My hair is more wavy than curly – however I wanted to give this a try to see if it would help me achieve more “I naturally woke up like this” hair days than “frizzy mess”. I have to say that after trialling out the new Maui Moisture Lightweight Curls + Flaxseed Shampoo and Conditioner I’m pleased with the results. Always a fan of vegan / natural products if possible, and the Aloe Vera definitely works to hydrate and smooth. Shampoo has a good lather, and leaves hair clean but not dry, and when followed with the conditioner that melts instantly into your hair, detangling is incredibly easy (just with my fingers) When rinsed out hair still feels soft and hydrated, and when gently towel dried I did find that my hair tended to generally settle better into shinier waves rather than frizzy or flat, with minimum product. Pleased but not amazed by this product. Would recommend as a good lightweight “every other wash” option for curly haired girls in between styling.Nicole M.
This was my first time trying a curly shampoo and I have had some really good results! My hair is very fine and has a natural wave to it which I’ve never styled before. It’s also very dry and heat damaged. I used this product by shampooing my roots twice and conditioning my ends once. I found once I got out of the shower and scrunched my hair, there was a bit of a natural wave already. With the use of a curl conditioner and styling mousse, the waves held once my hair dried. I haven’t rated this 5 stars as I find my hair gets really knotty and dry. This is likely due to my damaged hair but important to note. This conditioner comes in quite cute packaging – I like the fact it is more square, as it makes it easy to grub onto in the shower with wet slippery hands. It is quite appealing with nice labels and easy to read instructions. The conditioner itself isn’t a thick consistency, but not runny. It has a light scent, which is quite refreshing in scent and not overpowering. After leaving on my hair for a few minutes, it was easy to wash out and left my hair feeling quite soft and smooth. Upon drying, my hair wasn’t as soft as I had expected, and I don’t feel like it helped to accentuate my natural curl. I actually really like this conditioner. The first time I bought it, I didn't. I decided to give it another try and k actually really like it. I use it as a rinse out and when I "squish to condish". I feel more comfortable using this for squish to condish rather than a normal rinse out conditioner because those are not meant to be left in the hair and this one is. I do rinse this out though. I really wanted to love this product and I did in the first month of using it. I applied it in the shower and brushed through it really easily, it helped revive my waves, and I really liked the smell. Unfortunately after about a month of use I started noticing really bad dandruff at the front of my hairline, big dandruff flakes, and the nape of my neck was itch. Then I started getting this weird buildup on my hair after the shower. My hair just felt really tacky, when I tried to brush through it, it got tangled immediately because it was sticking to itself, I even noticed some white buildup on my brush. So the next time, I washed the brush, washed my hair with a clarifying shampoo, and made sure to wash out the conditioner well…really well. And it still left this really sticky gross buildup on my hair. It was almost impossible to even run my fingers through. I shampooed my hair twice with a clarifying shampoo and went back to one of my old conditioners and my hair is pretty much back to normal. There is still maybe one part that is still a little sticky/tacky so I'll have to wash it again. Maybe this works for some people, it just didn't work for me. I really like Not Your Mother's products but this particular one didn't quite make the cut. I love how they are free of alcohol, silicones, phthalates, sulfates and dyes. This can be used as a leave in conditioner, rinse out or just as a co-wash. It does enhance my curls and give some definition but my hair is so oily the next day, I have to wash it. I'm going to try to explain this in a way that makes since… ok stay with me. For the longest time the only way I could wash my hair was in the shower because it allowed my hair to flow in the natural direction (towards the back). I couldn't sink wash anymore because flipping my hair in the reverse direction (towards the front, forehead) would knot and tangle my hair. Detangling would always be a headache after sink washes, so eventually I gave up. Before this product I would have to use an abundance of conditioner just to detanagle my hair. BUT BAAABY!!! this shampoo right HERE!!!! I can now shampoo my hair in the sink again and easily detangle it without conditioner! This for me is a big deal because it allows me to cleanse my hair any time of day I want and not solely around showers. ( I know it may not mean much to some, but there's a method to my madness). My hair is very manageable after using this shampoo. It smells great too. Let me also add that my hair was slightly damaged prior to using this (plus other Mane choice products) and my curls are BACK and popping! These products have brought my hair back to life I couldn't be happier.
Using the shampoo my hair felt like a cloud, now no I've never touch a cloud but I imagine it's quite soft and fluffy. Now don't get me wrong I'm a garnier girl at heart and no I'm not going to switch out my maoke syrup shampoo for this yet completely but its s definite kicker. This is really fantastic shampoo. My hair has been really prone to getting tangled lately and since I've been using this shampoo it's been much easier to comb. It's also one of the few shampoos that entirely gets rid of my frizz. My hair stays very soft for days afterwards. The only reasons I didn't give it five stars is because it isn't available in a bigger bottle like most brands have. Most brands have a regular size bottle and a 'jumbo' size one. I really like using these products and how my hair feels after using them. I ordered the whole set during the flash sale and when I received the products the shampoo, conditioning spray, and the conditioner weren't closed properly so most of the product was in the bottom of the box. I sent an email about the issue but I received another email for a link that doesn't work to open a ticket. No one has reached out to me and I have been sent the same link twice. I was a little disappointed when I received my black Friday package from Mielle. I have ordered before and have been pleased but this time it was like everything was thrown in a box and shipped. The box was so beat up its like the products could have came out and almost would have im certain had it been tossed around any more and I know that part wasn't so much their fault but I figured it would have been put into another box to ship to prevent that problem. This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. It’s also very gentle on my hair and the smell is light and not overpowering. So impressed with this product and very glad to have found it. Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I bought this on a whim because I was like, what's the harm in another product supposedly for curly hair? Boy was I surprised!! I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. Finallyyyyy I found a product that actually hydrates my hair, makes it look great curly, and isn't making it frizzy or puffy. The only con about this product is that I really really wish they made versions of this product in larger bottles because the conditioner tends to go quickly especially if you have long curly hair like me. I was searching for a new go to shampoo and conditioner, something for my fine but thick, damaged and frizzes easily hair (its humid in the south), as I'm growing it out since I had to do a big chop. I did alot of searching online reading reviews on all products, that was my make or break on finally making a purchase. WTBS I'm super happy with this product and have been using it for over a month before even writing a review. The shampoo is so fragrant, it WOW'd me, it doesn't smell that strong out the bottle, I love it, but if you are sensitive to strong scents you might not like it, but after using over a week or so, you get used to its power and enjoy it alot. Lathers well, my hair feels super clean and soft, mega sleek is exactly what you get with this combination. When blow drying you can still smell the luxurious smell, faintly not over powering but where you know your hair smells SO GOOD! My frizz and fly aways are definitely helped by this product. I normally straighten my hair almost daily, but since my big chop and I'm growing out my natural hair, I want it super healthy and the least amount damaged as possible, so right now no flat iron only blow drying and it looks very good! I haven't had a haircut in over 22 weeks so I can only imagine how it would look straightened with the help of this Mega Sleek. This will be my shampoo and conditioner for a long time. The conditioner is nice and slimey (if you have hair like mine that will tangle horribly and you need a slimey conditioner just to be able to comb it after.. my hair is shoulder length now, but used to be LONG, my hair acts no different with a different length), its very conditioning and works very well!!! I have zero complaints on both these products and do recommend! Only warning is the scent if you are sensitive, you can always try and return, but give it a fair chance. I honestly love this stuff and so glad I found the right product so I can stick with something that makes me and my hair happy. FINALLY!! P.S. I really love that this product truly makes my fizzy, wavy hair less frizzy and sleek! I come out of the shower with shiny hair and it seems to stay much more tame than with standard shampoos!! I have been using the Coconut & Hibiscus Shampoo for a month now. I really like the coconut scent, it lathers really well and I was very pleased that a little goes a long way as I have very long and thick hair. I wash my hair every 3rd day, but I wet my hair and condition it every day. I have been using the Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Coconut & Hibiscus Conditioner the 2nd day. I always use leave in conditioner but that day I had to use double the amount of what I normally use. Otherwise my hair felt & looked dry & frizzy. The product definitely did help with detangling my hair, not totally, but to a great enough degree where I was pleased. I didn’t notice any improvement in shine though. I was hoping to experience much more of an overall difference from all the various products I have used in the past. No huge noticeable difference, and more expensive than what I currently use. I love that Shea Moisture Curl & Shine Coconut & Hibiscus Shampoo contain no silicones, parabens, no phathalates, no petrolatum & no mineral oil. So I really enjoyed using the product on both my baby girl and my own hair. Because we have very very different hair types, I noticed some important things. She has a healthy head of very fine, very varied coil curls. The shampoo worked great on very wet hair, it lathered well for a clarifying shampoo without turning her hair into dry grass. I rinsed twice to make sure the water ran well and clear. The conditioner was light and moisturizing, as promoted. I took the time to work it into all strands while damp to slightly wet with a curly hair wet brush. Afterward rinsing the conditioner lightly, I put in the styling cream. Here I realized I'd put in way too much, but the effect was still very good. Her curls were less prone to tangling, moisturized and made beautiful defined coils. My hair is fine but wavy, not curly. However my hair is super dry. I like using heavily moisturizing products from time to time to feed my hair. The products were too heavy for fine straighter hair, but it really moisturized heavily. My hair has a healthy strong feel and a beautiful glisten that it has after a moisturizing hair mask. Overall, on straighter finer hair, I'd say use the conditioner thoroughly but rinse very well and easy on the styling cream. I didn't experience any waxiness anywhere.Thali22

This was the most drying, matting shampoo I've come across in a long time. I wanted to try something different ( cause shampoo is shampoo right?! WRONG) I have a mix of type 3c, 4b and beyond. Based on other reviews, I really wanted to love this product for my thick curly hair..this shampoo/conditioner combo made my scalp very itchy and dry – something I’ve never had issues with before. On top of that by day 2 it was making my hair fall out in CLUMPS. I’m not talking typical “more than a few strands because it was worn up today” either – I mean handfuls each wash. I made myself use it until it was gone to see if it was an adjustment my body needed to make and nothing improved. I bought this shampoo with the expectation of finding a Clarifying shampoo that cleansed extremely well without sulfates and this does the job. This is not a moisturizing shampoo. That said I've never found it to be overly drying either. I only use it to wash the first round and then if I still need a second wash I move to the coconut cowash. The cowash is very rich and moisturizing so replenishes any oils/moisture that may have been cleansed away in the Clarifying wash. When I wash with the Clarifying shampoo, I make sure to section in 4 parts and apply the shampoo only at the roots of my hair. I don't mush my hair around so that all of my hair is saturated with shampoo or smooth the shampoo through so it coats all of the strands, there's no need. I massage and cleanse the scalp and roots, then as I'm rinsing I rub straight down the length of the hair while it's under water. The length of the hair is cleansed as it rinses from the scalp and these strands do not get overly cleansed. Once that's rinsed I either use the coconut cowash, or just move on to a deep conditioner to add moisture. Also applying the conditioner in sections and letting it sit for 15 min while steam from the shower helps it do it's magic. I then smooth it through thoroughly and rinse and detangle during that rinse. The hair is usually clean, soft and moisturized. I have dry scalp and this shampoo and method of application does an excellent job of removing scalp residue and product build up. If you don't like overly squeaky clean hair this method and/or shampoo may work for you. You still get the benefits of the clarifying shampoo without it overly saturating all of your hair and causing dryness. This shampoo may not be for everyone, but IMHO the bad rep it gets is not well deserved. It definitely does what it claims and if used sparingly and with a moisturizing follow up, it's pretty close to perfect for the purpose it was intended. For that reason I hope it's not discontinued any time soon. I think As I Am does a great job by providing 3 shampoo options, so everyone has something that suits there needs. If you think the Clarifying is a little too much try the cleansing pudding, it's technically not a clarifying shampoo, but it does cleanse away product build up. I'm not an As I Am rep. I've just been using several of the products for about 3 years now and have had good success with them.
The shampoo definitely does its job. I feel like it really gets rid of all the build-up, the hair feels clean, albeit somewhat stripped. I always put Argan Oil in my hair after I wash it, so I figured this shampoo and conditioner would be great for my damaged color-treated hair. First of all, I’m not too fond of the smell. Second of all, it left my hair looking and feeling dry, and my hair seemed to break off even more. I used the conditioner without the shampoo and it worked a little better, but it still wasn’t what I was looking for or what I’d hoped for. I am kind of a hair product junkie. I color my hair, plus it's thick and wavy. So to keep it in order is sometimes almost impossible. When I wake up in the morning, it's a matted mess. So trying to brush through it I end up breaking off pieces. When I style it, I have a lot of flyaways. This solves both of those tasks. I spray it on first thing in the morning and allows me to brush all the way down. Halfway through the day, when I start having flyaways, I spray it at the top, and it weighs them down. You need to know that I have at least 10 other products that claim to do the same thing from high end to drugstore brands. What I loved about this product is that it did not make my hair feel weighed down in any way. After using this product my hair is extremely smooth,Shiny, soft, and frizz free and we are expecting rain here in New York so the humidity is there. Usually I have to flat iron my hair in order to obtain any kind of smoothness but I noticed that after blow-drying my hair it was already smooth, this is not common for me. I recently purchased this shampoo from my hair salon because I went from bleached hair back to my dark brown roots! I needed something to hydrate my damaged dry fine hair that was also color safe!! This has got to be my favourite line from kerastase! My hair type is very thick, over processed hair with a natural wave. I find it hard to find a shampoo which nourishes my hair and that doesn’t leave it even more dry and thirsty then it already is. This shampoo- the consistency of this is amazing , thick and creamy , hair feels instantly nourished while I’m washing it. Feels like a layer of protection is on the hair (the keratin I suspect) beautiful! Honestly, since I started using this shampoo with the conditionner, my curls came back to life. I have very thick and curly hair and this shampoo along with the conditionner really helped reduce the frizz and dryness of my hair and a little really does go a long way so you can make it last! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the price point: it's PRICEY. And I really wished that they offered bigger format for a more "economic" alternative especially for people with longer and thicker hair that obviously need to use more of the product than thinner hair. This is the best curly friendly conditioner I've found so far on this site. I need a lot of product but I feel like my 2C/3A hair is much more manageable with this than with other conditioners. The downside: this is the weirdest smelling product I've ever used on my head ever. First sniff is something resembling dill pickles. It then morphs into a kind of old man's cologne, like the musky kind that's overpowering. Only to settle on a very floral mix of the previous two scents. I have no other way to explain it. . . I have been on the hunt for a natural shampoo and conditioner that wouldn't weight down my curls and so far so good with this product. The only con I would give it is that the natural smell could be off-putting for some – myself I can deal with natural, herbal smells better than fake perfume scents. This shampoo lathers well for being sulfate free and I only need about a pump and a half for my hair, which is almost down to my chest. It rinses cleanly and I follow it with the conditioner and my hair is left really soft and my waves stand out even without putting gel or mouse in it – although I often do have to style it with some sort of product but that is just the way my hair is. I would recommend this to people with wavy to curly hair for sure. My hair is long and thick and frizzy and I feel like this has helped to tame some of the frizz. I have tried other brands like devacurl and this cleans better for me (and my hair is pretty greasy at the scalp) and is a better value. Bonus points for the pump!deskar

I like this leave in conditioner it has a water like consistency. It has almost a fruity pineapple scent. It doesnt moisturize my hair but It is also an additional heat protection so it makes my life easier to not constantly try to buy a seperate heat protectant for styling. It doesnt do much hydration at all but it does the job for a tiny extra bit of moisture. If youre someone that has low perosity hair i don’t recommend as it doesnt have much hydration properties at all but maybe for someone who has an oily scalp and want a more lightweight product this may be the one for you. I am m not sure what magical ingredients go into this, but the products have transformed my hair. I was forever searching for my "holy grail" shampoo and conditioner and nothing ever 'wowed' me. I have been buying Dove shampoo and conditioner for many years from Sam's. Dove has changed the smell and the formula. My hair actually looks oily after I blow it dry. I have fine thin hair and the old formula always worked well for me. My hair would blow out to be light and bouncy. This new formula just weighs it down. It does not even want to take to the curling iron. All of my bottles are going back to Sam's. Dove, do you even test out your changes? We placed a delivery order recently with Wal*Mart a few items were delivered from our local store. They left the order at our door left before we realized it was the wrong order. Because of covid, they don't accept any returns of local delivery orders, so they let us ( I guess the person who got our stuff) keep it for free! I'd never tried this particular conditioner before but I thought it looked like a good one but didn't have super high hopes because nothing has ever done a total miracle for my hair before. On a dryness, brittleness, frizziness, tanglability (Is that a word? LOL!), unruliness scale of 0 – my Dreamland Baby doll I got when I was 8 (Wow! That hair! Eek! It was short but would turn back into a frizzy, tangled mess 1 minute after thoroughly brushing taming without touching it!), my hair is off the charts! It's crazy thick, unbelievably frizzy, more porous than Spongebob, incredibly weak dry. I can't shampoo daily (it takes too long makes the texture worse) I absolutely have to put products in after each shampoo too keep it under some sort of control. I'm always looking to try new shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, treatments, leave-ins in hopes of finding the hair miracle I've been hoping for. My goodness, this is it! Even before applying a leave-in while my hair is still damp, I can tell that my hair is unbelievably soft! I found this to be an excellent light conditioner. I have 3 b hair that I bleach and dye fun colors so my hair is a bit damaged, but this product line has been really nice to my hair. The conditioner isn't going to be great for anyone with type 4 hair or above, but it is excellent for waves and 3 type curls because of how light weight it is. I wash my hair once or twice a week. I wash, rinse, condition, detangle, leave on for 5-10 minutes, rinse. I usually put the leave in conditioning treatment from Chi on after but while I am still in the shower. And sometimes I will do a deep conditioning treatment instead to get the moisture kick I need.Kiantewench

This spray works so well! We tried it for the first time this morning and it brought my son's curls to life! It's called a gel spray, but doesn't leave a crunchy feel which is great. In my household, at any one given time, I've got a handful of their products in rotation. This particular line doesn't get as much hype as their others but should. The Daily cleanse shampoo is amazing. It is gentle, yet effective even on the oilest heads. I have three children under the age of 10 that all have different hair types and use this shampoo. Ok, I am new to Bumble and Bumble and discovered this line on accident when I went to Sephora for some foundation. I was on a business trip and forgot my conditioner at home and found this line. My first thought was that it was WAY to expensive, but I decided to give it a try and love it. It has added so much moisture to my hair, I can see and feel the difference. I suffer from chronically dry hair which then is prone to breakage. I also have super curly "s" curl and cork screw hair and have never found a product like this. Thanks Bumble and Bumble for making a product for the super curly girls!!! I read a lot of reviews and looks like people who used the previous line are not as happy about this new formulation, my guess is that BB decided to enter into different "curly" markets ( a larger variety of curl types / hair textures) that might be too heavy for some of the previous customers. I love this product and have purchased the entire line so I really hope they keep it. However, as a curly girl that is loyal to products that work I also hope they bring back the "curl conscious" line for their long time customers. Shampoo is rather thick compared to others so I usually thin it out a bit before applying it to my hair. A quarter drop is enough to clean my shoulder length hair. Product helps define my curls and waves so I like it. Still a bit frizzy but I don't mind. Nice soft scent is a bonus. Although bottle is small and I use it every other day, it lasts me a couple of months (probably also thanks to short hair). This is a good curl helper shampoo. I mainly like this new product for the all-in-one feature. With that said, it would be nice if it came in a larger size. I agree with the other reviewers in that I do not like the tube, flip top packaging. For my fine, wavy to curly, naturally gray, below shoulder length hair, this product works great. It keeps my hair controlled throughout the day. On more humid days, I tend to use a bit more product and the frizz control is not great but manageable. I have tried so many products and always come back to this line mainly because of the scent and it works as well as or better than the many others I have tried. I have become more sensitive to how products smell. The bb.curl custom conditioner smells almost the same as the old curl cream formula (which I loved). I like the smell as it is light and not fruity. It's a little expensive running about 10 to 11 dollars a bottle. Im Telling you though it's worth it. It's not just for curly hair either. I have straight hair that can get messy and this product can tame the beast. There is no oily feeling afterwards just clean soft hair. I definitely recommend trying this product. I’m one to put conditioner on my hair and leave it on for 5-20 minutes depending on how I feel. My hair feels absolutely amazing when I use the conditioner. I’ve tried to stay away from coconut oil products but this product is great. Would defiantly recommend this to any curly girl! I love the pump it makes it easy to use especially since I wash my hair in the sink and water often runs over my eyes. The packaging is super cute and the coconut image across the top band let me know without having to read that there is coconut something in it. My hair did feel a lot softer after I used it. I have a sensitive nose so I can’t use some products because of the smell. This scent wasn’t too overpowering, I actually thought it was pretty good. My hair even stayed moisturized when I was twisting my hair. Usually by the time I get to the front of my hair it’s dry simply because how long it takes me to get to it, but even with my hair not feeling wet to touch, it still felt moisturized.eliza.s
This shampoo does wonders for my natural hair. I love the creamy to sudsy consistency, it really makes me feel like the product is getting deep into my scalp and hair shafts.
