I was so keen to try this product as I wanted a sulphate free shampoo to help define my naturally wavy/curly hair. After the first wash I instantly saw results with less frizz and more curls! But after the second wash my hair didn’t feel clean as the shampoo really struggles to lather up to cover the whole scalp. I was having to shampoo twice and used a lot of product. I then felt I had to wash my hair after a couple of days as it felt really dirty and greasy with a build up of product, I have thick hair and would usually wash my hair twice a week so had to go back to my old shampoo. I also used with the curl conditioner and styling crème which were great and work really well and I have kept using them. If they make some changes to this product then I’ll definitely come back to it.Emily

I have medium/dark brown hair with blond balayage highlights that didn't process full so they tend to go brass/orange between appointments for toners. This product made my hair very shiny and while it's not meant to tone, it did brighten my highlights as promised. I decided to try this during a Ulta jumbo sale. I have tried and loved the Its a 10 leave in treatments so i was excited to try this. Its a good shampoo. Leaves my hair soft and clean without weighing it down. Its a pretty thick gel consistency though so you have to work it a tad in your hands before putting it on your hair. It lathers nicely as well and smells good. Only reason i didnt give it 5 stars is because it doesn't add as much volume as i hoped for but then again i have pretty thin hair. I have tried every purple shampoo imaginable. I have been platinum (white) blonde for 7 years now and always have had banding between my roots and grow-out. I got this product due to a lot of good reviews. I use professional purple shampoo but ran out so figured id give this a go. MISTAKE. After 3 uses my hair is falling out in huge clumps, like cleaning your hairbrush once a month clumps. It's horrible! The smell is so chemical smelling and when trying to wash it out my hair felt like straw and I couldn't even put my fingers through it!!! I had to add conditioner on top of the shampoo just to be able to break through and wash the shampoo out. Worst mistake and I'm taking it back to ulta. Why is this product even a best seller? Be careful and mindful when purchasing this do your research on the ingredients and what is used to make this product work as I wasn’t aware it would quit literally strip my hair of thousands of dollars worth of work away from my hair …. this product has like a lightning agent in it as it bleached my roots and made my hair super ugly …. and quit literally damaged your hair it did this in as little as 3 minutes for me … so be careful not sure who this product work for ? so for the past around 8 years I've been using Shimmer Lights, since everyone would recommend that to me. Recently I tried Matrix purple shampoo, which worked the same way as shimmer lights. Where if you leave it on too long, you get purple hair… and I thought that was the case with all purple shampoo. Until I watched a Brad Mondo video and he reviewed this shampoo and it looked great in the video. But was it in real life…? My hair is a little yellow too after the bleach, which the shimmer lights, would just turn it to purple, which I thought was better then yellow. Finally tried this shampoo, and it takes a couple uses, esp since I had tinted purple hair as well. But it became a nice white platinum color as stated. This shampoo lives up to its name! Very impressed. I used Redken long ago but it’s been years since I purchased the brand since I’m always trying new and innovative products. When I received this High Bright line the timing couldn’t have been better and my hair is very light blonde, and I’ve been working hard to combat it becoming brassy from mineral deposits in my well water. Initially I thought this shampoo would have a tint (I assumed blue/purple toning element) so I was surprised to see this was clear. The consistency is thick like a jelly but with major slip. It’s quite a different feeling, but it suds up very well on my scalp. I only wash my hair twice per week so it does get quite greasy but fortunately this cuts through that even without a double wash. I can tell when rinsing out my hair feels smooth even before conditioning to seal everything. The scent is also so delicious- almost like a unisex almost a light cologne scent but not too masculine. I’m combination with the High Bright conditioner, after washing drying and styling as normal I can say that my hair is softer and shinier than it has been in a very long time! Like so shiny it’s what I have been desperately looking for in a product. I’m not sure of the ingredients that make my hair look light and bright, but it is effective and leaves it with a super clean feel (no weight). Will definitely repurchase when I run out. I’ll start by saying I have used many Redken products in the past and I have always been very impressed with this line. It’s also one of the more affordable professional salon brands out there and I highly recommend the brand overall! When I first tried this shampoo I used it in conjunction with the pre treatment spray and conditioner. Using all three of these products together definitely gave the best results! I also used this shampoo without the pre treatment and it still gave a good brightness to my blonde on its own!At first I expected this to be a purple toning shampoo, especially based on the color of the bottle but this in NOT a purple toning shampoo! However this does help to cut brass tones just the same way purple toning shampoos do. The difference is that this does a lot more than just tone! It brightens the blondes and keeps it healthy, shiny and not dried out or hard to manage! I think this is a great shampoo for regular use on blondes since it does keep it healthy and manageable. Unlike purple toning shampoos that should be used less frequently in blonde hair as causes the hair to be dry and frizzy if used too frequently. This shampoo helped to keep my hair looking good in between salon visits! I was also able to go longer in between salon visits with this shampoo! I will definitely be purchasing this again! Just like the High Bright pre-treatment and shampoo, this conditioner is a stellar product! I’m so happy Influenster sent this to me otherwise I may not have tried this line. I was a big Redken fan years ago, but have just wanted to try so many other big lines and new products that I hadn’t gone back to Redken. These products used together are absolutely effective and love you to the claim of bight blonde results. My community well water leaves trace mineral deposits that full my hair and also make it feel brittle, so when I go to my hair girl every 12 weeks she works hard to bleach and tone me (my ends especially) to brighten me up again. I’m a level 9/10, so any products that help are a big plus. What I love about this product is not only the beautiful package and lovely unisex scent, but this conditioner has no toning elements it’s white not blue/purple, and it’s thick like a mask instead of a typical conditioner. I apply after shampooing and let sit for 5-10 minutes while I finish up my shower and rinse out right at the end. Oh my gosh this not only makes my hair look bright and shiny, but My hair is so so soft and smooth. I’m shocked. My hair is softer than it has been in a very long time, even though I use other prestigious hair care products that claim to hydrate. My ends especially need extra moisture and wow do they look great. Regardless if I heat style or air dry, my hair looks smooth with less frizz than before, and so soft. I’m obsessed! I am told by my stylist that I have fine hair but a lot of it. I was noticing that I was losing what looked like a lot of hair to me in the shower and in my brushes. I tried some different shampoos and conditioners and none seemed better than the others. I was having a particular problem with tangles when my hair was wet. I have very hard water so that is probably part of the issue. My sister has amazing hair, she grows it down to her waist and donates it to a wigs for kids program. She uses this shampoo and conditioner even though she doesn't color her hair so I tried it and it is working great for me. Detangles, my hair looks healthy, and I see less coming out in the shower and brushes. I use the shampoo and conditioner together every other day. On the in-between day I get it wet and just use a little conditioner from around where a low ponytail would be to the ends for detangling. I thought the fragrance was too strong at first but have gotten used to it now. I have tried many shampoos for my bleached blonde hair. This shampoo works amazing on my dry brittle hair. I personally think it works way better than Opalex. This shampoo leaves my hair silky, smooth and doesn't fade my colored hair either. While Opalex made my hair feel like straw hair. I highly recommend this shampoo if you want silky smooth hair. My hair has gotten extremely damaged from using OGX products that currently have a class action lawsuit against them for formaldehyde, cancer causing ingredients & instead of moisturizing & repairing it's drying it from the inside out, causing horrible damage you didn't see starting, until you have a ton of broken hair & even HAIR LOSS!! My hair last year was long to my belt loops. We thought was this because of coloring? Stopped coloring it last year, it's been growing out for awhile. Warning – Conditioner is a MUST with this shampoo! It really does clean your head and it kind of dries out my hair, but I love it. I have very fine, straight hair that has gotten thinner as I've gotten older. I do not color it or use any products and I rarely use a blow-dryer, so my hair is pretty healthy. My scalp is oily though so by the end of the day, my hair feels gross. This has helped me keep my hair feeling less greasy for longer. The smell is very light and refreshing, too. I follow this with the mint scalp conditioner by Matrix (just a schmear!) and my head feels better than it has in years!Erica
I've tried this product multiple times with no avail for my super oily scalp. It smells wonderful, isn't harsh, and cleanses great (initially). Within hours my roots are horribly oily, looks like I haven't washed my hair in days. Hubby loves it, but he has thick normal hair. I have tried so many different clarifying shampoos over the years. I have fine, thin, long hi-lighted blonde hair. I use 2 different leave in products for strengthening/conditioning/heat protectant. It’s a clear shampoo with a great clean scent. Unlike some sulfate free, no build up type shampoos, this didn’t leave my dry and frizz prone hair feeling stripped. It actually gave my hair a soft and smooth feeling. I use this once weekly and wash with another shampoo for my other shampooing during the week. I can’t speak to how this product works for those who wash daily but it definitely feels gentle. I originally got this from a Today Show steals & deals segment (they sucker me in all the time) and received full size shampoo, conditioner, and 3 other styling and heat protectant products. I always try things for several weeks, go back to my usual stuff for several weeks and see if I can tell a difference. I absolutely positively can with this shampoo/conditioner! My hair is silky, light, bouncy, shiny and not greasy at all. My notice my ends don’t get as dry between washes (I was my hair once/week) and I can go much longer before I need dry shampoo. My color looks amazing and even if I didn’t have any color (majority of my hair is my natural color) I would still use WOW. Give it a shot – it’s very comparable to SUPER expensive/higher end stuff and PRO TIP for you girls saying it left your hair “gunky” – girl get your head under the bathroom sink after your shower with cold cold water to make sure ALL of it is out of your hair/scalp. I wish I could give this 4.5 stars. The smell is mild, nice. It lathers up well. It doesn’t tangle my hair like some other sulfate free shampoos do. It creates beautiful shine. I don’t notice any color fallout at all. Overall I really enjoy this shampoo and have repurchased it a few times. My issue is that I feel like I have to use a lot of it each time and if I wash my hair more than twice a week, the ends can feel a little dry. I used to use ShiKai Color Reflect Platinum shampoo all the time, then they added a little purple coloring (D&C Violet #2) to the formula. Great news if you have grey, silver, or platinum hair, perhaps not so great if you have pure white hair, as I do. If you have white hair but it has a tendency to yellow due to local water conditions, this will help. In my case, my hair stays white by itself, and too-frequent use of this product gave me a bit of purple tinge. I switched to using their daily shampoo, and still use the ShiKai Color Reflect conditioner, which does NOT have any artificial coloring. The color-reflecting natural plant extracts in this product line makes one's hair look like a) one has been to a very expensive salon and b) one must have been eating a perfect, healthy diet. I've been using this shampoo for years. The color boost was nice, and more importantly, my hair looked perfectly shiny and bouncy. Whenever I tried another brand, I would just go back to this one, since nothing compared. Unfortunately, in the last couple of months, Shikai changed both it's formula and it's packaging. The new formula is terrible. My hair still feels dirty after I use it, and by the end of the day, my straight hair looks stringy and greasy. I'm so sad! Shikai, please bring back the old formula! I have used Shakai products for about eight years. In my 60's with strawberry blond hair I had tried lots of products to temporarily cover the gray without having an artificial look. I have introduced several hair dressers to the product line. The products are all natural, without animal testing. I use a cleansing shampoo first to remove all product and environmental soils and then shampoo the second time with Shakai leaving it on while I shower. Hairdressers have remarked that my color looks natural and have asked what I do. I now take the shampoo when I get my hair cut and ask the stylist to use it. I get great results, and don't have to worry about roots. Cost is reasonable and setting it up with Vitacost's Set and Save, I never have to worry about running out.Jenni16

Excellent quality toning! My hair color looked so good, the last time I had my roots highlighted at the salon, I asked my stylist what she used. She told me it was this shampoo. It was not for sale at the salon, so I looked for it online. The shampoo has a nice floral fragrance and does not dry out the hair. It also does not turn the hair a gray ashy tone. It creates a more bright pearly blonde. My hair is fine and very long, natural dark blonde mixed with light pale blonde highlights. Some purple shampoos have a tendency to darken my natural dark blonde hair and lighten only the highlights, this shampoo did not do that. It creates an overall toned look. I purchased the matching toning conditioner, "BELFAST". I highly recommend it to complete the overall look, moisturize the hair and soften any tangles. There is only one complaint, the cap on the shampoo bottle has a tendency to collect water and when it mixes with the shampoo, it dribbles like purple watercolor paint down the sides of the bottle. I remove the cap when I use the shampoo to avoid this issue.SaraBee
I've been using the purple shampoo for 6 year's and Pulp Riot is the best purple shampoo in the market by far! Other purple shampoos make my hair dry and don't give me that silver tone that I like and they smell really bad. Pulp Riot leaves my hair silky silvery and don't smell! Just remember it's concentrated so u need a very small amount! I use regular shampoo every time I wash my hair and every two weeks I use the purple shampoo and leave it on my hair for less than a minute and rinse! The smell is divine, okay let's just get that out of the way first! It's amazing. I have tried over 30 toning shampoos and treatments, this is my favorite. It's super potent, so if you're looking to eliminate brass, consider it done. Just know, it's extremely pigmented. If you have very little brassiness, do NOT leave this on for longer than about 60 seconds. That's all it will take. I personally love that silver/lavender look, so I'll keep it on for about 5 minutes and have mermaid hair. 🙂kristen.f

I know this review is lengthy but only because I LOVE this shampoo. Let me tell you, when I received this product, I was nervous. Seeing as it was a color depositing shampoo, and the instructions say to avoid your scalp (because of staining), I was upset. I dance for 2 hours every day and by the end I am a greasy/sweaty MESS. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get my same "clean" feeling as I do with my old shampoo. But I have been using this daily and I can honestly say my hair is so clean after using it but not that dry overly "squeaky" clean like some shampoos. This is a genuine CLEAN that didn't strip my hair of any moisture. The scent is great, very fresh and not overly fragrant or unnatural smelling. On top of that, it WORKS. I am a natural medium-deep brunette and I've got red/copper undertones that are clearly visible in natural lighting, mainly towards to ends of my hair. Not anymore though! I've got beautiful, soft, and shiny deep chocolate hair now and I've been using it for a week now! My only real complaint is that it can be a little tedious to use. Since it can stain, they recommend wearing gloves and keeping it off the scalp as stated previously. I didn't think it would stain that bad, so I put it in my hair one day without gloves and the dye had gotten under my fingernails and it looked like I had dirt under them, as well as product having dripped down the back of my neck and leaving a bit of darkness there. I recently got this shampoo to use once a week after I had my hair colored. I couldn't stop using it because it makes my hair feel so amazing. You know that clean feeling that some shampoos and conditioners leave you with? That kind of clean! I know every product is different for every type of hair but I will be using this until it no longer works for my hair. I can't stop touching it and running my fingers through it. **It does stain around my nails but I have a nail brush in my shower and I just scrub my nails after and it helps or most of the time, completely gets rid of the dark stains! Using the entire Matrix Dark Envy line, this is definitely the icing on the cake. It's creamy and thick and you definitely don't need as much as I used the first time. Lol. A small quarter sized amount or a touch more for long hair, like mine. I would not recommend using this without at least using the shampoo. I prefer the mask as well. But this is more like a toner or final coat to the color renewal system. It won't add color alone.eskmom

I was recommended this from my friend after I bleached my hair from dark brunette so was quite a change. I was dreading brassiness and thinking I might have to go through another round of bleach and professional toning (after putting my hair through it twice already) but this shampoo was perfect. I use it 1-2 times a week with the bleach London silver conditioner and it gives my hair a nice silver tone, removing any brassiness. This purple shampoo is absolutely brilliant and the best I've tried. It really does make an obvious difference to your highlights when they're looking a bit yellow or needing done again. Even my hairdresser asked me what shampoo I'd been using. It's cruelty-free and vegan too, so even better. I wash my hair with my normal shampoo, then apply this and leave it in for around 5-10 minutes. Wear gloves though as it stains, and don't use it when you're having a shower as you'll end up purple.Cherry B.
I'd say it's quite strong – it really is a shampoo that you'd use like a normal shampoo. It wasn't able, however, to tone my yellowish just bleached roots (left shampoo on roots only for 6 mins), but for the hair length 3 minutes were too many – hair in fact turned purple. Beware: the ingredients list which is indicated on this page by lookfantastic is absolutely different from reality. I was looking for a non-sulfate version (I have keratin on hair) and was so so happy that I've found a good option without any sulfates that I could potentially use more frequent. The ingredients list on the bottle itself, however, lists SLES and Sodium Chloride. Had I known this, I would go for another product 🙁Alex

Absolutely love this shampoo! It has helped my hair so much. I was considering chopping it all off cause it was so dry and dead after my last bleaching but this shampoo has made it do a complete 180. The conditioner, however, although it works well too I have to use way more of it than what it says on the bottle, making it not worth the price. I have been using this product for years, my hair is fine and getting thinner with age , after washing my hair with this shampoo my hair becomes lighter and good condition. I have very long, thick, bleach blonde hair that tangles easily. This shampoo is a game changer. No matter what other products I may cycle through, I use this every time I wash my hair and always have backups on hand! I'm a natural golden blonde, but my new growth can get dull in the winter when not exposed to sunlight as often, or with general buildup that we all get on our hair. This effectively cleanses my hair without making it feel stripped, while also providing juuuust the tiniest bit of extra lightening every wash! Pro tip: only the shampoo in this line contains an actual chemical lightening agent, not the conditioner, so this is all you need to see the effect. But it's such a low concentration, and rinsed out so much more quickly than salon lightening, that it will only ever be a subtle change. (And I'm not even sure it would do anything to hair darker than a level 7 or so…) You literally can't mess it up. I have been using this shampoo for a really long time, about 2 years. I am a natural blonde, I have never dyed my hair. Over the years, my blonde hair was getting darker and darker. As I didn't want to dye my hair, I was looking for different cosmetics to lighten and emphasize my blonde color. For me, this shampoo is a bull's eye. It is true that the price scares me off a bit, but I am always looking for a promotion for it. The shampoo dries the hair. Therefore, in my opinion, it is not suitable for everyday use, even with a dedicated conditioner. Initially, I only used it twice a week because I was afraid to use it more often. After about a month of use, I noticed lightening of the hair, but it was natural, which I really liked. After this time, I also reduced the frequency of using the shampoo to one per week. That's enough for me. The hair does not get damaged like that, and the lightening effect lasts. For the shampoo, I also bought a hair brightening spray and a conditioner from the same company. Smells lovely. Washed my long hair with the blonde locks shampoo and then conditioned my hair with the blonde locks conditioner. I put the conditioner on and worked it through to the ends and then clipped my hair up whilst I had my shower. The conditioner was probably on for about 4-5 minutes before I started thoroughly rinsing it all off. It has left my hair lovely and soft, easy to comb through and my hair smells nice as well. The conditioner has a smooth consistency and is easy to get out of the tube as it's not too thick and is easy to rub onto your hands before putting it through your hair.Virginia N.
Smells lovely, I think the scent has changed for better since it has been introduced as to begin with i was finding it a bit masculine. Leaves the hair smooth although the conditioner is not as rich as get set grow conditioner so I do sometimes spray a bit of hair detangler. I used it because I was recovering from surgery and I wasn't able to wash my hair a regularly as I did. I developed build up in my hair. This is literally the only thing that got out old semi-permanent hair color that wouldn't budge. You would think semipermanent would wash out easily but this particular one didn't. I tried all the internet "tricks"; vitamin C powder, baking soda, other clarifying shampoos, dandruff shampoo etc. This shampoo wasn't drying or damaging either. I decided to take advantage of Coronavirus quarantine to "go natural". My hair is a dark brunette, so growing out the silver is a challenge. Taking the situation seriously, I read all the best practices to make the transition easier. The best recommendation was to use a purple toned shampoo and conditioner. I got my Okara products last week and tried them immediately. The silver taking over the top of my head is definitely brighter and shinier. The dull, faded color also looks more vibrant. Before I started using this shampoo, my hair was grey. This shampoo makes it straight-up silver. Not exaggerating. I have tried every purple shampoo on the market (high-end & drug store), & they all have one thing in common: they dry out your hair each time you use them. So you have to follow each wash with a heavy-duty conditioner. Not the case with this gem from Rene Furterer! I've used this as my only shampoo, for months at a time, and it never dries out my hair. In addition, for me it deposits just the right amount of color to make my hair look like glistening sterling silver.
