I purchased this because of great reviews online. I was so skeptical and scared trying any products on my scalp due to psoriasis. I have been using this shampoo for the last few months. Not only does it give exceptional deep multi tone coverage , it seems to bring out the highlights in my hair. I also have grey hair only around my face and was tired of permanently dying my hair. You cannot tell that I have any grey! It seems to both cover them and the few which are resistant actually look a bit dirty blonde. I do keep the shampoo on my head the entire time I bathe and lather it in first at the facial hairline where the grey is located and work back the lather. I use a natural home made conditioner 30 minutes before washing my hair so I have no need to use any conditioner after rinsing my hair (which I begin wetting my hair in hot water before shampooing and then rinse the shampoo in warm water briefly, ending with cold water). Like the product. Went to buy it based on a 30% off on one item coupon. The item was $33, so with the discount, slightly under $25. Can purchase 2 of them for $25 on Amazon. CVS would be easy to recommend if they stopped playing these stupid games with prices. But even without that, the service is just not good. It's not like it use to be. Having coloured my hair for many years I am very conscious of the need to try and keep it in good condition and avoid colour fading so was very eager to try Nexxus Color Assure Shampoo. Nexxus is not a brand I am familiar with so was keen to see the results. As soon as I poured the shampoo into my hand I could feel the quality of this beautifully rich shampoo and the smell was absolutely divine. The shampoo lathered up easily into my hair with just a small amount of the product. It was easy to rinse out and my hair felt thick and full once it had been washed. Once my hair had been dried I could instantly see how shiny and well nourished my hair looked and felt and the colour of my hair has stayed more vibrant without any fading over the past couple of weeks. I wash my hair every day and this shampoo has kept it in perfect condition. I regularly smelt the shampoo during the day which was lovely and I have had several people complimenting me on how shiny and healthy my hair looks. I've used this product for years, but they seem to have changed the formulation. I purchased two 1L bottles sometime ago. I just ran out of the old formula and opened the new bottle, and (as many have said) it does not clean. I originally got this from a Today Show steals & deals segment (they sucker me in all the time) and received full size shampoo, conditioner, and 3 other styling and heat protectant products. I always try things for several weeks, go back to my usual stuff for several weeks and see if I can tell a difference. I absolutely positively can with this shampoo/conditioner! My hair is silky, light, bouncy, shiny and not greasy at all. My notice my ends don’t get as dry between washes (I was my hair once/week) and I can go much longer before I need dry shampoo. I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. The smell is mild, nice. It lathers up well. It doesn’t tangle my hair like some other sulfate free shampoos do. It creates beautiful shine. I don’t notice any color fallout at all. Overall I really enjoy this shampoo and have repurchased it a few times. My issue is that I feel like I have to use a lot of it each time and if I wash my hair more than twice a week, the ends can feel a little dry. I have natural blond hair that has a lot of natural dimension and highlights in it. However, like many women, my hair color has changed a bit after two kids, and doesn't pop the way it used to. The product works great! I have natural black hair and bleached it once to make it vibrant red. I wash my hair daily, so the color faded pretty quick. I don’t want to go to hair salon again, so I randomly searched it on amazon to find this. I decided to give a try, and after several weeks, I found it very convenient to remain my hair color in a fairly bright red hue evenly. The color remains for 2~3 wash.However, I’m not giving it five stars because:Instead of using it like my normal shampoo, I need to squeeze 3 palms of the product to apply on my hair to reach the color change shown in my photos. I tried using a small amount and imagined the product staying on my hair longer would let the color soak in, but it didn’t work much. If you have long hair, you probably will run out of this very fast. It also dries my hair after rinsing it off, but could be solved with conditioner once.Anyway if you plan to use this, I recommend to apply a generous amount of it on your hair, and massage it through hair to have the even color, but not making a lot of foams. I decided to try out this combo shampoo and conditioner and upon first and second use I was pretty impressed. I used them both the day after a partial highlight and found that it kept my hair light and soft which can be hard to accomplish the day after a highlight. Sometimes my hair would come out of the first at home wash fluffy and a little dry. With the product itself I'm happy with, however here are some issues: 1. If you keep the bottle standing upright the product can be hard to get to the top. Even shaking it multiple times only a portion of it gets comes to the cap. I found that I had to keep it sitting upside down in order not to sit in the shower shaking it for a minute or two. 2. If you keep the bottle upside down the product comes out of the cap from the back and the sides. Also, when you use it normally, a lot of the product gets caught in the cap when you open and close it. Outside of the issue with the packaging and the product being a little hard to get to the top, it's one that I would buy again and keep in the rotation.Ashley
With this oil you're basically just paying for expensive smelling silicone. No joke, in my hands it basically just feels like lubricant. Takes forever to wipe off my hands, can't imagine how much it's gunking up my hair. It does smell really nice, and it does smooth the hair down, but I don't believe it's helping make the hair healthier at all in the long run and might even be detrimental for dry curls like mine. 1 star for smell, 1 for absorption. This product definitely helped brighten but I found it a little drying the first couple tries. I paired it with a heavier hair mask in other washes and that helped a little. My hair felt okay after washing with this shampoo conditioner, though on the dryer side. However, I couldn’t get over the smell. I can’t believe how many people are saying it smells great in the reviews. It me, it’s an overwhelming smell of old man aftershave, but like, the kind you find shoved all the way at the back of your grandfathers medicine cabinet because even he didn’t like it. I just bought a tube of your Brilliant Brunette shampoo at Walmart. Although I love the bigger size, the packaging in particular the cap is poor. Got home aha found the cap had broken off and made a big mess of shampoo that leaked out in the bag. John Frieda needs to put plastic seals on the caps off their shampoo and conditioner products to prevent this from happening! I have used this a few times when my split ends are cracking and I find myself picking them. After I use this my split ends are 90% gone and it feels so soft and nice! I love this hair mask! I tried going to a new hairstylist who destroyed my hair. She burned 6 inches off and my ends continued to break and fall off with the slightest touch. So I went back to my old stylist who recommended I use this. She told me to use it for 8 hours since my hair was so damaged. I used it twice in one week and my hair finally stopped breaking. This stuff saved my hair and it finally grew back thanks to this mask. It says to use 5 mins or 30 for extremely damaged hair twice a week or as needed but I still use it for hours. I either sleep with it on or just hang around the house with it wrapped in a towel. (Once a week because I only wash once or twice a week), My hair is naturally dark brown but I regularly bleach it platinum blonde and use heat often. This is what manages to keep my hair healthy through all of that. If you just need a little moisture you can do the shorter time but if you abuse your hair like me the extra hours are worth it! It washes right out and doesn’t leave my hair greasy. Smells great and it’s affordable. Not sure where everyone else that says it’s expensive is buying it but I’ve always paid about $15. I pick it up from Jcp salons or order it online from Jcp. Now I actually pay around $6 from a beauty store for cosmetologists. So that’s around what your salon is paying for it. I have extremely thick hair, plus my hair is also dyed dark. I have a trouble finding a good conditioner that doesn't weight my hair down or fades my color. I decided to try this after I have heard many good things about it, I am so happy that I did. The conditioner is one of them ones that the minute you let it sit on your hair and rinse you can immediately tell the difference it made on your hair. Rinsing my hair isn't tangled, it is smooth, and it's even better when it dries. I like to let my hair air dry but usually it frizzes out, since using this conditioner I don't have to worry about my hair being all frizzy. My hair is so much more softer and silkier. It smooths my hair out very nicely, so I don't have to spend a bunch of time straightening it to get rid of the frizz. It's soft on my colored hair and doesn't strip my hair of my color, which is a huge plus. Highly recommend this conditioner if you have color treated thick hair like mine. The Colour Wow Colour Security Conditioner is a lightweight conditioner that really helps prevent colour from fading. This is a lot more hydrating than the matching shampoo in the range and should be ok for all hair types except very dry or damaged. It does not weigh hair down, leaves it feeling soft and with a little volume. I have very dry hair so overall I need a more hydrating conditioner I have to use a leave in conditioner after using this. If you are looking for a range for coloured hair and your hair is not very dry I would recommend this range as they stopped my colour looking dull and prevented my highlights from fading.emk

Hopefully this is a helpful review because I address some of the complaints I saw before writing this. My hair stylist suggested I use this shampoo, however because I have an extremely sensitive scalp( I even have to use steroids on my scalp a couple times a week) so I still only use Free&Clean shampoo & conditioner directly on my scalp which I wash twice because of oil build up. But then I use the Redken Blue Toning shampoo on the rest of my hair just not the scalp.. my hair is down to my butt and very thick and wavy so I use a lot of product. I've read reviews saying it doesn't lather, but honestly it lathers really well and I'm guessing they must have so much oil in their hair they haven't done a quick wash and rinse first or use too much daily product so they probably need to wash twice anyways. I have the shampoo sit on my hair for 5 minutes. During that time I rinse off the shower curtain and walls to wash away the blue (c'mon people… it will only stain if you let it sit) then I rinse out and have the conditioner sit for 5 minutes and it is NIGHT & DAY from when I used to get highlights. I started using this right after highlights and after almost 2 months my color still looks perfect without the brassy or red. I wished I had this the past 10 years because my hair has faded copper/brassy my whole life. I'm obsessed and will continue using on all my hair and just avoiding the scalp! I bought previous version of this shampoo and I loved it very much. It was perfect for me. New formula is not the same, unfortunately. I have thin natural hair which gets dirty every day, so I wash it every morning. With previous formula of this shampoo I could wash my hair once per two days and it really gave me a little volume. But now I don't get any kind of volume, my hair is flat. I use this shampoo with Redken Volume conditioner and my hair don't feel any volume at all. Also my hair gets greasy by the end of a day. This product is very concentrated, lathers great, smells amazing. But doesn't work for my hair type. If you have normal or dry hair, probably, you will like the results.Helga

I purchased this color safe shampoo based on the recommendations on beauty professionals in my area, and also because I am a big fan of Oribe products. I started using Oribe products when I went to a salon that used Oribe and pretty much all the products that I’ve used I have liked. I purchased this particular shampoo because I get highlights, and I wanted to prolong the life of my color gloss. I am a fan of Oribe and have other Oribe shampoos to compare it with, and I sometimes mix it with the Oribe Moisture and Control Shampoo in the green bottle and the Oribe Gold Lust Shampoo in the black and white bottle. I think that this shampoo for color treated hair is best for prolonging color, and I have noticed that my glaze has lasted a bit longer than when using other shampoos. I personally prefer the moisture and hydration from the other two shampoos that I mentioned compared to this shampoo, but I do like the shampoo a lot. I do feel that the Moisture and Control Shampoo does provide a lot of moisture and hydration, I have that masque too and love it. The Oribe Gold Lust is good for damaged hair or when trying to prevent split ends. The shampoo for the blonde hair is also a great shampoo, which a hairstylist used on me for years and I recommended to a family member. I think Oribe products are excellent and I have been pleased with most Oribe products that I purchased. I recently switched to using this shampoo and other Oribe shampoos from the Olaplex shampoo and it is definitely worth the extra money! The products are a little expensive, although they are the best quality of any other beauty products which I have purchased. The products are vegan and cruelty free. Purchased this product expecting to see results. This an 8.5oz product for $50.00. So my expectations are high as price tag. This product did not work for me. I recently got my hair colored I waited 5 days to have my first shampoo and as I was washing my hair it felt extremely dry. As I was massaging my scalp my hair started tangle terribly- this has never happened to me before. So I proceeded to condition with olaplex. Once out of the shower my hair felt super dry which it was very concerning. After I used a mixed of olaplex #6 and #7 to blow-dry and style, my hair looked fine but NOT BETTER from using Olaplex shampoo, Truss professional or Crew. I wanted to give it a second try so 3 days after I washed my hair again. I have natural voluminous curls, same experience at washing and after, my curls looked terrible. The hair still dry as straw. I dyed my hair green and right after I started using this product. The color was bright after the first wash, and with the second time a little faded away, but that was expected, since it was newly dyed. The color is still great, so it exceeded my expectations, considering my experience with a lot of products for colored hair. I am curious to see how long the color lasts, but I have high hopes due to the antioxidants. You don't need to use a lot of shampoo when showering, it bubbles nicely and the scent is very pleasant. I use this product along with the shampoo of the same brand. I dyed my hair prior to testing these products and so far they work well together! For the conditioner, you need to use a larger amount on product per wash than the shampoo, so you will have to buy each when they finish. The shampoo is more fragnant, however after the shower, the smell does not last. The conditioner is what makes the hair silky, I wouldn't recommend the shampoo separately unless if being used with another conditioner for colored hair. This is a bit drying on the hair, leaves my hair a bit squeaky for my liking. As a purple shampoo I think it works okay. I’m nervous to leave it in for long because of how drying it feels even when I just lather and quickly rinse (5 min in my hair). For reference I leave the Fanola one in my hair for 5-10min, depending on how bleached or dark my hair is at the time. This one is less “purple” than the Fanola one. The Fanola one leaves my hair with a lavender tint. This one is more “blue” I think and leaves my hair more of a gray! Which is an upside for me because sometimes I want the silver/gray without the lavender.
This was an okay product for me. It smelled nice and did what it was supposed to but I would not recommend if you have a dry scalp. It made my head itch after one or two uses so I had to stop using it. I switched to another brand of color treatment shampoo to see if it had been that particular brand, which I figured out that it was, unfortunately. I know this review is lengthy but only because I LOVE this shampoo. Let me tell you, when I received this product, I was nervous. Seeing as it was a color depositing shampoo, and the instructions say to avoid your scalp (because of staining), I was upset. I dance for 2 hours every day and by the end I am a greasy/sweaty MESS. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get my same "clean" feeling as I do with my old shampoo. But I have been using this daily and I can honestly say my hair is so clean after using it but not that dry overly "squeaky" clean like some shampoos. This is a genuine CLEAN that didn't strip my hair of any moisture. The scent is great, very fresh and not overly fragrant or unnatural smelling. On top of that, it WORKS. I am a natural medium-deep brunette and I've got red/copper undertones that are clearly visible in natural lighting, mainly towards to ends of my hair. Not anymore though! I've got beautiful, soft, and shiny deep chocolate hair now and I've been using it for a week now! My only real complaint is that it can be a little tedious to use. Since it can stain, they recommend wearing gloves and keeping it off the scalp as stated previously. I didn't think it would stain that bad, so I put it in my hair one day without gloves and the dye had gotten under my fingernails and it looked like I had dirt under them, as well as product having dripped down the back of my neck and leaving a bit of darkness there. I recently got this shampoo to use once a week after I had my hair colored. I couldn't stop using it because it makes my hair feel so amazing. You know that clean feeling that some shampoos and conditioners leave you with? That kind of clean! I know every product is different for every type of hair but I will be using this until it no longer works for my hair. I can't stop touching it and running my fingers through it. **It does stain around my nails but I have a nail brush in my shower and I just scrub my nails after and it helps or most of the time, completely gets rid of the dark stains! Using the entire Matrix Dark Envy line, this is definitely the icing on the cake. It's creamy and thick and you definitely don't need as much as I used the first time. Lol. A small quarter sized amount or a touch more for long hair, like mine. I would not recommend using this without at least using the shampoo. I prefer the mask as well. I am told by my stylist that I have fine hair but a lot of it. I was noticing that I was losing what looked like a lot of hair to me in the shower and in my brushes. I tried some different shampoos and conditioners and none seemed better than the others. I was having a particular problem with tangles when my hair was wet. I have very hard water so that is probably part of the issue. My sister has amazing hair, she grows it down to her waist and donates it to a wigs for kids program. She uses this shampoo and conditioner even though she doesn't color her hair so I tried it and it is working great for me. Detangles, my hair looks healthy, and I see less coming out in the shower and brushes. I use the shampoo and conditioner together every other day. On the in-between day I get it wet and just use a little conditioner from around where a low ponytail would be to the ends for detangling. I thought the fragrance was too strong at first but have gotten used to it now. I would still love a fragrance free or more subtle natural fragrance option but it is getting the results I wanted so I plan to keep using it.Lucy
I have tried many shampoos for my bleached blonde hair. This shampoo works amazing on my dry brittle hair. I personally think it works way better than Opalex. This shampoo leaves my hair silky, smooth and doesn't fade my colored hair either. While Opalex made my hair feel like straw hair. I highly recommend this shampoo if you want silky smooth hair. If your a blonde and need a good purple shampoo. I highly recommend Biolage Purple shampoos. It's the best purple shampoo I've ever used and I've used many. My hair has gotten extremely damaged from using OGX products that currently have a class action lawsuit against them for formaldehyde, cancer causing ingredients & instead of moisturizing & repairing it's drying it from the inside out, causing horrible damage you didn't see starting, until you have a ton of broken hair & even HAIR LOSS!! My hair last year was long to my belt loops. We thought was this because of coloring? Stopped coloring it last year, it's been growing out for awhile. Then for my last "trim" it turned into a chop because I've had really long hair over a decade & never has my hair looked or felt like this. Now my hair is right above my shoulders. I was doing my research on products before my haircut knowing after I cut it, I'm never using OGX products again even though I had 2 brand new large bottles. I have brown hair with blonde on the middle/ends. I already have two different blonde shampoos (nexxus and John Frieda) both of which are a purple shampoo. They didn't seem to do much to my hair since my blonde was more of a honey(Ish) blonde (Slightly orange tones) Vs a bright blonde.. that's why I decided to give this a try! I decided to put the shampoo on my hair while it was dry and left it on for About 5 minutes (I have fine semi damaged hair that takes to color super quick and didn't want to end up with teal hair) so if your hair is the same I wouldn't leave it in any longer than that… anyways, WOW! This product definitely lightened you my blonde considerably and left the brown in my hair looking super shiny. There's no sun out today as it's raining so I can't say much about if it took red/orange tones out of my hair but it is soft, shiny and my blonde has lightened up! I personally think it's worth a try and will be reusing this probably about once a week for a refresh! 🙂Michelle
I'm shocked at how amazing this shampoo and conditioner is!!! I'm not joking I'm someone who uses salon shampoo not always but mostly I do. I've use probably 4 products from NYM. That being the pink bottle shampoo and conditioner the black shampoo bottle it has moon something in it…? lol And I think I've used the leave in conditioner. Anyways this shampoo is amazing!!! I have oily roots this had my hair so soft so shiny for 5 days my hair usually gets oily in 2 or 3 day's. I honestly didn't notice this toning my hair. But what I did notice is it made my hair look freshly colored if that makes sense. Maybe I have to use this more to see the effect. I bought this thinking I'd try this before I buy the redken blue shampoo to see if I like it. I've use this 3 times now along with the conditioner it didn't strip my color. It had a medium sud I didn't see any hair color come out washing my hair. Barely any shedding which is amazing! Even if u don't color your hair try this shampoo and conditioner. It's a great shampoo regardless you won't regret it. Oh the smell is amazing as well has a light vanilla sorta salon scent to it. I don't notice a scent in my hair after it drys. after my first shipment got lost, I was excited because my hair is still strawberry orange on top and i was going light blonde. my hair is thick, med. length. and i may have noticed a small change in color, though it's not enough to be worth the cost. i might get a total of 5 washes and will still need more washes to get it to go lighter. im going to re dye and cross my fingers. the purple didn't help either.Pamela

I am nearly at the bottom of the bottle, so I am ready to comment. This one is not working for me. It is probably due to the texture of my hair – it is a bit past shoulder length, fine/medium hair. Not super fine, but I think you might get the idea. After I apply soap, and gently wash hair, and rinse out – my hair is a matted mess while in the shower. I have to add conditioner, just to be able to rinse the soap out of my hair properly. The two conditioners that I used, that saved me – are both offered by Vitacost: Andalou Naturals Detangling spray and 2Chic Ultra Sleek Conditioner by Giovanni. I love the Andalou spray, so I will try their shampoo. Giving this 2 stars, as this Shikai shampoo, may be ok for super short hair, or hair needing a 'clarifying' shampoo, to remove heavy sports sweat/dirt, gels & other hair products. When I purchased Shikai Shampoo I had hair that was colored. That was about a year and a half ago. Now it's my natural color but this shampoo is still doing a good cleansing job and leaves my hair manageable. This used to be my favorite conditioner WHEN IT HAD AMLA, for fine wavy hair and a difficult scalp and as a reward for my loyalty and others' they changed the AMLA to borage without announcement. Two years ago I searched on Amazon for a color depositing shampoo that was 1) Mid price range AND 2) Was a Superior product on the Market. I chose the Hazelnutshade to counteract red tones in my hair after a bad at home hair colorjob. I tried to go from blonde to brown and my hair turned Auburn! This Shampoo turned my hair a rich brown and infused it with shine! I change my hair color completely at least once per year. I have also tried Liquid Fire and Molten Bronze to maintain hard to keep Red! This shampoo is like a demi-permanent hair color! I have used it as a toner and also to maintain color freshness between colorings. This is a great value and also a superior product! Only downside is it can be drying . No worries. There is a color enhancer shampoo for every color, so you can’t go wrong with this brand. The colors are rich and keep your hair drenched in color prolonging your next visit to the salon. I used to use DevaCurl no-poo for my fine/thin wavy hair. I got a trial size of this and liked it well enough. I decided to give the full size of this a chance when it was on sale during one of Ulta's hair events as the DevaCurl was just too expensive on a grad student budget. I've been using it for over a year now and I SWEAR my hair is fuller and my curls behave better than they did with the DevaCurl. I wash my hair 1-2x/week and I do a sort of double cleanse. I put one pump in, lather at the scalp, quick rinse, then another pump, lather at the scalp, and let it run down the rest of my hair when I rinse. Leaves my scalp feeling clean and not dry.B
