20 Best Serum For Wavy Hair (Jan 2023 Update)

This product was received as an incentive from Influenster for my honest review. WOW. I was not expecting to like this as much as I do! I’ve been using this product for a couple weeks now and it has already done wonders for my hair. I naturally have very coarse, thick, dry hair and use a litany of oils and deep conditioners to keep my hair maintained. I feel like using this product consistently may alleviate that. This oil is on the thicker side, (which helps weigh down my thick hair- in a good way) and initially smells fruity / clean but somehow dries down to a more masculine clean scent (which I prefer for my hair). I feel like the scent lingers better than most. I’m in love and will certainly purchase when the bottle runs out in lieu of my typical hair oil.supersassy

I have dry, bleach dyed blonde hair and the humidity makes my hair so frizzy and tangled. It has a natural smell that didn’t bother me and the texture wasn’t too thick, thin, or oily. I think I found another go to product to help tame this mane. I loved the frizz-free results that stopped frizz at my hairline without making my hair greasy (AMAZEBALLS), but whew, the smell is awful. Luckily the smell goes away after thirty minutes or so. I have medium thick 2B wavy/ curly frizzy hair and I have one heck of a time trying to get my hair under control. I used this, in combination with the Dyson Airwrap, Verb Ghost oil (for shine), Verb Ghost hairspray (for hold), and IGK Good Behavior Smoothing Balm. I was pretty impressed by the results. For an amateur it was an easy at home blow out, and my results have held for 3 days without my hair looking greasy or wild. If you are on the fence I would say try it if you can get past the smell for the amazing results. I'm generally pretty leary of serum type products because my hair is fairly fine/thin and products like this usually weigh it down and make it look like I need to wash my hair again. I was really nervous because it's a bit thicker than other serum products I've used before that were too heavy, but somehow it doesn't weigh my hair down or make it greasy. It smooths the cuticle and makes it so silky. i thought it was only for blow-drying, but I applied it and let my naturally medium/fine, wavy hair air dry and it actually looked good! Normally, letting my hair air dry with my natural wave is NOT cute. It's just puffy and frizzy. This gives my waves defined shape and holds even when I brush thru it. I applied it lightly over my roots as well as I used it more often and it STILL didn't grease my hair up, it's crazy!! Wonderful all around smoothing product to use before blow-drying OR air-drying. I like the John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum (Extra Strength) because it contains my favorite organ oil, which is really moisturizing for my hair! I have naturally straight hair, but I permed it into wavy hair. After that my hair is always frizzy and dry. My hair becomes more moisturizing, shiny and more controllable after I found this hair serum, and it’s a lot less frizzy. I always apply this hair serum on my wet hair after shampoo, and it works wonder after a few uses. I like that it’s not greasy, and it’s paraben free! For best result, use it on wet hair, and let it air dry. You can also apply it before you use any hair styling products or heating tools to promote the silky touch and frizz free hair look. I have been using John Frieda frizz ease extra strength serum since 2007. It was my go-to hair product, and I swore by it. I used it every day and definitely spent a lot of money on the serum over the years because it was so good. This new formula does not work the same way, it does not remove frizz, it is way thinner, it leaves a greasy consistency in the hair. It's so disappointing. Now I have to find a new serum to replace John Frida extra strength, which really makes me sad because I was so loyal to the serum and the company. While I do like the new eco-friendly bottle, the new formula is way inferior to the old formula, and not worth the money. Unfortunately, I will need to find a new serum that works more like the old formula, and finally part ways with John Frieda after 15 years. 🙁dustylacson

I have thick, curly hair that tends to be unruly, and frizz is a huge part of my daily life. The first time I used this product, I was so amazed by the results! I smoothed a quarter sized amount through my wet hair after showering, making sure I worked it in really well and covering my tips. I was hesitant to buy this because of the bad reviews, but it was on offer in my local store so I thought I would try it out. I have naturally straight (with a very slight wave) and thick hair and I have been dealing with frizz and fly aways because of the summer humidity and wet weather. I use this serum in conjunction with the dream lengths conditioner (not the shampoo as it makes me look oily), wonder water, and no hair cut cream. It makes my hair soft and shiny without weighing it down or making it look oily. It tames frizz and flyaways but over time I need to reapply on dry hair to smooth it out again. An added bonus is that it smells great and it offers heat protection which will help with preventing frizz too! Enjoying this hair serum on my fly away baby hairs this summer. It gives my hair a nice shine and not too oily if the right amount is used. I do have thin hair so if I overdo it, this is too much. The only reason it’s 4 stars is because it doesn’t last long at taming frizz. I find myself going back to apply more after a few hours if I can for a refreshed hair look. I have naturally curly hair that tends toward dryness and frizz. I also bleach my hair and like to pamper it. This did not work at all for my hair and texture, but it could be great for others. I used this the evening of wash day, on top of my typical styling products ( oil and curl gelée ). When I woke up this morning my hair was incredibly poofy. My natural curl pattern had relaxed, and my hair just looks frizzy and lifeless. I tried putting more onto my ends, since they now look so blah, but it seemed to make it worse. Well… this product made me believe there is more to life than just simple haircare. Over and over it amazes me and makes my hair silky soft. A quick back story; I am a girl who looooves colouring my hair. I just tried Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nurishing Taming Overnight Hair Serum and I feel like great, effective hair care is possible, it's just out of my price range. But as long as this bottle lasts, I'm going to enjoy having manageable hair. Details, my hair has been super, straw dry as long as I can remember. Dull, lifeless, embarrassing. I've tried everything in my price range. I'm getting ahead of myself. The serum's scent is the first thing you notice and my second favorite thing. It seems to be simply red camellia scented, which in my opinion smells like lilacs. It smells so powerful, like if beauty had a scent. I used 20 pumps last night over 12hrs ago and it still smells like I'm laying in a field of red camellias (or lilacs, I have never smelled a red camellia so don't judge based on my perception). The consistency is somewhere between a frizz taming lotion and a hair gloss serum and the 20 pumps almost reached every strand of my bra strap length beyond thick (it takes three boxes of hair dye) hair. The directions were… Not unclear, but not what I expected. I thought it would be something to saturate my hair and wash out in the morning, but I did as the directions said and a little extra. The average head, you could use maybe 5 pumps and it would've been sufficient. I have an extra dry scalp as well and I put so much of it directly on my scalp I expected to wake up full of oil. However, this morning my hair is not greasy, it's shinier and it has some life to it. Before application, I could hold a section of hair halfway and point the end up and it would go up. If I could afford Shu Uemura products, I'd be a complete convert. My advice, if you can afford this and you have concerns regarding frizz or dry hair, everyone can use this product. This product is amazing! First and foremost, it smells heavenly! To be honest, that's the reason I first starting using it, because it made my hair smell great. All I do is apply one pumpful (the perfect amount for my long hair) into damp hair right after I shower. Then one day I decided to see if it made any difference to my hair and so I skipped using it. My hair was awful! Frizzy and dry feeling, constantly in my face, dull looking etc. Needless to say, I realized that this product is amazing. Despite the constant heat styling, and other damage that happens to my hair, my stylist always comments on how healthy is looks and I honestly can say it's because of this product. I noticed that damaged hair is smoother and healthier and it really improves hair mana. 💯 eliminating static and imparting a high gloss finish. I used this on my clients who had the coarse texture that needed something to smoothe down frizz, add shine and promote softness. I have to say I figured this product was the exact same as bio silk oil essentially, it smelled similar actually but it’s thicker and more hydrating and doesn’t just sit on the surface. This isn’t exactly my favorite hair oils, I’m definitely devoted to my olaplex #6 and my olaplex no.7 bonding oil. Sometimes I mix them together, sometimes I just use the no.7 but this oil is one that actually penetrates the hair and doesn’t just sit on the surface. It softens coarse hair, from the inside out instead of making it feel more greasy with build up. I didn’t think this was a bad product by any means, but their formula isn’t anything new or innovative. The olaplex no.7 treats and repairs the bonds in your hair while moisturizing and hydrating split ends, design essentials isn’t anything to write home about. Both of us use a serum daily for years and have tried quite a few. This serum is light, not oily nor heavy, smoothing, does not make the hair unnaturally shiny and has a lovely lasting scent. The serum performed well on both my straight hair as well as my daughters curly hair. It also performed well when she used a straightener to straighten her hair. We both tried the serum on towel dried hair a few times and then on dry hair a few other times as well as on both air dryed and heat styled hair and the results were all equally satisfying. My hair grew back different after chemo with lots of gray mixed in a mousy brown and dark brown that is thin and some areas that showed a look of baldness in my crown and very curly that would cause a lot of knots in the back of my hair that is a few inches below my shoulders. After one use of the shampoo and conditioner and bodifying serum, I saw a big difference! My hair had more thickness and volume and I didn't notice my thinness in my crown! I have been using my 20 drops of density serum religiously once a day and massage it all through my scalp, once i put it on my areas of biggest concern. While it's too soon to know the results, I can definitely feel the scensation on my scalp. I expect great results! I love the Brazilian Blowout product line including the shampoo and conditioner. I had my first Brazilian blowout done in a salon and paid a decent penny for the treatment. After receiving a couple more treatments, I asked what products were being used and decided to buy them online. It's really easy to straighten your hair, just make sure the room is well ventilated. To maintain the soft, silky hair I use the Brazilian Blowout Shampoo and Conditioner on a daily basis. It's more expensive than the typical shampoo and conditioner, but a little goes a long way and I haven't been able to get the results from any other product line. Using the Brazilian shampoo and conditioner daily, extends the time between straightening treatments. From two to three months, I can wait four or more months. This stuff is pricey for me, yes, so I researched other reviews before landing here. I researched other dot coms (even making sure they were honest reviews by checking fakespot, etc.). I was using a harsh toning shampoo that I knew was going to do my hair in so I needed a SERIOUS treatment afterward I knew going in. I ordered this and – taking no chances – left it in for the directed time (after the predicted straw feeling due to the toning shampoo). The second time I used the toning shampoo I – was in a hurry – and only left it in a few (maybe 3 ) minutes. Once again, I 'needed' no oil afterward (but did use 5 drops of jojoba just in case as opposed to my usual 20) and AGAIN I was happily surprised. I normally don't go crazy enough for a product to review it with such vigor but this one is the solution to straw hair – hands down. (OH and the smell is delightful and clean.) If I could afford it, I'd use it every single time I shampooed even with my non-straw causing shampoo.kathikini

I have quite thick, naturally curly, dyed hair. I always use this after washing my hair, before drying. It is brilliant at avoiding frizz – It really does work! Again, as with most products, this works fantastically well when it comes to what it isays on the box. However, if you have fine hair, it will be too heavy, which will weigh down your hair, make any curls you have look lifeless and the moment you use even the smallest bit too much, will leave your hair looking greasy. This product is amazing for anyone who has curly or wavy hair. We typically have to handle frizzy hair and this product helps tame it ! What I love about this product is that it leaves you hair feeling smooth and makes it shining with out leaving a gross greasy feeling. The product is also a heat protectant!
