20 Best Shampoo And Conditioner For Curly Frizzy Hair (Jan 2023 Update)

I am in love with Pureology Smooth Perfection Shampoo! This is my first time trying Pureology and I had no idea what to expect. The first thing I noticed about the smooth perfection shampoo was the scent, I loved the hints of cocoa. Upon first application I decided to use a small amount and I am glad I did, a little bit goes a long way with this shampoo. I have really long hair and I only had to use a quarter size amount or less. I want to point out that I always have to use a handful of shampoo when I use my usual drugstore brand, so I was shocked by how little I had to use of the pureology. I massaged the shampoo in my hair for a good 1 to 2 minutes and then proceeded to wash it out. My hair felt so soft and clean without feeling stripped at all. I typically have a lot of fallout when I wash my hair, but noticed less strands of hair coming out while washing. I followed up by using the pureology smooth perfection conditioner. I also use a quarter size amount or less and it was more than enough. I focused this conditioner at the ends of my hair and put whatever was leftover on my roots. I let the conditioner sit for the recommend time of 1 to 2 minutes and then proceeded to wash it out. I felt like it took no time to wash all of the conditioner out. My hair was less tangled and overall felt so much healthier than what I am used to. I used the smoothing lotion on the ends of my hair, blow dried my hair and was so amazed by the end result. The end result after I blow dried and straightened my hair was incredible. My hair was less frizzy and more straight making it so easy to straighten. I would like to add that my hair is very wavy/curly and frizzy after washing. The price for the Pureology Smooth Perfection set is a bit expensive, but honestly it is worth every penny. I would definitely recommend this Pureology line of haircare products. Pureology Smooth Perfection is my new Holy Grail of haircare.amber.o

I got this product complimentary from Influenster and Pureology for my honest review. I really loved how this product worked for my hair. It left it so smooth and silky. It lathered really nicely and felt great when I washed it. It also rinsed out nice and easy and left my scalp feeling great. When I blew my hair dry it was like silk. Absolutely fabulous! Only negative, which I was REALLY surprised about, was the scent of this product. It was not pleasant at all to me and not something like I’ve ever smelled in a shampoo. I didn’t like it and for me that is important in a shampoo. I have other Pureology products and love their scents. it’s just this one that I couldn’t tolerate. Otherwise, I love how the product works, but due to the scent I would not buy this product. Sorry but it’s just my honest opinion. I only like haircare that has a nice pleasant smell and this one fell short in that area. It was almost like lightly nutty and musky and sour all mixed together. Hard to explain but it was not like typical haircare scents. For those that don’t care about how a shampoo smells, this would probably be good for you because it does work for smoothing and shine. I received this product from influencer pureology, but all opinions are completely my own. I have enjoyed using this shampoo. I find that the combination of the shampoo conditioner does help smooth my long hair and does really help smooth frizz. The shampoo cleanes hair great, good lather though it can make hair feel only slightly stripped. Conditioner is a nice one that helps smooth but doesn't overdo it and cause hair to feel heavy. Both help cleanse and Condition my hair without feeling too dry or too weighed down. The heat protectant from this line is nice and I feel it helps smooth hair and help make it somewhat softer. It doesn't help much with tangles though. Overall a good smoothing system that helps with frizz. I would recommend anyone trying it out.shona.d

I was searching for a new go to shampoo and conditioner, something for my fine but thick, damaged and frizzes easily hair (its humid in the south), as I'm growing it out since I had to do a big chop. I did alot of searching online reading reviews on all products, that was my make or break on finally making a purchase. WTBS I'm super happy with this product and have been using it for over a month before even writing a review. The shampoo is so fragrant, it WOW'd me, it doesn't smell that strong out the bottle, I love it, but if you are sensitive to strong scents you might not like it, but after using over a week or so, you get used to its power and enjoy it alot. Lathers well, my hair feels super clean and soft, mega sleek is exactly what you get with this combination. When blow drying you can still smell the luxurious smell, faintly not over powering but where you know your hair smells SO GOOD! My frizz and fly aways are definitely helped by this product. I normally straighten my hair almost daily, but since my big chop and I'm growing out my natural hair, I want it super healthy and the least amount damaged as possible, so right now no flat iron only blow drying and it looks very good! I haven't had a haircut in over 22 weeks so I can only imagine how it would look straightened with the help of this Mega Sleek. This will be my shampoo and conditioner for a long time. The conditioner is nice and slimey (if you have hair like mine that will tangle horribly and you need a slimey conditioner just to be able to comb it after.. my hair is shoulder length now, but used to be LONG, my hair acts no different with a different length), its very conditioning and works very well!!! I have zero complaints on both these products and do recommend! Only warning is the scent if you are sensitive, you can always try and return, but give it a fair chance. I honestly love this stuff and so glad I found the right product so I can stick with something that makes me and my hair happy. FINALLY!! P.S. I really love that this product truly makes my fizzy, wavy hair less frizzy and sleek! I come out of the shower with shiny hair and it seems to stay much more tame than with standard shampoos!! I am very happy with this shampoo! This shampoo has little to no scent, so it's great for people who also prefer mild-scented hair products! I usually buy Aveda smooth infusion but they changed the formula/product and reviews aren't great. So I tried this. I am completely surprised at how much I love it! It smooths my hair nicely on straight hair days but also makes my curls so happy on curly days. Great price. Does everything you would want your shampoo and conditioner to do. Thank you! This conditioner is amazing! Of all the conditioners I’ve ever used (I’m in my 20’s so I’ve been through a looot of conditioners!) this one is by far the best. I don’t need a huge amount of it to get my hair untangled, and when I do brush through it I barely have any tangles at all. It’s also very gentle on my hair and the smell is light and not overpowering. So impressed with this product and very glad to have found it. Okay, at first I was suspicious about this product because I really only knew Sun Bum for their sunscreen so I was a little confused seeing they did products for hair. But guys…this product is AMAZING. As someone who constantly buys products to help her curly hair, this has been a life changer. I bought this on a whim because I was like, what's the harm in another product supposedly for curly hair? Boy was I surprised!! I used to cowash because I was having such a hard time keeping my hair from getting frizzy but as a consequence my roots would get kinda greasy and sometimes my curls didn't look as hydrated as the cowash would advertise. Finallyyyyy I found a product that actually hydrates my hair, makes it look great curly, and isn't making it frizzy or puffy. The only con about this product is that I really really wish they made versions of this product in larger bottles because the conditioner tends to go quickly especially if you have long curly hair like me. Delicious! Smells so good! I bought it to control frizz in my wavy hair. I am using in conjunction with the Curls & Waves Styling Creme and it is a nice combo for soft hair. I see a few bad reviews, understandable. I didn't look at the ingredients list which I guess I should have. I usually buy this at my salon but just ordered it from here. I think this line smells AMAZING. It smells like you left the salon every time you wash your hair. My hair feels soft and clean afterwards and doesn't leave a residue or make my hair fall out at all. I don't usually leave reviews for products but this conditioner was a miracle in a bottle. My hair has been so dry and I've always spent at least 30 minutes detangling that it stresses me out and I usually end up procrastinating and only brush it once every few days and it is DREADFUL. Then I bleached and dyed my hair purple because ya know, f it? I was thinking of shaving my head if it went wrong. And yeah, it did. My hair has been drier than before and super frizzy. The saying a little goes a long way applies here. I used less than a quarter size dollop to wash my past shoulder length hair. The lather was amazing, and let's not forget the the lovely citrus smell. My curls have stayed in days longer than with any other curl shampoo. Aveda products have a great reputation and is a well known stable product. I tried this shampoo for approximately 6 months and it didn't suit my curly/wavy hair. Nice looking professional packing that smells delightful. Unfortunately I am unable to list and visible benefits to the appearance/texture of my hair so promptly stopped using it. So sorry to say this isn't for me, we are all different. I would recommend try before you buy if possible. I personally will not be using again. I started using Wow products 3 weeks ago and can see a definite change in my hair and skin! I sought out Wow because my hair was thinning and falling out. Im not sure if it was my diet changes or my age (49) that caused the fall out but it didnt matter. My hair is now growing, getting thicker and healthier. I haven't seen a change in fall out yet but I have no doubt these products will eventually stop it. Right now my hair is full and wavy so I dont really notice the thinning as much. I use the coconut shampoo and condition with saw Palmetto twice a week after the onion oil. I use according to directions and rinse with cool water. Afterward I use the leave in conditioner. Wow! Best shampoo I have ever used by far! I have spent years trying to find a shampoo that doesn’t make my hair a tangly matted mess but this cleans my scalp and give my hair slip and hydration at the same time, I have dry curly / wavy hair that gets split ends and breaks easily and I have noticed a significant different in the ends and over all appearance and feel of my hair since using this shampoo and the correlating conditioner. The shampoo has a decent lather and you don’t need much of it as a little goes a long way. The only downside is that for me this product was a lot more than what I’d usually spend on a shampoo/ conditioner but is definitely worth the investment for something that actually works for my hair for once.sophie.b

I really wanted to like this but I just couldn’t so I returned it. The scent was the most part for me… I expected the same scent as the original Moroccanoil Hair oil so maybe my expectation was high? It was almost like those glade spray fresh clean scent to me. I have long hair (almost touches my coxis; half of it is dyed because I’m trying to achieve a melted effect.. from my natural dark brown to grey) So my ends need help to maintain its elasticity, moisture and prevent split ends. I got everything from this brand that I was able to afford to start taking care of it . (Repair, protect and restorative products) It has passed 2 weeks and I’m planning on keep washing my hair every 3-4 days; I have experienced NO frizz as before, no tangle hair, it’s feels soft , smell great, more manageable. I was very disappointed I love this shampoo I have ordered it a couple other times. I did not know they had smaller bottles and I probably would have known by the price but it said $5 and something off that would be approximate price with that added on for the next size which is much larger. okay yeah I think it was costly for the size but the bottle that lid was not tight. is Ashley leaks out in a plastic bag thank goodness for that down to where the label starts. I don't remember if they had white protectors when you open the lid to pull off I can't remember that. I will not bother bringing it back I need some now. if there was something supposed to be over the top of that bottle, it is a little scary. I don't think there's anything that could have been put in there that would harm my head less they put something in it to seep into my brain that's bad haha LOL seriously I think it should be safe to use. I recently purchased this shampoo from my hair salon because I went from bleached hair back to my dark brown roots! I needed something to hydrate my damaged dry fine hair that was also color safe!! I’ve only used this once as of right now and so far it’s great!! My hair didn’t fade really at all after using it and I do feel like it helped my hair be not as dry and frizzy!! This has got to be my favourite line from kerastase! My hair type is very thick, over processed hair with a natural wave. I find it hard to find a shampoo which nourishes my hair and that doesn’t leave it even more dry and thirsty then it already is. This shampoo- the consistency of this is amazing , thick and creamy , hair feels instantly nourished while I’m washing it. Feels like a layer of protection is on the hair (the keratin I suspect) beautiful! As it’s so thick and creamy you don’t need to use lots of this shampo ! 100 recommend if you have similar type of hair like me. Hard to brush, knotty , over processed, wavy thick hair. Honestly, since I started using this shampoo with the conditionner, my curls came back to life. I have very thick and curly hair and this shampoo along with the conditionner really helped reduce the frizz and dryness of my hair and a little really does go a long way so you can make it last! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the price point: it's PRICEY. And I really wished that they offered bigger format for a more "economic" alternative especially for people with longer and thicker hair that obviously need to use more of the product than thinner hair. Other than that, it's an investment that I will continue to make for now as I have not found anything else that helped my curls as much as this product. It's worth the try!Mery97

I have naturally curly unruly coloured treated for decades hair that I use hairdryer & straighteners on. I further abuse my hair by swimming outdoors a lot over tge summer in the sunshine. I was a big Aveda Smooth Infusion fan until I finally listened to my Tony & Guy hairdresser & started using these Olaplex products to repair my badly treated hair & maintain the colour. I am now an Olaplex convert. My hair condition instantly improved after one wash, it smooths my hair better than Aveda Smooth Infusion. It is more concentrated that the Aveda Smooth Infusion so a 250ml bottle of Olaplex lasts much, much longer than the Aveda Smooth Infusion. I have just returned from a week swimming for hours everyday in Greece. Chlorine, sunshine, colour treated unruly hair, hairdryer & straighteners everynight = hair abuse I know. I used Olaplex everynight. I returned with my hair in good condition, the colours maintained & I brought most of the 250ml bottles back of each product. I bought this for my wife and she use this with the No 0, No 3, and the No 5. I must say the combo of these together is amazing. Her hair was pretty much destroyed frome excessive styling, blow drying and box dyes. We could totally tell a difference after just one use of these products together. Her hair looks healthier, has more shine and manageability, doesn't look as damaged, she isn't yanking out knots when she wakes up and brushes her hair plus it just feels so soft and looks smooth not frizzy. It seems like the texture, strength, and even the way her hair is laying is totally changing. The smells not over powering which is something we both love because sometimes hair fragrances clash with perfumes but not Olaplex it's perfectly balanced. The bottles aren't the biggest which was kind of a let down but you don't need near as much as other shampoos so it seems like it will last just as long as a big bottle of regular shampoo. It lathers and rinses out amazingly! The pure magic that comes out of those bottles can't be beat and it's so worth it! The duo of the conditioner, shampoo and other products used together can't be matched or beat! Her hair and her self imaging is healing and getting better after each use. I’ve been having issues with thinning and breakage for a couple of years now and it really does seem like I’ve tried almost everything. I kept my expectations low but since a lot of friends have used and liked Olaplex I decided that it would be worth it to try and so far it has been. Obviously it can’t cure thinning due to stress/genetics but the texture of my hair has approved tenfold since I started using the No 0, 3,4,and5. Since my hair is quite fine and thin I use the bond building treatment and hair perfecter 1-2 times a week for the past month. Honestly I am stunned at the results. Since it’s not a permanent fix but a treatment, you do have to continue using it. I did read somewhere that there’s no way for it to permanently fix your already damaged hair but it can definitely treat it while the damage grows out. It doesn’t weigh my hair down, there’s no apparent residue, and it felt healthier and looked healthier after only the first try and has consistently improved since. I’ve tried so many products that just seem to sit on top of my hair and reflect light instead of actually improving anything texturally. I was also stunned at the quality of the product, not just in effect but a little really does go a long way in each one of my products. It smells and feels amazing. I could clearly go on. I’m just so pleasantly stunned! I had read some very negative reviews and was prepared to just take a chance and I’m thrilled and impressed with the results. It’s made me finally feel like I can get my hair back to something I love again. The textured hair journey can be so frustrating! For a year or so, I’ve watched all the YouTube videos and tried all the “specialty”/pricier curl products with no success. On a whim, I decided to try this because of how affordable it is (while still being free of parabens, sulfates, etc). I am OBSESSED with my hair! I can’t get over it. I have pretty course hair (my natural hair is grey and I’ve been color treating it for over 20 years), and I can’t remember there ever being a time when my hair was so soft, and bouncy, and shiny! On non-wash days, I just have to re-wet my hair with a water bottle and diffuse, and it looks just as good as day 1. On wash days I use the Curl Nourish shampoo in combo with the Curl Nourish conditioner, followed by a little Sleek & Shine leave-in conditioner and the Curl Shape defining spray gel (both also Garnier). Then I diffuse and voila – body and shine and bounce. Did I mention I’m obsessed? As I have learned well, everyone’s hair is unique and what works for one curly girl won’t work for another, unfortunately. But maybe this review will help someone else who’s just as frustrated as I was, and maybe these amazing and affordable products will work for you, too. If not, don’t give up! I really enjoyed this shampoo even though I had some issues with the conditioner in this 3 step system. The smell is good and it definitely cleaned my hair well– it lathers nicely. I did not have any issues with my hair becoming more oily with this shampoo ( I tried washing my hair a few times with only the shampoo and then using the spray between washes that deemed to help for me). the first time I used the product, once my hair air dried, I definitely noticed my wavy hair being more wavy textured than normal. this was something that was consistent with the use of this shampoo (the conditioner just seemed to increase the oil in my hair which took away from any beautiful waves I may have had ). I really wanted to like this product! I was excited to try it, It smells greattt! But I naturally have super thick/long hair and it did not do a good job of making my hair feel clean. My hair still felt dirty, greasy and itchy when I got out of the shower. It also produces very little suds, which is something I need a lot of to properly clean my thick hair. I work at Ulta so naturally I love trying different products. Since it’s close to summer I wanted to stop styling my hair and instead start wearing it natural (in the summer it’s just way too hot to style my thick hair and the humidity makes it not last anyways!). However, I have wavy hair with the potential to be curly with the right shampoo/ styling products. So, I wanted to try the coconut curls line to see if I could enhance my waves/ curls and it worked! It also smells so good and I got so many compliments. I recommend not only getting the shampoo and conditioner but also the styling milk and finishing mist! I don’t usually leave reviews, but this shampoo solved one of my most irritating daily struggles. For a while, I’d been getting out of the shower and my scalp was still visibly oily and gross and I tried everything to fix it. My hair has always been fine but now that I'm 58, on hormones and thyroid meds, my hair is thin. I first tried Full shampoo almost a year ago and didn't notice a change in my hair. I was given another bottle in May and tried it again. I was amazed. My hair was more full and manageable within a week or so. I then saw the Flourish shampoo and thought the description was exactly for me. Unfortunately, it was not and I started to see thin spots on my temples. I also noticed the Flourish shampoo does not lather the way the Full shampoo does. It makes it hard to be sure you have applied it to your whole head. Normally I wouldn't care about lather but when it is a treatment shampoo it is needed to ensure you get coverage. I have frizzy , fine hair and the davines love smoothing shampoo really helps a lot with the smoothing process even before I use styling aids. This range is Rich in fatty acids and vitamins, I always want products that have a lot to offer. The formula has a high percentage of biodegradable ingredients. The davines brand is also sulphate free so people that have Brazilians or any color/ chemical treatment done can use it. The packaging is reusable. This is the best shampoo I have ever used! I received a sample of it in my subscription box and was amazed at the fact that it had more then one use in it! She has a healthy head of very fine, very varied coil curls. The shampoo worked great on very wet hair, it lathered well for a clarifying shampoo without turning her hair into dry grass. I rinsed twice to make sure the water ran well and clear. The conditioner was light and moisturizing, as promoted. I took the time to work it into all strands while damp to slightly wet with a curly hair wet brush. Afterward rinsing the conditioner lightly, I put in the styling cream. Here I realized I'd put in way too much, but the effect was still very good. Her curls were less prone to tangling, moisturized and made beautiful defined coils. My hair is fine but wavy, not curly. However my hair is super dry. I like using heavily moisturizing products from time to time to feed my hair. The products were too heavy for fine straighter hair, but it really moisturized heavily. My hair has a healthy strong feel and a beautiful glisten that it has after a moisturizing hair mask. This shampoo is an absolute Miracle product for anyone with any kind of issues with scalp or hair thinning. It's not a well-known brand but everybody should know about this because it's phenomenal. I originally started using this because I could not find a product that would work to help with my dry itchy scalp as well as occasional oily hair that what present throughout the day. Once I started using this shampoo within days any conditions that I had had were completely gone and my hair was a lot thicker softer and completely it's free. No other product has ever worked like this for me. I would definitely recommend this to anyone as it stimulates the scalp removes any buildup that can cause too much oil leading to clogged hair follicle causing dry scalp. Due to hormonal changes I began losing hair to point you could see my scalp around my crown. I have 3B hair that dries out easily. After trying various treatments and vitamins I was recommended this product. It is more expensive than many other products however it is the first thing that actually worked. I love love love this ! I’ve been using it for about 2 years now and my hair still hasn’t gotten used to it like I’ve experienced with other shampoo product lines. When my hair gets used to a shampoo and/or conditioner it will stop working as expected, resulting in me switching up products. This shampoo doesn’t really have a smell. It clarifies my scalp and hair of hair products and allows healthier hair growth. My hair has never looked better than with using this shampoo. I will sometimes use this on my scalp/top head area and then use the Surface Bassu Hydrating shampoo half way down to the ends to prevent any loss of hydration in my hair extensions. You don’t want to put the Bassu Hydrating shampoo on your extension tapes though; it will weaken the tape bond. This shampoo is also great to use before you put in extensions. This ensures that there’s no hair product residue on your hair where you’re going to attach your tape in extensions! I highly recommend this whole hair care product line!megan.m

This spray works so well! We tried it for the first time this morning and it brought my son's curls to life! It's called a gel spray, but doesn't leave a crunchy feel which is great. The scent smells good, but is a little strong. I wish they made a version of this that was combined with the lice repellent spray just for daycare protection, but thats not a complaint.amber.s

In my household, at any one given time, I've got a handful of their products in rotation. This particular line doesn't get as much hype as their others but should. The Daily cleanse shampoo is amazing. It is gentle, yet effective even on the oilest heads. I have three children under the age of 10 that all have different hair types and use this shampoo. I have type 3c curly hair and my daughter hair is type 2c curly hair and it worked amazing on both of our hair. It detangled quickly on both hair and left both hair soft. It's a little expensive running about 10 to 11 dollars a bottle. Im Telling you though it's worth it. It's not just for curly hair either. I’m one to put conditioner on my hair and leave it on for 5-20 minutes depending on how I feel. My hair feels absolutely amazing when I use the conditioner. I’ve tried to stay away from coconut oil products but this product is great. Would defiantly recommend this to any curly girl! I love the pump it makes it easy to use especially since I wash my hair in the sink and water often runs over my eyes. The packaging is super cute and the coconut image across the top band let me know without having to read that there is coconut something in it. My hair did feel a lot softer after I used it.
