Best Shampoo For Long Straight Hair (2024 Update)

I was searching for a new go to shampoo and conditioner, something for my fine but thick, damaged and frizzes easily hair (its humid in the south), as I'm growing it out since I had to do a big chop. I did alot of searching online reading reviews on all products, that was my make or break on finally making a purchase. WTBS I'm super happy with this product and have been using it for over a month before even writing a review. The shampoo is so fragrant, it WOW'd me, it doesn't smell that strong out the bottle, I love it, but if you are sensitive to strong scents you might not like it, but after using over a week or so, you get used to its power and enjoy it alot. Lathers well, my hair feels super clean and soft, mega sleek is exactly what you get with this combination. When blow drying you can still smell the luxurious smell, faintly not over powering but where you know your hair smells SO GOOD! My frizz and fly aways are definitely helped by this product. I normally straighten my hair almost daily, but since my big chop and I'm growing out my natural hair, I want it super healthy and the least amount damaged as possible, so right now no flat iron only blow drying and it looks very good! I haven't had a haircut in over 22 weeks so I can only imagine how it would look straightened with the help of this Mega Sleek. This will be my shampoo and conditioner for a long time. The conditioner is nice and slimey (if you have hair like mine that will tangle horribly and you need a slimey conditioner just to be able to comb it after.. my hair is shoulder length now, but used to be LONG, my hair acts no different with a different length), its very conditioning and works very well!!! I have zero complaints on both these products and do recommend! Only warning is the scent if you are sensitive, you can always try and return, but give it a fair chance. I honestly love this stuff and so glad I found the right product so I can stick with something that makes me and my hair happy. FINALLY!! P.S. I leave my conditioner upside down, so its easier to squeeze it out VS shaking the bottle to get the conditioner to come out since its thick not runny.Jessica

I really love that this product truly makes my fizzy, wavy hair less frizzy and sleek! I come out of the shower with shiny hair and it seems to stay much more tame than with standard shampoos!! I am very happy with this shampoo! This shampoo has little to no scent, so it's great for people who also prefer mild-scented hair products! Highly recommend for anyone, but especially for those who deal with frizz! I usually buy Aveda smooth infusion but they changed the formula/product and reviews aren't great. So I tried this. I am completely surprised at how much I love it! I have an oily scalp with wavy waist length thick hair (many thin/low porosity strands). Color treated blonde. Problems: fluffy/poofy hair, greasy roots, dry ends, seborrheic dermatitis (on back of scalp) 1. Product longevity: I only used the allotted card sample packet of 10 mL shampoo & 10 mL conditioner, which I was prepared to not be enough for my long hair. It was perfect! It went a long way, which was a pleasant surprise right off the bat. 2. Scent: the fragrance is pleasant, light but it hangs in there, even into the next day. The scent is unisex. It just smells very *clean,* like a fresh aquatic citrus. Although it’s subtle, it is noticeable enough to get a “ooh your hair smells good” when someone goes in for the hug. 3. Effectiveness: this cleaned my hair so well, without making it feel overly dried or stripped. I have a hard time getting a good product that works with my dermatitis, and actually calmed the flare up I was having. Day 2 after wash, my head was so much less itchy than it was all week. My hair stayed clean and free of grease throughout all of day 1 and 2. Paired with the conditioner, my hair was smooth, shiny, soft (but not overly fluffy/full of poofy flyaways). It felt hydrated and my ends looked good. I’ve been faithful to olaplex for the past 2 years, but think I may have a new fave. I noticed that with olaplex, my hair began getting greasy SO quickly. I was getting greasy same day as wash. I still love it (that LATHER and scent tho!), but I think it’s too rich and moisture-focused for regular use given my oily scalp. My seborrheic dermatitis was getting worse and having intense flare ups. Anyway, everyone’s hair is different, and can change in different seasons, so I really don’t think there’s a “one size fits all” hair product that will be best for everyone at all times. My hair behaves weirdly, i'll just put it that way – it's difficult to achieve perfectly smooth styles. HOWEVER… I've been using OUAI products (I started with the THICK SHAMP+THICK COND.) for a little bit over a year now & all I can say is…I will NEVER go back to anything else, ever, unless I find something AS extraordinary as this brand. It's like magic in a bottle, to me at least. I have never experienced better hair (at home, done by me) in my entire life. It's insanely smooth & silky. I have such minimal frizz now. I normally need to blow dry AND straighten my hair, but I am beyond satisfied with just the blow-dried results. The only cons, I would say, is that because there's such rich and moisturizing ingredients (love to see it!) your hair can become a tad oily after the third day, even second sometimes. I have tried SO many different shampoos and conditioners. A lot from drugstore and high end. And lately I've noticed I've been shedding more than usual. I have been using pureology a lot. I've used strength cure, hydrate and the nano works good line. But for some reason the pureology strength cure especially really irritated my scalp and makes me lose soooo much hair. So I got the ouai thick hair shampoo and conditioner and the first time I used it my shedding was only like 10 hair strands! I've washed my hair 4 times with it now and my hair scalp feels so clean but the shampoo makes washing my hair so easy and doesn't tangle my hair. And the conditioner is chefs kiss. I barely have to use any and my hair is so conditioned after the shampoo/conditioner. My hair is so soft, shiny, clean and my natural waves/curls look really pronounced since using the set. Also they smell AMAZING I want a perfume in the shampoo scent! I got the leave in, oil, and curl cream and they all work together beautifully and don't make my hair feel producty which I like because pureolgy always leaves my hair feeling kinda gross when I use their leave ins. Anyway I totally recommend this set and if you're getting greasy hair from this set try the medium or fine hair set. This just probably isn't for your hair type. First off I thought this was like a thick lotion or cream and no, it is not.. so you’re gonna have to buy a squirt bottle or a mister of some type to go along with this product.  when you shake the bottle it sounds like water but giiiiirl it is not! I've used this product several times since my purchase and I've found it to be a terrific product! I typically use it before applying Aphogee Two Step Protein Treatment. Also, I use it for routine cleansing of my hair. It yields a soft and healthy texture. Since using these products, I've also been using the complete line of Aphogee Keratin Products. I like this leave in conditioner it has a water like consistency. It has almost a fruity pineapple scent. It doesnt moisturize my hair but It is also an additional heat protection so it makes my life easier to not constantly try to buy a seperate heat protectant for styling. It doesnt do much hydration at all but it does the job for a tiny extra bit of moisture. If youre someone that has low perosity hair i don’t recommend as it doesnt have much hydration properties at all but maybe for someone who has an oily scalp and want a more lightweight product this may be the one for you. This shampoo is holy grail. My hair felt better after one use! Hubby bought me the huge shampoo and conditioner I loved it so much! I recommend this to all ladies, especially those who have bleached or dyed hair. It makes my frizzy, wavy hair manageable and soft. It doesn’t have an intense smell, but it does smell good! The shampoo cleanses without stripping, and with this product I can go about a week without washing. I do rotate this with my purple shampoo, and I love that I don’t have to worry about this making my bleached blonde hair brassy in between purple shampoo uses. Although this makes my hair shiny and silky, my hair is falling out excessively when I brush and in the shower. I know you lose up to a 100 strand a day, but I'm losing an unusual amount. Never experienced this. I brushed through my whole head last night and had a whole clump of hair. Took a shower the next morning, then brushed again, and lost another huge handful of hair. It hadn't even been a whole day. It wasn't a gradual fall out of hair. I can only assume it is this shampoo because I don't use any other products on my head, other than its a ten miracle leave in product to detangle, but that never caused unusual fall out. However, my mom uses this shampoo and apparently it works good for her hair and we both love it's a ten, so I feel bad leaving this review but unfortunately my scalp didn't have a good reaction.Elizabeth

I wanted to love this because it smells really good in the bottle. I used in for the first time and when my hair air dried (I rarely blow dry anymore) it felt heavy, brittle and dry, but my roots were greasy, and my scalp started itching. I thought maybe it was a fluke and I was in a hurry and maybe didn't wash it out well. I used it a second time and really made sure to shampoo everything and rinse well. Same thing. This is my first time using a Pacifica hair care product. I have used a sunscreen of theirs in the past and I liked it so I thought I'd give this a shot.Pros:Smell is nice. My favorite scent in my favorite shampoo. The scent is not overwhelming (I am scent sensitive) so it goes along way to be able to enjoy the wonderful tropical scent. The Coconut Power shampoo works great without leaving your locks stripped but leaves them clean & healthy. Please do not ever stop making Coconut Power hair care. I absolutely ❤️ it all.AlohaMama

I have healthy fine hair which is prone to getting greasy. This shampoo sounded like a godsend and after first use I quite liked the results it certainly cleaned my hair. However after multiple uses I noticed my hair would be very extremely knitted after washing and brushing through was causing my hair to actually rip I could hear my hair snapping!!. This is very strange for my hair to rip I also noticed my hair felt kind of sticky or coated and running my hand through my hair again it would often rip !. I've tried every dark blonde and brunette dry shampoo on the market. I have fine hair and wash it about 3x a week. This shampoo not only helps with having it look fresh, I mostly use it for root cover up. It gives me an extra 2-3 weeks between colors. My hair is light blonde but my roots are very salt and pepper (mostly salt). It covers perfectly. Been using it for a few years now. To preface. I'm a 25 female. Natural light brown hair, bleached low maintenance blonde. Thick wavy frizzy hair that reaches the lower bottom of my back. Prone to split ends and breakage at the bottom of my hair. No extensions. I wanted to add this so people with similar hair types can relate. So to start, I'm so torn on this shampoo… I tried it for 3 weeks and I do like that this shampoo and conditioner cuts down on my overall frizz and made my hair so much smoother and less likely to tangle which is exactly what I was looking for. BUT there is some things about this shampoo I just can't ignore. First off the smell, I just can't get past it. It reminds me of a menthol cigarette. It just smells sooo minty and lingers after washing. Some people may not mind the smell but if my shampoo is going to linger, I'd prefer it to smell like something other than strong mint and almost a tea tree smell. Second, when the conditioner sets for a couple minutes before rinsing out I've noticed that my back and neck where the product has been laying in my hair will get very cold and tingly. Almost like how when you have a breath mint you get the same effect in your mouth but it's on your body this time. This alone made me decide not to repurchase. I like my shower water very warm and I found myself constantly turning the heat up because while the conditioner set I would get extremely cold from the tingly feeling. It can be overwhelming sometimes and linger even after washing the area thoroughly and drying off. I would assume if this was a shampoo and conditioner without the minty smell that I was having an allergic reaction to it but since it has that smell I just really don't know if the tingle is intended or not. And lastly, I've noticed a lot of small breakage at the top of my hair by my scalp. I'm not prone to breakage that high and only notice it after a fresh bleach every once and a while although it is usually very rare for me. I should note that it has been 3 months since my last bleach since I am a low maintenance blonde and I was not using this product during my last bleach. I also take a lot measures to protect my hair that could be the cause of breakage that high. So at this point only thing I've changed is this shampoo and conditioner. I've decided not to finish the rest of the bottle due to concerns about further breakage. This is just my experience. Some people seem to love it but it's a no from me. I hope this helps some people on the fence after reading conflicting reviews. I've switched to Joyco kpac reconstructing shampoo that has also given me the same desirable results so far with a much better smell, no breakage, and most importantly no tingly feeling on by skin.Lexi

I saw the hair loss reviews but if the hair is coming out at the follicle then that is definitely health related not from a shampoo. Shampoo cannot cause hair loss unless maybe a severe reaction to the scalp and there's swelling and for whatever reason the follicle comes out with it but that is highly unlikely. But anyways back to my review lol this is the most hydrating gentle shampoo I've ever used it's perfect! It cleans my hair and makes my scalp feel so refreshed but my hair is detangled and moisturized! And the conditioner is so creamy and moisturizing! The scents for both are so relaxing to me and my hair and scalp are taken care of with this set of shampoo and conditioner. my hair is so soft, shiny and perfectly moisturized. I am in love with Pureology Smooth Perfection Shampoo! This is my first time trying Pureology and I had no idea what to expect. The first thing I noticed about the smooth perfection shampoo was the scent, I loved the hints of cocoa. Upon first application I decided to use a small amount and I am glad I did, a little bit goes a long way with this shampoo. I have really long hair and I only had to use a quarter size amount or less. I want to point out that I always have to use a handful of shampoo when I use my usual drugstore brand, so I was shocked by how little I had to use of the pureology. I massaged the shampoo in my hair for a good 1 to 2 minutes and then proceeded to wash it out. My hair felt so soft and clean without feeling stripped at all. I typically have a lot of fallout when I wash my hair, but noticed less strands of hair coming out while washing. I followed up by using the pureology smooth perfection conditioner. I also use a quarter size amount or less and it was more than enough. I focused this conditioner at the ends of my hair and put whatever was leftover on my roots. I let the conditioner sit for the recommend time of 1 to 2 minutes and then proceeded to wash it out. I felt like it took no time to wash all of the conditioner out. My hair was less tangled and overall felt so much healthier than what I am used to. I used the smoothing lotion on the ends of my hair, blow dried my hair and was so amazed by the end result. The end result after I blow dried and straightened my hair was incredible. My hair was less frizzy and more straight making it so easy to straighten. I would like to add that my hair is very wavy/curly and frizzy after washing. The price for the Pureology Smooth Perfection set is a bit expensive, but honestly it is worth every penny. I got this product complimentary from Influenster and Pureology for my honest review. I really loved how this product worked for my hair. It left it so smooth and silky. It lathered really nicely and felt great when I washed it. It also rinsed out nice and easy and left my scalp feeling great. When I blew my hair dry it was like silk. Absolutely fabulous! Only negative, which I was REALLY surprised about, was the scent of this product. It was not pleasant at all to me and not something like I’ve ever smelled in a shampoo. I didn’t like it and for me that is important in a shampoo. I have other Pureology products and love their scents. it’s just this one that I couldn’t tolerate. I received this product from influencer pureology, but all opinions are completely my own. I have enjoyed using this shampoo. I find that the combination of the shampoo conditioner does help smooth my long hair and does really help smooth frizz. The shampoo cleanes hair great, good lather though it can make hair feel only slightly stripped. Conditioner is a nice one that helps smooth but doesn't overdo it and cause hair to feel heavy. Both help cleanse and Condition my hair without feeling too dry or too weighed down. The heat protectant from this line is nice and I feel it helps smooth hair and help make it somewhat softer. Excellent! Used in conjunction with the Lazer Straight Shampoo this Conditioner leaves my hair so soft and smooth. I feel like I've given my hair a deep treatment every time I wash my hair. I have very fine hair that is highlighted. After washing my hair with Boosta shampoo and conditioner, I spritz this on. Great results with volume and beachy waves that hold. Docked a star because the smell is a bit strong on the harsher side – almost like pickles! It doesn't seem to make my hair smell but it's a bit rough when it is sprayed. This is my honest and authentic opinion, as a Sephora Beauty Insider Community Ambassador, of how this product has performed for me with consistent use over the last 3-4 months. MY HAIR TYPE & CONCERNS: * Individual strands are fine but I have a lot of them so it looks like my hair is thicker than it actually is * Color treated * Scalp can lean oily * Length and ends can be dry * Heat styling tools used occasionally PRODUCT CLAIM(S) & RESULTS: * Repair damage? YES, but my hair was fairly healthy prior to using this. That said, I have not seen any split ends or breakage. I've also noticed that my hair looks and feels less flat and stringy than it does with other shampoos. * Reduce frizz? YES! My hair can experience some frizz on occasion but I've noticed that it's been a lot less (or some weeks, zero frizz) during the time I've been using this shampoo. * Prevent color fading? Most definitely, YES! I can extend the number of weeks that go by before I feel the need to get in for a touch up. * Stronger, shinier and healthier hair? YES! It's not just that my hair feels less dry, but it actually feels soft, not stringy, and lightly hydrated; my ends look healthy. My scalp feels soothed and clean, but not overly stripped, and the oiliness does not return immediately. FYI / OTHER THOUGHTS: * Scent – The herbaceous, slightly floral scent lingers slightly, but it does eventually dissipate completely. * Performance – I wash my hair less frequently since using this sulfate-free shampoo. The smell is something I can't put my finger on. They must have formulated it from many different subtle scents that play superbly well together. It is amazing how a smell can transport you to the most luxurious place. You will feel like you are showering in a castle in France. At least I did. At first I felt that the bottle looked too rigid, making it difficult to extract shampoo from it. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find it so pliable. It is so easy to squeeze shampoo from it, and the shape is so unique but functional. It makes me feel happy every time I see the fancy bottle in my bathroom. I got the three set of mini products free through an offer on Sephora. I finally used them last night and my hair is pretty thick. Most of the products say from fine to medium but I feel they definitely worked on mine. On a YouTube review one of the products I got said not to use on blonde or red hair though. Pretty sure it wasn’t the shampoo though. Wasn’t crazy about the fact that I had to read how to use it on the Sephora site. Maybe on the full size bottles they say the directions on them, but for the most part it was all in French. But it didn’t bother me enough to deduct a star. I’m 40, and my mom had saved one of my first white blonde curls (I turned every shade of blonde until puberty and then wahmp mouse brown) my hair is dyed darker, but last time I dyed it was in March of 2021. I purchased both shampoo & conditioner. Before I bought Living Proof 3 purchases ago. I have been on a hunt for a shampoo that would go great with my hair. I wanted to switch off from the drug store products like dove because it was breaking my hair so much & my hair just ultimately got thin wether from bleaching my hair or genetics. Either way we all know that the drug store products can strip your hair. On Living proofs website they have this hair test where it can help you figure out what hair products they have will be good for your hair type. My hair is fine, thin, brittle and super straight. I wanted more fullness in my hair & so far my hair does not have a lot of breakage anymore, I have more hair growth. I wash my hair every 2-3 days (yes, that's still a lot to some of you hahaha) but my hair used to get super oily the 1st day before using Living Proof. Now, I can maintain it within those days & within those days although my hair gets slightly oily it still feels/smells clean. I fell in love with their scent by the way. 8/10 recommend because it is pricey but I think it is very much worth.vb1112

I have thinning hair in some major need of a volume boost. This has definitely helped! The whole experience is such a pleasure. Smells incredible! This is the first time I try a shampoo and conditioner duo from living proof. I have very fine, thin hair that tangles easily and usually volumizing products or thickening products make it more tangled instead of just giving me soft, maneageable volumized hair, but this duo actually worked on my hair. It didn't make it look dull and gave a slight lift that wasn't exaggerated. This shampoo lathered really nicely and made my hair feel clean. I can't use shampoo that doesn't lather so I was satisfied with this one, it wasn't too much or too little. The formula is clear and has a soft fruity scent in my opinion.Sarahg2mua

I love Tresseme as a brand. I really do. I have just starting balayaging my very dark,almost-black hair,and I usually buy salon brands. Before I started coloring,I always had Tresseme in my shower. So I figured I’d try this line,the keratin line,as it’s recommended for color treated/bleached hair. And it works beautifully. Color safe and leaves my hair soft and with volume, and significantly less frizz(my hair gets very frizzy in the Summer). I love this make a great price always and you know that you are going to get a great result. For those who follow me, I have dexterity issues and I seem to be finding more and more that big bottles and me don't work!!!. I had to use my husbands shower as my wet room was having new rails added, so a normal shower with a foldable stool in it for me, for me anything with keratin in it my hair loves and I saw this latest one and had to give it a try. It was freak for my hair my hair soaked it up, I tend to try and alternate different makes as it what suits me. Lush and bubbly, felt thick and creamy to use, as with all new types of shampoo I tend to use too much and I always leave it 9n longer. When I washed it off before the conditioner my hair felt nice not dry or tough, so far so good. The only downside for me is the bottles are so big and heavy it really makes it hard for me to get the product out!!! As its too tough for me to hold and squeeze it out so once I've used a new one a couple of times and I know that it's going to be q keeper, my husband transfers some into a smaller travel size bottle so I can actually lift it and squeeze it out. I have an oily scalp with wavy waist length thick hair (many thin/low porosity strands). Color treated blonde. Problems: fluffy/poofy hair, greasy roots, dry ends, seborrheic dermatitis (on back of scalp) 1. Product longevity: I only used the allotted card sample packet of 10 mL shampoo & 10 mL conditioner, which I was prepared to not be enough for my long hair. It was perfect! It went a long way, which was a pleasant surprise right off the bat. 2. Scent: the fragrance is pleasant, light but it hangs in there, even into the next day. The scent is unisex. It just smells very *clean,* like a fresh aquatic citrus. Although it’s subtle, it is noticeable enough to get a “ooh your hair smells good” when someone goes in for the hug. 3. Effectiveness: this cleaned my hair so well, without making it feel overly dried or stripped. I have a hard time getting a good product that works with my dermatitis, and actually calmed the flare up I was having. Day 2 after wash, my head was so much less itchy than it was all week. My hair stayed clean and free of grease throughout all of day 1 and 2. Paired with the conditioner, my hair was smooth, shiny, soft (but not overly fluffy/full of poofy flyaways). It felt hydrated and my ends looked good. I’ve been faithful to olaplex for the past 2 years, but think I may have a new fave. I noticed that with olaplex, my hair began getting greasy SO quickly. I was getting greasy same day as wash. I still love it (that LATHER and scent tho!), but I think it’s too rich and moisture-focused for regular use given my oily scalp. My seborrheic dermatitis was getting worse and having intense flare ups. Anyway, everyone’s hair is different, and can change in different seasons, so I really don’t think there’s a “one size fits all” hair product that will be best for everyone at all times. That being said, transitioning into warmer, humid spring/summer weather, I’m really pleased to have found this product. It’ll be great for clean summer hair.jessicaeve1023

For reference: I have LONG hair with a naturally wavy/curly texture, and with that comes frizz. A lot of it – even though I'm very aware of how to tame it (naturally kept or with a blow-out). My hair behaves weirdly, i'll just put it that way – it's difficult to achieve perfectly smooth styles. HOWEVER… I've been using OUAI products (I started with the THICK SHAMP+THICK COND.) for a little bit over a year now & all I can say is…I will NEVER go back to anything else, ever, unless I find something AS extraordinary as this brand. It's like magic in a bottle, to me at least. I have never experienced better hair (at home, done by me) in my entire life. It's insanely smooth & silky. I have such minimal frizz now. I normally need to blow dry AND straighten my hair, but I am beyond satisfied with just the blow-dried results. The only cons, I would say, is that because there's such rich and moisturizing ingredients (love to see it!) your hair can become a tad oily after the third day, even second sometimes. You just need to figure out what the right amount of product is for you so that you don't over do it. The second con, though it's nothing too crazy, would be that sometimes I end up needing more product in the shower, as it doesn't lather suuuuper well – but again, this depends on hair length and the amount that you know you need. I guess I just wish it foamed a bit more, is all. BUT these are such small things that can be resolved & aren't much of a big deal. For the oily con as mentioned above, this is why I switched to the MEDIUM line & I feel like it has helped. The THICK line may have heavier ingredients. I have tried SO many different shampoos and conditioners. A lot from drugstore and high end. And lately I've noticed I've been shedding more than usual. I have been using pureology a lot. I've used strength cure, hydrate and the nano works good line. But for some reason the pureology strength cure especially really irritated my scalp and makes me lose soooo much hair. So I got the ouai thick hair shampoo and conditioner and the first time I used it my shedding was only like 10 hair strands! I've washed my hair 4 times with it now and my hair scalp feels so clean but the shampoo makes washing my hair so easy and doesn't tangle my hair. And the conditioner is chefs kiss. I barely have to use any and my hair is so conditioned after the shampoo/conditioner. My hair is so soft, shiny, clean and my natural waves/curls look really pronounced since using the set. Also they smell AMAZING I want a perfume in the shampoo scent! I got the leave in, oil, and curl cream and they all work together beautifully and don't make my hair feel producty which I like because pureolgy always leaves my hair feeling kinda gross when I use their leave ins. Anyway I totally recommend this set and if you're getting greasy hair from this set try the medium or fine hair set. This just probably isn't for your hair type. This really is a 'Brilliant' shampoo. If you want squeaky clean, nicely scented hair, I have never come across anything better (& there's many years' experience of trying hundreds of others)! It works so well, seems to get rid of all the products I use for styling etc and the squeak, I am sure you could hear from the other side of the bathroom! I always return to this product even when I've tried some even more upmarket shampoo but my hair never feels really clean unless I've used Brilliant shampoo. Am not very keen on the Brilliant Conditioner, however, which just doesn't work for my fine hair. NB I have no connection with the makers of this product! I can't believe how many reviewers say they actually like the smell of this product. Maybe mine is a bad batch? But the smell is so bad it makes me so nauseous. It just smells like baby oil and herbs but sooo strong it's unbearable. I regret buying this and which I had a sample first. I used it only once and had to rewash my hair because the smell lingered. Just way too strong. The condition smells terrible too, but not AS strong as the shampoo, and the conditioner works okay, but I got the cherry almond instead. I hate strong smells I wish it had more of a subtle, more floral or feminine smell to it. It is just such a weird smelling shampoo. I used this shampoo and conditioner for years, only changed because I started coloring my hair. I quit coloring my hair and was very excited to start using the Brilliant line again. Sad to say…it doesn't smell as wonderful as it used to! I loved the shine, softness and the beautiful smell it left in my hair but it's definitely not as amazing as it was! I'm disappointed so I'm not sure I'm going to keep it, I also herd they changed Aveda products and I'm afraid that could be the issue. Broken hearted:(. Well, super bummed. I liked the light scent. It doesn't smell "good" but not bad either and it doesn't linger so I don't care about that. First time I used, literally thought I forgot to rinse conditioner out. So I washed next day (usually only wash twice a week). My hair was fine, but seemed a bit heavy. Used it yesterday without the conditioner this time because I used a hair mask (which I've been using for years). Could tell immediately when rinsing the mask my hair felt really weird. Then again today everything but the top most layer is a weird filmy greasy mess! So it's not just the conditioner, but the shampoo. It leaves a gross film on my hair making it super greasy. I have an oilier scalp but I can still go days between washes. This stuff somehow has the strands extremely oily! Will definitely return this one. Hot, dry climate + curls = extra dry hair. I purchased this along with the condition with the hopes of going for a cruelty free, vegan brand that could nourish my locks in time for summer – I was let down and then some. I'm an Ulta employee and I decided to try this when we first got it in our location. I tried the Ghost line's kit and it just wasn't for me (I feel that it weighed my hair down a bit but my hair is really finicky) so I was afraid to try the hydration line. My hair isn't super fine but it's also not really thick, just kinda in the middle, but I have A LOT of hair. I used to get a full highlight every three months for 8 years before deciding to dye it darker. My hair is a little damaged to say the least and it's pretty dry. I tried the shampoo and conditioner, and was surprised at how nice the shampoo lathered despite being sulfate free. Over time I noticed that my hair didn't fade as quickly as when I used my bumble and bumble line. My hair felt healthier and hydrated, but without any weird residue, texture, or weigh down. It DEFINITELY cut down on frizz and made my hair much shinier. 10/10 get this if your hair needs weightless hydration.Twenty something makeup artist

my daughter recommended this shampoo along with the conditioner. I was surprisingly disappointed. I of course thought right away that it would be effective based on the cost. Not at all, for starters I felt it made my hair more tangled and hard to manage which concerned me cause I already have course hair and figured how am I going to get out of this tangled mess. The conditioner didn't even help a bit and need I mention that when I tried to style my hair it was never ending. I was completely surprised that this didn't do for me what all the reviews I read said it would. I understand everyone's hair is different but I read so many reviews raving about this that I had no doubt that this was going to be the best shampoo I'd ever tried. Boy was I wrong… The first issue I had with this was that it didn't latter do a degree that I am used to. I thought I was going to be able to work around this but without the latter I really didn't feel as though it was cleaning my hair. I started with one pump but that really only washed the top of my head- barely. Another pump for my hair (mid back length, curly) which lathered even less on the strands then my scalp. Using two pumps – sometimes three- really doesn't bode well for the life of the product. With that said problem two arose; this barely lasted a month and a half using it every other day. At 24$ a bottle it really isn't realistic for me to keep purchasing when I was having no results and basically dumping it down the drain. Results were really nonexistent, my hair was still frizzy and ultimately more dry than before I started using it. There was no real change in texture in the month I used it. There was no problem for me with the smell like some people had, it just smelled like salon shampoo. Unfortunately I will not be purchasing this again, however I wouldn't tell people to stay away as so many reviewers said that it did wonders for them so I imagine I'm just an off case. I was so close to not even trying this, I had been given a sample to try and almost gave it away but I finally tried it after a long stressful day and omg.. the smell alone sent me to heaven. I mean I know most hair products smell good but this is like a perfume for your hair, which this company actually makes a hair fragrance (I did some research after trying this mask) so I'm not surprised that this smells so good, but I mean it REALLY smells good! And as for the results, my hair is bleached and has about 6 different colors in it, it's long, down to my butt, and VERY dry/brittle.
