I have been using this shampoo for the last few months. Not only does it give exceptional deep multi tone coverage , it seems to bring out the highlights in my hair. I also have grey hair only around my face and was tired of permanently dying my hair. You cannot tell that I have any grey! It seems to both cover them and the few which are resistant actually look a bit dirty blonde. I do keep the shampoo on my head the entire time I bathe and lather it in first at the facial hairline where the grey is located and work back the lather. I use a natural home made conditioner 30 minutes before washing my hair so I have no need to use any conditioner after rinsing my hair (which I begin wetting my hair in hot water before shampooing and then rinse the shampoo in warm water briefly, ending with cold water). I decided to try out this combo shampoo and conditioner and upon first and second use I was pretty impressed. I used them both the day after a partial highlight and found that it kept my hair light and soft which can be hard to accomplish the day after a highlight. Sometimes my hair would come out of the first at home wash fluffy and a little dry. With the product itself I'm happy with, however here are some issues: 1. If you keep the bottle standing upright the product can be hard to get to the top. Even shaking it multiple times only a portion of it gets comes to the cap. I found that I had to keep it sitting upside down in order not to sit in the shower shaking it for a minute or two. 2. If you keep the bottle upside down the product comes out of the cap from the back and the sides. Also, when you use it normally, a lot of the product gets caught in the cap when you open and close it. Outside of the issue with the packaging and the product being a little hard to get to the top, it's one that I would buy again and keep in the rotation.Ashley
With this oil you're basically just paying for expensive smelling silicone. No joke, in my hands it basically just feels like lubricant. Takes forever to wipe off my hands, can't imagine how much it's gunking up my hair. It does smell really nice, and it does smooth the hair down, but I don't believe it's helping make the hair healthier at all in the long run and might even be detrimental for dry curls like mine. 1 star for smell, 1 for absorption. This product definitely helped brighten but I found it a little drying the first couple tries. I paired it with a heavier hair mask in other washes and that helped a little. The shampoo seriously smells so good, and is a gorgeous rich dark blue color with more of a liquid consistency. I read reviews about it being messy and difficult to clean up, but I have been using it in the shower and followed instructions and have not had any issues at all (no blue stains on the tub, shower curtain, or my hands). My hair is soft, smooth, shiny, and the color just looks more rich and vibrant. My hair is natural, but these products are meant for natural or color-treated hair which I think is cool. I used this shampoo with the conditioner after my stylist friend told me to try a blue shampoo. I have naturally medium brown hair. After having highlights over the summer for the first time ever I had my hair dyed back to the original brown. I used only this shampoo and conditioner all summer. So i didn’t actually use this. My stylist had told me to use blue shampoo to keep my brunette highlights from turning brassy. I initially brought a salon brand but ended up staining my tub/shower completely Smurf color and returned it. It was ridiculously pigmented. So I saw this in store and thought ‘hey! A cheaper version, maybe it will work just as well and maybe it’s not so pigmented.’ I was in a hurry so I didn’t even think about reading the label. The 2nd and 3rd ingredients listed on this shampoo are SLS/SLES. Isn’t that the whole purpose of the shampoo to help maintain your color? Why are sulfates basically the number one ingredients? I read the reviews on Amazon first before purchasing and fell in love. This shampoo is a deep deep purple, and it will stain your hands if you don't rinse them off. First hand experience here *pun intended* The smell of it wasn't gross like some other brands (looking at you Clairol Shimmer Lights). It actually will turn your hair ashy! This shampoo is amazing. Ive recently bleached my own hair and then had highlights and still had a very yellow colour due to my hair being box dyed brown for so long. I remember "splurging" on this set when I was in college and feeling so boujie. I'm pretty sure I spent $15 each on the shampoo and conditioner when I was in Target last month so it's doubled in price since college… I like it enough to use it up but I won't buy again. I love this stuff. It is like no other shampoo and conditioner i have ever used. My hair has a very slight tint to it. What i mean is you can't really tell the difference. But let me tell you there is a difference. Hair is so soft and shiny. It does not cover my grey but more blends it in. Different tones of brown. I wanted to try blue toning shampoo and bought the trial sizes to give this a shot. I have always used purple and saw very little results. I read the directions very quickly, I didn't use gloves and I used a white towel to try my hair. I didn't even think of the blue color that was deposited into my hair I used this product for the first time yesterday and all I can say is WOW! I did see blue everywhere but it didn't stain my shower, hands, nails or my towels. My highlights looked brighter and I think I even saw more of them and I was impressed with just one use. The smell was nice but I thought it was too strong but once you dry your hair the smell disappears. Not sure if I will use this shampoo more than maybe once or twice a week because I don't want to darken my highlight I just want to see less brass and red. If you are hesitant to try this product because of the blue color you could use gloves and I would definitely use it in the shower so that the product washes out once it hits the floor you could even keep a brush in your shower if you want to make sure no blue residue lingers behind. All toning shampoos have color the purple once I used before does and I never had an issue. Everyone's experience is different but I would definitely give this product a try.Tophersmom
I haven't changed anything in my hair care routine except this. The first time I used it, meh it did the job and made my hair a lot brighter. Mind you I only use this twice a month because purple shampoo is so harsh. The second time I used this, HOLY DRYNESS. It literally sucked every bit of moisture out of my hair and turned my hair silver, which was fine, but I looked like a hag due to the frizz. I've never experienced such harshness from a product. I've had to completely reset my hair by not putting any heat or this shampoo on my hair for a month. It ruined my hair for my graduation and I couldn't be anymore disappointed in this product. Not to mention it doesn't lather at all and I felt like I had to use a ton of it to clean my hair. This product really does reverse brassy tones, but it isn't worth sucking all the moisture out of your hair.Anamolly
This shampoo from Redken smells amazing. To me it smells like a soft cologne scent. This shampoo looks so cool..it is purple. The product felt soft on my hands and in my hair. It does say to appy wearing gloves but I did not wear gloves. The shampoo did not stain my hands. My hair is very yellow blonde and very warm tone and this shampoo did work. After I blowed dried my hair I could see that my hair was a bit more cooler blonde and the yellow and brassiness was tone downed. I'm giving this a 4 instead of a 5 because I wish when washing my hair the shampoo foamed more. It did not create that soapy shampoo feeling and that kinda made me use more product because I wanted to make sure I got my hair cleaned and had the shampoo everywhere. I also wished this shampoo was vegan but I dont believe it is. Redken does offer some vegan products though. Overall I'm really pleased with this shampoo and will continue to use it.danielle .l

I love this shampoo! It has no paranens, so it is a silky texture in your hands and on the hair which is perfecr for color treated hair. It smells like a salon quality shampoo with a great price point. I’ve recently used Ion Color Brilliance in 5G and this shampoo has done an incredible job with color protection, shine, and multi-toning my brunette. I’ve been using this, the conditioner, the After Color Sealer, and the Shine spray and my hair hasn’t been this healthy in awhile. My only suggestion to Ion…please make a bigger size of this!!

Hopefully this is a helpful review because I address some of the complaints I saw before writing this. My hair stylist suggested I use this shampoo, however because I have an extremely sensitive scalp( I even have to use steroids on my scalp a couple times a week) so I still only use Free&Clean shampoo & conditioner directly on my scalp which I wash twice because of oil build up. But then I use the Redken Blue Toning shampoo on the rest of my hair just not the scalp.. my hair is down to my butt and very thick and wavy so I use a lot of product. I've read reviews saying it doesn't lather, but honestly it lathers really well and I'm guessing they must have so much oil in their hair they haven't done a quick wash and rinse first or use too much daily product so they probably need to wash twice anyways. I have the shampoo sit on my hair for 5 minutes. During that time I rinse off the shower curtain and walls to wash away the blue (c'mon people… it will only stain if you let it sit) then I rinse out and have the conditioner sit for 5 minutes and it is NIGHT & DAY from when I used to get highlights. I started using this right after highlights and after almost 2 months my color still looks perfect without the brassy or red. I wished I had this the past 10 years because my hair has faded copper/brassy my whole life. I'm obsessed and will continue using on all my hair and just avoiding the scalp! i was recommended this by chris wenzel on youtube, hes a pro hair stylist. i have more straight than wavy, frizzy, oily scalp and very dry ends with some breakage (from permanent hair coloring) i used this 4 times. i shower every 4 days. in those weeks i had so much hair loss. clumps in the shower, clumps out of the shower. i was noticing tons of fallen hairs everywhere! i didnt change anything in my routine beside this shampoo. i was freaking out! my scalp was burning and itchy, but my hair looked amazing! i was so sad i couldnt use it anymore. i didnt have anymore salon brand shampoos in my house. only green apple suave (guest bathroom backup) and my hair fall instantly stopped! after a week of washing with suave my hair was back to a few hairs falling a day.(normal) im sorry redken.. i will stick to only your conditioners. frizz dismiss is amazing.dre
I bought previous version of this shampoo and I loved it very much. It was perfect for me. New formula is not the same, unfortunately. I have thin natural hair which gets dirty every day, so I wash it every morning. With previous formula of this shampoo I could wash my hair once per two days and it really gave me a little volume. But now I don't get any kind of volume, my hair is flat. I use this shampoo with Redken Volume conditioner and my hair don't feel any volume at all. Also my hair gets greasy by the end of a day. This product is very concentrated, lathers great, smells amazing. But doesn't work for my hair type. If you have normal or dry hair, probably, you will like the results.Helga

My hair is about 90% gray with Wella Colorcharm 9NG all over. I’ve tried about four or five different color conditioners; each one comes out pretty blotchy and washes out so quickly.This is the only color shampoo I’ve ever tried and it sounded a little weird but it is absolutely perfect. Since I have various shades of blonde, the color takes differently but beautifully. Some strands are pink some areas are a little rose gold.The color doesn’t seep onto pillows, towels (I even use a white towel), or clothes and washes out gradually and beautifully. I use this about once a week to keep a light blush pink on my hair. Of course you can use it more and get more depth of color. I have natural blond hair that has a lot of natural dimension and highlights in it. However, like many women, my hair color has changed a bit after two kids, and doesn't pop the way it used to. Not to mention, I'm already starting to find a couple of white hairs here and there at 33, so I needed something that was going to tone my hair to make it a more vibrant cool toned color again that I had pre kids.I decided to try this out. Despite being for color treated grey/blonde I found it actually did a good job at lightening and brightening my natural hair, removing any of the lackluster yellow that's come into my hair since I had my kids. I thoroughly lathered throughout my entire hair and left it on for about 10 minutes just to see what it could do on natural hair. While it didn't have as drastic results as it would have on color treated hair, it definitely did the trick in lightening and brightening my natural locks and returning it to the more cool toned lighter blond that I had pre kids. It definitely took out a lot of the yellow tones which was huge to me.I now do it once a week just to keep up the slight color change. Its subtle and soft, but definitely worth the purchase. The product works great! I have natural black hair and bleached it once to make it vibrant red. I wash my hair daily, so the color faded pretty quick. I don’t want to go to hair salon again, so I randomly searched it on amazon to find this. I decided to give a try, and after several weeks, I found it very convenient to remain my hair color in a fairly bright red hue evenly. The color remains for 2~3 wash.However, I’m not giving it five stars because:Instead of using it like my normal shampoo, I need to squeeze 3 palms of the product to apply on my hair to reach the color change shown in my photos. I tried using a small amount and imagined the product staying on my hair longer would let the color soak in, but it didn’t work much. If you have long hair, you probably will run out of this very fast. It also dries my hair after rinsing it off, but could be solved with conditioner once.Anyway if you plan to use this, I recommend to apply a generous amount of it on your hair, and massage it through hair to have the even color, but not making a lot of foams. After waiting for a few mins, rinse it off and use conditioner once or twice under warm water since a steaming hot shower washes the new applied color off easily.Stephanie L.

I have brown hair with blonde on the middle/ends. I already have two different blonde shampoos (nexxus and John Frieda) both of which are a purple shampoo. They didn't seem to do much to my hair since my blonde was more of a honey(Ish) blonde (Slightly orange tones) Vs a bright blonde.. that's why I decided to give this a try! I decided to put the shampoo on my hair while it was dry and left it on for About 5 minutes (I have fine semi damaged hair that takes to color super quick and didn't want to end up with teal hair) so if your hair is the same I wouldn't leave it in any longer than that… anyways, WOW! This product definitely lightened you my blonde considerably and left the brown in my hair looking super shiny. There's no sun out today as it's raining so I can't say much about if it took red/orange tones out of my hair but it is soft, shiny and my blonde has lightened up! I'm shocked at how amazing this shampoo and conditioner is!!! I'm not joking I'm someone who uses salon shampoo not always but mostly I do. I've use probably 4 products from NYM. That being the pink bottle shampoo and conditioner the black shampoo bottle it has moon something in it…? lol And I think I've used the leave in conditioner. Anyways this shampoo is amazing!!! I have oily roots this had my hair so soft so shiny for 5 days my hair usually gets oily in 2 or 3 day's. I honestly didn't notice this toning my hair. But what I did notice is it made my hair look freshly colored if that makes sense. Maybe I have to use this more to see the effect. I bought this thinking I'd try this before I buy the redken blue shampoo to see if I like it. I've use this 3 times now along with the conditioner it didn't strip my color. It had a medium sud I didn't see any hair color come out washing my hair. Barely any shedding which is amazing! Even if u don't color your hair try this shampoo and conditioner. It's a great shampoo regardless you won't regret it. Oh the smell is amazing as well has a light vanilla sorta salon scent to it. I don't notice a scent in my hair after it drys. So if your someone who doesn't like scents in your hair you'll love this. I can't say enough great things about this shampoo and conditioner. It is just as good as my high-end stuff not even joking. after my first shipment got lost, I was excited because my hair is still strawberry orange on top and i was going light blonde. my hair is thick, med. length. and i may have noticed a small change in color, though it's not enough to be worth the cost. i might get a total of 5 washes and will still need more washes to get it to go lighter. im going to re dye and cross my fingers. the purple didn't help either.Pamela

I’ve also used this as the replacement for the Kumuda which I loved. The product is fine BUT the smell is very masculine and strong and the bottles are a pain. They aren’t the soft plastic of before but the more rigid plastic which is really slippy to hold and harder to squeeze. Also, both the shampoo and conditioner are in identical bottles and for the shortsighted, it’s a challenge to identify which is shampoo and which is conditioner. Even my husband has to check carefully and he’s not short sighted! Perhaps there is an environmental reason for the packaging change but it still needs to be fit for purpose. Also, if I leave the conditioner ‘open’, it dries and bungs up the nozzle. Again, just a fiddle and therefore not a product improvement.Nicky916
What has happened to the amazing range of shampoos Molten Brown used to do? Who made this terrible decision? From being the best out there they have descended into cheap horrible useless products! I got the conditioner first and then the shampoo, truth be told the bottles are a bit tricky to distinguish but it is not that big of an issue ( the conditioner is opaque in lighting, whilst the shampoo is transparent ). The smell is extremely subtle and fresh; it gives an air of refined luxury, although it does not last ( but that does not bother me since I use perfume ). As for the results, they are very promising, my hair felt and looked thicker and with more volume, from the first shower. I never used its predecessor, but this one gets the job done wonderfully and really does not deserve the hate it gets.a casual shopper

If the world ever ran out of oil and we were faced with a National Oil Crisis.. FEAR NOT! My head could support the world and all its oil needs. Like for real- for real, I could wash in the morning and by lunch look like I was on day 3 of “no ones gonna know” dry pooing. I have tried many products and unless I’m fresh out the salon I can never skip a wash without everyone knowing! I actually bought this for my son to help with his build up as he suffers from the same oily headed mess I do on top of teenage boy hygiene. I was shocked y’all. I wanted a clarifying shampoo in my hair routine due to having oily hair and using dry shampoo sometimes as well! I was stuck between OUAI and this Paul Mitchell one. $30 vs $15. I picked up the Paul Mitchell one from Ulta to give it a try. I have been using it for 6 months and I really like the feel of it! Definitely give it a try in between your normal shampoo! I have an oily scalp from seborrheic dermatitis and probably because it's just oily so I discovered Paul Mitchell Shampoo 2 for oily hair and it's the best. I buy a salon size at Paul Mitchell or a buy one get one at Ulta, works and lasts forever (see full review). But after living somewhere with soft water my whole life then moving to somewhere that's 100/100 on the hard water scale has been hard on my hair. I looked into Shampoo 3, which I associate with chlorine because decades ago when I was a swimmer I used this to protect my blonde hair. It was a different formula that was green then. Now my hair is dark blonde with darker roots (natural blonde) so it shows oil and buildup well. I have all kinds of filters to help with the hard water, but when it's that bad filters don't do much. This shampoo has a light blue tint and a subtle grapefruit scent. Shampoo 2 is clear with a softer lemon scent. I'm sensitive to dyes and fragrance and this doesn't bother me at all. I used this once a week and it really helps! I have so much volume after using this and my roots look great for days (I use another shampoo and wash my hair every other day). I really like this. I probably would need a purple shampoo to take the brassiness out of my blonde but I'm happy that this lets me go longer between washing my hair and does seem to remove some hard water buildup. This is drying. I just use it around my roots and then use a hair mask. If you have dry hair, then get in chlorine, then use this yes it will dry out your hair. But for my needs this has replaced shampoo 2

I bought the travel size of this shampoo to test out how it would do on my hair before I splurged on the big bottle. I was also a bit wary of the reviews that claimed it caused hair loss. I have wavy and thick hair with low porosity. I have a very dry, itchy, flakey scalp as well. I read that tea tree oil could help soothe your scalp, so I thought I would try it. I washed my hair as directed. Used about 3 dime sizes for my whole head and massaged it into my scalp. It lathers alright. Not much suds. That made me think that it wasn't cleaning my hair enough so I was tempted to put more shampoo on my head but I did not. The smell is very strong, but it does not linger in your hair post-wash. Usually, my head begins to itch after I wash my hair, but with this shampoo, there was no itch! So I was pleasantly surprised by that. I finished off my hair with the tea tree special conditioner. After I finished showering and dried my hair with a microfiber towel, I noticed no residue on my hair and it felt very clean! I couldn't see any flakes and my scalp wasn't itchy! Just from this, I am very impressed with this shampoo. To address the hair loss comments, I did not notice any significant hair loss when I used the shampoo. I am the type to shed a lot of hair as it is since I have thick hair. I also wash my hair about once a week, so I tend to lose a bit of hair because of that because stray hairs build up over that time. So this might not be good for someone who has thin hair or shampoos frequently. But for me, it works great. Hair loss was about the same or slightly less than usual. I washed my hair about 5 days ago and my hair is a lot less flakey and itchy. It still feels relatively clean with some oil started to build up on my hair. Best shampoo out there for oily dandruff ! Used a $400 prescription shampoo for 15 years and of course it worked, however one just can't Afford to keep using a $400 shampoo every day at a 30 day prescription. I'm a licensed stylist and always heard and was taught that Tea Tree has healing ingredients that Actually work . Never had the chance to use it. I got the shampoo and conditioner combo and used it for the first time today. Here are my thoughts: The "tingly" feeling is real. At first I thought it was burning my scalp but it's not. I have extreme dandruff and have tried RX shampoos to help that never worked. My scalp at least "feels" clean. I've seen a lot of reviews about hair falling out and mine did not at all. I have hashimotos disease which causes hair loss to an extreme so I expected clumps again. NOPE. Make sure to brush through your hair before you wash it! This prevents any extra breakage. The small is very strong. I love essential oils for their healing properties but the smells are awful. No exception here! Any tee tree product will smell like this BTW. DISCLAIMER: tee tree can be poisonous in raw form. If you have allergies, do not use this. For people with psoriasis this will not be for you. Keep out of reach from pets as it is poisonous to cats and dogs even as a topical product. Anything with essential oil products can be potentially dangerous and I urge you to research before you buy! I had used this shampoo many years ago and recalled it being a nice, basic product. Really liked that it was cruelty free too! I purchased a full liter bottle in September thinking it was a sound investment. Over time I noticed that I was shedding a lot more hair than usual — my brushes were loaded with loose hairs, my shower drain was clogging, and I was finding fallen strands all over the place. I also noticed that I was getting strange pimples on my scalp that went from being benign tiny bumps to open, bleeding sores overnight. The length of my hair started to feel brittle and excessively fine. I compared photos of my hair from July (when I was using a different shampoo) to December (after using a full liter bottle) and I've lost half my hair density. I'm horrified. I love Paul Mitchell products and the fact they are cruelty free and don't break the bank like some other hair care brands. However, I felt compelled to share my experience with this shampoo since I didn't see other reviews that did. I used this shampoo for about 6 weeks when I realized that it was causing little pimple-like bumps all over my scalp, and I realized I was also breaking out more around my hairline on my face. On top of that, I was noticing more hair than usual in my brush every time I would brush my hair but I thought maybe it was just me overthinking. Only in the last couple weeks I realized that my hair didn't actually feel as thick as it usually did and that's when I finally realized that I had lost a significant enough amount of hair from this shampoo that it was time to stop before I did further damage. First, as is everything AMIKA does, this conditioner smells so good. I use so many of their products that I sing their praises anytime I can. With that being said, I don't love this conditioner. I used the Triple Rx formulas prior to it being discontinued/changed to The Kure. I LOVED the Triple Rx formula but decided to switch up and try out Normcore as I have extremely healthy hair but tend to get oily in my crown area. I thought I was going to a 'lighter' or more balancing shampoo and conditioner . The name Normcore would lead you to believe it's formulated for normal hair balance but this conditioner leaves a very heavy residue and makes the hair in the back crown area feel gross and greasy. It even looks oily. I have tried repeatedly rinsing the area where it tends to deposit the most but without fail, the greasy look and feel is there once my hair dries. I find it very odd that Triple Rx NEVER left my hair feeling or looking greasy and its was a heavier formula for dry hair. I am truly bummed as I bought liters of the products. I may try The Kure when I need to reorder but I will definitely not be repurchasing this formula.Shanti K.
I got my virgin hair bleached and dyed bright red and did a LOT of research on color-safe shampoos. A lot of them have conflicting reviews, but I hesitantly went with Amika because it seemed to have less negative reviews overall and my hairdresser also recommended it. After dyeing and before the shampoo came in the mail, I rinsed my hair thoroughly just with cool water. Some dye came out, but not much (obviously because it was only water). When I used the shampoo, a lot of my dye came out! The water coming off my hair was like kool-aid. Afterward, my brand-new, salon-dyed hair was several shades lighter and more of a strawberry pinky-red. Some sections of my hair were even kind of orangey. It had lifted so much of the color! I'm not sure if it was the shampoo or the fact that my hair was dyed for the first time (because my hairdresser said sometimes dye doesn't stick to undyed hair??), but I'm extremely hesitant to try it again. I've since gotten my hair dyed darker, more of a burgundy red and am still looking for a shampoo that won't let me down! Otherwise, the shampoo had a nice, non-overpowering smell, and still cleans your hair very well even though it doesn't lather up like a shampoo with sulfates. I wrote a review on the shampoo just before this one, because sadly neither did anything for my hair. I wish the scent was stronger like the Amika scent, but it’s a little different smelling than the shampoo. This formula doesn’t seem to evenly spread out on the hair. It’s almost like once you get a lot in one spot it won’t distribute anywhere else unless you soak your hair under the water so I always end up over using this conditioner so my whole hair can be covered. This formula just didn’t do anything for my hair and I sadly won’t be repurchasing. My hair didn’t feel soft after using this and even brushing it once I was out of the shower was a nightmare. Its always so knotted every time. Love Amika products but this conditioner and shampoo I will have to pass on.

This Eva NYC Brass to Sass shampoo left my hair silky smooth, with a radiant shine and improved the tone of my brassy, dull strands. I'm very impressed with how much healthier my hair looks after washing with the Brass to Sass shampoo. It is wonderful to use a product that naturally improves the color of my hair. After just one wash, the tone appears much more even. After several applications, I can see a drastic improvement in the overall softness, shine, and color of my hair. I'm a natural brunette with a lot of variation in my hair colour. My baby hairs come in nearly blonde, and sunlight bleaches the ends of my brown hair to a lighter, brassy hue. I decided to try a free sample of Eva NYC "Brass To Sass" Shampoo and Conditioner in the hopes that it would bring out some rich chocolate tones and give my 'do a little more of an even complexion, so to speak. First of all, this stuff is HIGHLY pigmented, so make sure you wash your hands thoroughly after applying or wear gloves! It will leave blue stains on your bathtub, shower, and towels if you're not careful. That didn't really put me off, as it told me the product contains some strong toning ingredients. My second observation is that this actually smells really good! My hair smelt great after using. Finally, the shampoo is thick and sudsy, working up a satisfying lather. As far as results go, my review is mixed. I can't say I saw a visible difference after the few uses that came in my free sample, but not a lot of colour gets through my dark brown hair. If anything, it towned down the brassiness in my blonde baby hairs more than my brunette strands! That being said, my hair did feel really soft and looked lustrous after using the combined Brass To Sass Shampoo & Conditioner system. I would be interested in seeing how this looks after long-term use. I also imagine it would work wonders for somebody with lighter brown hair! As for the shampoo by itself, I would say it did give my hands that rubbery sort of feel when a cleanser strips a little too much oil, however after applying the conditioner, my hair felt fine. I would caution against using the shampoo alone as it may be a little too drying. I did feel that it gave me a good deep clean, however! I would recommend this product to someone with light to medium brown hair who is not looking to achieve dramatic results. The subtle cool tones these Eva NYC products lend your hair are less noticeable for us dark brunettes. If it were not so pigmented (and thus messy) for an everyday shampoo otherwise, I would still recommend it for the shine and strength it lends your hair! You will leave the shower feeling and smelling like you've visited a salon. Applying the Brass to Sass shampoo to my dampened hair was interesting to say the least. The product is this beautiful pearly blue color with a silky texture that glides on smooth and almost feels like it locks onto the strands of your hair. I am not going to lie, it took some time shampooing it out of my long thick hair and you will know if you didn't get it all out as it will show blue on your hairline! The blue color was hard to remove from my hands and nails as I had to lather them up a few times. I presume the combination of water pressure, my thick long hair and the consistency of the shampoo is what made it more work for me to rinse away. The outcome is what did it for me! I learned to work with the product better after each use and found it enhanced my color quite a bit and gave it that "just walked out of the salon" shine. I love Kerastase and I love the Elixir Ultime Oil itself, but I had to return both the shampoo and the masque from this line. I have no idea why, but my skin had a terrible reaction to them on my face, chest and back. Clogged pores, small bumps and terribly itchy skin. I am always careful to rinse out my shampoo and conditioner thoroughly and even wash my face, neck, chest, and back with antibacterial cleanser after conditioning to remove any residue, but it didn’t help. The scent of this shampoo and corresponding products in the Elixir Ultime line is also very very strong – like a heavy floral perfume. Probably not ideal for men. And it lingers. As far as does the product work, I have no doubt that it is one of the most moisturizing shampoos out there even with its lather. I wouldn’t recommend if you have sensitive or problematic skin or issues with fragrances. Try a sample first and perhaps consider washing and conditioning in a sink instead of a bath or shower. I've been using the hair oil serum for years, love it. I was excited to receive a sample of the shampoo and conditioner. WOW, way too fragrant was my first impression. A bit overwhelming, I do not like strong fragrance and this was beyond strong in the shower. I definitely had to rinse extremely well after using this product. This product is wonderful! I have thick, dry hair that I color every 4-6 weeks. I haven't been able to find a line of products to help my hair. With other products my color faded but not with this! My brunette color is shiny, soft, manageable, and this really brings out the highlights! One thing that I absolute love is I don't need to use as much conditioner as other products! A little goes a long way! And this smells wonderful! I use the shampoo, conditioner, and hair oil. Definitely recommend this!Jennifer Rae 1973
(I should preface this by saying I'm a longtime WEN user.) I bought this because I just had my hair colored and wanted it to help with color retention. Well, when I opened the shampoo and put it on my hair and it smelled delightful and then instantly, I could feel that my hair felt like straw! I couldn't get out of my hair fast enough… I immediately used the Bamboo conditioner and my hair felt a little better but I knew it wasn't right. I rinsed and got out of the shower. My hair was so dry and felt horrible, I used a ton of It's a 10 leave in conditioner, which helped. The next day in the shower, I used my regular cleaning conditioner from Wen and my hair felt it's normal soft self. I will never use this again. 2 stars for the great smellbobbi.s

Another hydrating product for the win. The smell is pleasant but not my favorite, I do think it’s a product for those who are dry and could make your hair look oily if your hair tends to run that way. Only this I would improve on is giving it a better scent. But I am just being picky since I love my tropical scented hair products.amanda.b
My hair felt okay after washing with this shampoo conditioner, though on the dryer side. However, I couldn’t get over the smell. I can’t believe how many people are saying it smells great in the reviews. It me, it’s an overwhelming smell of old man aftershave, but like, the kind you find shoved all the way at the back of your grandfathers medicine cabinet because even he didn’t like it. The scent maybe isn’t bad on a mature gent, but it’s not what I want my hair to smell like. Every time I’d turn my head, a cloud of aftershave odor wafted around me. I just bought a tube of your Brilliant Brunette shampoo at Walmart. Although I love the bigger size, the packaging in particular the cap is poor. Got home aha found the cap had broken off and made a big mess of shampoo that leaked out in the bag. John Frieda needs to put plastic seals on the caps off their shampoo and conditioner products to prevent this from happening! Since I couldn't find the cap piece that broke off, I now have to make a trip back to the store to exchange it! Big pain!hairdoogirl1128

I received this product as a sample, liked it and ordered the product. After 2 months now of having used this shampoo I find my hair feeling weighed down and no longer has the shine it once did despite good rinsing technique. I was expecting shine, manageability, and fewer shampoo days. Quite the opposite now. I cannot recommend this product.Leisa
I have used this a few times when my split ends are cracking and I find myself picking them. After I use this my split ends are 90% gone and it feels so soft and nice! I can't stop running my hands through my hair. Best stuff I've used. I live in a dry climate with hard water and this is great for that because I use a lot of hydrating hair products and nothing has worked quite like this for the harsh weather and my dry hair!Megan
I love this hair mask! I tried going to a new hairstylist who destroyed my hair. She burned 6 inches off and my ends continued to break and fall off with the slightest touch. So I went back to my old stylist who recommended I use this. She told me to use it for 8 hours since my hair was so damaged. I used it twice in one week and my hair finally stopped breaking. This stuff saved my hair and it finally grew back thanks to this mask. It says to use 5 mins or 30 for extremely damaged hair twice a week or as needed but I still use it for hours. I either sleep with it on or just hang around the house with it wrapped in a towel. (Once a week because I only wash once or twice a week), My hair is naturally dark brown but I regularly bleach it platinum blonde and use heat often. This is what manages to keep my hair healthy through all of that. If you just need a little moisture you can do the shorter time but if you abuse your hair like me the extra hours are worth it! It washes right out and doesn’t leave my hair greasy. Smells great and it’s affordable. Not sure where everyone else that says it’s expensive is buying it but I’ve always paid about $15. I pick it up from Jcp salons or order it online from Jcp. Now I actually pay around $6 from a beauty store for cosmetologists. So that’s around what your salon is paying for it. Any salon should carry this in store and online and it shouldn’t be over $20. I love trying new masks but this one will always be a go to staple for me! Been using it for 8 years now.cassidy.h
