply this serum twice a week in my morning and night skincare routine after cleaningand toner. The scent is very very much citrus and just like squeezed oranges. The texture is runny so be careful! But thickens up a bit when rubbed in. Glides on pretty well and not too oily. I would recommend using sparsely you don't want to be super moisturized. You can definitely notice right away the moisture from this serum. My skin feels very hydrated, soft and breathable. No hars scents, over drying, oiliness nor breakouts. I have hopes to notice my dark spots disappearing soon but we shall see in due time. Overall, I believe this serum can be a game changer for me. I've been struggling with acne and mainly acne scars for about 3 years now. I've tried different kinds of medication, different kinds of skincare products and so many other methods, and nothing worked. I wouldn't say this magically cleared my skin up, but it did help my acne scars fade a lot more. I saw the dermatologist at the beginning of the pictures, and somehow it made my skin worse and hurt a lot. I decided to stop seeing the dermatologist and started using this instead. let me start by saying I've had a very troubled skin since i was a kid which leaves me with very scarred face, full of red, purple and brown marks which take months or years to fade (despite using various products, hydrating cleansing exfoliating, you name it). I have been religiously using this serum every day (once or twice a day, it depends) for two weeks now and oh boy, it works wonders! When I was taking pictures for the eye products recent pos, I noticed how many new dark spots I have gotten and how uneven my skin was… I use sunscreen daily but I spend time outside and the sun is very strong where we live. I had to come up with a new skin regimen to address this issue: I have been using a brightening serum every morning and a brightening mask a couple of times a week. I love the product a bit pricey but I was lucky I got it cheap on black Friday. I have pigmentation and I took pics before and after. This is an excellent product for my skin, it truly makes a difference to the texture and clarity of my 59 year old skin. I have used many serums and this one is one of the best and still reasonably priced for what it does for my skin. I saw the difference every time I ran out of the product so now i have at least one spare bottle. The reward system on EL website is also very nice, so I now wait for the gift time to make a purchase. Of all EL products this is the one I am most dependent on and would hate it to be superseded by another product. I received sample of this product a while back, but I was using a different Vitamin C serum at the time. I just tried this product the past couple of days. I applied the product after cleansing my face and applying a toner that I allowed to dry. I only used a small amount and initially thought it applied very nicely. It gave me a bit of a dewy look. As it dried and fully absorbed, I found that it made my skin feel really tacky. I waited a few minutes to apply moisturizer, but my skin still felt a bit sticky. I woke up the next morning and my skin looked dry and a bit flakey not hydrated like it generally does. The samples were very small so, of course, I won't be able to fully review the effects or benefits. However, just from testing the product a couple times I can see this is not the product for me. I love the Roc revive and glo jel cream as a rule. I am 64. It instantly makes me look fresh and awake. It has a light orange fragrance that is not heavy or offensive. I recently bought this Roc C cream. It came from an outside seller at $22. It was odd, to say the least. Wrong smell, shrinking away from the sides of the jar. I compared it to my last jar. It wasn't even close. I contacted the number for Roc on the package. Weird call! Zero customer service. A girl at home in her jammies. Extremely unprofessional. She looked it up and said it was 2 years and 4 months old. I didn't want to use old dubious stuff on my face. I wanted a refund or coupons for a new product. I washed my face with just water. I used the Roc Vitamin C Serum the Roc 5-1 correcting moisturizer w/ spf 30. This is a 1 1/2 week difference. W O W !!! This stuff is amazing. Products are a little pricier at $18-30 compared to other brands (depending on where you buy) BUT ITS WORTH IT. My complexion has gotten more even. Bumps are softer. Texture is smoother. Hyperpigmentation fading. I use 4 drops AM & PM. Goes on well and doesn’t feel greasy at all.AAA

This product is AMAZING, BUT there is a caveat. Often times when I buy this product it seems spoiled, like how vitamin C can go bad if not kept correctly. The product should be a light orangey color, but when it's gone off it's a darker orange. I've used this for years and return it before I even walk out of the store most times because I know to check to see if it is bad/old/whatever is going on with it. If you do get a good bottle, you'll be writing a great review, trust me. But if I got my first bottle or two and it was sticky and smelled odd, and didn't do what others claimed it would, of course I would be skeptical too. 75% of the bottles I buy, whether Sephora or Ulta, are always bad. This is one of those products that you didn't know you needed until you try it. This is a very high quality serum that I received a sample of. My skin is mature with fine lines, very dry, and prone to acne breakouts. As instructed I placed three or four drops in my hand and applied it to my face. It easily spread over my skin and my skin absorbed it quickly and it left it feeling extremely smooth It even looked better after the first application. So far I really love what I'm seeing with this product. I applied a light nighttime moisturizer afterwards so far I have not broken out and my skin already looks a lot better. I am someone who takes care of their skin or at least I thought I was but this product may be something that I will add to my regimen. I got this sample of Multi-Action Super-C Retinol Brighten and Correct Vitamin C Serum from @strivectin months ago I've been using it for over a couple of months, so now it's time to give my honest opinion. I'm usually incredibly sensitive to Retinol, so I was hesitant about trying this at first. It's actually very, very gentle. Idk the % of Retinol, but I did start off slowly. I used it 2X a week, then built up to 3-4X a week. I do feel a slight warming sensation after applying it, but it does go away after about 5 min or less. The serum has a strong scent to it, like a strong citrus type scent, but it does go away after about 2 mins. It's a thick, orange serum that will feel tacky at first, but it does absorb into your skin. I put on toner first, then this serum, then a thick, moisturizing cream to keep my skin calm. I have noticed a more even texture to my skin my skin just looks overall more healthy than it did before. I have quite a bit of serum left (you only need a drop or 2), so if any changes happen, I'll update. Note: I had absolutely NO purging, dryness or redness when using this serum. If you're not used to Retinol, start off slowly. 1-2X a week, then work your way up. For anyone looking to diminish crows feet YOU NEED TO GET SKINMEDICA TNS RECOVER OR ESSENTIAL SERUM!!! My crows feet are nearly Gone! The key is to use it twice a day. Even if you use it once a day, you will see the results, it would just take longer. In two weeks, about 20-30% decreased. In four weeks, they diminished another 40-50%. I've been now using it for a month and a half and they are nearly done. I am not kidding, any of the growth growth factors in it for the face, you can use under the eyes as well. CE Ferulic is a beautiful serum. Amongst other ascorbic acid serums, CE Ferulic is pleasant to use, despite also having a hot dog water smell (standard for ascorbic acid) it is subtle and bearable compared to other products. CE Ferulic is also very moisturising on my skin. It is even okay to use on its own without moisturiser sometimes. CE Ferulic gives my skin great luminosity and radiance. However, it does not have an impact on pigmentation (by this point in time I have used Skinceutical's vitamin C serum continuously for around 12 weeks). I see CE Ferulic as more of a maintenance serum rather than a life-changing serum. It did provide a good luminosity to my skin, however it certainly did not have the same wow factor as compared to, say for example, Skinceutical's Silymarin CF. However, for a good maintenance serum I think $233 is overpriced compared to what is otherwise available in the market. I am also not sure why, with this hefty price tag, the serum does not come in an airless pump and opaque bottle given that ascorbic acid is so prone to oxidising. I am not really enjoying the dropper bottle format but I have been storing this in the dark in my drawer and wrapped in foil. It has not oxidised. Overall, yes I would purchase but only as part of a bundle and/or with gift with purchase.BELL A.

I had heard about SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic from friends, and remained very skeptical, thinking: right, right, sure, sure. Their skin always looked fresh and healthy. But, still I didn't buy the product. Then, I read a laugh out loud review online by a dermatologist, Christina Haverstock, who said that “They will pry Skinceuticals CE Ferulic from my cold, dead hands.” Okay, okay, I'll try it. So, I was given a bottle, and low and behold, it worked wonders. My mature, patchy skin began to look really actually very good. Then, I ran out. I realized that C E Ferulic had actually been a game changer for my skin. My skin was smoother, softer, spots were disappearing (I had planned to have one removed but the serum took care of that), and my botox lasted much longer. So, I decided to try a LovelySkin order after a long absent when they sent me a note in the mail (smart move on their part). I ordered a bottle of C E Ferulic on discount (yay!), ordered another SkinCeuticals product (I couldn't help it), and got other samples as well (temptation); the products arrived quickly and well packaged. This is a long review to say that I don't use very many products, but this one serum, C E Ferulic, is a product that truly makes a difference for me. I actually get comments about how nice my skin looks, and that's really something when one is over 70. Because of this, I will not lapse again. Bought this for my acne hyperpigmentation after seeing all the great reviews. I have hormonal acne which usually means that I break out on a monthly based around that time of the month. However, I got prescribed medication for this earlier this year and I barely every break out anymore. So I introduced this serum into my skincare now that it's clearer to start working on those marks. I first tried this for about 3 weeks and was breaking out constantly so I gave it a break and thought maybe it's another serum I started around the same time. So I waited a month to try this again and I put some twice in a row at night only and woke up with crazy acne. I literally take medication that internally controls my acne so I knew what I had used externally was the problem. Not sure what it is with the serum but it was the culprit of my random breakouts. I wish it had worked for me but I couldn't try it long enough, I don't have the time to deal with bumps right now and don't really want new scarring either.Nicolep

This is an update to my review in August. My first bottle was purchased in June of 2021. I had EXTREMELY bad hyperpigmentation. When I used the combo of the Niacinamide toner and this serum, in 6-8 weeks, my skin was completely cleared up. After the serum was gone, I used the toner a few times a week, because it was all I needed with my clear skin. I’m a picker when I’m under stress, so I purchased another set last month and I knew after a few weeks, something was definitely different. The results weren’t the same. I know this formula has changed. I’m sure you don’t care, but this was the first serum that I found that worked for African American dark skin. Reading some of the reviews, I’m quite sure that you don’t listen to your customers, as I see plenty have stated that they’ve experienced minimal results and you haven’t changed it back to the original formula. Although the claim by the company is that you’ve improved the formula, you didn’t. Sometimes, stronger isn’t better, especially when there’s a breakdown in the quality of this new formulation. This has been one of the best serums I have ever used on my skin!! I have a history of horrific acne, and as it’s been clearing up, this has been a game changer for my routine. With consistent use, I see results within weeks, and this is coming from someone who has tried EVERYTHING. I dermarolled, got frequency facials, changed my diet, took tons of supplements, natural facials, all kinds of chemical facials, and have used countless products for treating my acne and the hyperpigmentation scars left behind, and nothing has worked as well as this has for me. If you’re hesitant, just give it a try (and give it time to work)! Acne is so frustrating already, and even worse what it leaves behind, so be patient, show your skin some TLC, cut down on the number of products you use and just focus on the basics. After seeing some videos on TikTok, and being a major serum lover, I bought this serum. I’ve tried a LOT of serums, but this completely transformed my skin. I came here to write a rave review, but was shocked to learn this is a dark spot serum!? I was recommended this product by a sephora rep who also has bad dry skin like me. OMG it is SO GOOD! I have horrible dry skin, especially in the winter. This serum helped me FLAWLESSLY SURVIVE BOSTON WINTER this past year! I will say, I use several drops each use and therefore the bottle only lasts me about 1.5-2months, but personally, the money spent is worth it because I have never found a product that kept my skin so hydrated as this one. …and I am still going to buy 2 more right now, even after learning its main focus isnt hydration!? Its taken me years to accomplish some form of survival with my dry skin on my face. Using oil based makeup remover plus a milky cleaner and then THIS serum, all at night, has been a life changer for me. I also really love The Ordinary Marine Hylaronics! I will also periodically pair with different face masks before bed, but more often than not a cheaper hydrating sheet mask from amazon suffices. Again, i use 2-4 drops of this on my face by pressing all over. I often do 1-2 more drops in the morning before makeup. Sale rep who initially introduced me to this said product should last 6 months– that is nowhere the case for me, but the extra drops/running out before a 2 month mark, is my survival goal, so! I may have been living under a rock somewhere all this while to not know such a product exist! Like whaaaaat?I have hyperpigmentation issues due to being stupid about not religiously wearing sunscreen in my younger years. I thought being in my late 40’s, it’s just too late to fix it except wear sunscreen every day to avoid further damage. But I may have found the right one despite being late to the game. This coupled with Nudestix/Nudeskin Citrus C Yuzu Turmeric cream and Kora Noni Glow oil has helped with my quest to return my skin to its former glory. I’m not there yet but the journey has begun. The first time I used this was in a sample and I watched my skin literally drink this in as I applied it. My skin immediately felt softer and smoother and I had to buy it. Makes my skin dewy and more youthful but it also gives me patches of breakouts. I almost never get breakouts so it’s very annoying but I really do like the fresh look of my skin otherwise. Wish that wasn’t an unfortunate side effect on my particular skin but I’m sure it’s different for everyone. I really do like the formula a lot even though it smells a little bit like mayonnaise to me. Wish I could honestly give it 5 stars, I just hate the breakouts so much. This product is amazing and worth every penny. I'll say right off the bat I was deterred for a very long time to purchase any drunk elephant products due to price regardless of being a clean skin care product junkie. I've had problematic skin ever since puberty and now I'm 27. My acne has always been a huge issue. I have combination oily acne prone skin that's also sensitive. The Sephora employee at the store was actually super understanding about the price but still wanted to give me the best advice, which I appreciated. I was looking for something to exfoliate my skin. Something not too harsh but gets the job done and also has clean ingredients. I had tried physical exfoliants and chemical exfoliants including the ordinary aha-bha mask, alpyn beauty aha face wash (which I still love but only during certain seasons and that was before I tried this), as well as some physical face exfoliants like caudalie's exfoliating face wash (which both me and my husband like but he has dry skin, which is very different from mine so it worked better for him). The Sephora employee gave me a free sample of this. If it wasn't for that free sample I would have never bought it. It changed my skin for the better. I have way less acne these days it's amazing. I don't like the packaging. The top has become unattached and it's a pain to get the product out of the bottle now. I don't like the slide top packaging. I wish for something more simple. But the product is honestly so amazing, it still gets 5 stars. This is the only drunk elephant product I use.tigahlily

I ordered the drunk elephant protini polypeptide after receiving a deluxe sample of it. I ordered the full size to take advantage of a sale, and I didn’t open it until a few months after ordering, because I was still finishing off the deluxe sample. Unfortunately the packaging did not work, and is unable to be pumped out of the package. It is still full and unable to be used. I exclusively use drunk elephant on my skin, and I have reordered drunk elephant's other products many times, have never had this issue with any of their other serums. Sephora customer service was so unhelpful and refused to resolve the issue since it was outside of their 60 day return policy. I didn't even open it until after 60 days since I was finishing the sample. Such a terrible experience and now I have a full bottle of $82 serum that is unusable.slk93

What a winner! This was a dream to trial thank you! After around 4 weeks of use, applied morning and night, before moisturiser, my skin feels and looks smoother, brighter and more refreshed. Fine lines seem less noticeable and it is a pleasure to use on my sensitive, rosacea prone skin. I particularly liked the packaging – the serum is presented in a squeeze tube with a long pointed nozzle for releasing the product. Always prefer my skin products where possible, to be packaged in a squeeze tube or a pump, as it protects the product inside from air and contamination from handling, as is what seems to be the case in skin care products that come in a screw top jar. It is also fragrance free and doesn't block pores, which is also great for my sensitive skin. This serum has a very healthy dose of L-ascorbic acid, which apparently is the purest form of Vitamin C. This is a brilliant antioxidant as well. Not to mention, it also has Hyaluronic Acid, which is renowned for its moisture retentive properties in locking in the moisture to your skin and making it supple and soft. I usually love Cerave products for what ingredients are included in them as much as the ingredients left out. But this serum just has too much dimethicone in it for my preferences and pills under my SPF. I’ll use up the tube but will not repurchase. In my ongoing search to replace my preferred (and very expensive) vitamin c serums (Sunday Riley CEO, Drunk Elephant C-Firma), I picked this up from HEB. The 10% vitamin c is ascorbic acid, one of my preferred vit c dosages, and it is packed with ceramides just like other Cerave products. The packaging is just right: the opaque aluminum tube protects the light-sensitive ingredients and ensures you can actually use up everything in the tube – you can roll it up just like a toothpaste tube – and the tip of the tube is sealed from air until you break the seal. It has no scent and spreads nicely on the skin, not leaving any sticky residue or shine on the face. This is probably due to the fact that dimethicone is high on the ingredient list. Unfortunately, the large amount of dimethicone just doesn’t sit well on my skin, especially under SPF and makeup. It causes rolling/pilling on my face that looks like I rolled around in a lint trap. Not cute! I gave three stars for quality vit c/ceramide ingredients and effective and smart packaging. But it is a no-go for me and my skincare routine.shelby.h

My review of the Cerave skin renewing vitamin C serum: I have some conflicted feelings on this product. The serum itself yielded really good results; I felt my naturally uneven skintone with small, faint areas of skin discoloration physically looks better after consistent use. After applying for two weeks after washing my face, I felt my skin's uneveness had been largely resolved! I also had some dry patches and inflamed skin on the side of my mouth, as well as some scarring from recent hormonal pimples, and this cleared everything up. What I did not love is the rather small amount of product you receive and the not very aesthetically pleasing packaging, compared to my skinceuticals or glossier serums at least. It was difficult to figure out how to get the product out of the tube, as there's an oddly pointed cap covering a skinny tip of the tube that I ASSUME needed to be cut. I had to cut the tip off the tube to get the product to be released but would really have appreciated if the packaging could have mentioned ANYWHERE that you'll need to cut the tube. Like I said, packaging and presentation is a little bit off but a very good product.djb

Gifted by Murad Skincare. This serum has a fairly runny consistency. Only One pump is needed to cover entire surface area. This serum has A slight scent (neither good or bad) but the smell does fade after it dries down completely. The application goes on quick no extra rubbing needing. It just soaks into the skin and has a quick dry down. The only down side is it is slightly sticky. I would say aside from the very slightly tacky finish it's fairly light weight. This serum does add radiance and I'm sure will fade dark spots and uneven skin tone over time, the formula is gentle and non irritating while ingredients such as glycolic acid help promote surface cell turn over. The orange packaging with a clear "fish bowl" like layer is pretty. This packaging is also user friendly. One pump allows for plenty product for each use.Marissa

First, I'd like to make a statement from a former customer service rep. I would always recommend consulting with a dermatologist when it comes to your skin concerns. You don't necessarily need to request/receive a prescription from them but it's important to know what's going on with your skin. It will save you money and time on certain products that are not made to target your specific skin concerns. Especially when they're sever concerns. That's why I always suggest consulting with a dermatologist first so you can how to treat and improve your skin. With that being said, I do not have any sever skin concerns. I just have deep/darkened scaring from popping pimples and attempting to pull hairs before actually pulling the hair, damaging my skin. I'm self conscious about my skin so I'm always popping pimples if I feel like they're too noticeable. I NEVER thought I'd be able to find something store bought, that would actually work for my skin until I started using this product. I was not a believer at first but was willing to take the risk. Im on week two, and I'm so glad I took the risk as I can see my dark and darkest spots lightening up. I'm feeling much more confident and will continue to purchase this product. Took off a point because it's overpriced but haven't looked into a less expensive version yet. If you don't mind paying that price, go for it. I used a deluxe sample and I only put it on the dark spots, not on the whole face, so that will make it last a long time. I have one age spot that was dark on my cheek, a red spot on my nose and a spot from sun damage on my forehead and immediately started seeing results. I have used quite a few other spot correcting products from ulta store, high end brands for a long time with no results from any of them but I did see lightening up after only using a couple of weeks. So the alcohol doesn't really bother me since I only use it on the spots. I have used laser treatments at a doctors office to get rid of a couple of age spots in the past, and that treatment completely removed one of them in the first visit but the other one didn't go away, so some spots just are stubborn and need longer or may never disappear completely. So I recommend if you're on the fence, get a sample or the travel size and see how it works for you. I also use a good sunscreen now so I don't get more.Nena

I love this C+ complex. I've noticed brighter smoother skin. This result is also due to the fact I use many revision products. Love how I can use the vitamin C my revision day cream and the hydrating serum as a cocktail for my skin. Saves time. The nectafirm is also wonderful. Decided to try this in place of my SkinCeuticals Vit C serum for oily skin. This is a nice rich lotion. No irritation/breakouts/pore clogs. My skin is a little too oily for this, as it didn't feel like it fully absorbed. I use other products in my routine, so with this being on the thicker side, I didn't use moisturizer. It was a good moisturizing agent to use nightly on top of tretinoin, though.Mary

Love this product. I have acne prone skin and just started using vitamin c serum in my routine. My skin now has a very good brightness that it did not have before I added this to my routine. I also use a lot of other products by Dr. Dennis Gross which include alpha beta wash, alpha beta peel extra strength, retinol peel, retinol serum, steamer, led mask, and clinical strength peel. Also use acne sulphuric mask, pads, and gel sometimes when skin needs it. The products work together to make my skin soft and healthy. I've tried a lot of Vitamin C serums, but this one is just right! I LOVE this product. This is a high quality vitamin C serum by a dermatologist who backs his products with research. It has a lightweight viscosity that absorbs into skin quickly. However it can leave a bit of a film of stickiness, so not recommended to wear under makeup alone, as it has the potential to pill.Better suited for nighttime routine. Packaging is excellent, as the pump delivers the right amount, not too much, not too little, two pumps should be sufficient for face and décolletage. Skin is brighter. I have been on the hunt for a vitamin C serum since the beginning of COVID and after being recommended this I was initially sceptical due to the price and the amount of product you are receiving. However, after taking the plunge I'm glad to say I would never look back. The results from this Dr. Dennis serum are incredible. I have struggled with mild acne scarring, pigmentation and uneven texture for most of my adult life and only just after 3 weeks of purchasing i'm beginning to see significant results. My acne scarring and pigmentation have both improved remarkably and are starting to even out and become subtle. I've also noticed an overall increase of smoothness of my skin texture. I would usually use this of a night on a clean face before a moisturiser. It can be paired with other serums for an even better and deeper effect, however should be researched first. I would recommend 1-2 pumps as this provides enough coverage for the entire face and even the neck area. My skin is usually glowing the morning after. The serum has a subtle and calming citrus fragrance and can be easily applied with clean hands. Also great to use pre or post at-home dermal roll to promote collagen production.dt7198
