Best Shark Vacuum For High Pile Carpet (2024 Update)

First, I will say I really like Shark vacuum cleaners and this one is no exception. The vacuum came well packaged and was easy to open and assemble. The vacuum consists of 3 basic parts the floor nozzle, wand tube and the motor/dust cup. In addition, Shark now has a deodorizing cartridge for this model that you insert into the floor nozzle to keep things smelling fresh. Assembly is easy. Insert the wand into the floor nozzle and then attach the motor/dust cup to the top of the wand. It is recommended to charge the battery fully before using the first time. This process is very easy as the battery is removable and can be charged in or out of the head unit with the included charger. This new shark incorporates Clean Sense IQ which identifies when there is more dirt that needs to be picked up and can adjust the suction of the vacuum and there is a bar readout on the floor nozzle to let you know this is working. It seems to work very well. The floor nozzle uses and unique roller head that is a combination of the soft microfiber roller with rubber fins imbedded into the roller so it works very well on both hardwood floors and carpet and the way the fins are configured virtually eliminates hair tangles. I really like this new roller as I have a lot of hardwood floors. There are also built in LED headlights which is a feature I would never want to do without. The controls are mounted at the top of the unit and consist of the on/off button (you don’t have to hold a trigger) a button that allows you to adjust the suction power between ECO, Clean Sence IQ and boost. There are 2 indicator lights that show the battery level and whether or not the Sense IQ is active. The vacuum comes with 2 attachments that include a brush for cleaning things like furniture and an extendable wand for cleaning along the floor edge or reaching high places. The vacuum is light weight weighing in at a little less than 8 pounds which makes it very maneuverable and easy to handle. It is very well balanced and the head swivels easily and can be laid almost flat for reaching under low furniture and beds. The vacuum does a great job of cleaning both hardwood and carpet and I have been using it in the Sense IQ mode. It has plenty of suction power and picks up great. The dust cup is large and easy to empty. The dust cup is removable and there are two filters inside that Shark recommends you clean on a regular basis by removing them a rinsing under water only (no soap). There is also a HEPA filter in the motor head that can be cleaned. The vacuum comes with a simple 1-page Quick Start Guide that provides enough information for assembling the vacuum and some information on the controls. There is a more complete manual on the Shark website. Battery life varies depending on which suction level you use and whether you are using the floor nozzle or not. These run times seem to vary from about 10 minutes to 45 minutes. I got plenty of battery life to vacuum my house with the floor nozzle without having to re-charge the battery. One new feature on the model is the ability to remove the motor head and with a clip that is positioned low on the wand you can clip the motor head on to the wand and the vacuum will stand upright without having to rest it against a wall. There is no wall mount for this unit so this feature is very convenient. If there was one thing that would be nice to have it would be a second battery but additional batteries are available if you find that you need another one. This is our second Shark vacuum cleaner that we have gotten from Best Buy. Sadly, I had gotten the last one a little too wet and so it was making some god-awful noise. In my haste to find out why I accidentally broke a few pieces that did not need to be broken. So, it was time for a new one. Luckily it was no time when I had the opportunity for us to get this vacuum. I must say that our previous Shark was insanely more powerful…like slinging the rug across the floor power on the self-propelled wheels, but I can't really complain too terribly much because it still picks up everything that we have needed this one too. I just wish it was a tad more powerful in the self-moving wheels and the suction. If you have never had a Shark or I suppose any upright stick vacuums whether it was this one with the cordless functionality or the previous corded Shark that we had, neither of them would sit upright unless you unhooked the vacuum from the stick. Surely this could be counter-balanced by some weights in the base, but I do not want to have to do this myself when I feel it should be done from the factory. If the manufacturer can solve a) the power of the wheels and the power as far as suction, b) extend the battery life just a bit more and c) solve for the not sitting upright unless disassembled I do not think I would ever move away from the upright stick vacuum or the Shark brand ever again! I have done an extended test to test out the fragrance/odor neutralizing piece that they have on offer for this model. I can say it has lasted almost the entire month I am a few days shy, but it is still going) and that is with us having 2 pets and using it every few days in short durations. Will the fragrance pods be a gimmick like the toilet seats by a certain large company are? Or will it be here to stay? I am not sure…sadly I bought one of those toilet seats, but we ended up going with a heated one not long after (amazing if I must say so myself). Anyway, I digress. So, the vacuum and the fragrance of the pod is holding up strong so far for the better part of almost a month. I was pleasantly surprised & we are all super happy with the Shark Cordless Pro Vacuum so far in my house! All in all, though we are extremely happy & are super pleased with our new vacuum. Thank you to Shark for making such a solid vacuum-it just needs a couple minor changes (in my opinion) to go from great to perfect! The Shark Cordless Pro with Clean Sense IQ is an excellent vacuum. The latest in a line of lithium ion rechargeable upright vacuums that harken back to the original Shark vacuum. Shark has had some hallmarks that set it apart, and the Pro includes all of them and a slew of its own features that offer a unique offering. So first of all, unboxing the vacuum is easy enough. Inside the box you’ll find the main unit, charger, battery (preinstalled), main tube and vacuum head, and attachments (pet multi-tool, and crevice). Everything is packaged securely and the unit is basically good to go out of the box (after charging of course). There are a lot of little removable stickers that tell you how to exactly use different features of the vacuum. This is appreciated because Shark has so many unique features. There’s even a handy QR code on the main unit that will take you to the digital manual. This cordless vacuum builds on the construction and ideas of Shark’s previous vacuums. You get a detachable main unit and will hook on the main tube for storage. You have a bagless design with an easy to empty latch. You get a small but maneuverable vacuum head. Of course many of these ideas are evolved, honed, and refined to a large extent. For instance, the dust bin is larger, and the filter conic (compared to previous designs which seemed to get wrapped up in hair/fur more often). The battery packs are similar but different from previous models (at least the previous Duo Clean I had). The vacuum head has a load of sensors, etc. Obviously, this vacuum is attempting to appeal to a Pro-sumer (get it?). Several features of this vacuum I really like that seem to be new and unique to Shark. The first is Clean Sense IQ. This uses an infrared sensor to attempt to detect dust and adjust the power of the vacuum dynamically. It gives an indication of how ‘clean’ the floors are. Another thing unique to the vacuum head is the Odor Neutralizer cartridge, which essentially is an air freshener for your vacuum. It keeps the vacuum smelling nice and the air it spews nice as well. Power of the vacuum is interesting. The Clean Sense IQ means that on that Clean Sense setting that it’s always adjusting power to the required level. The idea here is to save battery when you’re doing maintenance cleaning, and then having the vacuum increase power when needed in dirtier areas. For the most part this does pretty well. There is an IR sensor scanning the dirt coming into the vacuum and adjusting the power. A row of LED lights will illuminate indicating the power level being applied and the idea is that it should abate as the carpet/surface is cleaned more thoroughly giving you a visual indicator if the area is clean. Of course you can override the Clean Sense IQ behavior by selecting ‘Eco’ or Boost mode. These settings change the runtime of the vacuum – which is estimated by Shark at 40 minutes in Eco mode. That’s about accurate, and you’ll get a variable amount with Clean Sense, but I was able to do a quick clean (about 3000 sq ft) on a charge. Of course a thorough cleaning would involve taking some breaks. Recharge takes over an hour, so you’ll want to plan out more through cleanings. The brush element is another interesting feature, having silicon fins and microfiber stuffed pretty much everywhere else. It seems to do a pretty good job picking up most debris I’ve thrown at it. I do seem to have trouble with larger pieces like cereal (thanks kids), but it will pick it up. I appreciate that it’s gentle on surfaces like hardwood. The crevice tool has a soft bristle brush that slides out to the edge, great for cleaning corners without leaving marks on the pain. It limits the crevice tool slightly due to it sliding back only about 6” but it shouldn’t be an issue but for those with deep cushioned couches. The pet multi tool is really just a flat brush with a removable soft bristle brush. It works pretty well on my microfiber couches without the bristle attachment. The Order Neutralizer is an interesting feature and I can’t say I've noticed a huge difference (but I have been congested, so subjectively I might be missing it). Cartridges are $15 for 2, and you only get one in the box. I appreciate the idea, but I don’t know how often I’ll be replacing it. Another great feature of this vacuum for those with allergies is the built in HEPA filter. This was hard to find, but luckily companies like Shark have listened to the market and brought .3 micron filters to the masses. The HEPA filter is important to those that suffer from dust, dander, or pollen allergies. Vacuums can exacerbate environmental allergens by picking them up and spewing them out at high speed in the air. Having an appropriate filter to capture these microscopic particles is essential. Also, the filter is washable, which is a huge convenience. Maintenance is pretty simple. After hearing about these small robot vacuums on the market and how well they work, I knew I wouldn't want just any model and so I forgot about them after awhile. Well, here comes Shark and with this vac mop, in my opinion, they really hit the nail on the head with this new technology. Set up was so easy. After it fully charged, I opened the SharkClean app and it walked me through the easy process of setting up my robot vac mop from connecting to my internet to mapping my home and then cleaning. The app even walks you through the process of setting up zones like carpeted areas. As the unit was mapping my home I read the entire manual and was impressed that the robot has what is called object detection technology and will navigate around obstacles. Sure enough, when it approached the four legged coffee table in my living room, it gracefully circled around each leg when it was cleaning row by row. After the first vacuuming, I emptied the dust bin and was amazed at how much it collected. To the naked eye, my home didn't look like it really needed much of a vacuuming, so this was an eye opening experience. I decided to wait and use the vac mop function on my wooden kitchen floor later in the day after dinner and it worked wonderfully. When cooking, my husband accidentally dropped a piece of flesh from a serrano chili and we purposely left it on the floor to see if the vac mop would be successful in picking it up and it was! I emptied the dust bin and found the small piece of chili among the many crumbs my boys are responsible for. Every few days, or when I remember, I gently wipe around the entire unit and it's base and find very few long hairs wrapped around the roller of the vacuum. I expected this, as I have very long hair and I know nothing is ever as perfect as it claims to be. Nonetheless, in my opinion, it's a very well made household necessity and I'm so very blessed to have it helping me around my home giving me more time to focus on my family. The Shark AI Robot VacMop isn’t our first robot vacuum nor robot mop, but is the first device we’ve owned that does both these operations simultaneously. I like that it is a little bit smarter than the robot vacuum we’ve been using because it supports room mapping and has laser-guided vision in addition to drop sensors and physical bumper sensors. I’ve noticed that these in combination makes it less likely to ‘bump and redirect’ than our other robots, protecting our walls and furniture from nicks and scratches and things from being knocked over. The initial setup was a mixed-bag experience. If you want to unlock all the features of the robot, you must use the accompanying smart phone app, SharkClean. This allows you to access features like scheduled cleanings, view and edit the rooms mapping, and adjusting the settings on the vacuum like eco/max suction modes. Without the app, you can still use the robot and initiate a simple cleaning cycle by pressing the 'clean' button on the unit. The main complaint I have about the app is that it requires an internet connection, and won't work if the robot and smartphone are connected to the same WiFi router without Internet access. That makes this robot impossible to use with the app if your Internet service goes down, in areas of the house without a WiFi signal, or if you don’t want the device to be online. After creating an online account and adding the robot to it, it needs to go through a couple of exploration cycles. The first maps the room and the second detects carpets and rugs for creating ‘no-go’ areas when mopping. Depending on the size and complexity of your room layout this mapping may or may not be very accurate. For example, in my home we have a fairly high transition between the dining room and the kitchen which the robot was unable to traverse. Indeed, it got stuck on the transition and was spinning its wheels for several minutes before it dislodged itself. This resulted in a map with a distorted the layout of the rooms since it continued to ‘map’ its path despite remaining in one spot. It fared much better when we physically blocked its path to areas where it could not, or we did not want it to, go. You can optionally use adhesive magnetic BotBoundary strips (sold separately) placed on your floors to create a ‘virtual wall’ that it will not cross. The robot was not able to travel our high-nap carpeted hallway, getting stuck within the first few feet and simply turning around, therefore I do not recommend it for carpeted floors. It performed best in square, enclosed rooms with few obstacles and hard flooring; the instructions are clear that you should remove objects and wires that may block its path or get stuck on prior to mapping. The map editing feature in the app was disappointingly frustrating to use to modify incorrect mappings and add missing areas, often resulting in the error ‘one of rooms will not be added to your map.’ We found it easier to simply delete the map and start the exploration cycle over; note that syncing updates to the map with the robot, including deleting the map, is surprisingly slow. Also, the robot can only store one map at a time, making it impossible to pick up and move the robot/base to another floor of the house, or even a room that’s separate from the existing map, without remapping the new area from scratch each time. Software user-friendliness aside, the actual vacuuming and mopping performance is very good, though a bit loud when running. The robot picks up a lot of dust, hair, and debris. However, the dust bin is a bit messy to empty out, oftentimes dropping a bit of its contents when detached from the main body of the robot, and fine dust clings to it readily. Though, it is completely washable in the sink under running water, including the removable dust filter tray. When mopping, coverage was about 95% efficient. Areas where we found the mop pad didn’t touch were along the perimeter of the rooms, 1 to 3 inches out from the walls and all around the dock base plate.Jrt0327

Confused, but has spirit is the best way to describe the little fellow. He's also a pain in the butt to rescue sometimes… Most times. The laser guidance and thoroughness is impressive. I have a large home with little foot traffic and it manages to sweep up a lot of dust everyday when I empty him out. It surprises me how much there is that I can't see, but it definitely makes it easier to not do it myself. He's gotten stuck a lot by accidentally closing the doors when he's in the closet or bathroom and the app is finicky with finding him. When the app does work, it reduces the 30 minute hunt… And that's if he has enough battery life to cry out for help when I ping him. It can be frustrating when he catches and drags cords or other loose or hanging items like scarves, but I would say the obstacle avoidance isn't that bad. The mopping feature is mediocre, as it just lightly mops, making me feel like I could do a better job manually. There's a lot of room for improvement, but if you chose to start with this robot for a trial period, you learn what you want over time. The house has been more lively with his antics, so I do overlook those frustrations a lot, but sadly he's not worth the price, so I will be returning him soon.Gambare

I received this vacuum for Christmas, and have been using it daily for about three months now. I really wanted to love this vacuum, but I don't. The main issue I have is with the self-cleaning brushroll: Sure it doesn't tangle, but that would require it to actually pick up fur in the first place. This vacuum adamantly refuses to pick up any fur that isn't just sitting loose on the surface of the rug…which is deeply unhelpful. The roll just wipes fur along, without doing anything to agitate the carpet. I have used the entire battery life of this vacuum on my single living room area rug, just to still need to use my rubber broom. For a vacuum that costs >$300, this is extremely disappointing, and considering the vacuum is called the "pet pro," I truly don't understand why this vacuum simply cannot handle fur in any regard. My second problem with this vacuum is that it leaks dust from every single joint and seam the entire time I'm using it. Who wants to be covered in dust from vacuuming? Not I. Additionally, the wand itself clogs constantly in a way that's very difficult to clean out. In fact, most of this vacuum is difficult to clean, outside of changing the filters. I have two cats and a lab mix who sheds like it's his mission on earth, and frankly, this vacuum just does not cut it.LindseyJoy

I've never made a purchase that I've been more disappointed in. The vacuum worked fine the first couple of times now every time is vacuum my house I have to unclog the machine from the many many many potential clog spots. I never once had this problem with our previous dyson vacuum. I have a golden retriever, so yes, having to maybe unload the vacuum is to be expected however for a product that supposedly specializes in pets, it does a TERRIBLE job. I've had to take apart the base of the bottom when that gets clogged, the shaft of the vacuum comes apart and now hair seems to get clogged making the base of the vacuum essentially worthless. I am so so so bummed and wish I would have returned this while I had the chance. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT IF YOU WANT A PRODUCT THAT ACTUALLY PICKS UP DOG HAIR.Megan

I absolutely love that it is cordless. I loved the black friday price… i think it was $159 or $179 something like that . WAY under the price for a dyson. I absolutely love it. I have 2 dogs and 1 cat all whom shed ALOT. I use this vacuum daily, several times a day and have not had any issue with the battery. Keep in mind i mentioned having a little zoo of animals, so the first month i had to take the machine apart to be able to remove clogged hair on the long stick. The instructions dont really tell you how to clean it. There is more than just emptying the basket. To avoid it getting clogged, i now try to blow out all the hair in the tubes Atleast once a week. Only negative i would mention is I wish it was a bit stronger and wish it gave an option on height. For example if there is a leaf on the floor it will not suck it in becase the vacuum in not high off the ground to pick it up. I believe the dyson is a tad stronger but its not worth paying $400, when i can just use this one for under $200. I do not regret purchasing this at all. I bought this to replace our old Dyson V6 Animal Cordless. I read many reviews videos for research. I had a Shark Navigator Pro before and I know Shark makes a good vacuum, so I was excited to try this. It seemed great. It went together easily and the crevice tool did well between the couch cushions and around the edges of the house. I liked the flexible arm that let the vacuum bend to get really far under furniture like my tables and sideboards. It was easy to empty the canister and easy to use. After using the vacuum about 30 minutes, a clog developed in the first joint where dirt from the head goes into the tube to take it up to the canister. This clog (half of which is pictured) was so big it extended from the opening of the vacuum suction hole on the bottom of the head, all the way up to where the head attached to the main long arm. After looking into the vacuum head's mechanics, I found that there are three "lock screws" on the underneath that allow you to take off the bottom guard piece to access the suction tube, which means Shark knew this was a problem and they "fixed" it by giving the consumer more work. I was able to use a cat wand toy to shove through the bottom to push the clog out the other side. This mess pictured on my couch was the result. As someone who has severe dust and environmental allergies, I don't exactly want to play with clogs of my allergens in order to get my vacuum running. I also have a large house, two long haired Siberian cats, four teenagers, and a job. The LAST THING I have time for is housework and messing around with crappy vacuums. For the price point, I'd expect this vacuum to actually work properly, and not take a ton of work to use it. The entire thing felt wobbly when fully connected and used to vacuum floors, so I didn't see the expected excellent quality of materials or workmanship for the price point either. Furthermore, as several reviewers stated the vacuum did shock me multiple times with static electricity buildup, which was annoying. Another con to this vacuum is that when I was vacuuming my couch where the cats lay, it wouldn't pick up all the cat fur regardless of how many passes I made. The suction just wasn't powerful enough, or maybe the static buildup offset the suction, gluing the cat hair to the couch in dreadlocked strands. Besides all this, the vacuum was very heavy and bulky. This thing will be going back tomorrow, and I'll be placing my order for the Dyson V11 Animal. I'd rather pay twice as much and know for a fact that my vacuum will work when I need it to, how I need it to. Save yourself the headache and don't get this Shark Vertex Cordless vacuum.MandieSue76

I purchased the Shark Vertex Cordless Stick Vacuum to use primarily to clean the floor near and around my bird cage. Every morning I let my parrot out of her cage, where she sits on the Playtop, and also on a perch mounted outside the cage. She creates quite a mess because seeds drop onto the floor, and some feathers. Getting my corded vacuum out just to cleanup around her cage was a bit of work, so I decided that a cordless vacuum would be the perfect solution. What I love about this vacuum is that it folds down for easy storage, and I can fit it in the room close by the cage. It's very easy to operate, and easy to empty the dust cup. The swivel powerhead with lights works great. It comes with several attachment tools, however, when you remove the power head to use the attachments, the suction power is not as strong. For my use, having this cordless vacuum is still the perfect solution, but I will still be using my corded vacuum for whole house cleaning.DianaNaples

I bought the Shark because I have a corded one downstairs. I needed a vacuum upstairs for my 2 floors, that was light weight and can maneuver pretty well. First off I want to say the "Shark" name is good. This cordless vacuum does not do well with pets. I have 8 cats and cat sand everywhere, the only thing it does is spit the sand out from the back, Has a very difficult time picking up fur as well. You know when you see a piece of fur and the vacuum front just has to go near it to suck it up. This vacuum does not, It just makes it tumble farther. Good for light clean ups but for every week vacuuming, I strongly recommended getting the corded one. It was more power for suction and spot clean ups if you spill rice or oats on floor. To bad because for the price you think it would be worth it. This vacuum is now on our 1st floor where there is very little traffic and pets. Perfect for a formal dinning room or front room that no ones goes in and you need a quick spruce up. Also if you have cats and cat sand, clean filter ever ytime you use it, the dust seems to bog down the performance as well.jsepulvida

I love every Shark product I've owned or gifted to someone else so had high expectations for this stick vac. I have been searching for a good robot vacuum for quite a long time since I'm unable to manage heavy vacuuming any more but none of the independent review articles give high marks to a robot that fits my needs so I turned to light stick vacs for a solution. I love this product. It meets my high expectations for a Shark and with daily 10 minute use on high traffic areas I can keep up with shedding from my medium haired cat in the carpet. The cord is long enough to cover the area and at my age, a cord doesn't bother me at all. The unit and accessories are stored in a closet without an outlet so a cordless vac isn't practical for me. If I have any criticism it's the size of the canister. One does have to take into account the reason I made this purchase, a super lightweight vac to clean cat hair from my carpet, and it makes perfect sense. I simply attach a small trash bag to carry with me in case I need to empty the canister.Shelley

Easy to carry, lightweight. I really do love this vaccum. It has pulled up a lot of dirt and hair from the carpets my rainbow couldn't pick up. I mainly have hard wood floors throughout my house now, with 1 carpeted area and a couple rugs. It's been very handy and picks up a lot. Cons: It lost suction after a year because the tube in the main basehead had cracked with normal use. Customer service could only offer to sell me the main basehead for over 75% of what I paid for the vacuum. This particular part, the tube; is not listed on Shark's website as a "wearable part" nor available. So I wonder why it is not covered by the 5 year limited warrenty? This is the main complaint I have read about that has happend to many others who also purchased the Shark Rocket. I had to do some searching for a tube replacement and we finally found one, then replaced it ourselves. If you do buy this vaccum, I would reccomend paying for extra coverage from the store purchase at as the 5 year limited warrenty is usless for this particular part and issue.Asp84

My husband bought this Shark Rocket for me in hopes of replacing my Dyson Animal with something lighter for quick, daily vacuuming, but it’s not up to the task. First of all, though the Rocket isn’t as big or as heavy as my old vacuum, all of its weight is at the top; the dust bin and motor are connected to the hand-hold, which means my wrist and hand have to support the bulk of its weight. Because the weight isn’t distributed, the small brush is unwieldy – too light to easily control regardless of how much pressure I attempt to push it with. I’m not a weakling, lol, but my arm gets tired FAST. Secondly, there is no way to turn off the roller brush and use just suction on hard surfaces. I have to move really slowly in sweeping the hardwoods, or else the Shark spits crumbs and other debris out the back. Moving slowly = holding the heavy motor/dust bin/handle for longer = even more tired hand/wrist/shoulder. Speaking of the roller brush, it clogs with dog hair and stops rolling after ONE pass over the 5×7 area rug in our seating area; I have to turn off the vacuum and cut the hair from the brush at least four times just in sweeping the one rug (we have two dogs, but I sweep every day, so I’m not asking it to vacuum a week’s worth of hair at once). It’s VERY frustrating. More negatives about this Shark Rocket: 1. It doesn’t stand on its own. If I need to stop sweeping in the middle of the job for any reason, I have to lay the vacuum on the floor, or prop it up against a piece of furniture. I still haven’t figured out how to store it. 2. The cord is also attached to the handle, and gets in the way of dumping the dust bin. 3. The attachments are difficult to use because they attach to the motor/dust bin/handle piece either directly or via a 12” hose, meaning I have to continue to hold the heaviest part of the vacuum while trying to manipulate the tools. 4. Though the brush part of the vacuum is small enough to adequately sweep the carpeted steps, I have to either lift the whole thing up, turn it backwards, and dangle the brush in front of the risers, or fight with the inconvenient and unwieldy attachments to get those areas. I’d say it takes twice as long for me to sweep using this than it does the old, clunky Dyson – definitely not making my life easier. I actually hate this vacuum, and would have returned it after the first use had my husband not thrown out the box it came on. Two hundred bucks for this useless thing.OhioMichelle

I have been waiting for a chance to try a Shark vacuum for a long time and now that I have one, I am so happy that I do. We vacuum daily because of pets and because we work outside and track a lot of dirt inside the house. The old vacuum always picked up a lot of dirt and fur everyday but it was nothing compared to what the Shark picks up. I am amazed at the suction power; when it goes across the floor it is like it has a mind of its own because the suction just takes up its own path. In that way, it can be a little difficult to steer exactly where you want it. I do love the swivel head that makes it easier to go all angles and around corners. I find the Shark to be quieter than other vacuums I've had and the light on the front allows me to see in all the corners and dark places to make sure I am cleaning where I need to. All the attachments and features are convenient but most of all I love the lift away feature because it allows me to slide the stick part of the vacuum under furniture without having to do any heavy moving and lifting. Overall, I am glad to welcome this new vacuum into my home and I feel more confident that I have a truly clean home because of it. I even joked that now we are fighting over who gets to vacuum at night because it is that great to use!Jackie89

I own a stick Shark vaccum for the upstairs hardword floor and kitchen (plus stairs) and absolutely love it, but needed a regular one for the carpets. Took a chance on this one without looking at reviews beforehand and glad I got it. It picked up so much dog hair, dust and dirt from my carpet. This is just one bedroom. Now my carpets look clean and feel so soft. The best part about this is the chamber to empty the dirt has two openings, one on bottom and one on top. With other vaccums over the years I usually had to dig my hand in to pull out the wrapped up dog hair getting my hands filthy, but this vaccum is such a breeze to empty! No more dirty hands! I own a sheltie and I still have to turn this over and yank hair out. I use the tip of a steak knife and just run it down the first roller as it gets tangled around it still. So I suggest if you have a long-haired dog just give it a quick clean after every use to keep it running properly. I ran a damp paper towel over everything as the bottom gets dusty. I was doubtful that this vacuum would live up to the hype of APEX. We have an old farmhouse, 2 Great Pyrenees, 2 kids and live off of a gravel road. The typical routine is to rake the carpet x2, vacuum x2, and then STILL see hair that was not sucked up. Both my husband and I tried this vacuum out. #1 not as loud as our old Dirt Devil (and it is old). #2 it feels like it wants to drive itself. #3 our carpet looks like I did all the previous work and very minimal hair was seen after 1 single pass. I will probably leave another review down the road, but the verdict is that we love this vacuum. Now if only we could get a shampooer with the same style of rollers.Kabaa4me

The Shark. AIROBOT ROBOT VACUUM 2000 SERIES came well packaged yet easy to unpackage and set up. Following the Quick Start Guide I Set up the docking station and charged the unit. Product instructions display setting the docking station, in a permanent location, with a strong Wi-Fi signal, against the wall, 3 feet of clear space from both sides of the docking station, and 5 feet of clear space out to the front of the docking station. It was not easy finding a space with this type of clear space in our home. I did speak with a couple of people that set their Shark Robot Vacuums up in less open space and their robot vacuums did fine. Downloading the app on my phone (android) and on a Chromebook was fast and easy. Connecting to our Wi-Fi was quick. You will have to connect using your 2.4 GHz band, 5 GHz will not work for the Shark app. Had trouble starting out with what is called “Exploring”. This is where the Shark AIROBOT explores your floor space and sets up a map for vacuuming. The app showed the vacuum was ready to start exploring however the vacuum would back off the charging unit, make a couple of circles, then return to the docking station. After allowing the AIROBOT to charge longer I attempted the exploring process and the vacuum finally backed off the docking station and began exploring. Very interesting to watch the Shark AIROBOT go through the process of exploring. I had to re-explore 3 times to get a map that I was happy with, so be patient. Raise up or remove any electrical wiring off the floor during the exploring process. The AIROBOT did get hung up on one large extension cord, I will try one of the floor cord covers. Once the vacuum has completed the exploring process it will give you the opportunity to accept the mapping or re-explore. The Shark AIROBOT did a good job vacuuming the floors. The exploring procedure is totally different from the vacuuming process. The exploring process does not take long and appears to travel all over the house erratically. When vacuuming it will take longer as it is covering the entire floor areas thoroughly and generally in a better organized manner. The ability to target rooms or specific areas is a very cool option. Open the Shark app, pick the area/zone you would prefer to vacuum, press the CLEAN button on your phone or tablet, and off goes your Shark AIROBOT vacuum to clean; you can press the CLEAN button on the top of the Shark AIROBOT vacuum also. The AIROBOT did vacuum one room a couple of times, completely, before it finally exited that room and moved on. Judging total time to vacuum our home will not be accurate for the first complete vacuuming session. Our home is 1385 sq. ft., and it took 118 minutes, with 20% battery remaining after completion, not sure if the Shark AIROBOT vacuumed the entire home and it did vacuum one room twice and I believe it missed one room. Not sure if the Shark AIROBOT finished vacuuming or went back to the docking station to re-charge. A lot of bumping into items or walls hard, hard enough to move lighter items. It will also take some time for the Shark AIROBOT to adjust and move away from objects, such as closed doors or low furniture, where it cannot access. Cleans some areas multiple times and it appears to be the same areas each vacuuming session. The spot cleaning feature is sufficient. You cannot adjust the size of the area to be spot cleaned and you cannot change the vacuum strength mode, UltraClean only. You move the approximately 7-foot square to the area you would like to spot clean. The Shark app, like many apps, has limitations, and I found some processes would not work as stated. I was attempting to merge two small areas and the app would not allow me to do so, not the end of the world, however the app should allow me to merge the two open areas, they were designated areas adjoining one and other. The area of concern is a small hallway that is broken into 3 designated areas, and I cannot merge them into one. The final mapping, that I accepted, has 10 areas. The kitchen and the laundry room came up as one zone even though there is a doorway. Part of the hallway is part of the living room zone, and the remaining part of the hallway is separated into two zones. The remainder of the rooms mapped out nicely. UPDATE: After enlarging the map on my Chromebook I was able to merge the areas I was concerned with. The AIROBOT app has a “Find Robot” feature, when pressed the vacuum will emit tones, the tones are not very loud at 100% volume. It would be a nice feature if you were able to move the docking station without having to re-map your home. I want to move the docking station however it took 4 mapping (exploring) events to get a good mapping of our home, so I chose not to move the docking station, yet. The Shark AIROBOT has 3 vacuum modes which is very nice, along with Scheduling, No-Go Zones, Go Zones, Room Select, and more. I would recommend the Shark AIROBOT 2000 series vacuum. Pros: — Great navigation skills — Comprehensive app provides lots of control — Easy setup Cons: — Weak cleaning ability — Short running time — Long charging time The success or failure of any robot vac hinges on its ability to navigate with the least amount of human assistance possible. By that measure, this new Shark AI robot vac is among the best out there. I have used three or four different devices of this type over the years this one has the potential, at least, to be the best at finding its way around your house without you doing a lot of prep work first. Those who already own one of these know what I am talking about. Older, less intelligent models could easily get lost or hung up in a wide variety of ways, ranging from getting tangled in electrical cords to simply getting boxed into some tight area, or caught up on some threshold, and not being able to figure out how to escape. Thanks to Sharks' new AI laser navigation system, which allows the vac to actually "see" obstacles as opposed to blindly bumping their way around them, this vac has a much easier time finding its way around. In fact, before you can even use it, you must turn it lose to "explore" your house first . It's really a mapping mission to give the vac a rough idea of the shape of the rooms it must vac. And where the obstacles are. The end result, hopefully, is a map that shows up in the vac's essential sidekick, the new Shark Clean app. I said "hopefully" because my vac's attempt at doing this resulted in map that looked nothing like the footprint of my home. I am not sure why, but I had more success the second time around. Once you have an accurate map, the app gives you lots of choices about what to do next. You can clean the whole house, just one room, or a combination of rooms of your choice. You can also block out "no-go" areas or designate certain areas for extra cleaning. You even tell it to spot clean a specific area. And of course you can schedule the vac run to run whenever you want. That said, the new Shark AI, is still not smart enough to just turn it loose and forget about it. Sadly, it I can still get tangled up in electric cords, and still get hung up on low obstacles (less than 2 inches high) because it cannot see them. But it is better at navigation than any other robot vac I have tried. Setup is easy too. Just pop on the two rotating "cat whiskers," put in on the charger (make sure the blue light is on to indicate it is actually charging) and download the Shark Clean app. Then follow the instructions. In actual use, I found the vac a little schizophrenic at times. It would start to clean one area, then return to an area already cleaned for no apparent reason, and then return to the first area to complete that room. Very inefficient and somewhat puzzling, given its clearly superior mapping capabilites. In the end, these vacs are only as good as the programming and it appears that this one still needs some work. Hopefully there will be future firmware updates to correct these deficiences and improve efficiency. Another big disappointment is the vac's cleaning chops, which frankly are not that good. In normal setting (default) , suction seems quite weak, with vac unable to pick up anything heavier than light debris and pet hair. It left behind objects as small as a grain of cat litter in some case, even on bare floors. You can set the vac to run at a higher power cleaning mode. But that burns more battery power, another big shortcoming. It does not run very long on a charge — about 30 minutes — so most users probably will find they have to run the vac through at least two charging cycles to do their entire home. Even worse, charging times are agonizingly slow, up to six hours per charge. (The vac does return to its charging stand automatically, when needed) As for cleanup, well there is no auto-empty function with this one (although Shark does sell some models that do that). So you must manually empty the dirt cup and clean the filter after each cycle. The filter IS washable at least so you should not have to replace it often, But Shark recommends new brushes every six to 12 months. The bottom line here is this new Shark Vac has a lot of potential that is not yet fully realized. The hardware for state of the art naviagtion is built in but the programming is still a work in progress, it appears, which leaves the vac a lot less efficient than it should be.Daytonadan

I must admit I was a bit disappointed in this newest version of the Shark Robot vacuum compared to several other Shark Robot vacuums I have owned in the past. But I've come to like it – for the most part. The most unique quality this Shark Robot has over my previous Robot vacuums is the navigation and mapping out of your home's floor plan. It took me 4 tries to get the floor plan correct – it seems to be very, very dependent on where you locate the base station. Having the base station in any kind of 'tight area' and you'll get a very small floor plan. I moved the base station to our dining room under a large wine hutch and it mapped out the floor plan much better. I also added a couple of high traffic zones which helped a lot (kitchen and entryway) The cleaning power of this Robot Vacuum is very impressive, especially when you run it in "UTLRACLEAN" mode – which does chew up the battery faster than regular "CLEAN" but it is worth it. This Robot Vacuum has a better capability than others to handle multiple floor types – we have mostly tile and wood floors, with a few chunky throw rugs and it did a fine job navigating around once the floorpan was defined well. Overall, I would recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a decently priced, relatively smart, robot vacuum. The floor plan issues were eventually solved – so give it a chance.Winger81

Top heavy, does not stand on own but must be leaned onto something to stay upright. And when you finish using on floor or up on wall/ceiling, TONS of debris falls out the bottom of the unit. I have to go get my perfectly wonderful Miele to clean up the mess this thing makes. Keeping the area in the head clean is the key to avoid this, but have to do it so often (every use) it makes cleaning up a bigger chore overall. I bought this to avoid bringing the larger Miele upstairs to use weekly for a couple rooms and thought using as a wand up in the air would be useful as I no longer feel secure standing on a chair/stool to reach upper areas. While it works to pick up dust and dirt ok, it will not pick up paperclips, small wood pellets, scraps of paper or even small amount of shredded paper after emptying the shredder into the trash. And if it manages to pick this up, it will require you to stop and clean out the head piece (remove rollers) before moving on or it will 'spit it out' again when you turn it off. Then you can pick it all up with your hands along with the other debris and dirt or go get a real vacuum and clean it up right. I will never buy a shark again.Miele is best

We have had this about 6 months Initially it was great but slowly it has lost suction and now needs replacing as it’s just not up to the job. Filter box hard to clean Most annoying thing is going from say the floorboards to the carpet or vice versa. The head leaves a collection of dust on the edge of the 2 surfaces Slowly your mats build up a line of dirt around the edges which becomes compacted. The rotating head that was initially great is also difficult to clean and the fine teeth become totally clogged and useless. It takes as long to clean this thing as it does to vacuum the floor. If it was stolen would I buy another ? NO, I normally use the old vacuum in the shed but this one’s going in the wheels binGeorge 27

It's suction power lifts years of dirt embedded in the carpets of my new rental. The head swivels with ease and allows you to reach hard to get to places, excellent for corners. The right side of the head has an edge cleaner that you can run really close to the walls. Lightweight and easy and to use, the dirt canister is easy to empty and every part of the appliance clicks into place. I've been totally satisfied and a great fan of the Shark 'Rocket' for 4 years. izmax

We've got a couple large area rugs on otherwise all terrazzo floors. Recently adopted a short double coated Aussie Shepherd Beagle mix that has now begun shedding. This vacuum works great for our situation, the smaller head being easy to maneuver around and under tables and recliners. Intermittent use up to 30min for the rugs does cause the vacuum head to get pretty hot, not where you hold it, but to the exhaust side. Being corded delivers plenty of suction power without the added battery weight of a similarly capable cordless vac. I agree with others that upright storage could have been better executed. I'd suggest Shark include some kind of wall mount to hang it up when not in use. Overall happy with the product, although the price point around $200 on sale with coupon still seems a bit high in my opinion.Kent

1 person, 1 cat household. The vacuum has good suction BUT the cat hair gets stuck around a small metal peice and doesn't make it to the bin. If you have more than 1 pet – this is NOT the best unit. 1 room = empyting the bin and removing the hair from around the metal piece. It also cannot stand alone which is highly annoying. I don't want to take the motor off and attach it to the stick so that it will be self standing. DUMB design. It gets HOTTER than a Texas summer day very quickly. You cannot find the accessories listed in the maintaince booklet online. I guess they don't exist. You can find replacement filers. This vacuum is best as a quick, pick-me up unit — not your only vacuum.Zaney

This is more of an electric broom than a vacuum cleaner. It does a great job getting under furniture and cleans well on both carpet and bare floor. I have 2 dogs so I was trying to get to hard to reach areas. It does that well with the attachments included but I wish it had a brush. However, it’s made for small areas because it needs to be emptied often (easily) because it’s quite small. It also overheated after about 30 minutes of what I guess was too much work for it. Waiting an hour to turn it back on is a bummer. It’s a bit awkward to use as the handheld part at the top is heavy. As a result it won’t stand up on it’s own. You have to lay it down. It has it’s uses but doesn’t replace my old Shark. It’s much smaller and not much lighter.Mary

This is my first robot vacuum and I’m very mixed on my opinion. On one hand, it seems to have great build quality, great suction, and cleans the room well. On the other, using this vacuum seems to be a lot more work that my primary traditional vacuum (also a Shark, which I love). The first thing that got me after opening the box was that it recommends That you have and area with 3 feet on each side of the base station, and 5 feet in front unobstructed for the permanent setup. I don’t have anywhere in my 2100 sq ft. house where that would work, and if I did, it would be a focal point of whatever room it was in. I did find a place with about half the recommended space, and it seems to be working fine, but one of my hopes for a robot vacuum was that it could be tucked away out of site behind a chair. The setup with the app was extremely easy and problem free. The vacuum does a great job of cleaning, but it takes a long time to complete the 400 square foot area I have it in. You also need to have the lights on when it runs. I have kids who tend to leave toys around, or even may enter the room and drop something during the 45 minutes it takes to complete the room. You need to make sure the room is completely free of obstructions, because it will just drive right over things like board games or cars if they are left out. It does do a good job of getting unstuck if it gets hung up on something. I really wanted to love this device, but I find it is just so much easier and convenient to use my regular vacuum that takes up 1’x1’ in the closet and can finish the whole room in 1/10th the time.Jlschle

I purchased this Shark EZ Robot vacuum during the Black Friday promotion. Wal-Mart offered a great price, and it had features I was excited to try, as this is my first purchase of a robot vacuum. I’ll begin my review with the good features: the vacuum does vacuum in straight rows. The suction/ cleaning ability seems overall pretty good on its first cleaning run in my home today. It’s not too noisy, which is a nice feature. And now, the negative features: the battery life on this Shark EZ Robot is terrible. I’m uncertain if I got a bad unit, or if this is common with this brand. And today is the first day of use after charging for 24 hours. I purchased this Shark EZ Robot vacuum for the 2nd floor of my home, and after vacuuming three bedrooms (closets closed) the unit went back to recharge on its base, and it’s having trouble coming up to full charge. When it tells me it’s “ready to clean” it just goes back and re-vacuums the main bedroom the unit is stored in, and then needs additional time for charging. Basically, I set a cleaning time of 1 pm today- it’s now 7:35 pm, and the master bedroom and half the hallway haven’t been vacuumed- due to poor battery life and the unit re-vacuuming the room it’s stored in, rather than beginning at the point it stopped, and finishing the “clean.” Super, super frustrating. My honest opinion would be to avoid this unit unless you have a very small area that this vacuum cleans before needing to travel back to its base to re-charge. I was so very excited to own this, but will be returning to the store.TeenBoyMom

The Self Empty Shark Ez Robot is very useful. I love that I am now a little at ease about crumbs being everywhere and happy I have a good strong Robot to help me in my cleaning needs. I am a person if I see crumbs it bugs me and I need them picked up and I always feel like when I sweep the little crumbs are still left behind. This Robot is so helpful and strong pick up in this case. There's good Suction and you are allowed to choose a strength level I do normal and max mostly if I just swept then I may just do a simple sweep with the robot. So the Max is good suction and I find it better on carpet and the floors when you haven't swept it does good on max to get the good pick up. Normal strength I do if I swept in the day and want a clean up or just in a normal situation it does great. I also have pets and so little crumbs with there food happens and even small dust of cat littler. The robot did great on pick up. I love the fact that it has a 30 day small bucket system before I need to empty saves me time. I was actually really shocked when I did empty the bucket I think I do a pretty good job sweeping and mopping, but I got lots of the dust and debris and hair pick up from the robot vacuum. I was shocked because I have 2 cats and it still did nicely on picking up everything in general. This Vacuum is easy to use and the App is great as I can do everything on my phone and customise it how I want. On the App you can do many things and see history and reports and time it how you want it to run. You can even do a schedule which is great for all situations a busy person or simple just a regular routine. This ez robot vacuum is so easy to maintenance and understand its great. Good owners guide and fast quick start guide. Simple to get started and easy to empty. I am in love with my little helper and it really does help us people who really need a clean space or comfort in knowing the floors are clean. Okay I have literally been vacuuming the last 4 hours with 3 dogs shedding and the Kirby not doing its job correctly the house was bad! I literally vacuumed everything I could. 1st the Couch 5stars the attachments and easy amazing! 2nd the stairs again 5stars the way you can use the vacuum head while Removing the center polls making it short was a game changer! I then vacuumed my bed before adding the poll back! Then I went to the floors. I love how it goes from carpet to hard floors with the touch of a button and the way the long poll has the under furniture button that folds the poll the opposite direction, again game changer! I loved not having to get on my hands and knees to vacuum the dog hair trapped under the different furniture pieces! The soft bristles on the vacuum head didn't clog one time from the dog hair so it's came to self clean the rolling bristles is legit! Now here is the parts I didn't like, on carpet it has where you can change to suction power, that I like however everytime you stop it to pick something up on move something and start it back you have to reset everything. The attachments attach to the long post in one spot and it gets in the way in my opinion i would like them better in a lower position away from the handle but that prevents the under furniture function. I had to empty the tank 3 times so I would like a larger dirt tank. Overall I would say if your house is like mine and more hardwoods and tile flooring than carpet I say. 5 stars overall and do it! If your home is mostly carpet and not much hardwoods or tiles I would say the Shark upright vacuums would be better for you!Ashley

My Shark canister vacuum was a Christmas gift. We have a Shark lift away upright; which I love but I wanted a canister vacuum to be able to clean everything from one room to the next. Unfortunately, thus one just doesn’t do the task for me. I cannot go very far with this vacuum as it tips over while trying to get to the attachments or if you are trying to vacuum from the floor the hose isn’t very bling or an addition metal hide attachment is needed. I like to vacuum my drapes, window shades and window seals and furniture. If I try to reach my curtains the entire canister lifts up which makes it difficult for me to get my chores done. I also do not like the attachments being attached on the outside as they get In the way and fall off. The canister unit needs to have a self storing compartment under the lid for additional attachments. The beater bar unit needs to be able to stand up by itself without falling over. I must definitely would love Shark to have a model canister that I can use from one room to the next with just a switch of attachments. Including a separate floor attachment for hard floors along with the crevice and small wand for furniture would be awesome. An additional metal wand that would extend so I could reach my ceiling fans and drapes would be amazing. Having a detachable beater bar unit along with the separate hard floor attachment would ever so helpful and will save on the beater bar unit getting dirty from kitchen and bathroom floors. If you could take these added features with the awesome cleaning power of the Shark; you would have a winning machine. I hope these suggestions will be welcomed by your designing department. I have been using sharks for the past 10 – 12 yrs now. I still have my original one I bought which was the shark rotator with the caddy turning it from upright to canister. We have always had 4-5 big dogs and a Himalayan cat. All long haired dogs from golden retrievers to Berne's mountain dogs and had a dycon that didn’t even pick all that hair up. That is what led me to try the shark and I was sold every since. Then I got the stick for when I’m in a hurry and want a quick vacuuming and decided to really invest and I love my canisters. I have both hard wood floors and carpet so need it to do both very very well. This is my 3rd and I absolutely love it. Worth every penny. It has suction like no other, the cup holds a lot of hair and dirt, I can do the stairs which has carpet on them, the hose is plenty long enough and the canister doesn’t flip over and cleans up easily. I’ll never get another kind of vacuum again.Michele

I purchased this vacuum to assist me with maintaining my home. It first took a couple of times to get an accurate map of my home. I have approx. 1500 sq ft of floor to clean. The first problem I had was the Shark would get lost attempting to get back to the charging station. Secondly the vacuum could not clean in only one charge and when it did find its way back to the charging station it took several hours to recharge. Afterwards it would return to where it left off and continue cleaning, however the problem here is if it didn't finish the job the second time it would return to its charging station but would not return to the point it left off after charging for a third run. The unit would miss some rooms completely on a one scheduled run but find the room on another scheduled run days later but in the process miss a different room. Software wouldn't always produce a map of where the vacuum had cleaned. Emptying the dust bin is somewhat of a challenge as well. There is a flange that covers half of the filter screen on the inside of the dust bin. I found it difficult to clean the screen with this flange in place. Need to remove the flange to clean or shark needs to provide a small brush that will fit between the flange and the screen for cleaning. The vacuum ability to clean did seem to work well but this is not a unit you can turn on and then leave without supervision.Will

I bought this a year ago and barely got it to work once. It did not clean well. It doesn't get up against the wall. It doesn't "see" table legs so it constantly runs into furniture. I have Queen Anne style furniture with the feet on the end of the legs. It doesn't see the feet and runs right over them. Occasionally it gets stuck on them. The last time I used it, it kept getting stuck and thought something was underneath the robot. After that, it quit charging. I had called Shark after the first use and they wouldn't help me without installing the app on my cell phone. Sorry, but I don't want to have to use an app to run my vacuum. Life got in the way and I didn't get them called back until 1 week after the warranty expired. They did some troubleshooting and finally said I just need a new vacuum and they refuse to replace it. I won't be getting a Shark for sure. They used to be a good company but not anymore. Don't waste your money on this unit. I paid less than $200 for it and it was not worth it.Susan

The Shark AI Robot Vacuum is a valuable timesaving device, I absolutely love it! My only experience with a robot vacuum was an inferior product that my parents had years ago. They quit using it after a month because it was loud and would ping pong around their furniture, never fully cleaning a entire room. Needless to say, I was skeptical about the effectiveness of this piece of equipment, but I have been happily surprised and impressed by my new favorite home cleaning addition. Set up was pretty straightforward and it didn't take long to implement the room mapping technology. The laser vision and IQ navigation combine to react and respond to your home's layout. It's amazing how well it follows patterns and cleans in a precise manner while navigating around obstacles, no-go zones, and cliff hazards (such as my stairs). It's fun to watch it self-correct and get back on task if there's something left in it's path. The suction is powerful, yet isn't overly noisy; I'm able to go about my routine without being disturbed. The brush roll is self-cleaning, which is a huge plus as someone with very long hair. In the past, my hair would get tangled around my rollers and it was a tedious process of taking breaks in my cleaning process to cut it away. This is awesome because it eliminates the dreaded hair wrap. Most impressive is the level of cleaning it achieves. I was shocked at the amount of debris it removed from my floors and was kinda grossed-out at what my previous vacuum left behind. I've been considering getting new carpet in two of my rooms, but this Shark miracle restored them to a beautiful appearance I didn't think was possible. Let me start this review by saying that I have purchased and used a lot of vacuums in my day. For the last couple of years I’ve been using the Shark Vertex Powered lift away. I love that machine, but still missed having a canister. I had been seeing the Shark Canister Pet vacuum advertised on line and a couple days ago decided to purchase, and I’m so glad I did. The first thing I noticed when trying it out for the first time was how powerful it is. The suction power is unbelievable. I also love that it has 3 speeds of suction power. The beater brush has two speeds. Low and high. High is recommended for carpet while low is recommended for hardwood floors. The power head has fins mixed with bristles and does an excellent job at removing dust and dirt from floors. My favorite thing about this vacuum is how lightweight it is. I literally can pick the canister up by its handle with one finger. The controls for this vacuum are conveniently located on the handle. This particular canister vacuum comes with two attachments. A decent sized crevice tool and a nice upholstery tool. The power head comes with the unit as well. I tried my attachments from my vertex lift away and they fit and work with the canister! The canister glides on 4 caster wheels and moves great. It also has a 25 ft retractable cord. The Shark Canister Pet is a high quality vacuum that’s lightweight and easy to maneuver. I give this vacuum an A+! In my humble opinion Shark makes the best household vacuums on the market today! I truly love all three of my Shark vacuums, and wouldn’t want any other vacuum! This is my first canister vacuum. I can't say how it compares to other canisters but it's an amazing vacuum. This vacuum has incredible suction. Far better suction than any other vacuum I have owned. I am actually quite shocked at how much this can pick up. I have cats so I needed a good vacuum to pick up all of the hair in my home. It has easy to use buttons on the handle for changing the suction level or cleaning modes. The MultiFLEX is a great addition and allows for easy cleaning under furniture. The no hair wrap brushroll is a lifesaver! I hated having to cut hair from the roller on my other vacuums. I get so much hair caught on those and this one never gets hair stuck on it. It's easy to empty and holds more than my other vacuums so I can make less trips to empty it. The wand is extremely long and can reach further than any other wand I have used, making it great for getting up high near ceilings. The attachments work well for crevices and removing pet hair from furniture. There are super bright LED lights so I can see if I am missing anything while I vacuum. This can be used with the canister wheeled on the ground or carried. It is lightweight and easy to carry up stairs or around furniture. The wheels work well to pull across the floor as well. It isn't as maneuverable as a standard upright and works best in open spaces unless the canister is being carried. It's just what comes with using a canister compared to an upright. I have been using this shark bagless pet pro canister vacuum for some time now. With 3 pets who shed nonstop I'm always in the market for the greatest and newest vacuums available to help me keep the hair down and the allergies away. The vacuum has a great section not just using the hand tools but also in the floor roller itself. As someone with long hair one of my greatest battles is trying to get mine off the roller using my old vacuums didn't matter style or brand. This bagless canister vacuum also comes equipped with self cleaning paddles leaving me more time to get other things accomplished. Let's just say I was astonished at how much was pulled from my rugs when I regularly vacuum weekly sometimes 2 to 3 times. One of the better features that I've seen on it that's not mentioned is it actually runs more quiet than other vacuums I have used. The hand tools are great the only thing that I seem to have an issue with is the awkward positioning of the tubing maybe if it was a bit thinner a bit longer it would be easier but sometimes when you're walking around it'll flip the vacuum itself and turn itself off because it has 2 different ways to power it on and off. I do appreciate the actual hand tool or hand grip having its own power button and also button and also being able to choose from the hand tool whether it's hardwood floors or carpeting forces having to use a foot to change the setting. There's nothing about this vacuum to dislike. I have a Shark at home, and liked it so much I bought one for our church. So when I needed to purchase one for our office (to replace an industrial one that's too heavy to use) it was a no-brainer… buy another Shark. Each time I get one, they have upgraded them, and I love them even more. They are so easy to use, lightweight, so many gadgets that it "almost" makes vacuuming fun. I had my original Shark Rotator for over 6 years, of hard use! When the hose cracked I was going to replace the hose but the cost was crazy, making the purchase of a new one more cost effective. I received the new one today and I was impressed by the improvements, the base, the floor cleaner and all great attachments. But the one thing is the power and the amount of dirt and stuff it got out of a seemingly clean carpet! I highly recommend this unit to anyone as it is far superior to ANY vacuum out there!Tim60

This is the second Shark vacuum that I have purchased, and (even though I didn't think it was possible) I love it even more than my first one! The suction on this thing is unbelievable, like seriously, watch out for blankets and curtains 😂😬😒. they designed this making it SUPER easy to clean and even MORE easy to empty. The entire canister lifts right off with just a press on the handle latch which makes it extra simple and convenient if to carry to a garbage. The two filters are WASHABLE and REUSABLE… Yep, reusable, meaning no more searching for and buying those expensive replacements!! Same filters… used over and over and over. Just make sure you allow them to dry completely before putting them back and using the vacuum. We have never needed to purchase new ones! This vacuum, price wise, was quite a bit more than my first Shark… however, it's much less than some other high-end brands, and I'm almost certain that it works much better than all of the competition!. So impressed. I am not paid or given a free bot for this review. I researched for 4 months and settled on this model by Shark. I don't know why people are claiming that this robot marks walls it comes close but does not touch them in fact if it sees a object it slows down till it maneuvers around it. Everything advertised it does and does excellent. The app is very easy to use. People complain about the app but I think they are using cheap phones or tablets. I honestly have nothing negative to say about this unit, I watched tests between roombas and eufys and all the the robot vacuums that could self empty at twice to three times the shark was nothing is close. The main thing was all the other company's use Vslam and cameras for guidance they can not see in the dark and basically go in random action like a bump and go toy, Not this Shark that uses lidar which is a invisible rotating Laser for guidance it is perfect and works even in the dark. I had to laugh roombas latest self empty has a white spotlight led mounted above its camera so it can clean without bright sun or the lights on. So you can pay 1400.00 for the vslam spotlight robot or 500.00 for the shark and have 3yr vip warranty with latest tech and row by row cleaning, and individual room cleaning. I also want to point out that after it does a room row by row when it finishes that it goes all the way back around the border of that room. Suction power is excellent on max, but you can choose between eco, norm and max in the app. You can choose to have it go back to empty every 30 minutes and it will go right back where it left off. I never have had it not find the base or had to go find it. I know it can be frustrating when trying to decide on which robot vacuum to buy. One Year since purchase of our RV1101 (the 2502's previous generation model). I am completely satisfied with our Shark AI self emptying vacuum! 2 Labradors and a cat in our 2400sq foot home ensure that it has plenty of hair and dirt to contend with and it accomplishes its duties admirably. While the literature indicates "Up to 30 days" between emptying the base dirt receptacle, under these conditions that is a ridiculous expectation! Empty it daily until you determine for yourself how long it takes to fill it based on your actual home cleaning requirements if you have pet's in your home! That said, this is an incredibly good tool for keeping a home as clean as possible when shedding dogs are a part of your life. Other than emptying the dust bin every 1-2 days, it only requires washing the foam base filter once weekly and thoroughly cleaning the robot and base including vacuuming out the filters every 2-4 weeks. A truly minimal amount of time and effort required for a remarkable result. Getting "stuck" is a very rare occurrence if you follow the instructions for preparing your home. The "Empty and Resume" and "Recharge and Resume" features are what enable the Shark robot to accomplish it's duties in a home this size, Every day it's full cycle runs for over 4 hours to fully clean our home including 4 clean and dump cycles and a full recharge cycle (2 hours) after the 2nd dump following the first hour of operation. This includes the time it spends "Going Back" to clean any area where it expects to clean but may have been prevented from doing so on it's first attempt due to being obstructed by frequently moved furniture or a lazy old dog that refuses to move for "that pesky robot" (yes the old dog will just lay there despite being bumped repeatedly). As soon as I received the Shark AI Robot Vacuum I wanted to set it up immediately in our open concept kitchen, dining and living area. All laminate flooring. I thought that the set-up might be a bit complicated for me but Shark has made the set-up and operation of this vacuum very user freindly. Even before opening the box, I was able to take my smart phone and scan the QRCode on the outside of the box and download the app. Step by step instructions guide you through the vaccum set-up process. (The most complicated task I had to do was go to my internet provider's app and enable the 2.4Ghz setting on our router, which is required for the Wifi connection) The set-up process includes sending the robot vacuum out for a mapping of the area to be cleaned. I was amazed that after just about 10 minutes the entire area was mapped out. Afterwards, I went to the app to look at the map and saw an accurate representation of my rooms, down to the footprint of a column seperating the rooms. The schedule tool allows for scheduling the vacuum to run whatever time, whatever day and however many days a week. It also records a history of those past scheduled cleanings and represents on the map the areas cleaned. I am definitely using the Ultraclean feature of the vacuum. This feature enables highlighting on the map, heavy traffic areas, or in our case the areas of the floor in front of the sink, around the island and the area in front of the stairs. The vacuum spends extra time cleaning these areas during the scheduled cleanings. I have also taken advantage of the spot cleaning feature. This feature enables you to highlight a spot on the map and have the vaccum clean only that spot without the vacuum doing an entire cleaning. After any cleaning that vacuum performs , the vacuum returns to the self empty base. Quite honestly, this Shark robot vacuum has too many features to list here in my review. The technology packed into this vacuum is amazing. Shark has developed an app that has all the support anyone could need. There is a printed instruction manual for viewing, there are seven videos available for viewing and there is the Shark Customer Care support available by phone. THE BREAKDOWN: This Bissell Upright Shark Rotator Lift-Away Upright vacuum with PowerFins and self-cleaning brush rolls hits a lot of the targets you want in a vacuum. This vacuum is very flexible if you have a home that has many different flooring types. I personally have 90 percent hardwood and 10 percent carpet with 2 dogs. Overall, this product performed very well on all surfaces. It is lightweight and has options for maneuverability. Right out of the box it was simple and easy to use. The setup was very simple and fast. I have used this vacuum extensively on carpet and hardwood floors. I found that the vacuum performed very well. The light design made this vacuum easy to use. I have one rug that has a long napp and the vacuum performed well. The vacuum hose seems cheap and not very flexible like I am used to. The lights are one of my favorite features of this vacuum. You do not know how much hair and dirt are on your floor until you see it with the lights on this vacuum. I was surprised the first time I used this machine. Emptying the canister could have been thought out a little more in my opinion as you have the top button to remove it from the machine and then to dump you have to push the button on the bottom of the canister getting dust and debris on you sometimes. I think the button to dump should be the one that releases it from the vacuum itself. The noise level is average as far as vacuums go. I didn’t really notice that it was louder or quieter than previous vacuums that I had owned. One last thing to mention is the power cord. The upper cord racking arm is on the wand, and I found this to make the wand too wide to use in small places. The cord is not as long as I like, and it is made of stiff like material and is not very malleable. That is just a personal preference. My journey with Shark vacuums started in 2002 with a small canister type that was used until the wheel broke off and couldn't be replaced. In 2014 I purchased the Shark Navigator NV355 Series. I thought it was amazing and used it until I had to hold it together with duct tape rendering the lift-away feature useless. I gave it to my son knowing that it wouldn't be used as much and would work fine for him. I decided to upgrade to the Shark Rotator NV680 in 2017 and was totally pleased with its performance. I didn't even mind periodically having to cut my long hair and sewing threads away from the brushroll because the suction and overall performance were so great. In early 2022 I noticed that the bristles had worn totally away on the brushroll and I looked for the replacement part which was unavailable and has not been available for the remainder of this year. I purchased the Shark Rotator ZD402 Series a few weeks ago and I am keeping it only because it has a working, self-cleaning brushroll. Rather than having been improved over the NV680 series, it has been downgraded to be more like the Navigator NV355 in the following areas: 1. The power cord is 5 feet shorter and length matters when vacuuming. 2. The crevice and upholstery attachments are subpar. Fortunately, the better ones from the NV680 interchange. 3. The machine feels very loosely made and not as substantial as the NV680 Rotator. 4. The hard surface to carpet switch has been removed from the handle for convenient thumb operation to the top of the unit. Why? Why? As you seem to have no trouble inundating my e-mail inbox with ads and offers, PLEASE, Please, please let me know as soon as there is a replacement power brushroll available for the Shark Rotator NV680 Series. I would gladly put that vacuum back to work in my home.janellred

This is the second time I've bought this precise model. I first bought it in 2015 and was so impressed that I've urged my friends to replace their vac with this. I'm a large man and clean often (I like a spotless home) and quickly (yech, it's boring!), so this machine gets heavy-duty use. The design folks thought of everything, including a nice, long cord. It cleans like a champ, too. Why did it last only 5 years? Well, I didn't abuse it, but as I said, it gets used often. And it has a weak spot. The hose simply split near the handle. I super-taped it, but then it split again, right where it goes into the handle itself. Tape wasn't gonna do it. I didn't think I could fix it, and a replacement handle-hose part cost a chunk of change, so after I found a nice deal on Ebay, I simply ordered a whole new vac. THEN I fixed my original vac (found a video online). So, now I have two. But see, that hose is an obvious wear-and-tear point, and Shark's engineers should have fortified it. I'm guessing that doing so would've added maybe $3 to its manufacturing cost. So do it! And when that's done, I'll come back here and give it 5 stars. Otherwise, I'm glad some smart people applied themselves when they designed this machine.chrisdesmond

After using for a month, I'm very impressed with the performance of this model. There's lots to like! While the suction is really good, what functions better than other brands is that the brush roll allows frontal pickup. I've used other vacuum cleaners where the pickup is very limited because they mainly suction from one end of the head. This Shark picks up well from all directions, which i really like! The motor is fairly quiet, not overly noisy. Although not as light as some other Shark models, it's not too heavy either. The dust capacity is great, and the swivel feature and lights on the head are helpful. This machine does just about everything I want it to. The one drawback is that due to the larger dust canister, it does not flatten really well to reach very far under a chair, for example. There is a separate attachment for that, but it does take time and effort to switch. Nonetheless, this Shark is a great model! The designers thought of most everything, including a place on the hose intake, where a large object, such as one vacuumed by mistake, can be removed easily. I wish the cord were longer, but I've added my own extension. If the motor lasts a long time, I'll be enjoying vacuuming with this one a lot!verity-rose

This Shark was bought for our winter place because we were very pleased with the previously purchased unit at home. Still very satisfied. It came with three cleaning tools but only places on the vac for two. However, I used a small 5-6 inch pipe, taped the edges and slipped it into the top of the small tool on the vac. The third tool fits over the pipe and then I have all three tools as needed. The rotator brush is fantastic on carpet and the suction is MUCH better than the old vac. I am on the third vacuum of this sort within two years. I thought the first was faulty so I gave it a chance, the second stopped working after fur months and this one is the last straw. If you have carpets and vacuum once a day it gest so irritaed, the thing gets filled so fast and not only it is a very small capacity but the convoluted channels of the canister make it clog so even if you have quarter full i twill hiss and paff but zero suction and no cleaning, the brush will just trhrow the dirt all around the room behind the vacuum cleaner. How come they can not design such a simple machine that would actually Suck the dirt and do it without any problems? That hissing sound that will kick in sounds like one angry vacuum. You take it aparat, you look into all hoses, all crevices, the canister and then again check everything. you plug it back conect. .and hiss is still there. I am so fed up with this vacuum. Not only it is SUPER HEAVY for such a small thing and inferior suction and so noisy but it does lousy job. HOw difficult is to make a user friendly vacuum so a lady would not need to break back doing house work and could do it without constant problems.Cola

Love this vacuum! Even though the brush area is a lot smaller than what I'm used to and therefore takes longer to clean the house, I have no complaints about it. Does an excellent job of getting the cat hair, people hair, dust and dirt out of the carpet. The transition from carpet and bare floors couldn't be easier also. The attachments do as they're suppose to and the versatility of this vacuum is much better than any I've owned before. Filter is washable, which is great. Means I don't have to pay for an over priced one. Just wash it out, dry it and pop it back in. Canister design could have been a little better though. Stuff get's hung up near the top on a piece of plastic. Every time I empty it I have to get a screwdriver out to knock it down so I can empty the canister completely. Thank goodness the top and bottom open so I can do this. No complaints other than that though. I would buy another Shark without hesitation and when this one dies on me will be doing such. Seller wasn't Wal-mart even though ordered on their website. I knew this when ordering but I don't recall it being advertised as refurbished and not brand new. I’ve used MANY vacuums in my life. I’ve used Eureka, Kirby, Bissell, Oreck, Hoover, and several others. This is by far the BEST vacuum. The attachments make sense and are very practical. The vacuum pulls lots of dirt out of the carpet that other vacuums cannot do. I vacuumed my carpet with a Bissell. Afterwards, I vacuumed again with my Shark, the Shark continued to pull lots of dust out of the carpet. I am amazed at the quality. Considering the quality, the price is good!kasi.s

It was time for another vacuum. We bought this thinking it would be a great buy. From the first time using it, there is barely any suction to it and hair gets caught on the roller. We try to vacuum everyday, but having to cut hair out of this thing is a hassle. I have looked the carpet over looking for if maybe there is a sticky spot for a reason on why it's not sucking things up. Carpet is fine. Cannot take this vacuum back due to losing the receipt. I got this vacuum as a gift and I was so excited because i heard great things about it. One of my most important part of cleaning is vacuuming my carpet!! I live in a rural area.. On a farm! So we track in a lot of stuff from outside. This vacuum worked great at first.. Then the brush roller completely stopped working. It just flings dirt everywhere! I called to see about getting it replaced and they said its not covered under the warranty!! What?!? I got this vacuum after my roommate broke mine and didn't replace it (I didn't let him touch my stuff after that). I did some research on what I wanted since I didn't want to be wasting money on something that wouldn't last, and decided this was a great option. I have a dog, and although she doesn't shed much I wanted something to help filter out allergens and the like. This thing does a great job. It has amazing suction and picks up everything. I bought filters separately from Amazon because they're super hard to come by in stores, but they are inexpensive. I now live with my boyfriend, and he also has a dog, so I am vacuuming every other day. This keeps up with the messes since our dogs think that dropping food outside of the bowl is humorous. They say you've reached true adulthood when you can say that you love a vacuum, and I've found the one 🤣victoria.l

For starters I do love the Vertex power. I have the shark Apex the power is good also but I found this one seems to pick up more fine dirt from the carpet. I'm missing the pet power tool for cleaning my furniture. This one does not come with it. it comes with a standard furniture tool. There is nothing like the powered tool for cleaning pet hair off couches… If you want to get the powered tool you will pay more for the Vertex with those options. I thought I was getting a good sale price after Christmas and Walmarts web site was not very helpful. it gave very little information. One last thing I miss the shark Apex has a light on the Handel, so when your cleaning with your tools you can see what your cleaning in dark corners. my bedroom is not well lit and I couldn't see what was cleaning. I'm temped to return it and get another shark apex Just for that reason, very disappointed. This is our 3rd shark (others are still working just wanted one in a different house) The first one is old now, a navigator professional lift off and my personal favourite, but the brush keeps getting filled with hair. The second is a newer pet version with a self cleaning brush, and although it is nice, it has a loud high pitch vortex whine to it that is overwhelming and a small debris collector. This one (Vertex) is like both of those together and then some. It is a suction monster with a self cleaning brush roller, quite, like the navigator and goes easily from carpet to wood floors. Not liking the small collector on this one either, but it holds slightly more than the pet shark version. Over all this is a great unit, but penny for pound I feel the navigator lift off is still my favourite shark so far.imoJafo

Really had some high hopes for this Vacuum, hence the sad face. Suction is decent, but it is really a fuss to handle. When you take the attachment off the base has no weight, so it falls over if you do not hold it at all times, that's including taking off the basic hand hose. The hose is very stiff, so not much give when you're trying to move the handle around nooks and crannies. Which brings me to the handle. Though fantastic for reaching high areas, that thing has some weight when having to hold it at the end. Also the on/off switch is right where you hold it. Handy if you need to turn it off in a hurry, but being heavier, I'm manhandling that button. Smaller container, but easy to clean out. Roller does seem to pick up pretty well on hard wood and carpet, but it has frozen a couple of times and I've only used it 4 times. Not ideal for an issue right out the gate, that is not covered by warranty. That's a big red flag. And my lord, I've never had a vacuum blow so much exhaust air. Dang fight for my life when I bent over to pick up a toy. Sad faceStephanie
