I bought the travel size of this shampoo to test out how it would do on my hair before I splurged on the big bottle. I was also a bit wary of the reviews that claimed it caused hair loss. I have wavy and thick hair with low porosity. I have a very dry, itchy, flakey scalp as well. I read that tea tree oil could help soothe your scalp, so I thought I would try it. I washed my hair as directed. Used about 3 dime sizes for my whole head and massaged it into my scalp. It lathers alright. Not much suds. That made me think that it wasn't cleaning my hair enough so I was tempted to put more shampoo on my head but I did not. The smell is very strong, but it does not linger in your hair post-wash. Usually, my head begins to itch after I wash my hair, but with this shampoo, there was no itch! So I was pleasantly surprised by that. I finished off my hair with the tea tree special conditioner. After I finished showering and dried my hair with a microfiber towel, I noticed no residue on my hair and it felt very clean! I couldn't see any flakes and my scalp wasn't itchy! Just from this, I am very impressed with this shampoo. To address the hair loss comments, I did not notice any significant hair loss when I used the shampoo. I am the type to shed a lot of hair as it is since I have thick hair. I also wash my hair about once a week, so I tend to lose a bit of hair because of that because stray hairs build up over that time. So this might not be good for someone who has thin hair or shampoos frequently. But for me, it works great. Hair loss was about the same or slightly less than usual. I washed my hair about 5 days ago and my hair is a lot less flakey and itchy. It still feels relatively clean with some oil started to build up on my hair. By this time, my hair is usually an oily, flakey mess, but it is not now because of this shampoo! Will definitely splurge for the large bottle!sweetkiwi
Best shampoo out there for oily dandruff ! Used a $400 prescription shampoo for 15 years and of course it worked, however one just can't Afford to keep using a $400 shampoo every day at a 30 day prescription. I'm a licensed stylist and always heard and was taught that Tea Tree has healing ingredients that Actually work . Never had the chance to use it. I got the shampoo and conditioner combo and used it for the first time today. Here are my thoughts: The "tingly" feeling is real. At first I thought it was burning my scalp but it's not. I have extreme dandruff and have tried RX shampoos to help that never worked. My scalp at least "feels" clean. I've seen a lot of reviews about hair falling out and mine did not at all. I have hashimotos disease which causes hair loss to an extreme so I expected clumps again. NOPE. Make sure to brush through your hair before you wash it! This prevents any extra breakage. The small is very strong. I love essential oils for their healing properties but the smells are awful. No exception here! Any tee tree product will smell like this BTW. DISCLAIMER: tee tree can be poisonous in raw form. If you have allergies, do not use this. For people with psoriasis this will not be for you. Keep out of reach from pets as it is poisonous to cats and dogs even as a topical product. Anything with essential oil products can be potentially dangerous and I urge you to research before you buy! For me personally, I think it works great and a lot of the negative comments here are from user error but that's just my opinion.Kelsey

I like this leave in conditioner it has a water like consistency. It has almost a fruity pineapple scent. It doesnt moisturize my hair but It is also an additional heat protection so it makes my life easier to not constantly try to buy a seperate heat protectant for styling. It doesnt do much hydration at all but it does the job for a tiny extra bit of moisture. If youre someone that has low perosity hair i don’t recommend as it doesnt have much hydration properties at all but maybe for someone who has an oily scalp and want a more lightweight product this may be the one for you. This shampoo (and damage remedy conditioner) are my ultimate favourite hair products. I have thicker coloured long hair and it consistently works better than others I try that claim to do the same thing. Other reviews state disappointment in all the original Aveda Shampoo lines being discontinued and I couldn't agree more. If the Damage remedy line is removed I will have no choice but to find another brand as all my other favourites are gone and the replacements are not cutting it. My wife and I both really love / like (respectively) the Damage Remedy shampoo. It leaves hair feeling clean but not stripped, and "soft" and silky without feeling like it's lacking in body. She has blonde hair and mine is very dark brown to almost black, and there's some grey/white/silver in there too….and this shampoo is great on both hair types. Impressive! So, why Four Stars? At some point, with the noticeable increase in price, one has to ask when does it not make sense, especially for a shampoo that isn't meant to be 'regular use' unless one has hair that is in very sorry condition? I am sadly not getting on with this shampoo at all. There is no lather when I use a normal amount, so my hair doesn't feel clean. Always have to wash it twice and use more shampoo than I would with other products. My hair is then fine for about 12 hrs, but starts to look greasy after that, so have to repeat the next morning. This shampoo comes in a very tall and soft plastic bottle in a bright hot pink shade with a flip top lid. The shampoo itself is creamy and lathers nicely. A 20c size squirt is enough to coat the entirety of my scalp. Although I typically prefer fragrance-free products, I did not mind that this shampoo has a bit of a fragrance, at least initially. It does not linger after the shampoo is washed out. In terms of results, this shampoo cleans well and does not leave my scalp feeling stripped, rather it feels refreshed and balanced. It is unfortunately still too soon to tell whether it will live up to its claim that the liquid proteins contained in the formulation will strengthen my strands and prevent breakage.Linda X.

I tried this as a substitute for Damage Repairing & Rehydrating Conditioner, which has been inexplicably discontinued, despite being very popular. This Olive Oil conditioner is garbage and doesn’t work at all. It smells terrible, it feels artificial and unpleasant, and it’s heavy and gloppy without being moisturizing. There is now no good option for conditioner at Kiehl’s. I’m so disappointed and won’t shop there any more. Love the packaging design of this in my bathroom. Brightens it up immediately and looks very pretty. However the quality of the plastic is awful and I keep hurting my hand while opening it because it’s difficult to grab the lid to open, and the edges are sharp enough that I’m worried I’ll cut myself one day. Onto the product! It smells like soy and vanilla. I wish the vanilla was more toned down. But fortunate it’s not at an unbearable level for someone sensitive to fragrance like me. As far as sulfate-free shampoos go, this lathered up decently okay (by which I mean not like completely drying) so long as you used a decent amount. Not super softened or magical but it did keep the brassiness of my bleached hair under control. For sulfate free types I think it’s alright if you like the brand and packaging.
This is a really nice silky hydrating leave in conditioner. I like to use it after the shampoo and mask from the same line and I love how it makes my hair feel and look. I apply this from mid to ends and comb and style as usual. It leaves my hair soft and shiny without being too heavy. It has some of my favorite nourishing ingredients like argan oil and marula oil. Just like the shampoo, it has a slight lower PH which is what I look for in hair care products since they hydrate but are less damaging. It’s perfect for every day hydration and helps a lot with frizz control, especially on thick wavy hair like mine! I just love the moisture I get from the Drunk Elephant Silkamino Mega-Moisturizing Shampoo for my hair and my scalp loves it too! This really is a deeply moisturizing shampoo I truly feel my hair gets plenty of moisture and feels healthier with use, looks shinier, softer too, and even stronger. It does a great job too at deep cleansing away all my product buildup I have in my hair from all the hair products I use which is a plus, plus dirt, sweat, and oils too it cleanses away. What I like is that soothes my scalp too which is something I was looking for while also looking for something with all these other properties so this shampoo really does it all and my scalp does feel so much better and healthier too! This shampoo has a nice thick formula so all you need is a little to lather up so it’ll last you a long time and I only use a small amount on my past below my shoulders wavy bleached hair. I was able to try this product in exchange for review, which I was thrilled about as I have always wanted to try this particular Shea Moisture line. I have heavily highlighted and have attacked it quite regularly with hot tools. Add in pandemic self-done haircuts, my hair has been feeling rather dry and brittle. After two weeks of using this shampoo, twice a week, My hair feels moisturised but perhaps a little too much so. For my particular hair, I cannot use this is my go-to shampoo, but more as a twice a month or so treatment shampoo. The texture is not like any I have tried before, it is a semi-viscus liquid that pours out like a watery honey, not at all like a standard shampoo, so pay attention in the shower! The smell is a comforting warm vanilla. For my hair this product is a little too moisturising to use with every wash, but if you have coarser hair than mine, I definitely say give it a whirl. I was able to try the Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Shampoo as a #freeproduct with #trywithtopbox & was pleasantly surprised. Keeping in mind this is a restorative shampoo it's very unconventional in the way it looks, smells & shampoos the hair. I was very skeptical but was used to it by the 2nd to 3rd time using it. It doesn't suds up/lather as much as a regular shampoo but it does if you really massage the hair well & give it a second shampoo. The color doesn't bother me as I said you get used to it. My hair didn't have the traditional "clean" feeling the first time I used it but there's a definite silkier almost more creamy feel to the hair after using it which is nice. This was a nice surprise! After using it for a few weeks now, I feel like again, I'm used to it & it leaves the hair clean & amazingly hydrated. Keep in mind this is all because this shampoo is sulfate-free (which is a good thing!). So give it a chance! You wouldn't necessarily use this if you have a ton of product in your hair you need to get off (lots of hairspray, gel etc,). This could be used for the second round of shampooing. So recommend to use this when you need some hydration & your hair is heat damaged. Also big plus it didn't burn my eyes which is my number one test with any shampoo especially when I saw the highlighted ingredients as peppermint & apple cider vinegar. I detest mint in general (esp in hair care) & have used products with lots of tea tree oil etc. & do not like it. So points for being subtle smelling & not harsh. Honestly didn't even notice. I had been using Head and Shoulders and other various dandruff shampoo brands for my dandruff for years and never really found anything that helped much. I tried scalp scrubs, masks, rinses, treatments, etc and tons of home remedies and never found anything very effective. Until I saw a dermatologist on TikTok mention that dandruff is actually caused by a FUNGUS on your scalp 🤢 So gross. Anyway, he suggested trying something with ketoconazole in it and I ran out to Target to try this right away and it was worth every penny of the $14.99 or whatever it was that I paid. 10/10 if you have dandruff problems, try this. I’ve struggled with dandruff for years and have tried EVERY product; Selsun Blue, T/Gel, head and shoulders, home remedies, you name it. Head and Shoulders was really the only thing I found that kept it somewhat at bay and I still only use the condition along with using Nizoral shampoo. I have very thick and curly hair so I don’t wash it often which is why none of the other products worked for me because they would make my hair way too greasy. I have been using Nizoral for about 3 months now and will never use anything else. After only about a week of using it I noticed a drastic change in my scalp, no flakes AT ALL!! This is going to sound very disgusting but at one point many years ago I had dandruff really really bad. At least I thought it was the address. I kept using every single day and your shampoo I could find and it did very little. My skin on my scalp would flake and almost healed to the point of being a lot like cradle cap that little babies have. I couldn’t understand why I had this horrible Dandruff and why nothing I would buy would do anything to help it. Finally I was able to see a dermatologist who gave me a prescription shampoo and told me I’d had sebbhoreic dermatitis. Once my prescription ran out I was not able to go back to my dermatologist and there was quite the wait so I decided to try some other shampoos after reading online. This was one that I had seen recommended by other people. Nizoral actually helped my condition and I was quite surprised that they didn’t need a prescription shampoo. I don’t see my dermatologist very often and to get in there is a bit of a wait so I don’t bother anymore. Wow! Best shampoo I have ever used by far! I have spent years trying to find a shampoo that doesn’t make my hair a tangly matted mess but this cleans my scalp and give my hair slip and hydration at the same time, I have dry curly / wavy hair that gets split ends and breaks easily and I have noticed a significant different in the ends and over all appearance and feel of my hair since using this shampoo and the correlating conditioner. The shampoo has a decent lather and you don’t need much of it as a little goes a long way. The only downside is that for me this product was a lot more than what I’d usually spend on a shampoo/ conditioner but is definitely worth the investment for something that actually works for my hair for once.sophie.b

This is one of my favorites I keep in my shower. I love the way it smells, lathers and makes my hair feel afterwards. I like to use this at least once a week, then I squeeze all excess water out and use the Keratin mask in my hair working it from my ends up to my scalp and twisting it on top of my head allowing it to set while I finish my shower and rinse out in cooler water, followed with the keratin conditioner mainly on my ends while I exfoliate or go back over with my favorite body wash and then rinse. This combo really strengthens your hair, giving it elasticity, shine, promotes growth, helps with frizz. I have curly hair and it really does help those ends and volume did I saw strength, lol. I had read reviews and the marketing for this brand and I wanted to give it a shot. I went with this particular shampoo to try because it seemed best fitted for my hair type which is straight, shoulder length that gets a bit frizzy after blow drying and styling. When I was my hair with this shampoo, I can feel the difference. It is easier to style and it holds a nice smooth style with no friz. It stays well too. I generally wash my hair every other day, but I can easily take it an extra day and not even tough it up. I work out a lot and it still stays great after being in a ponytail and sweating. I recommend so much! I would love to keep up with this product. It lathers like a lot. Suds galore! It's so light weight , all you have to do is lather for a few minutes to help stimulate your scalp for better results. A little goes a long way! Many products claim to smooth one's hair and make it silky soft. As one gets a bit older (me) frizz becomes a bigger battle. I have tried many shampoo and conditioners and nothing ever seems to work, until I tried Keranique. After wrapping my hair up in the towel when I got into the shower, my comb and hair usually get into a major battle, with Keranique my comb and hair were at a peaceful gathering. where have you been my entire life? I have very thick course hair and I love it long. I also have a lot of gray in my roots so it gets wiry, and lets not omit the part where I insist my hairstylist texturized and razors my hair (she fights me every single time) for layers and thinning purposes. It is literally a recipe for hair trauma. I have jumped from brand to brand….some inexpensive but mostly the most expensive trying every one that says "repair, hydrate, bonding". Lets not forget no one really likes first and second day hair so all the products I add to give me third day hair is also added into the mix. Long story short? I was so excited to try the new Olaplex No.4C Bond Maintenance Clarifying Shampoo and was not disappointed! I start off by applying weekly in place of my regular shampoo to my wet hair at the scalp working to ends, working it into a lather, letting it sit for around 5 minutes to fully penetrate and process, rinse and follow with conditioner. This shampoo really does an amazing job clarifying my hair without leaving it feeling it dry like many others do because it is pH balanced. I got highlights in my hair in May and since then, my hair has been the driest it's ever been. I had tried so many different masks, shampoos, conditioners and nothing was working. I would get out of the shower and my hair would be in knots so bad that if I tried to brush it, my brush would get stuck and if I tried to pull, I would loose dozens of strands of hair in one tug. My hair had never been like that and I was panicking. I knew that highlights required maintenance but it wasn't until nexxus that I found a combo that worked for me. I was hesitant to use this shampoo after smelling it, but the reviews are amazing. My hair wasn't damaged, but I could use the extra healthy moisture from this shampoo. After my first use, I noticed my hair felt dryer and almost crispy. I had just colored my hair the day before, so I figured it was that. I used it again 2 days later and it was worse, I now have split ends. I'm working on growing my hair out after damaging and buzzing it off a year ago, so I do not want to have to trim it. Title says it all! I bleach my hair (constantly) because I can never seem to stick to just one color. Now when you do this as often as I do your hair starts to not only look like but feel like a broom too. I used this shampoo and the same brand conditioner. After one use it made my hair less frizzy and brought bounce back to my hair, like it actually moves when I do and it's not stiff! Definitely recommend buying multiples of this since it's on sale at the time of writing this (2 for $12!). Although I don't see what some people are upset about as far as their hair going back to being greasy right away, I think it may just be because everyone's hair is different and requires different types of care.

I have been using the Shea Moisture conditioner for approximately two weeks and was provided them by #trywithtopbox as a #freeproduct for my honest review. I have fine, thin, waist length hair that is naturally blonde starting to go grey, that is prone to split ends and I would describe as normal to oily. I don't wash it daily but every 2 to 3 days it's just too much work to do daily. I used the conditioner as directed and found that my hair combed out fairly easily even while still wet which was great as it tends to tangle quite badly when I don't use a good conditioner on it. My hair was soft and shiny and manageable. The container for this feels slightly greasy when I handle it during use even after rinsing them off. The conditioner bottle uses a pump as a dispenser which is great but I couldn't get the original one that came with the bottle to function. I replaced it with one I had but I noticed that the thick conditioner dries and forms a plug that takes several pumps to force out. Overall I would say this was a good product that worked as advertised and if someone was looking to try this I would recommend it, I'm not sure if it is the best choice for me given the frequency with which I wash my hair.MargarethaM

I received this as a #freeproduct through #trywithtopbox, but this review is 100% my honest opinion. I have fine 2A/2B hair that is coloured/bleached. I really struggle to find conditioning products that are repairing and hydrating for the colour, but not too heavy for my fine hair. Most conditioners really weigh my hair down and make it oily. I didn’t have that experience with the SM manuka honey and yogurt conditioner! First off – the scent is lightweight and really nice. It smells exactly like honey, but isn’t too sweet. The formula is hydrating but not heavy. It’s a thinner consistency than a lot of other repairing conditioners, which worked really well for me. I use one pump from the nape of my neck to my ends and let it sit for a few mins before washing out with cold(ish) water. I don’t believe that long term results can be identified without using the entire bottle, but I will say that my hair has been shinier, easier to detangle after washing, and less frizz since starting to use this product. The ends of my hair are usually the driest, and they seem to be less damaged and have less obvious split ends. I would absolutely continue to use this product, and will rebuy! The only thing I didn’t love is the packaging – the pump on my bottle didn’t really work, and had a hard time getting any amount of product out. Tried the smaller size to see if I would like. I do not. The smell reminds me of something with chemicals in it from childhood. I haven’t figured it out yet what that smell is. I have hypothyroidism and low hormonal levels for which I take meds & under-the-skin pellets (I’m female btw). I experienced hair fall thought to be due to testosterone levels increasing and was prescribed spironolactone and later, compounded 7% minoxidil. Spironolactone helped control my suddenly crazy oily skin and breakouts but I was still experiencing a ton of hair fall to the point️ that my hair was noticeably thinner and was prescribed this high dose of minoxidil twice daily. A side effect, which is rare apparently, was that it changed my normally shiny fine slightly wavy hair (which I had a lot of off) into a dry straw-like frizzy mess with crazy unmanageable waves. Stubborn waves that curled upwards and across the back of my head. I ended up cutting my mid to long length hair into a bob, added layers to help cut off the damage and make it more manageable and cuts every 3 weeks. I can’t do keratin treatments because I had one in the past and had an allergic reaction. I did the K18 mask and it made my hair noticeably softer, but my hair still looked frizzy and was still unmanageable. But once I started using this shampoo along with the mask, I finally saw some real results. I still have some frizz on the ends but the crazy wave is more relaxed and manageable, my hair is shiny again, and feels so soft. I use this shampoo daily and I think it’s been the cherry on the top, so to speak. I really really like this shampoo! I also use a hot brush to control frizz and add shine (it really makes a difference) and a balm and hair oil also purchased through LovelySkin. Wanted to love this shampoo because of all the hype around it. I have long thin hair with blonde highlights. I wash my hair every 5 days. I am 39 years old and have always had my hair long, around mid-back length. My hair has always been super healthy, I do not use heat on my hair and visit the salon regularly. This shampoo has made my hair shed significantly, even during the first wash. It would abnormally shed even during washes, clumps of hair would stay in my fingers, and my hair got dirty after 2-3 days. My hair became so dry, dull and would tangle at nothing. My hairdresser notice that something was off with my hair at my last appointment, and I had only used it once. I kept on using it thinking my hair would get used to it and that the shedding could be due to seasonal shedding (even though I had never experienced that before). After a few weeks, my hair kept shedding so much. I switched back to my usual shampoo (Redken) and my hair was instantly back to its normal, healthy and shiny state after the first wash. The Peptide Prep pH Maintenance shampoo is a great pair it the K18 repair mask. I also have the detox shampoo, but I feel like you could get away with just once of them. Although, there are some differences I spotted below: -The charcoal detox mask to me had a bit of a stronger scent, one that I enjoyed but if you don’t, you may enjoy this one more. The detox shampoo is also black-gray in color, this one is clear. -I found that both of them lathered very nicely, and made my hair and scalp feel so soft. I didn’t feel a drastic difference between the two. -The main difference I think between the two is that the detox is your deep-clean, and the peptide ph is like your everyday maintenance. The textures and way they left my hair to me were very similar. I was already a huge fan of the K18 hair repair mask, and I would recommend to a friend and to anyone who loves soft hair. I’ve tried brands like Olaplex, and I feel like k18 products definitely lasts longer than them. A great investment, even though it’s not as well-known yet, I’d say go for this one if you want a product that will perform!savannahceleste

I love olaplex 3 and 9 , I hated the 4 and 5 original because it weighed my hair down and it made my scalp unhealthy. I tried this shampoo on a whim because the quai detox shampoo was sold out at the time. When I used this product it felt okay like my hair felt cleanish after my regular double cleanse method. However the next day my scalp was oily and itchy and I don’t suffer from dandruff. I wash my hair once a week and I wanted to wash my hair again by day two. I waited to shampoo my hair to see how bad it would be by the 1 week mark and I had flakes. My scalp was overly oily almost tacky and very itchy. I ordered the k18 detox shampoo when it launch and I’m on day 4 and my scalp has NO build up no flakes. This shampoo might work for some but this was not for me. I’m a massive fan of Olaplex, it’s become a massive part of my self care routine and it will remain that way for as long as they sell these products! The number 3 mask is one of my all time favourite products, the difference I’ve noticed in my hair since using it has been massive and I’d recommend it to anyone. The shampoo lathers up unlike any other shampoo I’ve ever used and makes my hair feel so clean and nourished after using. The conditioner is easy to spread throughout your hair and is enough to use on its own without the masks. The number 8 mask is so good for adding moisture back into your hair after all the protein building. Love!Holly S
Whether it’s the Olaplex #5 Conditioner, or one of the many other Olaplex products. My color clients won’t buy anything for their hair care needs but Olaplex. From day one I have been impressed with the amazing quality and performance of this product line. I've used this shampoo before, and loved it. This bottle had what I can only describe as plastic particles, shaped like "beads" in it. When I was shampooing in the shower, I thought it was odd that there were "beads" in the shampoo, but assumed that they were maybe moisturizing beads like you'd find in body or face wash, so I used the shampoo. As I was rinsing out, I could feel that these "beads" weren't coming out of my hair and I started to panic. It took me close to an hour to comb out all of these "beads" from my wet hair. I contacted customer service, and while I did receive a refund, they didn't try to communicate with me what these "beads" could be and why they were in this bottle of shampoo. I offered to send it back so that they could see it themselves, but they told me it wasn't necessary. While, the customer service was prompt and friendly, I can't say I'm satisfied with the outcome. I'll probably purchase again, but only in-store so that I can look at the product before.andrea l.
I was SO excited to try this shampoo and conditioner. First of all it smells amazing and left my hair smelling incredible just like the lotion and spray smell. It lathers well and a little goes a really long way which is great because it's very expensive considering how small the bottles are. BUT it made my hair SOOOO dry. I am so sad because it's expensive and the bottles are small and it messed my hair up so bad. I didn't have any issues with my hair before I started using these and my hair was silky and shiny and now it's like straw and just dull and frizzy. I'm just so disheartened. It hurts me to leave this review because I ADORE Sol de Janeiro and haven't disliked any of their products but this one was just really bad for my hair and damaged it.Ceci
I've been using this shampoo for the last couple years, and I swear it's changed. The last three or four bottles have been so watery! You used to have to squeeze to get the stuff out. It was the consistency of thick ketchup, you know? Like a sauce. Now I feel like I should throw ice cubes in and drink it. When I shake the bottle it sloshes around—never used to. And when I go to use it, it's all too easy to pour out too much. I used to say it was worth the price because it smelled delicious and a little went a long way. I can't say that anymore, so I've got to find a new brand. Bummer.Jodi
