So far the best Purple Shampoo I've found. I have not used it long but My hair shines and actually feels thicker and softer. It hasn't really taken out all my brassiness yet but maybe after a few more uses it will. I am transitioning from medium brown colored treated hair to my natural white/grey hair that I'm letting grow out. It is very fine so my hairdresser didn't want to bleach it anymore for fear of damaging it more to get the orange and yellow tone out of it. I honestly don't know if the product works because I had to re-condition my hair with another product to try to get the awful smell out of my hair. The fragrance smells like old man/ dead animal. I've been bleaching my hairs for years and have tried countless brands of purple shampoo. I've been told by my hairdresser that sulfates strip toner and to avoid shampoos with that ingredient. I noticed this shampoo had sulfates but I went ahead and tried it anyway because of all the good reviews. I've used it 3 times since my last bleach and tone, and my hair is A LOT more yellow than my appointment. I noticed after the first wash that my hair looked a little worse but I decided to try to keep using it and my toner literally vanished before my eyes. I definitely recommend a shampoo without sulfates (Joico is one example). This shampoo also dries out your hair causing it to build up grease not even 24 hours after showering. Made my hair nice when applied, thought everything was great. Beautiful lather….. then I wash it out. My hair felt so gummy it literally scared me. The product didn't really do anything for my hair. Cannot understand these great reviews! This Blue Malva shampoo and conditioner is simply awful. By far the worst I’ve used. The price point is ridiculous for the lack of result. Not only does it do NOTHING for my highlighted natural blonde hair, it actually actively makes the colour worse! After first use my highlights were dull and hair was really dry. Even when I piled the conditioner on I couldn’t get my brush though it. I should clarify that my hair has always been manageable and neither dry nor greasy, just luckily have shiny and soft hair so I was really shocked that a product had actually given me problems! I tried to keep using it because you can (ridiculously enough) only buy the huge bottles (what a scam), but I had to give it away to a friend because it was making my hair so lustreless. I have very sensitive skin and after not wanting to pay $50 plus for a giant jug of color depositing shampoo, I looked everywhere where for something similar. In the end, I decided not having my hair fall out using something harsher was not ideal and I bought this. My hair changed drastically in a week. It's healthier than it's ever been. I have coloured Blond hair and i have been struggling with the brassy tones mostly towards the end. So, this is amazing shampoo for improving my brassy tones and also brightening my hair tone. I usually use L’Oréal’s Elvive purple shampoo so it was interesting to try the brands more expensive line. . . Unlike other purple shampoos this one had a more chemically smell. I also found my hair felt quite dry after using it and it was quite difficult to brush. I do love the tone it’s given my blonde hair, a nice silvery tone. I would have liked to try it with the conditioner to see if that improved the dryness of the shampoo but I can’t complain. Overall I’m happy with the outcome from using this shampoo, just a shame it’s so drying.

Hopefully this is a helpful review because I address some of the complaints I saw before writing this. My hair stylist suggested I use this shampoo, however because I have an extremely sensitive scalp( I even have to use steroids on my scalp a couple times a week) so I still only use Free&Clean shampoo & conditioner directly on my scalp which I wash twice because of oil build up. But then I use the Redken Blue Toning shampoo on the rest of my hair just not the scalp.. my hair is down to my butt and very thick and wavy so I use a lot of product. I've read reviews saying it doesn't lather, but honestly it lathers really well and I'm guessing they must have so much oil in their hair they haven't done a quick wash and rinse first or use too much daily product so they probably need to wash twice anyways. I have the shampoo sit on my hair for 5 minutes. During that time I rinse off the shower curtain and walls to wash away the blue (c'mon people… it will only stain if you let it sit) then I rinse out and have the conditioner sit for 5 minutes and it is NIGHT & DAY from when I used to get highlights. I started using this right after highlights and after almost 2 months my color still looks perfect without the brassy or red. I wished I had this the past 10 years because my hair has faded copper/brassy my whole life. I'm obsessed and will continue using on all my hair and just avoiding the scalp! I have thin natural hair which gets dirty every day, so I wash it every morning. With previous formula of this shampoo I could wash my hair once per two days and it really gave me a little volume. But now I don't get any kind of volume, my hair is flat. I use this shampoo with Redken Volume conditioner and my hair don't feel any volume at all. Also my hair gets greasy by the end of a day. This product is very concentrated, lathers great, smells amazing. But doesn't work for my hair type. If you have normal or dry hair, probably, you will like the results.Helga

Wow. This stuff was impressive. From the lovely fresh smell almost like coconuts to the color of the product! Love. Felt good lathering, I didn’t need a ton. Didn’t leave my hair dry. LOVE this Rene Furterer OKARA Blond Brightening Conditioner to go along with the shampoo in the same line. I decided to take advantage of Coronavirus quarantine to "go natural". My hair is a dark brunette, so growing out the silver is a challenge. Taking the situation seriously, I read all the best practices to make the transition easier. The best recommendation was to use a purple toned shampoo and conditioner. I got my Okara products last week and tried them immediately. The silver taking over the top of my head is definitely brighter and shinier. The dull, faded color also looks more vibrant. Before I started using this shampoo, my hair was grey. This shampoo makes it straight-up silver. Not exaggerating. I have tried every purple shampoo on the market (high-end & drug store), & they all have one thing in common: they dry out your hair each time you use them. So you have to follow each wash with a heavy-duty conditioner. Not the case with this gem from Rene Furterer! I've used this as my only shampoo, for months at a time, and it never dries out my hair. In addition, for me it deposits just the right amount of color to make my hair look like glistening sterling silver. I know this review is lengthy but only because I LOVE this shampoo. Let me tell you, when I received this product, I was nervous. Seeing as it was a color depositing shampoo, and the instructions say to avoid your scalp (because of staining), I was upset. I dance for 2 hours every day and by the end I am a greasy/sweaty MESS. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get my same "clean" feeling as I do with my old shampoo. But I have been using this daily and I can honestly say my hair is so clean after using it but not that dry overly "squeaky" clean like some shampoos. This is a genuine CLEAN that didn't strip my hair of any moisture. The scent is great, very fresh and not overly fragrant or unnatural smelling. On top of that, it WORKS. I am a natural medium-deep brunette and I've got red/copper undertones that are clearly visible in natural lighting, mainly towards to ends of my hair. Not anymore though! I've got beautiful, soft, and shiny deep chocolate hair now and I've been using it for a week now! My only real complaint is that it can be a little tedious to use. Since it can stain, they recommend wearing gloves and keeping it off the scalp as stated previously. I didn't think it would stain that bad, so I put it in my hair one day without gloves and the dye had gotten under my fingernails and it looked like I had dirt under them, as well as product having dripped down the back of my neck and leaving a bit of darkness there. I recently got this shampoo to use once a week after I had my hair colored. I couldn't stop using it because it makes my hair feel so amazing. You know that clean feeling that some shampoos and conditioners leave you with? That kind of clean! I know every product is different for every type of hair but I will be using this until it no longer works for my hair. I can't stop touching it and running my fingers through it. **It does stain around my nails but I have a nail brush in my shower and I just scrub my nails after and it helps or most of the time, completely gets rid of the dark stains! Using the entire Matrix Dark Envy line, this is definitely the icing on the cake. It's creamy and thick and you definitely don't need as much as I used the first time. Lol. A small quarter sized amount or a touch more for long hair, like mine. I would not recommend using this without at least using the shampoo. I prefer the mask as well. But this is more like a toner or final coat to the color renewal system. It won't add color alone.eskmom

I've been using the Pantene Pro V Brilliant Blondie Illuminating Sulfate Free Shampoo for 2 weeks and I'm impressed! First things first, this formula is FREE OF sulphates, parabens, dyes, silicones, and mineral oils which is a winner in my book. Pantene's Pro-V Color Adapt technology senses the unique needs of multi tonal hair, like every strand stands out lighter! Get lasting vibrant color is a plus! Another winner in my book!! I liked the scent of this shampoo, it was heavy enough so that after your hair was dry, it lingered for a day or two. If I braided it or had it up in a bun, the scent scent stayed for 3 days! A very CLEAN scent like linen on a breeze. I loved the feeling of my scalp afterwards as it felt very cleansed and clarified. Like it had been rehabbed! LOL Honestly, it felt as though a vacuum had sucked away all the old buildup from past washings. I noticed that my natural highlights were also lightened a lot. Like I had sat in the sun for 1 week straight or I went to the salon and had my highlights done! The one thing I didn't like was it was very hard to get a foamy lather going and I suppose that's because it's a very clean and green shampoo without all the chemicals added to it. I used the Brilliant Blondie Daily Rescue Conditioner in Combination with the Matching shampoo for about 3 weeks. This product claim is that it is free of Paraben, Mineral Oil and Dyes. I like that. It also has Silk Extract and Biotin which should should provide you with silky plump locks. Personally I don't think there is enough of either of these ingredients in the conditioner to notice. They are also the last few ingredients listed on the label. There is however a lot of forms of alcohol in the ingredient list! I have very long hair so when showering I wash my hair immediately, rinse and condition. This gives my conditioner 5 plus minutes to do it's job. It goes on nice and soft and has a very pleasant subtle scent. Once I rinsed it out my hair felt heavier than when using other conditioner. I also had a very hard time each and every time detangling my hair. Overall my hair did not feel good after using. For the entire three weeks of using these products I did not add any other product to my hair and did not style so I would get the full effect of the products used. (Covid allowed this as I am at home). I also air dried my hair everytime. Where the colour was concerned there was absolutely no difference in using the Daily Rescue Conditioner.Teejaie1960
I've been a past purchaser of Pantene, so I was excited to see this new line come out. I'm a natural blonde, who recently lifted my hair with bleach. This product specifically features 0% sulfates, parabens, silicones, dyes and mineral oils which is part of the reason why I was drawn to it. It also features added biotin & silk extract which I've been intrigued by lately in hair care products. The scent of this shampoo was really wonderful, and I really enjoyed it. Sulfate free shampoos tend to lather less, but I found this one still lathered quite well. I can't say that I think the biotin in it helped my hair in any way. On top of that, both the biotin and silk extract are both listed as the last two ingredients which I would presume means they're included in very small quantities. That being said, I did like the overall look of my hair after using this. I also really like the look and shape of the bottle/packaging of this. It fits really well in my shower and makes the usability of the product really great. Overall, I think I would buy this product again – and would likely recommend it to others. If I were to change anything, I would remove the biotin, add more silk extract and make it more hydrating.Natalie1962

I have long, thick, balayaged hair that lives way more of a fabulous life than I do. I don’t skimp on shampoo and for that reason I have always liked all the Biolage shampoos I’ve tried. They are high quality and come in very nice sized bottles for the price. That is why I was so very eager to try smooth proof because my hair is also wavy and without some taming, it can get pretty wild. I first tried this shampoo a few times without the conditioner (This is me most days for sake of time and also to avoid build up) and I was so happy with the results. It did not weight my hair down at all. The wave was more cohesiveness and it was soft and so shiny! I do use with the conditioner at least once a week and that is where you really see the smooth get to another level. However, it didn’t weight it all completely down, I still had plenty of lift at my crown without any real styling (Which I generally avoid) Like all the other Biolage shampoos I’ve tried, it lathers well. You don’t need much. I also really love the floral scent, reminds me of orange mlossom. I’ve been using it for more than a month now and my hair still feels great. I received this shampoo free for testing purposes by #influester. The shampoo is absolutely amazing it is thin and light but hydrating enough for my course, thick, 3C hair. My daughters and I have been thoroughly enjoying this shampoo and it’s something we can all use. My older has thick wavy hair and works wonderfully for her. The shampoo and conditioner is perfect and enough for her hair. My youngest daughter has curly 3B hair but it’s very fine and thin and the shampoo does work wonderfully for her hair too. I notice a big difference especially when she comes home from school the shampoo decreases her curly frizzy crown. The scent is beautiful and not strong. Amazing formula. I couldn’t figure out why my hair was falling out. I stopped using this shampoo out of pure laziness for 2 weeks, when I started using it again I then noticed it’s this shampoo causing my hair loss. It literally comes out in chunks immediately after and keeps coming out in chunks for days. I have super dark brunette hair it's almost black! So I get an ashy blonde balayage to compliment my hair. Of course after 6 weeks out of the salon is turns brassy, I bought this hoping it would make my hair look balanced again since it says it can also be used on brunette hair to combat brassy unbalanced hair. OMG did it do the trick. I followed the directions and lathered twice, I didn't use conditioner afterwards but after towel drying my hair used my leave-in conditioner and then blow dried it. It looks brand new, like I just left the salon and my hair no longer looks choppy and orange! Such a great buy it's so cheap and perfect to prolong those costly salon visits! It may take a few Washes to get use to applying a very purple shampoo to your hair, but there's nothing more effective for removing orange or brassiness from blonde hair. It's so effective in fact, it can be used as a toner after you've bleached your hair to neutralize that ugly orangey color that's inevitable regardless of your natural color. We've all seen people walking around with that orangey hair with white roots after bleaching their hair. It's not exactly the best look for anybody. But be warned, this product works FAST. Once your hair is the desired shade and free of brassiness, this shampoo with start to tint your hair purple if left on for more than a minute or so. But nothing works better to neutralize any orange or brassiness out of your hair. Okay – I get my hair bleached and toned every 6-8 weeks. My ends are dry due to heat damage and from bleaching. This shampoo and conditioner work great to keep brass away. I got this product in January 2019 because there was a jumbo sale event, so I've been using it 2-4 times a week for almost a year. I've never had my hair become drastically ashier from the set but it has done wonders at keeping my hair looking cool and fresh. I haven't had brassy tones since using it. The set doesn't dry out my hair at all but it's not nourishing or moisturizing. It has a subtle coconut smell to it and the set is rich in purple hues. It's not a miracle set but with consistent use it will keep the brass away. 9/10 would recommend to anyone going blonde.Sarah
The product did tone the blonde in my hair. I have balayage but would use it for all over because I was lazy. I had never had any problems with other purple shampoos until I tried this one. So I went all in, using it a few times a week and developed the worst dry scalp which I have never had. I have always had beautiful oily shiny hair and it completely stripped my hair of any natural oil. I got rid of it and continued to have dry scalp for a couple of months. My scalp was so dry it was painful. I am very careful about what I use on my hair and this was unfortunately the only thing that I had that would cause this to happen. I would recommend bright lights in the purple bottle, probably wouldn't recommend the kenra brand either its drying. And learn a lesson from me, do not use this frequently if you are new to blonde and please use sparingly. My beautiful scalp still feels so stripped and dry and Ive had to spend big bucks on professional products in hopes it will recover.Sarah
After I had my hair colored blonde my stylist asked me how I got my hair so white and I told her I was using this. I still use this after it grew out because this keeps my gray hairs so white but the rest of my hair (brunette) much darker. It will dry out the scalp so I highly recommend using a conditioner after every use. I only use this every 2-3 days to keep the brightness of the grays and tone the brassiness of the rest of my hair.
