Best Short Hair Curling Iron (2023 Update)

I watched several YouTube videos on this product and it seemed everyone had success. I was excited to get this in the mail, shipping was fast. Now, the product itself did not work on me at all. I do have very long hair but it’s very fine. It doesn’t matter if I put an inch of hair half an inch or a small strand of hair it just like bogged up. It just nodded my hair up and it would not take a curl at all I would not even spin. It didn’t matter what size my hair thickness was. I was very disappointed so I returned it.Boy mom

Just section up your hair, line it up with the opening, hit the button and voila perfect hair. I know you’re probably worrying that it will tangle up your hair. Fret not! If my ultra tangly hair gets curled without issue than yours will too. But if it does get tangled the chi will beep and turn off. This CHI spin and curl has been absolutely life changing for me. I have incredibly thick and long hair (hair down to my bum) and there’s A LOT of it, so I have never been able to fully curl my hair and it remain curled for long because of how heavy it is. It would also take on average about 3 hours to curl my full head of hair with a traditional curler. With the Spin n Curl, I am able to curl my entire head of hair within TWENTY MINUTES. yes. You read that correctly. TWENTY. MINUTES. that’s all it takes! The curls hold up all day as well! I was honestly astonished when I first used this curler and now I can’t stop recommending it to everyone I know. Also, another thing I wanted to point out is that I was very nervous about the possibility of my hair getting stuff in the spinner, but the curler has a really neat tension technology where the moment it senses a tension pull from your hair, it stops and will not heat your hair, so you don’t have to worry about it burning you. It’s also pretty difficult to even get your hair to not wind up correctly, trust me I tried over and over again, to fully test it out. I cannot recommend this curler enough! For my thin hair babes — THIS WORKS. I’m not sure what the other people who reviewed saying it didn’t work for their thin hair were doing wrong but my style held up with no product other than a heat protectant. I took a nap, rode in the car with the windows down, and constantly played with it and my style still looked incredible. For the price of this curling iron, you absolutely cannot beat this. I’m a 90s girl at heart and I love the curl my hair with a curling iron. I’ve tried using flat irons to curl it but I does not give the same effect. So I will always have the in my hair tools. I use this several times a week. It heats up in less than a minute. Has an automatic shut off in case you forget. Makes beautiful loose curls. Pretty inexpensive. I love love love love this product, by the time I bought it it cost me like 9$ and it have been with me since then. Great quality and so affordable. You can make different hair styles with it (different types of curls) just look on YouTube tutorials! Or if you are interest you can just ask me and I can help you with that. I bought this as a birthday gift for my young sister. She took it out and used it the next day. She loves it. She said it’s getting hot fast, but pretty even. It’s easy to use. I love the different heat settings on this curling iron, you can do low or high depending on the curls you are going for or the thickness of your hair. I also appreciate how the setting are controlled on the bottom of the iron where it’s not in the way. I’ve had other irons where I keep switching the settings on accident. I used the iron the first time on the hottest setting to see how fast the curls were created. It took me about 15 to curl my entire head of hair and the curls were beautiful! The ceramic barrel really distributes the heat evenly. The only con I would say is the curling iron smelled pretty bad, my hair smelled burnt the entire day. I immediately started to smell it within seconds of turning on the curling iron. Not so happy about that but besides that I really enjoyed it. This was gifted by T3 Micro.sillaaa12

In terms of design, this is truly a brilliant hair tool. I have super fine hair and MY GOD the worst thing ever is getting it caught in hair tools. T3 managed to make a design wherein it is so sleek that my hair never gets caught. Thanks for saving my hair, T3 – I don’t have enough of it to spare! Additionally, the heat on this is utterly perfect. My hair never holds a curl – with this tool, it does. I set it to level 2 for my fine, but presently dyed, hair. Wondrous. It truly takes one pass to make a lovely curl! My final commentary is that if you’re scared this width only gives extremely tight curls, know that this width is my secret to fast WAVES vs curls. You know how a wide barrel requires a small section of hair to achieve a wave? With a slim barrel, you can stick a good section of hair into the tool, and out comes less of a curl than expected. This means you can get a beachy wave from this width – only it takes 5 minutes instead of 20. If you end up with too tight of a curl, just brush it out. I am so happy an impressed with this amazing hair curler from T3. I have tried several other curlers before but never gig the results I got from this… my curls looked so perfect and beautiful. It is very easy to use and does the work so quick. You can do light curls or loose whatever you want, it is perfect for both. It is very light weight and doesnot feel uncomfortable to hold. It doesnot make my arms hurt fat all. I can do my entire hair, within 10-15 minutes which was great. It heats up quickly and doesnot take much time to curl. It has a very nice sleek design and can be carried easily wherever you want too. This curler has been such a delight! First off, it's a stunning lavender and rose gold with LED settings – it looks more expensive than it actually is! The box comes with a USB cable but you'll need a power adaptor (I used the one for my phone). It charges quickly enough and stops blinking to let you know it is done. Once charged, the curling iron is extremely intuitive to use and I love that you have the option of the clamp. No issues whatsoever in curling, and I'm SO happy to report that my hair did not get stuck in the curler at any point (this has been an annoying problem with some curling irons). The best part is absolutely the lack of a cord – I liked this design from day one, but in practice? It's as though this curling iron removes a nuisance that I've always just accepted with other curlers. With this, I never have to reposition my wrists, I never have to think about a cord – I can just curl! It's really a brilliant design, and I can imagine it would be SO helpful for beginners (no cord = one less thing to deal with). I love my Conair curling iron! I prefer curling irons over wands. It can make tight or loose curls. I have had this curling iron for 5+ years and it still works like new. I use this about 1-2 times per week and doesn’t take long to heat up. Would highly recommend!danielle.t

I do love my Conair curling irons. For the price point, it can't be beat. I like that I can adjust my heat setting to my hair needs and there are so many barrel sizes available. The clamp doesnt crimp my hair. I do wish it was a little looser so I could do some different techniques, but again, this is a budget friendly product and it does a good job.heather.a

I have been using this same curling iron for many years. The las two or three I have bought have been very disappointing. They won’t turn on until you push the button over and over again. Sometimes they never come on, so I have to keep a backup. Now the one I’m using goes off in the middle of my curling, so I have to keep watching the light. I bought a Revlon as a backup but I don’t like it as well. However I’m losing faith in your product.Karen

I absolutely love this curling iron. I curl my hair almost everyday, and this gets me the perfect curls every time whether if I do loose waves or full on curls. Plus the fact that the curls stay in tact for at least 2 days, probably more if I didn't have to wash my hair. I used to be a Hot Tools snob but after about 8 or 9 years my Hot Tools one finally went out on me and I decided to try the Ion Titanium Pro Curling Iron (Not gonna lie- Because it was cheaper) and I will NEVER buy anything but this one again… 10/10, highly recommend buying one of these!! The design of these irons is meant to be used by professionals, meaning pointed away from the person holding it toward someone sitting in front of them. It's difficult to explain without seeing it, but while with a traditional spring iron, flipping the iron around to use on your own hair doesn't really matter, with a marcel, it requires you to hold the iron completely backward from how it's designed. There are a lot of other things that make a marcel tricky to use, but this means it's even harder to use on yourself than on someone else. So when people complain about the difficulty, they're not exaggerating. I was able to figure out how to use it reasonably well the first time I used it, but it took me at least a week of daily use to be fairly comfortable with it. I've been using it for months now. For a while I thought it was a good iron, but I didn't really know if it was any better than a standard iron. That's until I forgot it while on a trip and had to borrow an old school iron from a friend. The difference is huge. First, a spring iron is actually a lot of work to use after getting used to a marcel. Second, the control and quality of curl with this iron is so much better. It's definitely worth the cost. If you don't curl your hair a lot or aren't comfortable with a normal iron, a marcel might not be worth it. But if you curl your hair regularly and have decent coordination and hand dexterity, this is a great iron.heather.w

This is a must have in my arsenal of hair products/accessories. It's lightning fast to heat up, makes a natural looking curl which stays for hours, sometimes into the next day if a shampoo isn't needed. I especially like the long barrel for my medium length hair and thankfully have yet to burn myself. The picture below was before I cut several inches off with our best friend Sam a few months back. I was so pleased because this day didn't start out sunny, it was drizzly and humid in the morning and my curls stayed into the evening. It's truly my favorite styling iron and a must have. Because this rivals GHD and my curls are smooth and effortless. Now with that being said, the curls do not last until the next morning, but they never did on my thick coarse wavy hair anyway. Another plus is that if I don't have time to curl my hair, I can just run it thru with a slight uplifting curl at the bottom. Looks super cute. I'm impressed.Fresca

I really love how the 1.25 barrel can create texture and volume with my long hair. This iron does a nice job making an effortless wavy look. The long barrel allows me to wrap my entire hair length to evenly distribute heat. I found my hair to glide smoothly across the surface of the barrel. I appreciate the 5 heat settings especially as I like to use lower heat with my finer hair around my face and higher heat with my courser hair in the back. Love that you can get curls/waves with one pass. I also really appreciate the swivel cord and 1 hour auto shut off. I did have a little difficulty curling the back of my head and wish the iron was a little lighter, but overall it’s one of the better ones I’ve tried.Bunnybutt531

I love this curling Iron because it has 5 settings and a long barrel, and the barrel is 1.25 inches. It's so pretty and it makes my hair look so nice. The curls last longer than my last iron. One pass was a 24-hour hold. It created big Curls and waves. This is the best curling iron I've ever owned! Lets start with the design. I love the details on the handle and love the colors they chose. as it brings a little spring time in to my hair collection. Also this is the first time for me using a tool like this. where i am able to not worry about clipping my hair with a alligator type clamp. The color matching buttons makes it easy to make sure you use the recommended temp and with the power button easy to change the temp if needed. Also the capability to inner change the size is to cool. it took me a few times to get the hang of using these tools but that only because im use to the clamp style. I do have heavy hair with thickness to it. so i was amazingly shocked how long my curls lasted. as i have long down pasted the middle of my back and again it thick hair. Now it does NOT take long for the wand to warm up. maybe a full minute to be at its full temp. so this will be only tool for now on for my hair to be curled.iammrstrejo

I had high expectations for this product because I knew in order for me to like it, it had to be a total game changer. I have never been good with curling irons/curlers/anything that curls your hair!! For some reason I could never get the "bouncy" beautiful curls that I envied. Most of the time I would get the weird crease from the clamp that totally ruins the curls. To sum it up… I just never could get the hang of it… not even on other people's hair. Well this wand completely changed my perspective on all this. I love that there is no clamp so you have more of a hands on feel and you're able to create the curl that you want depending on how much hair you use, which wand you use, temperature, how high you curl to the scalp, how long you hold it in place, etc. The possibilities really are endless!!!! I found this extremely easy to use and a wonderful value if you ask me. My hair is naturally a little wavy to begin with but I found the medium wand to be my favorite because it gave me such a natural look in such little time. I only wish my hair were longer!!! I'm growing it out but had to cut it a few months ago due to damage from bleach. I cannot wait for it to be longer so I can really achieve the long beautiful curls that I have always dreamed of!! Even with my hair past my shoulders I could still get some beautiful ringlets. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the little glove they give you to help style without burning yourself. The glove only has 3 fingers, which I have never seen before and thought was a little strange lol. The top of the glove had a different fabric or texture than the bottom did. So I think for this reason it can only be worn on one hand so it isn't really suited for ppl who may dominate with the other hand, depending on which one you prefer to use it with (if that makes sense). I actually found it much easier to use without it, but had it been a complete 5 finger glove it would have been much easier. It just doesn't stay on.. so I would suggest either a full glove or no glove. But it isn't really necessary so technically it is a bonus. I was hesitant on buying this wand because of the few negative reviews, but now I know it’s mostly just user error and lack of reading the instructions. lol I’m glad I tried it for myself. This wand is great! I have always used conair tools and they’ve lasted me years. I love the barrel sizes this wand comes with. I have a blunt bob and use the 1/2 inch chopstick with about 1 inch of hair in each curl and it gives me the CUTEST waves that last for a couple of days. I might have to touch up a few spots here and there, but nothing too crazy. I love the different attachments because I can use the largest barrel on my extensions and it’s all in one for convenient storage. Another plus is this heats up insanely fast. It’s so great if you’re in a pinch. Also, I didn’t have an issue with the lock mechanism at all. It’s very simple, especially if you follow the instructions. 😉 The temperature does adjust to your liking without choosing 1 of the 3 curl options. You just have to double click the on button and it will adjust 15° ranging from 250°-450°. It’s a quality hot tool that gets the job done and you can’t beat the price. This is a beautiful curling iron! I love the white with rose gold accents.It feels very solid and well made as you hold it. One thing I really like is the stand on the bottom that keeps it from touching your countertop. Every other curling iron I have ever owned had a “kick stand” type loop that would get super hot,and inevitably you would get burned trying to pull it out to set it back down. It has 5 heat settings and heats up FAST and HOT. It remembers your previous setting,and you can change heat settings with a simple twist. To turn it off you twist and hold for a few seconds.The end of the barrel is wide enough that you can hold it as you curl and not burn your fingertips. I like that where the cord exits the unit actually twists so the cord won’t get tangled. I have never used a 1.5” iron before and I personally felt like the curls were a bit larger than I expected. I was hoping for beach waves but instead got large, soft curls. I have long, thick, naturally curly hair (that can get frizzy too) and I found that running the wand down my hair top to bottom before curling smoothed the frizz out. My boyfriend got me this for my birthday. Love the wand. High quality. Works well. Leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth. Curls stay all day. Love that you can adjust the temperature and change out the attachments. Comes with a glove and a thermal carrying case. Really good deal! I love my Foxybae 7 in one Curling wand set! I have looked for many years to find a curling product to curl my stubborn long hair and then along comes Foxybae. I absolutely love this wand!!! I have never been able to curl my own hair until I used this wand. I have a long bob but have THICK THICK hair!! This makes curling my hair so much fun, so simple and a lot faster than a normal curling iron. My husband has had to help me with a few pieces in the back and he loves to use it on my hair. He even said how simple it is to use. I love all the different barrel choices. My previous wand was really wide at the bottom and narrow at the top making it hard for the curls to look right. I have the titanium 1 inch curling iron and I think it's insane how this ceramic one holds my curls more so than the other. I have virgin hair, it's extremely healthy, straight and silky texture. I say this because for many, it's hard to find a combination of a tool and hair products that can get this kind of hair to hold styling. I've struggled for years. I've been messing with this iron for a few days now and it outdoes the titanium for my kind of hair. I love both for different reasons, but this really is one of my new favorites. I had high hopes for this curling iron since I absolutely love their flat iron but unfortunately the curling iron sucks. Doesn’t hold a curl and if you have longer than shoulder length hair, forget it. Never in my entire life of styling my hair have I had my curls fall so quickly as they do with this iron, even with hairspray. I’m left with zero curls and burnt hair. Even having the temp at a lower setting and a good heat protectant my hair smells burnt. Save your money. There are far better curling irons on the market for $50 or less.Shannon

Works fairly well and a good value for the price. However, I wouldn’t quite consider this “premium.” It’s practical but there are certain functions that could be improved. The stand isn’t great and it’s a nice old school curler. I would not buy this again mainly to reduce clutter and the amount of hair tools in my cupboard. I spent months trying to decide which automatic hair curler I was going to buy. After reading umpteen reviews and watching umpteen YouTube videos on every automatic hair curler on the market, I finally decided to the CHI and got an excellent deal on eBay. I'd watched so many women use this and read the directions, I couldn't wait to use it. Either get some life back in my hair with curls or cut it short. I really thought it would be easy and quick to get long bouncy beach waves. I was wrong about everything! The CHI is very awkward to hold, very heavy and too wide of a handle. It heated up very quickly which was good. But trying to grab 1/2" to 3/4" wide of hair is difficult. And trying to get that hair into the curler was near to impossible! The curler has to be held with a specific side to your head, the same side with the small cutout where you put your hair in. Trying to do this while looking into a mirror really threw me off. After about 6 tries to get hair in I finally did it, had it set on medium heat for 15 seconds, and although I could actually smell my hair burning I waited the whole 15 seconds. When I released the hair it was very hot with barely any curl at all. I would have done better with my old curling iron or plastic rollers. I continued to try and experimentedwith various temperature settings and the longer hold time which is 19 seconds. Every single time my hair got immediately tangled up inside the curler. I was terrified I would either burn my hair off or it would get so tangled in the machine I couldn't get it out and have to cut my hair out of it! Luckily that didn't happen but I did have to lose a bunch of hairs in the process. After maybe a total of 20 minutes I gave up completely. I don't know how others can use this. I don't know how they manage to get their hair into a small opening that's facing their hair and actually have the thing take hold of the hair. I definitely think it would work better if there were cutouts on both sides of the machine so you weren't forced to try to get hair in while having to work within the small opening with the sides in the way. This definitely is not for me and I'm extremely disappointed. If it weren't so heavy and awkward to hold, and I had three hands, I probably could have done it! Unfortunately, the seller doesn't accept returns, so I'll give it to someone more coordinated than me. But don't let my bad experience stop you from buying the CHI if that's what you've set your heart on, just be sure to get it somewhere that accepts returns, just in case.rosie55555

This curler really does work! It just has a learning curve. These are the steps I do to get it to work: 1. Take a small section of hair that’s long & narrow, not a wide section. 2. If starting from the top of your hair shaft, hold the curler close to your head, fit the hair piece in between the plastic V on top of the curler. You can either hold onto the hair piece still or let it go so it’s just hanging down. 3. Push the wind button. If you want curls to face inward you push the button on the outside of the curler, if you want curls that curl away from your face then push the button closest to your ear. 4. After some trial and error you will be able to tell right away if the hair is winding correctly by the way it feels and the noise it makes. 5. You can curl certain sections even if your hair is long. To do this you have to grab your hair from where you want it to start and wrap it around your finger like in the instruction booklet. You then repeat the steps above by putting the hair in between the V. It will wrap it from that section onward. The biggest trick here is **the hair has to fit in between the plastic V on top of the curler** The most unfortunate part is you can’t get so close to your root, but the curls are still pretty!Karen

Omg. This thing is a time saver, I have relatively long thick hair so it takes at least 45min-1hr to curl my hair. Now with this? 15-20min I genuinely am shocked. The first time I took 25 min but that’s only because I didn’t know how to use it properly lol. My hair gets stuck sometimes when I put too much in (they advise against it lol) but even when it gets “stuck” it immediately shuts off and a warning beep alarms me to remove my hair. It doesn’t hurt either. I like how depending on the time you can do loose to poodle curles so it’s very versatile. I’m buying both my sister and my mom this for Christmas 10/10 product. I am a senior lady with shoulder length hair and my hair is on the thinner/fine side. This does not work well on thin hair. Also, once you get the hair inside the rotating curler, you have to hold it for 15-20 seconds(sometimes longer) and, with my arthritis, that is almost impossible. AND, you can only do really small sections at a time. A regular curling iron works 100% better. Not happy, sent it back.DJAZZY

I love my T3 Twirl Ceramic 1 ¼ inch professional curling iron. I love that it is ceramic because it evenly distributes the heat. It gives my hair a nice curl without burning or destroying my hair. I like that it has a cool tip so that it is easier to use without burning my fingertips. This is well made and heavy duty. It has multiple settings for different heat levels. I do notice a different temp with each setting, so it is accurate. The heat is consistent throughout the barrel. The cord does not tangle either. It’s attractive, lightweight and even comes with a heat resistant pouch which is perfect for travel use or just to use on the countertop to protect the counters from burn marks. The curler actually steam straightens your hair as you start to curl it. It is also much hotter than 410. I have 450 that gets hot but this iron gets super hot. This iron is not for beginners. It waa so amazing i wanted to stay up all night and curl all my wig units. I hate i didnt buy the flat iron. Since both were 59.99CeCe O.

This curling iron heats so fast it’s incredible! I turned it on and was curling my hair in seconds! I love the adjustable heat settings so you can use a really low setting which won’t damage the hair. Even the low setting is powerful enough to curl my thick hair quickly and it stays. I actually have naturally curly hair but the strands around my face and neck are often straight, unlike the rest of my hair, so it looks odd. A couple minutes with this curling iron and those strands blend into the rest of my hair like magic! The curl looks completely natural. I personally love the wide barrel but would prefer if it had interchangeable barrels so my Mom could also use it on her short hair but that’s a personal preference. It’s also stylish and sleek.
