Four months ago we picked up a 3 year old yellow lab at a shelter near Denver. The dog is lovable, has had some hunting experience, but was WILD when we got him. It was necessary to keep him tethered at all times, or he was GONE for 20 minutes pursuing some scent in the nearby forest (we back up to public land). I purchased this device in the hopes I could control him. To my surprise I discovered he must have had some time with a similar device. He instantly responded to the Tone/Vibration mode. When he would start to take off, one tap on that mode made him instantly come back. Only if he chased a deer on hikes did I have to "tingle" him a little. He would immediately drop the chase. I bought the sport dog 425x for my lab a few months ago & loved it but it recently fell off him while we were walking on a trail and I was never able to find it. For the money it costs, I don’t think it should fall off that easily. I then bought the 825x, but I’m not sure I recommend this collar for extremely active dogs.esport dog collar

We just moved out of a condo and into a house where we now have our own backyard. Our new backyard isn't fenced in and a fence really isn't in the budget right now so they was a great money saving solution for our dog. I have a Boston Terrier that is very stubborn and doesn't always listen when she is called. If she spots a squirrel or bird, or neighbor's cat she loses all control and has to chase it. I am not in the mood to chase her down everyday. And I wanted her to have freedom to run and play and not be on a leash like she has been when we lived at the condo. Let me add that neither of us had ever set up a wireless fence before either. The collar that goes around our dogs neck isn't overly large and bulky so it doesn't irritate her when she is wearing it so she's not trying to get it off. Now we have been taking her outside on her leash and letting her get to know the boundaries and she is learning really fast. We started her off with just the tone setting and she is really taking hold and understanding the boundaries with just the tone. I love the long life of the receiver as well so far we have only had to charge it once. I have a three year old Jack Russel Terrier Chihuahua mix, and a two year old Miniature pincher Pomeranian mix. As you can imagine these boys are none stop energy, and as stubborn as they get! I got both my babies the minute they were old enough to leave mom, and have spent a lot of time/work on training them from day one. However no matter how much time, money, energy you spend training your fur babies their are still going to be times when they’re stubborn. My Dogs love it and have lost weight. They are holding their proper weight now and have lots of energy. Skin and coat has nice condition and they have stopped throwing up dog food after eating. My girl is almost 14, and while she's definitely slowed down, arthritis is her only health issue. Cosaquin was recommended to me, but I went with this stronger version and it's made such a difference in her movement! I think I'd have to pull her in a wagon without it, honestly. I have a pup that is a large breed, he looks like I been feeding him steak and potatoes cause he's so dang big. He is ALL puppy though. Chews on everything loves running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Been trying to train him to chill with me, yeah, right. He wants to play. Put the flags out, set it on a low static charge, and it didn't take long before he figured it out. You DO have to WORK a dog with this. It's not just a plug it up and watch their hair shoot up when they get popped. Walked him around the perimeter for 7 days, he sees and sniffs the flags. After that, I let him run around, and he got popped maybe 3 times, and figured it out. Now he's pretty dang happy, and I can let him rip around with zoomies while I work in the yard. I have a 2 yr old LARGE French Mastiff that weighs 180ish! I bought with the (red in color) “stubborn” collar. We previously installed a wired underground fence. (Which I have to mention took 2 FULL DAYS TO INSTALL AND READY TO USE!!) My Bo would realize he was close to the boundary, take a step or two back then take a run right through it, with no second thought!!! We watched him do this several times. I guess he was thinking, well this is going to hurt but only for a few short seconds. Idk?? But it did NOT phase him one bit! I had talked to 4 or 5 people that had this system, so reluctantly I decided to give it a try. I thought to myself well if it doesn’t work I will simply return it, no harm no foul. My boyfriend had it installed and collar on Bo in 30 mins flat. We walked ole hard-headed Bo around maybe 4 times to show him the boundaries. Once he heard the beeping, he kept walking then he felt the shock 1 time and that must have been enough because he never ventured close again! It has been about 2 months of use and I would give it 100 STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION! We live in a subdivision where houses are fairly close. I was ultimately worried that the zone would lead into the neighboring yard. (which was the #1 thing we are trying to prevent) And although it may, Bo doesn’t even attempt to go that far. I believe he now understands to stay in his own yard! Living in a subdivision, many people take walks and Bo just sits and watches them now!! Matter of fact, just to see, we have sent him outside WITHOUT the collar and ironically enough HE STAYS IN OUR YARD!! The ONLY complaint I have is the small clear piece on the collar broke off the first time I went to adjust the strength of the shock. So far it hasn’t effected anything so fingers crossed on that! Just an FYI, we set ours on a level 3 to begin with and my boyfriend was ready to give up, so I told him to have some patience and we just kept adjusting the level on the collar and we ended up discovering for Bo he needed to be set on a #6. Again, I repeat he weighs 180 lbs, and the Mastiff bread is KNOWN for their stubbornness. I would suggest starting at the lowest level for a smaller dog PLEASE! Nick (my dog) loves these. He limped on one back leg or the other all summer long. The vet couldn't find anything wrong and put him on anti-inflammatorys which helped, but when the medication stopped the limp returned. I tried this and the limp stopped and hasn't come back. Since Nick is under 20 lbs, per package directions, I cut the chews in half so they are very cost effective. But most importantly Nick is running and jumping again.Sue

This dog food looks like and upgrade for my dogs before I even opened the bag. The packaging is so elegant and shows the fresh salmon. Once opening the bag, it does have an overwhelming salmon smell but I can get over that if my dogs love it. I filled up my 17 year old chihuahuas bowl and my two year old lab insisted she have some as well even though it says it’s for smaller breeds she can’t be left out. They both ate it all up and loved it. My older dog is very picky and it’s also hard for her to eat a lot of dog food anymore because of her old teeth but she didn’t seem to have any issues. I started my Bernese mountain dog on this food 3 years ago because I was told Merrick was the least processed dry food out there. I chose the healthy grains because of all the heart problems associated with grain free. My perfectly healthy dog now how elevated liver enzymes that unfortunately keep going up. After doing research, I think it is due to the copper in this food. Copper sources in dog food have changed and many dogs are struggling with copper storage. I just ordered a different brand and will stop this food. It’s a shame companies (in general) but specifically ones that charge so much have no idea what the levels of minerals are in their food.BMDLover

I received this product complimentary but this is my honest opinion. My dog honestly loves this new food. He usually gets excited for new food but gets bored easily but this was not the case this time! He actually looks forward to his feeding times and devours the bowls each time. I like the high quality ingredients and the fact that beef, lamb and salmon are the first ingredients in the list followed by sweet potato. I heard about this product from a friend last winter and after researching it and many other invisible fences, This was by far the one to get. I installed it myself in about 2-3 hrs…I live in the country and just laid the wire on the ground around aprox. 1 acre. no need to bury it at this point however that may change, (we'll see)…the ease of install and very easy to follow instructions left me feeling great, it was too easy. I have three dogs and thought it would be a chore to train and familiarize them to the area of confinement. I was stunned that after the first time out with each dog (one at a time), as dogs do they found the edge of the border very quickly and after discovering the entire perimeter they settled in and love being off the 25' leash I had them on. In any event, if you are questioning yourself about this product DON'T. For me it was a total "easy button".Charlie2509

After having an Innotek in-ground fence for almost 10 years, our collars died and we were looking to replace the system. There was nothing out there comparable, except for SportDog. I've had it set up for about 4-5 days. So far, it's great. I have the 'contain and train' with remote trainer, and it's a bit more complicated than our Innotek, which did not have the remote. It works great: It gives a warning vibration and sound prior to a shock. Our dog knows the routine, so he stops at the beeping sound. It hooked right up to our current in-ground copper wire ( about 5 acres worth) and works great. No need to replace in ground wire. Potential Cons: The 'box' on the collar is about twice the size and weight of the Innotek. It's really big and heavy. I thought the Innotek one was more than I wanted to leave on my dog, but this SportDog is MUCH bigger and seems like it would be uncomfortable and annoying. Our dogs are about 40-45 pounds and they are ok for that size, but a smaller dog it would just be way too big. For the record, our dog doesn't seem like it bothers him, but I would still like it about half the size and weight it is now. The manual says to only leave on for 12 hours at a time, but that's not practical. The dog knows he can run off when the collar is not on, sooooo…. what's the point if your dog is not protected 24/7? I leave it on all the time and just make sure to leave it loose enough that it doesn't poke him. As long as it's on, he doesn't go near the boundary. Compared to our straightforward Innotek collars, this system is like a camera that has a LOT of bells and whistles. There are so many options that it makes it difficult and more time consuming to set up (even for someone extremely familiar with and experienced with systems like this) , and there are features you may not use. That said, it IS nice to have those features and options. You just have to read through the manual, which is kind of lengthy, and it was hard to find what I was looking for for basic set up. So be prepared to have a highlighter on hand and highlight those areas that you will use a lot for basic operation, so you can find them again easily.oregondesperado

Dasuquin is an updated product from Nutramax. We gave Nutramax Cosequin to old German Shepherd and Australian cattle dogs that have since passed on because it gave them relief from joint pain that was obvious in the improvement in their ability to get up and lie down and run again. I'm giving maintenance doses of Dasuquin to two large dogs we have now that are age 4 and 5yr to extend the life of their joints. The ingredients are similar to human nutritional supplements for older people: Glucosamine, chondroitin, brewers yeast, dextrose, green tea extract, gum resin, lecithin, cellulose, mixed tocopherols, flavoring and soy protein. avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) ….. We haven't used Dasuquin long enough for a long term review so my rating is based on previous experience with Nutramax products. The tablets are 3/4 inch in diameter. My dogs won't eat them as they are so I break them into fourths with my fingers and drop them into their food. The tablets are easy to break. If your dog is getting older I recommend this product along with high quality dog food and fresh water.William

I was told my dog had a luxating patella. We would hear his knee popping in and out all the time. Baxter has been on Dasuquin with MSM for many years, and so far we have never had to consider surgery. Baxter gets one full tablet every morning with his morning meal. I think he thinks its a special treat, so he gobbles it right up. I bought this as the reviews were mostly positive. I have only been giving it to my two dogs for about 3 weeks, one is a 8 year old lab mix and the other is a 6 year old English Mastif. I will need to give it more time before I definitively say it is working. My little Havanese is getting older and has unfortunately started losing some of her teeth. Eating dry food has become more challenging for her. I’ve had to mix dry food with wet food for her to be able to eat it. This product is great for her because it has tender bites in it which are easy to chew for my small dog. I bought the XC Bundle for training my 10 month old Drahthaar after I was disappointed with another brand…I love Cabela's Customer service and return polices, no issues retiring the previous product. I won't mention the other brand but wished I had went with Garmin from the beginning. I find it hard to believe the negative reviews on this product after my experience with it this winter. I've had no issues with battery life in the collar or handheld…its actually surprised me with how will its performed in cold weather and direct water contact training my dog in Lake Ontario,…the 1/2 mile range is more then enough for both training and field work. The control buttons are excellent, don't be fooled by guys saying dial buttons are better, this handheld is well built and very nice to carry and I've never accidentally changed settings, and you can work the buttons with light gloves easily. The contact points are great…the long version is perfect for my dogs dense wire coat. I honestly do not have a negative thing to say about this purchase..if you do not need the bark control feature the Delta XC will do everything you need it to. Bought the Delta XC couple of years ago and had no luck getting my stubborn dog to respond. Finally out of frustration I hired a qualified trainer to get this dog’s reactive aggression under control. Told the trainer that I had one of these after the first session where the dog was not giving into our will. Trainer took the time to educate how it works and why. Helped us set it up and we began using this as a tool to get compliance. It really hasn’t taken long to get the dog to understand the command, the mild correction (2-4 setting), and the treat or no treat for compliance. The dog is by no means perfect, but barking can now be controlled with command and either tone or small correction. Dog recall is much improved as before the dog would not come when called. Now, call once. If no response, call a 2nd time and add a minor correction and the dog returns to me immediately.Thanks Bob

We’ve been using our Garmin Delta Sport XC for quite some time now, and it’s been working pretty much flawlessly. Sometimes our GSP reacts more, as though she’s more sensitive to the static signal, but then she’s a stubborn dog that *wants* a stronger signal than most dogs. She usually responds best at 13-High. (She’s trained to the collar as a signal for the most part, not so much as a “correction.”) The dogs wear their collars every day from wake-til-bed without issue. The remote’s signal strength seems to be at least 1/2-mile through heavily wooded terrain, so it’s lived up to our expectations.Joyce

I have been purchasing Beneful for at least 4 years, if memory serves. After receiving some coupons in our newspaper, I decided to purchase Beneful to see if one of my older dogs would have less digestion problems. Logan loves every flavor that Beneful makes! He especially loves his veggies, barley, and rice. These items are very imprtant to Logan's health because they keep him regular. Like older adults, older dogs need dietary items that are good and good for them. Logan likes the Beneful dry also, but he does better on Beneful Wet foods. Our Vet says that even though Logan has been mistreated to the point that he has his digestion problems, Beneful is the best food for him and his 14 yr old system. He still likes his fresh salmon, wild rice, carrots and brussel sprouts he gets every other Sunday, but he's just as happy with his Beneful Chopped Beef and Chopped Salmon to name a couple. 🐕🐩🐶🍖🐾 I have a little pomeranian that is very picky! He's a much older dog who has cataracts and isn't very active. He was a rescue dog when I got him he already had all his ailments. I really like that this food is mostly soft even though it is considered dry dog food. I also like that you could see the vegetables in the food as well! Gus really seem to enjoy this food which was surprising given how picky he actually is! At a good price point and it it looks good! I rescue senior Yorkies and those Yorkies that are not easily adoptable. I received one this summer that has severe anxiety issues that created some not so nice lash outs, including biting. We have 3 dogs. Bichon Frise 14 names Molly , a maltese 10 named George, and a Coton de tulear 7 names Holy . All three are rescue dogs. Molly's owner died , George was taken to a shelter as a small puppy and Holly owner also died. Molly has gotten to where she waddles or toddles along . She was like a grandma dog. I recently got Vet’s Best Advanced Hip and Joint chewable tablets for my 3 year old Mountain Cur who has seen his fair share of hunting and done quite a job on his poor legs already in his lifespan. He hobbles around on most days and does not want to do too much activity when he is not out hunting. We try to keep him feeling his best even when it is not the season to get hunting done. These chewable tablets have not been what he wants to get, but I have noticed he seems to be feeling a bit better after about a week of using them. One slight downfall is how much he does not like the taste of them, though. These are not the squishy, soft chewables I would hope for my dog, but rather the crunchy version. They are also pretty big, but for my dog weighing in at about 55 lbs., he needs 1 ½ twice a day. Taking it once a day is a huge task for him, much less twice. My other dog has no issues taking it, much like a treat. He has gotten used to it more and more and the benefits far outweigh the bad of the dislikes my dog has to it. I would highly recommend, as the 90 chewables would last our dog about a month.Semperfimommy2014

I received the Vets best hip and Joint natural formula for dogs tablets as a spark reviewer. I have only had this product for 3 days and have been giving it to my retired Greyhound every morning. The instructions say based on her weight she should have 1 1/2 tablets, but she has a sensitive stomach so I wanted to start small. She is 12 years old and is retired from the racetrack since she was 18 months. She is slow to get up in the mornings her long legs are like giraffes legs and it takes her a bit. She does not care for the smell so I have to disguise the tablet in a piece of cheese or rolled up bologna. I noticed this morning but she seemed a little bit more perkier and I am hoping it is the tablet. We live on over an acre of property, some mornings there are rabbits and she just can't help herself! I’m so happy I switched my dog!!! He was eating grain free since he was born and was on lamb. He started to not eat his meals. Then I heard grain free was causing health issue by the fda. So I researched and decided that pedigree would be a great choice and it was. For the first time now my dog runs to eat and eats fast no more grazing.. he eats steak and vegetable.. so happy we made the switch.Nikkid
