this sunscreen could be good, depending on what you’re looking for. it’s good for sensitive skin; it didn’t break me out, and it’s not oily, if anything it’s more drying. it is thick and hard to blend in, but it does eventually blend. it leaves a pretty bad white cast, makes me look like a zombie. also, when you reapply it feels like you have so many layers on your face. i like that its a physical sunscreen that isn’t going to break me out and it doesn’t have chemicals, but i think if i use it in the summer when i’m slightly tan the white cast will be extremely noticeable. ive mixed it with moisturizer that has spf in it and it was easier to blend with less white cast, but i’m afraid the moisturizer is diluting it. it’s a good amount for the price though so if you’re curious, it’s worth trying out.C
The brand is a reputable one and I was happy to find this sensitive skin sunscreen. The cream is very thick in consistency and does not spread easily. It takes some time to rub it on the skin. It's quite affordable but little expensive than other common brands. The cream stays on for few hours and needed to be reapplied. The best part was it did not cause allergies or rashes. I am an older adult – "Irish red" – with basal cell history – live in mid Maryland – got he product the week of 5-1-18, had a few days of 80 – 90 degree full or mostly sunny days. I normally avoid the sun altogether, wearing total clothing coverage, wide brim hats, and zinc ointment on my lips if I do go out during the day (cutting the grass). I even do most of my outdoor yard work in pre dawn hours. Thought would put the product to the full test. Aveeno's good reputation preceded my getting the Baby Continuous Protection Lotion – what prompted me to give it the full test was the brand, zinc oxide broad spectrum SPF 50 sweat and water resistant up to 80 minutes. I chose a day with no clouds, upper 80, lower 90s – went out mid day with a T-shirt, long pants, small cap hat to cover my scalp and hair, work gloves ( took to working in the yard where no shade for exactly 80 minutes ) even timed it. I put the lotion on exposed arms, ears, face, neck (front and back). With a poor or no sun screen at all – I would normally already be showing a developing (bad) burn with this type of exposure. When I ended my time it the sun – I could see my face and exposed arms were a "flushed" color – I was hoping and assuming from working in the heat for the 80 minutes. Got inside, cooled down and the flush color had disappeared – didn't want to claim any victories until I gave my skin several hours to see if a burn was going to show up. Waited 5 hours, took a shower and voila – no evidence of any kind of skin color change. I considered this a big win knowing my skin the way I do. Would highly recommend for any age – it is noted Pediatrician recommended. From my own personal experience – I would recommend careful use of any and all product on the very young – even in the shade, most skin covered – just face exposed, under an umbrella their tender skin can pick up the burn of sun rays just from reflecting from other objects, e.g., sand is a big one. Their tiny cheeks can pick up a bad burn that won't show up til late in a day – frequent application – follow any doctor instruction for the very young. I originally tried this out after having a reaction to the cult favorite UV Clear–I think my skin disagrees with the niacinimide in that formulation. Anyway, I was happy with the quality of EltaMD, but looking for something more moisturizing for my combination/dry skin and I found it in UV Facial. This is an incredibly moisturizing and rich formula that does not leave a white cast on my pale skin. It will leave an ever so slight shine on your face, which translates to a glow on my skin, so if you are oily or prefer a completely matte look then this product probably isn't for you. I find it wears lovely under my foundation–something that can be a challenge with sunscreens. I love this formula so much but had to knock a star off because of the use of chemical filters. If this sunscreen was purely physical it would be a 5/5 holy grail formulation. I keep testing out all-mineral sunscreens and always come back to this one. If you are on the drier side and don't mind a chemical sunscreen, try this out!roshni.p
I use this as my daily sunscreen! Honestly I haven’t had a lot of luck with many sunscreens because of white-cast, oiliness, etc, but this one has been the best formula of the ones I’ve tried in the past. It’s a lightweight formula but you can definitely feel it on your face for the first 20 minutes after applying. It definitely protects your skin and it feels like a clean product, and not too heavy. It has a slight white-cast that goes away after a minute of rubbing in. My only downsides are that it leaves an oily/glossy finish (which I personally dislike) and that it pills with other products. The gloss isn’t terrible, you can certainly cover it up with some powder, but not too bad alone. It definitely can pill so I have opted out from using it with makeup or serums. I keep my morning skincare routine very minimal (just wash and moisturize) so that this sunscreen will not pill. I’ve had it pill before with the cerave vitamin c serum. I have literally tried over 20 sunscreens. Finding one that checks all the boxes ingredient wise and that had a nice finish is nearly impossible. Actually, this is the only sunscreen that has met all my criteria. It also makes my skin look and feel amazing. I have acne prone skin, I’m combo oily, I don’t like feeling anything on my face, and I enjoy makeup. I’m also on a retinoid. I have been using this sunscreen for over a year, and continue to come back to it when I go exploring to see if there’s something better. So far, there isn’t! The finish is natural. It’s not too shiny and not too matte. It literally just makes my skin look healthy and moisturized but not oily at all. There is absolutely no white cast. It does not pill under any makeup I’ve tried. It layers up beautifully. I’ve reapplied 3 times in a day and it manages to stay silky and not cakey on my skin. It does have a very mild, pleasant scent- which is great because I hate fragrances in products or ones that smell naturally of battery acid. It does not sting around my eyes AT ALL. It also has the added benefits of improving my skin texture and look of my complexion. Though it doesn’t add coverage, per say, I can go without my powder foundation when wearing this. Pros: this product doesn't sting my sensitive eyes, and it prevents sunburn. Cons: It settles into the lines of my skin and makes them white. I end up with white lines across my neck, and the visual effect is similar to old age stage makeup. It makes the lines look deeper and more severe. Also, the performance under makeup is appallingly bad. Utterly woeful. I tried it with Bareminerals Barepro pressed powder, and I also tried it with the Lisa Eldridge longwearing liquid foundation, and the makeup looked nice when I first applied it, but then it quickly degraded over the next few hours. The powder foundation cracked so badly that it ended up looking like I had flaky snake scales all over my face. I was still at work, and I took a tissue and savagely wiped away the worst bits. The longwearing foundation fared better, but it split and cracked like a desert floor. The foundation I've been using instead for everyday wear, that doesn't sting my eyes but plays well with makeup, is the Supergoop Play. I get the big jug of it and use it on my face and body, and my makeup sits on top of it beautifully. I’ve recently started purchasing La Roche Posay products and am super happy with my purchase’s. This is the last thing I bought. I’m totally in love with it. It applies perfectly on my face and arms and leaves no white cast. Normally I spend $38-$65 dollars just for my face sunscreen but no more. This one is top dog now. It’s mostly physical with a tad bit of chemical but I’m ok with that. I use to try so hard and use products that were 100% clean and they are so expensive but what people don’t realize is there are non clean ingredients in practically everything. Makeup, skincare, hair products, ect. At least with La Roche Posay I don’t worry about it. It’s fragrance free and doesn’t have sulfates and the majority of the other bad stuff. This brand was made for sensitive skin and mine sure does love it. I’ve been using their face and body wash for dry to extra dry skin on my face then their face and body cream on my face followed by this amazing sunscreen. Who says you have to spend a fortune on skincare for it to work? Next product of theirs I want to try is the hylaronic acid serum. It’s a combination of big and small molecules to reach the surface of the skin and I believe 15 layers deep. Sounds amazing! The BEST Sunscreen I've ever tried so far! With a combination and sensitive skin type I couldn't find the right SPF for me but after trying this one, I'll never go back. No white cast, hydrating, lightweight, filled with really good ingredients and no junk. A bit on the expensive side but worth every penny.
It's very hydrating and kind of calming. Feels like a moisturising primer, which is great if u want to put make up on. If you have dry or irritated skin though, can be a little too light. One day I had irritated eyelids and it was stinging a little, so had to put mineral SPF. I will def wear it on days when I feel oily. In my opinion better than BOS spf in their category.Kate
Absolutely in love! I have to say this is just my third pick in face sunscreen but I can see myself not changing for a long time! Last time I was using hellofresh the serum one which was a little thick and made me suuper shiny. Biore UV Watery Essence SPF50 PA++++ is a chemical sunscreen that has a light-weight feeling yet it effectively protects from strong UV rays. This Japanese sunscreen features UV blocking ingredients such as water capsules which when applied to the skin create a pleasant, watery veil. And with the micro-defense formula it ensures full and even coverage down to micro level crevices. I like how this isn’t think like most facial sunscreens. It’s lightweight with a consistency of a gel-like serum. It does have some slip though. It absorbs fast and I had no issue of a white cast or stickiness being left behind. Despite this being waterproof it actually washes off quite well. It’s a higher SPF than most so it’s slightly more effective at blocking damaging free radicals and preventing premature aging. My biggest con is that alcohol is the second ingredient. And you can definitely smell it upon opening. I would recommend this to those who hate the heavy feeling of sunscreen on their face and those who have oily/combination skin. I tried this sunscreen on my search for a new favorite as this one is well liked. I really like that it is an essence/serum like texture as opposed to be in creamy/thicker/extra moisturizing. My face always breaks out with anything that is extra moisturizing, creamy or thick. Alcohol is high on the list of ingredients, and I have found that as long as I carefully apply the product surprisingly it does not make my eyes sting, water or burn. Whereas with many other sunscreens this tends to happen. I have gone to our local pool on several instances while wearing this sunscreen and anytime my face gets wet the product does run into my eyes causing them to water and burn. I have always waited at least 30 minutes or more before swimming. This seems like it would be a really great sunscreen for some.Krista

I originally tried this out after having a reaction to the cult favorite UV Clear–I think my skin disagrees with the niacinimide in that formulation. Anyway, I was happy with the quality of EltaMD, but looking for something more moisturizing for my combination/dry skin and I found it in UV Facial. This is an incredibly moisturizing and rich formula that does not leave a white cast on my pale skin. It will leave an ever so slight shine on your face, which translates to a glow on my skin, so if you are oily or prefer a completely matte look then this product probably isn't for you. I find it wears lovely under my foundation–something that can be a challenge with sunscreens. I love this formula so much but had to knock a star off because of the use of chemical filters. If this sunscreen was purely physical it would be a 5/5 holy grail formulation. I keep testing out all-mineral sunscreens and always come back to this one. I use this as my daily sunscreen! Honestly I haven’t had a lot of luck with many sunscreens because of white-cast, oiliness, etc, but this one has been the best formula of the ones I’ve tried in the past. It’s a lightweight formula but you can definitely feel it on your face for the first 20 minutes after applying. It definitely protects your skin and it feels like a clean product, and not too heavy. It has a slight white-cast that goes away after a minute of rubbing in. My only downsides are that it leaves an oily/glossy finish (which I personally dislike) and that it pills with other products. The gloss isn’t terrible, you can certainly cover it up with some powder, but not too bad alone. It definitely can pill so I have opted out from using it with makeup or serums. I keep my morning skincare routine very minimal (just wash and moisturize) so that this sunscreen will not pill. I’ve had it pill before with the cerave vitamin c serum. I have literally tried over 20 sunscreens. Finding one that checks all the boxes ingredient wise and that had a nice finish is nearly impossible. Actually, this is the only sunscreen that has met all my criteria. It also makes my skin look and feel amazing. I have acne prone skin, I’m combo oily, I don’t like feeling anything on my face, and I enjoy makeup. I’m also on a retinoid. I have been using this sunscreen for over a year, and continue to come back to it when I go exploring to see if there’s something better. So far, there isn’t! The finish is natural. It’s not too shiny and not too matte. It literally just makes my skin look healthy and moisturized but not oily at all. There is absolutely no white cast. It does not pill under any makeup I’ve tried. It layers up beautifully. I’ve reapplied 3 times in a day and it manages to stay silky and not cakey on my skin. It does have a very mild, pleasant scent- which is great because I hate fragrances in products or ones that smell naturally of battery acid. It does not sting around my eyes AT ALL. It also has the added benefits of improving my skin texture and look of my complexion. Though it doesn’t add coverage, per say, I can go without my powder foundation when wearing this. I had high hopes for this everyday moisturizer that had the bonus of SPF 30, but after applying it and letting it dry, there were too many issues to say it was worth it. If I had even the slightest patch of dry skin, it would cling to it for dear life and leave this gross white cast, crusty, flaky mess on top of it; not cute! If I tried to flick it off with my nail, it would just make it worse. It would also do the same thing near my hairline, so when I tried to get rid of it, all it did was make me look like I had dandruff. Then makeup application… This sunscreen only works well if you PAT a powder on top of your face (that's right, no rubbing whatsoever, or using any brushes, and beauty blenders are a risk because their surface has a slight texture that might pick up some of the sunscreen creating, you guessed it, Flaketown!) Anytime I would apply even the tiniest bit of concealer and tried to blend it in (fingers work the best, and go slow on release), it would move the sunscreen and flake it up. Thank goodness I don't wear tons of makeup, because I don't know how anyone could go out looking flawless with this stuff! The only saving grace about this product is that it's SPF 30.iHerb Customer

I bought this for my face, but stopped using it after about a month. In the afternoon, my face would be chalky under my makeup. Zinc oxide is an important ingredient for dull sun protection, but I think there are brands that provide similar witout the white residue–not sure if zinc will always leave white streaks, but it's possible. However, the fact that I was breaking out AND that the protection is only 30spf made me look for something else. I now use this on less reactive skin on my neck and arms. I'm still looking for something with 50 spf, uva and uvb protection. But the real plus is the pump dispenser, make your morning routine much faster. I loved not having to open caps all the time. I see a lot of negative reviews of this product, but I honestly I think it’s pretty amazing. I was taking a chance buying this, because my skin hasn’t agreed with other glow recipe products in the past (guessing because of the amount of fragrance in their other products), however I couldn’t resist trying a new sunscreen! I have been using it in the morning without any moisturizer at the moment, and haven’t seen any issue with dry skin. For reference I am combo (oily t zone, dry cheeks), can be acne prone, and have seen sensitivity with fragrant products or products that contain essential oils. This product does have a light watermelon scent, but it dissipates within 20 min or so. It’s working well with my Lys foundation currently, but idk what it would be like with a powder or matte foundation.. it might pill as other reviews have suggested. I have been using this product for a few weeks now and have not noticed any sensitivity or increase in acne. And I have tried other chemical sunscreens that have caused my acne to flare up, so this is certainly one of a kind! Throughout my skincare journey, I've placed a strong emphasis on purchasing clean, high-quality products, even if it costs a bit more than, say, something I'd buy at the grocery store or drug store. However, SPF has been, for reasons I can't really explain, one of those skincare products that I just haven't held to that same standard. I've always been more content to just buy a "cheaper" natural brand. Up until this product, I'd been using the Alba Botanica SPF 50 sport sunscreen. It was fine and did what it needed to. But since discovering Glow Recipe, I decided to make the splurge and try out their SPF. Let me just say, I'm SO glad that I did. One of the most notable differences between this SPF and other brands that I've used is the texture. Whereas my last sunscreen always felt so thick and like I had to really work at blending it in, the watermelon glow niacinamide sunscreen just effortless glides on. It's so silky smooth. I also love that it has just a hint of natural watermelon fragrance. Plus, it feels so nourishing, and it really does wonders to help with the texture of my skin and alleviate any redness I may have. Chemical sunscreen that is ensconced in great ingredients. WHY? Ingredients that accumulate in fish and breast milk. No one should be using any chemical sunscreen. Children are advised not to use at least one of the active ingredients because studies have shown that it aggravates rosacea and eczema. Japan limits not just one but two of the ingredients in this product. Bottom line is any sunscreen that is “light” and adsorbs easily, is chemical based – it soaks into your skin. If it accumulates in fish that swim below water treatment plants, what makes you think it doesn’t accumulate in you when you directly slather it on your skin? The government approvals of these ingredients is based on the thought that more people will die of skin cancer then will die of chemical toxicity, but how do we know that all the cancers we have aren’t a result of all the chemicals we are exposed to daily? And all of the reactive copy in the ad suggested GR knows this is an issue and is trying to head off complaints and questions in advance. I have no doubt that this is a wonderful sunscreen. The other ingredients are great. But if you care about your health you’ll stop using chemical sunscreens. You’ll just suck it up and use the mineral only ones that take about 20 minutes for your skin to warm them to the point of making the white cast disappear.Less C. P.

I feel like I've honestly tried every single SPF out there and had given up hope of finding one that doesn't make me look and feel like a grease ball! I've got oily skin, acne prone my whole life. Been working hard at getting it cleared up with Tretinoin, Vit C, and Niacinimide. My skin barrier is healed now, and the oil is so much less than what it used to be, but I've been avoiding using sunblock even though I'm supposed to with Tretinoin because it would cause my foundation to literally melt off. THIS STUFF IS A MIRACLE!!! Not even kidding- it soaks up ALL of my oil the ENTIRE day. Even my stone stays matte! I can use it with a light moisturizer first too, which is crazy, though usually I've just been doing serums and this. Such good products for my skin and the part I'm most excited for is that it doesn't have the chemical sunscreen ingredients, just zinc, so it's reef safe and I can use for our trip to Hawaii! The tint doesn't do anything more than prevent it from being a pure white cast, so don't count on that for acting like a foundation, but it does soften the look of my blemishes and reduces the look of pores. Someone with very fair skin and few scars might do well with this though, but my skin is a medium/neutral and the cast is a little pinkish for me. I have very sensitive skin and didn't react to this at all! It washes off easily at night too (I do a double wash with oil first and it comes off with that right away). I'm a customer for life, no joke!
I love this sunscreen so much. I've been trying a ton, and I keep coming back and reaching for this one. The texture is light and mousse-like, easy to spread, and just feels really good going on. Once it's on, I don't feel it at all–there's none of the tightness or dry cracking feeling some mineral sunscreens leave (I have combination skin). The light tint is perfect for my complexion, none of the orangeness some sunscreens have for me. It doesn't transfer once dried down, and the finish is a beautiful matte almost foundation like finish. I love the blurring effect–it evens out my redness and hyperpigmentation without looking heavy or cakey or emphasizing lines or wrinkles (I'm 42). I wish it was SPF 50, but I love this for lower exposure days. The tint, as I mentioned, is perfect for me, but I also wish there was a variety of shades available so people with darker skin tones could use this as well.QueenBee

🙋♀️ I have very sensitive, dry to combination skin that is extremely allergy prone. I also have some fine lines around my eyes. And I burn very easily. 📦 The packaging The product comes in a typical sunscreen packaging. It's handy and not too big, so it's easy to put it into your purse/handbag. It also has a metallic (I think) ball inside the packaging – I didn't see it, but I can hear it when I shake the product. 👀 The texture and looks This sunscreen comes out in almost exactly my skin color! It's light peachy color. It's a bit more on the "runny" side, but I don't mind this because this way it's so easy to spread it. I guess because of its color it doesn't leave a white cast on the skin. But if you forget to shake the product, it will come out with a bit more oil in it. The sunscreen gets absorbed fast and very easily, and it doesn't leave you feeling greasy. After few minutes, I don't feel it on my skin at all. It's the perfect sunscreen! 👃 The smell I absolutely love the smell of it! Smells like oranges. The smell is not strong or overpowering, it's so mild that it's just plesant and refreshing. It doesn't bother me at all when I put the sunscreen on my face. 💙 My opinion I absolutely love it! I always have to buy 50+ sunscreen because I burn so easily and nothing below 50+ can save me from looking like a shrimp during summer. As others have said, this product leaves the most significant white cast of any sunscreen I’ve ever tried, definitely due to the high percentage of mineral screen (almost 30%!). I just couldn’t use this on a normal day at work or going out because it’s super hard to rub in and leaves a kind of chalky feeling, especially on the face (I have dry-combo skin). However, I bought this for a summer vacation to the beach and it absolutely did the job. I was more worried about sun damage than a white cast, so I just dealt with it and it works incredibly well. It is more waterproof than any sunscreen I’ve ever tried – even with other waterproof mineral screens I’ve found it coming off a bit in the water, but this has the texture almost of paint or glue and Does. Not. Budge. Their “Wet force technology” is absolutely real. I use it on my tattoos because I’m extra careful about making sure they don’t fade, and it makes me feel super protected. It definitely requires an oil cleanser to remove, even normal body wash didn’t fully take it off. I'm extremely picky when it comes to sunscreen and wanted something mineral, in a fluid formula that sets down and doesn't remain greasy or emollient. This one seemed to meet all of my criteria on paper, plus I appreciated the size of the bottle. Yes, it's WHITE, even on my pale NC15 skin. I was concerned that my foundation wouldn't match the rest of my exposed skin (neck, chest, arms) after applying the SPF to all of those places, but that hasn't been an issue. At least on my skin, the white cast really does dissipate and settle down to a point where it isn't even noticeable, so that's been a relief. Overall, though, this product has really just fit the bill for me and works in every way I had hoped for it to. It's not heavy or greasy, but still suffices as a moisturizer on its own. It sits beautifully under makeup, doesn't break up my foundation or look shiny (both issues I had with Elta MD and Kinship), and has reliable, strong SPF for the Texas sun. I would rate this 1 million stars if I could. I'm an esthetician and use a ton of products. But this has remained my number one favorite. I use this as my everyday foundation. It is insane how much more confident I feel the second I put on this product. It makes my skin so glowy and hydrated, and evens out any redness on my face. I have converted clients of all fitzpatricks to this. I would suggest possibly putting out a paler tint and a darker tint, because the tint can pull orange on fitz 1/2. I want to love the **** out of this stuff I really do. I think what’s mainly throwing me off is this is a sunscreen and not a foundation. Which I 100% knew that when I bought it, but it’s obviously something to get use to if you mainly use foundation. I do have rosacea and by no means does it cover it up or any other blemishes I have, but it does give a nice tint. It gives your face a little bit of coverage all while looking extremely natural! Which I love! First time applying this I used a makeup brush and I didn’t like the finish. Second time was my finger tips and that looked a lot better. It’s extremely blendable when blended in with your fingers. I love that this is a sunscreen so I’m not so worried about “messing” my face up. Overall it’s a good product. I’m just still in the process of learning to love the way it looks. I love that it’s natural though overall. I’m 27 and love a lighter look now that I’m a mom/married. I’m not in my young twenties again so a light coverage is best. Just throwing this on with some mascara and a little touch up to the brows and your good to go! It all smells nice!amberfrombama
Alastin’s tinted sunscreen is the BEST. As you can see in the picture it looks darker than my actual skin tone, but it blends perfectly. A little bit goes a long way and I do not have to reapply throughout the day. I started using this product around 6 years ago and will faithfully continue to be dedicated purchaser of Alastin products. They have many products I use, but the tinted sun screen is my favorite (next is a toss up between their cleanser and restorative skin complex). I use it everyday and only purchase it 2x a year. Another bonus is if you are in a hurry and don’t have time to put on makeup, this covers just enough. The price has recently increased to $60, but you get more product than before.lauren.p

This was my first time trying a sunscreen from this brand and I was not that impressed. I got this one and the non-tinted version of this, and both were just not that great. They don't sit well over certain moisturizers (I use cerave cream) and can pill/bunch up depending on the skincare you have underneath. The tint on this claims to be universal, but it was noticeably darker compared to my natural skintone. I'm Asian with light/fair skin (Fitzpatrick type 2), and the color difference was so obvious. I applied this to my face and neck, and it was so dark compared to my chest. I was confused because reviews with lighter skin said the tint was fine, but it might also be that people don't apply an appropriate amount for proper spf coverage. The tint on this is really suited for those who are a solid medium/tan skintone. This is also not dark-skinned friendly (I had my friend try it out), as it leaves you looking ghostly. Also, the smell is similar to that of rubber tires. I do like that it's spf 50 and lightweight, but the cons heavily outweigh the pros for me that I would not find myself ever purchasing this again.Kev
Recently with the influx of skincare and makeup videos on apps like Instagram and tik tok, I've been seeing so many things about sunscreen and sun protection. I'm only 25 but I've started to notice some fine lines and signs of sun damage since I'm quite pale and fair skinned, which is all the more reason for me to use this. I've tried other sunscreens for the face but most of them leave a white cast or make my skin feel even more oily than it already is, or even pill up on dry areas. That was until I went searching for the best face sunscreen and found this. At first I was hesitant because of the price, and thought about it for a few months. I mean $37 for sunscreen is definitely a lot, but to those wondering if it's worth it: it definitely is. This sunscreen is absolutely amazing, it's light, fluid, makes me feel like I'm wearing nothing at all, and best of all leaves NO WHITE CAST!!! I love knowing that I'm protected and the spf 50 is great for someone like me with super pale skin. The only issue I have with it is that it does leave my face looking a little oily but usually I'll just put a bit of powder on and it looks normal. I would definitely be interested in trying something that has a more matte finish, if available. Also I will say if you use the recommended amount of sunscreen daily you will go through this bottle pretty quick. It lasted about 3-4 weeks for me, so it could be worth investing in a backup sunscreen that's cheaper, but overall I love this sunscreen it's the best one I've tried yet!!Cccmp
I'm so glad I decided to try this particular sunscreen from La Roche-Posay {already being happy with, -and using their SPF50 for children for both me and my son} wanting something that felt a bit lighter for the face and neck especially. I have very sensitive, reactive skin prone to redness {not diagnosed but ticks every box for Rosacea} and not only does this sunscreen not cause any irritations whatsoever, but my skin seem calmer and happier since I've started using this nearly daily and I've had no flare ups and putting it on. There's not even a hint of redness {that can even be brought on by my kind moisturiser that is great for me otherwise}. Anyone with finicky skin knows that this in itself is so nice to find, – but not only have I had these results every time for weeks now, but it also seem to make my make up look and last b e t t e r, which I find hard to expect from a sunscreen. So much so that I've stopped using a primer before make up application {and rather just use this sunscreen and then a cc cream and some translucent mineral veil, and I have had more compliments on my skin than ever}. The consistency is quite runny and light, but I find that to be a great feature for a sunscreen for the face as it melts in with no white cast whatsoever. It stays a bit tacky to the touch {and skin looks healthy 'glowy' on me}, which I now only appreciate as that might be what then has make up sit well on top too. First time I ordered I was a bit taken back by how small the bottle is, but it's lasted much longer than expected with daily use and I've reordered more than happily since.Hannah

Pros: this product doesn't sting my sensitive eyes, and it prevents sunburn. Cons: It settles into the lines of my skin and makes them white. I end up with white lines across my neck, and the visual effect is similar to old age stage makeup. It makes the lines look deeper and more severe. Also, the performance under makeup is appallingly bad. Utterly woeful. I tried it with Bareminerals Barepro pressed powder, and I also tried it with the Lisa Eldridge longwearing liquid foundation, and the makeup looked nice when I first applied it, but then it quickly degraded over the next few hours. The powder foundation cracked so badly that it ended up looking like I had flaky snake scales all over my face. I was still at work, and I took a tissue and savagely wiped away the worst bits. The longwearing foundation fared better, but it split and cracked like a desert floor. The foundation I've been using instead for everyday wear, that doesn't sting my eyes but plays well with makeup, is the Supergoop Play. I get the big jug of it and use it on my face and body, and my makeup sits on top of it beautifully. I would recommend the anthelios for a hike, or some other activity where you'll be in the sun but your appearance doesn't matter.Cydni

I’ve recently started purchasing La Roche Posay products and am super happy with my purchase’s. This is the last thing I bought. I’m totally in love with it. It applies perfectly on my face and arms and leaves no white cast. Normally I spend $38-$65 dollars just for my face sunscreen but no more. This one is top dog now. It’s mostly physical with a tad bit of chemical but I’m ok with that. I use to try so hard and use products that were 100% clean and they are so expensive but what people don’t realize is there are non clean ingredients in practically everything. Makeup, skincare, hair products, ect. At least with La Roche Posay I don’t worry about it. It’s fragrance free and doesn’t have sulfates and the majority of the other bad stuff. This brand was made for sensitive skin and mine sure does love it. I’ve been using their face and body wash for dry to extra dry skin on my face then their face and body cream on my face followed by this amazing sunscreen. Who says you have to spend a fortune on skincare for it to work? Next product of theirs I want to try is the hylaronic acid serum. It’s a combination of big and small molecules to reach the surface of the skin and I believe 15 layers deep. Sounds amazing! This is as far as I go with face makeup and the more I use it the less hyperpigmentation I have thanks to avoiding nasty tints that sink into your pores and cause congestion. Highly recommend for acne prone, textured skin. Simple fix to the tackiness is putting on bareminerals foundation over it. Buildable and leaves you with hydrated, moisturized, and protected skin. Alone it is very dewy and just the finish for hot dry Florida days. When the humidity kicks up, adding some powder to prevent transfer and keep it from feeling tacky is all you need. Perfect product! I've tried far too many high quality and "clean beauty" tinted spfs and this checks all my boxes. There is no such thing as a perfect spf but with a couple hacks this baby comes close. Nice texture — silky but not oily. It leaves more of a dewy, than an oily look. It's unscented, and water-based with none of the unhealthy ingredients that are already banned in other countries, but that can be sold legally in US cosmetics. It also contains some good ingredients such as niacinamide. The tint works for my light skin. It looks dark when it comes out of the tube but blended in well and has just enough pigment to even skintone without looking like you are wearing makeup. (For reference, my skin tone is about the same as Neutrogena Healthy Skin products in Fair to Light 20 tone.) It has a warm undertone, so would probably be better for people with the same. I'm not sure if it would leave a light cast for darker skin tones, but I don't believe it would leave that ghostly white cast some zinc oxide sunscreens do. Our family used the old Banana Boat Kids in the yellow bottle (used to be available in a 12 oz. pump, which was awesome!). For years and years we used that sunscreen. We were absolute devotees. Then they discontinued it and replaced it with this new one. While the active ingredients are the same, the formula is totally different. The old one was a normal lotion consistency, easy to rub in and with a white cast that faded quickly. And while it did settle into skin creases (inner elbows, etc.), it came basically clean with normal showering. This new formula is like GLUE. It takes forever to rub in, and leaves your skin looking white all day. When my kids hop into the pool or lake, the water beads up on top of this sunscreen, somehow the white cast gets even worse, and they look like wet, blobby ghosts. It migrates into creases and their hair line, leaving thick white streaks. And it is IMPOSSIBLE to wash off. Even with repeated scrubbings with a soapy washcloth, it adheres to the skin like superglue. My little one spent a while digging in the dirt yesterday after I applied this, and now the DIRT is also stuck to her like glue. We scrubbed and scrubbed in the shower last night, and she went back to camp with blackened legs this morning anyway. PLEASE bring back the old formula (AND the old larger pump bottles!). If you did, it would be the only sunscreen our entire family would use for the rest of all eternity. Until then, I'm shopping around for something that isn't impossible both to apply and to wash off. This stuff works great! I use it for running and even on the hottest, sweatiest days, it stays on and does its job! Plus it doesn't contain those freaky chemicals. Yay! There are two little problems, though. It does leave a bit of a white cast. Rubbing it in well does help, but I don't think it ever really goes away completely. The other issue is that once it's on, it's hard to get off! That is a big advantage for sun protection! However, it's tricky in the shower. There will be some kind of exfoliating product needed, if you want it all off, the first time! It's kind of fun to watch it swirl around the drain though. I also like to put on some mositurizer after use, because it seems to dry out my skin just a little. I have super sensitive fair, sun damaged, rosacea prone, dry mature skin. I literally tried about 20 different sunscreens and was so surprised to find this as my favorite. I’ve developed red rashes with other sunscreens (even physical/zinc ones) and this one does not irritate my skin at all. It does not leave a white cast on my skin. It also applies smoothly even over my thick Cerave moisturizing cream without any pilling. I typically don’t wear much makeup, but when I do, it applies smoothly on top of the Banana Boat. There is no fragrance and no irritation even on my eyelids. The only slight downside for me is that it has a slightly greasy feel, whereas I would love more of a matte finish. Most people would probably enjoy this though as it does give my face a bit of a dewy look. Overall, I can’t recommend this enough!peachie

I love this product! I am always weary of sunscreen for my face because I have tried greasy lotions in the past that left a white cast. I am so happy to report that this one is a game changer! It blends easily into my skin and delivers powerful antioxidants and a strong broad spectrum sun shield. I want to thank influenster for sending me this product. I have been trying to look for that holy grail sunscreen that will go under my makeup and not look oily after an hour. This sunscreen does not smell as strong as some do, and sits under any makeup both dewy and matte beautifully. I didn't have any separation or pilling which has happened with other sunscreens I have tried in the past with makeup. does not leave a white cast in pictures when used either which has happened as well with somethings I have used in the past. Where I took points off had to mainly do with my own skin, now both chemical and natural sun screens both do this I was hoping this one didn't give me a reaction, but after wearing the sunscreen 8+ hours I started noticing my face was so itchy and I started getting red blisters on my face that were super itchy. this normally happens within an hour with other sunscreen but this one does not bother me if it's only on for a few hours. I have sensitive skin, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. My holy grail moisturizer is from La Roche-Posay. I was thrilled to get this product for free to try. I normally do not wear chemical sunscreen because of my skin sensitivity. This is the first chemical sunscreen that I can wear that does not irritate my skin. I love the pump. This sunscreen is opaque white, but does not leave a whitecast on the skin. There is a very tiny initial smell out of the pump of sunscreen, but it goes away very quickly. This is a very hydrating sunscreen which is great for my dehydrated skin. Since I am oily, this will be my new sunscreen for winter. While this is hydrating, it also makes me shiny throughout the day because I am also an oily skin type. My long wear foundation normally can go 14 hours with no touch ups. At 10 hours, the foundation on my chin is starting to break apart, so I will take a dry sponge and pat my chin to get the foundation to settle down. The foundation on my nose and cheeks really starts to break apart and look cakey. Again, just pat and it goes back to normal. So I used less sunscreen and it seemed to help with the longevity issue with my foundation. The big awesome part of this sunscreen is that since it is hydrating, the pores on my cheeks look smaller than when I use a matte sunscreen. The texture has a nice creamy feel to it that soaks into my skin and doesn’t just sit on it or build up. I am 47 and my skin is showing signs of aging. Make up seems to just make all the little signs of aging even worse! With this, it soaks into my skin moisturizing it and leaving a nice tint that compliments my skin well. I don’t get any lines cakiness or residue from it like regular foundations. I love that it is specifically made for my face! But when used in conjunction with the Tinted version, I find it to look more natural (3 pumps tinted and 1 pump regular covers my face, neck, and hands). When first applied, it does look a little shiny but since my skin is so dry the shininess does not last long and I normally apply the EltaMD Face & Body lotion on top. I do not use foundation or other makeup so I am unsure of how it may react to other products. But in my experience, the texture and application is great and a little product goes a long way. The first thing I want to say is this: anyone who gave this sunscreen five stars is either not applying nearly enough of it, or is putting lots of powder foundation over it. For the price, it is in the same category as skinceuticals sunscreens, murad, eltaMD and is, quite frankly, a joke of a sunscreen for $60. SPF 30?? Not even water resistant? I have dry skin and after applying the appropriate amount of this for adequate UV protection, my face is white and greasy. The chemists that made this should be ashamed!! SPF 30 mineral/chemical combo (NOT water resistant) should apply invisible and be sheer, even if it is moisturizing. I have used SPF 50 100% MINERAL water resistant sunscreens that wear like this does and for MUCH cheaper. The ONLY thing this has over ANY drugstore sunscreen is that it is fragrance free. I cannot think of a single reason to use this over countless other terrible sunscreens even if it were a reasonable price.Anonymous
I love the texture and a little goes a long way. This is my new favorite! Blends in so nicely and wears with or without makeup. I like the secure bottling so you don't lose too much product and you can control the dispenser so nothing goes to waste. I have very sensitive rosacea skin and this sunscreen is a lifesaver! I've been using it for several years now, it does not irritate my skin at all, on the other hand it feels moisturizing and actually calms my skin down, and best of all it does not make me break out like so many other sunscreens, yay! I know it's only SPF 30, but I even wear it to the beach in Southern California on the hottest sunny days and I never get burned at all, it definitely compares to a SPF 50. No unpleasant smell or weird texture. Yes it's a bit pricey, but it's a big bottle and lasts me all year, this is a winner!!Anonymous

I love this brand for sunscreens and also their body lotion. Their face fluid spf is fantastic and this is just as good but a bit more of a cream. It is slightly shiny on the face but after it soaks in and I apply my make up over the top I’m just left with a nicely moisturised face with a lovely glow. Even better that’s is so reasonably priced. I'm actually reviewing the Altruist Dermatologist Face Fluid SPF 50 5* but unfortunately it wasn't an option on it's own that I could pick to review. I have never used a facial specific sunscreen, or any sunscreen on s daily basis. The facial fluid is very lightweight and while I probably don't put enough on I would struggle to rub anymore onto my skin! I normally put 1-2 fingers worth of fluid on and that more than covers my whole face. It does have a white cast initially but once it's all rubbed in properly, wow it leaves you looking glowy af, in a good way! It feels very hydrating and I would be happy to continue using the product and would consider trying other things from the range, although it is a bit more expensive than I would usually pay for sun products.jodie .t
I was pleasantly surprised by the formula, it feels very similar to a normal moisturiser and not like the usually heavy, sticky sunscreens. I used it on my face few times and it works well under makeup. I cannot comment on the white cast as i have fair skin, but it absorbed well into the skin. It protected my arms from my usual sun allergy, but the temperature was under 30celsius, the real test will be the temperature goes over 30. However, for some reason it didn’t protect my chest where I had a serious sun allergy.Anonymous
