Having sworn off electric razors about 20 years ago I was a little sceptical when I was asked by my wife to trial this one. The packaging is attractive and inspires a feeling of quality, not too gaudy. Unboxing was a breeze for the actual razor, however the shrink wrapped cord defied all attempts to open without the help of cold steel. The razor feels solid in hand, with the product exuding a well built feel . In use, the unit is not too noisy or vibrate too much, the weight in your hand actually helps with the accuracy of the razor allowing you to feel the contours and regulate the pressure applied. It is refreshing to find that the actual shave itself lives up to the quality feel of the unit. 5 mins maximum for a tidy up, and I was taking my time. For me the failing of most electric shavers has been my chin and adam's apple, they never seem to cut the mustard but I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance of this unit. My partner was thrilled when he opened the box and discovered that his new shaver was red – something which surprised me a little! he instructions were clear and concise & it didn't take him long to get it plugged in and ready to go. Since this charges either with or without the charging station, my partner plugged the cable directly into the shaver for it's first use. The light indicators were very helpful! My partner found this very easy to hold whilst shaving and said that it didn't drag or stretch the skin the way his last shaver did. This tackled the stubble well but still left a few long hairs down towards his adams apple and his jawline where he said it was a bit difficult to get the shaver exactly where he wanted it. The rest of his face shaved well and was much smoother than normal indicating that although a few were left, this gave a closer shave than usual. I have always used a rotary shaver. I bought a Remington rotary shaver 15 years ago, it gave me an excellent close shave. About 6 months ago it gave up on me, so I decided to buy another rotary shaver. I bought 4 costing between 30 and 90 pounds, not at the same time I hasten to add. Each one was disapointing, varying from a useless shave to plucking the hairs out. The 90 one was a smooth shave but not a close one. So I decided on a foil shaver and this one ticked all the boxes. This Electric razor is for "men" but I am a woman and used it on my legs and it worked fantastically!!! As a woman it is difficult to find an Electric razor that works like it should. I received this as a free trial from pinchme and I was a skeptic… but after trying it I have to say I shaved my legs with complete ease! Of all the Shavers I have owned over the years, this Braun Series 8 model 8330S is by far the worst of the last 30 years. It drags over the face when shaving and is uncomfortable to use. It is clunky and noisy and sounds as if parts are loose. The foil release is difficult to use and seems to be out of adjustment. It takes several attempts to get the foil out and back in. I have a Braun Series 5 shaver which is superior to this Series 8. I plan to return this shaver because it is either a defective product or because it is does not perform as claimed. I received this Braun Electric Razor for Men, Series 8 8417s Electric Foil Shaver with Precision Beard Trimmer for free from PinchMe. As a lifelong wet shaver, I am very impressed with this electric shaver. I’ve been using it for over a week now and the most amazing thing is that I did not get a razor burn at all. The trimmers and foils are very sensitive and engineered to adopt to your face contours and beard type as you shave. I got more than a week’s shaves on a single charge, so battery life is also pretty good. It feels light, yet powerful in your hand. The design is very sleek and comes with a lean travel case which is very convenient. I tried both dry and wet shaving (even with a brush and foam). Pros – Excellent razor. Closest shave I have ever had. Fast and easy shave due to excellent blades. Cons – Requires a bit of maintenance. You need to run the “cleaning program” every day (personally I do it every other day). Some water and a cleaning solution shoots up into the case and cleans the razor once activated (1 pack of solution is provided for one month – available on Amazon sold as a pack for a reasonable price). This seemed like a bit of a pain at first, especially changing the solution every month, but the razor looks brand new and is working like it was just out of box many months later, so I think it’s worth it. Note – the first ten minutes of the cleaning process are VERY NOISY. The last 60 or so of the drying process aren’t too bad. Don’t expect to clean this razor before you head off to work if your partner is within 25 yards. It’s like waking up to someone vacuuming your pillow.Kayak4

The Panasonic Arc 5 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver with Self-cleaning recharger is outstanding. I've used safety razors for years and decided to try and electric. The Panasonic was the best choice!! If you've been using blades it takes around a month for your face to adapt to an electric but after that time using the electric is great!! Especially with the Self-cleaning recharger. It keeps your razor clean and charged so you always get a great shave. Be sure you read all the instructions so you can get the most from your razor.Steve

I have been using this shaver for 2 years now primarily for bald head shaving. I have also found it very useful for neck shaving since I have a heard. The pop up trimmer is very sharp and precise. I use the pop up trimmer just above my top lip to straighten out my beard. This pop up trimmer is my go-to for precise trimmer when I need it as it is sharper than my other beard trimmers. This trimmer is very powerful, long battery life and my favourite part is the cleaning station. All you have to do after a shave is use a brush to remove the hair from the cutting blades, then drop it in the cleaning station and walk away… Excellent. I had a problem with the cleaning station and I was near the 2 year exchange warranty. I highly recommend contacting panasonic directly for this. I contacted best buy and they maintained it's only a 1 year warranty. It is NOT, it's definitely a 2 year warranty. They just shipped me a brand new replacement unit. Awesome!!Anonymous

Another great rotary in Philips' lineup. This series does solve the issue of many complaints regarding the detachable trimmer and heads of other Philips shavers – it has the traditional flip-top head and pop-up trimmer. This adds to the bulk of the shaver, body and head, but precludes having to keep track of a separate trimmer and remove the head for cleaning, and it works reasonably well, although for me the trimmer isn't quite as effective as the SmartClick attachments for the Series 9000 shavers. The ComfortGlide Rings really are effective, and provide a frictionless shave, although in this model they are slightly larger than the Anti-Friction rings of the S7940 for example, and require some maneuvering to get around tight areas. The Quick Clean pods use the same cleaning solution as the SmartClean cartridges for the SmartClean stations, which is excellent for cleaning and lubricating the shaver. The Quick Clean Pod is unpowered however, and uses the shaver's power, reducing it by about 1 percent per cleaning, although on a positive note doesn't require cords or cables and is more compact – actually usable for travel. The GroomTribe app is the Achilles Heel of all these Bluetooth shavers, and in particular this model (S7782), because there's no information regarding this particular shaver – the app seems exclusively to recognize only the S7940 shaver. On the plus side, the S7782 will connect, and it does record the shaving time and the percentage of rotation (which improves shaving efficiency), although the motion sensor algorithm in the shaver appears not to recognize the correct rotational movement about half the time. The good news is you don't actually need the app, and this shaver has an LED screen that provides all the essential information about the shaver, including battery life, cleaning information and the previously mentioned inaccurate rotation statistics. The shaving heads (SH71/52) only have a single cutting ring, but actually are comfortable and provide a very close shave. Overall, an excellent rotary from Philips, that provides a close, comfortable shave, warts and all, with the potential to improve with software updates to the app. Recommended.S7782

This new Norelco shaver is a big change from my current one. Some things I really like about it and a couple not so much. Starting with the not so much is the fact that there's no charger for this shaver, it just comes with a cable with a USB end. My current Norelco has a nice charger base it sits upright in and plugs into the wall. The shave head on this is also considerably larger than my current one and takes some getting used to for trimming around tight spots on the face. Now for the good, this shaver requires very little effort for shaving stubble on my face and gets it all with only a couple passes. The way the shave head can contour around the face is cool and helps to get shaving done quicker. The shaver has a battery level indicator on the front which comes in handy, my current one only has a light that flashes when its time to charge it. Overall this is a nice replacement shaver other than not coming with a charger right out of the box.dmx10101

Probably the best rotary shaver ever made. This model is akin to the old-style Norelco shavers of the 90s into the 2000s. Only with a modern look and feel. For a while, since 2015 or so I think, most Philips Norelco models had heads with two rows of blades and were somewhat open on the outside. I feel this was a mistake as skin could get caught in the open spaces. This model however has the blades completely enclosed by the comb with one row of blades. Like the old ones used to be. And believe me, one row of blades is fine. I get a great shave from this model. Philips Norelco reached the apex of electric shaving technology years ago with lift-and-cut blades, and they just keep improving. But the previous style of blades was not best for me. Speaking of lift-and-cut, that was not a meaningless marketing slogan. If the hairs were long enough you could actually feel them being plucked, ouch. Fortunately gone are the days of nickel-cadmium batteries taking 8 hours to charge and dry shaving only. This is the new era of electric shaving. The blades are self sharpening and most if not all models are now wet / dry. This model feels sturdy and solid with good weight. Fits well in the hand. And the motor is strong but not too loud. And the blades cut through stubble like it's not even there. I've used many norelco models through the years. But there's something about this one. It cuts cleaner, easier and faster. And it just feels better on my face, and in my hand. I shave in the shower with Nivea Men Sensitive gel, because I'm a sensitive guy. And if I'm in a hurry I shave dry. It's nice to have the option of either. This is the best Norelco so far, and it's not even the really expensive model.Bond...James, Bond

This is a great, Great Razor!!! It must be charged for the night or a few hours when you first get it though. You don't need to leave it plugged in though. Once it has been charged fully, you will have several days worth of power. It is very quiet, it gives a really close shave and it is really smooth on the face. In addition, it is very simple to clean. You can removed the guard and it reveals the blades of the razor. You just run some water over the blades and it removes the hair clippings.bj987keller

The Good: Great feel, grip, shave, ease of cleaning, quick charge time, trimmer is handy for sideburns to shape them up between haircuts. The Bad: I have now gone through two of these in about 2 years….the first lasted about 18 mos, the second, about 5. Problem? For whatever reason, after awhile, it will not charge. I also use shaving cream when I get out of the shower and use the razor, rinse it before, during and after use….and always and I mean always, after the period of time, you get up, plug it in, go in the shower, come out, dead. It won't charge. My guess? The Lithium Ion Batts. While ALL batteries have a lifespan, they should be much longer thant this. I rinse the head during shaving (shaving cream buildup and hair) 2-3 times while shaving paying attention to let the water drain down 90-95%….I don't think it's water intrusion….as deep as this thing goes is running it under the faucet head down? I used both the old and new charger….the new one shows all power lights on for about 2-3 seconds, goes dim, dead……there is something about these batteries that are not right….I am off to Walmart this mornign to get a 3rd in less than 3 years THIS time WITH the cheap warranty…..I have used Brauns for over 30 years and the batteries always seem to be the issue…do NOT pack them in luggage that will go in the cargo hold or you will find them dead, not chargeable when you get to your destination…this one is ONLY used at home. I take a cheap corded Braun on the road and it's about 20 years old now, still works but it's a dry shave…irritating…….I like the ability to use shaving cream for a much more comfortable shave but, this battery thing is aggravating…..over the 30 years I have gone through multiple 3, 5, 7 and 9 series razors…they ALL have battery failures eventually…so you end up buying a new one…..why? Because the other brands suck MORE. I have had Remington, Norelco (couldn't shave close with a gun to it's head), Chinese knockoffs even a small cordless from Harbor Freight that despite is size and slow speed delivered a great shave until it quit working…..it seems that if a rechargeable battery is run for 20 mins a day max, 6-7 days a week, it SHOULD last more than 6 months….never dropped, never abused, always left open on the counter after rinsing to let the head and razor dry after separated….still died….ridiculous…..I only hope the warranty is worth something when the next one croaks….no warning either….just dies…..still the best brand overall….Terry

I've never really liked wet dry shavers but this one changed my mind. it shaves flawless and leaves you face as smooth as using a traditional razor. i love that it's wireless and it charges very quickly and stays charged for a great amount of time. and cleaning is a breeze with the included brush and removable heads. you can also remove the head and run it under water for a deep clean. all around this is and excellent shaver.James

I purchased this as a gift twice. Both recipients love it! They say it works great, and the batteries last longer than I thought they would. When I ordered it the first time, I didn’t realize it takes regular AA batteries. But both my mom and mother-in-law are happy with it.SCchick05

I have had my electric shaver for over a year now, and dang, is it durable!! This electric shaver, is built to last! I've dropped it onto hard flooring, I've thrown it, and it didn't crack or break or dent AT ALL. There's been some instances where my shaver was dropped (hard) onto wood flooring, hard enough that it should have ended up in pieces, unusable, but has performed consistently up until now. Unfortunately, with all the use it's seen, it's just now getting to the point of needing to be replaced, but it's still working. In a world full of cheaply made crap from China, Phillips is crafting their products to the good ol' USA standards for durability and consistent performance. Would DEFINITELY recommend!! Been shaving for 45 years, and mostly with Panasonic shavers. They are by far the best shavers made. I have 4 Panasonics in my collection right now… the ES8249, ES-LF51 ES-LA93 and the new ES-LV97. Whats nice about Panasonic is that the charger/cleaning station can be used interchangeable with almost any of it models in a pinch. I've used Braun, Reminington and most the top brands and Panasonic is the best, IMHO. The Braun had an annoying vibration to it and not as smooth as the Panasonics. My current shaver is a ES LA93 which is very good but only has 3 blades The ES-VS97 in new and improved, and I mean that literally. The 5 blade head are smooth and soft, and cut with less swipes than the ones with 3 blades. The pop up trimmer is a big improvement over older models, as it locks in place moving in either direction. Lastly, cosmetically it is much nicer looking with a matte black finish.cgnaked

I’m switching to this electric Panasonic Arc5 razor after having used another brand’s wet/dry electric razor for the past 13 years. The Arc5 razor is lightweight, and the matte black plastic doesn’t look or feel very premium, however, a silver/chrome model is also available and the warranty is 2 years. This razor performs very nicely and gives me a close shave both when using dry and wet with shaving cream. I very rarely have to make more than one pass over the same patch of skin, though I find that when shaving dry it’s easier to pull the skin taught to raise the hairs since I don’t have to work over the shaving cream. The first time I used the razor I did experience a bit of razor burn and irritation, especially around the Adam’s apple; the manual suggests that it could take up to 30 days of regular use for your skin to acclimate to the new shaver. That, plus I haven’t clean shaven properly in weeks as growing out your beard has become quite trendy during the COVID-19 pandemic. That said, I did use the trimmers first to trim my facial hair down to stubble before shaving and was impressed with the efficiency and smoothness of the pop up trimmers; they didn’t catch, pull, or snag once, which my old electric razor used to do constantly. If you like the stubble or 5 o’clock shadow look, you could probably even stop there. The LCD is bright and easy to read, but it really only gives you information about the remaining battery life and whether or not it is set to the “cleaning” mode. The charging cable connector is uniquely shaped, so if you lose it or it breaks, you’ll need to get a model/series specific replacement cable. It lasts about 2 weeks on a full charge (1 hour) if your daily shave averages about 3 minutes. While the unit I have did not come with a charging base, there are contacts on back of the handle for automatic charging when the razor is placed into a charging base. What I did find interesting about this razor is its beard density sensor which changes the motor speed based on the density/coarseness of the section of beard it is trimming. You can hear the motor sound change as it encounters thinner or thicker patches of hair, which works well on my uneven and patchy beard growth. The razor also has a cleaning cycle and comes with blade oil to maintain the blade sharpness and a brush to clean out any shavings. The top pops off easily for cleaning, and the foils and blades are simple to remove and replace when needed. The unit did come with a leatherette carry case and a plastic protective cap for travel. My beard may be a bit different than the avg. guy’s beard. I’m not a hairy guy, & I don’t have a thick, coarse, stubbly beard. If I don’t shave during the work week, I won't end up with a stylish 5 o’clock shadow until Friday afternoon–a look that a lot of other guys can achieve in just 1 day. But even with my soft, thin facial hair, this electric razor doesn’t offer the close shave I’d hoped for. In fact, the number of passes I’m forced to make over my face & neck to obtain a clean, whiskerless mug is both annoying & time-consuming. So, despite my slow-growing beard, if I don’t shave at least 2-to-3 times/week w/this electric razor, then I’m forced to revert to a disposable razor for a clean shave. In addition, I found that the shaver’s large head makes it a bit unwieldy & difficult to obtain a close shave in the area just beneath my nose. Whether shaving wet or dry & regardless of technique (going against the grain, stretching the skin, toggling the shaver head between the “free” & “lock” positions, utilizing the pop-up trimmer, etc.), I also found it difficult to get a clean shave under my jaw line, below my sideburns. I experienced similar difficulty in shaving the tiny hairs in the lower neck/throat area on either side of my Adam’s apple. Although some may prefer to utilize the razor’s wet shave capability, I don’t like to shave in the shower. Although I did try the wet shave option, it didn’t cut any better than the dry shave. So, after 2 tries at wet shaving, I went back to traditional dry shaving. As for the suggested shaving cream option, I don’t use shaving cream with an electric razor. For me, the whole pt. of an electric razor is convenience & time savings vs. dealing w/the hassles of a manual razor (running hot water, applying/removing shaving cream/gel, & cauterizing bloody nicks, etc.). Simply put: an electric shaver should provide a QUICK, safe, close shave without all the mess & fuss. Although a 2-yr. mfr.’s limited warranty sounds impressive vs. the industry std., a quick check revealed that the common recommended replacement parts (new blades & foils) aren’t inexpensive. So, I doubt I’ll be able to justify the expense of regular maintenance w/this razor (apart from routine cleaning). Instead, I’ll probably elect to put those funds towards the cost of a new shaver. Furthermore, the lithium ion battery life is just 3 yrs., & it isn’t intended to be replaced by the consumer. In some ways, this shaver could almost be considered an expensive disposable razor. On a minor note, the black travel case/pouch feels like cheap vinyl without any real padding or cushioning to fully protect the hardware & sensitive electronics. Overall, I'm a bit underwhelmed & disappointed, as I expected greater performance—namely, a closer, quicker shave—from a premium electric shaver at this price point.CriticalEye

When I received the product I briefly used it to shave my face. The product seemed to do a very good job of coverage as well as precisely removing the fine hair. It was a lot better than my current product. The price of the product is well worth it, considering it only takes one hour to charge. I looked at other products of this caliber and most of them took a lot longer to charge. The fact that you use a USB plug to charge the product also means it uses less electricity. first off I have only had one electric shaver in my life and did not like it at all, but that was over twenty years ago and it was a gift so I did not know the value of it. I have always used a double razor (two blades). I do not like the three and four blade razors, just a waste in my opinion. the Remington F3 Comfort Series Foil Shaver is easy to use. charge-shave-clean the instructions say to charge for 24 hours and like other chargeable batteries to deplete the first charge before charging again. over a week has gone by and the initial charge is still going strong. do not use while plugged in this is a cordless use shaver. also a green indicator light remains on while charging and stays on while plugged in. I think it should go out when it is fully charged and turn red when it needs to be charged. cleaning is easy just pop off the foil head and use the included brush to clean the shavers cutters. be careful when you remove the foil head that a cutter does not come off, but if it does it pops right back on. also to use a household oil to lubricate the cutters/blades. do not clean while plugged in and do not clean or disassemble while shaver is on. included in the packaging is the electric razor itself with a pop up trimmer, a head guard the charger and a cleaning brush. I thought the trimmer was a good idea and liked the thought of being able to have it in my hand while shaving. I was wrong while I tried to trim my mustache the foil head is in my line of view making the trimming process very difficult. I also do not feel the razor shaves close enough I felt like a had stubble right after I shaved. the neck area more speaking the lower neck area I could not get the hairs shaved at all. I also am experiencing irritation of my neck area. I bought the Remington Foil Shaver 3000, primarily due to it's low price. Replacement blades on my electric shaver with rotating blades were 50% more expensive than this foil shaver. I'm always looking for a good price when shopping for a razor, but sometimes I'd wish I spent more money after using it for the first time. But this little razor does the trick. I wasn't used to a foil shaver. I figured you's shave like you would mow a lawn, straight back and forth, because the shaver is rectangular. As the instructions say, it's more effective if you use it in a circular motion. After having a razor with circular rotating blades, it was a little awkward moving foil blade in a circular motion, but you get used to it. It also says in the manual that you should only need to brush out the blades once a month. I had to clean them each time I used it. Mind you, I shave my entire head and face and I'm used to cleaning the blades frequently, so this is not a concern of mine. But, if you want it to work well, clean it. I would also suggest shaving every day with this. I let a 2 day growth so before using it. It took some time to shave it and only the next day was I able to get it smooth. It actually cuts closer than my more expensive razor, but you need to use it everyday to keep it close. And I'm not that hairy. I highly recommend the Remington Shaver 3000, if you understand that it is not the most powerful shaver. I don't feel like spending $200 on a razor that can easily handle a two day growth. I can shave everyday and have an extra money in my pocket.Joan

The razor performs well. The two stars is because I received a used razor completely clean and free of all hair except one. Marring on the shaver was also evident from its cradle. It of been sold as "good" condition and certainly not new. it's be willing to keep it and make a more favorable review if they met me in the middle on the price otherwise I'll use it til my rotary comes in and then return it and let the review stand. The box was sealed but the inside clear and white plastic packaging was suspiciously sliced opened. I actually purchased both types of electric razors not knowing which I would prefer.therese

I used to have one of these many years ago, and when mine finally quite working, I really missed it. I tried other portable battery-powered razors, but none fit the application like this gem from Braun! When I found it on eBay – I was elated! Been using it for over a month. Good little shaver although will probably need to use it every day. Obviously, electric / battery shavers don't shave as close as a blade. But , it's a pleasure not to have to fiddle around with foam , water and a brush any more. Would never go back to all that mess. This Braun is excellent value for money Easy to clean. Comfortable in the hand. Nice to see how much charge is left. Holds a charge pretty well. Does not have Lithium battery, however. Does not use a stand to charge. You connect it to the wall to charge and then put the charger away. Would like to have a charging stand because it's easier. The blades are smaller than they look. But overall, works well. I am 49, I have been using electric razors for over 30 years now. I have used Braun for the most part but have used Remington too. The last couple of Braun razors have been of a poor quality, battery life low, trimmer broke and the replacement blades and foils are costly. I thought I would try the Panasonic and could not be happier. It is quiet and really does a great job. I have one area on my neck that is very difficult to shave but the Panasonic does a wonderful job. I like how there is a LED gauge for the power charge. I only use this dry, have never tried it with lotion. My beard is already conditioned to an electric razor so no issues with the change from Braun to Panasonic. For those just starting give youself a few weeks for your beard to adjust, you will be pleased.KeninColumbus

This is my second purchase of this model Panasonic electric shaver. I purchased it because the first one I bought a couple of years ago has worked very well and is still working fine but the battery no longer holds a charge as long as it did when I first received it. I had to charge the battery only about every 10 days when it was new but now it must be charged every 5 days. The new one arrived promptly in apparent good condition. Because the first one I purchased still works fine I have not used the new one yet. I expect it to work fine too.Aprilsaint

Perpetually a 12 year old little girl, I cannot NOT cut myself when shaving with a regular razor in the shower. Especially around my knees! It never fails, I knick myself and I miss like half of the hair. Just bought this and am so excited to be able to shave outside of the shower! Adequate to Good, but not Great. I purchased this shaver instead of its lower priced sister because this one has the bikini attachment. For the extra $$$ I found the attachment to be useless. It has a few settings but none is low enough for a decent shave in bikini area. It is safe because of that as there is zero risk of cutting or hurting yourself. Having said that, I had no problem shaving the bikini area WITHOUT the attachment. I tested the unit with dry shaving and found The razor is easy to use. It worked very well on armpits and legs. The moving head is very comfortable and effective. Overall I am happy with this razor but would recommend it's less expensive cousin because of the disappointing bikini attachment.kara.m

I kind of wish I would have returned this to Amazon. At far as dry shaving goes, the will cut hair pretty close to the skin, so you don’t look as hairy. But if anyone feels your skin, they definitely won’t feel smooth skin. And if you have dark hair, you’re still going to see the dark hair follicles after using this. As far as the trim guard, all it’ll do is snag and pull at your hair. The pain isn’t worth it. I use my husband’s instead, which works almost flawlessly, so I shouldn’t have paid more for the [brand:panasonic] trim guard. As for the recharging of this unit, I can leave it on its charger for 24 hours and the light never turns green. I don’t think the unit is a good investment unless there isn’t much contrast between your skin and hair, or if you find yourself often needing to dry shave and get out the door in a pair of shorts very quickly.d.s

My daughter who is not safe with a regular razor loves it. It cuts closer than any other electric razor we have owned. I would def recommend as and alternative to regular blade razors. Doesn't stay charged as long as I would like it to…You only have about 20 minutes to get your shaving done per session. But overall great product. MandyMandy

This shaver is the latest one that I have gotten from personal purchase at my local Rite-Aid from a year or so ago. I've had it for a long enough time to want to review. I do only use it when my skin is dry, I have yet to be brave enough and see how it works when my skin is still wet after showering or bathing! Overall I don't see or feel stubble too much once after I've used this shaver! I f there is stubble, I would not blame the shaver, I really will blame myself for missing spots on my legs! The Rechargeable shaver no defects holding the charger price is reasonable. This is my 3 rd on Conair over period of yrs, it is cheaper to purchase the whole shaver then it is to replace the blades. I recommend this brand.Beverly

Not what I expected from what used to be a premium quality manufacturer. Poor quality plastic, and no case provided, the cleaning brush is tiny, easily mislaid without case. Adequate no frills shaver, don't expect Braun quality of 20 years ago. It was cheap, not necessarily good value.Seejay

Bought this over a wk ago. A bit sceptical at first however i was gladly suprised. Shaves my face like its butter. Smooth shave. Face feels like baby face. No snags/cuts/or irritation. Only thing is i would say is that i needed to be a bit more thorough in some areas as it missed picking. Those areas are generally underneath neck. So be more thorough there. Opened box to clippers and small brush was missing. Decided to try the clippers on my hand before actually using on my head to make sure it was a low, clean cut, but when I started I noticed that no hair was being removed and so I look closer at clippers and the thin aluminum part was chipped. This chipped piece shouldn’t of stopped clippers from cutting. Clippers never removed a single strand of hair. Couldn’t return per store policy, only was able to return when I didn’t like the product quality.Pierre

After using the balding clipper to kickstart cutting a client's hair, I put the finishing touches to the job by using the Wahl shaver. I must confess that using the Wahl shaver to complete the job no doubt takes the end result to another level. My clients are happy for a great job and I am equally happy to see magnificent results of investing in a Wahl shaver. It undoubtedly takes the process of balding a head to another level. I've always wanted one of these since I was a teen, instead I got a Norelco for Christmas and it wasn't good. The circular rotating blades would irritate my skin, hated it. I love the Remington cutting system, clean cut and no irritation… FYI, I went old school a few years back and started using the dual edge single blades safety razors (astra, bolzano, feather & merker) for two reasons; 1. the multi-blade disposables were and still are too expensive and 2. the single blade safety razors actually shave better.. So now I wet and dry shave, best of both worlds.Basil

After having owned this same razor for many years I felt it was time to replace it since nothing lasts forever and the motor was becoming noisy. The only complaint I have with the first one was the trimmer stopped working a few months after I bought it. Hope this one performs better in that area. Overall, this razor is worth the price.Wayne

Decent price for a competent quality, high speed shaver. Not as close or as quick as my cheap Optimus shaver, and much noisier. Pivoting head is a mixed bag; the head is always aligned with my face, but some areas need special attention so I find myself grabbing and immobilizing the head in order to keep it at the shaving angle I want. The shaver has a middle slot designed to capture and clip unruly longer whiskers but I'm not sure it actually works. Removing foil head for cleaning is problematic; blades come off their base easily and the foil is hard to remove and requires force, which suggests it will fail prematurely. Shaver battery life is excellent and should provide plenty of shaves so you don't need to bring the charger on weekend getaways. Shaver design appears premium with chrome accents, but the country of origin is China, which has been in the news for human rights abuses. I'd rather Remington make them in the U.S. and provide more jobs here.schmerdtz

I recently acquired this shaver and so far I must say I am pleasantly surprised by it's performance and what it can accomplish. For most of my adult life I have been wet shaving due to difficult, curly facial hair and sensitive skin, this shaver has certainly made this as a very good option if not a preference. The shaver is quick to use and doesn't irritate my skin. I like the shavers swiveling head which can angle itself to ensure all hairs are collected and cut with precision. The compact 40° swiveling head is great at getting into all those nooks and crannies, which with age I have more than a few. Braun's Sonic and AutoSense Technologies knows how to handle the curls to my beard after a few days growth. The 5-in-1 SmartCare Center is a joy to use charging and cleaning without a care! I have yet to fully test it's battery life, a Li-Ion battery that should last for 60 minutes, as the shaver is on charge most of the time, but will on some trips away later this year. I have no doubt that it will step up to the mark without an issues. Where this have come into it's own for me is the shaver is 100% waterproof. I now mostly use the shaver in the shower to aid shaving with softer bristles. This has been a great bonus. This is a shaver with all the bells and whistles but nothing that is unwarranted, highly recommended.DaveG

After 27months of the Braun series9 shaver it stopped working. Initially, it would put itself into a travel lock. This quickly escalated to the point where it would remain in a travel lock so the $600 plus shaver and cleaner were useless The replacement lasted only 15 months then the start button fell out so it can't be in the shower as the water can access the internal electrics. This unit also goes into travel lock on its own but with some mucking about I can still manage to shave at the moment but it is getting harder to force the shaver out of travel lock. Such a bad experience with a premium shaver. The after-sales service I would describe as quite poor. I had to complain about a premium product a lot to get a replacement shaver. The shaving performance is excellent being a little better than the top-of-the-line Panasonic. But I rated it low because of the ridiculously poor life of the product. The Panasonic shaver lasted many many years. Around 6 or 7 yearsgummy

Featured here is the Panasonic ES3831, a cousin of the ES3834 which I had and which it duplicates in every way except for the trimmer which the ES3834 had but which this ES3831 doesn't, but if you have no mustache to trim like I do, this ES3831 will be a must have for you. It follows a line of very reliable high quality Japanese precision Panasonic ES travel shavers. I could not believe at how great a shave it gave! And it runs for a long time on easy to find AA batteries. No fumbling around with a charger. Very handy when you're traveling international because different countries have different outlet configurations. With this handy precision quality shaver, you won't have to worry about that. Don't worry about getting it wet. It's water resistant and can be used for a wet shave. I gave mine to my wife, and after flirting with another brand that just didn't work despite its name and higher price, I'm going back to the exact same Panasonic model now to get back into the game.PapaBap

I wish in the "Tell us more" section, it had an option under "Do you recommend it?" to be "Maybe"; Ditto for is it a good value. It is well known that electric foil and "pad" shavers work well but maybe not as well as blade. Remember that old adage by some shaver manufacturers that their shavers "shave as close as a blade or your money back."? That tells you that blades shave closest. In the case of this Panasonic shaver, that is still true. The foil on this shaver gets dull rather quickly after using it for a few weeks, so I now have to follow it up with a going over with a razor. The reason that I use this shaver is that I keep cutting myself with the razor if I use the razor first; even with shaving cream. I wish there was a way to closely shave but not cut myself. On the good side, this shaver is waterproof and the batteries last a long time, weeks, before replacing.bricolaje
